GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, you get 3 of them today:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

EXCELLENCE

Quantity is a poor substitute for quality. One small bit of excellence will outshine a whole room full of mediocrity. Doing one thing very well is a much more successful strategy than doing a lot of things poorly. Efforts which are focused and effective will achieve results, while efforts which are scattered and half-hearted are mainly wasted.

Some see success as a numbers game, and believe that it comes from knocking on enough doors, talking to enough people, and making enough calls. While it's true that you must knock on a lot of doors, you also must be able to deliver excellence when one of those doors is opened. Though achievement certainly demands a sufficient quantity of effort, there must also be quality and competence in that effort. The numbers matter, and yet so do such things as ideas, integrity, sincerity, knowledge and commitment.

Short-cutting quality to increase quantity, whether in business, relationships or personal development, at best brings gains that are only temporary. Lasting achievement, whatever the endeavor, comes from a commitment to excellence every step of the way.

-- Ralph Marston

***************

"I WILL"

"I hope" is very positive, and yet "I will" is even more so. "I might" gets you facing in the right direction, while "I will" takes you all the way there. "I'd like to" helps you set your goals, and "I will" makes them happen. "I should" is good at nagging, yet "I will" is the master of achievement.

The words you use influence the thoughts you think and the actions you take. And the words "I will" are two of the best you'll find when it comes to expressing, sealing and maintaining you commitment. Though words alone will not make it happen, the most positive, confident words will indeed make a difference in what does happen. A constant attitude of "I will" will always outperform an attitude of "I wish."

"I will" is clear and unambiguous. It puts the power of solid intention to work for you. At any given moment, you're filled with energy that can make things happen, energy in search of a purpose. Saying "I will," with sincerity and confidence, directs that energy precisely where you want it to go.

-- Ralph Marston

***************
LOOK FORWARD

Your past mistakes are quite capable of inflicting their own punishment. There is no need for you to help them. It is natural to feel guilt and remorse for things in the past which were wrong. Once you've learned from your mistakes, however, the sense of guilt serves no purpose. If you were to bury yourself in guilt and shame for the rest of your life it would not undo what has already been done.

Learn from the past and then move on. Avoid making the same mistakes again. Rather than beating yourself up with guilt, use that energy to take positive steps. Feeling guilty or sorry for yourself will simply make you sorry. Is there any use in that?

Take a breath of fresh air. The past is behind you. Focus on what you can do, not on what you could have or should have done. Your power is in the present, and it will influence the future. Take wisdom from the past and then look forward. There's where all your opportunities are.

-- Ralph Marston

Howdy Everyone.....feel like I have been gone forever, but just had a busy weekend. I though things were supposed to slow down when the kids got out of school? WRONG!

For all concerned parties....My friend and I made up on Friday. I had to approach her and ask her if she wanted to "talk", and with any upset there was some mis-communication, but I told her I couldn't believe she elected not to speak to me! Anyways, all is well, and that's what matters!

I just tried reading over everyone's posts quickly and everyone seems to be doing okay except BOB. Hope you get feeling better soon...this has been a doozie!

TranquilOf course you'll be posting that quiche recipe, right?

Hate to say it, but I have to get off line....have to drop off the kids at two different locations before going to work! UGH!

Thinking about all of you, and maybe tonight I can get in a "normal" post! Hugs and kisses....Nancy :)

Good Morning!

Another hectic week for me, so I’ll try to check in briefly.

Had a bad, bad, bad weekend. :( Late Sunday night, I got a glance of myself sans clothing in the mirror, and just went to bed and cried.

Feeling very dejected, like I don’t even want to try anymore. I feel like nothing I do will matter, so I might just as well not bother.

Sorry, don’t want to bring everyone down. Hope you all have a better day!

Debelli, where do you get those fantastic Ralph Marston quotes? I’d love to get Dan a book of them!

Nance, glad to hear you guys made up!

KimmyTK, what's JJ? I can't find Agave anywhere here.

Thanks,

Jenn

Morning everybody!

I too feel like I've been gone forever. Things have been so busy, but I have been reading, just haven't had time to post.

We got Jordan off to Norfolk last week-end. We finally heard from him yesterday. He's having a wonderful time, working hard and looking "buff". We all miss him terribly (even little brother) and I know this is a foreshadowing of things to come when he leaves for good next year.

Eating has been pretty good. I'm down another 2 pounds (that makes 35 total, yippee!). We started working with weights this week-end. I think that helps. Those of you that do both cardio and weight training, how many times a week do you do each one?

Joe and I did the coolest thing on Saturday night. We went with another couple to a park about 30 miles outside of town and did a moonlight raft trip down the Colorado River. It was a 7 1/2 mile trip and it was so much fun. It was a beautiful evening. My arms were a little sore yesterday morning from paddling, but what a fun way to get a little exercise in.

Gotta run now. Hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Talk to you soon.

Trish

Happy Monday Everyone!

Boy I really missed you guys over the weekend. I need to get my puter fixed at home. I can't wait to get to work to read all the posts. Luckily you all weren't too wordy this weekend and I didn't have too much catching up to do.

Didn't do too much this weekend, pool one day, bridal show on Sunday, then back to the pool. Eating was fine, but had a lot of wine.

Hopefully this week won't be as bad as last week and I'll get to post more.:D

Fruit, You can get a shot if you haven't had chicken pox. Yu should really do it being a teacher. The older you are, the harder they are on you. Look into it. I got it for my DD.

Bob, pleae post your squash recipe. I can't believe I'm eating squash.

Tranquil, DId you put something (arsnic) sp) in your ExH dinner? Just kidding that was really sweet of you.

Kimmy, Hi, Have a great week.

Nance, That was very big of you taking the first step with your friend. Good for you.

Jenn, Take that dejection and turn it into a positive. Start today. Make a promise to yourself to stay 100% totally OP this week. You will see the biggest change. Prepare and plan ahead for anything that comes your way. If you go somewhere bad, don't just eat anything, say what is OP for me and only eat that. Just one week. I know you can do it. I'll do it with you.

Trish, WTG 35 pounds. Great job. I work with wts 3x a week every other day (upper body) and do lower body the other 3 days. I rest 1 day, but walk 7 days. Yur moonlight raft trip sounds romantic, but I would have been scared to death the whole time, especially if it were dark out.

I read in a health brochure that to help with hot flashes associated with menapause, yu should avoid sugar and white flour and eat lots of fruit (da). It made me think that I used to have hot flashes alot and I haven't really had them for some time. Could it be SB??:o Go figure.

Have a great day everyone.

It sure was nice to get up this morning and find you guys here at the board. :) Let me just tell ya, it is HOT! More humid than hot I think. I had plans on running or walking this morning but I think I am gonna set up the kiddie pool instead. My beautiful daughter turns 15 today....her sister is going to be 8 in a few days. I'll attach a pic if it isn't too big of the 15 year old and yours truly. :) It's from back in May when she went to prom.

Nanc....I'm glad you and your friend were able to make up. There is nothing like a close friend.

Fruit....you might like shooting with your husband...and it's great for the arms. Robert is fixing to increase the poundage on mine. I'm excited. Last year I could barely pull the 42 pounds...it was funny..I"d grunt and strain..LOL Now I can actually hold form for the first 9 or so pulls. We painted a red spot on a sponge about 2 inches big. I'm hitting 1 out of three on the spot and the other 2 on the edge. I'm waiting on that 3 for 3. That competative side of me wants to be the best..I"m terrible. After 23 yards I'm a wash...my bow loses to much speed.

Trish....I know what you mean about missing your son. My oldest is spending this year at my mom's. He has a job and is finsihing up his school there. He's 17 but I still feel like he's my baby at times.

Kimmy....hey girlie!! Sorry your computer is being a pain. Hope you figure out why it keeps freezing on you. Have you ran a scan disk?

Jack-K....you are doing so good. I keep thinking I'm going to start with the weights but something always comes up. Not enough time in the day to do everything I want. I did get to run again last night. Actually make 1 mile and a turn around...:D The best part is I wasn't gasping for air till the last bit. My daughter ran with but bailed after the mile so I walk/ran the last 2 by myself.

Tranquil...You are so sweet. It would nice to live closer..except you told me about those palmetto bugs so you would have to be closer this way..LOL

Jenn---((((((hugzzzzz))))))))) Hang in there!!!!! Believe it or not, even after all this time I still get discouraged. You are doing wonderful by caring and trying. And pretty soon you will start seeing more results. You have been under a lot of stress and that truly has an effect on weight loss.

Well, the little ones are jumping up and down waiting on Mom to set up the pool...soooo..I'd better get to it. Many blessings this week.

Love,
Crystle

Well it is sunny out, DS's first day at camp, and hopefully he is having a blast - these two weeks he is in a Journalism camp. He has been looking forward to this for a long time! Then after he is finished with this he goes to Tennis Camp - and we got a new racket yesterday to get him all ready. He took tennis last year as well, but had to use the rackets they supplied - so this year he is ready to be a pro of his own!

Nance - the quiche - I took Deb's recipe and because I did not have spinach, I just doubled the brocolli (I also added some smoked cheddar cheese that I had in the fridge) - but the rest of the recipe remains exactly how she has it for her spinach crustless quiche - so yummy.

I am going to try a different quiche recipe this week - using a quiche recipe I found but just modifying it to lower fat and without a crust - if it turns out, I will definitely post it!

Jack-K - hahaha - I know my family would have been happy if there had been poison in the dinner last night - I did not even bother telling them he was over or I would never hear the end of it.... and he will be back tonight, yuch, did not count on this, but he is helping DS hang up the rest of his shelves in his room, and last night he did not have the right stuff to do the whole job. Maybe I will conveniently go for my walk without ds and leave him home with his dad...

Trish - What a fantastically fun thing to do - moonlight rafting! Wow!!! and Congrats on your weight!!

Hello to everyone!

We posted at the same time - beautiful picture!

I promise that the palmettos have been exterminated at my place, just don't visit anywhere else - actually, come visit in the early Spring and Winter, then there is less of a bug problem.... I think Deb and BOB and the Orlando crew have bigger and badder palmettos than Jax does ;) I am happy to report that the exterminator and lawn exterminator have done their jobs well.

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

For a Monday, I'm feeling good, better than I have in recent times. I got my butt out and did my 4.5 miles, so a good start to the week.

The kids are back and for the most part had a good time. They are tanned, but not rested, so I'm sure they'll be making up for lost sleep time over the next few days. Lauren came home with her hair braided all over, very cute, looks like Bo Derek! Now the fun of doing all that dirty laundry begins!

My sisters party was a nice surprise for her. I took her up to Broward to Ole Ole for lunch (she loves it there too but doesn't get to go as I do). She was thrilled with the fact that she was able to eat her lunch without the baby waking up. The weather was terrible though, it was teaming outside non-stop which didn't make things easy. We didn't get to do all that much because of the rain, but I don't think she really cared, she was out of the house and the baby was being excellent. My BIL did some BBQ stuff, nothing fancy and basically thrown together quickly, having my nephew and the 3 other little ones around makes it a bit hard to do much more than he did (he also cleaned the house). She was happy, so it was a good bday for her.

Not sure what's going to be today. I think we'll all just veg out for the day and try to get some things done around the homestead.

Oh, I heard from BUSDEB and she wanted to tell everyone she said hello. She's going through a divorce and just got the word she was hired for a new job as a 911 dispatcher. She says she's going to try and get back on the board soon.

TRANQUIL, how'd the Brocolli Cheddar Crustless Quiche come out? Dying to know as it sounds devine! LMK if you and SERENE have come out with a date to come for a visit. Hey, how about you come down the weekend that ELI'S Starbucks is set to open? I'm hoping it will be a Friday or Sat. night that they do it and then we could hit garage sales on Sat, if you are in to that stuff;)

ROSALIE, is the grill you bought similar to the GF ones? Hope you ar enjoying using it. I like the GF I have, but it's such a pain to clean! New jeans, new dress-sounds like someone is having a good time shopping these days.

MONET, as BOB mentioned, that was Lebanese food you ate! Sounds like a nice array of foods to try. I like kafta, esp. when I make it! Yes, it's one thing I do enjoy making;) The semolina cake you ate was probably namoura, which I make and is absolutely delicious. I do believe I could make it SB LEGAL even. I tried another Publix and they too said they won't do it. I think it's because it's due to the copyright. I'll try the one right next to his store, but I doubt they'll do it either.

TONI, check out some the eggplant recipe I posted for the gratin-it was delicious!!! That is, if you like eggplant!!

CHRIS, thanks, but I don't want to bother you with this image thing. I have only a small SB logo I could use and probably trying to enlarge it and send it would distort it. The other images I wanted to use were actual coffee labels they use for the bags. My idea was to have the logo in the middle of the cake with the labels flanked on both sides. White cake with green icing piped around the edges - good idea?

SEF, loved the FF's you posted!! Hey, new body briefer sizes? WOO HOO! You go girl! It's amazing how little things like this can make us so happy:D

ROSE, glad to see that the new things you are trying to incorporate into this WOE are working well for you-nice to hear. My Mom mentioned a carpet place in Hen. called USHERS, I think she plans on checking it out when they get up there. Yes, I have that book along with at least another dozen other ME books. Try to find A TASTE OF LEBANON, the best one out there that I have found, so I think:)

COUNTRY, thanks for your input no the recipes and your offer to help, it's greatly appreciated. Happy bday to both DD'S. Loved seeing the pic!!! Almost can't tell who's the Mother and who the DD is;)

BOB, good to have the chance to talk with you today and to hear you're feeling better. I know you'll b surfing the web tonight-let me know what you come up with!!!

QUILTER, gawd forbid I should only wear a bra when I walk, paleese, let's not even try to visualize the rest of the time how I would look if that were true! If I dare go without one at any time, these puppies face due south and look like they grew up in a mammogram flattening device! Oh, no, no, no!! Hope you enjoyed the weekend with your parents. Sis and I, don't think we look anything at all alike. Don't even think I have a pic to share to show and let you make that decision, maybe one day soon.

MUSIC, does Sarah have the chicken pox? Hope not!!! Oh well, if she gets them, at least it's not when school is in session. My kids got them at the same time, right after school stopped.

FRUIT, glad to hear each day that passes you are feeling better. Glad to hear you enjoyed having your nieces around and liked the movie. I heard it wasn't that good so didn't go see it, but if you think it's good I just may have to see it before it leaves the theatre.

KIMMY, hope you get your computer troubles fixed!!

NANCE, glad to hear you got things with that gal ironed out, I'm sure the discord it was causing wasn't good and now that things are back to normal you'll have a more pleasant week at work. What do the kids have planned for the summer?

JENN, so what's going on that is making you feel so bummed out? I'm sure that glance in the mirror is NOT as bad as you make it to be. It could be worse, you could have to look at my body in the mirror, now THAT'S a scary site! Nope, those pumpkin, sunflower, etc. are seeds, not nuts:) Ralph Marston has his own website: http://greatday.com/motivate/previous.html He does have a book out but nothing updated with all his stuff in there-check out his site-it's the best! I guess when one is feeling as you are at this time, you could find a lot of great stuff to read on his site to get you through these times.

TRISH, CONGRATS! Another 2lbs down and hitting a new milestone of 35lbs is wonderful!!! Glad to hear Jordan is having a good time. Your raft trips sounds so wonderful, something I would love to do!

JACKK, thanks for that info on the menopause and sugar. I'd love to read the entire article, wonder if the brochure is available on line. I've been having those hot flashes way too much for my liking lately!!

Okay, it's after Noon already-I HAVE to get something done before the day is totally shot to all heck. Will check in later.

Tomorrow is CHAT-does anyone have any objections to making it at 8pm EST instead of 9pm? Please let me know, otherwise we can leave it as is at 9:15pm EST, I just won't be able to make it:(

Good MONDAY morning everyone.... Now first I have to ask if a peanut is not a nut (I know it grows in the ground) what is it? Can we classify it as a protein or LOL a vegetable and eat a cup a day...???? This Thurday I have the dreaded colorectal exam... Yuck. If you can't spell it how can you have it... I'm in such dread of all the prep work and always scared of the hospital... SAVE ME! Hope everyone had a great week-end and are moving dead ahead with SB.... I found a drawer in the bedroom this morning with smaller jeans I had packed away... Now at 183 my smaller jeans are still huge but I feel like I got a prize... At least I won't have to roll them up at the bottom....

Debilli- Thanks for all the e-mails. You just are the best! I love the "I Will"..... That I believe is so true... Glad you got a nice run in. That really does start a nice week. I'll have to check the eggplant recipes out....

Kimmy- Sorry about your computer. Doesn't that drive you crazy. I had trouble Friday and so I ended up not posting over the week-end so I'm waaaaay behind. Glad you're doing well.

Nancemeister-I'm so glad your friend and you have made up.... You were so right to step up and talk to her....Hope you can get a break today....

Jenn in MN- Oh Jenn I'm sorry you had such a depressing Sunday. I know that every once in awhile it gets so discourageing trying to lose weight. Its like its the biggest Mtn. to climb and its so far to the top... I can't even look how far my top is. I have to just take each day and week at a time. Slowly crawling. But I just know and can feel theres light up there and I'll get there. Its when you see the overall big picture that it gets to you. And trying on clothes is the worst for me.. I can always get set back to paces by shopping.... You can do it... And we're all here for you....

Trishloo- Oh thats so great about your 2 lbs. and doing the happy dance for your total of 35 lbs. that really allot. What a wonderful Sat. night. The raft trip must have been beautiful... Lucky you... I've never hear of a night one...

Jack-K- When you have wine do you have red? I would like to have a glass on my birthday but don't know which kind. My sis is taking me out to a nice dinner while we're out of town.

CountryMom-Your picture is wonderful. You're both beautiful...

Tranquil- I think I need to try a quiche to. That way I can have leftovers for lunch... Thanks for the idea...

Guess I'm a little caught up now. Hope everyone has a great day..

Hello all. We are having a really sad Monday. It's probably made the national news by now. A bus full of teens headed to a youth camp crashed into a bridge pillar. It's tragic that 4 youths have been killed as well as the driver. They were only about 30 miles out from their church. Our youth left for Colorado last night and I can't imagine anything like this happening to them. I've just been praying all morning for those kids and their families. Please remember them today.

My DD seems to be recuperating just fine. She's gone to San Antonio to a choir camp. We took her bandages off on Friday and she began hobbling around. She took her crutches and Vicodin just in case. She'll be home late Wednesday but I'll be gone by that time, so I won't see her again until the 5th.

We drove down to pick up youngest DD from gymnastic camp yesterday. Left at 6:45 a.m. and returned about 4:30 p.m. She had a good week and improved on many of her skills.

DS sent an email from his ship yesterday. They will head into Pearl Harbor about 1 p.m. today and we expect to hear from him a few hours afterwards. He's had a good time and I'm anxious to hear what kinds of things he did on this ship. I'll meet up with him in Alabama Thursday evening.

Had a pleasant surprise with the scales this morning. I dreaded getting on them because I couldn't stop eating last night. All OP, but so much! I was down the two pounds that I was up yesterday. At least the bouncing around is lower. The next two weeks will be a big challenge and test. I've loaded up with nuts and legal trail mix, water and fruits for my road trip. I figure I'll stop wherever I can get a salad, and I'll be okay.

Deb: I found out where TJ's is in Annapolis and I know where it is! Right beside the mall. Now if you'll be so kind as to send me this list again. I'll write it down this time and look for them. I'll not try to bring perishables because I'll be flying back on the 5th and don't want to worry about keeping anything fresh or chilled.

Contry: Your DD is beautiful. Just like her mom!

Trish: Would love to raft anywhere, anytime to get some relief from this heat! Yesterday my DH commented about how nice it'd be to be floating down the Comal instead of cruising up I45! Hope DS loves his time in VA. Mine is loving his time with a ship full of Marines!

Jenn: I hope you feel better today. I know we want to see results quickly because society tells us if we aren't skinny, then we aren't worthy. Just remember that you want to be a healthy woman. This weight didn't add up overnight and it won't disappear overnight. Like Rosalie, I periodically input my food on Fitday.com to analyze my eating habits. Are you doing that? Use Deb's formula for calculating the amount of calories you need to lose weight. DON'T QUIT!!!! You are doing great.

I've run out of time for responding. Will try to get on later tonight. Gotta do some shopping with DD today to get ready for my road trip.

Take care y'all.

Hi all,

Just a quick post after a very busy weekend. The 25th anniversary ceremony was beautiful. My brother and his wife were so excited that my husbad was able to perform the ceremony. They said it meant so much to them. I am so proud of them for celebrating 25 years and they are still in their forties.(43) and (45)

I managed to stay legal all weekend, we even had a big barbeque after church. (Thank God). This is my last day off then back to work I go on tommorrow.

I'm hope to get back online a litte later. I have to take my two boys to the dentist.

Where can I find the recipe for this quiche everyone is talking about? Have a great day all.

Hi all!

Wow, last week I just whined a lot, then disappeared! Thanks for all the sympathy. I'm off the heavy drugs and just taking Tylenol or Excedrin when the throbbing gets bad. Last Friday, the dentist said that if the clove packing doesn't come out on it's own, then I have to go back in one more time! I was hoping I was done! He thinks it will be healed up by Wednesday. Today makes 17 days of teeth issues. I had no idea, it would take so long! At least I'll never have to worry about wisdom teeth again - all 3 were taken out.

I wasn't 100% OP during this time. I was trying to stay OP, but I was also trying to eat soft, and easily chewable food, that makes it a little more difficult. On Friday, I tried to eat a sandwich. Well, that sandwich ended up being cut into little pieces... my jaw just won't open that wide without pain, so I guess there's still some swelling. Anyway, the scale has been fluctuating a lot. I did see 126#, but today it's 129#.

I did check on the moon phase - nope, the moon was just a crescent when I had the wisdom teeth taken out. Neat info though!

Well, back to work....

Evening All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before I start to make dinner for Lauren and I. Eli's due home after 7pm and I don't feel like eating that late. Michael was invited for dinner at a friends house, so it's just Lauren and I tonight.

Didn't do a whole heck of a lot today, but you'd all be proud to know that my sink is clean, dishes are put away, I made my bed, kids bathroom is still clean and I actually did a 27 fling boogie! Okay, it's a start, give me some sort of recognition! Alas, I'm still fly larva! Things could be worse!

Okay, I have to ask to the two of you who voted OTHER in the nut poll-what nuts did I forget?

I'd like Suzanne to make us a board of stuff that has nothing to do with this WOE or dieting in general, just a board to post other "stuff". I thought about something catchy like OFF THE EATEN PATH, but didn't know if anyone would understand that-any other ideas? Does anyone even like this idea?? I want to get these new boards up and running for this Monday if it's possible, esp. since it's the beginning of the month and the second part of the year as well. I NEED IDEAS EVERYONE!!!!

