Mel - sorry to hear about the eye - go take care of yourself and thanks for letting us know you might be away because we do worry about you  You can come down by the pool and be my cabana girl any time although the water is freezing because it turned cool a few weeks ago and nights in the 60s and days in the low 80s are not conducive to swimming unless you slather yourself with a layer of grease to keep warm - like the English Channel swimmers  You will probably get rained on with great regularity too but then you can move to the porch area. :D

One more day til FRIDAY! WOOT WOOT.....
Tomorrow night is bro's band. I just love going. No alcohol for Ms. Anne. Still trying to be good.
Mom's stinkin' doctor is on vacation this week. So no test results til next week. What a bunch for F-N SH*T. Meanwhile, she is in pain and surely has infection or something going on. Let's just wait and LET her die. I am so frustrated.
MEL....wa whooo, cabana girl..then I am the assistant cabana girl. Call me Monique. Does that mean we get to hang with Sven the pool dude? Sounds like fun all the way around. Hope the eyes get better soon, would hate for you to miss Sven. LOL
Chelle...you are one busy girl now. Good for you to get a walk in with the doggies. I am sure the doggies love it too. You are still my queen of inspiration.
Shad....men get so intimidated by smart cookies like yourself. Don't you just hate it when someone TELLS you how you are going to feel about something. Get bored..don't they know that is entertainment for us worldlies from you? What a bunch of F-N id*ots. The next job will be even a better fit for you. Wait and see.... I think I picked my next to the last bunch of lettuce from my garden last night. I made a HUGE salad and brought it into work to share with a couple of other gals.
Larua...glad to hear you are taking steps to take care of yourself.
Madcat...sweet condolences.
Made Chimichangas for dinner last night in the George Foreman. Yum. Sent some home with T for his lunch and the boys. Also sent some homemade apple cinnamon muffins for their dessert.
A little cloudy, high 79 today.
Hello to all
Love and hugs,

Mel - I somehow missed that your eyes are giving you problems again. I hope your drops/meds help. You rest up, girlfriend.
Happy - My two back issues are (1) a degenerative/arthritic SI joint and (2) a couple slightly bulging disks. The SI joint pain can be controlled/managed with cortisone shots and radio frequency ablation, but it is a permanent condition. The bulging disks aren't causing much pain now...and hopefully don't get worse or need surgery, but I don't think they'll go back to normal on their own. It's okay though...because as I lose weight and strengthen my core and get fitter overall, I'll be placing less strain on my back, which is definitely a good thing! I guess it's not gonna be pool weather for the next couple weeks. Should we tell Sven to come back in mid-August? Those MBT shoes look really interesting and comfortable! Good stuff!
Ceejay - I hope you get the carpets shampooed quickly and get to enjoy the remainder of your 4 day weekend!
Annie - Sounds like you're gonna have a fun night tomorrow night! :woohoo: Wish I could go and dance the night away too! Is there anyone backing up your mom's doctor...even a nurse practitioner who can read the test results and prescribe something? I'm glad I'm still your queen of inspiration. I'm not being as active as I'd like...but the doggie did enjoy the walk yesterday as much as I did (and maybe even more). Chimichangas in the Foreman? How do you do that? Aren't they supposed to be deep fried. Instructions, Ms. Annie, please post instructions/recipe, especially now that you've got me drooling and craving Mexican food.
Well, I'd really better get some work done....even though my mind and body are ready for the weekend.
Love you ladies,

Geez Louise Annie. That's so aggrivating about your Mom!!!! :rollpin: I swear you need to be nurse and keeper to your loved ones because the care is just awful. I hope she will be ok.
Thanks for the chimi recipe. Never thought to grill them on the Foreman. I have all that stuff, you may have inspired me for dinner tonight. Oh wait - we are going to a seminar in which we get dinner. Tomorrow then.
I confess I sinned. I had a Big Mac yesterday. It's been over a year since I last had one. It tasted good but made me feel icky, guilty and dumb. Today I'm eating chicken noodle soup (it's rainy and cool here and soup hits the spot) as well as baby carrots, grape tomatoes and an apple from my podmate's tree. I want some of Annie's chocolate cake too :( Thanks for keeping it up your way :D

Happy.......You are forgiven....say 3 Hail Mary's and Two Our Father's all is forgiven, hahaha
I ate two jalapeno cheese Whitecastle Burgers for lunch yesterday....180 cals each, and loaded with other not so nice fattening things. They were YUMMY too!

