Now that's scary - that's nearly half the year gone, ladies! How are we doing with our new year resolutions?

I've had a very quiet weekend - came down with the sniffles on Saturday and didn't go to the gym or for a swim. It didn't really amount to much apart from a sore throat and a runny nose, but I didn't think it would hurt to have a weekend off. I'm feeling better now - having said that, I was never really sick...

We had a public holiday here today and I went out for brunch and ate far too much. I've got to get my eating back under control here - I'm doing OK, but I know I can do a lot better than I have been doing.

Tomorrow, I will go to the gym and have a workout, then work which will be very busy. At least the day will go quickly.

Jab, how did the spring cleaning go? Can your daughter who lives out of state take some of her stuff back with her the next time she visits, to give you a bit of space?

MJ, now you see why I call him yummy trainer! How's the knee going today - have you heard any more about the surgery?

Schmoodle, sounds like a busy weekend for you! Hope everything went well.

CC, wrestling 75 lbs of beast twice would have burnt lots of calories, so don't worry about not getting any exercise.

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Happy Monday everyone!!!

The weekend was less productive than I hoped but I managed to get some stuff on my never ending list accomplished.

I have already done my 20 min of exercise, I also weighed in and measured this morning. I dropped another 2 lbs and I've lost a total of 6 inches on my waist which I think is amazing.

Needless to say it has started my Monday off with a smile. I was very happy with my food intake yesterday as well, especially considering I grilled ribeyes for everyone else...lol.

Sun 5/31/09

Lf yogurt
Craisins
Walnuts diced
Water

Cottage cheese
Spoonful of tropical salsa (only 10 calories for 2Tbsp)
Ice tea w/lemon & splenda

Baked lemon pepper cod
Romaine lettuce topped with tropical salsa
Water

Grilled venison (small pc)
Water

Ff pudding
Water

4 oz green goodness juice

Have a great day !!!!!!!!

Ola chicks!
I've done well with food the last few days and feel more in control than I have in a long time. I took the kids for a swim yesterday and did some laps, which felt great. I've missed swimming! I've been counting calories this past week and can see where I need to tighten up the plan. I've dropped 3 of the regained pounds and that's the first time I can say I've lost in months, so that also feels great, although my ticker is still lying. So I am in a good place right now and plan to stay there, since, as my sig says, it's soooo much easier to stay on plan than to have to dig yourself out of a hole!

Here's today:
B: 2 pieces turkey bacon, 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 oatmeal breakfast bar, coffee with skim milk
S: Virgin Mary, mozzarella cheese stick
L: leftover steak over salad with Italian dressing, NSA pudding cup, cup of strawberries
S: skim latte, raw cauli with 2 T hummus
D: cheeseburger (no bun, lowfat cheese), mashed cauli
S: South Beach peanut butter cup or bean brownie

ugg, nicole, don't remind me, I have not made much progress on those resolutions.
jab, sounds like you are doing great, good for you, chick!
Hello to all, hope you have a great start to your week!

Hi everyone!!!

nicolen--YES I do!!! You must find out if he has a g/f! ;) So glad you are feeling better! I'm w/ you, I have been doing 'ok' w/ food, just not great. Thanks for the reminder. For me, well, not so good. Not that I really made resolutions, but I have not been keeping my commitments to myself. That changes today. I have written in my gym "appts" w/ myself in my planner. I know that works, but I had stopped doing it. I need to go fill up my water bottle--something else I have been slacking with...Just a good time to re-focus.

jab--a 2lb loss, that's great!!! I haven't seen a loss in so long, I'm forgetting what it looks like! LOL!!! That's about to change!!!

Schmoodle--a 3lb loss, that's great!!! My ticker is still 'lying' too...I'm tempted to make it right, but I don't want to at the same time....I'm going to let it go a little bit longer and we'll see how I do....I love to swim..that's the one thing I haven't done at my gym. It's a therapy pool, so a little warm for laps, but they do have water aerobics, which I really should check out. It would be good for my knee.

Still no news on the surgery--it's going to take time, and I am sick of waiting!!!