TONI, actually, a peanut is a legume, like a bean, and is related to peas. It's actually considered more of a protein. Good luck with the butt testing this Thursday, I think it is wise to stay clear of beans for the next few days, don't you:shrug: CONGRATS on fitting into the new pants, only to find they are too big-ain't that the absolute best! Time to go shopping for some new pants!!

JRED, I did hear about that terrible tragedy on the news here. I wonder if the driver fell asleep the way they said he swerved. I worry many times when the kids have a field trip to a place up, say in Orlando, when they have to leave at 4-5am, just how rested are those drivers. I always tell my kids to sit in the middle of the bus in an aisle seat, just in case-over protective Mother I guess. CONGRATS on being down on the scale, I'm sure that was a nice surprise to see! Will try to get a list of items that I buy at TJ's that aren't perishable, but once again, go down each and every aisle and look at EVERYTHING cause I'm sure there's many more things that you could buy that I won't list or haven't seen as they are always getting new items in. My list really isn't all the long-remind me if I don't get it to you in a timely manner. Just do me a favor a pay homage to the store for me? Better yet, print my photo out and paste it to the front of the cart when you get there so I too can go shopping with you;)

MERCY, good to hear the anniversary party was a success. These days you just don't hear about long marriages, sad to say. My Grandparents, God willing, will be celebrating their 67th anniversary on New Years Eve. The CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE RECIPE is on the 2000 RECIPE BOARD: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=12700 but just in case you can't find it, here it is:

CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE

3oz 1/3 LESS FAT PHILLY CHREAM CHEESE,softened
1C Milk ( I use skim)
2 large eggs
1 carton Egg Beaters (to equal 2 eggs)
2C 50% less fat shredded cheddar cheese (I used Cabots)
1 10oz pkg frozen chopped spinach, thawed and very well drained (squeeze, squeeze, squeeze! - if too much moisture is in it, quiche will be wet)
1C frozen chopped broccoli, thawed & well drained (squeeze too)
1/2 small onion, chopped
5 fresh mushrooms, sliced thin (approx. 1/2c)
1/4tsp pepper
1/2tsp salt

In mixing bowl, beat cream cheese. Add milk eggs and egg sub., salt and pepper. Beat until smooth. Stir in remaingin ingredients. Transfer to a 10in quich pan coated with nonstick cooking spray (I used a pie dish). Bake 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out pretty clean. Serves 8.

TREE, glad to hear you are doing better and off the drugs. I'm sure the few pounds you gained are very temporary. I hope nothing else has to be done to your choppers!

Okay, I'm outta here for now, time to make something that I can call dinner for Lauren. Pork chops, for her Shake n Bake, for me, probably just grill it with some spices.

Will try to check in later if I'm able.

Hello All!

Well, today went really fast. Surprising for a Monday. We had a great meeting today with two women who will help us with our big fundraising event in October. That was great. We all feel so happy that these two wonderful people (who know a ton about silent auctions) want to help us.

My eating has been good, but I think I’ve been splurging on too many starchy carbs. Yesterday I know I went overboard on them. And will try and keep a handle on it this week.

Something in my refrigerator is stinking and I can’t find it. I just cleaned it out at the end of the week last week. This is a mystery. And it’s reeking so bad, I’m not sure I WANT to find it. Eeeek, somebody pass me a clothes pin.

DEB---Thanks for the great motivations. They were all wonderful and very much needed. I like the whole concept of “I WILL”. Makes me feel powerful!!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better this morning. Thanks for sharing about BUSDEB. Hope she gets along okay and has a good lawyer. Let her know we send good thoughts her way. BTW, you made me LOL thinking about yoru mamogram manufactured boobs. Silliness!!! I’m sure (and hope) you are exaggerating!!! Thanks for posting the quiche recipe. I searched out the cheesecake recipe this weekend and the quiche was the next to find. Very timely on your part!

KIMMY---Sorry to hear that you are having puter problems. That really stinks. Hang in there. Thanks for the heads up about the agave at JJ’s. I must go out there, but will need to plan a time since it’s a wee bit far for me. Do they have more than one brand? What have you been buying?

NANCE---Way to go on taking the first move to clear things up between you and your friend. Those situations are so awkward. I hate that kind of thing. I always second guess myself and try to reevaluate my viewpoint. And that doesnt’ do my self esteem any good. You are really brave to make the first move. Nice work!!! You sound super busy. Are you taking any “Nance Time” for yourself????

JENN---Oh hon, you know that you are not alone in those feelings of despair. Every single one of us on the board has at many times felt the same exact way. It’s so hard to get through those low periods. But you must know that you are doing the right thing by trying to lose extra weight and getting healthy. That’s the best thing you can do. Keep going. We are all here with you. BOB will slow the wagon down if you feel like you are going to fall off. It can be scary. Just stick with the program and stick with doing something GREAT for yourself. YOU DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!! We are ALL sending you tons of virtual hugs!!!

TRISH---Way to go!!! You are kicking butt and taking names. Thirty-five pounds is WAY COOL AWESOME!!!!! Keep it up.

JACK-K---Great point to bring up about the hot flashes. Thanks for sharing.

COUNTRY---What kind of shooting are you talking about? I’m confused. Is it archery? Just wondering. The pic of you and DD is adorable. You, two really resemble each other.

TONI---Hang in there with your upcoming exam. Haven’t had one, but dread the day. I did have to have something done to my kidneys once and for some weird reason, I had to empty out the other part too. So I did the “pre-game” flushing and it was no fun. But once that part was over, everything else was a breeze. BE SURE TO WEIGH YOURSELF WHEN YOU ARE THOROUGHLY CLEANED OUT. That’s probably a good thing to focus on is what the scale says at that point. Congrats on the smaller jeans. Awesome!!!

JRED---Have fun on your trip!!! What’s this legal trailmix you are talking about? I’d like to try that. Did you make it? Congrats on being down two pounds this a.m. Makes getting out of bed so much more fun, huh?

Okay, I have to ask:
What is all this clean sink business??? I must have missed something in my absence. Is this a new aspect of SB??? Come on friends, clue me in. Am I supposed to be washing all my sinks every day? If so, does that mean the stationary tub in the basement too? Just wondering . . .

I’m getting really geared up for Wednesday’s weigh in. Can’t wait to see if there was a different this week. Haven’t jumped on the scale since last wed. So this will be my first comparison. I wish you all luck too!

Take care.

Hey Everyone!

Just a quickie to say hello! My nieces and I went to my classroom today to begin the transformation of a cute primary grade classroom to an LSU shrine! It will be so awesome! I'll be sure to take pictures when it's all done. I sure got my workout today - I was up and down the ladder all day long. I'm sure my butt will be nice and sore in the morning - actually - I can already feel the pain in my entire body! I'm too pooped to post to everyone today but HELLO to everyone! :)

Hopefully I'll have more time to post tomorrow

Thought I'd check in and try to respond because tomorrow will be a busy one packing for my trip.

Kim: The trail mix is packaged and is by a company called Good Sense. It doesn't have the candy in it that other products come with. It has lots of different nuts, sunflower seeds, and raisins. There's no added sugar, and it's a great thing to munch on while driving. I've got that, some mixed nuts by the same company, my bottled water and some strawberries and apples ready to pack up. I'll be driving alone for about 10 hours so I'll need lots of things to keep me awake. About my freckles: I did blister when I was younger. In the 70s nobody thought about UV rays and damage to our skin. We used to use iodine and baby oil to baste ourselves! And laid on the roof to get the most out of our sunbathing. :o

Missy: Don't wait to have those moles examined. They may not need to be removed but you need to have them checked out. The doctor noticed a skin tag on my neck that I hadn't even mentioned and said it wasn't a problem. He told me to come back for a yearly checkup since this mole was displastic.

Kimmy: Hope you can get your 'puter fixed. Have you loaded new software lately? Have you run the defrag? Scan disk is a good thing to do as well. Sometimes we get so many temporary internet files that our systems slow way down. You might check and see about that. Email me if you need some help cleaning up your files.

Toni: Good luck with your test. Glad it's you and not me!;)

Nance: Hope you're doing okay this week. No more conflicts at work. That can be such a pain.

Jenn: You feelin' better, Hun? I hope so. Keep some of Deb's MMs up on your frig and tell yourself you are going to be successful. Keep saying "I WILL"

BOB: Are you still headed to good health? Take ALL you meds, remember!

It's time to go fix supper. I'll try to get on here before I leave, but if you don't hear from me in the morning, I hope you all have a great Independence Day celebration.

Joseph's heart cath was cancelled and rescheduled for July 26th. It was cancelled because he developed a yeast infection from the antibiotics he was taking. Our local paper ran a small article on us/him, mainly it was to ask for donations for travel expenses to Penn for his surgeries. I haven't heard anything yet. I have got the #'s for organizations that will fly u for free. Only prob is a waiting list. I don't have a date for the surgery yet. I just hope everything works out okay. Other than that, it's just wait and see. Things have been the same. And unfortuantely, so has my eating. I am still up a couple of pounds.

Hey--that's great--"Off the eaten path"!! Really great. I like it. Hope it makes it in, Debbie. Go for it.

CASHEWS! That's my "other" nut. Definitely my favorite.

Toni--Peanuts are legumes. Down here in them southern parts we eat 'em boiled! Yep, boiled. They remind me somewhat of lima beans then. Sometimes they are fixed cajun style, which is boiled with a lot of red pepper flakes in the water. Just a tiny kick to them then. I guess I like boiled peanuts just as well as cashews.

Last post for the evening...

How in the world did I forget CASHEWS!! Geez, you should of all slapped me one for that! I changed the OTHER into Cashews, hope you don't mind and hope those 4 votes were for cashews, if not, oh well.

QUILTER, unfortunately, I'm not joking when it comes to the boobs!:( Nope, they look like flattened pancakes-very sad, very sad. I lie down and they fall to the sides, a few more years and they too will be laying on the bed:eek: Can't do anything more than wear the bra as I don't think a boob job is something I want to do-I think there's no hope for me in this area. Just LMK when you want the cheesecake recipe, but for now, I'd steer clear of it. Be careful for those starchy carbs, they can easily bite you in the arse! As for the sink, those who've been flying with flylady can explain it better than I, but from what she says, you need to keep your sink shining every day. Visit her site at flylady.net (not .com).

FRUIT, try not to overdue things too much, esp. the talking! Go get some rest!!!

JRED, going to e-mail you in a few. Have a good, safe and fun trip!

HEART, you know we are all hoping for the best for BOOGIE and we're hear for you. As long as you are taking care of yourself, don't worry about the scale at this time, I'm sure after things settle down you'll be able to give yourself some time to focus on you, but for now, Boogie is moreso important than this WOE.

BOB, you said XL, I believe-so which one is it?

GATOR, thanks, glad to hear you like the idea of the other board. Thanks for the heads up on the cashews!

NITE!

Evenin' y'all. Got off to a good start today. Got in my walk this a.m. and stayed OP all day.:smug: I was up a couple of pounds this morning, but not surprised since I wasn't too good this weekend. I did good at supper tonight tho. The rest of the family had hamburgers while I had mine without the bun. It was still good. Sarah DOES have the pox.:frown: She feels fine, but has pouted all day because she can't get out and do anything.

BOB: Glad you're feeling better.:)

HEARTMOM: Sorry to hear things have been delayed. Yeast infections are no fun. Sarah gets one every time she's on antibiotics. We've learned to start heavy with the yogurt any time she's on meds.

JEANIE: Have a great trip. Has it cooled off over there this evening? It's really nice here. Expecting some rain.:)

FRUIT: Painting your classroom????? Are you possessed, or what? I don't want to step foot in my room till August. I know, not too dedicated, huh? Just a little burned out, I think.

COUNTRY: Thanks for sharing the picture. Your daughter is beautiful.:)

I wanted to report to you all my new way of controlling my water intake (aka getting enough in each day). I went to DOLLAR GENERAL (I love that store and bought the big 50 oz bottles of water. Can you believe they are 2 for $1? Anyways, I take that full bottle to work with me and try to have it finished by the time I eat my lunch. Then I fill it halfway up from the fountain at work (I really hate fountains, but I just don't have enough arms to carry two bottles with me right now) and finish that in the afternoon. When I get home I fill it up halfway again and I've got 100 oz done for the day. It sounds like a lot, but I was at a health conference and the speaker encouraged us to drink .5 oz for every pound you weigh.

Okay, that's it. Nitey night!

Well I did it, I worked out on my own, a little intimidated, but I managed. I did not have enough time to do as much as I normally do with the trainer because he was not there to clip the bars onto the weights, etc. - adjust the machines... all that time consuming stuff... but I did it on my own and I am sure things will get better....

I am brain dead - my sinuses are soooo bad - dripping, sneezing mess, that I don't even know what I have posted today! AHHH...

Prayers to Boogie!!!

I walked tonight - it was sprinkling and getting really ugly, so we did not do a lot of walking - a little over a mile. But at least we did something... I can see where I am thinning out - my capris are so much looser in the calves! It is funny, because the capris I was wearing tonight just came out of the dryer and they have some stretchy material in them so they tend to hug out of the dryer, but not tonight - they were still loose in the calf! Yeah!!!!

After tomorrow is WIW - and I am really looking forward to it... I am hoping, crossing fingers, and jumping for joy, that I have a good weight loss to report!

Deb - Cashews are one of my favorites and I never even realized it was missing! When is the grand opening for the new Starbucks of Eli's?

Bob - great news that you are feeling better - Meet Joe Black is a remake of Death Takes a Holiday, isn't it? I was trying to remember it - and I love Brad Pitt - he is Joe Black?

I am sorry all that I am not posting - but hello... and good vibes sent your way :D I just have to call it a night!

Hello All!

I have been mIA big time. I did miss you all. Terribly busy and - my internet was down for about 2 weeks! Something wrong with my cable connection.

During this time I stayed OP and dropped down to about 148lbs, exercising regularly and such. Well, my knees gave up on me so now I can't do step aerobics anymore! Bummer. I fear for my flabby skin...actually, I don't. It seems it's quite safe for the time being.

I am going to Miami tomorrow to pick up my mom at the airport.
DEB - I'll call you when I'm there! I don't think we'll have much time, but... it'll be exciting to be in town and talk to you.

I have been making pots and selling them. I have actually my first public showing coming up in 3 weeks. I am very excited and scared. EEEEEE!

Anyway, Just to let you all know I did not drop out or forget about you. NEVER!!

Love,

Mornin' All!!!

Just wanted to tell you quickly that I did sneak on the scale today. And I'm down 1 pound from last WIW. We'll see what happens tomorrow. I think the anticipation of wanting a LOSS tomorrow will hold me back from those dreaded starchy carbs. Will stay in the 2-3 servings today and see if that helps me keep that 1 pound loss.

Just a couple of quickies:

DEB---You are right about staying away from the cheesecake for the time being. All things in good time. I can wait. It's not like I'm really dying to have some right now.

BOB---I bought one bottle for me and one bottle for pinchable Paul. Ain't that fair of me??? I also drag so much stuff with me everyday (laptop in a huge case with all sorts of other necessities, lunch box, purse), I just can't add 50 extra ounces to that. Yes, I'll admit it . . . I am a WIMP. And you are NOT a big old DA!!!! I'll fight the person who says so.

TRANQ---Hey, congrats on the looser pants! That's awesome! There truly is no sweeter feeling than having pants be baggy. At least that's my opinion. Glad to hear that your hard work is paying off and you can see the results. Keep going, girl. You give me incentive to keep on the journey too.

VES---Ain't it the pits to have no internet connection? We have to send my laptop in to have the hinge fixed and I get sweaty palms just thinking about it. Yikes!!!

BKM---Paul wants to know if S rode The Beast. I told him I forgot to ask. Hope you are well.

Have a good day all. Must make lunches and get some clothes on this bod. Talk to you later. Who's making the chat tonight????

Hello Everyone,

Boy oh boy...it is too hard to keep up with all of you! I missed motivational Monday, so here is my contribution for motivational Tuesday!!

This sounds like me...taken from "Devotions for Dieters":

Grace was surprised. The hostess had offered her dessert and she had declined without even the slightest pang of remorse. Dessert had always been Grace's favorite type of food. Giving up dessert had been the worst part of her diet. Now, though, she found that she had declined without really caring. What a breakthrough! She felt she had a fighting chance. She had resisted temptation so long that it wasn't tempting any longer. Grace felt stronger than at any other point in her diet. Thank God. She was going to make it, after all!
Thought for the day: The more I turn down...the more my weight goes down!

This is my 24th day on SB and you all are right...it gets easier and easier each day. Stay positive!!!!

A few quick posts:
Trishaloo: I grew up in Norfolk/Va. Beach. May I ask why Jordan is in Norfolk? Most of our family is there and we go home quite often. We miss it up there tremendously! Your raft trip sounded wonderful!!

BOB: I have been using many of your recipes off of the recipe board...the Isreali salad was wonderful. I am making the second 1 gallon bag today. The whole family eats it! Also the whipped cream/pudding balls that you freeze....wonderful!!

jRed: I have to ask what camp your gymnast went to and what level is she? My daughter is 11 and is training at level 7, competing as a 6. We did a Bela Karoli's camp in Houston one year. What a fun sport for kids as long as you do not take it too seriously! Where in Alabama will you meet your son? We are in Mobile. Coming through here??

Summer is going well....will try to post to everyone else very soon!
Thinking of all of you!

Hi everyone,
Well the trip to the shore was relaxing,(my mom watched the kids). The day we left I ate a good breakfast(uncle sam cereal) and lunch(tuna and soy chips), figuring I may not make it through the day OP. Well not knowing where to get anything good to eat I ended up getting Pizza. The boardwalk is like a big carnival with the same types of food. Luckily I found an article in the local paper about a grill that was right near our hotel.....SO the next day I had a great OP day, Started with an omlette and cantalope, Lunch, mixed green salad w/grilled chick(at the grill) vinagrette dressing, snack....roasted cashews, dinner crabs, and a broiled seafood combo with two orders for mixed veggies instead of the potato! WOW that was a great eating day!!! And to think I pulled it off there. OK enough of that.....sorry if I made anyone hungry.:dizzy: My DH was very helpful, he likes that I seem in control of this WOE.

Deb
My OTHER vote was for cashews!!! I love them!!!

Your cake idea sounds great, can you decorate at all?
I have some really good instructions on how to transfer a pattern on a cake, you outline the pattern with regular icing, let that sit a few hours to crust, then fill the pattern in with a glaze, it comes out really neat! Its also very easy.

Thanks for posting the quiche again, I couldn't find it.

BOB
The beach was nice, nothing like where you are. We sat on the beach planning a trip to FL.....someday....:^:
We want to take the kids to Disney...and then visit a few beaches.

Country
The water was COLD!!!!! The board walk is fun.....but too full of teenagers right now that school just let out.
I have been to Padre Island twice, that was nice water!! Never made it to Galveston when I lived down there.
Your daughter is stunning!! Good pic of you too.

Hi everyone...
Still having computer problems...so just a quick note. I hate it when I type long ones and then lose them!

J Red...
I had not heard about the bus crash! That really is so very sad! My heart goes out to the families! My oldest is on a mission trip right now. As for downloads....no, I empty my temp stuff too. My 4.5 y/o did something back in Feb and it has not been the same since. If I need your help, I will e-mail....if it does not freeze LOL!

Yesterday the scales hit a low for me again.....116! It seems like every time I go swim I end up w/ a lose. Well, did not swim tomorrow and the scales were back to 117...fine for me....more than fine. I just need to exercise. I had brought home some kids from church Sunday and they just went home last night....so I did not exercise.

I am going to see Billy Graham on Thursday! I love that man. Michael W. Smith will be there as well. Hope I do well driving down town! I get so freaked by d/t traffic!

Prayers for Boogie as well. I will lift him, you, your family and the doctors involved up in prayer.
One of the kids I brought home this w/e has had several heart surgeries. He is a twin and born w/ heart problems...but I am not sure what. How frightening it must be. My hubby does caths, but not on kiddos. My hubby needs a total heart transplant (not literal)......but that is another story!

Kim...
They only had one tpye, Cactus Farms. Mind you I only went there once. It is far for me as well...about 25-30 minutes. The kids loved it! So maybe we can plan on the first of July??!! I need more and just think it is cool.

Better run.....

Happy Tuesday everybody.

Well, it is so hot down here. Summer just started and it looks like it's going to be a long one. I just have to remember that it could be worse. I feel so bad for those poor people in the West U.S. with all the wildfires. They've had a burn ban in place for several weeks here. Fireworks will not be allowed except in public fireworks displays.

Kimmy - glad things are going well for you. Hope the computer gets better soon.

Nance - Good for you working things out with your friend.

Jenn - You don't have to apologize for voicing your feelings. That's part of what makes this board great. No one to judge you. We're all in this together or we wouldn't be on this board. Everyone has those feelings at times.

Tranquil - That quiche sounds terrific. I'm going to have to try it.

Deb - Glad to hear you're feeling good and that the kidlets are back. I'm sure they had a great time.

Toni - Good luck with the test and congrats on those jeans. Isn't that fun? I wore a pair on Friday that I hadn't had on in at least 3 or 4 years. They were tight, but they were on!

jred - Glad you're daughter is doing well. I saw the bus accident on the news. Has there been any more thoughts as to what happened? That is so scary. I wonder if the driver had a heart attack or something. Seems unlikely that he would have fallen asleep that soon after starting off. Very sad. Yes, Jordan is having a blast. He called last night and they had been on a Coast Guard cutter and went to some Marine Special Services training place near Chesapeake? Where do you find the trail mix you mentioned? Sometimes I just buy stuff at the bulk area of the health food store and mix my own.

Quilter - Those starchy carbs can be a killer. I know everyone is different, but I seem to do the best when I limit it to 2 per day.

Fruit - Girl you're making me tired!

Heartmom - Our prayers are still with you and Boogie.

BOB - Sounds like you're finally on the upswing. Don't overdo, though. Have you watched "The Replacements"? Watched it last night, it was pretty funny.

Tranquil - Good for you working out on your own! I'm impressed.

Ves - Welcome back. Do you have a website with your new stuff on it?

Gumbo - Jordan is in a program called the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets. It's a youth program similar to ROTC. They have 2 week training camps all over the country in the summer on military bases. He's been there since the 16th of June and is having a ball. He'll be a senior in the fall and plans on joining the Marines when he gets out of high school. Hey I didn't realize you were in Mobile. We'll be going to Florida the end of next month and drive through Mobile on our way. Maybe we can get together for lunch or something on our way through. Send me an email if you'd like (trish@watkinsinsurancegroup.com) and we'll talk.

Chris - For me staying OP while away from my routine is the hardest thing. Sounds like you did a pretty good job, though. Also sounds like you had fun.

Well, I guess I should get to work now. Sorry if I missed anyone. Have a great day.