Ladies PLEASE! Such talk of Big Mac's and Whitecastle is making me drool! I'm sitting here with a sliced chicken sandwich with mustard on Reduced Cal Whole Wheat bread.
Annie - Thanks for the Chimi recipe! Sounds delish!!
The scale was not my friend today. Up 2.2 lbs to 225.8. I can understand why - fair and festival eating...plus indulging in a couple treats during the week. All that combined with not getting to the gym and not working out very often. I'll turn it around for this week so the scale and I will once again become best buddies.

Morning all,
I have a feeling that some of the above constitutes food porn :censored: - haven't had a burger for ages and ages, but we do have fajita and enchiladas on the odd occasion. Actually we might just have some tonight since I am on a roll with feeding the DS2 greens and him actually eating them. Wonders will never cease.
Thanks for the commiseration about the job. I wish that people like us would rule business decisions. It could be that you are right about the dolly bird. I have a feeling that it was more like they had found a suitable niche and were hanging onto it for as long as possible, whereas I am a get in, get it done, get out type. I might have organised them into actually doing some work. Anyway, it's now relegated to the recesses of the mind and I'm moving on.
Dentist today and another visit to take some more papers to the lawyers dealing with DS2's compensation claim. I do hope I don't have to argue with the snooty receptionist today. Warning :soap: rant coming up.
Why is it, that normal people like you and me have to take time off work to deal with things relating to medicine, law, banking and jp stuff. This drives me insane. Take DS2 for example, he had an accident at work and is permanently injured - although not disabled. So he started this claim (which he now regrets) and so far he has had to take time off work for x-rays, CAT scans, checks with doctors and even psychologists and if he has to have a piece of paper witnessed by a JP then he has to do it in 'Business Hours'. DS2 leaves for work at 5.OOam and returns around 5.00pm by which time all doctors have either packed up for the day or are not taking any more appointments, many do not have appointment books, first in first served basis here, hospitals stop non urgent by 5.00pm and a lawyer is nowhere to be found at that hour regardless of whether they have appointments or not. Maybe thats why the receptionists are snooty. JP's are either active in a business or do not want to be bothered at home at night and you have to pay them each time you go. And as for banks, give me a break, 9 to 4 sharp and very few are open over a weekend. And it is not as if you have to fill things in just the once. The medicare doctors appointments and x-rays continue as the opposition try to disprove the injury, and every 6 months you get another form, WHICH MUST BE SIGNED BY A JP detailing exactly the same stuff as was ticked off 6 months ago. I let rip over the phone the day before yesterday about the extraordinary length of time this was taking and then again yesterday. Probably not done the case any good, but poor DS2 is so over it all and so depressed about things at the moment, I actually fear for his sanity at times - which I didn't fail to point out to the lawyers receptionist yesterday. Business and work conditions being what they are at the moment, DS2 can not explain why he has to take time off frequently and he is now out of sick leave, annual leave and any other type of leave. If the company found out he was suing a previous company, they may well decide to terminate his services especially since he had that accident that nearly cost him his finger a couple of years back in their company. So now he has to have unpaid time off each time one of these doctors or lawyers says jump. Okay end of rant. I need to take a breath anyway.
On a brighter note, I received a registered post letter this week which officially declares my mortgage is dead in the water and I owe nothing more on my house. Now there is something to cheer about. Maybe I'll just finish the renos, sell the house and spend a couple of years wandering the world! Maybe not. Still have to live somewhere after I get tired of moving about.
Morning Mel - Sunday is in no hurry to hide under the bushes today - mind you, it is only 7.00am and the sun is only just getting up so she is sticking around inside to keep a bit of warm in. And just to prove she is the cat, and rules the house, she is sitting on a burgundy coloured throw rug and will be leaving clumps of fur all over it.
I will ring you whenever you want to chat. We can plan the move down to Happy's place. An influx of Jersey, Indiana, Kiwi accents should make their neighbours get up and move! I wonder how Happy's DH will feel about it!
Rest those eyes - can't go to redneck country with red eyes. ;) ;).
Michelle - How's that website coming along? Looking forward to seeing the finished product soon. Walking is great exercise even though it seems to take forever to actually see the difference And you are right the dogs absolutely love it. My two (now sadly not with us) used to have the dog leads all ready to go first thing in the morning. Sorry about the scale readings but it could be a hangover from the pizza episode or just plain salt keeping the fluids in. You'll be better this week I bet.
Annie - those Chimis sound nice. Might just have a try one of these days but won't be on a George Foreman grill since I don't have one. That's not good news about your Mum's doctor. I might expect it here since we don't have to pay them (well we do, through our taxes - but we don't have to take out insurance to ensure we get a service) but I would expect something better from your lot. No I will not get started again
Right the sun is no getting itself ready for the day and the temps are rising, time to go and get on with it. Another busy day today. I should be through with the house and tamed the garden after this week, which will mean more renos happening and some R & R coming up. See ya

