Good morning!

06-29-2009, 01:04 PM
Well I didn't get all that extra exercise that I wanted to this weekend but I did get lots of house cleaning done and worked in in flower garden for a few hours yesterday so I did get some exercise.
I ate really healthy on the weekend too however I did slip in a small piece of apple pie.
Well the weather is supposed to be beautiful all week so I know I will get my walks in this week.
Wednesday is Canada day so maybe if it's nice, we'll float down the river. It's weird having a day off in the middle of the week.
Well gotta run.
Have a great day everyone!

hello all...just thought i'd stop by and say hi..
Xanthia has been sleeping through the night for about a week now..i'm amazed! my mom said that out of all 4 of us kids, i was the only one who was a good maybe that's where she gets it from? anyways, i'm not complaining. :) she has her 2 month check up tomorrow and gets her first shots....ick! i hate that. always makes me almost cry! but then again, she never cried in the hospital when they pricked her heels numerous times (she actually never cried until she was about a week old!) so maybe she also has my high pain tolerance too? we'll see.

so things are still stalled on the scale front..i'm not sure if it's me, or TOM coming up soon, or the meds my dr prescribed for my face (it's been so broken out for so long that i'm sick of it and she precribed minocycline..been doing some research on weather it causes weight gain since it is an antibiotic, but the reviews are mixed about not sure) anyways..that's that.

be back lots to do today.

oh and PS..if any of you ladies are into praying..please do so for me. i really need any good thoughts/prayers sent my way. i'll explain at a later time, i promise. xoxo.

Morning all!!

I had a one pound loss last week, not the two I was hoping for, but a loss is a loss and I'll take it.

My weekend was another rollercoaster or emotions. DBF and I are still working on things. We spent most of the weekend in seperate rooms of the house. I even went over to my empty townhouse on Saturday for a few hours. Sunday it boiled over.
I am trying to convince him that talking to a professional would really help him sort through the issues he's struggling with, but he's refusing. I think that if he could work through his struggles, things between us would get better. Any thoughts? He's a pretty stubborn person when it comes to doctors. It took me a few weeks to get him to go see a doctor about the numbness in his hand and pain in his shoulder. I think with enough other people telling him to go, he finally gave in. But went to a chiropractor, who told him if it doesn't get better, he will have to go to a doctor.

Jillian - thought and prayers are with you.

Good Afternoon Everyone. Not much new with me. Only 4 days of work this week and then vacation. Not going anywhere but home. Trying to get some stuff done that I keep putting off so I hope next week is productive!!

Jillian - you're in my prayers and you don't need to explain anything as to why you need them. Sometimes we just do.

I'll be back later. Make it a good day!!

06-29-2009, 04:49 PM
Hey guys!

Sounds like everyone had an ok weekend! For the first weekend since I moved to VA, DH and I were ableto just stay at home and relax. He cleaned out his parents garage and I cleaned my car. Good times!

I decided to take this weightloss thing 5 pounds at a time. When I was doing that a few months ago, it was easier! I have a weightloss buddy, my friend Audrey, and we're off to a great start! We worked out hard core today. She has a punching bag and declining bench. I did 3 reps of 40 jumping jacks, 15 crunches, and time with the bag. Then we went for a mile walk. My arms are killing me already!

We start off each morning at the pool, stop for lunch, then work out. That will be 4-5 days a week. I will be thin and tan in no time!!

Jillian- hope all is well with you, I will remember you in my prayers! I am so glad Baby X is sleeping for you!! Also, I bought Silk soy milk today to give it a try on cereal. We'll see how it goes.

Angie- Iknow what you're going through. DH and I fight A LOT. It's gotten better now that we actually live togeter, but we are strong willed people!! I am currently doing the 40 Day Love Dare from the movie Fireproof. It's for married couples, but I am sure you could do it as BF/GF. I HIGHLY reccomend it!!

Seems like we're all living for the weekend! (Well, except our Canadian friends...) DH and I are going back up to NJ! I cannot wait!!!

Well, off to make a smoothie, shower, and RELAX!

This is something that a person really has to want to do for him or herself. If a person feels they are being pushed into counseling, there's a very good chance they'll resent the person doing the pushing, and that will not make your relationship better. Also, talk therapy is very often a waste of time. The only really effective counseling I've ever been to was targeted toward changing behaviors - NOT talking about them.

