Hi everyone

I was just wondering if anyone has saw this infomercial and if anyone has tried this. The creator of this program is Robert Ferguson.

Take care
Diane

It looks like it is a diet based on eating out at fast food restaurants? Honestly, you can lose weight as long as you reduce your calories. I personally think eating better foods (lower calorie) is better than eating smaller portions of crappy food.

If you really liked fast food and wanted to eat it, you'd just need to include it in your calorie counting. The system doesn't sound revolutionary and I'm sure it is just smaller portions of fast food.

I purchased the program and the first 21 days are designed to reset your metabolism. I have tried so many "diets" to lose weight that I ruined my metabolism. I'd like to return to more intuitive eating, and this seems like it will help me achieve my goal. The plan is about food combining - proteins, slow carbs and fast carbs. It is easy to follow. There are some restirctions in the first 21 days, but after that it gets even easier to follow. It is not an eat fast food diet - it's about not depriving yourself and moderation.

And how does it 'reset' your metabolism? A lot of the decreased metabolism issues come from yo-yo dieting and losing muscle.

This is produced by the same folks that put out the 6 week body makeover.

From what I've seen and read, it's little more than the method of filling your plate with 1/2 veggies, 1/4 starchy carb, 1/4 protein. Nothing new.

I suppose having a daily journal telling you exactly what to do might help some, but I find that always sounds better in theory than it works out in real life.

I have been on Foodlovers since August 10 and I have lost 17 pounds. It is not a "fast food diet" or EAT ALL YOU WANT diet. It is nothing like that at all.

You eat every 2 to 3 hours. You combine proteins, fast carbs and slow carbs to make a "Fat loss Plate". He emphasizes portion control and using visual cues to construct a "Fat Loss Plate". You get 3 snacks a day of anything as long as it is within a 150 to 200 calorie range. You are given recipes to try or in my case, based on the information he has given me..taking my family favorites and making them more Foodlovers's Friendly ( less fat, more fiber ect)..YOu can eat anywhere at any restaurant following the principles of this eating plan. I have not cooked ONE of his recipes because I have enjoyed tweaking my own.

Having had the program run by my doctor, he said, "Yes, eating more frequently and in a healthy way will speed up your metabolism". This was CRITICAL FOR ME. I was eating one or two meals a day for years and I could not understand why I wasn't losing weight, had a bloated stomach and just felt bad with gas and acid reflux.

Well, low and behold...NO MORE since I have been on FLs. My blood pressure is now 110/80. My doc, Harvard trained nonetheless, is VERY HAPPY with my results and he looked through the main booklet and said there is nothing "faddish about it".

He did object to the OPTIONAL 6 day Detox. I did too and I did not do it. I think "detox" is stupid. My first week on FLS I lost 6 pounds just eating the way the program told me too and now after 21 says or so, I am 17 pounds lighter.

The infomercial has a disclaimer at the bottom stating the program is based on Food combining, portion control and exercise. I believe in LOW IMPACT and I generally do 20 minutes of activity 2 or 3 times a day. NOthing HIGH IMPACT or BRUTAL. Just CONSISTENT.

If I had to sum up the program, it would be like taking the 3 Hour diet + parts of WWs by not limiting food choices and some of South Beach by the fast and slow carb principles.

Is it rocket science? No. But it is the first program where I have not been starving or feeling deprived.

Again, I DO the program

And how does it 'reset' your metabolism? A lot of the decreased metabolism issues come from yo-yo dieting and losing muscle.

SistaDiva, thanks for the excellent infomation on Food Lovers. I have done a ton of research on the internet and have found that people have no more hope. Everyone is so jaded.

I exercise pretty much everyday doing cardio and have toned my body and flattened my stomach with that quite nicely (from 34 inches to 32 so far). Even my healthcare questinaire at work that I had to take to get a discount on my medical benefits said I was doing a good job nutritionally and with my 30 minute DAILY workouts, but when the system went to give me advice on why I'm still over weight all it could tell me is to exercise more.