Happy, Happy Friday, ladies!
TGIF! I'm so glad it's Friday. BTW, where are we going in August, or what are we going to be? "Amazingly Active", "Awesome, Active and Assertive", striving for "abundance"???
I didn't get to walk yesterday. WW meeting at lunch, meetings and pet sitting (checking in on a household of dogs - letting them out, fresh water, playing with them a bit, etc.) after work. I finally got home around 9:15, then it was a bowl of veggie soup, a shower and bed. Today, I'll either walk or go to the gym, then website work, then pet sitting.
Shad - Sounds like DS2 has his hands full with bureaucratic red tape and stupid business hours. Here some doctors and x-ray places take appointments in the evenings, which is nice. Banks are sometimes open until 6 pm, and usually are open a few hours on Saturday. Sounds like our lawyers keep the same hours as yours however. I'm so sorry that your DS2 has to deal with all that B.S. and is now out of leave. Congratulations on your paid off mortgage. We couldn't afford to buy a house until 5 years ago, so we may be paying it off when we're 70. I keep telling DH when we get older, we should sell the house, buy a motor home (or do you call them caravans like they do in the UK) and travel around the country. As for the move down to Happy's place, don't forget to leave room for a Wisconsin mixed with California accent, okay? My website is on hold as I do work for my client's, which I've got to get done this weekend. Hopefully their's won't take long to finish and I can work on mine as well. I think you're right about the pizza hangover or salt...I did have popcorn that was pretty salty the day prior to weigh in. I gotta be more careful about that sodium. After you tame your garden, can you please come tame mine. I've got a "perennial" garden that's probably more weeds than flowers and now I can't tell which is which unless the stuff is in bloom.
Annie - I love my George Foreman grill. I've got one with removable grilling plates that you can wash in the dishwasher - so convenient! What fun plans do you have for the weekend?
A big Happy Friday  and  and  to everyone!
Lotsa love,

Hi ladies,
Don't have alot of time to chat this morning. Bad weather yesterday. 2 tornadoes touched down. We are fine - we were supposed to go to a seminar last night. I was nervous about going out in the weather, DH was ok with it until we were about to leave. We agreed to stay home. Good thing as one tornado was very close to where we would have been :yikes: Too many tornadoes in this town!
We might have found a place for vacation in the Arkansas mountains. We'll be staying in a YURT - a round, sturdy kinda like but not quite tent kind of thing. Very peaceful and quiet, no light pollution for star gazing, no TV, NO CHILDREN either :yay: It was right up DH's alley. We'll be going for 3 and a half days (perfect place to catch the August Perseids meteor shower) and then taking an overnight trip back to Hot Springs just to check that out. We'll pick up some "aigs" for Shad  Prayers and crossed fingers for us that this rain lets up.
Shad - sorry to hear about DS2's med woes. All this red tape makes you sicker! We need to have a mortgage burning party - I think a small one in the fire pit by the pool is suitable. Can't make too much smoke for Mel's sake. Annie will cook up a storm, Sven will serve, I'll booze you up! Michelle will make sure we don't get too goofy and Ceejay can keep and eye out for the cops. If they do show up, Patty and Laura can distract them. See, I've got it all figured out :D
Michelle - I'm kind of liking Amazingly Active Chicks myself for August. A good reminder. Great idea!
I gotta go. See you later chicks.