I have my gym clothes all ready for this afternoon. I am ready to get back into my routine of getting to the gym right after work. It will certainly help w/ stress levels and I am willing to bet it is contributing to me having a hard time sleeping lately.

Just a quick post to say hi. Crazy at work right now. I am happy to have my job, considering all the layoffs in my town, but I can't say that it is fun here......

Talk to y'all later.

Gah! June already?!

Okay, that means (including this week) there are 30 weeks left in the year. Imagine what we can accomplish in 30 weeks?!

If you lost 1 pounds a week, that would be 30 pounds gone!
If you lost 2 pounds a week, that would be 60 pounds lost!
If you lost 2.5 pounds a week, that would be 75 pounds lost!

I would love to be 75 pounds lighter. Heck, I'd even feel blessed with 30! What would you like to accomplish in 7 months?

Well, onto other stuff:

I ended up walking 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday. I'm doing my best to stick with exercising daily for at least 30 minutes and hopefully longer. It's not easy for me as it's my least favorite thing to do. But oh so necessary for good health! That is the #1 weakest area for accountability for me. So keep me honest! Eating is going fine. And I'm 4.6 pounds from my first 10% goal. What I'm really looking forward to is being below 300 again. Such a dismal number. Tonight I'm going to take the dogs on a long walk.

MJ: Hooray for re-focusing so quickly!
Diane: Hope the craziness gets more manageable soon
Schmoodle: Congrats on the 3 pounds in the right direction!
Jab: Way to go on the waist measurements! They say taking off waist inches can even be better for your health than overall loss.
Nicole: Glad you're feeling better. Say hi to the cute trainer for us...

Hey everyone,

It was a bit of a shock to go back to work today. I like these three day weekends - why can't they happen every weekend. Possibly because 4 days isn't enough to get all my work done. Anyway, a pretty quiet day, especially for the first day back after a long weekend - phones and a couple of grumpy letters that I had to write. One of our systems had a makeover over the weekend and looks really weird. Still, I guess I'll get used to it.

Gym this morning and things went OK. I did weights today since I didn't go to the gym yesterday and I noticed there's a new programme in my folder. Something tells me I'm going to be very sore on Friday night...

Tomorrow is not a gym day, so I might go for a walk. I might not as well - it's dark just after 5 now. I hate this time of year and am really ready for the daffodils to bloom. Any time soon would be great!

Jab, go you! 6" off your waist is fantastic stuff!

Schmoodle, yay for a loss! You'll be back at ticker time before you know it!

MJ, give me time! I actually write on my calendar at work all my gym appointments. It's a good feeling to get to work and cross them off the calendar!

Diane, having a job is fantastic, but hopefully things will slow down for you soon!

CC, keep up the exercise - you'll get there!

Have fun everyone!

Again I've done my stretches and exercise, only 20 minutes but it's better than nothing.

This is the first time I have measured while dieting so I am impressed. I think I was happier to see that the tape measure changed then the scale move, but my focus is on a healthier me and belly fat kills.

I felt really good yesterday and that helped with sticking to the food plan. I felt less tempted, but I was also busy non stop at work so there was no time for my mind to drift.

Mon. 6/1/09

1/2 mango
Banana
Water

Triscuits
Water

Apple
water

cottage cheese
romaine lettuce
salsa
tuna
4 oz green goodness juice
Water

Ff pudding

Good luck to everyone staying OP today and have a great day !!!

Hi chicks....I have finally had a sane day with food yesterday. I have been struggling so so much. I am hoping that I can carry on. I need to think positive...

today -

I will put my fork down between bites.
I will concentrate on tasting the food rather than concentrating on the TV.
I will not eat standing up.
I will do my stretches.
I will meditate.
I will log my food.
I will plan my food day to be healthful and tasty.
I will drink lots of water.

Hope you all have a GREAT day.

Good Morning! I wanted to pop in before the day gets away from me!

Diane--Sorry to hear things are so hectic!

