Hi all. I had a good weekend and stayed OP the whole time.
Dee you must look after yourself. Take care.
Lily save your pennies and anyone else too and come on up here and we'll cruise to alaska together. One thing I noticed was that alot of 'groups' were sailing and it makes for alot more fun. We all did our own thing mostly during the day except if we all wanted to do the same thing and met up for dinner. Whenever you went to hot tub there was usually someone you know in the tub or walking by. It really was great. I intend to be alot slimmer tho' on my next trip. Again tho' there were all sizes and ages on the boat. I thought I would feel very embarrased but not so. People were there to enjoy themselves. We have a beautiful sunny and cool day. It was frosty this morning but all melted now. these are the kind of days that fool you into thinking Spring is just around the corner. I want so badly to go out and work in the garden but every year I start too early and end un losing alot of stuff so I am trying to be patient this year. I have been walking on the treadmill everyday and last night we went for a walk along the river before meeting the kids for dinner. It was my new DIL birthday and we went for Scheuswan. It was yummy but I counted it and stayed OP. Today I have to babysit as all the kids are off to the Elton John concert. Jordan is getting so cute now as she responds to us. Everytime I pretend to sneeze it cracks her up for some reason.
Have a great OP day all......donna

Well today is a new day - back in the groove after a very bad weekend. At least it is sunny and was able to go out for a walk. Your cottage cheese sounds good Geri. I think I will have to make it tomorrow. My friend brought over a wreath I have to make for her kitchen. That will keep my hands away from my mouth for awhile. I am going to the mall tonite to walk with some friends.

Geri - Ah, I know the feeling well! I think with these "legal" gains, you just have to realize how much your body weight fluctuates from day to day. It is just fluid retention and will come off. The way to look at it realistically is how much you have lost in the last 4 weeks. Week to week can be a real bummer.

Donna - Your trip just sounded wonderful! Now back to the "real world" huh? You sound refreshed and rejuvenated, though.

Dee - This too shall pass. Things will get better. But I am so happy to hear that your DH is staying home with you. Is your daughter getting therapy in the hospital? Maybe she has formed an attachment with her therapist. It isn't easy to get out of our little safe "ruts" is it, even for us. Personally, I want to decorate my rut, hang pictures, etc. So I understand your dd.

Slavika - I made the best cheesecake over the weekend, but don't know how to do the points. When I figure that out, I will post the receipe. By the way, the snake sounds like another idea I want to save for my granddaughter.

I had my two grandsons over the weekend. I don't get enough of them because my son only has them 4 days a month. They get to see each other only 4 days a month. I had them while Joel studied for the bar exam. We had so much fun, but I did nothing over the weekend, like laundry. But it was worth it! I envy you who babysit your babies. I know you get tired, but it would be so much better than these "catch as catch can" visits.

Marsha: Good for you get back on plan!

Donna: Jordan sounds cute! Must be getting big by now. I want spring to come to. Im sick of the cold, tho it is warming up here a little now.

Slavika: Send excitement my way to! I could use some!

Glenda: Sounds like you had a fun weekend with your grandsons.
Love Cheesecake! Cant wait to see the recipe!

Painter: What kind of wreath? Sould keep you busy. Have fun on the walk!

Geri
01-23-2001, 04:53 AM
Glenda glad you had time with your grandsons. The laundry won't go anywhere---I promise----it will be there when you get back to it :) It was much more important to spend time with the kids. I do enjoy keeping that baby. She is so cute now. And because I am at her house and am not cleaning it (I told her mother that I would watch her baby but would not clean her house)I have lots of time to play with her. I am enjoying her more than I did my own.

I think I figured out part of my weight gain problem. I took a "stupid" pill last week. I bought a big jar of those thick pretzel sticks at Costco and misfigured the points. I figured a serving at 1 points and it is actually 2. And Friday night I ate 3 servings for 6 points rather than the 3 I recorded. The 3 points wasn't the issue, but all that salt was. At least that is what I am telling myself. I am having to keep myself off the scales this week. It will be hard to do, but I don't want to be disappointed. I thought I better wait for my regular day, because if that weight doesn't come off fast, it will disappoint me. Right now I am too vulnerable to risk being disappointed again on the scale.

Margot, congrats on the "big britches". Doesn't it feel good. At the rate you are going, it won't be long before a 14 is big. If you don't mind tell me, what size were you when you started?