Trish

Good Morning Everyone

Well, the scale wasn't very good to me this morning, hope it improves by tomorrow. I was up a pound from yesterday and three pounds from my lowest. But I was a bad girl yesterday. I had taken some lentils, veggies and brown rice to work for dinner but was persuaded to go to the cafeteria with a friend. I had rotisserie chicken, which was o.k., but blue it by having a plateful of frenchfries. That was certainly too many starchy carbs for me in one day, op or not, as I had a ww wrap for lunch and pancakes for breakfast. Oh well, to-day is another day and I'll have to stay 100% op. For breakfast I am having two boiled eggs and a salad. I may try to make the Feta and Sweet Potato Quiche later, if time permits. Having a slow start again to-day as I worked yesterday evening and got to bed very late and so up a little later than usual. The story of my life. :) Have to do some grocery shopping to-day and this evening I am going to my grandson's grade 8 graduation.

Deb - You and Monet have got me interested in semolina cake and I have been checking out some recipes on the web. My mouth is watering and I am dying to try some but there are so many different recipes out there. Do you have an easy recipe that could be adapted to sb? I can't see why agave couldn't be used for the syrup. Also what type of semolina do you use? Some of the recipes I found call for semolina flour and others say course semolina. I promise if I make it I won't eat it all. Maybe have one piece and take the rest to work. I think my new grill is similar to the GF although I have never seen the GF. Just going by what I have read. Mine is a Hamilton Beach and it is very easy to clean as the cooking surfaces are removable.

HeartMom - Sorry to hear that Boogies heart procedure was postponed. Will send good thoughts your way. This must be a very stressful time for you. (((((((((HUGS))))))))).

Nancemeister - Glad to hear you have made up with your friend. Friends are too precious to lose over a misunderstanding and someone always has to make the first move.

CountryMom - That's a beautiful picture of both you and your daughter.

JRed - That was so sad about the bus accident. My heart goes out to those families.

Sorry I can't respond to everyone. It just takes one day without posting and it's so hard to keep up. I had a busy day yesterday. Was out doing a bit of shopping in the morning, then off to badminton and then to work. Goodluck to everyone for WIW tomorrow.

Bye for now.

Good Tuesday Morning!

Just got in from my walk, and a walk it was, not a single jog. It took everything I had to get my butt out there, just didn't feel like I had any stamina to go, or want, but I went and even though I got a late start and it took me a little over an hour along with the fact that I got caught up in some light rains about a mile from the house, I'm glad I pushed myself out there and did it.

It's TUESDAY TIPS and I found this tip on a site that I thought was worth while to pass along for those of us who like quiche but want some sort of a crust:

For a crustless quiche, butter a pie plate with 2-1/2 tablespoons butter, then cover with toasted ww bread crumbs, pressing them firmly into the butter. Chill well in the freezer, fill with your favorite quiche filling recipe, and bake as directed.

I'd probably try to use less butter and not sure just how it would come out when it was being served, but again, thought it may be worth passing along:)

Another interesting article:

Caramel color

Caramel color is not a flavor; it is a food coloring agent. Caramel color is used in almost any product that is brown. The top two consumers of the color are Coca Cola and Pepsi. It is also used in rye and pumpernickel bread, cereal, iced tea, syrup, dog food and pancake mixes.

Caramel color is based on a carbohydrate raw material. Most producers of caramel color prefer to use glucose syruvp as the initial carbohydrate. Glucose syrup is almost pure dextrose. While U.S. glucose syrup is usually corn syrup, it can also be derived from potatoes, wheat or other sources.

Caramel color has no animal-derived components. Although lactose (a milk sugar) is one of the permitted raw carbohydrate reactants, we are told by Sethness, the world's largest caramel color company, that lactose is not used by any caramel color producer in the world. Almost all industries begin the process with glucose syrup. Caramel color is exempt from government certification, which means that it is an approved food ingredient that can be added to foods without obtaining government permission.

The initial carbohydrate reacts with chemicals such as food-grade acids, alkalies and salts. It is then heated to a high temperature, put under high pressure, and then processed to burn. The resulting product is a burnt-colored liquid which has a high level of coloring power. For example, according to a caramel color technician, ¼ teaspoon of caramel color would be used in a bottle of Pepsi.

Refined beet or cane sugar can be used to make caramel color, but it is not the preferred method. The only time sugar would be used is Passover, when Jewish laws do not permit the use of corn syrup. Products containing caramel color derived from refined sugar would be labeled as such (9).

Geez, it's almost 11am! The kids are STILL asleep-lazy bums! I better get in my replies and go get something to eat, by the time I get finished it will def. be time to eat lunch and I haven't had anything at all as of yet:eek:

MUSIC, I hope Sarah doesn't have a bad case of the pox.

TRANQUIL, that's great you got in your workout AND a walk as well. Hope your sinuses are better today. Not sure when his store is going to open but the party will most likely be done after he gets back from his trip, towards the end of July. As soon as I have a clear and certain date, I'll let you know.

VES, sent you an e-mail, hope you got it. Would love to be able to see you today! CONGRATS on being down to 148-you're doing great!

QUILTER, hope those scales are even kinder to you tomorrow-crossing my fingers for you. BUT, you know, if there's a chance they are up, you can't let that get you down, as long as you are doing everything the way you know you should be you know if the scale shows you up that it's due to something besides a fat gain!!!

GUMBO, I absolutely LOVED your contribution for our MM-it's great!! THANKS:D

CHRIS, sounds like you had a great time all around at the beach! Nope, Deb can't decorate a cake, heck, Deb can't even cook! I can decorate a T-shirt, maybe cake decorating the way you described would be something I could do but I wouldn't try-I'd hate to make a mistake and screw up an entire cake. I think I'll leave it up to the professionals.

KIMMY, how much is the agave at that store you mentioned to QUILTER? If it's cheap, I'd grab it, you can't find it anywhere down here anymore.

TRISH, we can commiserate about the heat together. Where in FL are you coming to-if you told me, I plumb forgot (age).

ROSALIE, please let me know if you make that quiche-I'm dying to try it, sounds delish! I will get you my recipe for the namoura. You can use WW semolina. I can't remember off hand the number I use (grind), but will let you know. If I don't get it posted in a timely manner, let me know, remind me. Yes, agave would be perfect in place of the sugar!

Okay, one kid is up, Michael and he wants to use the computer, so I'm outta here.

No one replied, does anyone want to do chat at 8pm est tonight, or keep it at the regular time?

Morning!

All I can say is it must be the full moon! Dan and I have been sniping at each other for three days now, I’m tired and cranky, and am having the worst time staying focused and OP.

Thanks to all for the encouragement – I am trying to get myself back in order. TOM is due next week, and I want to eat everything under the sun, and none of it healthy.

On the bright side, I have Salsa Chicken cooking at home, asparagus waiting to be steamed, and ½ cup of NSA Rocky Road as a planned treat IF I behave today. Also on the agenda for the week is Barbecue Pork (made with SF catsup and diet cola), and after a trip to Whole Foods tonight, we’ll be set for Spaghetti Chicken too. Wish me luck keeping all this together!

I don’t think I’ve done too much damage to myself weight-wise… I don’t tend to put it back on (beyond a 3-4 lb. fluctuation) unless I really binge for days and days. I am fairly confident that once the weight is off, I can keep it that way IF I don’t go crazy.

Some good news on the home-hunting side… Dan’s mom has offered us a firm $ amount for the down payment plus expenses like closing, etc. It’s a loan, but hey, it’s more than we could come up with ourselves at this point. If all goes well we might have a house by the end of this year!

Deb – I only have one mirror in my place, and it’s in the bathroom for make-up. I was over at Dan’s, and caught a glimpse of my whole body. No matter what he says about me not being fat, I know the truth – it was staring me in the face! Ugh! :(

Anyhow, back to the hectic rush here at work. Thanks again for the advice and kind words – they are greatly appreciated! Sometime soon I hope to carve enough time to reply to everyone again.

Hugs,

Jenn

Hi all. Hope this is a good day for everybody.

They are speculating that the driver of the bus fell asleep. It was early in the day, but he may have just come off of a drive the night before. The bus company isn't talking. The paper this morning said that companies in TX are required to carry a $5 million insurance policy for accidents but neither of the two companies that owned the busses had it. So sad. If you've seen pictures of the bus, you know it was a miracle that more weren't killed.

Gumbo: My daughter was at Karolyi's camp. She loves it there. It was her third year to go. She's between and level 5 and 6 right now. Beam is her forte, and she's working really hard on gaining upper body strength to do better at bars. She doesn't really like the giants (swinging around the upper bar completey extended for you who don't have gymnasts at home) and even as a baby didn't like swinging high. It's funny how well she does on that little piece of wood! She doesn't compete with a club, just on the school's team. We have a wonderful high school coach and our girls team has won state 3 out of the last 5 years and been in the top five for the last 7. I just hope she's still here when we get to HS.
I'm driving to Huntsville this week, so I'll be going the opposite direction from you. I'm supposed to hook up with Beth but she hasn't posted in a while so I hope we can still meet. She did say she was going to be very busy.

Trish: The mix was in the produce section of WalMart. There are plastic bowl containers and zip up bags. The brand is Good Sense. I think they direct their marketing at Hispanics. They were on a wire rack with dried fruit, nuts and seeds, etc.

Well Ladies and Gent: I have to go buy a new coffee pot for DH since ours quit pumping water this morning! Had to go to 7-11 for our morning coffee! And I still have some packing to do. I'm not taking my laptop on my trip because I'm flying home and want all my extra room for my TJ's purchases. Debbie, I have my list in hand and will most definetly pay homage to you. Which aisle? I hope you have a great WIW and a wonderful rest of the week.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to everyone!

I got back from my family reunion yesterday but was just too tired to write. Funny how so much visiting and eating can make one so tired. I gained 1 1/2 pounds over the weekend but am not too upset with myself as I knew it would be difficult to stay OP. There was so much pressure from my well meaning Aunts to just try the delicious dessert and get back on my diet later  It seems that my family is the worst for trying to sabotage my weight loss efforts. Does anyone else ever have that problem? Anyway, I did have a wonderful time visiting with some cousins that I haven't seen in many years.

Deb, thanks for the motivating thoughts on Monday. It was just what I needed after a weekend of eating badly. It is behind me now and I am focusing on being back on program and working towards my goal. I am also applying those thoughts to my life in general, especially with my impending divorce. I am just looking to the future and the opportunities that are to come. It will just be easier when I can get the ex-2-b out of the house.
Maybe Tranquil and I can come for a visit when the new store opens at the end of the month. I love yard sales and looking for bargains. Should we plan a trip with or without our kids? What is your preference?
About those hot flashes you are having.......have you had your estrogen level checked? I had the same symptoms when I was 40 but thought I was too young for menopause. Well, was I surprised to find out that I had I had indeed started it! Now that I take hormone replacement and thyroid medication, I feel much better. I also keep my zoloft salt lick near by and I am just fine! ;)

Busdeb..... I'm so sorry to hear that you are also going through a divorce. I can sure relate to what it is like. It can't be over soon enough for me.
:?:

Country...... the picture of you and your daughter is beautiful. You look like you could be sisters. I wish could come out your way and do some shooting with you. I love archery, although it has been years since I shot. I was on an archery team in high school. Of course we just used very simple equipment way back then, nothing fancy like there is available today. I've thought about buying a new bow and doing it again. I have some great ideas for a picture that I could use on the target! Bad, bad, me!
:nono:

Kimmy, what a bummer to have computer problems. Wish you could come use one of mine. We have 4 at our house that are networked so that they can all be online at one time. I would be glad to share. When my daughters friends come over, they get online and instant message each other instead of talking in person. How did we ever get along without the computer when we were kids? I went to see Billy Graham last year when he was in town, along with Michael J. Smith. He spoke in the stadium where the Jaguars play and it was packed. It was a great blessing to hear him in person as I've always loved him also. The
worst part of going was the traffic leaving after the crusade. Hope you have a wonderful time.

BOB, tree and fruit.........glad that you are all starting to feel much better.

Tranquil.....I hope you feel better soon. You sound so stuffy and miserable on the phone. Too bad you have so many people bringing their germs into your office, on top of the sinus problems. Take care!

Hello to everyone that I can't reply to right now. I have to go work for a few hours. I will try to check back later. Anyone going to chat tonight?

Man, it's almost 4:30 and this is the first time I have got to check the board. Bummer:(

I hate it being so crazy here at work. I don't even have time to go to the potty. It has been one of those days with a black cloud over me. Every 15 minutes something was going wrong. I just want to go home an dcrawl under the covers. Tomorrow will be better hopefully.

I brieffly skimmed the posts. Hope I didn't miss anything too important. If I did, would someone please call it to my attention. Sorry I don't have time to post to everyone.

Deb, Loved the "off the Eaten Path" Too cute. Sorry I don't have time to come up with any ideas on the recipe board. Plus I'm not to keen in that dept anyway.

Fruit, you asked me a questions, but now I have forgotten it. Will try to go back and find it.

had something else to post, but it has also lost my feeble mind.

My aunt (80) feel last nite and broke her hip. So now I will have to make hospital visits in my "free" time (me and my DS) Luckily my DS doesn't work and can do more (good for me). I don't know where this is going to lead.

Hope the scale is good to everyone tomorrow.

Hugs coming your way {{{HUGS}}}

Hello ladies, may I join you?

I just posted my bio on the board. I've been lurking for about a week and I've enjoyed the friendly, sensible advice and conversation that flows freely here.

I reread my SB book last week. I must have purchased it several years ago and obviously never followed it. I see so many weight losses and health gains by reading your signature lines. When I make some progress, I'll be adding mine, too.

I'll go back to do some back reading of posts and recipes. Be back later.

Evening All:wave:

Thought I'd get in a post before deciding what the heck to do with the chicken breast I took out:rolleyes: Didn't do a whole heck of a lot today, grocery stores were the highlight of my day.

JENN, hormones can wreck havoc on us in more ways than one. It can turn us into *****y women, if you can you imagine that! It will pass and then you'll turn back into the sweet young thing that you are;) That's wonderful that Dan's Mom is going to help you out to get a house, makes hunting for one a bit more easier I'm sure. Hon, what you see in the mirror may not be what Dan sees. He probably goes well beyond the exterior and loves you for the person you are inside. You, as well as many of us, are far more critical on ourselves. I often wonder how the heck ELI could even want to see me in the buff with all the flab hanging-it's terrible, yet I do believe he doesn't even see what I see and looks at me, not at me, if you get my drift. What I want to convey to you since you are young is not to wait and let whatever weight issue you have go on and on and on as I have for so many years. Going up and down with my weight has caused my skin to lose it's elasticity, have terrible stretch marks and rolls of fat that won't leave without being cut off. Don't get older with this problem only to find yourself in this situation at my age, take care of it while you are young and while your skin will bounce back and you won't have the permanent "scars" that I have with my skin. Not only will you feel better, but you'll be loving seeing yourself in that mirror!!!

SERENE, I doubt that you ate that much to gain 1 1/2lbs, you would of had to consume 5,200 calories MORE than you usually would, so I'm sure it's just the change in your schedule and will come back off as fast as it came on. Well, kids, hmmm, I'd say if you can find someone to watch them it would be a whole lot better. Not that I don't love the little devils, I have 2 of my own, but they sure don't want to be dragged around to yard sales, lunch, and gosh knows wherever else we may venture out to, like Starbucks for the evening. We have to make sure ELI is here as well, not only for the SB opening, but too cook some decent food. If you had to count on me I can tell you you'd go home with a weight loss! Hmmm, maybe that's not such a bad idea;) Haven't had my est. level checked, that means having to go to a Dr., right? Nope, haven't gone for my yearly check up YET. When I do, I'm sure he'll be asking me if I've developed hot flashes. When I went to him last year (for the first time), he mentioned that I may see some signs when I hit 40 and I looked at him like he was nuts-he put a curse on me for sure, right after I turned 40, like a month later, I get hot flashes. I don't like it one darned bit!

JACKK, hope things at work settle down for you. I would think that with all that happens your day must go by faster. Glad you liked my idea OFF THE EATEN PATH.:) Hope your DA has a speedy recovery, not so easy when they are that age.

GYMNUT, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!
http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg Of course you can join us, we love to have new members join in at any time. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it's always nice to learn more about our new members. I'm sure you will feel right at home. As you have read, we are definitely a friendly bunch and we're here for each other in any way, shape or form. Don't ever hesitate to ask questions, we are all more than eager to help and to throw in our 2 cents worth of advice. I'm sure you'll do great following this WOE, we're all behind you 100%. Thanks for all the prayers. The power of prayer is great. This morning 2 elderly women called me and told me they were sending a donation. I need to see about opening an account in Boogie's name just for the donating to travel expenses. Today I have stayed 100% OP. Can't believe it, but it's true. I am going to cook chicken breasts on the grill and make fresh(from our mini garden) snap beans, peas, and a squash and zuchinni dish. For breakfast I had an omelette(1 whole egg and 2 egg whites,1sl. of 2% cheese, 1 sl.turkey). Snack- orange & nsa yogurt. Lunch- a legal sandwich. Snack-nectarine. I had one diet coke and am on my 6th glass of water.

Hello Everybody! Hope you all are well. We got a good solid storm today, so that means I don’t have to water tonight. Yippee!!! That’s really good since it took me over an hour to get home tonight. Yuck! It’s usually a 15 minute drive. When it rains, cars go crazy.

Had a good day eating. A couple of the girls took the walk up to the vending machine. Another (super thin) girl said she didn’t want anything, but she’s walk up with them. So I walked up with them too and didn’t get anything. That was a pretty cool feeling. I truly didn’t want anything from there. I knew my 1 serving of oat bran pretzels was down at my desk waiting for me. Let’s hear it for packing our own lunches so that we can have full control over what we put in our mouths!!!

GUMBO---Thanks for the Tuesday Motivation. It was great and really gives us all hope. I know that my MIL has been on a low-carb diet for two or three years now and she’s truly lost her taste for sugar. She doesn’t even want cookies anymore and she used to be a cookie freak! So there is truly truth in what you shared.

CHRIS---Way to go with going the extra mile to find legal food. It can be so impossibly hard at times. But you have encouraged us all to not give in and to keep looking. I must ask you: what are soy chips? Are they good? Where did you buy them?

KIMMYTK---Thanks for the info on the agave at JJ’s. I need to get some, but I think I’ll take DEB’s advice and try to stay away from the really sweet treats for a while. I remember I used to love agave in my hot tea. Yummy. Hey, good luck getting to the BG evening. I sure hope it doesn’t rain on you all. I thought about going, but don’t want to bad enough to fight the crowds. I’m sure you will do great driving downtown. I am down there four days a week and it’s a breeze. Do you want me to go out tomorrow and find some ideas for parking and then give you exact directions on how to get to them? I’ll do that for you, kiddo. I’ll be down there all day. If you want me to do this, email me and we’ll exchange phone numbers. It’s a breeze to get from 71 south to where you are going. I’ll be glad to help. Above all just be careful of that nasty curve at the end of the Lytle Tunnel. The signs that say slow down really mean it.

TRISH---You are really wise to stick with two starchy carbs per day. But boy is that difficult. Today I had 10 triscuits at lunch (which is 1.5 servings) and 1 serving of those luscious organic oat bran pretzels. And that’s all I’ve had for the day. I’m feeling deprived!!! LOL. Let’s hope tomorrow’s weigh in blesses us both for such a huge sacrifice.

ROSALIE---This feta-sweet potato quiche sounds wonderful. Is this something you’ve made before or is this a first go-round for you? If it tastes as good as it sounds, please share.

DEB---I like that crust idea. Very good one. Thanks for the reminder not to give all my power to what this scale will say tomorrow. I really have to keep my mind on the long range goal. I realize it’s going to take a long time to get to my goal. I just have to keep my spirits up no matter what the numbers are.

SERENE---I know exactly what you mean about having terrible eating habits around my family. They eat everything that’s fattening and center everything around the dining room table. I’ve crashed quite a few times when I visit some of them. Now that you are home you can get back on track. It’s good that you just got back on the board and are focused on the woe you know will work.

WELCOME GYMNUT!!! Glad to meet you. You are at the right place if you want inspiration and encouragement. Thanks for joining us.

I’ll try to get on the chat tonight. Hope to see you all there.

HiedieHo All!!

My you miss a day or two and you might as well have been gone forever. There are so many posts! Will try to play catch-up!!

Have been busy. Had a meeting to go to for Habitat. One of our churches is going to build a house. There was an organizational meeting and I was asked to attend to give their publicity team some pointers. Other Board members were there to give advice on their specialties. It was all very interesting to me as I have not been with habitat that long.

All my other usual activities have been keeping me out of trouble. I framed the dolphins and hung them. It really sets off that wall. Also framed some family pictures, I've been framing and copying pictures for awhile now as I could afford the frames. I think I have all the ones I want now, so will make a rogues gallery on one wall of my bedroom.

Catch-up!

BOB: Hillbillies don't just live in your neck of the woods you know. We have them back east too, you know, mountain people. Glad you are feeling better, though not fully cured! The SW site says you won't be charged for a second seat if you can't buckle seat belt without an extension. Just charge if you flow over the armrest and it has to be raised for you to sit comfortably. The first time I flew to Houston I JUST was able to buckle up. The next time I had to tighten the belt as it was loose! I sort of eyeballed the end of belt, will hope that the end is longer when I fly in September.

QUILT: You asked if briefers are hot. I don't think so. I've worn them for so many years I don't even think about it. When I don't wear one I notice the difference in the way I feel. They do help my back. Probably because they help hold the tummy in and less pull on the back. Glad you had good visit with your folks. How great that it was an up time for your Mom, I know how "arthur" can be a tempestuous suitor. Seems to me you only need one bottle since you are reusing it and not using the second!

MUSIC: Was SArah definitely diagnosed with chickenpox? I was a late bloomer, I had all my chidhood diseases in high school. Hope she is OK.

NANCE: Glad you and your friend came to an understanding.

JENN: We all have down times. But the old song "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try all over again" is true. There are times when it is very discouraging and it hits us, but that doesn't mean we won't be able to rise again. Come to the board, moan a little, listen to the words of encouragement and your determination and strength will return again! And you will have learned something along the way......that you can do it. Also you seem to have alot of stress with wedding, house etc. Cut yourself a little slack and not be so hard on yourself!

TRISH: WTG on 2#!

COUNTRY: Two hot babes!

DEB: Glad you and sister had such a nice day and her surprise party topped it off. I really did not think the briefers would fit, just wanted to see if I could use them as a guage for what size I needed. Really thought I would need old size as they are so old and stretched out, never thought they would fit! I figured if I was lucky I might get the same old size and a smaller cup.

JRED: Saw the article about bus accident all we can do is pray for them. You must have quite a job keeping up with the kids schedules!

TREE: That's aoiding food the hard way! Hope your mouth is able to work better soon!

HEART: I admire your strength in coping with all that is on your plate (and I don't mean food!). I hope you are able to get some assistance with the transpotation.

GYM: WELCOME! Of course you may join us, we like newcomers!

