Welcome to all our Red Rockets. Hope you all are ready to have some fun this summer and continue on your healthy journey.

The first challenge I would like for each of you to do this week is to take a couple of pictures of yourself and take measurement from at least five places. You don't have to post them here (but can if you want), these will be for your comparison at the end of the challenge.

During the last challenge I took weekly pictures and was amazed that I could see even a 1 lb. loss. I also did monthly measurements so that not only did I see the number change on the scale I could watch inches fall from my body.

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I joined to help keep me accountable and I enjoy the friendships I made during the last challenge. My goal is to continue to learn and practice a healthy life style that helps me feel better physically and emotionally and promotes weight loss.

That is a great idea! I've been keeping track of measurements but taking pictures still scares me!

QOTD: I joined this challenge because the last challenge really helped me and I was finally able to get under 200. I also like talking to these awesome and inspiring people!
My goal is to at least get under 169, but I set the number at 165. I will be within a healthy BMI and that would just be amazing! It will also mean that I only have about 15 lbs till I get to goal! ;)

I know many of you are camera shy and I hope that by my sharing this it will help you want to take pictures. You too will see the changes in the pictures you take when you don't see them in the mirror. There is NO denying that change is happening.

These were all taken during the last challenge.

OK... I need to go take my new "before" pictures and measurements.

Hi rockets, nice to meet you all. Special thanks to Cruise Cat for being captain and also for sharing your progress pics....I will take mine tonight along with measurements!

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I get motivated by a good challenge and I also get inspired when there is group momentum towards a shared goal. Hopefully, I will not only be a taker, but my progress will also inspire others.

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

Because, the last challenge was fun, and I can always use more motivation in my life. Honestly, this place has been great for keeping me motivated. You guys are great!

Here is a progress photo of me from Oct 2008 to Jan 2009. I need to update it again, because there is about 4 more months and approx 30 llbs more gone since the last pic.

Since March I made a committment to a healthier lifestyle. I have developed healthier eating habits and have began to like exercise a little bit. I do better with accountability and motivation and I believe that the Red Rockets will give me both. My goal is to loose 15 pounds that is just a little over one pound a week which would bring me right under 200!!!!

Hi Red Rockets!! So glad to be back on a team and in a challenge. I would take pics but my digital camera broke so I don't have that, but will take measurements.

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I joined because I like the accountability to a team and it pushes me not to let myself down so I don't let my team down. My goal is to lose 2lbs a week, which will be accomplished by eating healthy, drinking my water, and exercising daily.
I look forward to getting to know all of you and hanging with you all summer long!!! :sunny:

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I joined this challenge to keep me motivated and accountable, and my goal is to drop 30 pounds by August 30th.

I am very excited about being part of this team! :)

I'm not sure how I feel about the pictures. I do get the point of taking them, but I so hate having my picture taken at this weight....will have to think about that one. I'll probably bite the bullet and take them, but I need to get my head wrapped around the idea first.

Hello Rockets! Lets blast this fat away! I have not done the last two challenges. I look forward to getting to know you all! My Goal is yet to be determined. I havent had a chance to do that yet. Will do later. I joined to blast the fat and I know you ladies are good at butt kickin's! Goal setting is hard for me. I set them then forget them or get side tracked! So maybe this challege will keep the momentum going!

RangerChic & CruiseCAT, thanks for sharing those awesome progress pictures. They really inspire me!

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

Hi Rockets,
Good to see some familiar names and some new ones too.

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I joined the challenge to have someone to talk to about my weight loss challenges and also to have someone to be accountable. DH accually need to gain weight, he is very supportive, but has different perspective and it's hard to put weight on him and take it off of me, maybe I can be a donor for a transplant.
My goal for this challenge is to get below 200. Onederland here I come.

I tried to add my progress pics but it is being very stubborn. I will try again later.

The reason I joined this challeng is I still have a ways to go to make goal. This is the third BL challenge I have done and I love the competition and support we get through these challenges. I have not set a pounds to lose goal, since I usually don't meet them. I have the world's funkiest body in the world. It loses when, and only when it want to. I am always looking for advice and encouragement.

