Hey Team! Now that we have our team assignments finalized, do any of our new members have a suggestion for a team name? So far we have:
Blue Badgers
Blue Jays
Blue Birds
Blue Belles
Blue Bandits
Blue Babes
Now for the first Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge? (that can be answered in pounds or as a specific accomplishment)
My goal is to get below 145.5, which would put me in the healthy BMI range. Additionally I'd really like to lose 1% of my body weight each week.

Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge?
I mostly signed up to keep me motivated and moving now that the kids will be home all summer and I'll be in a state of constant change- something that can easily derail healthy habits.
I'd love to lose 18 lbs. by Sept. 10th (just after the challenge ends). I have 18 lbs. to go in order to have lost 50 lbs. in a year. I know that's slow going compared to many but will be an amazing accomplishment for me. In order to do that, I'll have to 'kick it up a notch' this summer.
Since many of the people who commit to this challenge will drop out before completing the session, I also want to just be a finisher. A small goal but actually more important to long term success than having big losses.
Bindershubs: he said his goal is to lose at least 18 lbs. and get that pesky '3' off the scale as well as improve his cardio health.

I think they are all cute ideas, I'm not so creative, but out of the list Blue Belles is growing on me the most.
QOTD: My first big mini goal was to be down to 250 so that would be completely awesome to happen by the end of the challenge. I hovered between 245 and 260 from jr. high until about 2 years ago which I was about 23. At that weight I was obviously still very overweight, but I could do things, I worked at a camp hiking about 10 miles a day just to get from point around everywhere because it was so spread out. I even did a 7 mile backpacking trip. I want to be able to move like that again.
As for week to week, I just really want to stay on target! I am getting better every day, learning from my choices and I just want to continue making good choices... results on the scales wouldn't hurt either ;)
I am very excited for this, thank you for setting it up!

Dear Blue Team:
Your Team Leader is an idjit. I screwed up the weigh-ins for the challenge in the weigh-in thread. I've fixed the template and all of the weigh-in posts so far. Just so you know, the first weigh-in is due before 11:59PM (EST) June 1st, not June 8th. :o

Blue Belles
Blue Babes
Now for the first Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge? (that can be answered in pounds or as a specific accomplishment)
I vote for one of the two above.
My challenge goal is to finish lighter than I came in. I've had trouble in the past with either giving up or missing deadlines.
I also have a personal exercise challenge for the summer. My best friend came up with a plan for us to do an 8 mile run Labor Day (http://www.runmackinac.com/39th_Annual_Mackinac_Island_Eight_Mile_Run___Walk. htm) weekend. I am not an exerciser at all so this is serious stuff for me. I am on week 3 of my training with 15 weeks to go. I have a feeling I'm going to need every one of those weeks, lol.

Hello Team! It's so good to be wearing my blue t-shirt again :D.
Happy to see all the returning bluesers and welcome to all the newbies!
Let's rock this challenge!
Now for the first Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge? (that can be answered in pounds or as a specific accomplishment)
I try to generally not set goals in numbers because my body just does what it decides to do but, I would like to at least match the 11 lbs I lost on the previous challenge.
Also, exercise is the toughie for me, so I would like to keep up with the exercising and making it a routine.
I already mentioned in the other thread that I like the Blue Babes name, Blue Badgers is also cute.
Looking forward to chatting with you all in the upcoming weeks!

Good Afternoon Everyone! This will be my 3rd BLC. The first one I completed but then the last one I dropped out. It was tax season, which is my busy season at work. I am an assistant at an Accounting firm. So I just had too much on my plate. I'm hoping to stay with this challenge the whole time and to finally get to Onderland. The lowest I have been was 204 back in December then I regained everything back.
As for the team name I like Blue Belles that one kind of caught my eye.
Well have a great day everyone!!!

Hey Team! Now that we have our team assignments finalized, do any of our new members have a suggestion for a team name?
I have a suggestion...
BLUE BOMBSHELLS
just a thought. Off of the initial list, I would vote for the Blue Belles.
...Since many of the people who commit to this challenge will drop out before completing the session, I also want to just be a finisher. A small goal but actually more important to long term success than having big losses.
Bindershubs: he said his goal is to lose at least 18 lbs. and get that pesky '3' off the scale as well as improve his cardio health.
Binder, I am one of those people who have not made it to the finish YET! This time is the one. Last round I fell out due to injury, and my first BL challenge I tried harder to keep up with the posts than to lose weight. Got my head on straight now ready to do the dang thang! Also wish I would have gotten BF involved here! I think it would have been a kick!
Okay Blue QOTD: I would like to lose 25lbs. Thats less than 2 a week and I need to get the weight off. I feel fantastic about this challenge ladies! Lets do it!!!

I too prefer Blue Belles or Bombshells I think.........
QOTD: I just want an extra incentive to stick with my program. I want something that will motivate me as it gets hotter and hotter outside to keep moving and working out. Obviously, I also want to lose weight, 25 lbs at least!

Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge?
I definately want to reach my goal by the time this challenge is over. Last challenge the weight was an up and down thing. If I don't reach my goal by the end of the challenge I want to have lost a total of 5 lbs every month. This challenge will give me motivation to stay on track.

QOTD: I want to be at goal by the end of this challenge. And I want to lose at least half of that by July 12 (DS's wedding date).
Blue Team Name: Blue Belles
I love the name Blue Belles because it can be a great play on words. My dad planted the flower Bluebells in his yard when he was a boy. My sister lives in the same house that Dad was born in and that we grew up in as children. The Blue Bells are still there and I have transplanted some in my yard and so the flowers keep growing. They are such resilient little flowers and always come back even when neglected. A "Belle" of course is a woman who is a great beauty just like the flower. We are like the flower. Some of us have been neglecting ourselves but we are resilient and are bouncing back, taking care of our bodies and turning into "belles" (which we all are actually, except for "bindershubs" and we'll not hold that against him,)
From the Merriam-Webster Online: Belle: a popular and attractive girl or woman ; especially : a girl or woman whose charm and beauty make her a favorite <the belle of the ball>
Anyway that's my 2 cents for the day. Have a good day everyone.