Gotta go! For supper I made Italian Sausage. Sam's has a NSA brand. I cut hot and mild into 1" or so pieces, browned it, added onions and peppers. There were some leftover boiled potatoes so I sliced them in for the family after setting aside sausage for me. To my sausage mixture I added slice yellow summeer squash and cookwd it all until squash was tendeer crisp. One word......YUM!

I tried everything imagineable and could not get into chat room. I've had it, the last time I'm trying!

Take care all. Goodnight, Shirley

Hello everyone. Rise and shine! Or rise and shimmer slightly or rise and get a cup of coffee and wake up in front of the tv. Select whichever fits you better. LOL!!!

Good news from Scales Central. I am definitely DOWN this morning. Had DH read where exactly the needle was hitting. It's hard to truly say because the needle wasn't very steady. But he said I'm down THREE today!!! Yippee!!! Boy, does that feel good. Now I realize this isn't a FIRM three because of that shakey needle. But I'll take it and I'll be satisfied next week if it stays there and stops bobbing up and down. Do you have shakey needles? Is there anything to do to stop the shakey needle? If I were to buy a new scale, what would you all recommend?

Also wanted to say it was a great chat last night! Had fun getting to know COUNTRYMOM, SERENE, MERCY & TRANQUIL. (Glad you're feeling better TRANQ!) And it's always fun to chat with BKM. Met a couple of newbies onto our chat room, hoping they will join us here on the board. Sorry I missed the early chat.

Hope you all have great days today.

Good WIW Morning,

YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS!! Down two more this week for a total of 12 lbs. Come on ladies if I can do it, you can to!

I have been using alot of recipes from the recipe board. We had the chicken stuffed with mushrooms and garlic last night....hhmmm gooood! We have become addicted to the Isreali salad. We have been making a one gallon bag at a time and it dissappears within 2 days.
My eggplant needs to be picked from the garden today and before I had no ideas what to do with it. Thanks DEBELLI for the eggplant ideas...I am going to try one of them tonight!

Remember...water is important....I do sooo much better when I have a day when I drink all of my water...I wish I would get paid for all of the trips to the loo (british for the john!).

Gymnut: WELCOME! You will love this group. I just began June 1st....these folks are so supportive and encouraging!

Quilter: Congratulations!! WOW --- 3 lbs! Way to go! I also had a needle that would not stop moving...I got into the car and drove to Sears. They had all types and prices. I purchased a medium priced digital. Now I use the two...I still get fluctuations on both. But by using both I get a better feel were I am. GO SHOPPING!

Serene: Sorry I did not get to chat to much last night. I'll try again next Tuesday. My family kept saying..."MOM...are you playing? It is your turn!" Next week, no family games at the same time! Now I know how to get onto chat and how it works. At least I learned how to do something last night!

I hope the scale goddess is good to everyone today. If not, work work work and drink that water! You can do it!
Have a wonderful day!

WIW is here again. I found the 2 pounds I lost but it's TOM and I feel mega-bloated so I'm not too worried about it. Just have to keep doing what I'm doing, I know.

Rosalie - How do you make the feta and sweet potato quiche? That sounds wonderful. Oh and did anyone see Sarah Moulton yesterday evening? She made a stuffed eggplant that looked wonderful. I'm not a big eggplant fan, but this looked wonderful. May have to try it.

Toni - I keep forgetting to ask, where in Missouri is Eminence? My brother lives SW Missouri.

Deb - We're going to Panama City Beach the last week of July.

Jenn - That's terrific about your house situation and don't ya just love crockpots.

Jred - Can't remember when you're leaving. Be careful whenever it is.

Serene - Good for you getting right back on the wagon. I agree family reunions are hard.

Jack-K - So sorry to hear about your aunt. That's an awful thing for her.

Gymnut - Welcome to the board. This is a terrific place for support and a good kick in the behind when we need it!

Quilter - Send some of the rain our way. It was raining when I left work yesterday and by the time I got home, it had missed us completely. WTG on the 3 pounds!!

Sef - Yum, your supper sounded good.

Gumbo - WTG on the 2 pounds. You're doing great!

Hope the scales are good to everyone today!! Gotta run.

Happy “Hump” Day!

Joined the FLYlady site yesterday – will have that sink shiny tonight! I did my baby steps this morning, complete with a brief declutter. (Sorry to those who haven't a clue what I'm babbling about - I am just a little excited to do something constructive!) :D

Eating totally back OP as of yesterday afternoon. On the menu today:
1 cup Cheerios w/ ½ cup skim milk
2 hard-boiled eggs
1 4 oz. Chicken breast w/ salsa & lettuce
2 Wasa Rye crackers w/ 1 wedge Laughing Cow cheese
1 sm. Apple
Dinner will be grilled tuna, tomato, & cheese open-face on sourdough bread, with mixed veggies (no carrots for me) and a side salad.

How does that look??? Any suggestions?

I got my 20 minutes of the WATP tape in this morning, and will hopefully make it to Curves after work. This evening we’ll run a couple of errands, do laundry, and I will balance checking accounts and do bills while Dan does some reading. Exciting, eh?

I'm up a couple of lbs. at 183 this morning, but I have a feeling it will be gone tomorrow and I'll be back at my 181. I would so LOVE to see that scale drop below 180 and stay there! That's my mini-goal #1.

Sorry I missed chat. We go to a couple’s group that meets every Tuesday, and it usually goes until about 9pm CST. :(

Nose to the grindstone again!

Hugs and thanks to everyone for the encouragement the past few days. It’s really helped a LOT!

Good Morning

No changes here for WIW. The same couple of pounds up and down as usual. I made the Feta, Sweet Potato and Spinach Crustless Quiche yesterday and it was delicious. I've put some in the freezer and will be having a piece for breakfast this morning. It even tastes great cold as I had a nibble when I was getting it ready for the freezer last night. I also made the Cheesecake a few days ago. I made just half the recipe as I wanted to put it in individual pans and I only had three of them. I ate one and put the other two in the freezer. The second one I took from the freezer and had it on the second day and it was perfect. So I will be trying that again. Next time I will make the whole recipe and put some in to individual foil pans.

Quilter - Congrats on that three pounds down, even if it was with a shaky needle!! I assume you have a mechanical scale. The only explanation I can suggest is either you are not standing completely still or there is something loose in there (in the scale I mean  ). If you do buy a new scale and go for the digital make sure it will tell you when the battery is getting low. I had one a few years ago that didn't say when the battery was getting low - it just started weighing incorrectly and I had gained some pounds before finding out that it was weighing low. Be warned!!. I vowed at the time that I would never use another digital but my ds bought one recently and that is what I am using now. Good for you resisting that vending machine yesterday. The Sweet Potato Quiche I made yesterday (see above) was from a recipe Deb posted a few days ago. It made a great breakfast this morning.

Gymnut - Welcome to the group. Looking forward to getting to know you.

JackK - Sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope they can fix the hip and get her walking again.

Gumbo - Twelve pounds down - that's awesome, and in such a short time that you have been on sb.

Jenn - Your menu sounds good but I wouldn't worry about omitting the carrots (unless you don't like them) as they were given a reprieve recently. The gi of carrots is much less than what they originally thought - now they say 49 for cooked carrots and raw carrots of course are much lower. Also their carb content is very low - only about 6 grams per 1/2 cup. Hope you are feeling better.

Trishaloo - The Quiche recipe is on the latest Recipe Board, posted by Deb. It's well worth making. It was delicious.

Hi to everyone I missed (most of you I know) and I hope you all have a good WIW. Have to go and get started on some laundry. May go for a swim this afternoon and badminton this evening.

Marie.

Good morning everyone. Had to pop on early and do my Happy Happy Happy Dance!!! I lost 3 pounds this week... I can't believe it.. I'm so excited.... Hopefully next week I'll be down into a new number and out of the 180's forever..... Tomorrow I go for a colonscope and so today I can only have liquids and laxitives... Yuck... Imagine I'll want to eat a bear tomorrow afternoon... LOL.. Wish me luck...

Jenn in MN- It is a full moon isn't it! Or one just pasted. Your food sounds wonderful. Wish you were cooking for me.. LOL. You can do this!!! It sounds like you are ready to find a house.. Now with WIW under our belt here we go....

jred- Prayer for your daughter and all those on the bus... Its wonderful she does gymnastics so well.

Serene- Glad your family reunion is over and you're back on track. And when my kids are around is the hardest for me. I want to cook and make things they love while staying OP. But with my DH and I alone it works out good..

Jack-K- Sounds like you're busier than a "Cranberry Merchant" Sorry about your aunt... And hope the scale is good to you today.

gymnut- Welcome to the board. I to had the SB book for over a year before jumping on the program. And at the time I started I told myself I would give it my best for a month and see how I liked it...I joined this board in March and they are the best... You'll find wonderful support and great people that understand just what you're going through.

Debilli- My DH wants chicken soup done with breasts so guess I'll make a kind of SB version of it.

heartmom-So glad you got some donations and that would be a good idea to make an account in Boogies name. Your menu sounds wonderful. And its so great you're back OP....

Bob- I hope you're still on the mend...

Mercy- Howdy to you...

The Quilter- Yea for you and your walk. You are right about taking your lunch! You might want to get some of the agave in case they stop selling it too. I read it has a 2 year shelf life...

Sef- I'll bet your pictures are wonderful.. Wow I thought all the hillbillies were here in Missouri... Yippe ki aaaa on your 3 lbs. Way to go lady!!!!

Time to go.. Have a great day and I'll probably be back later...

Good Morning!

Well I'm at 234.5...I keep fighting with 2 lbs. going up and down, up and down. Resistant suckers for some reason, but they will soon realize that I'm the boss, and they will be leaving! Haven't been doing great on my water, so I'm really going to make an effort with that, because I know when I'm good, it makes a world of difference.

Dan the Man has been away with military obligations, so there hasn't been regular meals on the table each night. I haven't been eating as much in the PM but it doesn't seem to have changed my weight.

I haven't been real good about taking notes while reading the posts, so forgive me. Summer around my place has been just as hectic as the rest of the year. My daughter volunteered to help with vacation bible school, my son is going to summer school, there's youth group, choir practice, and oh yeah.....malls trips, friend sleepovers, relatives visiting, etc. Am I the only one going through this chaos?

Quilter Country Home and Garden book club keeps sending me enticements to join them again. I'm feeling weak. Help! Do you have discount stores called Ross or TYJ Maxx out you way? That's where I found my latest batch of books. Although they are discount clothing stores, they have a small selection of discounted books, and I always claw through everything, and usually find some good ones.

CountryMom Loved the picture of you and your daughter. You both are beautiful. My daughter keeps saying things like "When I go to the prom......." She's already planning her hair, dress, etc. and she's going into 7th grade!

BOBGlad to hear you are feeling better. It's about time! I depend on you for movie rental tips, and you've been a little slow this summer. I can't imagine you going into the video store, and only coming out with one movie "Meet Joe Black". For some reason I wasn't interested in that one.

DebHow long is Eli going to be gone? What are you doing while the cats away? Did the kids have a great time? Did they get seasick? Sunburnt? Where's the photos??????????

Sef You are one busy lady. That sounds like a neat project to get involved with, your church really has an active group! Your dinner sounded yummy. I have some sausage in the fridge right now, and might have to give your recipe and whirl. I have a ton a fmaily pictures....I know what you mean about getting frames for them all, it takes a while. Plus I wanted to get similar looking frames, which is always a challenge if you don't have the $$ to buy them all at once. I have some great balck and white that need to be up and out!

Tried doing the chat thing, but I think I missed the boat....a little too late, and was the only one there. Got carried away talking to my man on line. At least we have some form of communication while he's away! Might get to come home for the weekend, can't wait, except now I have to clean up the house. I better see about this fly lady stuff and get her two cents!

It sure looks like most are having a great WIW... CONGRATS to the losers! For me, I am at 117 still.....as most of you know, I am 8 below my goal, so I do not plan/want to lose any thing else. I am still in shock to see the scale below 120.

Missed chat last night......:( I babysat for 4 boys last night so their parents could go out and have an anniversary dinner. Talk about having a house full of boys!!!

Kim....
I think I am gonna go w/ a local church who is driving down, but thank you so much anyway. I know it is gonna rain.......so who knows, I may go on Sunday....though I love M.W. Smith. I use agave in my hot tea...that is the only thing I used it in. I love it! I called there yesterday and they do still have it, but she was not sure how much. I used Splenda otherwise.....sometimes I do 1/2 and 1/2. I have a sitter for tonight....may go see a movie...any sugestions?

Deb.....
About the Agave, like I told Kim, I am not sure about the price, but will find out today. They do have it from the Cactus Farms and it was 2.95 last time I was there....but not sure. I could pick up some extra and ship it to ya....

Better go before the computer turns on me!

Good Wednesday Morning All:wave:

It's a very dreary day here in SOFLA. We've had rain every day for more than 2 weeks, but usually it doesn't hit til later in the afternoon. This morning I woke up to rain, thus, no walk, not unless I want to wade and walk.

With today being WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY I am NOT stepping on the scale. I know it's up and I have to say some is from stuff I've been eating. I know this, I feel it and I see it. It doesn't help that it's mid-cycle for me, it doesn't help that I ate really late last night (eggplant ELI made) and it doesn't help that I haven't made a trip to the potty. I also know it because my fanny pack I walk with is tight on me where it wasn't before. I've let too many things into my usual daily WOE and it's got to stop. I don't care if it's legal or not, I just can't have it! So, hopefully, next weeks WIW will show some losses and reward me for working towards getting myself back on the right track.

QUILTER, CONGRATS on your 3lb loss this week, it was well deserved, that's for sure! Boy, you are a brave soul, to have Paul read the scale for you. I'd drive ELI nuts with my best 2 out of 3, 4 out of 5, etc. Sometimes the needle fluctuates, sometimes it's solid-not sure why. Good for you on not getting anything from the vending machine, it's all crap food anyhow! I was telling Michael he should try to get a vending machine in the school filled with healthy snacks-they have such junk in the HS's down here, candy, ice cream, sodas-it's terrible. Sorry I missed the chat last night.

SEF, I bet you are smaller in other areas as well, you just don't realize it yet. When you go shopping for clothes next time I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. What the scales may not show, clothes and the way they fit just may. What do you actually do for Habitat. I can just picture you swinging a hammer-boy, if that's the case, they better watch out on one of your bad days!!!;) ELI does something similar down here, but they only do it once a year in an area of town. They don't build homes, just renovate and repair, and the past 2 years ELI and team (last year I went) we painted the area Elem. School. It's nice to help in the community.

GUMBO, CONGRATS! Another 2lbs down is awesome. It's amazing isn't it, to see how well you can eat, not starve yourself and have wonderful results on the scale:) Hope you like one of the eggplant dishes posted. My fav. is the one ELI makes that, it's available on the 2000 RECIPE BOARD and is called BAKED EGGPLANT, but here's the recipe to make it easier on you;) We have our own little way of doing it, but this is the recipe as it appears in the book:

BAKED EGGPLANT

1/4C pine nuts
1tlb butter (this CAN be omitted, and I do omit it)
1/2lb LEAN ground beef or ground lamb
1/4tsp pepper
1/2tsp cinnamon
1tsp salt
1/4tsp nutmeg
1/4tsp allspice
2 small onions, chopped
1 tomato, finely diced (we usually use 2 bigger tomatoes)
3 large eggplants
2 cups tomato sauce (2 small cans)
water

Set over at 350F. Get out a 9x12 baking dish.

Saute pine nuts with butter until golden brown (or if omitting butter, brown in a pan, stirring every so often to brown evenly). Add the next 7 ingredients (meat thru onions) and saute until onion are limp and meat is browned. Add the diced tomato and one can of tomato sauce & heat until hot throughout, then remove from heat and set aside.

Peel eggplants, cutting of the stems. Cut eggplant in half and then into approx. 3/4-1" pieces. Boil eggplant until soft (time depends on eggplant as some are harder than others). Remove from pot with slotted spoon and place 1/2 of eggplant in a single layer in baking dish (if you drain eggplant, it won't retain much of the moisture, which you do want).

Top eggplant with meat mixture and then follow with the remaining eggplant on top. Pour 1 can of tomato sauce over the eggplant. Place in oven and bake for approx. 40 minutes, or until top is lightly browned.

NOTE: you can adjust spices according to your tastes, adding a bit more if desired.

ENJOY!

TRISH, don't worry about the temp. gain, it's just that, temp. I'm up too and I'm not going to let it be something permanent, that's for sure! Hopefully there will be a loss for the two of us, or should I say, all of us, next week:)

JENN, did I ever give you an idea on how many calories you should shoot for? Just doesn't look like enough food on your menu for today, and where the heck is the fiber? You sure don't want to have a DOOKIE HOUSER problem (maybe a cause for the scale being up today?). I've had about 27 grams of fiber already this morning. From what you mentioned in your menu, I'd be surprised if you got in even 10-12 grams for the day. You may be sabotaging yourself with not having enough. Do you have any ideas to the calories? Why only 1 piece of fruit all day?

ROSALIE, thanks for being the resident chef and trying some of the new recipes out. Glad the quiche turned out well. Was it easy to make in your opinion? I'd love to make my cheesecake but I don't think at this time it's a good idea, I know what will happen! I picked up 3 mini springform pans at a garage sale a few weeks ago and plan on using them in the future when I do make the cheesecake. I was going to order a set of 4 that Philly has right now for $9.99 and 3 proofs from cream cheese-luckily, I found these 3 for $1.00:D

TONI, CONGRATS, WOW, 3lbs!!! Wonderful news. Heck girl, with the way they are going to clean you out, I'm sure you'll have a loss next week. Actually, people don't realize just how much fecal material can be lodged in their colons-I've read about it and it's unbelievable! I'm sure you didn't care to hear about that early this morning...Good luck tomorrow, let us know as soon as you can how things go.

NANCE, don't worry girlfriend, you just keep plugging along and you'll be in the 220's before you know it. ELI'S leaving July 5th and will be back 2 weeks later. I have absolutely NO plans at all since the kids start summer school on July 8th and I'll be making the daily shuttles back and forth, with the exception of a day or two in the afternoons when I want to do something and don't want to pick them up as they get out at 1:30pm and it would kill the whole day. I haven't seen any pics YET from their trip, but yes, they both came back sunburned and are now peeling like snakes. Lauren still has her BO DEREK braids in her hair and looks cute like that, but don't think they'll last much to much longer.

KIMMY, that's still a good price for agave, if they have it. Glad to hear you are able to stay under your goal weight-I'm afraid to say I know I'm outta my cushion-I can feel it, which sucks, but at the same time, it's amazing that a few pounds now can make me feel like such a cow.

Okay, I'm outta here for now. I've made my bed, sink is clean and I even DUSTED THE CEILING FAN OVER MY BED already-miracles do exist!

I'll check in later. Hope you all have a wonderful day today!

Good morning!:) See the smilie face..yep..had a good weigh in this morning. Lost 3 pounds...same three I lost before but hey..it's still good..LOL I cut back on the carbs this week. No bread. Something about the bread seems to add a pound or two. I also increased the intensity of my walk/run. My daughter says don't call it a run mom it's a jog. :) I'm at 3 miles a day. Less than last year but a stronger workout overall.

Thanks everyone for the nice words about me and my daughter.
Skinny little thing can eat anything she wants and only weights 110. I thank God she has never had a weight issue. I can't remember a time I didn't.

I had a blast chatting with you ladies last night. It was nice getting to know some of you I hadn't chatted with before. Sorry I couldn't make it earlier Deb...I had to walk with a friend.

Jenn.....I can only speak for me. If I have cherrios and bread all in the same day I won't lose weight. I didn't eat bread for the first 6 months OP. But everyone is different.

Nance....you are going to have so much fun when she does get prom age. It's fun and hard at the same time. You'll break past those stubborn 2 pounds.

WTG Toni!!!! You are doing marvelous....and next week when you get under 180 you should give yourself a big spoil.

Serene....if you liked shooting the bow before you might think about doing it again. It's wonderful for the arms. :D I didn't know that when I started. The little bit I shoot is begin to shape my shoulders and I think it's called the bicep...Plus it's just fun. I think if we can sneak in a little exercise where it doesn't feel like exercise it's a bonus. Do you know how long before the soon to be ex is gone? You will be amazed at how having that stress gone will help you...not that you aren't doing wonderful..because you are!

Tranquil.....hope you are feeling better today.

Gumbo...two pounds is wonderful!!!! Keep up the good work.

Quilter....wtg 3 pounds is super...shaky needle or not! Nice meetin' last night in chat.

Sef....those dolphins looked beautiful in the pictures. I can only imagine how beautiful they are in person and frames.

I'm sure I'm missing people...I'm sorry...the kids are all yipping at me this morning and I'm so not focused. :)

Be encouraged loss, or no loss it's the battle and the journey. It's about being healthy and happy. All the rest will fall into place.

Real quickly - good thing I'm a fast typist ;-)

Toni - race you to 130! Seriously, would be nice to try and keep up with you (as best I can), if you don't mind. I do better with a buddy to keep me motivated.

Deb - only have the apple because it's all I had in the house! :( We finished the strawberries last night, there's 1 peach for Dan, and that's it! I'm hitting the store tonight for canteloupe, grapes, raspberries, and whatever else I can find. I'm a fruit and veggie fan, and it hurts when I don't have them on hand. I'm also out of sgww bread, hence the wasa crackers, which I normally only use if I have to have a crunchy snack and am out of carrots. I don't usually have a problem in the *ahem* bathroom, but I do need to keep that fiber in mind! Thanks! I am hopeless at following calories, but I still have my Weight Watchers books, which convert them to "points". I'm making sure I hit my minimum points for the day at least, which should equate to adequate calories. Do you think that works?

KimmyTK - I like MW Smith, too. My favorite is Stephen Curtis Chapman - he's amazing!

Nance - keep on keepin' on! Even losing the same pounds over again is still NOT a gain! Every bit helps. :)

Rosalie - thanks for the info on the cooked carrots. I'd been avoiding them totally (hard to pick out of a mix!).

Mind went blank - that's what I get for not taking notes! Back to work!

Not a happy WIW for me. I'm up 3.5 from last week. I know a big part of that is that TOM showed up a week early yesterday. I got my walk in this morning, so that makes me feel better.
Sarah is much better today. Most of the spots have dried up. Did any of your kids get the chicken pox vaccine? It's required here for school now. It doesn't always prevent getting the pox, but you usually have a very mild case. That's what we have experienced.
WTG to all you losers out there. I hope I can join you next week. :) Got lots to do today. Try to check back in later.

Morning All!

From my quick skim of the posts, looks like there are a lot of LOSERS!:D For those who are gaining and losing the same couple of pounds--hang in there! I"m in that boat too! I do find that when I eat as much OP as possible, that I feel much better.