Hi Red Rockets,
Glad to be part of the team. I recognize a lot of you from other areas of the site I think. I was on the blue team a few challenges ago, then took a break, but am glad to be part of red. We will rock it!

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

I joined this challenge for motivation. My goal is to get down to 149 (that is my "no longer obese" number). For this summer, I would be amazed at myself to get to that #. :)

RangerChic - Great pics, can you post the weights of those pics, we are about the the same height - I want to see what I can look like.

Cat thanks for being our fearless leader!

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.

QOTD:I joined this challenge because since having the baby I have not been taking care of me. I have only lost half of the weight I put on during pregnancy, and I know that I am not holding myself accountable like I should. I am hopeful that I will be more motivated to take care of me in a group setting where I have more support and motivation to succeed.

Thanks! Well, the first two are of me at just over 200lbs (maybe 198 for the 2nd one). The 3rd one is about 178lbs, and the last is when I was at 165. So, the one between three and four is prob like 170 most likely.
I'm in the 130s now, so I will most recent ones by the weekend. Especially one side by side with the fist one. :)

hello all! this is my first challenge and i'm glad to be doing this with all of you!

QOTD: Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.
i joined this challenge because i need something like this to keep me motivated. to be held accountable for my weight loss on a team forum like this will really help me stay on task. this is my first challenge on the forum and i have some of my friends from home as well as some new friends i'm sure on the team and i find that when i do things with groups i stay "into it" and engaged. i'm hoping this will make me stay on the right track and make better choices... the idea of a "weigh in" really puts things in perspective. my goal with this challenge is to give myself a kick in the butt and make this happen for me... i trying to lose weight but it isn't happening the way i'd like it too and it seems like i really need to buckle down already. this will do that for me.

i wish you all the best of luck, we're going to kick some butt. as for the pictures and measurements, i'm going to get right on that when i can find/buy a tape measure.

QOTD(b) - Apparently I can't read properly (or spell, lol), so I only answered part of the question. My goal is to lose 14 pounds which will put me at 141. That is just 5lbs from my ultimate goal. Of course I would really, really like it if I got all the way down to 136, but I'm still going to set my goal at 1lb per week.

Hello Red Rockets...Hope everyone is having a Wonderful Wednesday and gearing up for our challenge. I will take a picture this weekend as well as get measurements. I have taken measurements every 4 weeks and it is time to take them again. I have never been this motivated to loose weight and promise not to let the team down. My next goal is to make it under 200 and I hope I can accomplish that with this challenge. I am proud to be a member of the red team. I have worn red everyday this week!!!

I love being here with you all and being accountable. For several weeks now I have not been very motivated or diligent about exercise. Since starting the challenge I am excited about working out again. I'm only doing the treadmill and bowflex but I have pulled a couple of my DVD's out.

Here is a new QOTD:

What is your favorite workout?

I love ZUMBA but I'm not very coordinated. I may dance around like I have two left feet but at least I burn calories and have fun.

QOTD - I don't like workouts. Okay, 10 points for honesty, 0 for helpfulness. Right now I am doing 1min run/2min walk intervals on the treadmill. I don't enjoy it, but it burns quite a few calories in a reasonable amount of time.

Happy to be a part of the team :)

With regards to goal, well I'd like to reach mine at some point (120) but for this challenge, I'd be happy to get under 140, so that 13+ lbs for me to lose.

Ok, thanks for the clarification! I probably won't be able to get fully into the exercise until next week.....trying to get past the cold/flu thingy here. Staying on plan with the diet so the scale is still heading in the right direction....this morning was down 2.6 lbs from my initial weigh-in for this challenge. Workouts. Call me a freak, but I like all kinds of workouts now. Can't believe I am saying that. It gives me a sense of power and accomplishment. I like to run, kickbox, workout with anything Jillian or BL. I do a little of everything.

I would be thrilled to lose 10 more pounds through this challenge. I lose REALLY.......Slowly. It is pretty ugly. So 10 pounds would be great. Currently I am up to 191.2. I always gain around my mid-cycle time, so I am hoping that is what this is. There can't really be any other explanation.