I lost 11 pounds in Aug just with exercising and eating right, but you know what? I did the same in Sept and not one pound of weight was lost. You know why? My metab has adjusted. The women in my family are all size fours when young and then they get fat as they get older. I am PROOF it is not all about eating right and exercise. It's all about metabolism. I can bump up my exercise sessions to 45 minutes now, but next month then what? 60 minutes, then 90, then 2 hours. I have dislocated my knee twice and the muscles surrounding my collar bones ache severely from using the Gazelle, so it's time for me to try something new.

I exercise anyway. I always have. I used to jog each day before I dislocated the knee, so all I need is a good eating plan that my metab won't adjust to.

I want to keep to my 30 min exercise and take it down to every other day and eat food that my family will love too, othewise it gets to be expensive. Thanks again SD. Your info was what I was looking for.

I have searched the internet for testimonials etc. and have noticed a strange trend. The comments are almost all the same, sort of like set speeches. Do you think some of these testimonials are fake?

To support the FLD, I personally know a guy and his wife who have lost 50-70 lbs each over the course of several months. They are on their way to California to film a commercial for the company. They look great and it worked for them! I'm trying it.....

I ordered the program and I lost 26lbs. I am not currently following it now because I have a few medical issues to work out, mainly with my thyroid. They do have a website that I am a member of and it has REAL people that did FLFL diet, myfoodlovers.com. Hope this helps anyone out there thinking about trying the program.
P.S. Mr. Ferguson is very nice and helpful. He will even email you back personally, not like some of these other programs when you don't even know the creator of the program.

Just out of interest, is there anywhere you could point me where I could read up about it?

When I put the name in google, I just get a page with purchase details, no content. I'm not trying to get a freebie! I'd just like to know the basis of the programme.
Thanks.

I have done everything from Atkins to Weight Watchers and I even took a nutrition class in Spring of 2011 but I haven't lost the weight like I need to. Every time I loose it I gain it back.

After a lot of research and debate and arguing with myself and then talking to the husband, we decided to purchase the Food Lover Fat Loss System. Both my husband and I have gained quite a bit over the past 10 years and it is time for a change. We needed something that we could both follow and support each-other in rather than me doing it on my own or vice versa.

I am curious to find out if any of you are still doing this program/system? Also, I plan on writing my own experience up on the forum once we get going.

Thanks for posting about it. Any tips you can offer?

I too have tried every program out there to lose weight and I can tell you that it's as simple as eating less and exercising/moving more. I can say that for me I was always impatient for the weight to come off and wanted an overnight solution. There isn't one. As I said, it's as simple as eating less and moving/exercising more. I count calories and exercise. The weight is slowly, but steadily coming off and I am learning to eat smaller meals and not grazing. I love how I feel when I am not full. I hate how I feel when I am full. I like looking nice and that is what is getting me thru this.

I just bought the program but have not received it yet. But after reading you post I feel So much better about it. I have tried way to many programs and have giving up because it was way to much work after a month of doing it. I feel very positive about this. Thanks again

Advice to anyone on this diet or thinking about signing up... don't do it. Food Lovers has absolutely horrible customer service. I'm 4 months pregnant on bed rest and they are still charging me and refuse to refund anything. They make it near impossible to cancel a membership. They offer online support for your account where no one ever gets back to you. They have charged me through Sept and they refuse to refund a dime even though I can't even access my account since it is cancelled. The diet itself is not unreasonable to follow but DO NOT sign up for any kind of account with the actual Food Lovers Company.

There is a summary of the diet on webmd that is pretty good.

I did there free trial. It is a pretty sensible program but I didn't feel like it was worth it to spend money on it monthly when I could track my food on other sites for free. I also don't believe that eating many small meals is better than eating 3 larger ones. But the plan is pretty simple and I can see where it can work for people.

I got this diet kit and I just refer to it to check portion sizes and combos of food. It isn't a fast weight loss program. It teaches you to eat healthy, cut out sugar, eat every 2.5 - 3 hours, and gives motivational tips.

I've lost 7.2 lbs in 4 weeks. Am I happy, yes, yes I am. I wanted to change my bad habits and start eating healthier. Have I cheated? Yeah. Do I cry about it? Nope. I only have to lose 27 lbs. I wanted at least a pound a week. I've found that quickly losing the weight doesn't work for me. I know if I can keep lost lbs off for four day...it's good weight loss.