I was really bloated on Sunday. Can't figure out why, except maybe too many starchy carbs. I felt really awful and depressed. Well, today I am 1 pound down from last week to 168!:D WHOOHOO! Still not back at my low yet.

Another positive thing is that I am the same weight I was on June 1st (I told you I keep losing and gaining the same pounds) BUT I have lost a total of 2.5 inches from the same date!! An inch here, half and inch there, but 2.5 inches gone!!!! DH even told me I looked good. Also, while I was poking around at my fat, I could feel the muscle underneath!

So even tho the scale may not be moving too quickly, things ARE happening.

Better go. DS is wanting my attention. I also have to get things together--it's a long weekend coming up here and we're doing a little overnight getaway!

Take care all!

Happy WIW:)

Hope the scale is good to everyone today. Looks like alot of "losers". That is good. Everyone else, keep hanging in there. It will come off.

I was down 1 lb today. I don't know if I will make my mini goal of 180 by next WIW. Maybe if I'm lucky. I really haven't been eating much. I lose better when I eat more.

Better post before I get busya nd can't get back:

Gymnut56, Welcome to SB. This is a great board and a gread WOE. You will get alot of support here. I read your bio and you are about 3 years younger than me and about the same weight. We can have an interesting journey to gether.

Jenn, I just want to second Deb's comments on doing this weight loss thing while your young. I too waited way too long and I also have lots of sagging skin which will never tone up. I wish I could convey that to my DD's. That's a great idea to set mini goals and maybe reward yourself. Something little, a manicure, new top, summer purse, earrings, etc. I did it for every 10 lbs. It really boosted my morale. I quit when I had to start buying new clothes to wear. Good luck

Deb, Good advice to Jenn. I need a knife to get rid of this saggy skin.

Heartmom, Good going on staying OP. It gets easier doesn't it. You should post the account info for Boogie. Someone may want to make a donation. Prayers for him.

Bob, I'm gonna check out that squash recipie as soon as I have a minute to myself. Thanks. Can't wait to try it.

Quilter, Send me some rain. My grass is drying out quickly. It thunders like crazy every night, but we either get noothing or a little drizzle. I'm gonna have to water tonite for sure. WTG on passing up goodies in the vending machine. WOW 3 pounds! That's wonderful.

Sef, Sounds like Habitat keeps you busy. My BIL does Habitat in Georgetown. He is never home. Your dinner sounds great. I usually cook mine in sauerkraut.

Gumbo, Great, 2 more lbs. Keep up the good work. Makes you feel so good doesn't it. You should start seeing a big difference in your clothes. That will really make you feel good. You are right about the water. I hardly drink anything else.

Trish, that 2 lbs will come off by next week. Keep on keeping on.

Rosalie, Sorry you are bouncing around with the 2 pounds. That SP quiche sounds good. Going to look for the recipe.

Toni, Great 3 lbs. I only did 1 so you have gone ahead of me. My goal of 180 by next wiw looks bleak, but maybe I will be lucky like you and drop it. You will drop more by eating only liquids and a laxative. Good thoughts coming your way on your test Thursday.

Nance, Kick that 2 lbs in the butt and get them out of here. I can't wait for the day you reach 199, are we gonna have a party then! Keep drinking.

Kimmy, WTG on maintaining. That is the hardest part. You are one special lady. A whole house full of kids, wow.

Deb, If I remember correctly, you passed up the scale last week. 2 weeks away, not like you. What do you eat that you get so much fiber so early in the day? I'm sure I don't get enough.

Country, WTG on the 3 lbs. That's great. I din't get to post earlier, but your DD is so pretty, I can see where she gets it.

Music, That 3.5 lbs will be gone next week. Good luck. My DD got the vacine. She worked in a day care and I was afraid she would get them from all the kids. SO far it is working.

Zanne, Losing inches is a big accomplishment. Makes you feel so good and look good too. Have a nice weekend trip.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi and Congrats to all the losers!!!!

I think I may go buy a scale today.

Quilter
I bought the Soy Chips at trader joes. I like them, good crunch.
Way to stare that vending machine in the face and pass it up!!!

Deb
Have you tried the Soy Chips. I'm not sure if they are a carb or a protein or what.

Here is the nutrition facts...
Cal 100 Cal from fat 25
Total Fat 3g
Total Carb 12g
Dietary Fiber 3g
Sugars 2g
Protein 9g
12.5mg Isoflavones (guess thats good :) )

ingredients: soy flour, tapioca starch(BAD?), Soriva sunflwoer oil, sea salt. (Wheat Free)

How would you classify these??

OK what is the story on fruit?? Do you all wait two hours after eating to have fruit?? This waiting is causing me not to eat much fruit.

Deb, Jenn and all other flylady members.....Don't you just love the shiny sink??????

Hi Gymnut....welcome! :)

heartmom
Way to go on the good eating day!!! Hope the little guys infection clears up soon.

Yesterday(morning) I weighed and the metal monster said 237! I almost cried. I knew it was water weight, but still that is so depressing. Today I am happy to report that I weighed in at 233!(doing the snoopy dance). I don't think I have ever got rid of fluid that fast. It usually takes a good 3 days or more. I am still up a pound from last week where I briefly touched 232. But I am not complaining. So far I've had an orange and nsa yogurt. Not going to give up dairy- it has too many benefits. I had leftovers from supper so I made me a hearty veggie plate for my lunch today. For supper, I have a roast in the crockpot and plan on having some type of greens, crowder peas, and maybe(?) a sweet potato. Still drinking the water. Regarding Boogie- I don't think I can set up an account because he and I have an account already, and SSI(his insurance) won't allow 2 accounts. I have received $300 so far. I honestly didn't expect anyone to donate. I have it hidden in my underwear drawer(lol) until "it's time". Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Oh- and his infection is gone- what really sucked was that I got a yeast infection at the same time!

I was very happy this morning that the scale only showed a 1/2 lb gain! Whew.....I was thinking it would be worse after my weekend of eating sweets at my reunion.

Debbie, I hate to admit that I probably did consume an extra 5,000 calories over the weekend. It wasn't how much I ate, rather, what I ate. Once I get started on sweets, I crave more and then it gets out of control easily. I have been totally back OP
and feel lucky that the scale didn't tell on me worse than it did. No
more straying for me. As for mine and Tranquils visit, it wouldn't be a problem to come without the kids. It is much easier for me to go off now that my Mom lives with us. We love going to Starbucks
and whatever else we can get in to. I think anything we do would be fun tagging along with you. Sounds like we need to pack our own food in a cooler though  Just go to the doctor and get it over with! Get those hormones checked. I go to a female Doc and feel much more comfortable than going to a male.

gymnut56, welcome to the group. I am still a newbie myself and have found such great support and encouragement here!

BOB, thanks for the offer of the dungeon escape routes. I didn't have to stay there long and am back on the wagon.

Quilter, glad you can relate to bad eating habits around family. Thank goodness for the support I get from my buddy Tranquil and on this board, or I would have none at all. Good job on your weight loss this week! Wow, 3 lbs is awesome. I bought a scale recently and decided to get a digital one. You might want to try one of those. I enjoyed chatting with you last night, along with
COUNTRY, MERCY, TRANQUIL and BKM!

Gumbo, congratulations on your weight loss too. Enjoy your games with your family, especially while your kids still want to play. My teenage daughter is so busy with friends that she doesn't have much time for parents these days. We will try more chatting next week.

Trish, your weight gain sounds like fluid retention. I'm sure you will show a difference when you weigh next week.

I am sorry for all of you that I've missed posting to. I have to get out the door and down to Ormond Beach. I am meeting some relatives from the reunion that are staying at a resort there. They invited me down and we are going out on a gambling cruise ship tonight. It should be fun and maybe I can keep my eye out for a sugardaddy! :nono: I will definitley stay on program with my eating!

I dont' think Tranquil has posted yet, however, she has lost weight this week. Way to go Girlfriend!

Catch ya'll tomorrow when I get back.

Hello All SBers!

It is a grand day here, busy being late for work – got in after 12:00 :o and then leaving a sick child with gramma – but weigh in Wednesday has been a good one for me, I am 246 lbs! That is a 4 pound loss!!! Hard work, staying OP and being active pays off!

Bob- I took my Allegra and got a lot of sleep, and today I am feeling 80% better! I will continue to take my Allegra… it really helps me a lot with my allergies and sinus problems.

Quilter – It was nice chatting with you last night!!! Congrats to you on your loss!!!!!!

Sef – Your sausage dinner sounded absolutely delicious – I love Italian sausage! I found a frozen kind at the Health Food store and it is pretty low in fat, and made with chicken – but it has sundried tomatoes and garlic stuffed in them – they are very expensive, so I don’t eat them often, but when I do…yummy!!!!

Gumbo – Congrats on your loss!!! And sorry I was unable to stay on the chat when you were! Next time :)

Trish – Well next week will be a better week!!! You go Girl and stay OP!!!

Rosalie – Wow sounds like a yummy quiche!

Jenn – Looks like more starchy carbs than I eat… of course, I am still a newbie…. But I have had a better loss substituting the carbs (even though they are called Legal) with fruit and veggies.

Toni – Way to Go!!!! You poor thing with that test – ughhhh, I feel for you! Well hope it has a healthy result though!

Nance – Sorry we missed you on the chat! But understandable that Dan the Man was more important ;)

Kim – You must be on Cloud 9 being so far below your goal!!! Good JOB!!!!

Deb – Eggplant sounds yummy. About visiting, DS will be up with grandparents in the end of July, so I don’t have to worry about him…. Just let us know when a good time is, and I will see if I can arrange it.. I have to find a sitter for my dog

Country – It was great to meet up with you on the chat last night. Way to Go on your loss!!! Keep up the good work! I am feeling much better, thanks.

Music – My child had the chicken pox when he was about 4 or 5 years old – what a mess. Hope they were not too bad for your little one! No fun when TOM comes around with the scale – wishing you a better WIW next time

Zanne – Congrats on your loss!

Jack-K – Way to go on your loss!!!

Heart – Things will get better – good for you losing that water! Keep on losing!

Serene – Glad to hear the damage was only ½ a pound!! Stay OP on your little fun excursion today!!!!!

Just want to catch up on posts before I leave

Chris, I don't wait on the fruit. It's only if you have digetion problems.

Heartmom. Glad you got rid of that water wt. That was fast. You are back on the right track. Congrats on getting $300 for Boogie, hope you get more. Hope those yeast infections clear up. Yukky.

Serene, Glad you didn't gain too much from your reunion. Yard Saling with Deb will definately teach you how to bargain shop. She is amazing on what she can find. Glad you are back OP. If you find a sugardaddy tonite, see if he has a friend. Just kidding.

Tranquil, Oh My Gosh. 4 pounds, that's wonderful. Great for you. It does pay to stay OP and exercise. Everyone take head.

Have a great evening everyone.

Just a quickie for anyone who may try the sp quiche. It was easy to make, just took a little time to prepare and fry the veggies. It was quite a large amount though. I used a 9 1/2 inch deep pyrex pie plate and it was full to the brim. I took out a little and put it an a small foil pie dish as I was afraid it would overflow while cooking. I think if you were using a 7 or 8 inch dish you could probably make two.

Somebody asked about fruit. I don't wait, I just eat it when I feel like it. I've never had a problem with it.

Looks like there were lots of losers this week. Congrats to you all. The rest of us will just have to hang in there.

Gotta run. Off to badminton this evening.

Marie.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Felt so much better that I've put my contacts in my eyeballs! Been over a month since my eyes felt good...but I swear I think I've got my right one on inside out

Serene....you don't seem to understand.....SHE doesn't CARE if you're on the wagon or not....and far be it from her to care if you're staying five minutes or five days.... SHE'S GOT SHACKLES AND SHE'S NOT AFRAID TO USE THEM!!!!

TRANQUIL...so glad you're bouncing back...I'm taking ZYRTEC and don't think it's helping...might have to give yours a whirl!

NANCY...Haven't rented JOE BLACK yet...last thing I had was MONSTER'S BALL and BLACK HAWK DOWN...got to get down there this weekend though...I'll be sure to let you know..

BUSDEB.....{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} }}

JACKIE...all my squash is gone...got to get to the grocery for more produce..Hope your AUNT is feeling better

KIM....how does MADDIE feel about that rain?

Hi all,

Just a quick post to report I am down 2 more pounds for a grand total of 12 pounds since I started SB a little over 3 weeks ago!!!
Yipee!!!

Congratulations to all the losers this week. I think this WOE is great. I feel like I have found something I can stick with for the rest of my life.

I really enjoyed chat last night. It was good to get to know a few of you better.

Have a great evening everybody. This truly a great group of people.

Evening Everyone:wave:

Just finished part of my dinner, going to make a salad in a little bit and that will be it for the evening probably, though I may add in a piece of fruit.

Didn't do a darn thing worth talking about today-the weather was just lousey all day long. Hoping for a better day tomorrow, or at least in the morning so I can get in my exercise.

There are some fabulous weight losses this week. You should all be proud of yourselves! I'm proud of you all, and jealous at the same time. I'm hoping to be back in my cushion next week as I'm sure I'm not in there anymore. Hoping I'm at least below my goal weight-I'm too afraid to look:eek:

COUNTRY, glad to hear you had a good weigh in today, CONGRATS! Many people think bread can be foregoed (is that a real word?) Unless it's a really heavy bread filled with lots of grains and fiber it just seems to not fill one up and can be a big waste of carbs. I love having Sourdough, but with only one gram of fiber and 22 grams of carbs, I'd rather have something better, like raspberries that have the same calories and carbs, but 14 grams of fiber.

JENN, just how many points are you doing? Maybe it's just not enough points. Maybe the minimum is too little for you. I would tell you to do a journal for at least 1 day-it won't kill you, I promise, otherwise I'd of been dead a lonnggg time ago!!;) Here's an idea of what I've had today, thus far:

6.1oz raspberries
1oz Fiber One
1 1/3c extra calcium FF milk
1tsp carob powder
3oz chicken breast
1oz onion/celery, chopped
.4oz lf mayo
1 sl sgsfww bread
1 single serve sf Jello
6.7 raspberries
7oz Asian pear
26oz eggplant dish (Eli made, sounds like a lot but there's very little lamb in this entire dish, about 4-5 ounces, mostley veggies)

In a bit I'll have a salad (with spinach included) with some chicken in it possibly, with a 1/2 ounces of parm cheese, a little tomato and a tbl of dressing. Possible a small piece of fruit later on and that will be it. Lots of food. I can tell you that without figuring in the possible fruit and without the eggplant dish, but including the salad, that would give me 1005 calories, 27 grams of fat, 131 carbs, 80.5 protein, 50 grams of fiber (yeah) and 880 calcium (need a bit more there).

MUSIC, glad to hear Sarah is doing better and didn't get a bad case of the pox. I guess those vaccines help. Good to hear you got in your walk-wish I could of gotten one in as well today.

ZANNE, glad to see you are going down on the scale, you'll be back to your low soon enough. I hope I can say the same soon!

JACKK, CONGRATS on another pound down the drain. I'm rooting for you for your mini goal for next week;) Yes, I haven't been keen on getting on the scale, I know I'm up, why get myself even more pissed off at myself than I am already. I'll weigh in next WIW, do or die. I need to see what's going on with myself. I've let too many things come into this WOE that I hadn't before and I think that's the problem. Anyhow, look at my list of what I ate today and that will answer your question about the fiber. Between the raspberries and the Fiber One, that's where I got 26 grams, but total so far today, 50!!!!

CHRIS, not sure if I've tried those chips, who makes them? I'd definitely classify them as a starchy carb though. Tapioca starch, probably not the best thing to have, actual tapioca is high GI, and I would think the starch is just as bad?

HEART, glad to see you doing the happy dance today! Congrats! I'm sure this makes you feel a whole lot better!!!

SERENE, I can understand about what you ate and not how much you ate. It can be amazing to see when we eat off plan how it will effect us on the scale. Luckily, it didn't do the damage that you thought it would of done. No, no:nono: if ELI is here, no need to pack the food, it's just if he wasn't. With him around, you'll eat like Queens! Of course, OLE OLE is a MUST along with some other places, like SHORTY'S. Maybe we could get BOB to come in too, she's fairly close, well, compared to you and TRANQUIL, and she's due for a visit!

TRANQUIL, WOW, 4lb loss-my goodness, that's so wonderful! I think you're our biggest loser this week, thus far at least! CONGRATS! Will let you and SERENE know as soon as I can a good weekend to come, just waiting to see if ELI'S store is going to open next week and how he's going to schedule this party for when he returns. As soon as I know this info I can give you a date to come in:)

ROSALIE, thanks for the info on the quiche-2 would be great, one for now, one for later:) Hope you have a good game tonight!

BOB, do you have to give away ALL my secrets? Geez, no one will want to come visit me!!! Tell Ann & DD to think of me if they go to Italiani's-I'm sure to be there come January!!!

MERCY, you go girl! CONGRATS! 12lbs will soon be 15 and then 20 and you'll be hitting those big milestones. That's wonderful news, we all rejoice when there's losses on the board:) Sorry I missed the chance to chat with you and the rest of the gals last night.

Time for me to skiddadle. Hope you all have a good evening. Will check in tomorrow morning. Please don't forget that tomorrow is RECIPE THURSDAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please try to post them tomorrow.

Hello everyone! Well, it’s Wednesday night and I am plum tuckered out. This heat and humidity can really get to you. I must repeat myself by saying I don’t know how you southern belles do it. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow. I’m hoping that helps and doesn’t steam things up.

GUMBO---HEY, HEY, HEY Congrats of the two additional pounds. I’ll bet you are flying high as a kite. Keep up the good work. Sorry I had to leave the chat early last night. I would have enjoyed talking with you, but when 10 p.m. rolls around I have to head for the bed. Thanks for reminding me to check the board for recipes. I have to try BOB’s Israeli salad. We love salad and it’s always fun to find a new one. I like your advice about going to buy another scale. Which brand did you end up buying at Sears? I would really like to get a new one. I’d love one like they have at the doctor’s office, but they are so expensive.

TRISH---You have such a great attitude for when the scale doesn’t treat us nicely. You are right. That TOM bloatation can really mess things up.

ROSALIE---Hey, congrats for actually being able to successfully get half the cheesecake into the freezer. I fear that if I ever do make that, I’ll eat it all at one sitting. You made me LOL with your theory of something being “loose” that caused the shakey needle. But I will take your advice to heart and remember that feature on the digital ones. Thanks bunches!!!

TONI---WTG, WTG, WTG WITH THE THREE POUND LOSS!!!!!!!! That’s fantastic! I’m doing the happy dance for you. Be sure and weigh yourself in the morning when you are all emptied out. I’ll be thinking about you tonight and tomorrow. Hope it goes well and that you have an early appointment. It would really stink to have to wait until afternoon with that empty stomach. Let us know how you are doing tomorrow night if you feel up to it. Do you have to get knocked out for this procedure. I think I’d rather be under for it. Will you have cheese on that bear tomorrow afternoon. Good to know that the agave lasts a long time.

NANCE---Keep fighting those two pesky pounds. Sooner or later, they will get the hint and go elsewhere. Hang in there! We have TJMaxx here. I really like that store, but they don’ty have a large enough section with “big girl sizes.” Have you seen the magazine called Fine Gardening? It’s wonderful!!! I subscribed to it years ago and devoured every single issue.

KIMMY---It’s just so terrific that you have an 8-pound cushion for your goal. What a great feeling for you!!! I hope you all don’t get drenched tomorrow night, but the weather report doesn’t look very favorable to you. I saw Michael W. Smith back in the early, early 80’s in Canton Ohio. He opened up for Amy Grant and nobody had heard of him. (I used to work in a Christian book store and we were on top of all the cont C music.) He gave such a great show. He’s also so cute! I am not a good one to advise on movies. We NEVER go to the cinema. Actually our next door neighbor gave us passes for Men in Black II for this coming Monday night. I don’t even know what’s out there. That’s how out of it I am. Hope you find a good one!

DEB---You have had a bad week, and now you will get a grip on your eating and get back to what you know is the right way to eat. You were wise to avoid the scale today. No need doing any harm! It may take a couple of weeks to get back to here you want to be. I had another mini victory today. I went out with three of the women from work to run work errands. While out they decided to stop by the best bagel place in town. No kidding, the primo bagel maker in the whole city. I used to eat my wait in those sunflower bagels. But I just walked in with them and looked around while they got their stuff. They asked if I was getting anything and I told them I had packed and it was back at work. Let me tell you, I felt so great when we left there. Those bagels were really a temptation, but I didn’t even consider for one second to get one. Yeehaw!!!! Doing the right thing really helps in more than one way.

CM4H---WAY TO GO ON YOUR THREE POUND LOSS. Great job!!! I agree with you that bread really weighs us down in more ways than one. Your jogging is so impressive. I can’t jog for more than two minutes at a time. Tell me what your strategy was for getting to this level. I’m all ears. Enjoyed chatting with you last night!

MUSIC---Sorry to hear about your gain. Hang in there, you’ll shed those pounds before you know it. Glad to hear that Sarah is perking up.

JACK-K---Congrats on the pound loss. They all add up, don’t they? I think we are getting the thunderboomers with empty clouds tonight too. I have to go out and check my containers and see if they are dry. I wish it would poor all night after midnight.

CHRIS---We don’t have Trader Joe’s but if you tell me the brand of soy chips, they might have them at our Jungle Jims which also has the agave. I don’t wait on the fruit. It doesn’t seem to bother me. I also take a food enzyme that helps with gassiness.

SERENE---Glad to hear that you are totally back on program. You will start to feel better by the end of the week. I really can hardly believe how much better I feel without the sugar in my system. I have to keep that thought in my head when I am tempted by something illegal to SB. I also enjoyed the chat last night. I think we all did really well keeping up with the conversations.

TRANQ---Four pounds is a wonderful loss. Way to go!!!!! Perhaps you lost some weight because of all the sinus problems. I know with some of my fights with sinus infections, I’ve felt like I blew a whole pound of yuck out my nose. Ooops, too graphic??? Sorry!

BOB---Glad (and relieved) to know you are really and truly on the mend. I know exactly what you are talking about trying to live without the contacts. When I had my eye infection, I didn’t wear contacts or mascara for about two weeks. These blonde eye lashes don’t stand out very much and need a little boost. Maddie doesn’t really mind the rain, but she absolutely hates thunderstorms. I swear she has a barometer inside her, because she can forecast a storm way before it gets here. How about Skeeter? How does he do with them? How’s his skin problems doing? BTW, are you the only survivor of the dungeon????

MERCY---Congrats on the loss. WTG!!! Just imagine your loss in sticks of butter. You have now lost 48 sticks of butter. Awesome.

Has anybody tried that Hellmans Just 2 Good Mayo? It’s just two grams of fat per serving. And we can’t see a bit of difference between it and the regular hard-core stuff. We tried a small jar, just in case it tasted like crap. Now we’ve moved into a big jar. I don’t really eat a lot of mayo, but I like using it in egg salad. Lately I’ve been taking tuna for lunch, and eating it plain. I like it so much better that way . . . without the mayo. Sometimes I think we put too much dressings on our food and we miss out on the tastes of the food.

