Hey gang
It's a new day, a new week, and a new month and boy am I glad :p
May was a terrible month for me. My mom was in and out of the hospital and my schedule was busier than Christmas! needless to say my walking fell by the wayside. I'm gonna do my best to get back on track this month.
This morning I did 2 miles. I used the new "The Big Burn, 2 miles of Invervals" and I really liked it!
hope everybody has a great :running: day!
hugs,
cathy

I know what you mean about bad months! I've had 5 of them in a ROW!!! But I am now on summer vacation and I'm going to make it about getting myself healthy!
I had over 13000 pedometer steps today just with the things I had to do to get ready to check out tomorrow! This evening I had the house to myself and I chose to do a workout! I did the new Walk Off Even More Weight 2 mile Classic Walk plus the 5 minute energy boost! I wore the weighted belt for the classic walk, too. It was GREAT!!

Hi Kim K, thanks for the greeting. I have managed to walk 5 miles every day since May 1. I am hoping I can continue this for a long time, therefore you will probably get annoyed seeing my name with my daily check in.
Kim I have a question for you regarding walk away the pounds. Do you ever break a sweat with these dvds? I never really feel like my heart rate gets in the zone for this workout to be effective. I just keep thinking how can anyone lose any weight just by walking.
I have read my share of testimonials about how the program helps people lose weight but right now I just don't see how. Even though I don't feel like I am experiencing any radical changes (barely anything really.) The only thing I am seeing is that my blood pressure dropped. Normal is 120/80 or something like that. Mine was 117/78.

Hi harlow grey. :) 5 miles every day! Wow! I never did beyond 4 miles. I exercise(WATP) 5 days a week, 4 miles each time. I will never get sick of seeing your posts on here! It motivates me when other people are also checking in! As far as breaking a sweat, I break a little sweat around my hairline, but not much more than that. I know it's not the hardest cardio routine around, but it works for me! Since October 2008 I have been counting my calories(1300 a day and one day a week I don't count calories) and doing WATP and I lost 27 pounds. I'm proud of that, and I have to thank my personal trainer(Leslie!) in part for that. :D
P.S. My blood pressure went down too, and my blood work is much better since I started exercising and eating right. I am excited about those changes too!

Hi Kim. Congratulations on the weight loss. Plus it helps to be able to post to where you can read about actual people seeing results. I'm feeling encouraged about that.
Walking 4 miles is quite an accomplishment as well. You'll be hitting the 5 mile marker sooner than you think. I remember when Leslie first came out and I purchased her vhs tapes. I remember the 2 mile used to make me sweat and the very thought of doing the 3 mile made me want to chuck the tape in the garbage just to avoid it. It wasn't until I purchased either her first 4 mile video or 5 mile dvd that I decided to jump into the deep end of the pool (knowing darn well I can't swim.) I'm surprising myself every day. This coming from someone who needs to lose 100lbs and is kicking out these miles and could duck and dodge exercising activities with the best of them.
Keep up the good work Kim and to anyone else who is reading these posts!
My check in today: Super Fat Burning (3 miles) and High Calorie Burn (2 miles.)

Hi Ladies!
harlow grey: Way to go! Your 5 mile walks impress me!:carrot: WATP DVDs are the only ones that I have been able to do and stick to. Ones with dance moves are too hard for me, so Leslie's are perfect for me!
jellybellyjen: I've heard that a little wine is good for you, and I've never heard that about beer, so I'd go with wine. But try not to over-do it! :D You're doing so great with your exercises, keep up the good work!!! :cheer2: You're lucky that you have a husband who will walk/jog with you!

Hello everybody!
Jellybellyjen, I think it's great you and your husband are walking/jogging together.

Hello Everyone
I would love to join this group. I thought I could join an exercise bike riding group on another board, but couldnt due to bad knees. I tried to ride the bike and the pain was too bad. I have osteoarthirtis in both knees and have been in constent pain since July 2008. I was hardly able to do a complete rotation on the bike because of the pain.
I do have the the first WATP with the weighted balls, I feel I can do that even if its at a slower pace until I can build up strenght in the knees.
I would like to know have any of you seen nice weight loss by using the WATP series? I have over 100 pounds to lose so I feel with such a large amount this is a good starting point for exercise. Being that its not a lot of impact on the joints or jumpimg all over the place requiring a lot of cordination that I dont have. Just curious about actually helping with weight loss.
Thanks for listening/reading

CIRCLES: Hi! I'm so glad you joined our group!! :cheer2: WATP definitely worked for weight loss for me! With calorie counting and WATP as my only exercise, I lost 27 pounds since October! Even when I reach goal I will continue this exercise as my main exercise because it really worked for me. I can't do dance videos(I'm not that coordinated either!) or ones with a lot of jumping around, so WATP was just right! I'm glad you're giving it a chance to work for you too! There's quite a few ladies on 3FC that think highly of WATP. Let us know about your progress! :)
Daimere: Hi! :) Let us know how your new DVD goes!
harlow grey: Yeah on the sweat! :carrot: There are some times when I sweat more than others when I do the same exercise. I don't know why!

Hi Daimere. I couldn't agree with you more regarding the music. I can only do the workout by listening to other music or by watching a television show. But WATP is the easiest exercise to do on a consistent basis.
Circles, welcome! Glad you found this thread. It's gonna be great to hear from another fellow walker. Like you I am also trying to have a 100lb weight loss. We can do this! You are going to do so awesome and I look forward to reading your posts. Also good job on completing your 1 mile!

Hi Harlow
Thanks for the welcome and the congrats on the 1 mile. You are doing great completing 4 miles. That’s very good exercise can be hard when you have a bit of weight to lose, or should I say it is for me. I hope I am able to get there one day soon. Do you have knee trouble? That is the biggest thing holding me back.
I printed out a full body seated exercise routine. I going to incorporate that with the WATP. It may help with building a little muscle because you use different equipment for strength. I chose seated because standing bothers my knees a lot. it's the link below if interested.
Let's keep each other motivated through the journey we have ahead of us. Having someone else with 100 or more pounds to lose helps you feel you are not alone.

Hi! I'm new to this thread, and I'm going to try to post as often as possible.
I am a HUGE Leslie Sansone fan! I own dozens of her videos. Even though they are all basically the same, I love having variety in terms of music, setting, walk crew, etc.
This has been a totally OFF weekend for me! :nono:I gained 2 pounds this week, but it's my own careless fault. Sometimes I feel like having those off days actually gets my butt back in gear because I'm ready to start eating healthy again :carrot::broc:. It's amazing what eating junk will do to your energy.
Tomorrow I think I'll do some walking on the treadmill :woops:. Later this week, I'll pop in a WATP video. :running:
By the way, to the poster that asked if walking is sufficient for weight loss a few posts back...YES! When I lost all my weight several years ago, I did it through walking and WATP videos. So, yes, it's possible!

Hi Cirlces! Thanks for posting that link. The chair moves look like they would be effective. I will have to check it out once I kick my current daily routines to the curb (WATP, Hip Hop Abs, and my everything but the sink videos that I have added to my workout plans.
Also, I don't have the strongest knees but they have been known to act up. When I started out working out longer and more consistently I did have aches and pains with my knees and lower back. However after several weeks it stopped. I have noticed when I start new routines my body tends to hurt until I get used to the workouts.