CC--What a great perspective!!! Thanks for listing that! Great job on the exercise! I know what keeps me accountable is posting my exercise plan for the day. That way, I have it down and I know I have to 'tell' on myself if I didn't do it. Now if I at least do something, that's not so bad, but I really don't like coming here and saying that I didn't do it at all!

nicolen--I agree, three day weekends are great! You take all the time you need!! Like Diane said, we are living vicariously through you!!!

jab--I agree, busy days at work are easier to be tempted!!!

Beverlyjoy-Yea! So glad to see you here! I like your food plan to be "healthful and tasty"...great idea!

Rhonda--How are you doing?

I have my healthy lunch all packed. I have already started drinking water. I have my gym clothes waiting for me in the car! At the gym tonight I will lift weights (upper body) and do cardio.

Have a great OP day everyone!

Hi Folks. I've been lurking, but not posting. Nothing much to report here. I'm kind of in a holding pattern. My brother and his family will arrive on Sunday for a visit. The following weekend, we go to Florida for a week. When we get back, I'll be headed to Greensboro for a business trip. With all of this going on, I've not put myself back on my plan. I am regretting it as this will be the first time I meet some of my co-workers. Also, I'll be going to the beach.

This morning, my youngest asked me if something was "on my diet." I told her the Mommy hasn't been on my diet for a while now. Her response.."But, Mommy, don't you want to be healthy?" Somewhere along the line, I lost sight of the real reason I'm doing this. No, I can't get much off before the beach or the business trip, but this isn't all about looking better. So today, I'm trying to eat healthier. It's a start.

Had a good workout today. That is one area that I am doing really well with. I was perfectly on plan yesterday with food, so it was a good day. I had drifted slightly over the past week because of the baseball tournaments (lame excuse, but that's what I let get in my way). It feels so much better to be in my routine and on plan. I'm not sure why it is so hard to remember that!

My daughter started her volleyball workouts yesterday. They mainly did a lot of running, and she knew she is not in great shape. She was so nervous going to it, but when I picked her up, she just chatted and chatted all the way home. She was just excited and had a lot of fun. I told her that she is feeling good about what she did, and that's why she needs to keep it up. She might have rolled her eyes at that point, but I know that I'm right. It felt good to her to get out and move!

Rhonda - You have a lot coming up in the next few weeks. I'm sure it would be really hard to stay perfectly on plan, but I think you're right. You need to try to eat healthy. Boy, your daughter has learned some good lessons!!

MJ - Have a good workout! Sounds like you are ready for the day!

Beverly - Hang tough! You can do this!

Jab - Shrinking waistlines are so good! And so motivating!

Nicolen - Regarding yummy trainer... you must be younger than me. He is really cute, but he looked really young to me!!! (Of course there's nothing wrong with that... now that I think about it!)

CC - You are so close! I'm anxious to hear you tell us all about moving into the 200's!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi everybody!

I got a new avatar today! 30 pounds gone and 3.4 left to go to my first 10%. Woo Hoo! Eating is fine. Exercise is still needed today. Taking MJ's advice I'll declare it here then I have to do it... How about a 1.1 mile dog walk and 1 miles on the treadmill on an incline. The dogs will love it. They already got an hour at the dog park this afternoon.

Hope you all are doing well. Hang in there!

So that was Wednesday. We had the heaviest frost of the year, but the day turned out fine, although it never really heated up. It's my day off the gym, so exercise was non existent. That's OK.

Work was busy today. We're coming up to annual appraisal time and I, as usual, have left everything to the last minute. Somehow between now and Friday I have to complete my part of the assessment and do the assessment for the five people I supervise. I don't think there will be much work done tomorrow, but that's OK. You have days like that.

So tomorrow, the plan is to go to the gym, go to work and do my assessments before I do any other work. My desk is mostly clear, so unless something comes in overnight that needs urgent attention, that's what I'll be doing.

Jab, exactly! It's fun to watch the number on the scale drop, but really it's all about the tape measure test or the jeans test. Well, that's what I'm telling myself, anyway

Beverly, how fantastic to see you! Just remember, we're here for you when you're struggling.

MJ, go you, organised lady! How was the gym?

Rhonda, that's a great place to start. Enjoy your visit!