I like all the suggestions, so I think we'll be democratic and set up a poll. Right after I figure out how to do that again. :D
Okay, I figured it out. Voting is anonymous, and you can only vote once. The poll will be open for two days, or until a majority of our team has voted. So if one of the choices gets over 20 votes before the two days are up, that's the name.

Now for the first Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge? (that can be answered in pounds or as a specific accomplishment)
personally my goal is to be overweight and get out of the obese category. but since that is only 8 lbs away i'm gonna say my goal is to lose 20 lbs. also, i want to be able to run a 10 minute mile. right now its just under 14 minutes...but working on it.

Hi everyone -
I haven't participated in a challenge for a few cycles, but I've been on the red team a few times. Nice to see lots of new faces on the blues.
My goal for this challenge is to lose about 30lbs to get me closer to where I managed to get last summer with my weight loss. (I was down to about 190 from 302)
Backsliding isn't fun, but I'm ready to get on with the journey.

My challenge goal is to finish lighter than I came in.
That's basically mine, too, but I think I'm going to use 170 as my "benchmark". That's about 13 pounds in 14 weeks, so I'm being conservatively hopeful. If I make it beyond that in that time, I'll be thrilled. :D
I also want to get my mojo back with exercise. :carrot: I lost about 30 pounds in 2007, which came off pretty rapidly, gained 10 back in the summer of 2008 and have basically hovered there ever since. I've seen that the way I eat now is sufficient for me to maintain so I think I'm pretty on track with that (not that improvements can't be made but at least I see I haven't gained) so I think the difference for me has to come more from exercising.
I was reading a bit about kettle bells and Kettlenetics online and it sounded like fun so I ordered the Kettlenetics kit from QVC last night. I've also been looking at speed ladder drills. Has anybody used or seen speed ladders used for cardio exercise by "average folks" as opposed to athletes or sport teams?

I voted for Blue Bombshells. It just has a good ring to it.
And my goal for this is to love my body for once for my last year of high school. I got the "Freshman 15" (or 20 in my case) my first year of high school, and I only lost a few pounds since then. Now my junior year is ending and I don't want to be remembered as the fat girl, at least for my last year. I also want this as a birthday present to myself (I hope to reach my goal weight of 115 by December 11, my birthday).
I also want to add how happy I am to be on the Blue team! :)

Heya teamies! Great to meet you all, and I look forward to getting to know you as we go through this challenge. This is my first BL challenge, and I'm hoping my current excitement and motivation carries me through the 14 weeks.
I'm a sucker for a pun, so my vote for team name has to be Blue Belles. I'm a fan of Blue Bombshells too though. Happy whatever really :)
My challenge goal is to get into the healthy BMI range, which for me is below 160, so about a 13 lb loss. Hopefully doable! But I'll take any loss I get. I also have a fitness related goal, which is to run 10 km in under 1 hour. Striving for this goal should help me achieve the other goal I hope.
Here's to the blue team losers!

Glad to be on your team...LET'S GO BLUE!!!
Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge?
I would like to reach my goal on my ticker by my birthday in August (that would be about 1# a week). Definitely doable.
I would like to see some sort of resemblance of 6 pack abs by then as well (I'm closer to this then I was 3.5 months ago when I started this journey).
At the end, I would like to see the 120's (even though it will be a struggle with these last 10 lbs, I think I can do it).
:goodluck:GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!!:goodluck:

Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge?
hmmmm....I think I would be happy to have lost 20 lbs. by the end of the challenge, but really, just have lost something would be great :)
I want to lose 15-20lbs this summer, just in time to get back to school. I eventually want to lose more, but I figure this is a good start. Joined this challenge because I wanted to be motivated and now I don't have a good excuse to just sit around all day - you people are depending on me!
I vote for Blue Birds! Specifically because I love birds. Bird is also another word for a woman

Hey girls!
Just checking in! My BF finally opened the Wii Fit we bought back in September. I did 30 minutes of yoga and balance. I dig it! Wish I had opened it when I bought it!!!! There is an air of disgust in my house right now. BF and I are both fed up with our weights. I'm hoping that, much like when we quit smoking, doing the weight loss thing together will keep us both motivated.
But if he bails, I have all of you!!!!!!! True Blue! I am really looking forward to celebrating our first round of successes, whether its scale numbers, pant size decreases, whatever. I'm ready for some positive new in this world..... lets do it! Lets bring it for each other! Its time to rock!
Have a great night Bluesies!

Hi ladies!
Today has been a bad day, food-wise. We had a power outage at work all morning, which completely threw my plans out the window. Hard to eat yogurt for breakfast when the fridge isn't on for 8 hours, or microwave low-point soup when the power is off! Oh well, right back at it tonight and tomorrow!
Now for the first Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge? (that can be answered in pounds or as a specific accomplishment)
I would love to be at or under 180lbs, hitting the gym 2-4 times a week, and finish off the challenge!

3) i want to be able to run a 5K or more and have nice runners legs shaping up.

Blue Team QOTD: What is your goal for this challenge?
1. To lose 15 lbs. of fat
2. gain 5 lbs. of muscle-to do that I am committing to BFL weightlifting 2x per week.
3. Work out for 1-1.5 hrs a day once school is out on June 19. 30mins-1 hr until then.
4. Write down every morsel that goes into my mouth.
So glad to be back on the blue team. Unfortunately I gained a few lbs back since the end of the last one. I have been playing with the same 2-3 lbs for about 2 months now. Here's to looking forward and finally getting this weight off!
Blue Team ROCKS!!!!

Why is it that every bit of good news is overshadowed by bad news?
Good News: For 2 days I've been below 150 on the scale, first time in at least 10 years. :D
Bad News: Heating element went out on my dryer...and it seems like the part has been discontinued. :stress:
I guess it's time to invest in a new clothesline. DH hates line dried clothes, but my electric bill will thank me.

