Good morning!
Happy Canada Day!
Happy July!
What's up for July gals? Robsia has her goals set. What are the rest of us up to?

July is going a fun busy month for me all the more reason to be vigilant with food and workouts...

SusanB, aren't you usually a very early poster?? I have been checking for this thread ;)
today's weight 127. grr.
that is directly related to my noshing around all day (but at least not all night also) to the tune of around 2250ish cals. (again, at least I charted the calories.)
back to the basics, right?

Ah! But I'm on evenings this week so I didn't get up until after 9 o'clock! How delightfully decadent ;)

Hi all! I'm still here. I guess you can say I maintained for most of June. Not terrible but I'd like to lose 10 more pounds. So, for July, my goal is to make it into the 130s, any number with 13* would be great. Not sure what I have to do get there but I'll keep on trying. :)

Me too! 130 ... anything, would be great!

Couldn't weigh-in this morning battery went dead in the scale, tomorrow I will weigh-in...
It feels so weird, it feels like Monday to me because yesterday we were off  ....
Yesterday wasn't great foodwise, I ate way to many carbs, althought they were unprocessed, too carby of a day for me... but on the upside I jogged for 50 mins and biked for about 45, stopping here and there to visit friends, I was gone for about 3 hours though  ...
I need to go pretend to work... TTFN

I am blessing those decimals again this morning. I also discovered that my glasses weigh nothing ;) Can you say 'desperate to see movement on the scale" ???
Julietta
07-02-2009, 11:31 AM
well SusanB, sometimes I've even tried to wear off my (tiny!) earrings to see the scale moving! :D
I'm actually ill, I got high fever and tonsillitis... awful! But someome would say it's not so bad I can't talk :^:
So the weight dropped down amazingly (5 lb in 2 days!), but I've decided not to move the ticker because I know is temporary... anyway, I'm sloooowly getting close to goal, YEAH! :carrot: (I've already lost 1lb the day before getting ill ;))
I'm just a little worried because on Monday (if I, as planned, can get a recovery) I'm leaving for a two-weeks vacation... great, yes... but it's kind of WILD, a sort of camping... a lot of movement yes, but I will not able to choose or control what they give us to eat, nor will I have a scale, GOSH! :yikes:
But of course, I will still be able to choose what goes into my mouth ;)
just worried that with all that movement I will be very hungry, and the options would not be too healthy, or foodwise... let's see!
Anyway I think it will be good for me to stay two weeks without a scale... mmhh.. even if it sounds scaring!!:^:

Hi Feathers!
My evening ended with an off plan I will just eat the kids left over camp samdwich-- had calories for it-- then added a yogurt/cottage cheese snack-- which I wasn't reaaaly hungry for, just noshy.
All in all my scale bounced from 126 to 126.5 and stayed at 126.0. So I'm guessing somewhere in the middle as I have .5 increments only. It is back in the right direction.
I'm gearing up for the holiday weekend. We are going into the sticks, so no internet access. My plan is to physically write every bite, not just a head tally. I am going hard-core chicks!! :)
Have a nice weekend, see you on Monday am :)

Good morning!
I didn't update my ticker yesterday but I did go for a nice walk to get the mail and some fresh fruit for my lunch.
And yes, I'm still appreciating those decimals today.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do today. It's my only day off so probably housework with intermittent elliptical and napping ;)

Hi everyone - I'm newish here! I just started "dieting" (portion control, substitutions, dailyplate) two weeks ago, and my Taylor body fat scale from Target has been telling me bizarre things. It tells me that I lost 6 pounds, my water % went up a little over 1%, and my body fat went down 3%. Is that even possible in 2 weeks for a featherweight?! In addition, my inches haven't budged - a 1/4" off each thigh but that can't equal 6 pounds!! I'm trying to rationalize this... THANKS!!!