Here's an article about where hubby and I went when we were having a rough spell:

I'd been to marriage counseling in my prior marriages and honestly this was so different (and much better). I really liked the workshops and the counseling, as it was based on teaching us practical skills to improve our relationship. I think if it were required training *before* marriage, there'd be a lot less divorce.

morning all. another night where baby X slept from 10pm-530am. :) yay. :)

also, i finally got the scale to move--down a pound.

baby X has her 2month check up today, and gets her first shots...wish us luck! i hate seeing my babies get poked! it just about kills me.
also, trying to plan Julia's 6th bday party..the cake is gonna be awesome! i'm super excited!

be back later. hope everyone has a great day!

Morning All

Jersey - if you don't like soy milk, you could try almond milk. I buy the Almond Breeze vanilla sweetened flavor and I love it!! Especially with Cinnamon Harvest Kashi cereal, it's what I'm having for breakfast today.
I'll make sure and check out the 40 Day Love Dare!

Lucky - you are 100% right. I've been in and out of counseling since I was 12 years old. Been on medication a couple times too. Talking to a professional is 100% a personal choice. And the only reason that I'm asking him to talk to someone is because he won't talk to anyone else, friends or family. His behavior has changed a lot over the past few months and he's very unhappy with that change, but doesn't know what to do about it. So I'm just trying to give him some suggestions. Ultimately it is his choice.
Thank you for the article, I'll check that out as well.

Jillian - can't wait to see pics of the birthday cake!

06-30-2009, 08:52 AM
angie--if you don't mind me asking, what's going on with your BF? is he depressed? i'm not sure if you said, but i missed it.
i've never tried almond milk..are the calories/fat/protein comparable to soymilk?

06-30-2009, 09:19 AM
morning all. another night where baby X slept from 10pm-530am. :) yay. :)

also, i finally got the scale to move--down a pound.

Congrats on getting the scale moving in the right direction! I've read that being sleep deprived contributes to weight gain so one more reason to be happy baby X is sleeping through the night :)

06-30-2009, 09:42 AM
Morning all!
I officially quit smoking last night. Almost 10 hours I'm looking for a ticker I can put up but haven't found much yet.
Scale is up a lb....that's okay...just trying to somewhat maintain for the next week or so then hopefully I will be over this quitting hump and hopefully be back to some walking or something...(ankle is still tender but getting better).

06-30-2009, 10:22 AM
Great job Kristin! Stay strong, you can do it! Also, FYI, grapefruit or lemon juice helps to detox your body from the nicotine, therefore getting rid of the cravings faster.

06-30-2009, 10:55 AM
I found a banner! Keeping me motivated! It's off by a couple hours but close enough!

I am using a low dose patch for now. Never tried the patch before...but I managed to cut down to less than 10 cigarettes a day for awhile so just using the low dose one for a week or two to avoid killing anyone :) DF isn't using anything (he didn't smoke as much as me, but has been smoking way longer). Hopefully we still love each other when this is over haha

06-30-2009, 10:55 AM
Good Morning Guys!!

Kristin- Congrats!! I LOVE the ticker!!

Jillian- good luck at the Dr.'s with Baby X! Congrats on the pound loss! It's a good start!

I am off to the pool in a little bit. I have been spending my mornings there recently. The sun is just as strong (building a pretty fab tan!!) but it's still breezy and nice out. Oh, and it's not crowded. My friend's son is on the swim team and tey ractice in the morning.

My arms and ab muscles feel like pudding today! That workout really worked me yesterday! I LOVE the burn!!

Havea great day guys!!

06-30-2009, 03:17 PM
Way to go working out Amy. You sound like you haves lots of motivation right now, that's great
Welcome to the ex-smokers club can do it!!!!

It has been a LONG time but I see some familiar faces. I would love to have the energy and committment right now to get back on track but my family is facing much worse. My DH was diagnosed the end of March with Stage IV Lung Cancer, since he has 3 rounds of chemo, radiation to the lung and for a brain lesion. Today was chemo so he is napping and I had a minute, well not really but I took it to get on computer and saw this on my old favs list so I thought I would say hi. Glad you are all still at it and best of luck to you all!