Good Morning Blue Team. I was up early this morning to finish packing DS's lunch (too tired last night) and stayed up. I had an enchilada casserole in the oven ready for lunch by 8:30 am and have cleaned up the kitchen as much as I could with limited cupboard space.
Dixied, sorry about your dryer but so wonderful about your weight. I use a clothesline during warm weather but I don't like line dried clothes either. I try to get out the towels and sheets but DH always beats me to the dryer and hangs out the clothes and he's not too careful how they're hung. Lop-sided t-shirts are the norm in the summer. :D
I did a pre-weigh in this morning and I've got 2 pounds lost so far. Hope that hangs on until Saturday morning for my regular WI. I'm still not exercising as regularly as I'd like but I've been on a baking marathon for DS's wedding in July and have been so tired after standing most of the day rolling pastry and the like.
Today I take mom to the doctor to get her meds renewed. We'll probably take a short trip to the grocery stores as they both have complimentary wheel chairs. Mom is 92 but still enjoys a shopping spree. Tomorrow we go on our bi-weekly trip to town with our friend who helps with the wheel chair and such. So I might not get back until tomorrow night but who can tell what happens when I hear the siren call of 3FC.

Dixied, sorry about your dryer. We came home Monday to a flooded kitchen. A part in the fridge had broken and now we're going to have to replace at least part of the laminate flooring as it's bubbled up and warped!
but, on the upside I lost 2 pounds since the 17th so that's something.
OT, does anyone here make their own yogurt or bread?

Good News: For 2 days I've been below 150 on the scale, first time in at least 10 years. AWESOME!
Bad News: Heating element went out on my dryer...and it seems like the part has been discontinued. Have you checked eBay? That is where I found my fridge shelf that no one else had.
I finally woke up to see something under 235. I was starting to get a little concerned. I started wogging a few weeks ago and have a horrible tendency whenever I start exercising to eat back all my calories. I have been trying so hard not to and the scale finally caught up. I'll have to do my next few wogs on the treadmill unless I decide to venture out in the rain. Neither option appeals to me at all. I'm loading up the iPod with some new songs though so maybe I can tolerate the treadmill if DH can keep the kids busy.

Hi wants! This is my first challenge, too. :)
If you haven't already, go into the Blue Team Weigh-In topic up top and create your weigh-in post by copying and pasting dixied's weekly weigh-in chart. Then each week before the deadline in parenthesis, edit the post to add your weight for that week. The challenge goes for 14 weeks and ends on August 31.
I'm curious (and a little scared, lol!) :o to see what challenges are in store! :p

Busy Morning here girls! I have caught up on reading the thread since my last post, doing the multiquote button thing, then I realized, that I can relate to every single post!!!!!
I NEED to stick with/finish a BL challenge (MMavie/Bejeweled)
I would love to be at or under 180! (Practice)
My goal weight overall is the weight that I gave birth at 20years ago! (Instiches)
I want to run a 5k!
My vacation home completely flooded this weekend! (melwolfe)
I get so fired up when I come here and see that we are all just energetic and motivated girls trying to swim out of our bad habits and the consequences of them while we dream about better "us"s and deal with the daily life stuff! We can do it. We are strong, smart and determined! Lets just do it!

I'm definitely with you Nixmom, bring them on! I'm so excited, its my first challenge too and I'm interested it what it will bring.
What is it with everything breaking? Luckily we haven't had any problems, but our neighbor lost all power in her house last night so we have extension cords through the house to keep her fridge running.
Dixie-I hope you can find something for your dryer! Definitely try ebay, maybe even craigslist, there is always random stuff poping up on there.
Now that classes are done I am hoping I will be even better about working out and eating well because I won't have distractions and excuses. I was SO bad during finals week, but we won't talk about that.... To make sure I don't get lazy on the food aspect, I spent all day yesterday preping for meals for the week as well making a big batch of yummy chili so I can freeze it. Plus I used up my CSA fruits and made a big fruit salad to store. It gets so darn hot here that you don't want to go anywhere near the appliances! Any good suggestions for good no or little cook meals?

Gekster crockpot meals are good. They don't really heat up the house and most are all in one meals. Pot roast, potatoes, carrots, onions all in one pot and then freeze the leftovers into individual servings for later. Spaghetti, again, you can make a big batch and freeze into individual servings. Homemade beef stew. Baked potatoes in the microwave.......ok, I'm hungry so am going to go eat lunch.

Wow! I'm gone for a few days and look! You guys started this thread and filled 3 pages! LOL!! Yay, tho! Because I love all the excited posts here. Glad everyone is thrilled we have finally started now! I am too! :cb:
Hmm, intro... I'm Selina, I have 3 kids, I'm married to a busy guy so I have my kids mostly here with just me (unless its sports season spring and fall where he coaches each of them for their teams so the baby and I stay home during practices to catch up work), it is going to be summer and I'm determined to stay gone, to parks, etc. and stay active with them all summer, we have a business I do the paperwk for so I stay pretty swamped. :faint:
Started the business last season and was so busy had to drop out but stopped to say hi sometime. I missed everyone. :( Did a TBL here before that, not sure which one, and came in 2nd or 3rd out of our blue team members so felt good about that. :broc:
Glad this is starting and I'm going to try very hard to stay in and also do the next one in the fall when the show is going on because I have a lot to lose. Trying to keep myself as at least ONE of the priorities around here. Difficult to see ppl who were on those old challenges with me here on the site AT THEIR GOAL WEIGHT!!! But very inspirational too. They did it. They did these challenges, got to goal and are there now!!! We can do that too!!! It is hard to find time for me, but I'm gonna dang sure try to. Yay me!!! :goodscale:
Good luck to all of you Blue Bombshells!!! We are gonna kick butt on this challenge!!! :kickbutt:
My goal is to stay in til the end, and Lose at least 33 lbs (I know it sounds like alot but I weighed around the same in that one challenge and lost that much so probably will do ok.)-end the challenge at 197, which brings me to 80 lbs lost since my highest weight of 277. If I'm not there, then at the very least I want to see 207 or less. That gives me a 10 lb range. :goodscale:
Mini goals for challenge are drink more water, move more every day, add in weights to build muscles and keep my food whole and healthy and average 1200 cals a day, sometimes more if I'm really hungry that day. Some days I don't even want 1200. Just hafta see. (I know it's low, but my body doesn't lose if I stay higher. I can go higher but can't be every day.) Once you've lost alot you will also know what to expect your body to do on certain foods, calories, what amount of water you need, when to weigh, what salt will do to you, etc. It's interesting to learn about yourself. It's a study of YOU. :book2:
My doc recently has me on low thyroid meds. I didn't even ask her to check that. Just wanted to be sure I'm not pre-diabetic last time I was there, she did some tests and found it low. So she is testing this dosage to see if it helps. Have to go back soon to see if she needs to up it. Hope it doesn't affect me in a bad way while trying to lose. Don't really expect it to help much bc its a low low dose now. We'll see.
Hugs to each of you newbies and to all returning teammates!!! So good to see you all.
Be back later today I'm sure, Selina

