Default Hungry all the time!!

Hi all,

I am hungry all the time! Literally, all the time. If I go 3-4 hours without eating, I feel famished and sometimes even light headed and shaky.

Usually this isn't a problem because I eat constantly. (It's a rare day when I don't eat every hour or so...) But, whenever I try to "eat healthy"/diet, I obviously need to restrict calories. Nothing crazy--I still eat three meals with a snack inbetween each one. And I ALWAYS eat breakfast (usually oatmeal or an omelet), but I can never make it to lunch without a snack.

How do I stop feeling famished all the time?!

I am always trying to up my protein because I'm not a big meat eater (i try to incorporate eggs/tuna/beans into each meal...), but I think I get a pretty balanced diet, I just always feel hungry! I'm beginning to think it's less a physical than a mental thing. How do I stop feeling hungry? Usually when I am thinking about food I drink water or tea, but that doesn't really help for long!

I am really stressed all the time--could that mimic physical hunger? I've known I'm a stress eater for years, but I actually feel physically hungry all the time!

How much water do you drink? Sometimes when you think you feel hungry even though you are eating you might need water. It happens to me ll the time.

Stress can mimic other physical symptoms.
Whenever I'm stressed I get a nasty sore throat and lose my voice, so it could be the stress that's making you feel as though you are hungry.

Also, like canadianwoman said it could be that you need to drink more water as being dehydrated can often feel like hunger.

The only other thing I can think of is to get your thyroid checked. I don't remember if it's under active or over active but one of them can increase your appetite.

How many calories are you eating everyday?

I struggled trying to stay around 1450 calories a day until I got some protein supplements. Now, I take about 5 protein supplements per day which account for about 550-650 of my daily calories. I have noticed such a difference, I am not hungry all the time, I feel "in control" and am able to keep my calories around 1250/day. Perhaps you too could benefit from added some protein supplements to your diet. I use mainly Wonderslim shakes, pretzels, and cheesecake pudding, Protidiet vanilla cookies, BartiWise fruit drink, and Medifast bars. I buy everything except for the Medifast bars at dietdirect.com .

Have ever try fiber??? It's not contain fat... help you to keep your stomach full for long time... well, you can get the fiber from the fruits like an apple, banana, papaya, etc