Did BL Bootcamp tonight, after quite a long time. It kicked my butt.

Awww, thanks! I just count my calories and workout hard and 6 days a week. I presently eat 1400 calories a day (just increased them a couple weeks ago from 1300) for the most part. I workout with Jillian's dvds which are an amazing workout burning 200-300 cal a workout. And, I give myself one day a week to eat whatever I want within reason. On Saturdays, I eat lunch at Chipotle which is healthy, just higher in calories than my normal lunch (never eat more than 2,000 calories on that high cal day). Gives me something to look forward to each week even though now I've gradually moving away from using food as any sort of reward or prize. Now, I buy a few songs off itunes each week or the like.
Anyway, easy yet not so much. Ha. I also eat mostly organic as it not only is better for you, but seems to fill me up more. Keep doing it, you can do it! :)

I TOO love zumba! they offer it at my gym and most YMCAs and i highly recommend it. what a great work out that's also fun at the same time. i have a hard time just jogging in place on an elliptical or treadmill for more than a week consistently so i try to break it up with a class or two a week. i also love the wii fit and have the jillian michaels work out for it but its glitchy and sometimes freezes before i get 15 min into a work out.

Well I just got back from the doctor a little while ago and the cold/flu thingy is now a sinus and bronchial infection thingy.....I get to take antibiotics for 14 days and....here's the really crappy part....I get to take prednisone for 8 days. The prednisone always puts weight on me, so my plan is to continue with the diet and exercise plans and just ride it out. Good morning ladies, it's good to see you all so active here on our thread. Checking in here a couple times a day keeps health and fitness as a major focus throughout my day.

My favorite workout is step, I used to teach it among many other classes for over two years. It is very fun.

Teaching a class at a gym has always been a secret dream of mine.

I lost a bunch this week even with TOM. I'm so excited.

Seems to be two camps when it comes to TOM, those that gain mid cycle and those that gain during. I'm a mid-cycler.

This is something I need to really check out. I remember when I first found FitTV during the last challenge and thought I would use it 1-2 per week but then never went back. Do they change the workouts on a regular basis?

Well I just got back from the doctor a little while ago and the cold/flu thingy is now a sinus and bronchial infection thingy.....I get to take antibiotics for 14 days and....here's the really crappy part....I get to take prednisone for 8 days. Sure hope you are feeling better soon. Prednisone is a wonder drug but the side affects suck.

Well I need to go feed the dogs. Hope you all have a GREAT day.

Hey... I just had an idea for QOTD; I'll pick someone to start. At the end of their post they name the next person. Doesn't really need to be every day but every 2-3 would be nice. How about you go first JasonsLea.

Hmm. That doesn't sound too much different from what I'm doing. I eat an average of 1500 calories each day, with some days around 1300, and others at 1700. I only exercise 5 days a week, but according to my HRM I burn around 700 calories for each workout. I guess my body just wants to hold on to its stores!

If I do that, I should drop whatever I gain as soon as I'm off the prednisone. Should make for a depressing weigh-in for me this week though :(

I hope you feel better soon! If you can't really workout, just really be watching your food intake while you are sick so you can prevent gain. Most important thing though is getting better!

Hmm. That doesn't sound too much different from what I'm doing. I eat an average of 1500 calories each day, with some days around 1300, and others at 1700. I only exercise 5 days a week, but according to my HRM I burn around 700 calories for each workout. I guess my body just wants to hold on to its stores!

Well, it depends on your bmr. Have you checked on what your minimum calories a day intake should be? Because, you need to stick around that, without going over because obviously, you need to make a deficit.

Cakses, nice to hear from you. You had us all worried there for a while. Please keep chatting with us even if you are too late to sign up for the Challenge.

QOTD1: What is your goal and why are you doing this Challenge?
I participated in the last Challenge as a member of the Red Team and really enjoyed the online friendships we made, the support we gave each other and the things we learned from each other. I hope that will continue. It has also been helpful having a team to be accountable to for my weight loss efforts. I am not going to put myself under too much pressure by stating a specific number as my goal this time round. My goal is to lose weight healthily and steadily in a manageable and sustainable way and to be more accepting of myself as I am and stop beating myself up because my body doesn't lose weight at the rate I would like it to!

