Hello to all!

RR, It's so much fun redoing the house or just a room! Does #2 get to choose, what ideas do you have in your head?
What kind of camp are you sending #1 to?

Morning Rabbit! I know all about it, I had a wedding on saturday, stayed op pretty well though and headed for the salads and meat straight away. Unfortunately, the party was at a winery, and I do like wine (white this time, and very good!)...Then, at about 03.00, I realized I had lost my glasses. I turned out my uncle had taken them with him by accident, so I had to drive my cousins home in the middle of the night wearing my sunglasses. I must have looked like a lunatic on the road...
Yesterday I went to the beach with a friend and her HB. only the second time this year that I have had time for it, and it has been SO hot the last few days, too (37 C, 0 C is 32 F I think, not sure anyway, VERY HOT!), then I did the apptment, YUK!
Have vowed to stay op and go to the gym this week....

See ya'll around,

PS I have also been missing Pryia...where are you?

06-24-2002, 01:26 PM
Hi all.

Boy everyone must be busy - not many messages. Yesterday was my super low day on the wendie plan - went fine. Hope I can make up for how much I ate on Saturday.

Greek - Yeah for staying pretty well op at the party - definitely an accomplishment.:) ~ Oh no on the glasses - don't you hate that? ~ Beach sounds fun!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to stop in and post. I'm doing bad on my eating but great on the exercise. My hips and butt are shrinking but my tummy is still happily bulging out. I did some clothes shopping this weekend and all the size 12's I tried on fit me!! First time that's happened in awhile. But then I ruined that good moment by trying on a bathing suit. Oh well.... I leave Wednesday morning for almost two weeks and I won't be able to check in. I will miss everyone greatly and I hope to do well while I'm gone. DH said he'd go jogging with me in the mornings. We're going to Cleveland/Sandusky to visit our family. Work has been horrible lately so I can not wait to get away.

Good luck to everyone!!! Drink lots of water, get lots of exercise, and stay away from the sweets. :) Now if I can just do that!!

06-24-2002, 09:54 PM
I rue the day I started liking chocolate. When I was a kid, I could barely tolerate it, and now ever since my first pregnancy, I can't get enough of it. I've done real well since January, but there are times that if I had an entire pan of brownies infront of me I would eat it. Today is one of those days. I think the problem is that I am out of my chocolate icecream. I need to get more before I eat a pan of brownies.

Anyway, now that dh has a car, we put my van in. Once it is out, I will have a great set of wheels, with ac and stereo. It will be fun.

Liz - Congrats on the size 12's, now we can race for the 3's and the falling off clothes!!! I am with you on the tummy, but mine is thanks to having 4 kids. On the swimsuit issue, I am going to make myself a halter dress and a seperate bottom to use as a swimsuit, I don't know that I will ever go back to wearing real swimsuits.

Rabbit- The super high day sounds scarry. But I think that after I have a small period of mildly eating more than I should, and then go back to what I normally eat, that I loose weight faster.

RR - How's the room going? Maybe you could take pictures and show us what you've done.

Hey everyone! I am still alive and kicking just incredibly busy. I thought I better check in or you would be sending out the search party.
I keep thinking things are going to calm down and give me a minute to breathe but so far it is not happening.

I was down .6 last week but DH was up 3.6. We both really struggled the week we got back here after vacation. We have been doing much better this week.

Gotta run but HI to eveyone.

06-25-2002, 04:57 AM
hi again, this is going to be a short one (lots of work today)

backfor, nice to see you again!
Lizzard, have a nice time and see you soon!
Rabbit, I do yee kinda OK without the glasses, but it was 03.00, dark, and I had had some of that wine...I was glad nobody knew who I was anyway, that crazy woman wearing sungl;asses in the middle of the night
went to the gym yesterday for 2 1/2 hrs, as if I hadn't sweated enough for the day, stayed op YEAH! Every day I stay op is a winner!