Hey there everyone! I hope everyone is having a great day!
Here's a funny story:
It was raining on Monday night when I wanted to go out walking, so I thought I would jump on my cheap-O treadmill (I got this for about $200 at Target about 9 years ago) and do a half hour while listening to my ipod.... I went about 15 minutes and BAM! I heard something that sounded like a big bang and some smoke came out of it and it died! :o
I rarely use the stupid thing because it's been in storage for a couple of years and after about 15 minutes everytime, I would smell a burning smell and would quit. LOL So I've just been walking/jogging outside instead.
Guess I'll be making a trip to the dump soon!
~Suzie...who wishes she could afford to buy a new one! I guess I'll just have to resort to doing it the old fashioned way! :D
Hi everyone!
How's everyone doing so far?
I know it's just started, but I'm curious.
I have to study for my Psychology final which is next week, and my History, Lit, and Algebra finals which are the week after next, so I'm kinda busy. Plus I'm getting depressed that most of my friends are graduating next week, so I have to take extra caution on overeating.
BUT! I have discovered that my treadmill has a nice bookstand that I can use to read my notes and stuff while walking, so I'm still getting a good workout in. All the stress about my finals and such keeps my mind off the fact that I walked 4.2 miles, so I guess that's good. :D

I had to get on the treadmill today due to the stupid rain. I am way to wimpy to run in 50* rain. Bah. At least it is finally over and done with for today. I'll probably end up on there for the next week or so as we are expected to have rain 6/7 days.
Food is perfectly on plan for today. :)
DH is still out of work after being laid off last week. The kids are driving me absolutely nuts being cooped up in the house. I think I'm gonna go sneak the stretchy bands into the bathroom and do a little something while everyone thinks I am getting ready to shower.
What are you doing to stay on plan today???

Today is going good. I have eaten totally on plan but I have been having indigestion for about 4 days now. I took some pepcid when I got home from work but my chest is burning. I have been drinking some cran-tangerine juice ( I do 16 oz of water and 4 oz of juice about 3 times a day). I think that might be the culprit. I don't know if I will be eating anymore today, hopefully this pill will work quickly.
What are you doing to stay on plan today??? Writing down what I eat and working out tonite at 6.

Hiya!
Quick flyby since I have to get out of here and do some shopping..we are out of veggies :(
Dix: WTG on the weight!, too bad about your dryer though
melwolf: Congrats on the 2 lbs! Keep it up :D
Selina: Isn't it good to see all this activity on the thread? I love it!
zinke: You did your workout and that's what counts. Yay!
Suzie: Sorry to hear about your threadmill.
SillyGirl: Good luck with your exams. Remember you can always come here for some support when you are feeling stress and want to overeat ;)
Mary: Sorry that you are not feeling so well, take care chickie! Your weight and mine are so close and have been since the end of last challenge, so let's make it into the 160's together!
What are you doing to stay on plan today??
I am keeping active. Already finished my workout and now I am going for a walk. Drinking lots of water to distract my mouth and hands. And not buying anything that's not on my plan.
I just got the new EA Active game and I love it! I think I will make it my main form of exercise for the next 30 days.

This is what I've been doing for about 10 days now. My family was all into it at first...then they started slacking off....
Went by myself last night and had a good time groovin' to my ipod for about 40 minutes. :D
I'm excited for another challenge! I've been avoiding the scale lately, which means I haven't been doing to well. BUT everytime I step on it, I'm within a 2 lb range, just maintaining.
I'm an American living in South Korea, been here 9+ months and I'll be going home for a month in September before moving to Australia! I wanted to really wow my friends and family by losing weight while I was gone a year and so far I've just lost 20 lbs in 9 months. I really want to put pedal to metal and lose another 20--or more!
My goals for this challenge are to lose 23-26 lbs. Losing 23 lbs puts me at a healthy BMI, losing 26 puts me in the 120s, which was the lowest I've been able to maintain (from 1999-2002).
My other goals are to regularly workout. I just got My Fitness Coach for Wii and I like it. I want to follow their recommendations for exercise... so far they recommend 30 mins 5 days a week. I also want to FINALLY complete the 30 Day Shred this summer. I have tried and failed many times.. my best was 17 days. It was the thing that got me started on weight loss last fall and I want to see it through to the end.
What am I doing to stay on plan today? I'm doing My Fitness Coach and tracking on the Daily Plate.
Nice to meet everyone!

