Well I broke down......
and bought a scale! I was hoping to only weigh my self on occasion, (when we go to sister-in-laws house). But I went and did it anyway.
I'm being told that I the way my clothes fit will give me an indication. DUH! BUT, the other day while I was getting dressed it occured to me that 95% of my clothing has elastic or is stretchy material. Which, mean that it will take quite a while for me to see the difference.
The good news is..... that according to my scale I've lost about 6 1/2 lbs. Not sure how accurate that is, but I'll take it . And from now on, I'll just go by my scale.
Now I just have to NOT want to get on the scale every hour

It's hard to not be a slave to the scale. You just need to figure out what's best for you. If I get on the scale everyday, I get too obsessed, but a whole week is too long. 2 or 3 times a week keeps me honest. It's when I don't weigh that I know I am ignoring the problem.
Good Luck!!

CONGRATS on your weight loss, Dyan! That is super!
I don't have a scale right now, but at my mom's house, she has one of those doctor scales (which brings back all of those dreadful memories of doctor's office weigh-ins!)
Blessings to you ~

Not sure if this is the thing to do, but....
I've determined my reward, once I've reached my desired weight.
I would like to renew my wedding vows! For our 10 year wedding anniversary. Our first wedding was held at my aunt's house and we had maybe 25-30 people there. I wore an ivory suit. But this time I want the big sha-bang! The beautiful white wedding dress, the wedding party, the reception, EVERYTHING
We've been married 6 1/2 years, New Year's Eve will be 7. So I have 3 years to lose the weight and plan a wedding/new year's eve shindig. 2005, will be a great year......
Dyan ~ looking forward to the years ahead.

I think that is one of the BEST rewards I have heard yet! And you have plenty of time, so you aren't pushing it. YAY!

You ladies, may not realize it, but you are great motivators. Sometimes, it's not what you say, but how you come across. You guys helped to put a smile on my face today. This seems to be the place to be when I need a quick smile .
Thank you for NOT telling that I was being unrealistic. I am very happy with this decision. Like most women, I have always dreamed of a beautiful wedding, but because of my size I didn't want to be on "display". All the dresses I found were hidious. My butt is big enough as it is, so why in the world would a I want a GIGANTIC bow on it? . Sometimes, I have to wonder what the clothes designers are thinking. But once the weight is gone forever, I willbe very proud to be put on "display".
Anyway, I went and did it! I got the scale yesterday. Bad Dyan!
I was pleasantly surprised, but have made Saturday morning my "Offical" weigh in day. So on Saturday whatever the scale says that is what will go into my "journal" so speak and under my name. I've also set a mini goal. I noticed that a lot women here have done that I found that to be a wonderful idea. So as of now I will also post my mini goal.

Dyan I have to say how selfless that decision was. I went to a wedding this last year an th ebride was big adn well her boosom would have put dollly to shame and she wore an off the shoulder dress, well i swear that her boosoms were going to come flying right out of there and she was totally un aware of te whole things I was sitting at the table with a bunch of roudly gusy and let me tell you that was the talk of the whole table they even had bets at when they would come flying out. so be gald that you did not do the big bow onthe butt gown. A nice simple dress is fine. I am sure that she did not think of any of that when she bought the gown. It was such a shame though. But I will say that the couple was a bunch of really back hills people so the dress was not a suprise to me.
I love the idea of a wedding for your prize!! how wonderful

Congrats on the loss!!!
As a self proclaimed slave to the scale, I warn you..be careful. Only weigh on saturdays. It's so difficult for so many people to not weight themselves constantly. We all want some feed back on how were doing. When we see those numbers go down, we are high as a kite. But when they don't move or go up...it's time for trouble. Just keep focused and your success will continue. And you will be having that wedding sooner than you realize. Which I think i a wonderful idea!!

I can't help myself
I get on that damn scale everyday! I get so mad at myself! But on a brighter note, I haven't gained and have been quite surprised every time. I was utterly amazed this morning. But like I said, Saturday is my offical weigh in day, so I'll post then, the amount of loss for the week.
Yesterday I went to a website called workoutplans.com, and did my first day of excercise this morning. And I am feeling good .
I've looked over the plan that they have given me and I must say that I think it's a good starting point for me, and once I get the hang of it, they will make it harder I'm sure.
I am trying my best not to think about the possible negatives in my life. Like the fact that my husband and I could lose our jobs at any moment. A friend of my husband's (from work), got laid off last night . We were both sadden by it. He had been with the company almost as long as my husband. I ,on the other hand am a contractor at HP and since their merger w/ Compaq I've been on pins and needles. But I digress! I need to think about the possitives! and I'm possitivily proud of myself, for not falling off the wagon and going into some sort of depression over the the negative possibilites. I'd say if anything, I'm more determined.

Dyan..BELIEVE me..I know..and I completely understand. Over 8,000 people have been laid off here and were all trembling. It's horrible that things must be like this. But I keep telling myself daily, with every door that closes, a new one is waiting to open. Keep your head up. Regardless of what happens, you'll be okay, as long as you take care of yourself. And looking at your post, your doing really well.
