Hey all, how goes it? I just ate my organic oatmeal and drank my skim milk. Workout is upcoming in about 45 minutes. I learned something on Friday, workout out post-work is not good for me. Someone at work wanted to swap, so I went in at 9am. That said, I tried to do my workout after work and boy was I tired! Guess a full day's worth of work will do that to ya. :)

Well TOM weight gain just hit me like a ton of bricks. I usually only gain 1-1.5lbs, but this time I'm up 4.6lbs! I hate to use up a freebie this early in the game, but I just couldn't dump that on the team.

Good morning everyone!
A big thank you to you all as you saved me from myself last night! I had a staff meeting from 7-10pm and as I was heading home I really wanted to stop from some onion rings from A&W. It was a battle of wills and I finally told myself that tomorrow is weigh-in & I can't let my team down.
So a HUGE thank you to Team Red!
Have a great day all

Good morning! This is my first post as a member. I already posted my weigh-in. Due to a lot of stress in my life, I lost 3 lbs.--no exercise, no planned eating. I'm a tad worried that now that I've done the not eating thing, I'm going to start the eating too much thing. Guess I just need to make a conscious effort to find some moderation as I navigate through this week.

Good Morning Red Rockets.
I was down 3 pounds this week so I am so very happy. I seem to loose one week then the next week just loose 1 but I know in the end it all evens out. I did an ok job exercising last week but this week I am going to step it up just wish I had a little more time. I told my husband last night that he is going to have to help me with the kids more at night so I can exercise. Saturday I took them with me for a walk and it was funny because they all said Mom slow down at least twice and I did not think I was walking that fast. So tonight I am sure no one will join me. I have never worked out at a gym I use DVDs and hand weights now, I have some resistance bands and am thinking of getting a ball. My mom gave me a Shape magazine and it had some great exercises to do with a ball. so who knows. I have a Birthday goal of 208 that is 4 pounds in the next 13 days. So that is keeping me very motivated for now as well as this challenge because I do not want to let anyone down.
Hope everyone has a great on plan week!!!

Hi team, hope you are all well. Sorry, I have been missing in action lately - had some leave from work and took the opportunity to enjoy some unusually hot weather here in bonnie Scotland.
Cindy -thanks for thinking about me. I've been struggling lately with the weight loss efforts but will find my way back to it. Some time to chill out and reflect has helped. The walking challenge at work is going really well - we are well over half way to our target number of miles with 7 weeks remaining. If we continue the way we have been we will well blast our goal out the water.
Shari - thanks for the QOTD nomination! ;)
Ladies, here is your latest Question of the Day:
What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far? Or if you are just starting out on your weight loss journey, what benefits do you hope weight loss will bring?
My own answer: The biggest benefit has been to my self-belief and inner confidence in myself. I care so much more about myself than I did before and take time to really look after my appearance. I am much fitter than I was and have tons more energy. I can now shop for clothes in a wider range of stores, do not fear being unable to fasten my seatbelt on aeroplanes and do not feel as self-conscious going swimming etc. But, I still have a way to go and hopefully even more benefits will follow! :)
For next QOTD, I nominate Montecristo!

What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far?
My weight loss have given be confidence. I also feel much more in control of other areas of my life as well. I also have so much more energy than I did before, I sleep better at night and I don't get heartburn at all any more. I am very happy with the changes so far!

QOTD: what benefits has your weight loss brought you so far?
Increased confidence and increased energy both mentally & physically. This has resulted in the attitude of "yes I will" rather than "I think I can".

QOTD:
What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far? Or if you are just starting out on your weight loss journey, what benefits do you hope weight loss will bring?
i am starting my weight loss journey again after having regained over 80 pounds of weight i had lost on the weight watchers program about 2 years ago. it has been a struggle to get back into my daily ww routine after being sick/on many meds but i have joined this group in hopes of kicking it into high gear and doing my 100% to get us ladies a win.
ultimately i just want to get healthy again. having a better self confidence, and to be able to fit into amazing outfits instead of my typical jeans/skirt/tshirt/hoodie/cardigan get ups i have been using is also a plus!

Suzanne - Water aerobics sounds awesome, good luck and have fun!
Mae - Hi and welcome.
What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far? Or if you are just starting out on your weight loss journey, what benefits do you hope weight loss will bring?
Honestly, I can now tie my shoes without losing my breath.
Also, at my heaviest I was having very bad pains in my inner thighs that made sex painful. Those pains have went away.
It's nice to button my pants and not have the imprint of the waistline on my tummy.
That's all but looking forward for many more benefits.

QOTD: What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far? Or if you are just starting out on your weight loss journey, what benefits do you hope weight loss will bring?
I've been at my desired weight, and I've been heavier like I am now and there is a HUGE difference in how I'm treated at each end of the spectrum. A lot of people seem to assume I am less intelligent, less capable, lack self control and/or motivation in all areas, and then of course there's the whole "attractiveness" issue and feeling good about how I look, besides which there are MUCH better looking clothes in smaller sizes. Who is the sadist who thinks heavier women should wear these huge honkin' prints? And I know I feel better about myself and have a lot more energy. Just since I started doing the LAWL plan again on May 18th I've noticed that I'm less winded going up and down stairs. You wouldn't think 8+ pounds would make that big of a difference, but apparently it does!
Hello...finally...to all the new red team members and to all the returning members!! I can't believe how crazy it has been here...and my weight loss is suffering. I have been doing so poorly because of many issues, but mostly I think I have just let stress and time management derail me again. I need to sugar detox again...does this ever end?
I have 1 week until I fly to CA to drive my family back to PA for our visit. I have my house completely tore apart to 'toddler-proof' it, work is crazy busy, I just found out last week I will have to have surgery on the 26th and I finally adopted 2 kitties who I brought home today!! Can't imagine why I haven't exercised in 2 weeks...though I know that is no excuse!! I really need to prioritize myself but now I have gotten behind and can't seem to catch up. Okay...enough complaining.
On a happy note..I found 2 wonderful kitties at a local shelter. The funniest part is when I met them last week I thought one was a girl and one a boy(they were calling 'him' Sharkey). So, I decided to name 'him' Boris and pick them up today and for 2 hours I called 'him' Boris. Then I start reading the health records and I see 4 year old male Boris is actually 1 year old female 'Borisette'!!! So, I have 2 females, which is fine and they seem to love their new home. No name yet as I spent the whole weekend coming up with a boys name....
QOTD The benefits of the weight loss have been so amazing. I feel like a totally different person. I can move and do things without pain. No shortness of breath, no couch potato syndrome. I just love the way I feel and enjoy participating in life again!!! I have also learned to actually like some food that is good for me.

QOTD - I feel good na na na na na na na!!!
One of the biggest benefits for me it getting back to the great outdoors. I love to hike and with all that extra weight it wasn't possible. I feel good mentally and physically I am getting strong.
Yesterday when I went to get on the treadmill the belt wouldn't start, it just kept resetting. Mack was able to fix it when he got home so I'm back on it this AM. I did walk/jog for my hour but didn't do anything else when I got back.
I've got numbers ready to post and will do so after Dee does the Blue team stats. I am unable to make a "sticky" and I want to make sure it stays at the top.

QOTD - I feel so much better! I mean, there is nothing wrong with feeling like you are 40 if you are, but feeling 40 at 23 is just too much. My back pain almost completely disappeared, I can run without passing out after 3 seconds, and if I'm feeling a bit vulnerable, I can even hug my knees!
Also it is great to be able to just buy clothes. I'm sure you can identify with how miserable it can be to spend hours and hours trying on clothes and not being able to find a single thing that both fits and makes you happy. I totally do not want to have to deal with that ever again.

What benefits has your weight loss brought you so far? Or if you are just starting out on your weight loss journey, what benefits do you hope weight loss will bring?
I have had an increase in energy which has not only benifited me but my family as well. I have been able to increase levels of my exercise, actually do some real push ups, keep up with the jumping jacks all things that I could not even think about doing 11 weeks ago when I began my weightloss journey. I am eating healthier, have not gotten sick once and generally feel better all the time. Last night for the first time in my thighs i felt some muscle, now dont get me wrong i still have large thighs but hey it has been years since I have had any definition in any part of my body. I hope to continue to build muscle, loose weight and eat healthy.

Hello everyone! Heading out for my walk/run momentarily. Been having some upper leg pain as well as lower back pain. I think the back pain is due to TOM coming soon, but the legs I'm not sure what its from. Pushing through it all anyway. Going to be doing a Jillian and/or a Biggest Loser workout after my walk/run as well. I try to workout double on Tuesdays since I don't work till 5pm.

Well....... I love clothes now. I will never wear stretch knit, elastic waistband pants, ever again in my life. I am stronger than I ever gave myself credit for. I am flirty again, yes FLIRTY!! And it's fun. I Like what I see in the mirror, until I take my clothes off. There are so many benefits I can't name them all.
Now, if i could just make some progress on this last 45 pounds. That would make me a truly happy person.

Hi All,
Congrats to Collegemom for being Biggest Loser, also to our runnerups hungery4achange and Daimere.
QOTD: what benefits has your weight loss brought you so far?
I have a measurable benefit, about 4 months ago my dr told me that if my fasting blood surgar was over 120 the next time he tested me then he would diagnose me with diabetes, since I started working on my weight and diet my FBS has dropped to where it is around 105 when I check it every morning. I'm afraid that with my family history diabetes is probibly in my future, I just want it in the far future instead of the near future.
Today I bought some pepper plants for a mildly hot pepper and some more eggplant plants. I'm running out of room for them in my garden, I need to stay away from garden stores. But I do have some flower beds that are in need of plants, and I do want toplant some herbs, hmmmmm, so much for the salvias. I was rainy today so I didn't get much done outside, but the weeds are coming back so tomorrow I garden.
We were just watching 2 deer in the setaside field west of the house, they were pretty close to the buildings.

Congrats to the losers!
I'm trying to get more motivated with my exercise. I am trying to wake up earlier to do it but it is so hard! The baby just got 3 teeth out of nowhere yesterday and has been terribly fussy for the past week...I don't blame him! I can't believe he got his two top ones and only one bottom. My older son got his bottom first and then his top by the time he was 7 months. The baby is a bit over 8 months now. He is proving to be very different than his big brother! ;)

OMG today has been.....one hassle after another. It comes in threes, ya know? First, my phone is totally kaput so I'm without a cellphone. Then, after I TOLD HER that I would be picking up the check, the old realtor secretary put my deposit check in the freakin mail. Finally, I had to reinstall my whole Windows operating system. Which wouldn't have been so bad if the damn Dell people had just told me in the first place that was what I needed to do instead of dragging it on for over two weeks! :censored:
So sorry I haven't been around. Hopefully, this is the end of the computer (brandfreakinnew!) drama.

Good morning Red Rockets!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday. It has been a long week but at least it is half way over. I tell you this summer has gotten off to a very busy start, summer is usually a slower time for me workwise but no such luck this year.
I must say that I really enjoy this thread everyone is positive and inspirational. Seems like no matter how hard I try sometimes I still fall short of my goals but I am determined to stay as close on plan as I can and to continue to exercise as much as I can. I am dreading weigh in this weekend due to TOM knocking on the door but who knows maybe it will be better than I think. i am going to increase my water intake and get in some more exercise and stay away from the sodium, because I did not last night and I already feel the effects. Anyway hope everyone has a great day!!

Oh boy! I get to do the QOTD.......what can I come up with....... (Do these all need to be about weightloss?)
QOTD - Since you have begun to lose weight, have you noticed and change in the things you like to do for recreation?
I know I have. Before, whenever I'd have any spare time I be reading or crocheting or watching movies. I could sit still for hours. Now even if I do sit down to read, I'm jumping up every 15 minutes or so. I actually enjoy outside activities like tennis and frisbee. For my vacation this year I am spending a week walking across Scotland. Two years ago that would have been completely unimaginable!

QOTD - Since you have begun to lose weight, have you noticed and change in the things you like to do for recreation?
Lat summer I was so embarrased of my body i never took off my cover up. now do not get me wrong I still have a lot more to loose and need to tone up a lot but since I have lost some weight I have gained some confidence, not only confidence that my body is shrinking but that I do not really care what people think. i have enjoyed being outside playing with the kids, walking, swimming, playing baseball and much more. These are all things I have not really done in 2 years and I can not believe what a little fresh air and sunshine can do for my overall well being. I even played in a ballgame here at work last thursday and I did every well. I think I impressed a lot of co-workers. Now I have always been good at sports and never participated in work things before so I just assume that co-workers like a lot of people think over weight means lazy.

Ugh, I am sooo sore and tired today. I am expecting my TOM any day now, so I'm sure it's partially that. Thinking that while I don't want to not work out tomorrow, that I might just take a walk before work instead of my normal hardcore training. I hate taking off two days from my workout, but maybe that's what I need. Not sure.

QOTD - Since you have begun to lose weight, have you noticed and change in the things you like to do for recreation?
Not so much the things I like to do, as I've always loved sports & outdoors stuff, but maybe the company I do it in. Before I wouldn't want to play sports in front of people because I was self conscious, so I likely do those things more often now.
Whew...I finally have my house put back together and toddler proofed. Bring on the 21 month old....I'm ready!!!
Some bad news...apparently the 2 kitties I brought home loathed each other. I tried to let them aclimate but when there was bloodshed, one had to go. I only took 2 because everyone said cats should not be alone. Well, the one still here seems thrilled to be alone and unmaimed!! She is wonderful and settling in very well. My oldest niece is so excited that I now have a cat...she can not wait to get to PA and meet her. Today she called to ask how Stella (new kitty) was doing. Then she asked if Stella was afraid of heights!! I said I didn't know...how high are you talking about? She said "you know, like as high as a bunk bed". I just had to chuckle...she has a bunk bed in her room here and she sleeps on the top bunk!! She is just dying for this kitty to sleep with her! I am sure Stella will be more than happy to cuddle up with her...but she might have to convince her sister to give up the bottom bunk!! Kids!

I must have missed the post on the QOTD. How are we doing it? Does who ever post the QOTD then just pick someone to do the next one, or are we working down a list?
My good new for the day is that I'm back down from my 4.5lb TOM bloat. Now if I can just drop some more by Monday I'll be really happy! :D

Tonight I am being forced to go to a buffet but I have a plan! I am eating lower point today yet very healthy and I am saving my weekly points up for this. I will have a healthy snack beforehand. I will eat my first plate slowly which will be a salad with my own salad dressing. I found the points values of the other sort of foods online and I will just get one scoopful. I know pretty much what I will want to eat, so I figure, I will be set. I will be successful!

Its FRIDAY
Thank goodness!
Going to a womens conference with my BFF this weekend. She recently lost weight. And she is a great motivator who will help me stay on plan even at special events! Wanted to bike ride today since I have no babysitting kids BUT woke up with welts from new maxi pads so my BUTT is not going anywear near a bike seat today. So I will have to find another way to get some exercise today. I will try to do the 6km on Sunday. Sorry if that was TMI
Check in with you later!

Good plan I went last Friday with my family to a buffet and I used the dessert plate about the size of a childs plate for everything my salad, veggies etc. and It helped maintain portions. :)

For me it is Arnold Sandwhich Thins I love them and do not think I will ever use bread for a sandwhich again. Also I love the Skinny Cow ice cream treats.

QOTD? What is a healthy food/food items that you can not live without?
I love food and feel that it is very important that I find yummy stuff to eat. When I first started this WofL in December brussel sprouts were in season and I found that I LOVED them roasted. I now eat lots of veggies roasted.
I love frozen grapes and go through about 4 lbs. a week of those. Other must have in the fridge would be chicken, spinach, and grapefruit.
Well Mack's only been gone a few hours and I already miss him like crazy. He works VERY hard and the last month has been one of stress and deadlines. I'm glad he's going to get some much needed R&R and to dive everyday (weather permitting) but selfish me wants him here with ME.
I'm off to finally get on the treadmill; better late than never. The good news is we are having some VERY cool temperatures so the sunroom is very comfortable.
EDITED TO ADD
I had suggested taking turns asking the QOTD by having the person named naming the next person. I'm good with whatever..... just keep them coming.

I think taking a couple days now and then is a good way of giving your body the rest it needs. It's when those days turn in to a week or more that it becomes a problem for me.
Take is easy, enjoy some R&R.

I need strength. Tonight a group from work are going out. There will be eating and drinking and rowdiness. I think I'm in trouble. I am going to do my best to keep it to a dull roar. TOM is sneaking in any second now. I hope that helps me lose a little poundage.
QOTD? What is a healthy food/food items that you can not live without?
I don't really have anything. I'm a pretty plain eater and don't like many veggies. I try to eat more fruit.
I'll check in tomorrow and confess my sins.

Hi All
QOTD: What is a healthy food/food items that you can not live without?
Red Seedless grapes, I'm addicted to them and keep them ready to eat in a bowl in the frig. My whole family snacks out of it.
Yesterday I overdid it in my walk, almost 1/2 mile extra and today I'm suffering, my plantar faciatis has flaired and I am trying to stretch it and keep it iced but still hurts bad. No walk for me today. but I did do a little weeding in the garden.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

With Mack being gone the next 10 days I hope to get LOTS of little projects done. It's so weird... he leaves for work everyday and is gone all day but yesterday when I got home from taking him to the airport the house seemed so empty..... that's REALLY hard to do with five dogs and a cat.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend, I'm off to Lowes this morning for paint and staples for the the gun. I'm repainting and putting new fabric on the bar stools today.