05-27-2009, 11:15 PM
I'm definitely with you Nixmom, bring them on! I'm so excited, its my first challenge too and I'm interested it what it will bring.
....
Gekster and I are fired up people. Challenge it up! Gek - am most successful with prep prepped stuff too. My fav is ground turkey taco meat. Throw it in salads, on a baked tater, in green leaf lettuce with a splash of avocado and pico de gallo. Its all easy to make in bulk and eat in bits!
I had to get on the treadmill today due to the stupid rain....
You crack me up! Sneaking to the bathroom to exercise! I love it! For me to stay on plan I was in the same mindset as me4life..... (plus SoCal is blessed with fair weather even when its bad weather, so no reason for me there... dang it;))
What are you doing to stay on plan today?? i'm walking even if i don't want to, i've informed my bf he is to make me walk with him every night wether i want to or not.
I dreaded going tonight. But it turned out to be a great walk and talk. Something we dont get out of our environment to do much. Glad I am not the only one pushing the BF to push me!
I also want to FINALLY complete the 30 Day Shred this summer. I have tried and failed many times.. my best was 17 days. It was the thing that got me started on weight loss last fall and I want to see it through to the end. Joyra... I think I have managed 3 days (and not even in a row) but would like to get through 30DS too. I need a couple weeks to get back in the groove, but if you wanna PM me when you are ready to go for it, I'll do it with ya! Keep each other accountable?
~Suzie...who wishes she could afford to buy a new one! I guess I'll just have to resort to doing it the old fashioned way! :DSuz..... save your money, go earn your frugal badge, and enjoy the old fashioned way!
K ladies... off to shower, watch a little tube and gear up for a good nights sleep. Be good! Weigh In is only days away!

I went to dinner last night and had a wonderful time with an old friend.
I had NO alcohol, NO bread and NO dessert!! Yay me.
I luv ground turkey too. I mix it with a couple tablespoons of horseradish and a half a handful of montreal steak seasoning. Patty it up, throw it on the grill and love it!!
To Stay OP, I plan it all out, when I am working out (5:30 although I already did my crunches) and what I am eating..trying to stay POP at least 80% of the time!

Feeling much better today. Stayed POP yesterday, calories came in at 1400 and I got my workout in. Was going to go to bed last night without filling in my calorie journal but I knew I made a promise to my team to do it so I got back out of bed and recorded everything. That is what I love about these challenges, I know you are all depending on me to do well.
Got up this morning and did a 30 min hiit on the treadmill plus I will walk tonite with my w/o buddy.
Glad to see everyone so fired up. I will catch up on personals on the weekend. I need to get to work early again today. We are having a Spring Fling on Saturday at school and I am in charge. So much left to do.
Have a great OP Thursday!!

I am excited about this challenge. I had a great day yesterday even though i didnt get to walk as much as i had planned. We had horrible rain storms move thru last night.
Time for breakfast and trying to figure out what will hit the spot and stay with me till lunch. I am about out of healthy snacks so i need to make sure my breakfast stays with me so i dont end up with a handful of something bad.
I spend an hour working in my garden last night. Squash and zuc are both blooming and I cant wait to eat the rewards!!
I run an inhome daycare...so I will have to think hard about the childcare badge. I had 4 kids age 4 and under yesterday. I normally just have 3 but kept my nephew for the day also. I am still tired today.LOL

I just am saying hi and off to do some work. Will be back this evening I'm sure. Lots to do today, take the babies with me to post office, bank, son's awards at school and then back here to finish laundry, hopefully! :yay:
I'm stalled on weightloss. I think being too low for a day or two has made it stop. :sumo: I just couldn't eat more. Haven't felt too well for a few days. Ah well, I'm still down a few so can't really complain. At least it's the right direction.

Good morning Blue! Thanks for the suggestions about meals that won't make the house into a sauna. This is my first real summer in northern california, used to live in San Diego, cherish it Nixmom, cherish it.. I didn't know real weather til I moved here! It has made my plans to go on daily walks difficult, but I am going to try tonight after it cool off a bit.
In the mean time that outside hasn't been too fun to go out to I've been doing the walking videos, only on the 1 mile as of now, but I might attempt the two mile tomorrow and see how it goes. I am also thinking I need to take a break from strength training for a bit because my back it becoming stiffer and more sore everyday lately. Maybe just stick to some yoga til it starts feeling better. I don't want to slack, but I also do not want to hurt myself!
mothermavis- Awesome contraint on going out! I can usually stay away from dessert and even alcohol, but I am usually roped in for at least one piece of that bread.
scarahjs- I've always been curious about foot tattoos, what did you get?
Everyone staying OP, great job, people who didn't, as InStitches said, today is a new today, make it count!

That's funny about the bread thing.
We went out on Friday night and I was really good getting the blackened red snapper and a side salad. No rice, nothing else. They put this cheddar cheese roll right on the plate with my snapper! MMmmmm...I made my husband take it off and eat it...I wouldn't even touch it. It was too funny...I was like... take that ... just take it...eat that...just take it! LOL

I'm in a lousy mood now because of some bad information our HR person gave me. During our last open enrollment for dental insurance I confirmed with her that orthodontists were covered. Now, the dental insurance says we don't have that coverage. What? It's a good thing she's on vacation this week. I am NOT amused! We already had regular dental thru DH, so this was just supplemental, but still it's $36 a month I'm getting no benefit out of.

Exercise has been really good for me.. After my EA Active workout I went for a long 2.5 hour walk, and today I managed about 90 min. while visiting with my friend.
Eating has been OP, we had lunch out today, but I ate a turkey sandwich with mustard and a tossed salad on the side, so I think I did pretty good.

Feeling good otherwise because summer is almost here! And I'm planning to leave the house 2 or 3 times a week at least to search out different parks for the kids to play at. Determined to keep them occupied so my house isn't a mess every day and they aren't cranky from being couped up too much!!! Hi folks!
Went to the gym last night for the first time in too long. It was good - just a quick 30mins on the treadmill. Seems that's all I have time for right now, so I will take what I can get!
We've started cleaning up our apartment so our landlord can show it. It's a pain in the neck, but it's giving me a jumpstart on packing and getting rid of extra stuff! We're moving to a smaller apartment, and I am realising we need to declutter BIG time. I hate it but it's a good thing in the long run...