IT'S FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY!!! AMEN!! PAY ONE AT THAT, ALTHO ALREADY GONE....YIKES...
SHAD...MAYBE IF WE MIX OUR HEALTH CARE (BEFORE OBAMA F*C*S IT UP) AND YOUR HEALTH CARE TOGETHER, WE MIGHT COME UP WITH SOMETHING THAT IS MORE PLEASING TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT DSs WOES WITH ALL THE BS. NEVER ENDING.
CHELLE....I HAVE AN OLDER GEO FOREMAN-THE GRILL PLATES DO NOT COME OFF. I WOULD LOVE ONE LIKE THAT, HOWEVER WILL MAKE DUE WITH THE ONE I HAVE. I DID FIND THAT IF YOU WET DOWN A COUPLE OF PAPER TOWELS AS YOU TURN OFF THE FOREMAN, PLACE THEM ON THE GRILL, CLOSE IT TILL IT COOLS, THE GUNK COMES OFF QUITE EASILY.
GUESS I WILL HAVE TO BORROW THE NEIGHBORS LAWN MOWER THIS WEEK TOO, MINE TOOK A MAJOR SH*T TWO WEEKS AGO. MY BROTHER IN ILLINOIS SAID HE HAS AN ELECTRIC MOWER I CAN HAVE, NOW IT IS JUST A MATTER OF GETTING IT BACK TO MY HOUSE IN INDY. NEVER HAD AN ELECTRIC MOWER BEFORE, DON'T KNOW HOW GOOD OR BAD THAT MIGHT BE...MAKES ME WONDER IF HE IS GIVING IT TO ME. LOL
HELLO TO EVERYONE.......
HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY AND MARVELOUS WEEKEND.
MUCH LOVE AND MANY HUGS,

Happy - Sorry you had to miss your seminar...but better safe than sorry. Glad you weren't affected by the tornadoes. What a wonderful place to stay for a vacation! When do you leave (yes, I've forgotten when the Perseids are - shame on me)? Is this where you're staying?? http://www.stonewindretreat.com/stonewind_retreat_spa_deals.html Why does goofy little me have the responsibility of keeping all y'all not goofy? I'm the queen of silly/goofy! But I guess keeping y'all in line is better than cooking!
Annie - Thanks for the tip about the George Foreman. I've used electric mowers. They work great as long as your yard isn't bigger than your extension cord is long. :lol3: If I could take our riding mower on the interstate, I'd come mow your lawn. I wonder what the folks at the toll booths would say to me rolling on through!

I'm glad you posted. I was concerned about the weather there. I have some friends that post on FB and she said the storms were fierce. My sister from DFW is in Memphis this week end on business. We had the usual thunderstorm and heavy rain, but it seemed to be dissapating before it got to us. It jumped the river and boom ya'll catch it.
I'd like to go back to Mt Magazine and Mt Nebo again but no more tents for me. I'm to old to be sleeping outside. I've never been to Mt Petti Jean. Enjoy your trip. I hope you are not to disappointed in Hot Springs. Did you know that Hot Springs used to be a hang out for the gangsters back in th 30's?
Shad
Doing the happy dance for the mortage. Happy is right we ought to have a party. It's sad that your son is having to deal with this issue.
Annie
I love my electric mower. Just be careful not to run over the cord.
Michelle and Mel
A big howdy to both of you.
Have ya'll seen the Redi Set Go machine that's been advertised on QVC. I may invest in one of those.
It's been to wet shampoo the bed room carpet. sigh
I'm thinking very seriously that I'm going to wait to go to Paragould tomorrow. My uncles are meeting for lunch Saturday so I can meet them there. I like being at home and my house is getting cleaned and relaxing is a must.