Lyss, try eating the darkest darkest chocolate you can find (70-75% pure chocolate)
1. It doesn't have so much fat as milk chocolate
2. It doesn't have much sugar either
3. It has such a rich chocolaty taste that you'll feel you've had enough after just a bit

Have to go now, Be well,

06-25-2002, 01:01 PM

I'm still following the wendie plan and sticking pretty close to the points - I've been 1/2 point off for the last 2 days. I kind of like having an exact pt value I can have for the day & I also like the fact that it changes.

Liz - Have a great vacation & enjoy the time with family! We'll miss you! Good luck staying on plan. ~ also horray for the 12's!:D

Lyssa - I have always liked chocolate. Although I think I am drawn to sweets more than I was in the past. ~ I sure hope switching my points around helps.

Back02 - Congrats on your loss this week. It is hard to get back on track after being gone - glad to hear you've accomplished that. ~ hope work slows down some.

Greek - yeah for an op day!!:)

06-25-2002, 01:15 PM
Hello All,

It's been really hot and muggy here too. I'm still questioning my sanity in giving up an a/c office job to stand out in the sun all summer :o , but I'm actually enjoying it lots more (even with the sweat  ) . This weekend we had a baby shower for my sister, my mom was going to hire a caterer (sp?) but I said since I wasn't working full time, I'd do it for her. I have now found another career to check off my list  . Cooking for 40 was not for me. Anyway, it went really well, except that the hall didn't have a/c so a bunch of people were whining. But, that's how it goes some times. I'm glad it's over though. Now I have to finish the baby's quilt. As usual I ended up putting it off 'til the day before, only the day before I had to cook , so she got a mostly finished top.

WW is tonight, I feel thinner so hopefully the scales will agree, but we'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.

LBH - Congrats on getting to Curves even when you were tired. Good luck on keeping it up.

RR - What no hockey decorations in NO. I can't believe it. Have fun fixing up the house.

Greek - Your weekend sounded fun. Too funny about the glasses.

Liz - Have fun on vacation, don't ride too many coasters while you're there (like there's such a thing :D)

Back - Congrats on your loss last week. Sometimes I think the week back from Vac can be harder than being gone.

Rabbit - Good luck sticking to the wendie plan. Hope you see the results you want.

Lyss - Hmmm another reason not to get PG. Good luck avoiding the cravings.

Well, gotta go pay bills and clean house.

Have a great week all!!!!

Nothing new happening for me really but I thought I'd check in and say hi. Still fighting the fight to stay below 150. I can't wait for the day when gaining a couple of pounds won't put me over so easily but slow and steady wins the race - right?? It was just about a year ago when I started coming here (I think) and I had just joined my gym and I'm pretty sure I weighed almost 30 pounds more than I do now so I have to be happy about that!!

Tech - maybe I missed it but what is your outside job - sounds pretty nice for a change actually. I always thought I might like to cater but I should also try it and I bet I'll change my mind too.

Rabbit - keep us posted on how the Wendie plan works for you. I've read a lot about it and I think it can be a great way to get out of a rut and to help deal with the days when you just want a lot of points. I like the fact that you can see if you have a special occasion one week and make that your super high point day. The logic, I suppose, is the same as banking for a speacial day but it still seems like a nice change. Good Luck!

GG - congrats on the gym and I liked your chocolate tip except that I really love milk chocolate!!

Lyssa - I can't remember there ever being a time when I didn't love chocolate! It can be such a curse but I'm certainly better than in the days when I would eat a chocolate bar every day. Now it's just such a treat.

Liz - wow on the size 12's - I can fit into a couple of size 12's I own but I just bought a dress and had to buy the 14 - felt a little bad about that but what can you do? Sometimes I wonder how much more I have to lose to never buy a 14 again!!

Bailey - saw you posted on the food journal thread - come over and say hi!!

Have a great day everyone,

06-25-2002, 05:46 PM
Hi everyone.

I'm home until July 16! Thats when I leave for Philly.

I'm really having a difficult time trying to get back on program. All that traveling really messed me up. I'm also off the Birth Control Pill and find that I've rediscovered 'hunger'. The Glocophase stuff (can't spell it still) really hasn't kicked in yet - oh it keeps me running to the bathroom every morning - but I haven't noticed if its doing anything else. I go back to the DR thursday - and I know the scale is going to show me up a few lbs again!!