My co-worker, who's on WW, had a b'day today, and several more of us are also trying to lose, so instead of the usual cake route, we ended up getting those small WW ice cream cups (chocolate fudge brownie). :p Never had one before, it was pretty good.
Ice cream's not a big temptation to me--I like it but I don't crave it. Cheese and salty snacks are my temptations. :o Actually, now I'm addicted to almonds....for the time being anyway. I tend to phase in and out of having a certain food consistently for a period of time and then move on to something else. But I figure the almonds are keeping me from worse snack food so that's good. :p
Anyway, being in the challenge is helping me to get my motivation to exercise back but I kinda feel like I'm starting almost from scratch again in terms of stamina. Not as bad as when I first started in 2007 but not as good as when I stopped either. Oh, well, all in good time, I guess. Doing something is better than doing nothing. :carrot:

Hi everyone -
I've been walking on the treadmill like mad. I know it sounds a lot but its not that different then my hours of training last summer (for some Triathlons I did) so it's not something I justr jumped into.
I don't plan on keeping up this pace but I just wanted to get a little kick start after slacking off a bit.
Food wise has been a bit harder getting back to the grindstone, but today so far so good. Can't really say that for the first part of the week though.

Who's getting some work done this morning, and then going to try to get a work out in. :D
Have a great day everyone!
Hi teammates! It feels like this has been such a hectic week. I had my little brother here all week, who is the pickiest eater on the planet I think so accommodating him for meals was interesting -- a couple of nights I just got him frozen pizzas to make himself and then made something healthier for my fiance and I.
I left him at home sleeping Sunday morning and he seemed kinda hurt when I got home that I didn't wake him up and bring him. So I brought him Monday morning -- he is not a regular exerciser and he did this goofy macho must push himself thing (and has really bad asthma and didn't tell me he didn't pack his inhaler). He ended up starting to black out on the elliptical, but once we got him hydrated, cooled down and his heart rate slowing down he was okay. But I effectively banned him from the gym til he learns how to pace himself... and brings his inhaler just in case!
Much as I LOVE having him here it was kind of nice to get back to my routine today and get out of hostess mode.... I was in such a rush to get in there (and I'm careless and clumsy fishing my card out of my purse as I hustled - sigh) so I could weigh myself before class that I literally fell on my face, gave myself a bloody nose and all and hit my cheekbone pretty hard. I'm sitting there in the cafe icing my face and all I could think about was how much of my class I was missing lol. I ended up going for the second half of it. Normally I stay after and do some more cardio on the machines but my cheek is still just very sore, so I went home to ice it some more.
So I feel like this hasn't been my very best week but hey I'm proud of myself for still losing 2.9 pounds this week and getting some exercise in today between face icing sessions lol. It REALLY is starting to get sore now ouch.
Wow this ended up being a really long post!

And I just accidently posted that before finishing it! LOL!
I WAS off to a great start but now it looks like I'm maintaining a whole bunch of water. I started weight training yesterday (Chalean Extreme) and this morning my weight was UP 2 lbs. I know it's just a water retention thing. I did NOT gain 2 lbs. overnight, but it's still a little discouraging to see the numbers move UP even if it isn't real.
How long does it take for the fluid to go back down? I did a banana smoothie for breakfast and I'm on my 3rd 32 oz. bottle of water trying to flush out the salt etc. (I ate OP yesterday but had too much salt at dinner).

Oh...I know exactly how you feel, my weight was up today as well and I am certain is all because of the extra exercise I have done.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I was asking myself the same thing this morning. I hope somebody else does!
In the meantime, I will keep drinking tons of water and maybe that'll help.

I just did my 40 min workout today. My arms and butt are killing me I totally felt the burn. Well tomorrow is weigh in and I'm scaried cuz the eat hasn't been OP that much this week. I only worked out 4xs this week instead of 5. I guess we'll see what happens. Hope everybody else is doing good. Good luck with your weigh ins.

Well I really didn't want to do anything, but I got up and did my walk anyway, I feel better for it. The weekend is here, which for me means less motivation to get moving and eat right. We might go out to the movies and do a nice rounds around the mall while there using the movie as a reward for doing what I need to.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone!!!
I'm POP today and doing well. I did my 30 mins on tmill and got all sweaty before taking my son to swim team. :( How do you all deal with having to get sweaty before leaving to go somewhere? My hair is wet and I had to just twist it up and spray it. Plus I feel gross but there is no time to shower right after I find time to exercise which is why I usually want to exercise at night before I shower. I lost lots of weight doing that. But I have found I like to do it in mid afternoon and when Pre k starts for my daughter she'll be gone to school and I'll just be with the baby from 8-11 or 12-4 or so whichever one she gets put in. I MUST use that time to exercise. So if she has morning I may could do it once they both go to school then shower before starting my day. That might work. Hafta see. :?:
Well, enough rambling, I'm off to finish computer work for now :comp:

I hate that feeling too!!! It's hard when you don't have time to shower...I hate to say it but when that happens, I take a bag to the gym with deodorant, hair spray and a bottle of spray water, a little makeup and a brush. It's quick and easy and at least I feel a little better then feeling like a gym rat!!!

Good evening all. Yesterday was a very tiring day for me. I took my mom to the clinic for a blood test and then we went to town. We left the house at 10:30 am and never got home until 6:10 pm. I was so tired I could have slept standing on my feet like a horse. I'm not sure how well I ate calorie wise as I was too tired to put anything into fitday but I don't think I did anything too drastic. Today I ate pretty good but did have a handful of French fries that the rest of the family was eating.
Tomorrow I weigh in so I'm hoping I'll see something positive on the scales tomorrow.
Great reading everyone's posts. So encouraging.

Clean house here too! 8 hours on my feet. And I still have two rooms to do. I am gonna count some time as exercise. I was sweating, for sure.
Got some other errands done too that were long over due. I'm pooped. Did Okay with food, but missing some OZ of water. Will make up for it tomorrow.
Be good to yourselves so we can have a great weigh in on Monday!
Nighters.