Chelle...tollboothers probably wouldn't say a thing, I am sure they have seen a lot more....of the naked variety. lol Oh wait you weren't riding it through the toll booth naked, now were you???
Happy...love the party idea. I would gladly cook for all yall. Of course I might have to take up a few adult beverages of the margarita type. What a great plan...loving it. Let's do it. Shad, bring the mortgage papers. We are on it. Wish it was really happening as I am completely STOKED about it. lol.
OH and BTW....My son had an interview at the Plainfield Correctional Facility in Plainfield, Indiana (where Mike Tyson spent some time), yesterday. He is being sent for a drug test. I told him that was a positive sign they want him...Prayers and all body parts crossed please.
Running errands at lunch, walking this afternoon on break (that I don't really get), then dancing my arse off tonight. Cleaning and yardwork tomorrow. Sunday visit with momma.
August tomorrow, where the H did July go? Holy crap! I think the week goes Sunday, Trash Day, Friday.

Madcat – my condolences to you re your sister's passing. I'm glad the service was a comfort for you. I had my own McD's indiscretion this week as well. :o I'm glad the tornadoes didn't affect you except for that missed seminar.
Shad – sorry the job didn't come through, but, at the risk of sounding like a cliché, maybe it's for the best. A little more about those EF Hutton commercials – when the EF Hutton guy would be talking, everyone in the whole restaurant, the whole street, the whole stadium, etc. would turn their heads to listen.
Big congrats on the retirement of the mortgage. Yes, a party is definitely in order!! :carrot: After the Aug. payment, there are still 108 more payments on mine. I sort of got excited when it got to be under 10 years, but that faded very quickly. Part of my job involves me in the work comp arena. Thankfully, I don't get into the thick of it very often! Sorry your ds is going through so much w/ his injury. I'm sure it's illegal to terminate in retaliation for a comp claim. If he violated safety policy…that's another matter. But if they want to terminate, I'm sure they'll find a way, right or wrong. Sigh.
Mel – Sorry your eyes are giving you problems. Rest up! "Ocular retirement". Lady, you certainly have a way with words! :D
Diyana – You certainly keep busy. Good job trying to get physical activity. I've been such a "lump" this week. No exercise, not even a dog walk. :( Yeh, waiting nearly 8 weeks for an appointment is ridiculous. I'm on some sort of list where I could possibly get in earlier in the event of someone else's cancellation, but that's just a distant maybe. My primary doc ordered an xray at a nearby hospital. I think I'm waiting to hear that the order went through, but I left him a message to make sure I understand what the process is – I assume he'll tell me who to phone, where to go, etc.
Happy – I know those online shoe stores like Zappos have free shipping for returns, but I still prefer trying on shoes before I buy them. Now that I'm having issues, it'll be even more important to go in person to get a good fit. Hopefully I'll find a couple brands I like and would feel comfortable buying them online. Let us know how you and hubby like those MBT shoes.
LOL re the layer of grease to keep warm in the pool. Mel, I suggest a wet suit. ;)
Annie – enjoy seeing your brother's band tonight. Gosh I hope you've found a backup for the regular doc while he's gone! Not to have that arranged when something is going on w/ your mom is not right at all. Ridiculous.
That chimi recipe sounds tasty! I have a quesadilla recipe that I think might do well on the GF grill, now that you've brought it up. Hmmm. Although I suppose that fold and tuck part would be important so stuff doesn't ooze all over…We used the wet paper towel method on our previous GF grill and it worked great. We now have the one with the removable grill plates, and that's very convenient, but for some reason, our current GF doesn't work as well with grilled cheese sandwiches as the old one. Not that I should be eating those…
Wish we had an electric mower, and all the neighbors. Sure would be nice if they'd do all their noisy yard work while I'm away at work, lol.
Ceejay - enjoy the rest of your long weekend. You know, I think I might have heard about the gangsters and hot springs once before. Of course we hear so much about gangsters in Chicago, I might be getting confused.
This weekend is finally almost here, and so much appreciated. :cp: This week just dragged by. No big plans. I need to go get the chest x-ray. Sat. morning I'm going to try a cardio class – spinning or step. Wish me luck! We're supposed to get rain on Saturday, so I might work on a sewing project. I hope Sunday will be nice. I want to do something outdoors. I was cycling a few weeks ago and saw a place from which to rent canoes. I'd like to try that.
Have a great weekend everyone!