Way to go Kristin on giving up won't regret it!

morning all.
i set my alarm for 5am so i could get my workout done and out of the way for the day. :) fed baby X and now am enjoying some espresso and a south beach bar.
baby X had her 2 month checkup yesterday and is now 11lbs 6oz (was 7lbs 4oz at birth) and is 22 inches long. she's smiling all the time now and is starting to coo. it's sooo cute to see DH with her. omg..just melts my heart. he's soooo in love with her. it's so sweet.

anyways, i've been having a rough time lately, so those of you who have been keeping me in your thoughts and prayers..thank you!! please keep doing so, as things have only gotten a bit worse now. :( but i'm trying really hard to stay positive and keep the faith that things will get better..i just don't know when.
i'll fully explain myself soon enough....

katy---soooo sorry to hear about your DH. my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. stay strong and come on here anytime for support! we're here for you in all aspects, not just weight loss!

kristin--good job on not smoking. keep it up and think how awesome it'll be to see those ticker #'s get bigger and that $$$ you'll be saving! your lungs will thank you! maybe get some sugar free hard candies or gum to keep your mouth busy? i know a few people who've chewed/sucked on ice chunks to help them too. i'm rooting for ya!

ok..gotta go for now. be back later.

07-01-2009, 09:07 AM
Morning Everyone!

It's short work week this week, so today is more like Thursday since we get Friday off for the 4th. No big plans, but I'm looking forward to a three day weekend!! :carrot:

Jillian - no I don't mind at all. We were on the teeter-totter of staying together and trying to make things work or just throw in the towel because we won't be able to be happy together. So we spent some time apart a month or so ago and he wanted to make it work, so I went back home. I had already told him I wanted to make it work, but he was still having doubts, as he is now and has since then. Part of DBF's "issue" is that his expectations of our relationship are very high - most would say unreasonable. His life has changed a lot since his divorce two years ago. He never fully grieved his divorce. He thinks that his ex-wife never cared or loved him, they were together 12 years. But he's the one that wanted the divorce. He's pretty confused about what's going on in his head and his heart. He's a very logical thinker, so when it comes to the grey areas of emotions, he gets rattled.
And congrats on the two month check up and that baby X is sleeping through the night!

KristinX - congrats on quitting smoking!

Katy66 - so very sorry to hear about your DH, thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Hi Lucky, RepoGirl, Jersey, Hoochie and Mama Nicole!

Have great OP day ladies!

07-01-2009, 09:11 AM
Good WEdnesday morning to you all. I am back to work today and oh my goodness 7 work days away is to long. I feel like I have forgotten everything. I hope they take it easy on me today but I am sure that will not happen. TOM is here as well and I feel so completely bloated and I am so craving chocolate, what a morning. My little one just held on to me not wanting to stay with my parents. He loves them but they have been gone for 4 weeks and he was used to sleeping in and having mom to himself. He did not cry but stuck that little bottom lip out so pitiful.

KristinX- great job on quiting smoking, look at how much money you already saved!!

Amy- great job on the exercise!!!

Jillian- Things will get better before you know it.. Wow baby X is sure growing up quick!!

Katy66- so sorry about your DH

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday!!!

thanks for the almond milk info, angie! i'm thinking that soymilk has alot more protein, so i'll most likely stick with that since i use soymilk as a protein sometimes. :) i may try the almond milk to see if i like it though.
i hope things work out with you and your BF. it seems as if you're willing to do the work and stick it out. good for you!

Morning guys!!

I am so excited... I found all those workouts on Comcast On Demand! OMG< there are soooo many! And they are fun ones too! My friend is coming to my house today to work out, then we will walk again. I am prety sure we'll be doing cardioke today! Cardio+Karioke!!

Well, off to eat some breakfast- am trying Silk today with my cereal... we'll see how it goes! THen I am going to the pool like usual!

Have a great day guys!

07-01-2009, 12:45 PM
Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say hi real quick. I still read here daily but don't always have time to post anything.

Kristin - great job on quitting smoking! I've read before that taking B vitamins can help calm your nerves and any jitters you might have from withdrawl. It takes only 3 days to break the physical addiction and after you've made it through that, it's all in your mind.

Jillian - I'm glad to hear Baby X is doing so great and how your DH loves her so much! Hang in there with the other things that are going on and remember "This too shall pass."

Not much on this front. I lost 1 lb last week, found it again this week. I looked into health insurance plans this week for myself since I haven't had insurance in several years. My car insurance doubled since moving to a new city and with my budget it looks like I can either have health insurance or car insurance, not both. Car insurance is ridiculous in LA. I'm 35 and have never had a moving violation or accident and my car is worth very little. Liability insurance should not be $112 a month :( I'd really like to get some tests done and see what can be done about my thyroid too.