Diane, why can't we remember how good it feels when we're on plan. And for the record, I'm 35. I think, judging from some of the cultural references we've made, yummy trainer is younger than me, but not much - maybe early 30's... That's definitely not too young!

CC, woohoo for 30lbs down! And for exercising!

Mel, :welcome3:! Fantastic to see you here, and I'm looking forward to getting to know more about you.

Have fun everyone!

Hi folks...I had a good day with food yesterday :) - I am so grateful. I am especially happy that I did not watch any TV while I was eating. That's a huge step for me. Isn't it funny - how I can spend so much time thinking about food all day..but, don't think about it when I eat it - because I usually eat it too darn fast. :dizzy: I am trying to 'feel' fullness when I eat.

Today:
eat healthy and yummy food
drink lots of water
stretches
meditation
log food
no TV or distractions while eating
put my fork down between bites
try to stay positive

Jab - good for you and your food plan and work out! :)

Nicolen - sounds like work is so busy - you'll get it all done. Sometimes folks like that last minute pressure. Frost....yikes!! = wear your mittens.;)

Mel - Welcome! It IS a day to day lifestyle - this trying to eat and live more healthfully. So glad you joined us! :D

CLCS - I LOVE your new avatar - go girl. :carrot::carrot: Its a wonderful accomplishment.

Slash - it's great that your daughter did that workout - you both felt great! :) Hooray for having a great on plan day. :D

Hi Rhonda - wow - you are will be so busy. :dizzy: Do the best you can...you are worth it, friend.

MJ - LOVE your great plan for today - being prepared to have a good day is such a good reminder to us all.

Have a great day, chicks!

Rhonda--Exactly. It isn't all about looking better. I know you can do this! Sounds like things are going to get super busy at your house.....good time to get 'grounded'. We are here cheering you on!

Diane--I know what you mean...it's SO much easier to be in a routine and OP!

CC--Fabulous new avatar!!! So, did you hop on that treadmill and get those pooches out for a walk???

mel--Welcome!!! Before you know it, it will be a habit!

nicolen--Yikes, thanks for the reminder....I am behind on two reviews that I need to fill out and meet w/ the staff! The gym was GREAT!!!

jab--great job!

Beverlyjoy--Yippe! Another good day!

Exercise plan for tonight is to take the dogs for a walk. They have too much energy for their own good ;) and that will help!!!

I am looking forward to the weekend already...dh has the whole weekend off again. He went for SO long w/out any weekends off, now he's getting lots of them, which is fine by me!!! No major plans, yet.

Have a great rest of the day!

Well, that was a productive day at work. I did 2 things - and got rid of my favourite claim. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for entertainment now - it's kind of hard to keep a straight face when the client tells you that the mere mention of your name gives her a nervous breakdown! I got my appraisals done and spent a lot of time doing "damage control" as the boss put it. Tomorrow will be more productive - I hope!

The gym was OK. It was a bit of a struggle at the start of the workout, but I got there in the end. And, yes, there is a new routine waiting for me tomorrow. Kill me now...

I'm feeling a bit jealous - my friend is off to Melbourne (Australia) for the weekend tomorrow. Wish I was going with her - shopping, theatre, food. Next year - definitely next year!

Jab, hope things are a bit easier for you today!

Beverly, that's awesome. I try not to eat in front of the TV as well - it's just too easy to overeat and not realise what you're doing till the packet/box/whatever is empty...

MJ, yay for DH having the weekend off! It looks like you're getting back into a routine again - go you!

Everyone else, hi! How are you all?

Enjoy your day, ladies!

Good Morning everyone! It's going to be another busy day (aren't they all, these days???) so, I thought I would pop in quick this am...

nicolen--Yippee getting those things done. Must be something in the air...I have spend a lot of time doing 'damage control' too...Ooh, now I think I am jealous of your friends trip too...sounds awesome!

Not sure what dh and I will do this weekend. I *should* do some reorganzing in our bedroom--my dressers are a total mess, but we'll see...my dh LOVES plans, he hasn't ever been in one, but he LOVES watching them take off and land. There is a small airport near us that has a 'fly in -- drive in' breakfast every sunday. You can go to have breakfast and check out all the planes. I think we might do that.