Wow, I really wish one of my boys still lived at home, after trying for 3hrs to download a podcast--Success!! I'm so bad at all this techno stuff, I also bought two new songs from itunes, but for some reason they are on my playlist, but not on my ipod, so strange, will have ask my youngest son tomorrow-well actually today, for some help.
I will be back later, just a quick pop in, have a great saturday, and I hope to enjoy some sunshine this weekend, 5days straight of rain, is enough.

We're practically neighbors...I'm in Harrisburg. If I was closer, I would come help with your iTunes...I'm a computer geek. None of my friends or family could believe it when I got a job in IT since I never went to school for it...I'm self taught. But the funny thing is, I am pretty good at what I do (don't know everything...yet :D) but I am a MAC lover and they are all Windoze people and they will tell me about the problems they are having of course I will say "get a MAC"....they don't listen and sometimes I will be able to help them...I don't enjoy it but I will help. And I have never owned or worked on a Windoze machine. No offense to anyone who uses Windoze machines, I am just very supportive of MACs!!! To each his own. Boy I really got off topic there... Anyway...hopefully your son can help you out!!!

Hey Jacque, I'm another computer geek, too. I dont work in the IT field, but I'm basically the go-to person at my job...it's like, ask Ellie first before we call the technician. :p
Anyway...I'm curious if you might know the answer to this. My sister (who is technically challenged) had me download songs for her new iPod shuffle. So I put over 100 songs on the thing and mailed it to her (I'm in NY, she's in FL). I told her the account I had created for her on iTunes. Now, I don't know if she's using that one or she created one of her own, but she says she has been unable to add any more songs because it tells her it will delete everything that's already on the iPod. Meanwhile, I have added songs to my iPod shuffle and never got that message. Do you think she might be doing something wrong or is the problem that her playlist was created on my computer? Like, if I were to plug my iPod into your computer and try to download, would I have the same problem she has, do you think? I also think she might be trying to download stuff outside of iTunes, as she told me about a lyrics site she loves.
Did a preview weigh-in this am (official one will be Sun am)...I'm happy. :D
I tried to do one of my old Sweatin To The Oldies tapes last night and really didn't enjoy it. He switches moves quickly and doesn't tell you what he's changing to. As much as I've always admired the work he does, I felt like I was watching a well-rehearsed choreographed routine and I was the un-coordinated newbie with two left feet. It's hard enough for me to workout watching a tv but to have to keep my eyes on it all the time while trying to keep up just wasn't doing it for me.

My spouse, bindershubs, is a computer geek too. He started as a Mac guy but in the 90's when they were at their low he had to go over to the dark side in order to have more employment opportunities.
I'm now dreading the weigh in tomorrow because of the water retention thing. I've been so good this week and yet I'll most likely have to show a freaking GAIN the first week of the challenge. Frustrating but I'll keep powering through it even if I have to be embarassed with a gain.
Bindershubs, however, who has only put in a half-arsed effort will be able to show a very nice loss. I going to whine about how much easier it is for men to lose weight. Okay, whining done. I'm glad he's losing it so I'll just shut up about it now. I suspect he will be increasing his effort in the near future though because we just got his cholesterol test back and it was BAD! The wake up siren has sounded for him. We'll both be going in for fasting cholesterol tests in a few weeks. Hopefully mine is improved a lot since I've had a much better diet for about 9 months now. I was borderline (199) last time I was checked.

One thing to check if she hasn't already would be to make sure that itunes has automatic syncing disabled (there should be an option for that in the preference settings). If she puts a device on there that has music not on the computer, the program will try to make the device resemble what's on the computer... even if that means removing things from the ipod. My best friend was having problems with things "disappearing" from her new ipod touch when she was connecting it to 3 different computers and they were all syncing up with it when it got connected.

Thanks, Somni. I just tried something. My iPod is synced with my desktop computer so I just plugged it into my notebook to see what happens and I got that message about it being able to be synced with only one library at a time. I disabled automatic syncing but all the songs on my iPod are greyed out. I can't do anything with them. The option is to either erase or transfer the purchased songs. Or my sister could always send hers back to me to add more songs, lol.

Tell your sister to plug the shuffle into her computer and then do the following:
Click "cancel" when she gets that message
Click on the ipod icon so that it shows your ipod options
Click manually manage songs and video under "options"
When she does this she will be able to click and drag any music or videos onto her ipod.
The problem is that now she won't be able to sync automatically HOWEVER, she will have your music on her ipod but not on her computer.

Hi folks!
We are having fantastic hot weather right now - it was 25C (high 70s for the Americans) and sunny yesterday! Perfect!
I went out for dinner last night and my food consumption was good - I chose very smartly. However, I drank too much, so that added up. Whoops.
Am going out for lunch today too because we have relatives visiting. I looked at the menu online and I already know what I'm going to order so that I can stay OP.
We're clearing up our apartment so our landlord can show it and we can start packing... I forgot how much of a workout a deep cleaning and packing can be! If I can't get to the gym tomorrow because of the cleaning/packing, I'm planning on 30DSing it or getting out for a quick walk.
Have a great Saturday!

Happy Weekend Team!
So far today I've ran/walked 4 miles and went thru my closet/dressers AGAIN. I've got the cast off clothing in the washer and dryer and when they finish up I'm headed to the consignment shop with them. Hopefully I can find some new capris while I'm there. I now have no capris and only athletic type shorts. I'm keeping only things that fit, this is the last of my XL and lanrger clothing. Most of what I have is a M now, but I did keep some of the stretchy L T-shirts to workout in. And my undies drawer is pathetically empty.
On the same note, I've got 4 bras to give away if anyone can wear them. 3 of them were either never worn or worn only a few times, and I have a Moving Comfort "high impact" sports bra that I wore quite a bit, but it's always been hand washed and air dried. I figure bras are too expensive to just toss in the trash if they don't fit anymore. Here's the list:
Moving Comfort Fiona Sports Bra 40D (black)
http://www.wwsport.com/Running/SKU/771660/Moving+Comfort+Fiona+Bra.aspx
Olga 42D Underwire (Butterscotch)
http://www.essentialapparel.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodshow/vid/95/catid/33?CMP=AFC-GBase
Camisole with built in shelf bra 2X (Nude) coton/lycra blend - no link available :?:
Anyway, if anyone can use any of these, let me know in a PM (guess I should add first come first serve to be fair), I'd be happy to mail them to you on Monday.
I'm off to check on my laundry. :dizzy:

Thanks, Jacque. I tried it with my notebook but the option you mentioned wasn't listed. I even checked other menus. I didn't see anything about manually managing songs. I'll ask if she sees that option but I didn't. Oh well.
Anyhoo...I did what CruiseCat suggested and the other night I took "before" pics of myself...not easy, I hate having my picture taken. If I see a difference at the end of these 14 weeks, I might have the courage to post them. :p

I also got the boutonniere for my date for prom next week.

