I started with 227 pounds to lose. I thought it was a totally insurmountable amount of weight to even ATTEMPT losing. I made a realistic goal of losing 50 lbs per year and taking 4-5 years to take it off. I figured on 1 pound per week... lol.

Now after 9 months plus 3 days I've lost 128 lbs. I have ONLY 99 POUNDS LEFT TO LOSE!!!!!

And I know to most 99 pounds seems like a lot but

A) it's double instead of triple digits
B) 249 is closer to 200 than 300
C) 249 is my weight when I was 20 and on my last big diet ;)

This is HUGE for me. Just huge.

I'm on track to lose at least another 30 lbs by my one year anniversary date... that's almost 160 lbs in a year. Holy crap.

wow.

wow.

wow.

Thank you ladies. For letting me share. For loving me back :)

I was going to use the word amazing to describe your weight loss but it has already been used. So instead, I am going to say your weight loss has been awesome, incredible, marvelous, prodigious, shocking, stunning, unbelievable, and wonderful!

Way to go! But more importantly, I am going to say that it is well-deserved. You have worked hard for this.

CONGRATS!! What an amazing accomplishment!! What did you do to get all that weight off? I feel like how you once felt - absolutely hopeless. I have 200lbs to lose and there are days where I feel like it's an unreachable goal.

Soooo, in other words, you're saying sticking to that wonderful plan of yours day in and day out - through stress, strife, illness, holidays, birthdays, parties and everything else in between - has been a good decision on your part and that you're happy with the results?????

Yeah, I think you are!!!! As well you should be. As well you should be.

I dare you to read this and not cry:

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into ****
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star

"The Impossible Dream"
from MAN OF LA MANCHA (1972)

CONGRATS!! What an amazing accomplishment!! What did you do to get all that weight off? I feel like how you once felt - absolutely hopeless. I have 200lbs to lose and there are days where I feel like it's an unreachable goal.

What did I do... hmmm...

well I made up my mind that I was just going to. That there was NO excuses and no turning back. So I did.

I make losing weight my top priority. It's my hobby... my obsession.

As for details?

Brief rundown:
I started at eating 1800 calories per day from the time I was 377 to around 310? I think? I then dropped to 1700 calories per day and here I sit.

I eat no more than 30% fat per day (and take in good fats) aim for 100 grams OR MORE of protein per day and after that let the chips fall where they may.

I focus on whole foods, little processed stuff, 3 litres of water per day, 5-10 veg/fruits per day and lots of lean protein. I cut out the junk and that includes sugar (most important) and I rarely eat out.

A day in my life looks like this:

Breakfast:
1 cup Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon cereal, 1/2 cup soy milk, small banana
Lunch:
1 large whole wheat tortilla, 1 cup grilled chicken breast, 2 laughing cow wedges, 1/4 cup red onion, 5 cucumber slices, 1 cup spring greens, mustard and an applesauce cup
Snack:
1 cup green grapes, 18 multigrain pretzels
Dinner:
1/2 cup sticky rice (brown), 1 cup california mix veggies, 1 cup fake crab
Snack:
medium apple, 1 T peanut butter

That's today :) It's right around 1700 calories.

I mega determined to get this weight off and become a healthier person. NOTHING will stand in my way :)

I say... size 8 at least ;) Maybe 6? lol!!!

And I am totally serious. That would be so much awesomeness I couldn't even stand it. But instead of my house let's all meet in like Vegas or something for a girls weekend. We'll spa, eat healthy expensive food... that would be super cool!!!! Now lets ALL reach goal so we can ALL celebrate together!!!!

Oooh can I come???

But I'll tell you this, every single day that I wake up in a trim and fit body - it's like a holiday or a special event. I have to pinch myself. I sometimes still feel like I'm dreaming. It's such a joy, such a gift, such a treat, such an INCREDULOUS, really indescribable feeling. It's like my own little party every single day.

I would almost, but nah, not quite, say it was worth it to be 287 lbs just so I can feel like this every day.

But it would be something to have a *real* party with each and every one of you. :grouphug:

You know what Robin, I do think it was worth it to be 370 lbs so I can celebrate NOT weighing that every day. Well, clearly it was a life experience I chose to have during this lifetime...I'm trying to learn as much from gaining, losing, gaining, losing then REINVENTING myself as possible.

Way to go hotmama...:D
There really is something magical about being below 250. For some reason when people describe an over weight person 250 is their favorite number...."Oh he's a 250 pounder" or "Look at her, she has to be at least 250 pounds." Being under 250 is like being a normal big chick...KWIM? Call me crazy, but I felt pretty darn cute at 249. You are such an inspiration! :)

Oh and not to steal mama's thunder but I had to comment on this:

It is so wild you said this. The last couple of mornings when I'm having my coffee and delicious breakfast and I'm sitting at the table with my legs crossed and my chair seems so big, and I slowly savor each and every bite. The smell in the air, the joy that I feel, it *is* like being in a constant state of holiday cheer. I can't remember feeling so good.

CF, I just have to tell you that I think you are such a huge inspiration! I'm only an occasional poster, but your progress and determination always amaze me! The way you can deal with stress in your life and still stay focused on your goals is just awesome. I get SO excited when I see you've posted about losing inches/reaching a goal...I am SO excited for you to reach your goal...you are going to look/feel even more amazing than you do now. And you always have such great advice for people! I've kept a Word document of little snip-its from 3FCers that inspire me/make me think...and there are quite a few from you in there!

I would say "Keep it up!" but I know you're going to, so there's no point in stating the obvious!