There's my rant for the day. Time to get my anger out with some boxing.

07-01-2009, 03:58 PM
Hey guys!

I realized last night how many workouts I have On Demand. My friend and I did a Jillian Michaels workout. HOLY COW. I am going to be hurting tomorrow!! We figure we'll do yoga tomorrow for stretching and walk. I feel so good with all this exercise!

I am going out to dinner tonight with DH and his boss. I am not happy about it as I am not a fan of his boss... I need to look at the menu ahead of time to plan what I am getting.

Hope you're all having a great day!!

07-01-2009, 11:21 PM
I've hit the 48 hour mark! Day 2 is worse than Day 1! Course it has been a very uneventful day off and I left all my sugar free candies at work....anyone know the calories in a tootsie pop? I think those would be good to suck on during my 40 minute drive to work...driving is when I wanna smoke the most :(
As of today though still only up a lb! Can't complain about that really...and I think the ankle will be good to start going going for walks next week!

07-02-2009, 08:47 AM
Morning gals!

Mommyofsix - we must have been posting at the same time yesterday. Hi!

Jersey - I just recently found all those free workouts on Comcast too! I did a yoga one last night. I also checked out an AM abs workout, you did it all standing up. Interesting.

Jillian - I tried soy milk a while back and didn't like the taste so when I found the almond milk I was so happy! I can drink the sweetened vanilla and chocolate by themselves.

Kristinx - that's when I do the majority of my smoking too - in the car. I rarely smoke at work so it helps keep my cost down. I also don't smoke at home often either, DBF doesn't smoke, except for the occasional cigar or the hookah. So I find it hard to get up and go into the garage or outside to smoke. But of course when we have a few drinks, I make up for all those smokes I don't have!
Great job on day two!! :carrot:

Hi lizababe and all you other great ladies that haven't posted yet this morning!

Unless I go up to Dunn bros this weekend to use the WiFi - have a great 4th of July weekend everyone!! Be safe and enjoy!!

07-02-2009, 09:31 AM
morning all. DH has the next 4 days off..i'm glad, we've barely seen each other for more than a few hours these past few weeks.
i was gonna get up again at 5am to workout, but totally ignored my alarm and slept until 630am. oops. guess i'll have to do it later today.
anyways..not much else going on.
i'll be back later.

07-02-2009, 09:47 AM
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. DD is doing okay. We've been honest with her about everything so she knows all the possibilities. She has ups and downs but we all do. I'm keeping her busy this summer in camp so that helps. I'll keep you guys posted and thanks again!

07-02-2009, 10:37 AM
Morning guys!

I am happy to report a 3lb loss already this weekend since Monday! Yey!! I am soooo excited!!

I am trying the Special K protein shake this morning for breakfast. The strawberry one is good! And not pasty like Slim Fast.

I want to get a walk in today, but I am totally feeling yesterday's workout!! It's such a good burn!!!

07-02-2009, 11:06 AM
Good Morning to you all.

congrats to Amy on the 3lb loss!! way to go keep up the good work!!!

Jillian- I am glad you a DH getting to spend time together.

KristinX- keep it up you are doing great!!!

To everyone have a wonderful 4th of july weekend!! Lets all try to eat well and exercise!!!

07-02-2009, 11:47 AM
I figured we could share out secrets for this BBQ-filed weekend!

My family all want brat wurst and cheddar wursts this year, but I willbe having a burger on a deli thin. I am bringing a veggie tray and will limit myself on my mom's potato salad. I will only drink one glass of homemade sangria, and a small piece of cake.

Sound ok?

I am taking my tennis gear to play, and my workout gear to walk and/or do Billy Blanks with my sister! Yey!!

07-02-2009, 11:55 AM
amy, the veggie tray sounds like a good idea. what about veggie sausages, hot dogs or veggie burgers?
and you could also make a jello poke cake (made with applesauce instead of oil) and top with fat free cool whip instead of regular frosting. has some good ideas for that cake.

i'd also recommend maybe a fruit tray or maybe doing some low cal drinks made with diet soda and fruit puree and a bit of vodka! ha...

maybe some frozen bananas on a stick dipped in fat free chocolate pudding and then freeze again. mmmm.

07-02-2009, 12:05 PM
Good Morning Ladies. And Dan too. Not much new with me. Just checking in. Don't have to work tomorrow and then I'm on vacation next week. Hoping to get some much needed tedious type things done around the house. You know, those things that you know need to be done but you just keep putting off. Well, next week is my week to get them done!! I'll let you know how that works out.