QOTD2: What is your favorite workout?

I love exercise (probably too much!) but my favourites are the group fitness classes I attend and in particular Body Pump, Body Attack, Body Combat and Body Balance. I also like walking, jogging, cycling and swimming.

QOTD2: What is your favorite workout?

i'd have to say that i like to mix it up. walk or jog on the treadmill or outdoors is always good. i'm starting to play tennis with my best friend, which is fun and mildly amusing because we're not so good at it, but it gets us moving. and i'm also a big fan of the biggest loser workout dvds.

once i lose a little more weight i will be signing up for a gym membership. i really need to work on strength training.

Mommy- Go ahead and get Shred. It is tough, but it gets easier every time you do it. What I couldn't do a year ago, I can do now. I love all her DVD's.

Cruise- We can struggle together.

Did BL Bootcamp yesterday. My entire lower half aches. Sitting or standing is a major event today. So what do my buddy and I do today.... a friggin 5K. Man it was not fun. I was dragging myself along. Thank God she was there pushing me along.

Tomorrow is my official weigh-in at home. It doesn't look good. I was still up at 191.2 today. Don't know what is going on. I never do though.

QOTD: What is your favorite workout?

I have FitTV and a few months ago I DVR'd this Total Body Sculpt Workout with Gilad. I love it. It's basically 15 mins of upper body exercises with free weights, then 20 mins of cardio, followed by 15 mins of abs/lower body exercises.I love it, plus Gilad is kinda corny so I get to laugh as well.

I need to dvr some good cardio... good idea

I dug out the ol' Wii Fit today. ^_^

I dragged mine out the other day, I like whe the boxing dude says " FIGHT THE FAT " LOL!

Luckybustert Hope you start feeling better, I just had a bout of that a few weeks ago, it isn't fun.

QOTD ~ What is your favorite workout?
Like so many others I'm not a big fan of working out, but I guess My favorite would be walking outside, I live on a farm so I have some quiet gravel roads to walk on, and also some killer hills in the pasture.

Today I had my first leaf lettuce from my garden, I added some cut up radish and some fresh dill and it was good. I spent over an hour weeding today, I'll need to spend a lot more time with the hoe tomorrow, I hate water grass.

Well, you should be losing then if you are workout out and all... if you get stuck though for more than a week, take a couple days and eat a lot like 2,000 cal and then hit right back into your calories and workouts with intensity. I did this a few weeks ago myself. So weird how our bodies work with weight loss.

QOTD 2

I love being outside. I don't really like "working out" but love being active in the great outdoors. Way back when I used to hike in Poudre Valley every weekend, and cross country ski every weekend. Now, not so much. Lately though on my day off with the baby I try to walk for a few hours with him in the Ergo carrier as "weight" as it were. I am already seeing a bit of a difference. I keep saying that I am going to go to the gym after work but once I finally get the baby down I feel like a bath and bed for myself. My goal for next week when I get back from my managers meeting in Vancouver is to go to the gym after the baby is up at 5:30 am, rather than back to sleep.

QOTD 3

I am LOUSY at holding myself accountable. I make a lot of excuses. My husband, god bless him, is a bit of enabler, especially with the way that he cooks. This kind of a situation is a much better way for me to stay accountable, so thank you to all of you ladies for giving me that avenue to improve my lifestyle.

Thought I better pop in before Mack and I got started on another three day weekend. I love that he works 9/80's. He's golfing this morning, I'm shopping. Tomorrow we are going to Long Beach for the Scuba Show and Sunday we will have friends over for a little pool party and BBQ.

QOTD: Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?

Originally I wanted to get healthy after a visit with my grandson back in November but now I continue because it just feels good and I LOVE being active.