DANG!! It's so beautiful out and I went for a walk. I was planning on walking for 1/2 hour or 45 minutes...but my calves cramped up after 15 minutes...just like the last time I walked on my lunch hour. I'm thinking it's probably my shoes. So I guess that means going to the gym for me tonight....or maybe walk the dog(s) wearing different shoes. I want to strive for at least 30 minutes of exercise 5-6 days a week. Plus, it's a beautiful day! Too nice to be inside. Wish I could go home right now....less than 4 hours to go. sorry for rambling. Just needed to vent.
Laura - Good for you for getting your chest x-ray this weekend! Don't overdo with the cardio if you're having lung issues. Aerobics means you need to get OXYGEN! Canoe-ing sounds like a lot of fun. I'd like to find a nice peaceful lake or river somewhere and go canoe-ing.

Hi chicks,
Annie - we have an electric mower that DH uses in the back yard as we just have 2 small patches of grass. It works just fine but I think you have to mow more often because it doesn't like high grass. He cuts the front with the big gas mower. Hopefully this one will get you through the season until you can get another one or pick up a bargain at the end of season clearance. Have a good time dancing tonight!
Michelle - I have found without a doubt that work shoes are not comfortable for taking a walk in. You pretty much need to keep a pair of comfy walkers in your desk. Good for you for keeping the good intentions tho.
Shad - EF Hutton was big in the 80's. They are a brokerage firm. Their tag line for commercials was - "when EF Hutton talks, people listen", because supposedly they gave such sage investment advice. That is until they got caught in their own scandals in the 90's. The commercials were all over tv and they had several scenarios as Laura said where people would be chatting and everything would come to a complete standstill when EF Hutton talked. It was just a play on words with Mel and the blue talk
Laura - I would prefer to try on shoes too but I wound up online because we don't have the store choices down here that you do up north and most of the stores carry fashion over comfort. I hope everything turns out ok with the lungs. Best get that checked now before the fall hits and all those pretty but moldy autumn leaves cause irritation. (I know Michelle - SHUT UP ABOUT WINTER  ) There's a place in off of Rt 53 that has a small lake where you can rent paddleboats that looked like fun. We always wanted to try that but never got the chance. Have fun with your aerobics class.
Ceejay - I agree with you - no more tent camping for me. Sadly I have found that I'm very sensitive to the wood fires now and that was my favorite part. I will have to check out the other places you mentioned.
 and :crossed: for your son Annie! It's a good sign if they have him going for a test.
Geez, I can picture you guys on a riding mower caravan coming down for the mortage party. Annie will be towing the portable margarita bar :hat: What a sight! Mel can be the caboose, Michelle will carry the change for the tolls. What a sight!
Lunch time is over, have a good weekend Awesome August chicks!

BUT THE MONEY WAS TOO GOOD TO PASS UP. THE STEROID DROPS AND ZYRTEC SEEM TO BE WORKING VERY FAST THIS TIME AROUND. MUST HAVE CAUGHT "IT" IN TIME. I HAVE NO IDEA FOR SURE WTF HAPPENED BUT IT IS ABATING. ALL IS WELL IN MY CORNER OF THE WORLD. SPENT SOME TIME WITH RICHIE THIS WEEK. HE IS MISSING JEN AND THE KIDS BUT TO TRAVEL FROM BROOKLYN TO THE TRAILER WOULD BE RIDICULOUS. THEY HAVE THE COUNTY FAIR THIS WEKEND. TOLD THEM THEY BETTER GO TODAY. RAIN FOR SUNDAY AND MONDAY! GOD WILL IT NEVER STOP RAINING IN THIS STATE??? YESTERDAY WAS ANOTHER WHOPPER! AND WEDNESDAY'S TOOK ONE OF OUR BIG WROUGHT IRON TABLES AND SMASHED IT TO PIECES IN THE DRIVEWAY! :faint: WILD AND WOOLEY WEATHER.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND I'LL GO BACK AND READ LATER ON.
HAPPY SATURDAY/SUNDAY :moped:
