Well, it's looking like we are building up enough Supplement Losers to warrant a chat thread again. It's a nice way to get to know each other and yap even about stuff not directly related to dieting.

So anyhow....I just got all my molars removed. Gotta wait 6-8 weeks, then they'll fit me for dentures. I'm glad I have this program cause it would royally suck trying to figure out what to eat for 2 months without it. It will be interesting doing it this time since I'm not working for the summer. Hopefully, I don't go nuts trying to keep it straight.

OK everybody, time to start sharing a little bit about ourselves. So, what's up?

oh my, all of your molars... how are you feeling? I agree that this is a pretty good time to be on the program 'cause shakes and oatmeal etc... are easy to deal with.
I am personally doing fine, just ajusting to Medifast and school. I am taking two summer classes (chemistry and statisitics) they are both very stressful but eventually I will achieve my goal and become a nurse so it's worth it :)
take care!

I was going to return to college this summer, but, with the troubles I'm having with DD I decided to wait until fall. Also, I bombed on the math portion of the entrance exam. Pretty funny since I had to straighten my bosses math out all the time. I don't use algebra though, so, I just have to bone up a little. I found "PurpleMath" I can do online.

I'm feeling much better today. I hate taking Lortab and usually don't even fill the scrip, but this was just too much pain. I think I'll be OK without it today though. I'm also glad I didn't go to school this summer cause this way I should have all this work done and not have to worry about having it done or how it looks while at school.

So how much longer till you graduate A? Sounds like those are 2 good classes to take on a lite schedule. I can't imagine those along with a full load. Good luck to you going after your dream.

Good Luck to everyone else too. Now get in here and share with us.

I am not sure when I am going to graduate because I am still waiting to get accepted into clinicals but am looking at a couple more years-
I am having a heck of a time in MAth this Summer also. I am taking Statistics and thought it would be easy but I was wrong :) oh well...
How are you feeling? I hope better.
I am still on track with the Medifast and am down now from 264 to 252 in a little over a week.

So I am getting really excited to get started I just wanted to ask you all a quick question, do you think that there is a weight loss difference between MF and WS? Or do you loose at about the same rate? I am sorry for all the questions...I just am very excited to start and I don't want to mess this all up? I also wanted to ask you all about mixing MF and WS...just for some variation...I was not intending on using there pastas or anything, just the shakes and bars, I was also still going to count carbs, and calories the MF way. I also wanted to know what the recommended amount for that was? Sorry for so many questions, Thank You very much!!

Today started week 5 on medifast. This is my second time around. So far so good. I am starting to feel weak of will and wanting most of all shredded wheat. Weird!! Anyways...doing a lot of praying. Has anyone been eating the newer bars (the ones you can eat more than once per day)? I think I am ready to start exercising. Gosh, I hate to exercise! Wish I could find an activity that I enjoy so it wouldn't seem like exercising. I love to dance so I thinking of starting salsa lessons again (years ago!). How's everyone doing OP?

Welcome Stacy.:welcome3: You should be past the rough part if it's gonna happen. Keep in touch.

WTG Romans. Keep up your chin, but, if you slip a little, don't beat yourself up. Could be a whole lot worse than shredded wheat. I know, I've been there. ;)

Well, I've taken the leap and got on an online dating site to try to make friends. Kinda hectic and strange. Had to figure out what to put down for "body type". I put "few extra lbs" since I'm not at goal yet, but, my girls told me everyone would think I'm really fat and using a fake or old picture.:dz: We looked around the site and settled on average. I've met a couple of people who tell me I don't need to lose weight. Anything to get in a girls pants I guess. Just trying to keep my mind straight and focus on my goal.

Trying to get the oldest started in a new business and the youngest to graduate high school. Things are a little more hectic around here since I quit working, but, it's worth it since the youngest and I are getting closer to each other.

Hope everyone has a really great week. :grouphug:

Hello, fellow MF-ers!!

I'm just finishing Day 3...one little shake to go. :stir:

As I wrote in my introductory post, I'm returning to MF after a year and a half. After my first experience with MF, I was successful at maintaining my loss for six months-- but then stress drove me back to some unhealthy old patterns. Life is now smoothing out enough again for me to focus on taking care of myself.

I am thrilled with these new crunch bars! :hungry: Hooray for a new, more portable MF meal option!!! :broc: And from what I can gather, there are a couple new products due for release this coming Monday--pretzels and cheesy poofs, anyone?

When I returned to MF and this website earlier this week, I couldn't remember my former 3fatchicks password, but did find my old posts on this forum. During my first MF adventure (11-07 thru 2-08), my user name was camorgana. I really enjoyed reading my old posts. It's like I can travel through time and be my own coach...

I'm looking forward to sharing with you all! Have a happy Friday tomorrow, everyone! :twirly: Congratulations on taking care of the most important person in your life--YOU!
:woohoo:
Carol.

Good Monday morning, all!

It's been a very good first week of MF for me. The first time that I did MF, I only lost 3 pounds the first week, but today is Day 7 for me and I've already lost 10 (!!). :goodscale I will confess that it was during 'TOM'--so that undoubtedly affected things. AND I know not to expect much this coming week. BUT: what a nice way to start. :D

I just ordered the new products (available today)--pretzels and poofs. I'm thrilled with the new more portable products--the crunch bars and now these. The first time I did the program, I sucked it up and spent a little more to have the ready-made shakes. That made the program work for me BUT airplane travel was difficult. I would make muffins out of the oatmeal and pudding to take with me on flights :chef:, but now with the bars: I feel (literally) unstoppable. AND they are delicious. Anyhoo--I'll give you a review of the new products by week's end :comp:. Barring any crazy slams at MF (I know I :dizzy: got up first thing today to order them...but don't know how many people will be headed to the MF site for today's release of these new items), I should get these tomorrow or Wednesday--I live in Philly, very near MF central.

I hope you all had a great on-plan weekend. Keep going. You are all worth it, and more! :cheer2::cheer::cheer3:

Hi, my name is Georgia and I just started MF today. I initially lost over 40 lbs. just through changing the way I live, but I have been on a plateau for MONTHS now. I'm needing a shock to my system to lose more weight, it seems. I have PCOS symptoms and have a really hard time losing anything more than 1 lbs a week (or month sometimes). We'll see how I do on MF.

I've had two shakes today and now I'm hungry again. I'm choosing to eat celery in between, and I'm going to have 1200 calories a day (adding extra to my Lean and Green meal). I'm tall, so I think I need a little extra. If I get to another big plateau, I can adjust from there.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi, Georgia.
I'm glad you are here and I hope your Day 2 goes great! :welcome:

Hey, everybody--
Today was my one week weigh-in. I can't believe this: I lost 12 pounds this week.
I know that this is really extreme. I do not know why I'm so lucky. AND I certainly don't want my big number to discourage any of you. It was totally unexpected for me. The last time I did MF, I lost about 3 pounds each week, including Week 1. I hope you can look at it like this--maybe you've all got a lovely surprise right around the corner, too. Keep going everyone!!! :bunny2:

I couldn't help myself. I weighed in this morning, after just one day. Down 1.5 lb. I should think so! I am ravenous!

I don't like the vanilla shake. I'm going to doctor it with instant coffee and ice to make a Frapuccino. I really like the dark chocolate and cherry/pomegranate antioxidant shakes!

Congrats Carol! That is such a success.

Georgia - in my experience the first 3 days were the WORST, but if you can get through them it gets alot better. I have been on MF for about 3 months now and am down 30 lbs after slow and steady weight loss. Stick with it! What got me through at the beginning was having 4 meals during the day and a small plain salad or plate of veggies at lunch. Then my lean and green for dinner with a chocolate shake or pudding before bed. During my first week I was waking up with hunger pains in the middle of the night, this plan helped me get through that. Once your stomach shrinks up a bit you will feel less deprived and the meals will be more than enough to get you through your day (along with your L&G of course) Keep us updated! And I ditto Carol's WELCOME :)

Oh yes, these are bad days! I just watched an episode of The Cleaner and I wish I could go into food rehab for a few days, that someone were here to take care of my while I go through the first few days, to help me make sure I stay straight with the program.

Thanks for the encouraging success stories!

Hello, Friends--

I received the new MF products today. I had ordered one box of each, 2 flavors of pretzels and 2 of cheese puffs, first thing Monday morning when they became available.

By the time they arrived, I was still able to substitute two of the new meals into my normal Ready-made vanilla shake/Crunch bar line up. (Those are the only products I use.) So I decided to taste and compare pretzels today, and puffs tomorrow. I have always been a 'save-the-best-for-last' eater, and this choice does reveal my suspicions that I will favor the puffs.

FYI: I do like pretzels--and enjoy the flavor of pretzels themselves, without any added flavors. Salt is NOT an added flavor, right? Ummm...salt...

I tried the honey mustard first. These are a savory (as opposed to sweet) food. The flavor is pretty good, but a little confusing--each bite was slightly different. I think that having to combine so many ingredients (wow--look at the list of ingredients on that little bag...) into small sticks, makes it difficult for a dominant and consistant taste to prevail. I liked them ok. I do think it is a nice switch from all of the more sweet options. Also the crunchy texture is a nice change--although it's not quite the feel of a pretzel. By the end of the bag, I was pleased with the portion size, but was left wondering why they called it a pretzel. I decided it was just a convenient shape (the stick) to mold their product into. The flavor remained tasty to me throughout the meal.