Dee, So glad that your DD will be home soon. That has got to be hard to see your child suffering so. So glad your DH is getting to stay home. You need each other now.

I am not sure if it is Painter or Marsha, but whichever one it is, post the recipe and we will help you figure the points. Karen is very good about that.

HI Everybody Ok, are you ready for my BIG EXCITING day. Yeh right. LOL
I decided to make Trudy's "Cranbery Raisin Bread" today. I got all the ingredients measured and into the baking pan and turned the bread maker on, programed it.....and there laying on my kitchen counter was the mixing paddle that fits into the baking pan. GRRRR.
Well that "lot" went into the garbage and I started all over again. The good thing was the bread turned out really nice....the bad thing was I ate too much of it. :(
Donna good for you for staying OP. I find weekends the hardest. Painter it's a good thing that there is always a tomorrow and we get a chance to start fresh again. :) Glenda I think we have to have that Cheesecake recipe. I had both of the grandchildren over for about an hour today before their Daddy picked them up. I had a couple of sets of chopsticks which I gave to them with a bowl of mini marshmallows. You guys with young grandchildren must try that. I used eyeliner pencil to make the "Princess" look like a lovely little Chinese girl. They said that was the best after school treat they ever had. LOL ALAS LILY there was not much excitement to share. Geri the results will be much better next time at the scales, and Margot congrats on the baggy 18's. Gosh that was a happy time for me when people would say I think you need to buy smaller pants, when for years it seemed everytime you went shopping you had to buy bigger sizes. Lela yes, that's the magazine the "snake craft" was in.
Trudy see you tomorrow at WW and then for Tea Time, Dee will I see you too? night all. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

man what a night!
Boy did I fill Slavika's ear.
I am all wound up.
You wanted excitement. I got excitement!
Went to the hospital tonight to visit DD.Well let me tell you there was a kid that lit a kitchen fire with toilet paper on the stove elements laughing all the time. Then a little while later he went and choked one of the kids and wouldn't let go. Laughing all the time.... The nurses didn't catch that. A kid had to stop him. Lock-up in the quiet room for him.
Oh yeah did I tell you that when we first got there the nurses said that we could find dd in her room. Well she wasn't there. We all started to look for her... She was no where to be found on the lock up ward. Her nurse and I went back to look in her room and she was in a tiny cabinet. Crying :( She wouldn't come out. Man... After a while she told me she was in trouble for touching the other kids. Just by patting them and listening to them and too much eye contact. They acused her of resting her head on one guys shoulder. They have a camera that picked it up except it only looked that way. She was actually looking at the guy. You would need to know her. She doesn't like guys. She isn't into dating. She said to the nurses that she is a virgin and what did they think that she was going to f--- the guy. Oh she was mad. Which is something she seldom gets. They locked the guy up in the rubber room. Now they only have 2 rooms like that and the guy that started the fire was in the other. They were going to put dd in the other one if one was available.I guess her turn is coming. She is not very forgiving at this point! Gee I am sure more happenned but I can't remember except the whole time dh kept saying lets go home now. He doesn't like confrontation. What a night. I could have done with out the excitement.

Geri: That salt will do it every time! Good that you found out what it was!

Karen: Oh no! Computers can be such a pain. Hope you get it up and running! Email me if you need something.

Slavika: Cranberry bread, sound yummy! Least you got a new batch made. Bad you ate to much. Did you save some for Tea time?

Dee: Oh man that doesnt sound good at all. Does you DD get to come home? You said she might soon. Is this going to hurt her chances. Sure hope not. Hang in there. And keep us posted.

Glenda: I also have MasterCook and can figure out the points if Lela doesnt have time so post the recipe!

Dee - Don't know what to say, but it certainly seems you had way too much excitement for you last night.

None of us really know your situation, but this place sounds like your dd is out of place. ???? The one that was starting the fire sounds extremely disturbed. And put in a padded room for talking to kids?

Just so very glad your DH was there with you. Teenage years! Would any of us want to be back there again? I think not. My advice is to just love her and believe in her.

Geri, Lily, Slavika (thanks for another idea), Lela, etc. - Always glad to hear from you. Glenda

Dee it sounds like you had quite a nite. Give your dd a big hug. I had my drivers license renewed today - I sure hope I don't really look like that picture. Cranberry bread sounds good. And so does that cheesecake. Lost one the 3 pounds that I gained over the past week. Must be all that walking. Bye for now.