Amy - Congrats on the 3 pounds!! Awesome.

Jillian - The banana pops sound great. I never thought of those. And I'll bet all the grandkids would love them.

Katy66 - I remember when you were around. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Try to get some time for yourself during this difficult time.

Angie - I've tried the soy milk and wasn't crazy about it either. I'll have to look for the almond milk.

Kristen - Keep up the good work with the non-smoking. You are almost over the hump. You can do it!!!

To anyone I missed - HI!! Have a great afternoon. I'll try to check back in later.

07-02-2009, 06:51 PM
Hope everyone has a great 4th! I worked out with the trainer again today only to learn that he gave us 2 free sessions... so now only 12 left to go! I was in so much pain yesterday and today in my upper body and now he did me in for the lower body for the weekend! Oh well, its all good. Hopefully this will be the thing that gets me where I want to be. I spent a few days in the 140's and was devastated by it, but I'm back to 138 as of yesterday, now I just need to kick it into high gear and get to 125.

Way to go Amy on the exercise and losses, Jillian too! Kristin - great job on quitting smoking!

Mama Nicole
07-03-2009, 01:25 AM
Hooray for Kristen.........Hooray for Kristen.........Hooray for Kristen!!!!!

You know, they say quitting smoking is more difficult than quitting drinking or even addicting drugs. So, let me tell you how strong you are!!!! We are so proud of drive home at a gets easier. Do you like to sing? Cuz after just three days, your singing voice is already sing, sing fills your lungs with yumminess :)

07-03-2009, 08:16 AM
Actually, I used to sing! In church and in a band on occasion, but haven't in years! Smoking really hurt my voice...hopefully it comes back!
It's not too bad....I'm hoping I'll be okay still once I go off this low dose patch...
I told DF last night...ok, it great we quit and I'm proud of us but let's just not talk about it anymore...we're non-smokers now so no need to talk about smoking ;)
I kinda miss the action of's true that it is like losing a best friend in a way...a toxic friend but a friend nonetheless.

Scale is up a couple lbs, but TOM is coming so hopefully it's not all a real gain...though I really have eaten a lot of junk this week...
We're away this weekend but come Monday back on track and getting my sneakers out again to walk! I think the ankle can handle it now!

07-03-2009, 11:12 AM
hello all. i got up early and worked out, showered, fed the baby, did the dishes, cleaned up my espresso machine, baked a cake for our grill out tonight with the kids, and even made my hubby breakfast. :)
all before 8am. nice, huh!

so we're grilling with the kids and former dh tonight, i'm grilling veggie burgers and veggie "brats" of course and i'm letting DH have real brats (since they're his fave and i never let him have them..because they're soooo unhealthy!) so he's excited! and i'm making twice baked potatoes too. and i'm sure we'll have some type of veggie...salad most likely.

hope everyone has a good weekend. ;)

Yum, Jillian, sounds really good!

I have been lurking for a while now. I actually am back on the WL wagon. Also, I have gone off of meat again. For real, this time. For spiritual reasons, I don't really want to eat meat, but it is hard to cook vegetarian with kids. My daughters both despise meat, and keep asking to be vegetarians. I have been resisting because I worry about the health and nutrition aspects of growing kids, but I have finally realized that my kids don't want to eat meat for a lot of the same reasons that I don't want to. My mom suggested that I offer meat and meatless meals and let them choose. This is what I have done, and they have only chosen meat once this week. I have not eaten meat at all, and do not plan on going back to it. So, to make a long story short, I am on the health wagon, rolling slowing along.

For you wii fitters, have you tried to hula hoop for 6 minutes? It is intense, I tell you! Plus it is great entertainment for anyone who may be watching you. My daycare kids probably think that I am crazy!

07-03-2009, 12:23 PM
Have a great July 4th all my American friends! I am taking off for the weekend. I'm heading to a family reunion.Talk to you next week!

07-03-2009, 01:41 PM
Hey Katy! Looks like we're on the same page again! We've been trying a lot of Trader Joes meatless products. You have to play around with how you prepare them but they're pretty good. Low in calories too! About half of actual meat products.

On the Wii Fit.. I am lousy at the hula hoop. I do the yoga for 15 minutes every morning then 20 minutes of the boxing. Picked up some boxing gloves that fit the wii remote and nunchuck too.

Good luck with the changes!