Ok, the dogs are bugging me to go out AGAIN already.....

Have a great OP day!

One day closer to Friday and i am off work this weekend...lol. It's sad but we really do seem to spend a lot of time wishing life away trying to get to those days off if you think about it. It's been an odd week as I have worked different hours than norm for me and it throws me off kilter in my "routine".

Food wise I am hanging in there. I did my work out and a walk yesterday before work so that was great. I bought a wii and am going to try to find a program I like for it that is a work out.

I ordered the Gold's Gym as I read good things about it as an interactive exercise. We'll see if I can do it. I still have trouble working the dvd player to be honest. My son was thrilled seeing the wii in the car. I didn't tell him mom really wanted it for herself...lol.

Hi Chicks - I had a sane, healthful day with food yesterday (that's three days now) - I am so grateful. :) I've been really trying to not eat in front of the TV. It's been making a huge difference. I've been trying to make my meals last 20 minutes :dizzy: - I am not quite there, but - have made some progress. I am grateful for that too. :)

Today:
choose healthful and tasty food
eat slowly
no distractions when I eat
meditations
stretches
do my journal
lots of water
stay positive
ice and heat my pieces and parts

Jab - sounds like things are positive for you..yay. :D Glad you have the weekend off! :)

Mj - the breakfast at the airport sounds like fun. :) Isn't it nice that the doggies 'encourage' you to get some walking in. ;) Hope you have a nice day.

Nicolen - sounds like you took care of business at work! GREAT. Enjoy that new routine at the gym. :D

Well, I tried something new at the gym today and it was good. I got inspired by my son's football coach who has been going to the gym for the past month. He is a little older than I am and he's a very large man (big belly... but also a heart of gold). Anyway, he's been working very hard and you can tell he's losing weight. So, the other day when I was on the elliptical and he was on a treadmill. He would run and then walk, then run, then walk. I thought that if he can do a little running, maybe I should do it too. So, today I got on the treadmill and did a little running, mixed in with walking. It was really tough, but a great work out. I have to remember to push myself to try things like that! Maybe that spin class isn't too far out of reach!

Beverly: Good job with staying on plan! You're awesome!

Jab: Unfortunately, I do the same thing. Just can't wait for the weekend!

MJ: Boy, do I understand the issues with being busy. It is just crazy sometimes.

Nicolen: Gosh, going to Melbourne would be cool.

Hi to everyone else out there!

Hey all!

Well it worked MJ to declare my exercise here and then do it! Loophole: not declaring it here yesterday so I didn't have to do it. I'm a sneaky thing. So I'm closing the loophole and forcing myself to tell you all everyday what I'm planning to do. Today 45 minutes on the treadmill.

The weight has been falling off the last few days. I'm steeling myself for the morning I wake up and the scale has gone up, but enjoying the drops nonetheless. I'm 1.2 pounds from my first 10% goal! Woohoo! I do find I'm a little more tired lately needing a nap in the afternoon. I usually go through bouts of sleepiness when I'm losing. Does anyone else?

Hope you all are having a good day! I'm cheering you all on!

Yay Friday! I have a hot date with Johnny Depp and the DVD player and my blankie and the tissues are on standby. Just what I'm in the mood for tonight after a busy day.

So, yes there was a new programme waiting for me at the gym. On the plus side, no more step ups to injure myself on. And on the minus side, lots of squats, lunges and balance work. There are days that I hate yummy trainer! Then again, he did tell me that he was impressed at the way I showed up and worked hard every day... And for Diane, there was a wee bit of flirting going on! ;)

Work was so busy today. The phones just went absolutely mad. No reason for it and most people were really fantastic, but I'm quite drained - it was a really full on day!

Tomorrow, the plan is to go to the gym and do the spin class, and then go and see a friend of mine who had a baby last night. A little girl, born 8 weeks early, so she's a very little girl! All seems fine so far - she's obviously very small (3lbs, 6oz!), so will be in the hospital for at least a couple of weeks while she gets used to this big bad world.

MJ, that sounds like a fantastic place to have breakfast. You'll have to get him in a plane - a trip away somewhere hot and exotic! Well, that's what's appealing to me at the moment...

Jab, I know when I'm on a different shift, it really throws me off. Hope the DVD's a good one!

Beverly, yay for 3 days in a row! Awesome stuff!

Diane, that sounds like interval training - yummy trainer has me doing that as well. It can be hard.

CC, I know what you mean about posting here keeping you accountable...

Take care all!

Good Morning!

It's going to be another SUPER DUPER crazy day at work, but at least I know that going in...I am the mgr on call this week, so I already know the issues...I'm glad that they aren't in my program, but still I have to help out the other mgr....

jab--Yippee...we made it to Friday! Have fun w/ your new wii.

Beverlyjoy--Awesome! Keept it up, I know you can! How are your peices and parts? Yes, it is good that the dogs get me moving sometimes...we ALL slept better after a nice walk! LOL!

Diane--That is awesome! I have to remember to push myself at the gym too...I fall into my 'same old' routine...and forget to focus on ME and working hard. Yea, but busy is job security, right?!!! At least it's Friday!!!

CC--Ok, so now you know what you have to do...declare it everyday! Yea, that happens to me too...if I don't put it on here, I am less likely to do it! You are doing fantastic!!!!! Ya know, I've never paid attention to the whole being tired/losing thing....I'll have to pay more attention!

nicolen--Enjoy your date night! LOL!!! How are you feeling today? A bit sore, I'll bet. Hmm...yummy trainer sounds interesting there.... :) :) :) I would LOVE to get him in a plane...I'm hoping to go to Georgia next summer for a friends son's graduation, but I would want to fly...too long in the car, our whole 'vacation' would be spent driving. Congrats to your friend. What a tiny, cutie she must be!!!

Rhonda, Schmoodle, Lixxi, and everyone else who pops in--HI!!!!

I did not get a workout in yesterday. My knee was seriously hurting, but I have to stop 'using' that as my excuse again. If it's not better--at least better enough to do my normal workout by next week, I'll call the doctor again. Maybe some PT to getting it 'settled down' would help...I don't know.

Today I will walk during lunch. I am having dinner w/ some friends after work. I know where we are going and I am familiar w/ the restaurant, so I already know what I am going to order. I told one of my friends what I am ordering and asked that she help remind me that's what I REALLY want. I'm not even going to look at a menu. I seem to do really well for a couple days, then not so good...so I'm hoping this will help keep me on a good day!!!!

Hi chicks...seems I am on a roll - another good day yesterday - I am grateful!!
Today I am resting my foot - as it is very, very sore. I hope it can calm down quickly.

Today:
choose healthful and tasty food
eat slowly
no distractions when I eat
meditations
stretches
do my journal
lots of water
stay positive
ice and heat my pieces and parts
try not to worry about my foot - be kind to my foot

Mj -- that darn knee (and my darn foot) - I am sorry it's paining you. What's happening with the surgery. Sounds like work is so busy - I am glad you'll have a nice weekend.

Nicolen - love that date!!! Sounds like your workout went well. Great!

CLCS - good for you!! 45 minutes on the treadmill is a wonderful goal. And, being so close to your 10% is wonderful.

Slash - we can take inspiration from many things. Great workout.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hey everyone. I had a good workout, stayed on plan with food yesterday, so it was a good day. I went early to my daughter's workout with the volleyball team. I wanted to see what they do. Wow, it is intense. It's a different type of program in that they do some warm ups at first and then they have a 20 minute session where they did a series of pushups, situps and squats. Other days they do other things, but they just keep doing however many reps per set and keep going until the end of 20 minutes. Lots of very fit girls were red faced and huffing/puffing at the end of that. I was impressed. She asked me to rub her legs last night. Ha! I told her that this program is a great thing for her.

Beverly: Good for you, being on a roll. That feels good, I'll bet. Hope your foot gets better!

Jab: TGIF to you too! So glad!

MJ: Hope your knee gets to feeling better. I'm sure that's frustrating!

Nicolen: Yay for flirting! Love that! I've been thinking about trying a spin class, too. I did it a long time ago and it was such a good workout. Scary, though!