07-05-2009, 06:21 AM
Good morning!
Hi minitwinkie ... sure it can happen (or seem to happen) The vagarities of our bodies, our scales ... Keep going. You'll soon see a pattern that is more reliable.
My only weekend faux pas yesterday was an extra helping of potato salad and a lite beer. We did go for a nice little walk. I should be able to do at least that well today.

just few lines to say "BYEE":wave:
to you all!
I'm going on holiday for two weeks... as I wrote earlier, I hope not to fall OP since I won't be able to choose ANY of the foods (it's a kind of organized camping)... but I will still be able to choose what goes into my mouth (hopefully!). Let's take it as a challenge! :carrot:
I will surely be back on track here when I come back!
Have a nice mid-July and see you soon, Featherweights

For the most part I am doing well. Exercise is good and food is OP except that I seem to have a bad case of munchies especially with chips. Chips are such a trigger for me, they probaly need to be banned from my house. I think I need to start strictly counting calories to make sure I am eating enough for my activity level, perhaps this is why I am always looking to eat more after I eat.
We went to a carnival yesterday and I ate some pretty disgusting and greasy foods. I have been sick all night and this morning. Hopefully once it leaves my system I will feel better and it is not a stomach virus. Maybe this will bump me to the 130's at least for a day. Not a recommended method.

07-05-2009, 02:57 PM
Hi everyone - how was your 4th?? I was good with my food but only because I was sick! I did have a big plate of steak fries though with a dash of salt... it really helped settle my stomach, though :):) I haven't worked out in almost a week due to said stomach but hopefully I'll feel 100% tomorrow and get back to Turbo Jamming! What do you guys do for exercise?
Ilene
07-05-2009, 03:33 PM
Yep, me too for the post part I am doing ok... went for a 27k bike ride this morning it was nice out FINALLY, it's been rain rain rain all week... I may go out again this afternoon... I'm just in that king of mood..
Holidays are a killer for me. I did watch what I ate though, sticking mainly to salads (but potato salad isn't that great). I'm afraid to weigh in.

Morning!
Yesterday we went for a nice walk on the boardwalk at the beach and then went out for fish and chips and ice cream. And you know what? the fish was crappy ... not worth the calories.
So the scale is a little up from that <<< but not bad.

Good morning!
I'm just a smidgeon over that profile weight which is awesome for me for a Tuesday. That means that if I stick to my plan all week, I'll have a new low!
Yesterday, I walked and walked. I ran errands and forgot something so I had to go again. I gardened a little and did a bunch of housework. Surprisingly, I wasn't all that tired at bedtime. I was, however, sound asleep when the alarm went off.

Hi everyone! I've been a little hesitant to post here because I really don't "feel" like a featherweight, but I figure I should try something new and you all seem great!
Quick background: I've been on the chubby side since childhood and reached my highest weight (173!) in college. After graduating and putting an end to ridiculous amounts of alcohol and greasy food, I made it down to mid-150s and just figured I was meant to be a bigger girl and my body was happy there. Turns out, my mind was really unhappy there, so I finally got around to doing something about it! I've totally turned my life around in these past 3 months, in terms of healthy eating and exercise habits, and finally feel great about myself. :carrot: Now to keep going once I start my 2nd year of med school in a few weeks...I think I'll need your help with that!
But now, I'm of course struggling with these last 7-8 pounds. Ugh. I've been feeling hungrier lately and 1200-1500 cals just doesn't seem like enough, but I really want to lose these last pounds so I'm torn between taking a few weeks "off" (eating 200ish more calories of only the healthy, great food I've been eating) or just trying to push through and keep going with what I've been doing, which has been working. I know the last pounds are the hardest, so what have you guys found to work best? Increase cals, lower cals, keep the same range?
Sorry for the super long post! I'm looking forward to being a part of this group and sharing all the ups and (hopefully not too many) downs of this crazy journey! Thanks!

Welcome TakingCharge.
Minitwinkie ... yup. Not every morning but I do weigh first thing.
Robsia
07-08-2009, 08:49 AM
Minitwinkie - I always weigh first thing. My morning routine is: get up, toilet, scales, breakfast, coffee.
Taking charge - welcome! Probably not helpful, but what I actually did was stop trying to lose! I hit my initial goal of 140 back in September and started to maintain. I started running in November and inadvertently lost about 3 lbs without trying (careless I know!), then decided to make 126 my goal and really went for it. It took a few false starts but it's really working this time, but I put it down to the running. Since getting fitter I have found it MUCH easier to lose the weight.

Hi takingcharge!
this am I saw 126 on the scale. now back to those last 7 pounds.
my work schedule is changing a bit and it's getting difficult to rely on the 10+ miles built into my week like I've been. and I am back to charting calories which has a beneficial effect on my intake.
back to work.
have an op day :)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I've been trying to increase my exercise lately, but I think that's contributing to my hunger, so I feel like that evens it out.
Robsia - I've heard that trying to maintain actually does help some people lose weight. I'm not quite sure I'm ready to increase my cals to maintenance range (who even knows what that is??) because I really, really don't wanna gain, but I might try to plan to eat at the high end of my range (1500) for a week or so. Hopefully that'll help! I'll check in and let you all know how it goes.
Kittycat - You're doing great! If you don't mind sharing, how many calories are you eating? Are you doing "weightloss" stage again to get back into your maintenance range?
Oh, I also weigh every day, very first thing in the morning, in the same pj pants (which I just found out weight 0.6 pounds!!).

 hi TakingCharge :D
Well, this week is a good week food and exercise wise... Not losing any weight though but I do feel less bloated  go figure...
Tomorrow is my last day of work, then VACATION :beach: for 4 weeks  can't wait... Vacation time is a double edge sword, more time to exercise BUT more time to eat :hun: ... Oh, well, c'est la vie, I'll just have to bike more... We're going to Newfoundland, can't wait, I hear it's beautiful country....

Thanks TC! I am eating b/w 1300 and 1400 cals a day-- that is weightloss range. I am back to maintenance weight today-- 124.5 and really would like to get to --- well, less that that. I don't want to psych myself out.

Hi everyone...
I'm new(ish) to the site. Been lurking/reading a lot and finally decided to post. I am just 3-4 lbs from goal and I'm kinda little to begin with, so I guess that makes me a featherweight? It was suggested I post here rather than on the main intro thread, so here I am!
I live high in the Rockies, right amongst all the ski resorts. I worked very hard all winter and managed to neglect any kind of working out and ate a days worth of calories at 6-7 pm when I was done for the day. Baaaaad. So, I gained 12 lbs and on this little frame, SO not good. I've lost most of it, but want to finish it off. The last few are the hardest! :dizzy:
You better believe that will NOT be happening to be this winter! Too hard to get the weight off at this age.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Good Morning Everyone. Once again stuck at 143. My weight was able to bounce around a little last week going to 140.5 and 141 but I can't get it to stay there. Did not have the best eating week or weekend so I'll try again this week. I'm thinking I might have to wait until the kids go back to school in September to be stricter with my calories and increase my exercise. With them being home I find it harder to plan and stay on plan or to do what's necessary to lose more weight. I might work on maintaining over the summer and then try to lose the last 7-10 lbs in September. I'll keep trying different things the next couple of weeks and see how it goes.

I'm feeling pretty good this morning too. This is the lightest I've been since March 2008 when I last was actually in the 130's. Mind you, now that I've looked that up ... I can't believe I've floundered that long. Time flies when you're stuffing your face ;)

Robsia - can I ask you a rude question? I saw you lost a LOT of weight, CONGRATS!! I'm wondering if you have any stretch marks or loose skin, etc. If that's too personal, please ignore me!
Robsia
07-16-2009, 07:24 PM
I do have some stretch marks and loose skin on my belly although it's hard to say how much of that is down to carrying two babies in it. Impossible to say really - I would imagine it is a bit of both, being pregnant twice and also being overweight. I don't have any stretch marks or loose skin elsewhere.