A few hours later, I moved onto the cinnamon pretzel bag. I must say that I had not felt as satiated from the previous bag as I normally am from a crunch bar--so I was eager to try this product for more than one reason. Now with this flavor, it did seem like a pretzel. I could taste the pretzel flavor--and it actually looked more pretzel-like. (I think that the color of the honey mustard flavoring must obscure the look of the actual surface of that other type.) The pretzel-like part of the flavor combines pretty well with the cinnamon, giving it a buttery component. I enjoyed these at first, but maybe just because of resemblance to a pretzel that I'd missed with the other product. However, by the end of the bag, I was not quite as happy with it. Since this one is sweet, I think I would prefer to have a crunch bar.

In general, these products all have 110 calories a bag, but they do not yet have them listed in the drop down menu for the 'my plan' food reporting pages on the Medifast website. Also possibly worth mentioning/confessing :o--after the pretzels have all been eaten, there's considerable dust left in the bags and umm...doesn't it seem entirely reasonable to try to eat it? I mean, I do need all of those nutrients, right? Suffice it to say that the bags were held up to my face for optimum flavor dust consumption. What can I say? I was hungry. :ink:

So far I do recommend that you get a box of each and try them out. You can't beat having other portable options. I think that I would mostly prefer a crunch bar--but having a few extra options is always nice. I know that by month two I can get bored. I do think these are definitely good products. The crunch bars just happen to be outstanding.

:flow1:Tune in tomorrow for cheesey puff review.

Carol.

I ate pie last night, homemade, low fat, low sugar apple pie. A big piece, like around 800 calories. And this morning the scale said I gained four pounds!

I'm back on the wagon, but that really sucks! I do not want to gain back like that when I'm done on MF! My total intake yesterday was under 2000 calories and my TEE is 2400 calories. What happened?

Don't worry Georgia. I can have a shift in weight by 5 lbs. in a day. Our bodies are odd little creations. If I'm retaining water and at different times in my reproductive cycle, my weight will go wild.

I recommend folks use a tape measure as a back up. Lately, I haven't been losing weight(I'm not on a program right now, just eating properly), but, I've been tightening up. It's pretty clear when I look in the mirror and when my kids make comments.

Good luck everyone. Don't let the small stuff get you down or allow yourself to lose focus on the big picture. :grouphug:

Hi, All--

As my atavar belies, I love me some pies! I cannot possibly trust myself to go near any for the time being. Georgia, I am so sorry for your difficulty BUT extremely happy that you have recovered and are moving forward! :twirly:

Today, as planned, I tried the two different flavors of cheese puffs. My instinct was right: I did enjoy them more than the pretzels. :D

I have to say this first, though: why, oh, why can't they just have the regular flavor--you know, that cheesy poofs have (ala cheetos, or cheese doodles, etc.)?? That's what I'd really like. Where's the orangy-goodness. :?:

The texture is nice--kind of reminds me of KIX cereal. Do they still make that? Do you guys know what I'm talking about? Again, the serving size was good. I definitely recommend opening the bag in a way that you can pour them into your mouth. Maybe that sounds gross or gluttonous, but hey--it's not like I eat my MF meals with anyone watching anyway. It was just less messy and more practical. Lots of nice crunchy mouthfuls. :ink:

The flavors:

I've never been a fan of any nacho chili flavors--except I have been known to enjoy the twisty fritos with that flavor, but those have sweetness, too--so they are kind of tangy. (I love tangy and tart, in general.) These, however, are the traditional nacho chili-type flavor. And, even though it's not a taste that I favor--I think it's pretty good. If you like chili-cheese flavor, I'm fairly confident that you will like this one.

The parmesan was good, too--but left me really wanting just a plain cheese flavor instead. This actually had the flavor of alfredo sauce. A nice taste--but not what I want on my cheesy poofs.... :cheese:

I'm admittedly frustrated because it feels like they 'missed it by that much.'
Texture--great; satisfyingly crunchy and crisp.
Serving/packaging--well done.
Flavor--who moved cheese? Plain cheese, that is... :mouse:

:T I definitely recommend ordering some puffs. I know I will enjoy having the remaining six bags of each flavor...we'll see if I order more after that.

Let's all have a great on-plan weekend! Go, us! :grouphug:

Carol.

I'm starting Day 5 in a much better frame of mind than Day 4. And my system is pie-free! Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. I got my second order and so I had the opportunity to try the MF scrambled eggs. Not bad. I sauteed some spinach in olive oil spray and scrambled it with the eggs and it was good. (I like veggies in my eggs.) Today I think I'm going to do the same but with grated zucchini.

I ordered a rowing machine. I used to have one, but the ex is getting it in the settlement. I loved that thing so much that I ordered another one yesterday. It was the most effective piece of equipment I ever used. I look forward to getting back on it!

Have a lovely day!

Georgia

I was wondering how one packet of MF eggs could be better than a single whole egg. The calories are about the same. I looked them up. MF eggs are lower in fats and cholesterol, double the protein, and they also have fiber. Real eggs are lower in sodium. I'll stick to the MF eggs for now.
