We all have that one thing that we just think, "As soon as I hit my goal I am going to do that!" :carrot:

Well, I find that it helps to keep long term goals in mind. When I hit my goal I want to go SCUBA diving so badly! Right now I would be too mortified to get in a swimsuit and all that gear and I am nowhere near being in good enough shape to do it. I just keep that in mind when I hit a big craving, what keeps you going? ;)

Fat people have the same absolute right to wear swimsuits that skinny people, or average people, do.

There is nothing I am waiting to do "someday when I am thin." I do not put my life on hold for fear of what other people may think about me wearing a bathing suit, or dancing, or riding a bike, or running, or anything.

I want to have sexy photos taken by a professional... They were going to be a gift to my husband, but..... I'm thinking now I'll just hold onto them myself.. Just to show me how far I've come... Once I hit 130, I'm off to an R rated photo shoot! Dumb I know, but I've always HATED pictures of myself and the way I look in them. I'd like to have some pictures that are well taken & that I can actually not look @ and be mortified by the person in them. :)

I have a whole list of things but one thing comes to mind: sleeping on my stomach (lying face down). Haven't done that in years. Might not even like it anymore, but I'd like the option of choosing.

Ooohh, I almost forgot. A few years ago I bought some leather chaps to use when I go horseback riding. I am really looking forward to fitting back into those.

I want to be able to hug my knees while I watch tv, etc. :) Dunno why that's a big deal. Probably because I can't do it easily now. It will mean I lost alot. LOL.

Also, I want to wear cute shoes but since I'm flat footed my feet hurt when I'm heavy so I'm always in tennis shoes with good support. :( I will wear cute ones for a few hours but can't all day and can't when I go places.

Both of these things I CAN'T do while I'm heavy. It's not a matter of, I'll just do it anyway, even when I'm fat! Most things, I believe that way too, but these two things are a matter of removing fat from my body so that I can actually physically do them!! LOL!!!!

I'm sure there are other things.. would have to think on it. :)

Good topic, thanks,

Selina

For me, it was crossing my legs...I love having them crossed whenever I'm sitting, now.

Ahh, yes, that feels so good. Haha. I'm actually doing it right now. Now that you mention it, I do do that a LOT.

I have a long list of things that I was looking forward to.

But I guess if I had to pick just one it would be that I couldn't wait to look and feel "normal" - regular sized - average - ordinary. Not be a stand out. I love being just another lady walking around.

Ooh, one more thing. I was really looking forward to "fitting into places". In particular - chairs, had a huge fear of them. I was always afraid that I wouldn't fit into them and that I would break them. One of my biggest joys now is that I can safely fit anywhere. Squeeze through any space. And if I can't, it's not because I'm oversized.

You have all named things that I am looking forward to. I have a long list to remind me of why I am doing this. Not repeating those above, some that come to mind:

Sitting tailor style
wearing shoes with a little heel
not worrying about crowding the person sitting next to me
being able to wear short sleeves comfortably
not struggling with panty hose
being able to walk for extended periods of time
being able to find petite clothes - women's petites are so hard to find
not having to stop and rest while doing housework

I know there are more but my mind is blanking out.....

wearing shoes with a little heel

Oh my. How could I have forgotten this one? I couldn't WAIT to wear high heels. Wearing them when I was 287 lbs was simply out of the question. I was basically walking around in what looked like Men's shoes. Such a source of embarrassment for me. But not anymore. :D

See, I love this feeling! It's still very new to me, and I forget sometimes and think that people are still looking at me because I am fat. I can't get over how good I feel just by blending in. Who knew this Drama Queen would ever like the spotlight being off her? :D

Peace, Heather

When I'm at the weight I want to be, I'm getting a new tattoo.
A half sleeve on my left arm.
Definitely looking forward to that.

Being able to walk around town without feeling as though I'm being judged because I'm overweight.

Trying on nice clothes and actually buy nice clothes... not put them back on the rack because my fat rolls stuck out or my arms looked too fat and flabby.

I look forward to feeling confident and more comfortable with myself to get back out there and start dating again.

I'm looking forward to sitting in my DH's lap without feeling like I can't put my full weight down because I'm way too heavy.

My BF has always been fit - but he's a yoga string bean. We work out together now that I've gotten serious and committed to my health. So our little challenge: He's working to lift more weight, and I'm losing...so we're going to meet in the middle and dadgum it - he's going to pick me up and carry me around before the year is out!

I'm just looking forward to putting on a pair of short jean shorts and a tight black singlet...and walking/sitting/running/slouching....whatever in them..and not feeling uncomfortable, and like there are wobbly bits hanging out everywhere!

I'm looking forward to weighing less than my boyfriend, and believing him when he tells me I look good. Also just feeling comfortable in clothes again. There are so many things in my closet that I would never wear right now, but soon they will all be available to me again.

Believe it or not...I want to sky dive! You have to be less then 200 pounds for a tandem jump. That will be one of the first things I do at goal!

I am looking forward to wear dresses, skirts and shorts. I don't wear any of those now because my thighs rub together and it's so uncomfortable. i really can't wait to wear dresses.

When I hit my goal I want to go SCUBA diving so badly! Right now I would be too mortified to get in a swimsuit and all that gear and I am nowhere near being in good enough shape to do it.

Why wait -- why not start the process now? Or, soon? People of all shapes and sizes and ages go diving!! It's true that a certain level of fitness is needed. I got certified way back in 1987 or so (showing my age!!), but I don't remember that the physical demands were TOO strenuous. You do have to be able to lift a 40 pound scuba tank and wear it on your back, but you can get assistance with that. You need to be able to climb into a dive boat using a ladder. You generally take off your BC (buoyancy control vest)/tank and weight belt and hand them up to the boat, so you just have to get yourself up the ladder, not you and the tank too. Getting off the boat is a lot easier. :D You have to be able to demonstrate some level of swimming proficiency -- I can't remember how far, maybe 200 yards? We did it in the pool; I remember I swam it entirely by side stroke because I wasn't proficient at the crawl stroke and I was dead last but all that counted was that I did it.

Diving is WAY cool! Why not check into the requirements now and start working toward that? You could talk to someone at a local dive shop about what you need to do. Why put life on hold because you aren't at the magic weight yet. If you need to improve your fitness level, you can work on that, and go for it when you're physically ready, no matter what your weight is.

I hear you there!
I'm so looking forward to going shopping and not having to hunt at the back of the rails for those elusive size 18's.
Oh - and also not being embarrassed to ask "do you have these in the next size up?" because the next size up won't be considered "outsized".

No having to carry a metal folding chair in my car so I am sure there will be a seat for me to sit in when we go to someone else's house.

Running and playing with my boys.

Riding a bike outside instead of the stationary one inside!

There are so many things I want to do!!! I don't do alot of things now because of my weight.

-having professional studio pics taken of my son and I (I have some but don't like how I look in them but wanted my son to have some pics of his mommy)
-swimming (my son loves fort rapids and places like that)
-horseback riding (i always feel sorry for the horse and I am over the weight limit)
-being able to wear a great pair of high heels
-riding rollercoasters

I am sure I will come up with alot more as I go along.....

I simply want to put on a classic white tank top, a pair of low rider jeans and some flip flops and feel totally confident, that I am totally rockin' those flip flops! Just want my sexy back! ;)