07-17-2009, 01:12 AM
Thanks for answering! I was wondering because I have stretch marks on my tummy, butt, and thighs from losing 20 pounds in 3 months two years ago. I've been trying to figure out why this happened since 20 pounds isn't as much as a lot of you ladies have lost!
kittycat40
07-17-2009, 09:30 PM
mini, I would guess the stretch marks are from the gain, not the loss. c'est la vie :) when the recession ends lets all get nips and tucks :)
a little annoyed. after doing so well on my night out I ate too many cals for a loss (2200ish) and saw 124.5 on the scale.
cals today 1800ish. not particularly psyched about scale in the am. pushing fluids and cutting myself off from all things requiring chewing. ;)

Hi everyone - hope some of you might remember me from before. I also hope that I'm not gonna get kicked out of the Featherweights section for misdescription!
I have managed to increase my weight from 138 to 159 since February. Not impressed. I have been faffing around by myself but having as many terrible days as good ones has meant that my weight's stayed the same. I've just come back from Paris and I was so ashamed as everyone there was so tiny. In a country where everyone's so fat I'm one of the thinner ones but going to a "normal" society was a real wake up call for me. So I'm back. Again.

Mornin',
I've been gone a while, but actually lost a few pounds since then. Back now with 15 to lose. I'm trying simply counting calories with a little calorie cycling thrown in. Today is an "1120 cal" day according to the calculator I found. Tomorrow I get an extra 200 cal!!!

Yep, this skywalk is a major benefit! I'm especially looking forward to it during the winter...
Yesterday spent all my energy protecting myself from the over-the-top lunch our secretary [my nickname for her? "The Feeder"] ordered in for us:
5 double crust with everything pizzas, 2 dozen garlic breads, and a dozen cheesey breads to help us get through a "gruelling" 1 1/2 hour teleconference which went through lunchtime. There are a total of 5 of us here. Once again, she "Oops, forgot your salad order!"
I was so mad, I actually stuck to the lunch I brought!

Then DH reminded me that I said I'd walk with him to visit his parents. So I wobbled over ;) He bought me a diet coke for a treat on the way home :D

I admire Doughnut's three days in a row. I can seldom do that.
Well it appears I can't do four! Truly dreadful day yesterday and now I'm away until Monday in the bosom of my cake loving family (although I'm the fattest so they're not that bad). My dad is the most amazing cook so damage limitation is the key. I will succeed though - that ticker's nearly 160 which is just not acceptable.
ILENE - the written part of you practical? What is it that you're doing?

I hope it's okay if I join in the chat...
I've been struggling a lot with these last pounds. It appears that now I've gained a couple pounds back even! I'm really hoping it's this new birth control that I switched to (which I'm getting off of because so not worth saving the money for it) that caused the gain. I'm on the last two days of the "med filled" ones tonight and tomorrow, so thankfully, if that's the case, I should be okay post-TOM. *fingers crossed* Anyway, I am of course disappointed as heck because I was at 131 and now I'm going back and forth during the week between 132-133. Official weigh-in is tomorrow AM, and I'd LOVE to see my old 131 back, but I don't know...

Of course you can join in. We're a very friendly group! And we're glad you're here.
I've got a list of things to do today that is waaay longer than I have time for. I think I'll drive to a big grocery store and think about that in the car. Food for thought? :)

ILENE - the written part of you practical? What is it that you're doing? You've been away Doughnut, so you don't know that I've taken a personal training course... Well, I did the in classe part, the 3 hour exam, and now tomorrow it's the practical where you pretend to train a client. My SIL is my "51 year old construction worker" ... So what I have written is every thing I want to say and remember, I have 8 pages of stuff.... It's tomorrow morning at 10 am... So I really should be off to bed since it's 12 midnight!!

Ugh, still up a pound from my pre-birth control pill weight this morning. I am beyond happy that tonight is the last one! Hoping to see the number 130 on the scale soon! :)