I just booked my first Alaskan cruise and the tours I have planned (8 mile hike, kayaking, and white water rafting) I would have NEVER done at my starting weight. Speaking of that cruise it is in August (12-19) is there anyone that would like to volunteer to post numbers that week? I have everything in a spreadsheet so no number crunching.

Well I need to get my workout in before I get busy. Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll try to check in at least once.

Everyone here on 3FC is a huge motivator, especially when I see before/after pictures on the goal thread. I also try to motivate myself, but it gets hard sometimes.

QOTD: Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?

I may seek encouragement and validation from others, but I'm really the only one who can motivate myself to do anything. It doesn't matter what it is, it's just not going to happen until I'm ready and willing to make a change. I'll use when I quit smoking 8 years ago as an example. I did a lot of half-hearted attempts to quit when the ex or the kids would complain about it, but the day I decided I seriously wanted to quit I set them down and didn't look back....cold turkey. As far as weight loss is concerned, I'm thinking I've used my weight the past couple of years to either not feel so small and powerless (sounds weird) or to ward off sexual attention (also very weird for me). And I think I'm ready to move past that now. Finally.

I would say I mainly motivate myself.. but I have lots of support from my DH and my DS, plus my mother and brother said that they have seen such a change in me that they have also started a lifestyle change, and that motivates me to keep going for them.

Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?
well first of all I find motivation/inspiration here on 3FC. I love hearing how well everyone is doing and reading the post especially the goal/mini-goal threads. Somedays when I feel discouraged I log on read a few post and instantly remember why I am doing this. I am doing this for me. I have been overweight most of my adult life and have always wanted to loose. I have tried a number of "quick fixes" and had some gains/loss. I decided this was it I either shut up and loose or shut up and stay the same. I obviously chose the first and am in it for the long run. Just like everyone else I wish The weight would come off quicker, and exercising was easier and that oreos could be counted as a vegetable but sadly loosing weight is just like motherhood- the hardest thing you will ever do, but the rewards are more than worth it and again like motherhood this healthy lifestyle is something I will try to do well everyday for the rest of my life.

Sorry for the book

So good to see an active thread. :D

Favorite Workout: I love my BL dvds, especially the yoga. I also like walking and now that it's nice out I can go to the park and walk along the river or go out to our property and hike it, it was some really decent hills.

Motivation: I do motivate myself but it doesn't last long. So being in a challenge and reading how everyone is doing motivates me.

Cakes~ good to see you, hope life gets more simple for you!

Lucky~ hope you get to feeling better soon!!

I too thought the challenge officially started on 1 June so I've not been going full force on the working out, been out of that routine for the last 8wks and easing myself back in. I will take the idea of planning out workouts for the month of June though. I have a mini calendar that I put stickers on the days I complete my workouts, that's a moviator too. I do plan to walk 100 miles for June, averages 3.3 miles a day.
Well gotta go do some domestic goddess stuff and errands. Have a beautiful Friday and I'll talk to ya'll later on.

Hi All,
QOTD3: Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?
I guess I have to join all the self motivaters, I love my family, and my DH is somewhat helpful, but he has never had to lose much weight and doesn't understand the addictions involved. I love coming here and getting the support also.

I spent over 2hours hoeing and weeding in the garden this afternoon, I'm dirty, sweaty and sore from it. This was on top of over an hour yesterday. I'm counting it as exercise because there is a lot of bending and pulling involved, but my garden is looking real good, and I'm going to have lots of fresh healthy veges this summer.
YTomorrow I'm going to start making shorts and a summer dress for DD, I got the cutest fabric on sale, enough to make 2 or 3 outfits for her.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I would have to say I motivate myself most days. I'm finally to point where I realize no one is going to lose the weight for me, I am the one that has to do the work. Why did you join this challenge and what is your goal.
I joined this challenge because I like challenges, they help keep me accountable, & I figure all of you can too! Right?? :) And I like to help other people get to their goals! My ultimate goal is to lose 15 more pounds!

What is your favorite workout?
Right now it's Gold's Gym on the Wii. It's boxing!

Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?
Sometimes I can motivate myself, but other times I need people to help me. My husband does a pretty good job when I tell him I need help! And just being on this site again has motivated me A LOT!