Well, that’s it for me! I’m so happy that CNN has hired Connie Chung. We’ve been watching her the past couple of nights and she does such a great job. I hope she is successful and that they don’t cancel her. Gotta run.

I just finished eating a cup of spinach fettucine and a delicious salad (I found a dressing at Fresh Market that is out of this world, Chipotle Ranch - very spicy).... I worked out at the gym for about 1 1/2 hours - it felt so good! What a stress reliever! Came home to find my babysitter, the exhusband who took over when my Gram had to go home, vacuuming up tons of glass in DS's bedroom - they were playing and broke the glass door to the entertainment center in there - what a mess! I was calm - I just left the room and went back downstairs to eat dinner and not worry....

My eating today was:

1 slice of my quiche for breakfast
1 slice of my quiche for lunch
1 cup of strawberries
1 cup of spinach fettucine with sauce and chicken sausage
1 small bowl of salad
oh, and 1 triscuit because someone was eating them in the office and I begged them to give me just one and only one - hehehe

BOB - I have been very successful with Allegra for the sinuses, I need to learn to take it every day... I have no side effects from it, and it keeps me pretty healthy if I remember to use it... problem is I get lazy and don't take it then suffer the consequences. I will never learn....

Deb - I think I had a good weight loss because it was catching up from the two weeks that I have stayed the same! I guess it all decided to just fall off - and I probably won't see another loss for a couple of weeks - oh well.... People are telling me they can see that I am thinner, but the scale was not budging! So, finally!!! Yeah!!!!

Quilter - You got it, it must have been all that junk in my head

Well I am going to go upstairs and figure out tomorrow's clothes and relax! Hopefully Serene found herself a Sugar Daddy on the gambling cruise tonight and she can share his wealth - hahaha - just kidding, NOT!!! hahahaha

Happy Thursday (wish it were Friday)

I know, I am wishing my life away. It's a little slower here today (thank goodness). But who know, all he** could break lose at any moment.

Gosh is was humid on my walk this dark-o-thirty. Came back ringing wet. My DH says it's good to sweat. :D

I'm starving today for some reason. Trying to increase my intake a little. Got to lose those 3 pounds by next WIW. I sneaked a peak today but the scale had not moved.

Bob, Glad you are feeling better. Ouch, fix that contact.

Mercy, You are doing great. Keep up the good work. Great losses.

Deb, I'm not much on raspberries, blueberries, blackberries. I'm really not much of a fruit person. I guess we never ate alot of it growing up and then I would just eat chips and other junk. Now i make myself eat at least 2 servings a day. But my likes are minimal. I'm sure next week the scale will be good to you. You are too hard on yourself. Hope if quits raining there so you can start exercising again.

Toni, Hope everything goes well today.

Quilter, Nice going on passing up the bagels. It does make you feel better in more ways than one. It really helps build your confidence. Keep up the good work.

Tranquil, You are looking very "HOT" girlfriend. Nice going on handling the ex and the glass situation.

Quilter, what a nice message to start our day. Thanks.

Music, WOW, 1.5 lbs. Great going. Keep up the good work.

Have a great day everyone. Hopefully, I'll check back later.

As I stuff my face with a BBQ Turkey Salad from Woody's I thought I would drop in! Tonight Serene is going walking with my Gram and I - hahaha - see if she complains about my trying to kill her tonight

I am also going to shop at the used sports supply store for dumbbells and the crunch thing that supports your neck...

Jack-K - thanks for the encouragement...the real estate world here is booming - we are totally booked up for closings this week - end of the month thing! AHHHHH!!!!!

Music -that is wonderful about your loss!!!!

Quilter - Thanks- my son is a really good photographer at age 11 - he tells me to love the camera, or pout, or how to place my head, etc.- so that was the result of his talent with the camera - but honestly I am just so proud of seeing my jawline again!!!

Well I have to get back to the grind and get some docs pumped out of this machine so I can leave here without stress...

Whew--run-off is over! My candidate kicked b**t and so I've gotten all my candidate out of the primaries. We get a brief break and start working for November after the 4th.

I'm now in the mode where all I want to do is sleep (I get like this for about a week after every election). I've still got lots of work to do--but not with the pressure and the time deadlines of an impending election.

For those of you who are now on the board, I'm Susan and it has been a while since I posted. It has also, truth be known, been a while since I've had a completly OP day. I am a campaign consultant in Alabama--and we've just finished our primaries and run-offs and eating well has not been my top priority for the last month or so.

I see many new names on the board--so welcome! But it is so great to read about all my beloved SB friends. I haven't forgotten about you and have missed you and this board terribly!

I can't reply to everyone in the first post back, but I'm grateful to "see" you all.

I do want to let Heartmom know that Boogie is in my prayers. Where are you and where do you have to get him to? We have an organization in Alabama called Kid1 Transport that makes sure children with chronic illnesses are able to have transportation to and from their medical treatments. I don't remember where you are, but I would be happy to check with Kid1 to see if they know of a similar program in your area.

BOB--You're not well yet???????? Get it in gear girl! I thought your Rocky toppers were stonger than that! How many days till football season?

Deb--good grief--who do you have in the dungeon now? I need a trip to the dungeon badly.

Miss Belle says hi to all!

Susan- We live in Meridian,MS and travel to Philadelphia,PA for the surgeries. I have found organizations that will fly us free but they have a waiting period. I won't know anything until they give us the surgery date. It could be the next day after the cath which would mean that we wouldn't qualify for it. Then again, it could me a few weeks, which is what I am hoping for.

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!!!

Just wanted to drop in from work to let everyone know that I won't be able to do the SB trip this year. Financial woes have just reared their ugle heels at me...I really want to go to WDW in January, and in order to do that, I will have to keep my big old arse at home and save...I'm still going to my cousins, but that won't cost me any money...it will just be the girls all week and we're going to just lay back and watch movies and read...
I've just dropped Deb a note to let her know and didn't want to leave anyone out...

SUSAN...glad you're back home...do I need to swing by with the wagon? Scratch Ms Belle's ears for me will ya?
Can't explain it about not being able to shake this crud...I know it wasn't SWAMP FEVER cause we didn't have ANY PROBLEM
getting out of there...

I'm off to get a little more work done this afternoon...

Good Afternoon Everyone:wave:

Thought I'd of gotten on here long ago, early this morning but I was definitely wrong. I didn't sleep well at all last night, kept making potty trips almost every hour and this is all happening even though I barely drank but 2 glasses of water yesterday (a fact that I'm not quite proud of, but the truth). I woke up this morning tired and I just couldn't get my butt out to walk no matter how much I tried to will up the muster to go. About 9:30am I had some raspberries and then felt nauseaus and even more tired, so I crawled back into my nicely made bed (flylady would NOT be happy there) and fell asleep for about an hour and a half. Actually crawled out of bed after Noon and still, I feel not only tired, but a bit nauseaus still. Still making potty calls and still haven't had a drop to drink. My Mom called and said the same thing you've all been saying to me "Deb, so when are you going to the Dr?" She should know better to ask me that, she's the one I get the procrastination from!!! I'm just taking it VERY easy today, will veg out on the couch and hopefully find some sort of spunk somewhere in the day to get me motivated to do something or other.

My Mother came over to take Lauren home with her to sleep at her house. I decided to make a new quiche, she said I couldn't screw it up-she put a kunahora (curse) on me! I go to put it in the oven and hit the side of the pan on the top of the oven as I was putting it in and spilled a nice bit of it in the bottom of the oven and on the racks. Had to stop, clean it up and try to salvage what I could to bake-geeesh!

QUILTER, you are doing great, esp. when occasions arise where it could make you think twice about making the correct decision. What's the name of the bagel place you talked about? When we went to Cin. years ago we went to this bagel place that had so many varieties and there was a sunflower bagel that I fell in love with-wonder if it's the same place, whatever the place was, it was delicious!

TRANQUIL, so what was the story behind the broken glass? Is EX going to pay for the replacement of it? At least no one got hurt, that's the most important thing. Love the picture but wish it was bigger:) We'll just have to take some when you come down next month!!

JACKK, I wasn't a big fruit lover either when I was younger, give me chocolate, ice cream, etc and that to me was the best. Now I am thrilled to have such a great selection of fruits to eat and love trying new fruits-to me, that's the best! It quit raining, but I didn't get in my walk-hopefully tomorrow I won't have the rain or the tired feeling I have today and can get it in.

MUSIC, congrats on the scale today-seems it's been moving down a lot recently.

TONI, what's the latest????

FILLISE, glad to have you back. Get that sleep caught up on and get back on the board. Need a DD visit, you're more than welcome to come-I have the shackles all ready and prepared for you:s:

BOB, you could always come down here for a visit too-it won't cost you but the gas money! Hey, I think it's time to stop the bargain shopping at the malls, at least until Xmas time!

Okay, I'm outta here for now. Michael is requesting the computer anyhow. I'll check in later and try to post a recipe or two as well.

Afternoon y'all. Well, my plans were changed after I posted this a.m. Dennis got a call to take a load to Dallas so I said GO rather loudly. Much better for him to make some $$$$ today than for me to go to the workshop. Took the kids to McDonalds with the indoor playground ( along with neighbor's GS Sarah's age) Nothing to eat, thank you. Then went by the church to get ready for our Bible club we're having tomorrow. I'm in charge of music. Go figure. :) Anyway, been OP today, except for that banana I just ate. Had to have some fruit and that was all we had. Maybe that wasn't too bad.

DEB: When are you getting yourself to the dr.! I was in the potty all night too but had tons to drink yesterday.

FILLISE: Glad to see you back.:) Jump on the wagon. We've kept all the seats warm.

Hi all,

Thanks so much for all the encouragement That I have received this short time I've been here.

I just inspired to see how this WOE has worked for you all and I know it will work as well for me.

Today I had an OP day. Yesterday I ate too many peanuts, so when I got up this morning I threw the rest out. I can't control myself with them so at this point it is better not to have them.

Is Hummus legal on SB? I hope someone knows the answer. I just finished reading Eat Yourself Slim. It gave me more understanding of this WOE.

Well I'm off to prepare dinner. Have a great evening everyone.

QUICKIE...

JACKK, despite my terrible approach at trying to cook, what I was able to salvage actually came out pretty good, even Michael liked it and between the two of us, we polished off the quiche! But you are correct, cooking is definitely NOT my forte, nor is cleaning either. Hmmm, just what IS my purpose in this life:?:

MERCY, oh my goodness, if hummus WASN'T okay on this WOE I'd of stopped long ago! I'm the Queen of Hummus! Just ask the gals! I have a recipe on the board if you need. Go ahead and enjoy it!!!:D I know the feeling with the peanuts, I think we all have at least one thing or another we know we have no control over, I know I do.

Okay, back to the web searching!

Hello!

I am getting on here late as we had book club tonight. I ate at a yummy irish pub restaurant. I had a very fattening sandwich that was totally SB legal. It was a chicken spinach sandwich: chicken breast with sourdough toast with melted swiss cheese and (are you ready for this????) spinach and artichoke dip on the sandwich. Too yummy! I told the waitress NOT to bring me potatoes and substitute some steamed broc and caul. So it was a high fat sandwich. I probably should have gone with the cob salad.

We had some really bad storms tonight after work. We were already at the book club meeting which is on the KY side of the river and has a unblocked view of downtown Cinti. We were watching all the cars and buses going into the stadium for th eBilly Graham ceremony. I worried about KIMMYTK because she said she was going there tonight. Hope they are all right. It did stop raining, but there were some TERRIBLE lightning flashes while people were going to it. Hopefully, all were okay.

TRANQ---Ouch . . . broken glass in the carpet. No bare feet for a while, right? Hope you and Gram were kind to our TRANQ. Remember, she hasn’t been well this week.

JACK-K---You cracked me up with your “dark o’clock”. You be careful out there. Do you have a strip of reflectors for your hiney?????

FILLISE---Welcome back! Girl, you need some Susan time!!! Here’s my theory on you getting on the scale. First, just start back on the program 100%. After you are back and in the swing and on the right path, then get on the scales. You have enough to do with getting back into the WOE thing. Don’t even worry about the scales for at least a week. That’s just my opinion. Miss Maddie says “hey” to Belle.

DEB---Sorry (and worried) to hear that you are still not back to 100%. Call the doctor. There’s no reason to avoid going. And there’ s no reason to suffer with feeling ick when it could easily be solved. You might have a thyroid problem which could easily be fixed with medication. I remember I was so tired that I often felt nauseated from exhaustion. Just GO!!!!! And stop talking about going!!!!! (That’s said with love, you know!) Thanks for the praises. Feels good to make the right decisions. Although tonight I think I did a dumb thing. We had our book club at Barnes & Noble and there’s a Starbucks there. Well, I wanted something and thought that if I order the iced cafe mocha and ask for cocoa thinking it was cocoa powder. Not until I was driving home in the car did I consider that that “cocoa” was probably the kind that people use in hot chocolate. Now I feel really stupid and mad that I didn’t ask to see the can that the cocoa was coming from. You could confirm my fears with Eli if you want. So i guess I cheated tonight, but it was truly unintentional. I thought I had made the right choice, but I think I didn’t. BTW, it’s called Marx Bagels. There are quite a few stores across town and they are only local. The owner is wild and crazy. He picks on the customers and can be quite a character. I’ll bet that’s where you went. They’ve been around forever.

MUSIC---Way to go passing up those McD’s fries. You were willpower personified!!!! I’m proud of you!

BOB---You must be sick again and hallucinating!!!! Did I actually hear you say you WANTED to go to the dungeon?????? I think the fever is back, girlfriend! Sorry about the back. You are really doing a number on yourself.

Okay, friends! Have a great Friday. I am going to start the pre-painting preparations on the kitchen. Oh boy., that is definitely NOT the fun part.

Talk to you later.

HiedieHo All!!!

QUILT: I rise and get a cuppa then I can shine. Need that coffee to get my heart pumping!! A shakey needle! Many times! My scale is digital and it bounces back and forth between bright red numbers. I smile at the low ones and frown at the high. Of course now it's not working right, although it was 6# down from the last time I used it, but I don't trust it. So don't know what I have really lost, but everything is getting looser again so I know I am on a downward spiral again! 3# is wonderful!

GUMBO: Grrrreat! 2#!

Well, I started this last night and just couldn't finish! Today has been a lousy day. But we need the rain so badly! So it is a good day then! "Arthur" is complaining about the weather I guess. I did go to NH and WD. "Arthur" wanted to take a nap, so I slept for 2 hours! Was too lazy to do much for supper so made Lemon/Agave Chicken breasts. The kids had some macaroni salad in fridge so they had that. I had bread. Just mix lemon and agave, to taste (I like it tartish) paint on the chicken, sprinkle with salt and pepper, bake approx. 45 min at 400'. Came out pretty good. Will try some more posts.

TRISH: Keep doing our thing and you will go down in pounds. The trick we all have to remember is to keep plugging along.

ROSALIE: Am making the spinach quiche for supper tomorrow night, we all like it. Pretty soon you will stop seesawing and start a downward trend again.

TONI: 3#! Terrific.

NANCE: You are the boss, you'll have those pounds going the way you want in no time! When I read the notes you young mothers post about all the running you do for your kids, I sit back and think "I remember when!" When I am foolish I think I miss it, then I really remember and say ":Been there, done that, don't need to repeat!" It is a task but enjoy it, it is gone too soon! You're right about the similar frames. I just hope they have the same ones each time I get the money together. I don't want to hang them yet as I want to be able to make a rrangement of some kind. Hate to keep adding on the wall and then think it doesn't look right when they are all up.

DEB: DOCTOR!!!!!!!!! DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You havr reached your goal and should be able to have a little treat. I think the thing is not to let it get out of hand. That would be my fear, going overboard on things.

I wish I was able to swing a hammer. I do know how as DH built an addition to our house as a DIY project that was as big as the original house, we also closed in the breezeway for a dining room, added a room we called the mudroom, and an attached workroom to the garage. But those days of that kind of work are gone forever. But there are other ways to help Habitat or some other group people may be interested. I serve on the Board of Directors as Recording Secretary. I write publicity articles for the newspaper and write their newsletter. And help out in other non-physical ways as they arise. I truly believe that a lot of things wouldn't get done if it wasn't for volunteers in the community. Okay I'll get off my soapbox. I bet Quilter could add a lot about the spirit of volunteers.

By the way, where do you buy pine nuts? I don't remember seeing them in the grocery store.

COUNTRY: WTG on loss!

JACKK: I'm on speaking terms with my sagging skin! The things I say to it can't be printed! I read somewhere that after losing a great amount of weight someone had the excess skin removed....13# of it! Amazing! I like sauerkraut too but rest of family doesn't. I like it any old way! Must be the German-Dutch in me!

HEART: See good things do happen! Crowder peas? Please explain!

TRANQUIL: The sausage was good even warmed up as a leftover and the squah held it's cripness. I believe the brand from Sam's is Premio or something like that. NSA an dis very good. I don't have the label s it comes in a big package and I break it into meal size packages for the freezer.

FILLISE: So good to see you back with us, we missed you!

Weel made myself sit here this long, but I have had it! If I missed someone I'm sorry, you know I really care about you all! Or at least I hope you know!

Take care, Shirley

Hooray it's finally Friday!. Tomorrow Jordan comes back from Virginia. We've been able to talk to him a couple of times and he sounds like he's had a great time! Can't wait to see him though.

I had the best evening last night. Just as I was about to leave work, my cell phone rings. It was a childhood friend that I had not seen or heard from in about 6 years. We were very best friends growing up. We had a falling out a few years ago and haven't really spoken since. Well, she was in town and ran into my husband at a restaurant at lunchtime. He gave her my cell number and she called. It was so great to see her! We went to dinner at our fav restaurant. I had shrimp creole, without the rice but with grilled zucchini. It was wonderful. I did have a few bites of dessert, definately not OP but worth it (sorry Deb, send me to the dungeon).

Deb, get to the doctor. You've been feeling crappy for too long and putting this off for way too long. For someone that eats right and exercises the way you do, you should not be feeling like you are. There's no point in feeling as miserable as you do.

I don't have time to post to everyone but everyone have a great day and a great week-end if I don't get back on this week-end.

Hello all. Not much to report. I think that coffee drink must have had sugar in it last night, because I am moving slowly this morning and not feeling up to par. Nothing major, just really sluggish. I just ate a grapefruit in hope it gives me a boost.

SEF---Did you read what ROSALIE wrote to me about her digital scale and how some start acting goofy when the battery starts going south. Perhaps that's what's wrong with yours. ORRRRR, perhaps you truly did lose 6 pounds!!! Wouldn't that be lovely????

BOB---I don't think there's a Marx Bagels downtown, but that doesn't mean there didn't used to be one. Many things have changed down there. They now have a mall like thing in the Carew Tower (hooked to the Omni Netherland). I'm sure there is Skyline and Gold Star Chili places down there. There are Skylines all over the place down there . . . literally two blocks from each other. That shows how popular it is around here. I wish you could come up for a visit. But I know little Jay is calling for his sweet auntie to come see him. But if you did want to come up, we could go to JJ's and grocery shop then eat at the Skyline and Marx. They do have a ww bagel, but I didn't want to risk it or have all those carbs. Their tuna salad is to die for!

FROG---Glad to see a post from you. Hope your roots turn out okay!!!

TRISH---That's great that you got to see your old friend. I started emailing an old friend from school. We went all 12 years together and were playmates and Brownies together. We write about once a week and now it's good to know what's going on in her life. Friends are so great. It's sad to see one leave.

Have a good day, all. Take care. Talk to you later.

Mornin' y'all. Hope you're all off to a great start today. Just got in my 2 miles. I didn't get to walk my usual route today. Dennis had to leave out about 2 o'clock this morning, so I could walk outside. I used my Walk Off the Pounds video that some of the teachers were using at school. I'll have to admit that I think it gives me a better workout than just walking. I'm sweatin' and the air conditioner is on. VBS today-all afternoon. We're expecting 75 kids. One of our deacons said he's let someone shave off his beard and mustache if we had at least 75 kids there. :o

TRISH: Neat that you got together with your old friend. I have a friend - old college roomate - that I've lost touch with. I'd love to see her again. Know you're ready to see Jordan.:)

DEB: Where are you???? Hope you're feeling better.

SEF: Hope "Aurther" isn't bothering you so much today.

QUILTER: That sandwich sounds too yummy.:T

FROG: HI:wave:

Time to shower and get ready for the kiddies. Breaking out the shaving cream.

HiedieHo All!!!

Nothing new since last night. Spinach and broccoli thawing for the quiche. Clothes in washer. Sink shining. Still aching but feel better at this point than I did yesterday. As the day wears on we'll see. I'm trying to pace myself, but we all know how good I am at that!

TRISH: It's wonderful you were able to renew your old friendship. It's like the old Girl Scout song, that says "Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold". True friendship with buff right up and as like the metals it doesn'r retain the tarnish.

QUILT: I replaced the battery thinking that might be the problem, still acts up! I just KNOW I'm thinner am beginning to be able to see it and definitely feel it in clothes!

Have sat here long enough, dusting is calling me.

Take care all, Shirley

 Hello all!

I've been lurking about the boards for the last few days, reading like crazy. You all seem like such nice folks!

My DH and I are just starting on this SugarBusters thing. He has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and the doctor wrote: Go get SugarBusters! on a prescription pad!

So, we're reading labels like crazy, trying to figure out what we can and can't eat. What we'll have to replace, and what we'll have to figure out something else for. You know the drill!:)

I do have a question about yogurt, though, that I haven't found the answer to anywhere (so far!). I know you must get tired of answering the same old questions again and again, so if you could point me off in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

What kind of yogurt is legal on SB?

Blessings,
Terry

Good Friday Morning:wave:

This is a quickie, have to meet up with my Mom and Lauren, so will get in a post later, promise!!! Just wanted to say hello!!!:D A quickie to our newest member...

TERRY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!
http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg
Glad you've decided to join us, boy, are those Texas Roses going to be happy! I think the Texas gals are out-numbering the Florida gals with you aboard:D Yes, as you have seen, we are definitely a fun and loving, not to mention, carrying bunch and you'll find in a short period of time that you will feel like you've been with us forever! As for yogurt, I don't buy anything already sweetened. I buy plain non-fat or low-fat yogurt without any stabilizers (like gelatin) and I make my own fruited yogurt with taking some pureed fruit and a little Stevia for sweetening. This is just my personal preference whereas others probably eat some of the sf yogurts out there, but once you have the natural ones, I don't think you could compare the two. PLUS, I use yogurt in many recipes as well, and it makes great yogurt cheese! Anyhow, I have to run, but don't hesitate to continue to ask questions, this is a learning process and even after over 2 years of being on this WOE, I'm still learning!! We'll be happy to try to answer any questions you may have. Once again, WELCOME!