So I only have 20lbs to go... and I know it's going to be a goal that I can reach because I'm eating real food. Tasty food. And it is easy.

My typical day: scrambled egg whites with spinach and mushrooms, piece of whole wheat low sugar toast. Snack: Motts natural apples sauce and 10 almonds Lunch: orowheat thin rounds (wheat or whole grain), turkey, dijon mustard. With a side salad with mixed greens, balsamic/oil dressing. snack: 2% string cheese/ or chunk of laughing cow low fat swiss and 3 pieces of melba toast, Dinner: Grilled chicken tenders with marsala and mushrooms, small baked potato, veggies or salad. Snack: 100 calorie low fat popcorn.

Don't eat an hour before bed. Drink water, unsweet tea, no diet or regular sodas. also, invest in one of those microwave potato bags for your bakers. you can cook a baked potato in the microwave in 4 - 6 mins. This is how I cook mashed potatoes now as well. I'm lucky I have a friend who sews to make me a couple of them:)

This doesn't feel like a diet because it's not. It's just a way to eat better and teach you not to starve your self. I love that it shows you correct portion sizes in relation to you hands, fingers, etc. I guarantee if you eat a snack in between each of your meals every 2 - 3 hrs, your body will lose weight. Make your snacks 150 or so calories. I have tons more energy now too:)

I got my Food Lovers diet kit on eBay and just started the 7 day slimdown before I start the 21 day makeover.
I started yesterday at 296.6.
For breakfast I had 2 breakfast patties, a cup of oatmeal and 1/2 cup of strawberries. My 10 am snack was an apple. For lunch I had a slice of meatloaf and 1/2 cup mashed potatoes. Afternoon snack was a banana and dinner was totally off the diet since sweetie brought home a couple of catered box lunches that they had from work. So dinner was a 6 inch ham sandwich with bacon, a bag of Doritos and a cookie.
My weight this morning was 292.2. Down 4.4 lbs! I know it is water weight, but it is a start.
I will try to put my progress here each day since they have closed the blogs for now.

Day Two:
For breakfast I had 2 egg whites with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. A bowl of apple and cinnamon oatmeal with strawberries.
I did the 12 minute fat burning dvd for the first time and it was actually fun. I hate to exercise!
For my morning snack I had a nice Fugi apple.
For lunch I had 1 cup of chili.
My afternoon snack was an apple again, because I just didn't feel like a banana and I love apples.
Once again dinner was off the plan. My boyfriend wants and needs to lose weight, but he does not want to diet so I am slowly getting him into it by compromising. He wanted to take me out to dinner so I had 2 bar-b-que spare ribs, 5 onion rings and a diet Pepsi. All items I should not have had.
But I am at 291 today, so I lost another 1.2 lbs.
Will see how the weekend goes since I will be with him the next 48 hrs. wish me luck :)

Day Three:
For breakfast I had 2 breakfast patties, a bowl of oatmeal with Strawberries.
I did the 12 minute fat burning dvd for the second time and it was actually a little harder but still fun. I hate to exercise!
For my morning snack I had a nice Fugi apple.
For lunch I had 1 cup of stew.
My afternoon snack was an apple again, because I just didn't feel like a banana and I love apples.
Once again dinner was off the plan. We went to IHOP, but he actually had a heart healthy breakfast for dinner. We had the egg beaters, turkey bacon, and whole grain pancakes with bananas. He had real bacon :(
Even though it is off plan the meal consists of 480 calories.
But I am at 287.2 today, so I lost another 3.8 lbs.
So day 1 -3.4 lbs
on day 2 -1.2 lbs
on day 3 -3.8 lbs

Day Four:

This day was very hard with all of the shopping and running around we had to do. We missed snacks and meals and I think we paid the price for it, but we still both lost. Just not as much. But it could just be starting to slow down since it is crazy to lose this much weight so quickly.
My sweetie is down 13 lbs in just 4 days and he isn't even following it 100%!