What a night! I have a discharge meeting with the dr tomorrow at 1:00. We will see if we can take the little dolly home. She really doesn't want to come home considering that she doesn't like it there! Honest we aren't that bad of parents.
Well I didn't go to the ww. meeting. But I won't miss tea with Trudy and Slavika. I think that I need their company. I haven't been to tea with them since before christmas. I really do enjoy our tea time. We have so many laughs. Good medicine.

Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon all....Oh Dee you and your daughter need a big hug! Wish I could deliver it in person. What can I say except 'hang in there , There's always another day'.

Good for you Painter - pretty soon the rest of the weight will be off too.

Lily I thought it was always nice and warm in California. today is another beautiful but cool day. I just love it but am dying to work in the garden.

That's right Glenda, the laudry is always there. the kids are so much more fun to play with and cuddle.

Karen are you sure that was the sound of your computer crashing and not 'your' reaction to it. (lol) I definitely would not be happy if I crashed the computer.

Slavika I find every day hard and with all the baking you do I don't know how you keep your weight steady. That is my real goal - to be able to cook for everyone else and not gobble it myself.

Hi to everybody....have a good OP day....donna

G'day all,

Here we go again another HOT day, we have now had 3 weeks of temperatures over 35C every day, some days it has been as high as 44C :(. Still little relief in sight and as far as the wet stuff, we have had one decent shower of rain in 3 months.
Enough of me moaning about the weather, it MUST change soon surely.
Dee what can I say other than what is a little hot weather if you have no other
problems? Hang in there it must be an extemely draining situation. I think you are wise having your tea times with Trudy and Slavika, they sound like a lot of fun.
The heat has gone to my head, cannot think of what else everyone posted  other than Geri you are continueing to do well with your weight loss, I was down another .7 yesterday :) Very slow but I am hanging in there. Journaling is definetly the key. I made a risotto yesterday and guessed :o the points. Later it got the better of me and I worked it out properly and found it to be 8 1/2 points instead of the 5 points I had allowed
Have a great day all
Cheers

Hi everybody Congrats to you Painter on your weight loss. :) Do you have a bread machine?
Donna LOL SOMETIMES I GOBBLE TOO :D
Lily yes I saved some bread for tea time and ate most of it myself. BROTHER.
Maria that's what I do too, eat something THEN look up the points. I'm usually wrong. :(
Of course it was WW day and then the gals here for tea. One tea time gal bought beautiful little colored bottles and decorated them with pearls, butterflies, and flowers and put bath crystals into them and gave each of us one for a lovely gift. My bottle is a very vibrant blue with lavender smelling bath crystals in it. I love lavender. I never even knew she was so "crafty". :)
Ok, thought I would spend a bit of time watching TV. I have never seen the show "The Mole" and a friend phoned to remind me about it so I taped it and now I will watch it. Night everybody. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

Hi everybody :D... I have not been posting but I have been reading faithfully..LOL
It is nice to hear from Donna..we missed you. It sounds like a lovely time was had on your cruise. We have tentative plans of going on the Alaska cruise too... :D
Maria is still suffering in the heat. Our weather has been positively balmy in January. We have had hoar frost a few times, and that makes the city look like a Winter Wonderland..winter can be really nice :).
Slavika is still baking and hosting fun Tea Times. We had a nice one today, and my colored bottle of bath crystals is green and looks great in the bathroom...love it :D. Dee what color did you get?
Nice to hear a lot of you are dropping some unwanted lbs....I am not among you. I seem to be stuck where I am.
Lily I read in the paper today where Canada will be sending some hydro power to California, maybe we can help..LOL..can't have you sitting in the dark all the time.
Glenda where is the cheescake recipe, I have been tuning in every day looking for it.
Margot is doing awesome as usual, how wonderful to have slacks that are TOO BIG.
Karen is having computer crashes, just like me...and always when I am ready to print something off.
Getting to know Painter :) and Geri is right OP. Josie what have you been up to?