The Scotland trip sounds awesome!!!
QOTD: I've always loved being outside and pretty much do the same things as always.
Tonight I am being forced to go to a buffet but I have a plan! I am eating lower point today yet very healthy and I am saving my weekly points up for this. I will have a healthy snack beforehand. For me it is Arnold Sandwhich Thins I love them and do not think I will ever use bread for a sandwhich again. Also I love the Skinny Cow ice cream treats.
I switched to those Sandwich thins too, from WW bagels. I can't live without my salad greens, veggies and fruits. Also keep EAS AdvantEDGE carb control Chocolate Fudge drinks for when I want something after a workout or just a chocolate snack. Also Cocoa roasted almonds and the 100 calorie bags of walnuts & almonds.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. TOM came a week early for me, so not sure how WI will be Monday,:crossed: I've been under a lot of stress, marriage stuff which sucks but we're working it out, but Friday just wasn't a good day and today I've just been exhausted from the adreneline rush from yesterday and haven't done anythign exercise related. Eating has been so so too. Atleast I'm drinking my water. :) Well my Redwings will be on here in a bit so I'll talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi All,
Today I weighed at 219, below 220 for the first time in a lot of years. I don't know if I'll make my goal of being under 200 by my birthday, but deffinatly before DS gets back (He's in the Army back the end of Sept after being deployed for a year) I haven't been doing much the last 2 days, I gave my foot some time to rest up, I think I'll be back walking tomorrow but I'm going to take it easier, not going to try for over 2 miles for a week. The last time I did this and kept pushing I had to have physical therapy. DD is wanting to go walking with me, but she keeps wanting to run, it stinks that an 8yo can outrun me.
CruiseCat: Way to go on the low:carrot:

To all of the animal people here...The cat I adopted from the shelter probably has ringworm and I am just freaking out. The vet will not treat until the culture comes back, which could be 10 days. In 2 weeks I will be returning with 3 children and a dog and do not want them infected. Websites are saying I must treat my entire home for spores!! OMG. this is way more than I bargained for...I just don't know what to do!! Any suggestions?

As far as I know the most likely way to get ringworm from an animal is from skin to skin contact, so try to avoid touching the cat as much as possible and try to confine it to one room. Also ringworm is a fungal infection and can be treated with an anit-fungal cream( in humans)
As long as you do A LOT of vacuuming and wash the hard surfaces with Bleach the humans in your house should be safe. The animals could still get ringworm outbreaks from the spores, but hopefully that won't happen.
Treatment for cats are usually pills and anit-fungal baths, maybe you can convince your vet to bathe the cat at least before it starts the pills. I don't see how the shampoo would hurt.

I can tell this challenge is going to fly by...especially after our 18 week marathon prior ;-) Hope you are all doing well! I've been really struggling the last few days...it just seems like June is one celebration after another! I do much better when I have a stable routine. This upcoming week should be pretty normal though...so at least I have that to look forward to. Hopefully I can get some good days under my belt before the madness that's going to ensue mid-end June thanks to my brother's wedding (i.e. bridal showers, bachelorette party, receptions...) my Mother's birthday and a slew of graduations. QOTD - Since you have begun to lose weight, have you noticed and change in the things you like to do for recreation?
As I lose weight I find I'm more comfortable participating in group/team activities, whether they're physical or not. Maybe I just feel more comfortable in my own skin. I have a little more energy, so I'm also getting a lot more done around the house, and spending more time on hobbies as well. I spend a lot less time eating recreationally.....less going out to restaurants, etc.

I've read about this and your calorie intake is the same over a week, it just varies day to day. I think it is probably a more realistic plan....I mean really now, who that is not on a diet regimen eats the exact same amount of calories each and every day? And maybe by varying your calories from day to day you could be less likely to hit stalls or plateaus? I think it's worth a try. I think you'll lose weight anyway because your overall weekly caloric intake is going to be the same, and if there are additional benefits then so much the better. :)

MTiger - I have had some success with calorie cycling when I've hit a plateaus in the past - but not currently. I currently just hoping to keep calories down for now.
I've done great with activities this week (walking and playing tennis) - so hopefully the scale will be kind tomorrow.
QOTD - There isn't currently a healthy food I can't live with out. I guess if I had to pick one it would be creamsicles (lower cal) I can substitue those instead of my true icecream cravings.

QOTD: activities? I can walk without getting so out of breath,so when a group of friends wants to walk back from somewhere instead of taking the bus, I'm in.
How's everyone doing? I pop in so infrequently - such a busy schedule, and my DH is off to the states for a week tonight, so pressure's on!
BUT - I'm happy to say I clocked a loss for the team this week, and not a gain :)
Keep rockin, rockets!!
maeminglea Did the ringworm go away with the cream? Did you have to disinfect the entire house? I have been using over the counter cream but I keep reading on the internet about having to throw things out, steam clean carpets, boil everything not nailed down ;) It's freaking me out as I do not want to have to do that after driving 2700 miles home!! I've had other people tell me that they/their children/their pets had ringworm and they never had to do all of this to their houses. They just treated with cream also.
Appreciate any and all info!! Thanks