Breakfast was my egg white omelet with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions. Along with a bowl of oatmeal and strawberries.
The morning snack was very latesince we were shopping, but I got my apple in.
Lunch was 5 bites of a left over spare rib that my sweetie didn't want and I hate throwing out food.
The afternoon snack was missed. I totally forgot about it since we were watching football.
Dinner was a ridiculous amount of food and neither of us could finish our dinner. It was Coq Au Vin on rice with a side of mixed vegetables.
I did not get my 12 minute fat burning dvd in.

My weight this morning was 286.9, down another .8 lbs.
My start weight 296.6
So day 1 -3.4 lbs 292.2 down 3.4 lbs
on day 2 -1.2 lbs 291.0 down 5.6 lbs
on day 3 -3.8 lbs 287.2 down 9.4 lbs
on day 4 -0.8 lbs 286.4 down 10.2 lbs

Day Five:

This day was another very hard one since right when I was going to eat my lunch my sweetie called me and said he was going to the hospital ER. I dropped everything and jumped into the car. So no lunch or afternoon snack. We missed snacks and meals but we didn't paid the price for it, we still both lost. He missed so much food and was feeling so bad I gave him the Chocolate muffin he wanted.
My sweetie is down 15 lbs in just 5 days and he isn't even following it 100%!
He is having his wine, beer and chocolate!

Breakfast was my egg white omelet with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions. Along with a bowl of oatmeal and mixed berries this time. I had 1/2 cup of blackberries, raspberries and strawberries.

Lunch was missed since I was at the hospital, but I ate my lunch at 4:30 pm since sweetie is home for a few days so I can go to bed late. I switched it up and had a nice big salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
The afternoon snack was missed. I totally forgot about it since I was taking care of him
Dinner was 1 cup of stew. I could barely get the last two bites down.
I did get my 12 minute fat burning dvd in since I did it as soon as he left for work. The squats are still killing me.

My weight this morning was 284.8, down 1.6 lbs.
My start weight 296.6
So day 1 -3.4 lbs 292.2 down 3.4 lbs
on day 2 -1.2 lbs 291.0 down 5.6 lbs
on day 3 -3.8 lbs 287.2 down 9.4 lbs
on day 4 -0.8 lbs 286.4 down 10.2 lbs
on day 5 -1.6 lbs 284.8 down 11.8 lbs

Thank you This looks interesting .

I was not sure about this since I had read such mixed reviews and I was not about to put out that kind of money for yet another diet program.
It took me a while to decide to pull the plug so I went to eBay and got one there pretty cheap. I think about half the price, $60 with shipping.

I was surprised that my sweetie would even do it since he needs to lose but does not like to eat the same thing and likes his certain foods. But he is doing it somewhat, but has not had a single 100% day sticking to it and he has lost 15 lbs in 5 days!

Day Six:

My sweetie is home for the next two days per the ER doctor so we will see how this day will go.
Since he wasn't working he had nothing to keep his mind off of food. So I had to be the hardcore one and remind him why we are doing this.

Breakfast was my bowl of oatmeal and a banana this time along with my egg white omelet with bell peppers, mushrooms and onions.

My morning snack was once again an apple. I just love fugi apples :)

Lunch was a nice big salad with raspberry vinaigrette dressing.

The afternoon snack was missed. I totally forgot about it since I was taking care of him
Dinner was once again off the plan. We went to IHOP, and we had a heart healthy breakfast for dinner. We had the egg beaters scrambled, turkey bacon, and whole grain pancakes with bananas. He had real bacon
Even though it is off plan the meal consists of 480 calories.
I did get my 12 minute fat burning dvd and of course he just watched. The squats are still killing me.

My weight this morning was 283.6, down 1.2 lbs.
My start weight 296.6
So day 1 -3.4 lbs 292.2 down 3.4 lbs
on day 2 -1.2 lbs 291.0 down 5.6 lbs
on day 3 -3.8 lbs 287.2 down 9.4 lbs
on day 4 -0.8 lbs 286.4 down 10.2 lbs
on day 5 -1.6 lbs 284.8 down 11.8 lbs
on day 6 -1.2 lbs 283.6 down 13.0 lbs