Gotta run, I'm late!!!!!

Morning all! It is so nice to see all the "welcome backs" and "missed you" messages. It is great to be back!

Terry--Welcome! You do an awful lot of label reading at first and then you get a sense for what is OK and what isn't!

Frog--I'm working on getting back to the gym too. No reason not to now. Knee and neck are fine and I have the time again--so it is just a matter of getting this butt into gear!

Heartmom--I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Both for Boogie's health and your ability to get him to any treatment he may need.

BOB--now what? See this is why I am personally opposed to housework. it seems to be very bad for one's health. Hope everything is better soon. You and I can keep each other company on the baord when everyone is in NC in October!

Kim--I like your idea about getting back OP for a week or se before getting on the scale. It is good advice and I think I'll take it. TOM is here now anyway so that's not good even if everyting else is ok. This support and friendship is what I miss so much when I'm not on the board!

Deb--That invitation to come to the dungeon was just a little to gleeful. Scary. I may need one of those kick you in the butt phone calls though! And just WHEN are you going to the Dr.?

Jack-K--thanks for the welcome back. Get that computer fixed so we don't have to miss you!

Ok--got to do some work--still want to sleep. But I'm taking the weekend off from church duties and will curl up with Belle and some good book and have some quality "Susan time."

Happy Friday Afternoon All

We finally got a dab of rain last night. Still need more. Nothing really going on with me. Still busy with work and running to check on my aunt.

Music, What willpower passing up on McDonalds.

Mercy, You are are on the right track, if you can't handle something, throw it out. Get rid of the temptation.

Deb, cooking and cleaning may not be your forte, but you are a beautiful person. You are very generous and sweet and look at all you do for us.

Bob, You do need to hibernate for awhile. What else can happen to you????

Sef, I don't think I'm able to afford to have the excess skin removed. Guess I'll have to either work extra hard toning it or live with it. what choices.

Frog, Good to hear from you. Hope your hairdo came out ok. I really need to get mine colored.

Trish, what a nice surprise hearing from an old friend. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Quilter, I hope that coffee didn't mess you up. Maybe Deb can tell you if it is legal.

txterry, Welcome. As you can tell this is a great place to be. It's like going to a WW meeting everyday. Lots of support and friendship. Looking forward to getting to know you. Good luck to you and your DH.

Toni, Glad your tests are over. Hope yu get good results. Rest up and do let DH take care of you. They don't get to do that often enough. I might have to lokk into that hummus too.

SO glad the weekend's almost here. Work shows no sign of letting up for the next two weeks. :(

I made an appt. to get my hair cut on the 5th of July - I'm going to cut it off! Dan's a little sad (why do men always want women to have long hair??) but he says he'll love me even if I shave my head.

I do have to wonder why I'm getting this urge to go short after I've spent over a year growing my hair longer, but what the hey, it'll grow back if I want, right? :D

Friday Funny:

Two elderly residents, one male and one female, were sitting alone in the lobby of their nursing home one evening. The old man looked over and said to the old lady, "I know just what you're wanting, and for $5 I'll have s ex with you right over there in that rocking chair." The old lady looked surprised but didn't say a word. The old man continued, "For $10 I'll do it with you on that nice soft sofa over there, but for $20 I'll take you back to my room, light some candles, and give you the most romantic evening you've ever had in your life." The old lady still says nothing but after a couple minutes, starts digging down in her purse. She pulls out a wrinkled $20 bill and holds it up. "So you want the nice romantic evening in my room," says the old man." Heck, no," replies the old lady. "I want four times in the rocking chair!"

Have a good weekend!

Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a freshman in college, sat in her U.S. Government class. The professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about.
Bambi thought for a moment, and then answered, "That was the decision George Washington had to make when he decided to cross the Delaware."

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I apologize for saying a quick hi and then being awol for a few days. Went and saw my DD up in Milwaukee. She goes to school there and is leaving for Quebec on Tuesday. She'll be studying French.

I'm off again to yet another graduation party. Lord help me. I'm still trying ti work through the >>>what the h*ll attitude and snarfing every carb and sugar molecule in sight. I have another party tomorrow night, too.

Maybe there will be hummus or bowls of almonds (that's the nut I voted for);)

There are some great losses here. Sounds like a good group of losers to be around. I'm sure you've all heard that before.

Sorry I can't respond individually. I feel like I'm the new girl in class and I'm just learning everyone's names. I'll surely take notes next time I read.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Everyone

Deb - Thanks for all the recipe sites. That will keep me busy for a while although I don't want to think about food at the moment. I just finished a chicken curry with basmati rice and a salad and I am stuffed. Ate too much of the rice of course. I just found a new take out East Indian restaurant - yum, yum. I see that the new SB sites are up on the Top of the Forum. Let me know when you need help to move stuff.

BOB - Hope your back is better to-day. Enjoy the movies.

Toni48 - Hope you have recovered from the procedure you had yesterday and that the results are good.

TATER PEOPLE

Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work.

They are called "Speck Taters".

Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work.

They are called "Comment Taters".

Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands.

They are called "Dick Taters".

Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or too sweet.

They are called "Agie Taters".

There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help.

They are called "Hezzie Taters".

Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not.

They are called "Emma Taters".

Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others.

They are called "Sweet Taters".

If you know any "Sweet Taters", send them this!

After saying that I don't want to think about food, now I have to go and figure out what to take to work with me tomorrow for breakfast and lunch.

Greetings to everyone.

Marie.

HiedieHo All!!!

Well my rooms are clean and so is the pool. I changed the bed and hung four pictures. Over my bed I have a large picture of DH and I. One one side I put son's baby picture and beneath it his high school picture, did the same for DS on other side. Still have a bunch of pictures I said I wanted to hang on one wall. Will get to it soon.

TERRY: Welcome. You'll find this an easy and reasonable program. And you will get scads of help. Questions are always being asked and not always by newbies, sometimes we oldies need a refresher on something. Look for yogurt without sugar or corn syrup. A lot of us use plain yogurt and add sweetner and fruits.

TONI: You're a little sore but still you sat and wrote to us! How long before you get your results?

JACKK: If I was born rich instead of good looking I'd have the excess skin chopped off! But, I was gypped out of both so guess I will just have to live with the dingledangle arms and belly!

GYM: Eat something before going to the party, that way you won't be so hungry you want to eat everything in sight. I like to get a glass of seltzer with a twist of lemon or lime at a party. Keeps me from being tempted to indulge in any drink heavier. Don't worry, you'll get used to all of us!

BOB: At the rate you're going I'd put rails on the side of the bed!! I know you're just lolling there and watching movies, but if you laugh too hard who lnows what might happen! Hope back is better.

I love the Friday Funnies. I take them to the NH, the residents love them...even the naughty ones. I either clean up the raunchy ones or don't use them, but I like a little raunch!

Take care all, Shirley

This is a little long, but cute!

GENESIS: THE MODERN VERSION!

In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth. And the Earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep.
And the Devil said, "It doesn't get any better than this."
And God said, "Let there be light" and there was light.
And God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit," and God saw that it was good.
And the Devil said, "There goes the neighborhood."
And God said, "Let us make Man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle, and over all the Earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the Earth."
And so God created Man in his own image; male and female created he them.
And God looked upon Man and Woman and saw that they were lean and fit.
And the Devil said, "I know how I can get back in this game."
And God populated the earth with broccoli and cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
And the Devil created McDonald's. And McDonald's brought forth the 79-cent double cheeseburger.
And the Devil said to Man: "You want fries with that?"
And Man said: "Supersize them." And Man gained 5 pounds.
And God created the healthful yogurt, that woman might keep her figure that man found so fair.
And the Devil brought forth chocolate. And Woman gained 5 pounds.
And God said, "Try my crispy fresh salad."
And the Devil brought forth Ben and Jerry's. And Woman gained 10 pounds.
And God said, "I have sent thee heart-healthy vegetables and olive oil with which to cook them."
And the Devil brought forth chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained 10 pounds and his bad cholesterol went through the roof.
And God brought forth running shoes and Man resolved to lose those extra pounds.
And the Devil brought forth cable TV with remote control so Man would not have to toil to change channels between ESPN and ESPN2. And Man gained another 20 pounds.
And God said, "You're running up the score, Devil."
And God brought forth the potato, a vegetable naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition.
And the Devil peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fat fried them. And the Devil created sour cream dip.
And Man clutched his remote control and ate the potato chips swaddled in cholesterol. And the Devil saw and said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest. And God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.
And the Devil canceled Man's health insurance.
Then God showed Woman how to peel the skin off chicken and cook the nourishing whole grain brown rice.
And the Devil created light beer so Man could poison his body with alcohol while feeling righteous because he had to drink twice as much of the now-insipid brew to get the same buzz.
And Man gained another ten pounds.
And God created the life-giving tofu. And Woman ventured forth into the land of Godiva Chocolate and upon returning asked Man: "Do I look fat?"
And the Devil said, "Always tell the truth." And Man did.
And Woman went out from the presence of man and dwelt in the land of the divorce lawyer, east of the marriage counselor. And Woman put aside the seeds of the earth and took unto herself comfort food.
And God brought forth Weight-watchers. It didn't help.
And God created exercise machines with easy payments.
And man brought forth his Visa at 21 percent. And the exercise machine went to dwell in the closet of Nod, east of the polyester leisure suit.
And in the fullness of time, Woman received the exercise machine from Man in the property settlement. It didn't help her, either.

Howdy all! Sorry I haven't had much time to post in the last couple of days. The weather has been hot and muggy. Yesterday and today I had to walk around 11 so I could be sure to get my walk in before the afternoon rains. Let me just tell ya, that humidty weighs on you something terrible. I could barely run..less than a mile and broken..but I did get in 3 miles both days. I don't know how ya'll do it....some days I don't think I will ever be in good shape.

Welcome TxTerry! From radar on the news you all have been getting plenty of rain the last few days. I'm a little farther north than you..up near Lake Livingston. You and your husband will be amazed at the results to his sugar after following this WOE for a while. And it does get easier......:)

Well all...I'm being lazy tonight and cutting this short. I hope you all have a blessed safe OP weekend.

Hello everybody! Friday night and my nieces are here with us. They crack me up, because they both LOVE TO LAUGH. We are having fun. They have beaten us in two games of euchre, those little whipper snappers!!! Now we are all in tears from America’s Funniest Videos. Whew, I’m out of breath!

Paul requested Mexican tonight for dinner. I worried for a second or two, because that means tortilla chips or tortillas. Well, I made my usual taco thing with tortilla chips. Then I reserved some of the meat and beans and toasted some pita wedges for me. It was really good that way. I was so happy with my choice to go legal and have the pita wedges. Very yummy. Thanks to all who have mentioned those wonderful homemade pita chips! That worked really well.

MUSIC---Is your walking video tape by Leslie Sansone? I have three of her older ones and they are GREAT! I don’t use them enough, but I agree that she gives you a really good workout. Thanks for reminding me about them. I’ll have to try them next week.

SEF---Hope you made it through the day with as litlle of Arthur as possible.

TERRY---WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!!! We’re so glad you joined in. We really don’t mind lurkers but we’d much rather meet people. Hope you have a good week with SB and that you get all your questions answered. Remember when you ask a question, there are probably at least 20 people who want the answer to the same question but didn’t want to ask. So think of your questions as helping others as well as yourself!

FILLISE---Ain’t it great to be back with the old gang? We missed you. I was away myself for quite a while and I know how great it is to get back to all these wonderful people and their fantastic support.

TONI---So glad to know you made it through the exam. Just take it easy for a couple of days. You deserve all the tender loving care you can get after going through something like that. Hey, did you weigh yourself yesterday morning when you were all emptied out???? Just wondering if that was a particularly good moment!

GYMNUT---Don’t worry about not responding to everybody. It takes a while to get to know people. It’s good to just get on every day and touch base. It doesn’t have to be a long post, just something so that you are feeling a part of the group.

DEB--Your signs were hilarious. I LOLed.

BOB--Sure do hope the young un does well with his first trip to see Grandpaw. Did you take the child aside and clue him in on how to behave?

That’s it for me. Super late. My eyes cannot stay open any longer. Zzzzzzzzz.

Hi all,

I had a great time on the Casino Cruise ship Wednesday night. It would be great if I could lose weight as quickly as I did money. Now I know why I don't do much gambling. It was worth the trip just for the fun of the cruise, plus the free food and drinks. The good news is that I stayed OP with my eating and only had 2 glasses of wine in hopes of settling my stomach. I never did get sick, but was sure stayed dizzy the entire night. The ship wasn't the only thing doing a lot of rocking.

I went walking with Tranquil and Gram Thursday night and got tortured as usual. I suspect that Tranquil takes the extra long route every time I'm along. From now on I know to take water and a porta potty when I go with her. No wonder she calls me a Weenie! Can't wait until she tries to kill me at the gym tomorrow.

BOB, I cooked the squash casserole tonight and it was delicious. We also had salmon fillet cooked on my new Lean mean grilling machine. Wish I'd gotten one of those a long time ago. I love to use it! Tranquil joined us for dinner and enjoyed the casserole also. Hope the back is better.....geez, what is next for you lady? Nothing else I hope. I have taken both Paxil and Celexa. Neither one did much for me so I am now taking Zoloft. It seems to help me the most. Have you ever tried it? It is my understanding that meds like that take about 4 weeks to get in your system and start working. Is that what you have been told also?

Country, what kind of bow would you suggest for me to look for? Thought I'd start pricing them so that I will know how much money I need to save. Think I might still have my old Bow in the attic but would rather just get a new one. As for my soon to be ex, I don't know when he will be gone but it won't be soon enough for me. Tranquil tells me he will never leave because I am not mean enough. She may be right. He is looking for a job out of town as he wants to be away from everything here. The stress of knowing we will get a divorce and living in the same house in very difficult at times, especially after being married for 19 years. We don't share the bedroom anymore so at least have our own space. Think he might get the hint that I don't want him here when I put his picture on a target to practice with my new bow when I get one?:p

Jack-K, Darn, I didn't find a sugardaddy on the cruise! If I ever do, I will see if he has a friend for you! :D Seriously, sometimes I feel like I want to just be unattached for the rest of my life after this experience with my soon to be ex.

Toni, glad to hear that your test went well. Hope the results will be just as good.

Quilter, the chicken spinach sandwhich that you had sounded so yummy! It might have been fattening, but at least you stayed legal. Good for you on your food choices.

Deb, it looks like you will have to start feeling better before we can come for a visit! Are you tired yet of everyone telling you to go to the doctor? If you are, then just go and get it over with.
It would be great if BOB could visit when Tranquil and I do. I would love to meet her also. What fun we would have! Definitely have to go to Ole Ole and Starbucks of course.

txterry, glad you have joined us here. You couldn't be in a better place for help and support.

Fillise, welcome back! I understand why you would miss these group when you were away. I haven't been here too long and miss it if I am gone for just a few days.

Well, it is almost 2am and about time for bed. Hope you all have a nice weekend and hello to everyone that I've missed this time.

Yes... contrary to popular belief I am still alive, and have even survived a visit from JRed ;)

My cable's been out for 2 weeks and I swear I thought I was gonna keel over!!!!!!! I've been doing fine, busy as all heck though. I've worked every single day for the last 10 days with no off day coming until Wednesday coming up. :dizzy:

JRed called me when she got into town, hoping that I was still alive and kicking... and I happened to be HOME! (that was a shock in itself!!) So we met up for Cawfee at Starbucks and our "short" visit ended up being almost 2 hours!!!!!!! We talked like we'd known each other for years and she's the most wonderful lady! She came well prepared with a digital camera and I interrupted a nice cozy conversation between a couple to ask if they'd take our picture!! I'm sure they picked up where they left off when we left though ;) Wasn't my best picture taking day... I'd worked AND done 8 hours of training... so I was on hour 20 at that point. I did however, go home and get some SLEEP!!! I can now attest that JRed is *NOT* an axe murderess ;) LOLOLOLOL!!!

Went to the doc for the yearly exam :eyeroll: and bloodwork and found out that I have cysts again. My hormones are all out of whack and I'm stuck at 175 pounds. I've been staying OP, and exercising, and it just won't come off... it's been bugging me, but at least now I know why. I'm going for an ultrasound next week sometime, and I'll find out what the real deal is. Hopefully I can get this straightened back out and get back to losing!! I'm focusing on my health first though, and then I'll worry about losing!! The doc is still proud that I've lost 30 pounds since the first visit this year! She thinks maybe my body is still making the hormones for the higher weight, and hasn't caught down to the lower weight yet, and it's messing me up. I just know that my TOM has been HORRIBLE since I started SB. I've been a 4 days, always light kind of girl... and the first TOM I had after starting SB was the most awful 7 day heavy and painful thing I've ever had. It's been like that every month since I started SB. Weird huh.

OK.. Well I'm off to take the kids to my mom's for the week!! HORRAYYYYYYY!!!!!! So I'll be back on soon, providing they can keep the cable working around here!! :)

Hi's to everyone, sorry I just don't have time to catch up on all the back posts.

JRed is gonna post a pic of us when she gets home! :) Proof ya know ;)

Bye Y'all

HiedieHo All!!!

Just checking in before I start to answer some letters. I thought correspondence via e-mail was so easy! Yeah, sure!!! Because it's so easy people who didn't usually write are now writing and I have more to answer! Not really complaining, I love to write and love receiving letters; just seems anymore I don't have the time I used to.

QUILT: Isn't it great to be around youngsters once in a while? Puts us in touch with the xhild within us! At the moment Arthur seems to be under control, he's so impetuous I never know when he'll act up again. Not always weather, just the nature of the beast! You're so right about the question thing. I see a question and think I wondered about that too! About the pita chips, have you seen the ones made from Oat Bran? They're good. A little different taste. I haven't tried to chip them yet. I love the WW chips too.

SERENE: Maybe it was the ship that made you dizzy. If you're not used to indulging in alcohol anymore 2 glasses of wine might make you a little woozy.

Made the spinach quiche last night for supper. We all love mushrooms and I put in a whole small box of sliced fresh mushrooms. It was delicious as always. Since I like to cook will have to check out those sights that DEB posted.

Well, I'd better get to those letters. See you all later.

Wendy..how long did you cook your salmon. I have the Hamilton Beach big model of the Geo Forman..Got a lot of salmon in the freezer and need to cook it.
Glad you like the squash..I'm scooting out later to get some more to fix another casserole this afternoon..ALSO fixing one of Debs
quiche's, and a LOAD of HUMMUS...Cooked 4 lbs of chicken tenders in the pressure cooker and will make chicken salad with that..I'm trying to get my week situated...I've got scallops to fix
and some shrimp to do...WHEW!!! I need to be on FOOD TV!!!
I took PAXIL since October and really liked it except for the weight gain..Ive been on CELEXA for two weeks most of that combining with the paxil to wean off...then I find out you don't have to do that with these two...the combo of the two gave me the horrible vivid dreams I had last week...
I'm going to give the CELEXA a whirl as it's supposed to not have the weight gain effect. I'll let you know...
 every buddy....
I LOVE THE NEW BOARD....WE'RE STYLING & PROFILING

Whew doggie am I ever tired!!! I've been working in that kitchen all day. Emptied it and then started on that ********* wallpaper border. I hate wallpaper. I am luck that there was so little of it in the house when I moved in. Our kitchen is so ugly. It's got beautiful old cabinets, but they wall color is an ugly shade of pink that doesn't even go with the honey color of the cabinets. The floor looks like vomit. So anyway, we would LOVE to gut the whole thing and redo. But that's impossible for the next couple of years. So we decided to paint and do a few other things: new lights, possibly a new floor. So that's what we started on today. I don't see how those people on Trading Spaces can do so much in two days. I've barely got the walls ready to prime and I'm pooped. We did go get the paint and I'm so excited with the color. Beautiful!!!

Have done great with my eating. One sure-fire cure to stop eating too much is to pull the refrigerator out and push the front of it up against something else. Instant eating pattern!!!

Well DH just ran down to his office to restart a machine. So I think I may take a wee nap before he gets back. We are going to a party at one of his old friends house tonight. I doubt if there will be anything there I can eat. I do know they are having pork loin. We have to take corn on the cob. I had a big lunch so I probably won't have much if anything there. Wish me luck. I do know that sometimes when I am a little bit uncomfortable, I tend to eat and just stuff food in. Ouch, the truth hurts.

Take care all. Talk to you tomorrow between coats of paint.

HiedieHo All!!!

HoHum day. I did finish one long letter, read the paper, watched a movie. Just lazing!

BOB: I love squash and read your recipe. I thought commercial creamed soups were not OP. I have q copuple of recipes we enjoy but have been avoiding them for that reason. Must be okay though, I didn't see where the Dungeon Lady got out her whip over it!!!!

FILLISE: We know!!

QUILT: So what color are you excited about? In the background Trading Places probably has a crew to work wonders. It is impossible to do the work they do in such a short time. Those of us who have been DIYers know this! I don't care what they say! You don't need to be uncomfortable! Repeat asfter me........"I am a beautiful person who can do what I want and I DON'T want to go off the deep end. I WILL eat as I should" There is pork there so have pork, parties usually have finger foods like vegs and dip, grab a piece and as long as you have something in your hand they will think you are eating just like they are! Trust me! You can do it!

See you, Shirley

Hello everyone. Finally getting to have some time on the computer. I love the new site its great... I made the lemon agave chicken someone suggested and it was really good. Thank you for the idea. I also made me some fried apples that were great. Melted butter in a non stick skillet added sliced apples, cinnamon and agave. Cooked till nice and soft. Yummy what a nice dessert...

Serene- Thanks for posting the joke it was cute.. The gambling cruise sounds like allot of fun. I haven't been on one in a couple of years. I stayed mostley outside watching the river. It was just so beautiful..

CountryMom-Sure know about that humity. Its so hot and muggy here and the air is so heavy it makes it kind of hard to breathe.

The Quilter- Forgot to weigh myself that evening but I haven't lost a lb. Congradulations on doing so good on the mexican food. I've just got to make those pita chips...

Beth- Howdy ho missing lady.... Yes your health should come first and I hope all goes well with the ultrasound. And they get to the bottom of whats wrong. That was neat you got to visit with jred..

Sef- You're right its wonderful to see the world through the eyes of a child. Your quiche sounds good...

Bob- Sounds like you're cooking up a storm.... You'll be ahead of the game for sure...

Fillise- Howdy to you. Don't you just hate when you lose your post. It discusses me so bad I have to get off line when that happens..

The Quilter- Oh how great a new paint job will make it wonderful. Sounds like you have a giant job ahead of you.. Hope you got a little nap before the party...

Guess I'll sign off for now... Hope everyone has a great week-end...