I'm going to try and make tomorrow a water and fruit only day. Then the next day water and veggies only. Sometimes that gives me a good jump start....if I can stand it.

Well, It seems that I'm going to be able to stay op, even though I still add a glass of wine now and then.
I have dinner with my grandmother most of the time, who's 88 and still lives alone. I go there most evenings for a chat and some gossip (we live really close, on purpose), but she cooks light so that's no problem. Also need to take up my gym program seriously again, today is my favorite program (step).
Today again very hot!!!

gotta go, be well all!

06-26-2002, 06:39 AM
Good Morning!!!!!
It is soo nice to not be able to paint :D :D ..Leaving that all to Refman!!!!The room is comming along but slowly....remember she is autistic soo change is not a good thing all at once...Her bed disappeared first....then her book shelf...soo far..soo good...She hasnt exactly picked up on it yet!!!!:smug:
She lost her first tooth...Swallowed it!!!!It was too funny to see a hole there yesterday when I picked her up from daycare!!!!!

Camp called...I think Ms FrooFroo is having trouble "surviving" in the woods without that blow dryer and curling iron!!!! :s: :s: SHe will be too happy to be with Step mom when she gets home July 3rd!!!!!!!!!

Have a great one..Off to work!!!!

06-26-2002, 10:59 AM
Hi All,

RR- LOLOL, I can just picture her pouting about everything she doesn't like and not getting any sympathy!! Where is she at camp?

GG- That's great that you have such a close relationship with your Grandma. And that you can spend soo much time with her too!! Have fun at step...I've tried but seem to be too uncoordinated for more than just up and down!!

Jul- That's nice that you're home for awhile now...hopefully just enough time to get you back on track! Good luck with the water and fruit/veggies only thing!

Elisa- WOW, 30 lbs. in a year is great!! That's better than I've ever been able to do...so far!

Tech- Hope WI went well. I question your sanity leaving an A/C office too!! Although I complain about how cold it gets in here sometimes.

Rabbit- How do you like the wendie plan soo far? Is it stressing you out at all? Do you think you'll have a loss tomorrow night?

I started calling some places about child care yesterday, and while the prices are better than I thought they'd be, it's still a lot. KinderCare is 246/wk for infants and Kiddie Academy is 275/wk for infants. I assume it goes up when they get older because they both supply lunch and snacks for kids that eat table food. I was really impressed with the Kinder Care website. Check it out if you're interested, KinderCare (http://www.kindercare.com/summer_explorations_intro.php3) You can tour the facility, that's what I liked. Anyone know what the day care costs are in your area? I'd love to see the differences.

Anyway, off to get some work done...have a great day all!!

06-26-2002, 11:42 AM

Lots of posts today!:) I'm checking in early as I'm heading to a friend's pool today - woohoo!

Tech - glad you're enjoying the new job! ~ I don't think I'd like cooking for 40 either - too stressful - although I've thought about it also. ~ Cool about the baby quilt! I want to learn to do that! ~ Good luck at your weigh in. Wish me luck as well.

Elisa - WooHoo on the 30 pounds lost!

Jul - only fruit and only veggie days sound tough!:(

Greek - oh that is so awesome that you have such a great relationship with your Grandma!! ~ Hooray for staying op.

RR - neat that sd lost a tooth!:D

Lauren - no it is not stressing me at all to be on the wendie plan. I'm rather enjoying it. I am not showing a loss and I weigh tomorrow night - actually my scales show a gain - so we will see. 2 things could be a problem there - 1) I went way over on my super high day and I've not completely made up the points yet 2) AF is here. ~ so I won't give up on the plan yet. I think I'll try it for maybe a month, but if it keeps not looking like I'm gaining I may not do that super high day as is. ~ good luck with the child care - so expensive - I used to pay $40 - $50/week for ds!

gotta run.

Hello Everyone,

Don't have much time, need to go grocery shopping. Just wanted to say that WI was nice I was down 1.6 :D . Hope I can keep it up and be down again (two weeks in a row what a novelty).