I need motivation. I want to lose weight. I want to be healthier. I want to shop in regular stores. I get inspired from many of you on this site. But, it's like I'm missing something, something to get me going full force. I do pretty good for a time then I just quit. What's wrong with me?

QOTD3: Do you motivate yourself or does someone/something else do it for you?

A little bit of both for me. I do motivate myself. but my mother also motivates me to stay on track. like if she sees that I'm on a binge she will stop me and say to me "do you really need that extra cookie or slice of cake?" and that gets me to stop and think and i say to myself i don't need that extra slice of cake.

I also stay motivated by looks at the goal photo album here. when i look at people's before and after pics i know that i can reach my goal but i just have to believe it. sometimes i feel like i'll never be thin but then when i see that many people have reached their goal i say to myself i don't have to be fat.

Motivation- I am really good at motivating myself. Like others. I do enjoy the encouragement I get from others. Today I need all the encouragement I can get. Here's why.

I normally gain during my mid-cycle time. It has been getting worse and worse. Mid cycle should have been around the 15th. I didn't gain then. This week I have gained 4.4 pounds. I will have to post a gain for the entire month of May. I got to my lowest ever, but now I am way up. I am frustarted beyond belief and don't have a clue what to do about it.

Morning ladies.... Hope you all have had a good weekend. Don't forget that your WI needs to be posted before 11:59pm (EST) tomorrow (Monday).

TOM decided to show up this morning so the scales have stalled at 148.6. I was really hoping to be back down to my low of 146 before WI tomorrow but that's not going to happen.

We are suppose to have friends over today for a little pool party/BBQ but we have had the strangest weather here in the desert for the last couple of days. Usually we would not see rain until late fall/winter but the last couple of days we have had clouds that have built into nice little thunder heads, mostly over the nearby hills (old timers call them hills I call them mountains). We have had very little rain and unfortunately the lighting did spark a couple fires. Like I said it's a really weird weather pattern we have been in. In the five years I have lived up here in the high desert I have only seen one other thunder storm.

The dive show yesterday was lots of fun..... toys for every girl and boy (very expensive toys). Luckily we got out without spending a dime. We also packed a cooler so the Outback next door was not a temptation.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend ladies. This weeks challenge is going to be an exercise challenge.

Well girls after gaining 4.4 pounds this past week, I went down a little today. I was all the way up to 193. Today I was 191.6. I am hoping to lose a little more before posting weight tomorrow. I have 45 pounds left to lose and it has become a huge battle. I have no idea what to expect for this challenge. It is a crap shoot, at best.

Good luck with weigh-in.

I got bit by the "greasy onion ring bug" yesterday (on top of being on the prednisone, which delightfully [a little sarcasm there] turns me into the goodyear blimp!) so I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in either! The good news is that even though I veered off course yesterday, I'm right back on plan today. Starting to feel better....not coughing or blowing my nose near as much (sorry, TMI, I know)....but really tired. Am planning to start my workouts tomorrow.

Hi All,
I hopw everyone had a great weekend, I think DD is trying to get me fit this summer, she is wanting to walk with me and then she is pushing me to jog. She will be 8 in a few days and can run circles around me. Today we walked to the cemetary and once trough it and back, aboout 2 miles total, and jogged the distance between electric poles several times on the way back. I'm glad she wants to be active this summer. I also want to take the water aerobics classes at our local pool, they are $2 per class and twice a week, I should be able to do that. It had been a while since I've done much walking, but it wasn 't very hard to get the 2 miles in, I'll need topush it farther.

Vixjean: Doyou have a garden? I have potatos, tomatos, peas, green beens, egggplant, peppers, cabbage, leaf lettuce, basil, and radishes planted and have a grape tomato plant, zuccini, yellow squash, and cantalope yet to plant. We are all ready eating lettuce and radishes.

Mtiger: My weight has been all over the place too, I just keep plugging. Good Luck

Luckybustert: I know when I'm sick I still want the comfort foods to make me feel better, just put the onion rings in that category and write it off to being sick and start over again after.

Everyone Have a great week.