CC: Enjoy your weight loss! That's awesome!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi all!

Well I did my 45 minutes. :cheer: Though round about 35 minutes I just wanted to quit. Gah! I'm such a quitter when it comes to exerting myself! Anyway, told myself to quit whining and get on with it. Today I think it will be a long walk with the dogs and an extra mile on the treadmill for good measure.

Sorry MJ and Beverly about the owies. It never ceases to amaze me how much you use a body part until it hurts. Good for you both for trying to work around it!

Nicole: what Depp movie did you pick?

Jab: glad you're liking the Wii! Did you give your son a turn or is it mommy's toy? :D

Take care today everyone!

Hello chicks and happy Friday. Sorry I haven't been around much this week. I have had a busy and frustrating week at work, and on top of that DD2's dance recitals are this week, so we've had dress rehearsals, blocking rehearsals, then 3 days of shows. I would love this time of year if it weren't for all the "stuff" going on.
But I am happy to report today is day 8 on-plan. I am still South Beaching, but added in calorie counting. Once I've put my menu in there, I don't usually feel like coming to post it here too. I hate it, it's a lot of work, but very eye opening and worthwhile. South Beach doesn't require calorie counting. I did the math and if you eat the recommended foods in the recommended servings, you are getting about 2,000 calories. That worked fine for me when I had 100 lbs. to lose, but now that I am more than halfway there, things have tapered off, which is discouraging, and caused me to go off plan for a few months before I could dig my toes in and turn it around. Anyway, 2K cals is maintenance for my weight if I am sedentary, so I am shooting for 1500 - 1600 calories. It's hard, I have felt pretty hungry this week, which I'm not used to and don't much like, but I'll adjust. I am also going to start a program at the Y in a couple of weeks, and once the kids are out of school (10 more days), I can start hitting the gym in the morning before work. I would love to be in the 160's by the end of the year.

So tonight I have to usher at the recital, I'll have to do an early dinner (and I haven't figured out what yet). Tomorrow I've got a breakfast date with my friend and then we'll hit the farmer's market - that's our big outing for the week! Then DD has an afternoon and evening recital, so Saturday's accounted for. Sunday will be cleaning, laundry, etc, getting ready for next week, as I have a business trip. I'm hoping it will be warm enough for a swim Sunday afternoon.

My menu for today:
B: hardboiled egg, 2 slices turkey bacon, 1/4 cup Kashi nuggets with 1/3 cup milk, coffee with milk
S: string cheese
L: salmon patty, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, raw sugar snap peas with 3T hummus
S: coffee with milk, bean brownie
D: some kind of hamburger casserole thingie, spinach.

Hope you are all planning a fun weekend. Even when I don't have time to post, I do stop in and read to keep up with you all.

Good Morning!

jab--I am the queen of uncoordinated, so I can relate! It sounds fun, though!

Beverlyjoy--Awesome for another great day! Sorry to hear about your foot. It is super frustrating isn't it???? The surgery, well....still waiting....my doctor wrote a letter to the worker's comp judge, so hopefully that will help move things along.

Diane--Awesome, keep it up!!! You are inspiring me to get back on track when I start to stray!!!

CC--AWESOME!!! Congrats for finishing the 45 mins! That happens to me know, I'll plan for a certain amount of time and while I working out I'll try to talk myself into stopping sooner...

Schmoodle--Phew, I'm tired just readying about your saturday!!!! Sounds like you have good plan for yourself. I know you'll do it!!!

Ok, so my food choices we not as healthy as they could have been, but at the same time, they could have been much, much worse. Today will be a nice long walk w/ the dogs--it's gorgeous here today! I'm hoping I don't get a lot of work calls...I'm the mgr on call this weekend and we still have a MAJOR incident going on. Really stinks to still be tied to work on the weekend!!!!

Have a great OP day everyone! I need some coffee!