I haven't seen an email sent to me from the forum. Went to the main site to find the link to click on and see what's up and IT'S NOT THERE. Really, Deb, I looked and looked. Finally found a link to it somewhere on the site and voila- I'm here. I hope that by posting, everything will resume to normal. I also finally posted my BIO. As for Boogie, he just gets cuter everyday. He's doing really well now. Thanks for all the prayers and support.;)

Hi gang,

I'm unable to sleep right now, (it's 2:15 a.m.):dizzy: I was waiting up for my 17 year old to get home from a date, and got some snooze time in earlier.

The new forum looks great. I couldn't get on yesterday and wondered what that was about. I'm meeting my 3 sisters at 3:00 this afternoon to see the YaYa's movie. I loved both of the books she wrote. I'm the daughter of a YaYa. My mom still has 'club' as she call it. Still runs around with the grade school/high school friends and she's 76 years old.

I'm really liking my own homemade lemon/raspberry yogurt. By homemade I mean that I added my own sweetener and fruit. Tastes great.

Off to bed. Nite nite.

Hey this is new! I must try it. I am back from Prince Edward Island and it was awesome. We ate lobster til we looked like it...and everything else we could get our hands on. My parents leave for Ontario on Monday, Canada Day here, and that is when I will start back to SB. I haven't even got on the scales yet, talk about scary! I did however, buy the Walking Away the Pounds Videos...has anyone seen/heard/used these? Let me know before I open them please. I bought all 3 at 14.99 each so if they are not good I will return them.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Thought I'd try and get in a post here this morning as I surely know I won't be getting out to walk today! It's pouring rain, as well as thundering, so that sure puts a damper on things. Thankfully, it never holds us back from going up to Broward! Just not walking weather.

Went to a few garage sales yesterday, very few out there as I think most expected the rains, but of course, they held out til later in the day. Came back early because Michael wanted to go to something but we ended up not going after all. Only thing I picked up was a huge back on miniature perfume bottles for my Mom's collection and a Kenmore Vacuum. I wanted an extra vacuum for quick jobs. This is exactly like the Fantom, a canister, for $10. These sell for quite a bit, and I know I got a great price on it. Didn't have the tools (crevice, brush and one other), which is okay. I have a Rainbow that I absolutely LOVE, but sometimes if I want to do a quickie on the carpet it's easier to have a regular one instead of fiddling with the water.

ELI'S new store has hit some snags and he won't know until tomorrow WHEN the store will open. The latest is something with the electrical in the back, that it's not light enough at night and has to have more lighting before they open. If the Landlord won't fix it on Monday then ELI says SB'S people will have to do it and that could take some time to get a crew in. If they are smart they'll just wait til he gets back-they keep changing the date and it's NOT good for them, or the customers OR the intended party they have planned. Of course, it's costing them money not to open, he says 20-30 people stop in asking if they are opened yet/opening soon-good and bad in a way.

The new boards are up. There are changes that need to be made here and there, nothing major at all, just little ones, but I'm thrilled and delighted that we have these changes in place and I hope it makes it easier for everyone to find the information they want, esp. the recipes! I will start working on things this week a little bit and then next week when the kids start school and ELI is away I will devote a lot of time to get them in order. Just bear with me a bit guys:^:

QUILTER, hope you didn't give that coffee drink you had at B&N another thought, even if it wasn't OP, it wasn't intentional. It's with knowing and having something you know is not OP that makes it intentional and a no-no:nono: I'm sure over the last 2 years that I've eaten something that had a non-SB legal ingredient in it without knowing and I survived. Had I known something was in it I'd probably not eaten it, as I do try to ask when something's in question, but I'm sure that somewhere along the way there was something not OP that I ate-so don't even give it another thought, you are doing great! It may just of been MARX that we went to. Do they have a long white sheet of all the bagels listed when you want to order to fill out-I brought one home and lost it-if that's the same place then I have to agree, they do have the best bagels I've ever had!

SEF, about the pine nuts, I get them at the ME store. You can get them at any grocery store but they have the nerve to charge a ridiculous amount for a tiny jar, like over $2 for a few ounces whereas you can get them at the ME store anywhere from $7-9 a pound. I know the BJ'S (like Costco) here sells them as well at a good price. They really embark a wonderful taste when toasted and even untoasted they have a delicious creamy flavor. We use them a lot in our cooking at home. In the eggplant dish, in the salmon I make, even with some sauteed onions! I think it is so wonderful all the work you do for the community and your fellow church members!!! They are truly blessed to have you!

FROG, will have to find a good time to give you a call, been a long time! Hope your hair came out well. I need to go get mine done, it's been since early March and my roots look like they sprang up right out of the ground!

TRISH, hope JORDAN made it back safe and sound! That's a nice surprise that you had from your old friend and I'm glad to hear whatever happened seems to be bridge under the water now.

FILLISE, I'd LOVE to chat with you on the phone. Ask QUILTER, I can even do DETOX DUNGEON work on the telephone! E-mail me your phone number at any time and we'll get together for a 1-on-1 chat!! You think the invitation to the DD is gleeful? Hey, I have to lure y'all in with my charm then snag you in the cuffs after you've fallen pray!!! LOL!!!

TONI, glad to hear the colonoscopy went well. You and Pres. Bush could of had a 2-4-1 deal going if you could of waited til Saturday! When I make hummus we eat it with WW pita bread, but it's also good on celery. Sometimes we make with meat, just saute some small chunks of lamb in some spices with pine nuts and place it on the top of the hummus-yummy!!!!!!!!

JACKK, awwww, you are so nice to say such sweet things about me, you made me feel good. It makes people wonder how the DD could be such an awful place when you say things like that about me-tends to throw them off, I like that;) Really though, thanks, it does make me feel good!

JENN, I had fairly long hair, at least for me, and kept it my naturally curly way for years and decided I needed a change and went not only straight, but short. The second time I had it cut I went even shorter! I love it and I truly think it looks better shorter, but then again, I'm older than you and when you get up there in years I think shorter is better on an older person. Just ask BOB, she's so old she's got a REALLY short haircut! LOL!!

GYM, that's nice your DD is going to be up in Canada. How long will she be there? When you are ready for some SB LEGAL CHOCOLATE (don't think about it now), ask her to bring you some of the Lindt 80% Cocoa from there, (among others available). ROSALIE brought me some she got from Sears (of all places) and it's wonderful. You can't get it here in the states, unfortunately (or in my case, probably good you can't!)

BOB, LOL!!!!! LOL!!!!! SKEETER left you a load in your shirt!!! LOL!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! I see you are really liking the new boards!!!

ROSALIE, glad you are having a good time searching the sites I sent-enjoy!

COUNTRY, you're doing great on your exercise-whatever you get in is better than nothing. I know how the heat and humidity can drain you-just hope you are drinking enough water;)

SERENE, you had me laughing when you said It would be great if I could lose weight as quickly as I did money. I feel the exact same way! Yes, it would be great if we could get BOB to come down the same time-she'd definitely stir up some big trouble, I guarantee! I have room for everyone if I pull out the blow up beds, and then we could have a slumber party!!!

BETH, I'm so thrilled to hear you and JRED got to visit, esp. at visit at STARBUCKS!!! The way you felt, as if you'd known each other for years is exactly how we all feel when we get to meet each other and know you know just how those of us who've had the pleasure of meeting someone feel. Isn't it awesome! Can't wait to see her pics! I hope those cysts are nothing serious-keep us informed!

MERCY, don't let BOB pass the hummus recipe off as being hers! I taught her everything she needs to know about hummus!!! My recipe is on the recipe boards. If you can't find it in a search, just let me know and I'll get it to you via e-mail (do I have your e-mail addy?)

GRACIOUS, glad to have you back safe and sound. Lobsters galore? My daughter would be so jealous-that's her favorite!!!

CHRIS, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD-I've got you on my e-mail list now:) It was nice to learn a bit more about you, esp. that you have an Oct. bday as well. Would love to see the pic you posted in bigger form, hard to see you, but at least now I know you have dark hair!!!

HEARTMOM, thank you too for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, you too are now added to my e-mail list.

Okay, rains seem to have stopped and I've seemed to be caught up at this point, so off to the showers I go. I'll be back on this evening as well as tomorrow morning to start the new boards.

Have you all noticed the new feature of the board??? You have a mini relpy page at the bottom of the regular boards now and can just scroll up and down and post a reply after you read someone's post-just remember, you could easily lose it, so make a copy before you submit it!!!!

Have a wonderful Sunday!!!

Good Morning! I am really sleep and will probably go back to bed for 20 minutes or so. The party was fun last night, but we stayed out too late. Didn’t get home until 1. I know some of you are probably saying that’s not so very late, but for me it is. I am not good after 10:30 or 11. But we were playing Boggle (surprisingly fun with a group of 10!) and the time flew. I did okay on the eating. They grilled a pork loin. Luckily Mr. Host asked who wanted barbecue so I could say “no thanks”. I was the only one, but that didn’t bother me. I knew I was getting what I wanted. He did spice it up with pepper and garlic and it was delish. They also roasted veggies in a big pan, so I had some of them. I truly wasn’t that hungry. And felt sufficiently fed. Confession: I did have a teeny, eeny, eeny bit of a strawberry daiquari. Yes, alcohol is the difficult to pass up at times. But the rest of the evening I drank my diet lemon lime and water. So I feel that situation could have been much worse. Besides I told hubby he could drink as much as we wanted and I’d drive home. These were his old friends from high school, so I offered to be the dd so he could really let loose. He VERY rarely does that so it doesn’t bother me to be abstaining. I feel as though I don’t need the calories to begin with so why now???

Today is work day. More time in our wee kitchen. You can barely walk around because of the fridge and stove being out in the middle of the floor!

SERENE---Glad to hear you had fun on the cruise ship. Sorry that Sugar Daddy wasn’t on that particular cruise. Perhaps it’s not such a great idea to meet a guy in a gambling setting. I might tend to worry if he’s got a problem. LOL!!! I’ve been meaning to ask you: did you and TRANQ know each other before SB or is this a new friendship? Remember, I was away for a while and missed when you two joined. You made me LOL when you talked abotu carrying a porta potty. Would that be commonly referred to as a Depends????

BETH---Welcome back! Glad to hear that you and JRED got to meet. Isn’t that fun????

SEF---Yes, it was great being around my niece. They are so much fun and love life. I think they had fun while they were here. They will both be at the same college this year and they are not the tiny little girls I remember. But they still love to have fun!!! I have not seen any oat bran pitas. But I haven’t done any shopping at Wild Oats yet. I am making a list of everything that I need to get from there or at least look for when I go. It would be easier to have them already made, but cutting up my own only takes a few minutes. Here’s another thing I like about doing them myself: I haven’t been putting any spices or olive oil on them. So they are good WITH other food, but NOT something I want to munch on by itself. Does that make sense. Like I can kind of go over board on the triscuits because they are so yummy by themselves. Not the case with the homemade pita chips. About the kitchen: it’s going to be a beautiful shade of green. Our dining room has a very dark shade of green (Ralph Lauren’s “Herb Garden) kind of sagey not hunter green. So I got a lighter green that’s really goes well with the kitchen. I have a lot of that kobalt blue glassware as accessories. So I think they will look great with this green. Here’s another exciting thing that happened: we pulled the stove out and saw that there’s a gas line back there. Well, I didn’t know that (Do you see how long it’s been since I pulled that avocad monster out from the wall?) so I’m going to have the gas company come out and check it for safety. If it all looks workable we are going to go get a new GAS RANGE. I am so excited. I’ve always had to cook on electric and most everyone I know really enjoys cooking on gas better. I was shocked that Paul got totally on board with this and said, let’s start looking around at what’s available. The deck came in under budget, so I guess we have money left over. I am doing the happy dance over this for sure. Hey, thanks, as always for the pep talk. You are so good at that!!! Geesh, my post to you is so long, I should have just emailed you!!!! LOL

BOB---Yes, it’s an accurate description . . . Floor des Spew!!! You know I always pinch Paul for you. He’s getting quite addicted to them! Are you okay? How were the storms??? Did you blow away???? BOB, I hoped you liked Gosford Park. I went to see that at the theatre and loved it. But I’m a huge british movie star lover. Maggie Smith was excellent and so funny it it. Helen Mirren is WONDERFUL. Hey that reminds me of something I wanted to tell you. I’ve been watching Wimbledon on TNT during the daytime and they’ve been advertising an original movie. It has Helen Mirren and William H. Macy (two of the best actors around today!). It’s about a man with challenges and I think he’s trying to be a door to door salesman. Looks very Hallmark-ish. Everything WHMacy does is excellent, so I’m hoping this ranks right up there. I’ll try to watch for a day and time.

MERCY---What’s your egg casserole??? How yummy was it? How much work was there to it???

TONI---That apple dessert you described sounds wonderful. Made my mouth water. You know DEB can tell you how to make SB legal whip cream. Think how good that would be on top of them!!! Yummy! Can you tell I haven’t eaten breakfast yet???

DEB----Sorry you’ve had so much trouble getting on. Just remember we’ll all be here when you do have time and opportunity. Hope you and Big E has a wonderful time. Was it romantic??? I’ll be sending him good thoughts for his trip. Hope it goes well and that he gets to see lots of family. More reasons why we should all be praying for peace. The new board layout is WONDERFUL. I am so enjoying how organized it is. Gotta love that!!!

HEART---Do you have a “favorite” or “bookmark” made for SB? If so, you might have to delete the one you have and make a new one. That’s what I had to do and now I go right to the SB threads immediately. Are you running windows internet explorer as your browser? If so, you could make SB the page that automatically come us when you launch the program. Just a couple of suggestions to make it easier for you. Also, hugs to Boogie!!!

Well that’s it for me. Just about ready to find some breakfast. Perhaps scrambled eggs would be good this morning. I’ve even gotten away from wanting toast with them. I truly think we’ve all gotten into the habit of masking our foods. We used salad dressing and then we can’t really taste the veggies. I ate toast with my eggs and I miss out on the truly yummy taste of the eggs. That kind of thing. Okay, well have a great Sunday. Please cross your fingers that there will be new paint on the walls of my kitchen at the time of my next post! Take care.

Hi!

Thought I'd try to do a few posts before going to meet Tranquil at the gym.

Sef, the wine I had on the ship didn't help much, I have to admit. Tranquil had suggested I have a glass of wine to settle my stomach. The wine served was in a small glass and only half full, due to it being free I would guess. SO, I figured I need two glasses to actually make one. :dizzy: Well, I think the swaying of the ship magnified the effect of the wine because I felt like I'd had about 10 glasses. I'm not a big drinker so I really felt woozy all night. Next time, I will just take some medicine before going on a boat.

BOB, The salmon I cooked was about 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick and it took about 9 minutes in the George Foreman grill. I have seen the hamilton beach model and it looks nice. The one thing I don't like about the George Forerman grill is that the plates don't come off for cleaning. Makes it a little trickier to clean.
Oh, I love chicken salad! What other ingredients do you include in yours? You sound like you would be perfect for food tv. I've got to try to hummus soon also.
WOW, BOB, a combination of paxil and celexa:eek: Good thing you found out you didn't have to wean off like that. My doctor told me the same thing about celexa.....no weight gain. I didn't gain weight while on it, however, it just didn't help with chemcial imbalance issues for me. I hope it will be just what you need.

Toni, the friend apples sound delicious.....one of my favorites! I also went out on the boat deck quite a bit. The view was great as the moon was large and almost full. Besides, I needed to get some fresh air from so many people smoking in the casino.

Quilter, we have something else in common. I also have a floor that I think looks like vomit and ugly wallpaper. The lady we bought the house from a year ago made some poor decorating choices. As soon as things as settled with the ex-2-b, I plan on decorating the house the way I want it! I also enjoy watching Trading Spaces. Tranquil got me started on shows like that. I will tell you how her and I met when I get back to post later on today, however, we have been friends for about 2 years now.

Sorry that I can't finish posting now but it is time to leave for the gym and Tranquil will have her whip out if I am late.

Hi to everyone and have a wonderful Sunday.

Take care,
Wendy

Hmmm, let's see if I can keep this post today. . .

OK 2 1/2 OP days going now. Last night I made my pasta a la vodka--I haven't made it in a long time and forgot how tasty it is. I posted on a recipe board a long time ago--but for those of you who don't feel like looking (It was more than a year ago) you take:

one large can tomato puree
1/2 cup grated parmesian cheese
1/2 cup half and half
1 onion
basil
1 tbl olive oil
1/4 cup vodka (can be omitted if you like)
Your favorite WW pasta

Put the pasta on to cook.
Cut the onion in half and suatee both halves in olive oil. Pour in can of tomoro puree and simmer for a few minutes. Then add half and half, cheese, and vodka and simmer over low heat till pasta is done. Remove onion halves.

When pasta has finished cooking, drain and pour into sauce. Stir to coat well and add fresh (or dried) basil to taste. Top with additional grated cheese, if you would like.

This is very tasty and legal. I use regular half and half because the fat free is made with corn syrup. I don't see why you couldn't use milk instead. This will easily serve 4-6 folks.

I'm going to have this again for lunch today.

I didn't get around the making the hummus so will try again today.

Other than that it is going to be a very quiet day. I'm taking a little mini vaction this weekend--so Belle and I are curled up with good books. I just finished the Florabama Auxilery and ladies Sewig Circle--it's good! Gap Creek is next on the list.

Have a good day everyone!

Susan

Hi All, I love this new set up! I just got back from the gym with Serene... I did not do all that I am supposed to do as I will continue to do the rest tomorrow at lunch... this past week has been so busy! TOM is around the corner and today you can really see it, I am puffed up - a regular blowfish - weighed 251 on my scale this morning! Ugh!!! Tonight I am making fish and salad - I have not seen what fish is at the store yet - but it seems to be something I am craving now - fish and salad! DS has two new roommates - he doesn't know yet as he is with his dad! So exciting, had to share the news.... Two little 6 month old guinea pigs! I named them Bill and Ted. I am in love with them...my DS is going to just die!!! I need to go upstairs now and check on them - well, the truth is I cannot keep my hands off of them.

Hope everyone is having a good OP weekend....

Hi all,
Yes, I've been awol for a while.
1st the good news----I made goal :)
Now the bad news---I gained weight :o
Sooo....back to the drawing board. Hubby has decided to do this with me at least for this week....so major goal there.
So here I am at 145 and ready for action. I might add, Deb, that it was all my fault. I ate all the things I missed like ice cream, chocolate, and pizza, pizza, pizza. So I look forward to being accountable once again. Definitely not going back to where I was. I also am giving up diet sodas w/aspartame.

Love to all, 'Fly

HiedieHo All!!!

Good afternoon! Nothing exciting just checking in, I really need the daily "fix" you all give me! Went to church this morning. The choir sang an American Trilogy accompanied by the orchestra, it was great! At the end of the service we said the pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem. Very inspiring service.

It is definitely a 3H day. Just brings you to your knees!

BOB: Thanx for the info. I wasn't considering the fat free part, I have been worried that cream soups are made with white flour! I promise not to eat the whole thing! Get kind of nervous looking out and seeing a funnel cloud!?! Years ago there wasn't a man alive who could carry$68 worth of graceries at one time! Now even I can do it!

TONI: Glad you liked my Lemon/Agave Chicken. Your apples aound delicious. I often get a hankering for something sweet. I'm on HRT and in some ways in mimics your cycle. I have bloating days and sweet/salty days at regularly spaced intervals.

DEB: Thanx for info on pine nuts and nice compliment!

QUILT: See good comes from good. You were able to be dd and not feel you missed out. I love my Southern Comfort on the rocks but I can still be the life of the party without it! As you can see, I'm modest too! I never thought about making the chips w/o some oil spritzed on and some seasoning. Your colors sound great. I have a friend that collects cobalt blue depression and I used to be on the look out for it when I went flea marketing/gargae saleing. I wish we had gas. We had gas when I was growing up and I never really liked electric...there's nor control. You're right about having new tastes for our food. It's not really new, been there all the time, we just didn't let it shine though!

Okay, have to go do nothing! Just sitting here long enough!

Take care, Shirley

Hi Everyone

Did some grocery shopping on the way home from work to-day. Had to stock up as tomorrow is a holiday here and everything will be closed. Just made coleslaw. Not sure what I will be having for dinner to-nite, either trout or lamb chops, depending on whether my ds gets home in time for dinner. He's been in San Francisco for a week and is due back to-day. He was sent there from work for some computer workshop. I will have to cook the trout anyway but can always take it to work for lunch tomorrow. The last time I did lamb chops I did them on the HB Grill and they turned out great. I bought supplies again for the Sweet Potato Quiche - the one I made the other day is finished. It didn't stay in the freezer too long, I took the last piece to work to-day for lunch.

Quilter - Sounds like you had a great time with your nieces Friday night. Glad you enjoyed the party. At least they had food that you could eat. I wouldn't worry about a little daiquiri - hope you enjoyed the one you had.

Sef - I'll have to make your Lemon Agave Chicken. It sounds delish.

Toni - The fried apples sound good. I think I'll try them tonite. I have a few apples waiting to be used up.

Gracious - Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I've not seen Walking Away the Pounds video. The one I have is 2 Mile Walk by Leslie Sansone which is excellent. It's about time I started doing it again!

Deb - Sounds like you did o.k. at the sales to-day. You are always finding the bargains. Sorry to hear about the mess up with the new SB store. Eli must be getting a little tired of it all. Let's hope they wait until he gets back from his holiday for the opening. It's great to see the new boards up. I'm sure things will be easier to find once all the changes are made.

BOB - How did you like the movies? I've seen The Shipping News. Was disappointed with it, found it very boring. I saw Gosport Park at the theatre and thought it was a great movie. Really enjoyed it.

Fillise - I would never have thought of putting vodka in a spaghetti sauce, but it sounds interesting. I'll have to check my liquor supply.

VAButterfly - Welcome back. I'm sure those pounds will come off in no time if you get right back on the wagon. And it is great that you have dh to do this woe with you. Makes it a lot easier if you are both eating the same things

Time to get away from here and catch up on some reading before dinner.

Hi to everyone I've missed.

Bye for now.

Marie.

A little quickie for BOB . . . WARNING . . . DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU PLAN ON SEEING GOSFORD PARK!!!

Helen Mirren killed him. She poisoned his drink in the study. The son knifed or shot (?) him but he was already dead from the drink. Sorry you didn't like it. I'll admit it was really, really hard to understand what the **** was going on. There were so many characters with the miriad of UK accents which was difficult for our american ears. Did you get that Helen Mirren was the young woman who'd had the child by him when she worked at the factory? And the mean cook was her sister? That part really blew me away.

Did you know that I have a crush on Sean Penn??? Truly. I love every single thing he has done. Have you seen Hurley Burley? Upsetting, but very well done.

More later Chickies!!! We've finally got the friggin' primer finished and it's time for some beautified color. The ceiling is finished. Primer and paint. But that's white and tres boring!!! Ceilings are the BEAR to paint. Poor Paul has fallen asleep on the couch beside me. He's plum tuckered out from all this work. Bless him.