Hey walkers!
New to the board, but not new to walking. I've been walking off and on for a couple of years. Just scored my first WATP a couple of weeks ago. I'm up to 3 miles a day, and just added the ab belt and 2lb hand weights.
At this point in my life, loosing a ton of weight is not number 1 (been there done that many times). I just want to be as healthy as I can be, and move as much as I can. I do my best to follow the intuitive eating principles, eat only when I'm truly hungry, stop before I'm stuffed, and eat when I want. after much research on the diet industry (most of them treat the symptoms, not the real problem), and various diets, how counter productive dieting really is in the long run, and once i realized that food doesn't make me fat, OVER EATING makes me fat, I swore off diets forever. It was one of the best decision I ever made (besides taking up walking of course!), and I'll never go back to the miserable life of yo-yo dieting and weight loss/gain, and being a slave to the scale, and allowing that number to determine how I feel, and define who I am.
There are several WAPT forums out there, but this place is the only one that is really active. The other forums, if there's a post once a week, you're lucky. So I'd like to be a poster here, and keep track of my miles, and just be able to converse with others who love the WATP program!! Can I be a part of your group?
I see I'll have to get one of those cute tickers and mark off all the miles I've done in the last week.

Hello Ladies! I am new and looking for some support in weightloss. I want to start walking - I have 35lbs to lose, any suggestions on how far and how fast to begin? What are these DVD's you are talking about? Do you just walk around the living room while watching them?

Hey immelting! I'm new here too! :dizzy:
The video's are Walk Away The Pounds by Leslie Sansone. I got all mine from amazon. Check out the "used" ones, they are really cheap!
It consists of walking in place ( I usually pace back and forth) with various different moves like kicks and side steps. I never thought walking in place could be a work out. WRONG!!! LOL. Leslie will work you out and good! I love the video's and highly recommend them. If you go to her website, she has a free one mile streaming video there that you can check out. If you're a beginner walker, start with just one mile, and before you know it, you'll be walking 3 or 4 a day with Leslie!
I also do treadmill walking sometimes, and sometimes I just go for a walk outside. If you don't have one already, get yourself a pedometer to count your steps.

Welcome Bootscoot! I'm glad your joining the group. Today I felt the same way about getting up today, I almost lost the battle by not walking. Luckily I pushed myself anyway and completed my walk.
Hello Immelting and welcome. Bootscoot gave a pretty good explanation of what Walk Away the Pounds program is. Leslie Sansone's videos are the best. If you google her and visit her site, you will see she offers many types of workouts to fit your needs. In addition to Amazon (like Bootscoot suggested and is probably the cheapest place to buy them)you can get the from Walmart, Target,Barnes and Nobles, Collage Videos etc.
FYI to all, I don't know if it is just in my area but my free on demand channel is offering 3 of Leslie's workouts. If you are new to her system it is a good way to try before you buy or just to add some variation to your workouts.
I did the usual big 5--I managed to do the 5 Day Slim Down.
Get to steppin' ladies and keep it movin'!

I did two miles last night, I just wanted to ask you all when you first started working out did you have pain in your legs? Because I have had pain in my legs so bad I have almost not been able to sit down, because it hurts so bad. If you did have that problem, how did you get over the pain? or get the pain to go away? I was just wondering? I'm not just doing the walking either, because I am also doing the 30ds, and I think I am going to just go to walking and dancing for a little while, especially because I feel so sick right now, I think I have a upper respiratory infection. So I was just wondering what you all thought...??

I added another 2 mile--Walk Off Even More Weight Fast Walk with the weighted belt! Then I did 20 minutes on Wii Fit and set 2 personal bests!!

Well I ended up having to baby sit and didn't get to do the 5K :( . However, I did 3 miles with the walk band, then backed it up and did mile 3 twice, so that's 4 miles for me on saturday. Did just the 3 yesteday with 2lb hand weights. I ordered the 5 mile DVD that comes with the walk band, last week and hopefully that will be here today. My hamstrings are sore.

I've been out of town and got a little regular walking in but I'm just now getting back to my walking with Leslie ;-)
I did 2 miles this morning and used The Big Burn!
It's great to see so many people posting and Welcome to all the Newbies! Y'all are doing great with all that walking :cp:
Hope everybody has an awesome day!