I hope you all had a great day OP and will have another one tomorrow...I will look in..Good Night y'all... http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//sleep.gif

Hi Everyone,
Trudy: I'm here. :o I've also been reading daily, just being too lazy to post, I guess. I spent the weekend watching the news. I'm so interested in our new president!
I'd also like to see that cheesecake recipe, Glenda. Maybe if I make and eat some low-fat cheesecake I'll magically lose a few pounds. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif That's a theory for you!!
I have to confess.... I did not get to WW last week as I said I would. I had to keep Cole on the Friday I planned to go, but I have a feeling I would have found some excuse. I just plain don't want to get with it! This always happens. I seem to have to "think about it" for a month before I commit. Please be patient with me. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//umm.gif I am rooting for all you faithful losers. Keep up the good work! You do inspire me!
Karen: Hope the 'puter gets up and running soon. This has surely become a necessity of life, hasn't it?
Dee: Did you make tea time at Slavika's today? Hope so. Sure hope things settle down with DD soon.
Slavika: The little gifts sound really neat. I'd just love to attend one of your tea times! When I'm in your neighborhood, I'll let you know, ok? ;)
Painter: I don't think I've posted since you joined us. Just want to say a big WELCOME to you!!
Maria: Y'all are still suffering with the heat, while I sit at my pc with the central heat on and wrapped in a blanket. I have been soooo cold lately. Let's hang in there. We'll trade seasons soon!
HI DONNA. Good to see you again! I'm sure your garden will be glad to "see" you when the weather is better. You do love your yard work!!!
Lily: I see Sacramento is still in the news with the power problems. How are you being affected by it? Sounds like Y2K a year late! Hope our Canadians can share some power with California.
Geri: The "Texas 7" are finally being rounded up. Hope they catch the other 2 soon. Don't get discouraged about the low loss. You know if you are OP you will lose!!! Hang in there, kiddo!! :)
Hello to everyone I missed!
Well, I'm going to head to bed. (Say that out loud -- http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif )

Well, WI was not great. Up again - .4 this time. I think I better try for another "perfect" week. I really like the new 12-week journals, since the individual ones were always getting lost. Now, I can look back three weeks and do the same thing again and hope for another GOOD loss next week. I see that the secret for me seems to be low points EVERY day and NO sugar. I'm still committed to the 30-lb challenge, but I need a big week to stay on track.

DEE - So sorry your troubles are continuing. Surely your daughter will improve once she is actually home. That hospital sounds like a bad environment. I'm glad your husband stayed home and that you were able to get to tea with Slavika and Trudy. Those tea parties sound wonderful.

MARIA - Too bad about your heat and drought. In six months I'll be complaining about the heat here, but right now I'm so tired of this cold. I got my gas bill last week for the month of December (when I wasn't even home for ten days) and was shocked at how high it was - more than double the most I've ever paid before. Then a couple of days ago I got a letter from Entex warning that January's rates would be 50% higher than December's! Now, I hesitate to turn the furnace up above 60 degrees F because I don't want a $200 gas bill. So I wear a lot of sweaters and keep the cat on my lap all the time - she loves that and we keep each other warm.

JOSIE, I know what you mean about having to be in the right frame of mind to get started on something that involves a big commitment like WW. I find that if you do something like think about it for a while, then visualize yourself going to the meeting, and decide what you're going to wear, and even put the money in a special envelope, you'll be ready. BTW, in case you haven't heard yet, the last of the Texas 7 surrendered last night.

Well, ladies, got to go now. Breakfast is waiting. Oatmeal is going to be nice and warm this morning. Have great day!

Tea time was great a slavika's. We always have so much fun. My bath salt jar was a brilliant blue green with a pink butterfly. It salts smell like coconut. It will bring back vacation memories everytime I use it.

Well today is suppose to be the big day. We are meeting with dd dr for discharge. Hope everything goes as planned. She still says that she isn't ready to come home. I think that she is really worried about going back to school and the kids. http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//nervous.gif

Hi to everyone- A nice sunny day here. Outside walking today. My dog loves these walks - now he thinks anytime someone is going out the front door that he gets to go too. Mareed I hear you on the heating bills - we try to conserve and keep ours set at 62. Lots of sweaters. I made the angel food cake with lite cherry pie filling. We like it better with the pineapple. I think that when you girls have tea you should tell us and we can have a cup and pretend that we are joining you. Lost another pound yesterday. I hope that it stays gone forever. Be happy, Peggy

Painter: Good for you get 1# pound. The rest will follow!