I don't remember who asked but I'm working as a Historical Presenter at Greenfield Village. Which means I talk all day explaining what went on in the building when it was in actual use. Most of the buildings don't have a/c, and some days I'm outside working a train platform. It's fun and WAY different from automotive engineering which is what I was doing.

Talk to you later when I have more time.

Good Evening!!!

Tech-Congrats on the new job!!Sounds interesting..My mom in law is volunteering somewhere...Is that the same as Meadow Brook Hall????She volunteers at some big house over there and really enjoys it!!!

Lauren--WOW!!!!Daycare is soo expensive!!!!I am putting peanut in Kindercare and it is $125/week...It gets cheaper as they get older cuz it is less care...We pay $75/week now for care 6a-6p...WE are moving to Kindercare next year and for before and after school care...the vans to pick her up from school it is $65/week.....I will then get a discount for having 2 with kindercare...It was a great place when I interviewed them..Good luck!!!!
Thanks for the thread cleanup!!!!

Talk to all later!!!I have been hitting furniture stores for the last 4 hrs looking for furniture..Everyone said this weekend it will be on sale!!!!
Have a nice evening!!!!

06-27-2002, 01:21 AM
Lauren: I don't have any advice on childcare for infants. I worked until Alex (#2) was 4 mts old but I was a minister of youth so I had built in childcare during activities...otherwise I just took them to the church and Weston followed me around in a walker. I quit and have been home ever since (except for running our business). I did put Weston in preschool at 4 but it was only $40 a week for 3 3hour days. I started Alex in it at 4 but it went up to $50 and I didn't like the program or new director and pulled him out after 3 weeks. Good luck finding dependable, safe, childcare.

I totally forgot that I was going to do water and fruit today - oops! Maybe I can try it tomorrow. I do have a DR apt at 9 a.m. and I know I'll show a bit of gain. Even though my DH made me feel better tonight because he asked me if I'd lost a bit more weight (it was hard to tell him that I'd actually gained).

I'm going to look up what a diabetic diet should be...people with PCOS tend to end up with that so I'm thinking I should go ahead and start following the diet plans. - jul

06-27-2002, 06:57 AM
Sigh, I just tried to send you my (page long) news of the day, and in sending it it got lost...
Anyway here goes again,

I went to the gym like a good little girl last night to my favorite step class, only I forgot that I had just eaten dinner (spinach and beans) at grandmaw's (very nice and very very light in cals, so I ate a lot of it), and had a lot of trouble doing the class. I sat it out, but felt really queasy afterwards. i then had to do the ironing which i hate (but I like the results) but forgot half so I have to do the rest tonight. BF is leaving with his team to the netherlands and aftrewards to Dublin for games (fieldhockey), so everything needs to be ok with his stuff.

RR, good luck with the redec, it's always very exiting to change things for someone who's autistic, but I'm sure she'll love it!

Tech, congrats about the loss! Very good!

Rabbit, What's the Wendie plan? Smt like WW?

About diabetic diets, the only thing i have read so far is that there is no such such thing as THE Diet for diabetics. Everyone recommends something else, but the main idea is to keep bloodsugar levels stable, which is also a big issue with insuline-resistance. It usually means you have to eat a lot of small meals a day (total "meals" and "mealettes" of about 5-6). There are a lot of sites on the subject,:
www.diabetes.org, American Diabetis Association

www.worldwiderecipes.com, has links to diabetes recipes and lots more

These recipes mostly also fit into everybody's diets here, and they're tasty (I tried some), so we can all use them, especially really good for those of us who suffer from PCOS

Good luck, let us know what you think of it,

see y'all around,

Hi All,

I am craving Mac & Cheese. And it has to be homemade, not store bought. I have like 4 boxes of store bought in my pantry, but it's not very appealing. I was looking for my WW magazine with the Mac & Cheese on the cover, but I can't find it. At least I think it's on the cover?? Anyone have the recipe, or any homemade mac and cheese recipe?? :D

GG- Please tell about your spinach and beans. I'm always trying to try and like new things, and those are two things that I'm still working on.