I'm so excited! I just got a package from Leslie's store! I broke down and ordered her Burn Body Fat set (and saved $10) plus I got Walk Now, which is led by Brittany Ullrich and intended to motivate a new generation of walkers. It is supposed to be faster and "younger" music. The clip I saw made it look fun and it was on special to introduce it to Club members. Now to find the time to DO these new walks.....
Just came from 3 hours in the sun watching DD's softball team. In a little while, she has driver's ed driving and then she invited me to go with her to the Varsity softball game tonight. Maybe tomorrow.....
Today I did a 20 minute walk on the treadmill and then 25 minutes on Wii Fit. Don't think I'll have time for more and I'm not sure I want to shower again until I'm in for the night!

redheadedpixie Hi. I would recommend the '5 Mile Fat Burning Walk' because you can choose to do 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 miles. That would save you some money instead of buying DVDs for each length of miles. There are a lot of ways you can do this though, like buying a 2 mile and 3 mile DVD for some variety. Leslie has a lot of options, so I would go to Collage video and check out which ones look cool.
sharpie89 Hi. I never had leg pain when I started doing WATP DVDs, so I would recommend talking to a doctor to see what the problem might be. You want to be able to rule some problems out like blood clots and stuff like that. I hope that your respiratory infection goes away soon and that you are feeling better soon!!!

good morning gang
I did 2 miles this morning. I used the A Closer 2 Mile Walk.
Michelle - how did you save $10 on the Burn Body Fat set? I must have missed the sale while I was out of town. dang it! ;) I would love to hear what you think about Brittany's walk dvd when you get a chance to try it out, as I was thinking about getting that one too. It's a great deal at $8.46 for members, but as always, her shipping costs hikes up the price :(
Sharpie89 - the pain in your legs sound really bad but I was wondering do you happen to be using old tennis shoes? or maybe even shoes without the proper support for you. I can always tell when its time for a new pair of walking tennis shoes bec I start to feel it in my shines and calves, but your pain sounds much worse then that.
hope everybody has a great :running: day!

Cathy: In one of the newsletters members receive, there was a code to put in when you ordered online. It was valid through June 15 (which was the day I decided to order). I also got reminder emails to take advantage of this offer. I'm surprised you didn't if you're a member!
Haven't tried any of them yet. We went to the Varsity softball game last night and didn't get home until 10, at which time I CRASHED. DD is working today and after I run a couple of errands, I'm going to do one of them before I have to pick her up. Not sure which one, though. They all look GREAT!

06-23-2009, 01:51 PM
I've gotten all my WATP videos from amazon on the used rack, and haven't paid over $5 yet, and that includes shipping. I just got the 5-mile dvd yesterday and it came with 2 walk bands (yes! 2), and the total cost was $4.84 including shipping. And each one I've gotten has still been factory sealed, brand new. Since I discovered amazon used sellers, I rarely buy anything new anymore.
Michele L
06-23-2009, 07:22 PM
I got many of the older WATP's that I started with through amazon or ebay, but I love them so much that I want the new ones when they come out. I watch several sites and especially watch shipping costs, which can be the worst part of buying online. All in all, the 4 DVD's I got cost $33.69 including shipping. I had coupons totaling $20 off. Considering I had 6 pounds of hand weights in the package, I didn't think that was too bad!
Today I tried the 1 mile Burn Body Fat with 2 pound weights. I was going to do more, but we had a storm blow in. If it settles down, I may do more later this evening.
Michele L
06-23-2009, 10:21 PM
The storm passed, so I did Walk Now, with Brittany Ullrich, who I think is Leslie's niece. It is a fast-paced, upbeat 2 mile walk. Familiar music, but slightly faster pace throughout the entire walk. My heart rate was DEFINITELY going up, up, up! It was weird not walking to Leslie, but a couple of familiar faces are there--her niece Chrissy and her roommate, Christina. I can't remember for sure which walks they've been in before, but I know I have them! I think maybe the Walk Slim series. Anyway, this walk was FUN, but intense. Time passed by quickly and the cool-down with the live band at the end was kind of nice.