I had a bad weekend. Was very busy yesterday. We had a Spring Fling carnival at school which I was in charge of. I had lots of crap to eat but I did run my butt off for about 5 hours so I probably burned off most of that but then I blew it today too. Back on plan tomorrow.

Yay for June 13th birthdays (That's my soon to be 20yr olds bday Selina!)
Hoorah for OP days and double WOOT WOOT for POP days!
Getting ready to take a walk with BF and the freshly bathed dog. Spent yesterday in bed with food poisoning or 24 hour bug of some sort. It was gnarly what ever it was. Trying to get my energy back up now.
Have a good night AND DONT FORGET TO WEIGH IN, BLUESERS!!!!!

Hi everyone,
It was my boyfriend's birthday this weekend so beer, ice cream and restaurant food were consumed. It's funny, I only ate about 1900 calories on his bday Saturday when we went out to eat twice and drinking (Wow!!). But yesterday on our lazy day at home, I ate over 2000. Ugh. I was really active Saturday but Sunday... not so much.
No loss or gain this week. I'm disappointed but hopefully I can catch up to where I want to be for next week.
I've been really diligently sticking to my workouts--I got "My Fitness Coach" for Wii and I love it.. except each 30 min work out only burns about 100 calories and I feel like I'm really working hard those 30 mins!
dixied, I love getting rid of too-big clothes! And fitting into the small stuff I've been saving. I'm wearing this little cropped jacket today that I bought a couple years ago and never really was able to wear until about two weeks ago. It's a little snug still but my bf tells me it looks fine.. and he's generally pretty honest.
Have a good week everyone!

I was horrible the past two days. Stress got the better of me, but I am determined to make June great. I am starting it off by going to the university gym. I've started at this campus 2 semesters ago and the gym is free to students, I've just been too intimidated to go. But first thing in the morning I am getting up and going. It will be a mon, wed, fri schedule for me to go because well, it is summer and what else is there for me to do really? haha.
Hope you all had a good weekend, and better yet, stayed POP (great job Selina!)

Good morning everyone and a happy June to you all. DH's birthday is in June, too. Actually, this Thursday is his big day and I plan to make him an awesome meal and a great dessert. We rarely go out to eat and since mom came to live with us it's rarer than rare.
I lost 3.5 pounds when I weighed in on Saturday morning. I've got all my birthday poundage gone, thank goodness. Now to work on the "old" fat that hasn't been lost in decades and get to goal.
I've got a very busy week ahead of me as we will be holding a bridal shower for DS's fiance next weekend, DH's birthday, cooking for a couple of church functions, and a massive cookie and square baking session for the bridal shower. I'm doing the cookies today and hopefully they'll be done and put away out of sight until the shower. I guess I'll save a few out for DH's birthday but I'll try not to eat any (or at least not many).
I didn't get my biking done yesterday but I did get in a very short walk. I love this time of year here in Newfoundland. The leaves are new on the trees, all the plants are starting to grow and last night the air was fragrant with the scent of spring. I felt like dancing on the street when I was walking but restrained myself in respect of the neighbors. :D
Have a great day everyone

Good morning- sorry I have not been around as of yet- we were very busy last week trying to find somewhere to move- and I think we have!
Anyways, let me introduce myself- my name is Kate, I am 24 and I live in Pennsylvania. I am a full time nursing student (on summer vacation) and I graduate in December. I have a 3 year old and I work 3 (yes 3) part time jobs. I have participated in one challenge before- back in the begining of 2008. During that time I went to the gym very often and worked myself up to running 3 miles. I just wanted to get back into the routine before I go back to school and my schedule gets insane again!
I am off to the gym, I will catch up on posts later.

LOL, this morning I flashbacked to Bob & Joelle. I get asked a lot of questions from co-workers. A LOT of questions. One co-worker, in particular, also has a habit of verbalizing her thinking processes ("I think I'll do this first, but, wait, maybe, I'll do it later since I also have this other thing") and she'll go on like this. So, this morning, two of them are wondering about how to do something, going back and forth with it, until they inevitably drag me into it. I heard myself get a little impatient with them, especially when they asked my opinion and one of them goes "yeah, but don't you think..."
It took everything I had in me not to say "Just shut up and do it!!!!" :p
On a lighter note, I see my Kettlenetics kit has shipped. I'm looking forward to it. Seems like a fun workout. :)

UHG...
I just did my weigh in and I gained weight over the weekend (as per usual because I'm hanging out with the family, etc.) I think I'll be weighing in on Fridays instead!
I am so sore too. I got the Wii EA Active on Saturday and did day one of the 30 day challenge yesterday and it was a good work out! When I was doing my nightime walk last night, I was really stiff...and this morning sore sore. That's good though I guess!
Well, not any help to my Blue Team this week. Had a 2lb gain this week, due to TOM, so hopefully next week will be super. I did see some Great Losers this week, way to go.
I'm starting this running program, I downloaded it to my podcast, which was an adventure in itself. Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Institches, what is the running program? It sounds interesting. I've got a 5k for Breast Cancer this weekend (so it's too late for that of course) but still if I like this then maybe I'll do a longer one nearer the end of the year. But anything more than 3 miles and I need to to really train for it I think.