I did my exercise even though I didn't want to AT ALL! The dogs and I walked our shorter route (1.1 miles) and then I came home and did a mile on the treadmill. It does help to declare it here a lot. So today I think it'll be the longer route with the dogs (1.6 miles I think - I'll take my iPhone with the distance measuring app - love that thing!) and some resistance band work.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Hi Chicks - I've had 6 healthy sane days with food - I am so grateful! Since my foot hurts I've been sitting alot. But, I did do my stretches - so that some movement. Today is another day of icing my foot every three hours, etc. I've been really concentrating on tasting the food, putting my fork down between bites, trying to feel when I am getting full, etc. I am happy to say that lately each meal has taken between 15 and 30 minutes to eat. For me that a HUGE accomplishment.

Also -
Eat healthy delicious food
Keep track of food
drink lots of water
stretches
meditation
read inspirational health stuff - online etc
put fork down between each bite
no distractions during mealtime
PMA - positive mental attitude

Jab - planting a garden is a good accomplishment. It counts. Great plan.

CLCS - I bet the dogs love the walking. Good idea to see how much you walk with the dogs. It's tangible - that's helpful, I think!

MJ - have fun with the dogs. I hope you don't get called into work!

Nicolen - hope you are having a GREAT weekend.

Have a GREAT day.

Good Morning everyone! Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

CC--Great job!!!

jab--I hate days like that...oh well, at least your garden is in! I can't wait for the farmer's markets to start up! I really want so great produce!

Beverlyjoy--6 days, that is fantastic! Hope your foot feels better. My knee is terrible this weekend too...lots of icing going on here too! The good news is, I don't have to go in to work, we just get crisis calls from the staff (or FYI calls for certain things that they have to call us about). So far NO calls. There is one call I wish I would get...we have someone missing and I would LOVE a call saying he has been found and is safe and unharmed.

Rhonda--Hope things aren't too over the top hectic at your house!

Schmoodle--Hope the dance recitals went smoothly!

nicolen--I think I am going to have a relaxing day w/ a movie today, like you did on Friday night...

So, unfortunately no walking here yesterday. Dh was not feeling well and ended up calling the doctor on call. He was told to go go the ER (NOT what either of us expected!). He has been diagnosed w/ Vertigo (dizziness) that they think is being caused by sinus-related stuff, but not really sure. The scary thing was, they started w/ a stroke assessment. He passed w/ flying colors, of course, but the fact that they were even thinking a stroke....especially since it would have been my dad's 65th bday and we were right across the hall from the room in the ER where he was was pronounced. It just kind of creeped me out yesterday!!! Luckily, dh feels 'ok', not great, but ok. He has to follow up w/ his doctor tomorrow.

I am just really frustrated w/ my knee and the fact that I have not been eating as well as I know I should. My exercise has been suffering--partly time/schedule related, partly knee related, and really, I know I have been making excuses. I know what I need to do. I am going to take cre of my knee today (pain meds, ice, and rest), and hit the gym tomorrow. It's a vicious cycle...working out can hurt my knee, but losing the weight will help in the long run...ugh...just frustrated today. I will NOT use it as an excuse to eat too much, though. That is NOT going to solve anything!

MJ - Wow, that's a scary day for you. I'm glad it was "just" vertigo. I've had bouts of that in the past and it is no fun, but at least it isn't a stroke. Hope he gets to feeling better.

It's been a good weekend here. I worked out yesterday, but won't be today. It is a planned rest day, so it's ok..... :)

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

Well, honesty rules here, so I'll tell you I didn't exercise yesterday. No excuse, really, I was just so incredibly exhausted all I wanted to do was sleep. Scary but true: I napped for an hour and a half before dinner and then promptly fell asleep for another 3 and a half hours! And still slept a full night. Maybe I'll be more awake today. I'm going to my parents' house today, but I'll take my meals with me so no food temptations there. It helps that all my mom ever has in the house is endless condiments in an overflowing pantry and NOTHING really to eat. We call her the "condiment queen" 20 jars of mustard, 11 jars of mayonnaise and nothing to put it on...

That crimps exercise a bit for me, but I will run around a lot playing with the dogs today. Maybe a walk when we get home if I can squeeze it in and they can keep their eyes open. They run themselves ragged out there!

Have a good day all!