Wow I just found this thread and am so excited, I started doing the walk dvd's 4/5 weeks ago I do 4 mile walk slim, 4 fast miles, 4 mile challenge and 5 mile -? something don't remember now but it has boosted walked at the end of each mile.
Out of the past 35 days I have worked out with the dvd's 29 days I do work up a sweat and when I can exeragerate each movement the best I can and boy do I work up a sweat!
I have not lost much in weight (3lbs) though and that is what I wanted to ask all of you, are you seeing weight loss or only a better physcial health? Should I add hand weights? or ankle weights? would hat speed things up?
thanks

Michelle, that is an awesome deal to get 4 dvds for $33.69. I was anxious to hear about it. I may get it. I'm like you - I usually one the new ones as soon as they come out ;)
Kim - you are doing GREAT!!!
Welcome Nancy - I need to lose 20 lbs and no I'm not really losing any weight, but I'm not gaining which is a major accomplishment for me. I mainly see better physical health but there are people that lose weight doing Leslie's dvds. I'm just special that way ;)

I popped in my new 5 mile walk dvd last night. OH....MY....GRAVY!!
After 4 furious miles, I decided maybe I'm not quite ready for that one. There's no "warm up" for one thing. And it gets very fast, very quick. I think I'll go back to my "walk away the waistline 1, 2, and 3 miles" and just keep repeating mile 2, until I can build up more endurance. I was beat to death when I got done. :D

Nancy - You may be converting fat to muscle, and that will keep you from loosing pounds, you may even gain a few. The best (VERY best) proof is in your clothes. When I first started walking 2 years ago, I walked and ate like a bird for 3 months and never lost a pound, however, I lost 3 inches off my waist, and had some sexy calves :whoo: lemme tell ya! No matter for me, I still got discouraged because I was so obssessed with the number on the scale. I still get discouraged if I'm not careful. Because of this, I put my scale in the closet and go totally by what my clothes and the measuring tape tell me. the scale is a fickle enemy . Keep doing what you're doing!! As I told my dr. last week, "If i never loose another pound, I'll keep doing the WAPT because it helps my BP, my cholesterol, helps me fight disease, and trims my waist. It's a win win situation". He applauded me!
I just had another thought too about my not being able to handle the "rougher" walk the other day. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I'm thinking, I may never be able to build up to the more intense work outs. which means I'll have to keep restricting my cals as I get older. total bummer.

I wonder if that 3 mile is just as good as the 3 mile weight loss walk. I absolutely LOVE LOVE that one (esp. Mary Kay's mile). I would love to have something different to shake it up

bootscoot thank you thank you thank you
I needed to hear that from a long time walker.
I just received in the mail the adv 5 mile walk that used the band, weights and the waist thingy. I don't have the waist part so I used the band and it seemed to work fine. The workout for me was not as intense as the 5 mile burn but I still know I worked out :o
I was curious what other video's would you veterns recomend. I have 6 or 7 FIRM dvd and enjoy the weights, a few that use the tonning band but find them boring. I just ordered a used Jillian Micheals (?) 30 day shed? off of amazon and thought I would give it a try for variety.
oh oh hey, this weekend my DD and I are going to try to go to the local high school and see if we can really do a 12 min mile on the track just for the fun of it. I will keep you posted
If you want to try out Leslie's Start Walking, 1, 2 and 3 mile DVD's, you can try any of them for free at Exercise TV's website. Maybe you did not link to the right page to get to them if you only got the clips. I cannot post the link here, but after you type in exercisetv just put */startwalking* (no stars!). In the middle of the page there will be 4 video windows, one is an introduction and the other three are for each of the walks. You have to wait through an advertisement for it to load but then the whole thing plays. You also have to put up with advertising scrolling across the bottom as it plays, but it doesn't really interfere with doing the videos.
They do not use any boosters and Leslie is alone in each of them. I have not done the 1 mile, but the 2 mile is brisk and the 3 mile is faster still. It really gets your heart rate up. Even Leslie is breathing heavy in that one. It's a good cardio workout. I like the music, too.
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but I like Leslie, too and I wanted to share this info with any of you that might be interested. Happy walking!