Jul- I was going to offer to send you some stuff, as my mom's a certified diabetes educator, she has a lot of materials at her office, but it looks like GG got you covered! The more I think about the child care, the more stressed I get. I thought at first that I'd like to find someone that does it in their home, thinking that would be better. But then I thought, I couldn't trust a stranger that did that, only if it was someone I knew, or a friend of a friend. I'd rather go to a place like Kinder Care that has state regulations they have to adhere to, and are subject to inspections, ya' know? I'd trust them more than a "mom and pop" day care center also. I think I am seriously going to look into working for them also.

RR- Oh, I thought it would go up as they get older, because they supply meals and snacks! Hmm... That's a huge difference...guess it just goes to show how ridiculous cost of living is around here!!

Tech- Congrats on the loss!

Rabbit- Good luck tonight!!

Have a great evening all!

06-28-2002, 06:43 AM
LBH, here's your Mac & cheese recipe (Healthy version), can't remember where I downloaded it but I have a huge collection so ask away. I'll ask my gran the exact recipe for the spinach-beans thing, it really IS good!

Classic Mac 'n Cheese with a Twist
Serves 6
1 pound Elbow Macaroni, Rotini, or other medium pasta shape 2 tbsp. margarine 6 tbsp. all-purpose flour 2 cups milk 1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar cheese 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper 1 tsp. salt 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese Each Serving Provides:

Prepare pasta according to package directions; drain and rinse under cold water and set aside. Preheat oven to 375. In a medium saucepan, melt margarine over low heat. hope you like it!

BF is leaving on Monday, so we've got lots of preparations to do, have a nice weekend and look after yourselves!

Hi All,

Thanks GG!!!! I found a recipe on allrecipes.com that I made. It wasn't necessarily light, but I didn't figure out points. It was OK, but not quite the texture I was looking for. It had sour cream in it which gave it a nice little tangyness. It wasn't creamy though. I'm going to try this one though, and see if it's better!!

06-28-2002, 12:42 PM
Just a little note: When I went shopping last week, I bought 3 pairs of jeans. Size 14 to be safe, size 12 because I thought that was the size I would wear, and size 10 for wishful thinking. Well, the other day I got brave and decided to try the 10's, and they fit. I was so shocked. I could even zip them up with out laying down. Back in January, I couldn't do that with size 16's. Needless to say, I am not going back to wearing the 12's, I am going to go buy more size 10's!!! And the scales are now at 150, for several days, so now I am ready to break 150, and see the 140's!!! :)

06-28-2002, 01:13 PM

Well I had a small loss - 1/4 lb - for my first week at the wendie plan. I was showing a gain up until Wednesday afternoon & then suddenly it was gone - so I thought I'd have a bigger loss maybe, but no such luck. I'm going to keep doing it - AND this time not go 10 pts over on my SHD!

Tech - hooray for your loss!:D ~ Your job sounds fun.

Jul - Following a diabetic plan would probably be good for you - I'm impressed you'd be willing to do it without needing too! Hooray for you!

Greek - the wendie plan is basically a ww plan - you just vary the amount of points you have day to day.

Lauren - glad you got your mac & cheese!

Lysa - Yeah for your size 10's!:) ~ And good luck on getting to the 140's!

have a great weekend everyone.

06-29-2002, 03:49 PM
hi all - just updating my journal - couldn't believe nobody has been at the site since I was here yesterday morning.:( Everyone must be busy!

have a great weekend.

06-29-2002, 04:13 PM
Hi! Rabbit I have a good excuse for not being around yesterday - a temp of 102 and a body so sore that no one could touch me.
I'm much better today - still sore, but no fever.

My Dr visit was a suprise I was down 1 lb. Not great for a month, but she thought it was great considering all the traveling we've done over the last month. She is moving me up to 1000 mg. of the gloco stuff (one with breakfast and one with dinner).

Greek: thanks for all those links. I just remember when I was little and we had several friends who were diebetic and they had such strick diets to follow and a long list of things not to eat. I'm glad to see its a little easier to follow these days. I did find www.soulsisters.com that is a great site for PCOS. They have a discussion board too.

I'm off to follow some of those links that Greek posted!