Donna: No not in Nothern Calif its not always warm. We do get to the 30's in the winter. Doesnt snow cept the Mountains but it does get nippy.

Maria: .7 is good. Its .7 thats gone and thats what counts!

Slavika: Those bottles sound so pretty! What a nice gift

Trudy: Yeah I read that to. You came to our rescue! For a minute anyway. We havent had any more Black outs but they say it might happen again today.

Glenda: Thanks for posting the Cheesecake recipe I will try and figure it out tonight when I get home. Everyone else it is on the recipe page.

Josie: We have only had one Blackout at home last week so far. They do choose a different area everytime they do the Rolling Blackouts so its not as bad as it seems.

Dee does that mean your daughter is now home?? I am pleased to see you are so happy :)

I also am still very comitted to loosing the 30 pound but would love to see a bit of boost to my target next week.
DH is home from his business trip and this morning we went for an early morning swim seeing it is still soooooo hot.
The forecast is for storms tonight and RAIN :) :) We have had this forecast before and nothing has happened so I won't be holding my breath, I'll just hope ;)
Tonight a big tennis game in the Australian Open, Patrick Rafter v Andre Agassi, I naturally would like to see Patrick win :)but Andre is hard to beat and he is looking pretty sharp at the moment.
Have a great day all

Hi Everybody Had a great Wednesday with my friend then I had a doctor's appt. late in the afternoon. Last "Baba Day", on Friday, I lifted the "Princess" up and I guess I pulled the muscle by my left breast. Well that evening I'm on the computer and I have this pain on the left side of my chest, going sort of almost to the armpit and I'm thinking oh, oh, this can't be good. So I thought I should do "something". So I did what any self respecting woman my age would do and put on my best underwear and my prettiest housecoat and then sat back down at the computer. :D I went to "search" and keyed in "symptoms of a heart attack". In BIG LETTERS across the screen it says, "if you THINK you are having a heart attack get to the doctor." Well of course I KNEW I was not having a heart, attack but then I'm thinking I'm going away in a short while, I should see my doctor. So that is why I went there today. I said to my friend, "in my head I know I just pulled a muscle but I would still like him to listen to my heart and take my blood pressure but I don't want him to think I am a "NUT", so what should I say to him? So she said, "just ask him to check and see if your heart is still beating." LOL So that is exactly what I did. He said, it's a pulled pectoral muscle and my heart is beating just fine. :) :) He also said, if I was in the least bit worried about going to Hawaii he would go in my place and I could stay home. <IMG SRC="http://www.3fatchicks.com/ubb//lol.gif">
Josie if you happen to be anywhere near my home, tea time is every Tuesday at 2:30 until around 4:30. You could stay longer if you like. hee hee Painter Way to Go down 1#~~~~~~happy dance for you. Glenda I checked out your Cheesecake recipe and printed it off. Thank you for posting it. Speaking of recipes. A gal at WW told us about a recipe on the WW site. www.weightwatchers.com (http://www.weightwatchers.com) for Nut 'n' Fruit Breakfast Bites it's a no bake "bar" type recipe. I made it this morning before I left and is it ever good. 2 points per serving. Check it out. Maria you have it so hot and Marsha has it cold and we are freezing our tush's off, Lily is losing her "lights", I guess there is no pleasing us. LOL. Trudy how did your day trip go? I think I went over my points today so better do better tomorrow. Night all.

Well Slavika I'm glad that you didn't have a heart attack - but at least you looked good just in case. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I am subbing the canasta group tonite. There are always too many snacks. It's warming up here. Dee - hope everything is going well with you.

Hello all. I'm kind of cheating here. I feel I should start a new post but I won't remember anything from this one if I do so I am replying here.
Lily I went through No. Cal once and it was all desert. I went through from Oregon. Are you more east than that?
I don't know what every one's hydro bills are but mine includes for electricity and gas (which I just converted to two months before the big hikes) but my monthly bill (I'm on the equal payment plan) has climbed to $464.00 per month. I have a pool and a hot tub but I must be supporting our industry almost single handed. The situation is ridiculous but we are lucky to have power at all I guess.
I'm definitely not my best in high heat either Maria. Hope it cools down for you soon.
Hope you feel better soon Slavika - soooo glad it is not a heart attack. Your little princess is getting too heavy for you...
Hi Josie - glad to see you are here too.
A big hello to everyone else too. later all..donna
