I am new to the 3FC website. But I was reading some of the threads posted and I wanted to say I was weighing 225 when I started on Slim Fast. I am currently down to 208. The first few months was without abiding by the suggested plan. I was just enjoying the shakes. But recently I started sticking to it like my best friend. I am also lactose intolerant (I didn't even know that I was, I guess the body changes when you least expect it)so I have been enjoying the soy based drinks. And now I am HOOKED...I crave the shakes when I am thirsty or just want something sweet.
I just know that it is discouraging when you aren't seeing any pounds come off quickly. Everybody wants it instantly but I say we didn't gain this weight instantly and therefore it won't come off instantly. Worse yet...it is harder to come off than it was to get on. I believe we have it within ourselves to do it. You just have to believe in yourself. :)

I've had a coffee slim fast carton in my house for 3 weeks and have not gotten courage up to try it, ain't that crazy???? Never did the shake thing before, afraid I'll miss eating too much. Also, does it upset the bathroom thing??

Hi HereICome. I can't say that I have tried the coffee flavored slim fast. I buy the ready made in the can Orange Pineapple flavor. Only because I have a sweet tooth. Also the one that I buy is made with the soy protein instead of the milk so I think that is what helps with the bathroom thing;) . I think as we grow our bodies change and we can't handle the milk as well as we did when we were youngin's. But no I don't have any problems with the bathroom. I drink alot of water and that is when I am running to the bathroom. But we should all drink as much water as we can get in especially while we are trying to loose weight.

Tip: Once you open the coffee flavored drink you have in your fridge...give yourself a pep talk. Tell yourself it's good for me, I am going to like it, and I will loose this weight once and for all. I was really scared to drink the shakes at first. Like you said I didn't think I would like it, and I really didn't think that a measley shake would satisfy my hunger. And the truth of it was I wasn't crazy about the taste so I would put it in a nice glass with lots of ice and it didn't satisfy all my hunger but I was prepared with healthy snacks...bananas are best because they are heavy. Just don't eat too many of them. But now I have to say I am hooked and crave my shake just satisfy my thirst and my sweet tooth.

Give it a try! Good luck.:)

I am incorporating slimfast into my WW points. I have just started the slimfast this weekend. ARE these bars filling? I'm having a hard time sticking to my points and thought I'd add slimfast. Any starting words of wisdom? Thanks.

Hi Judygal. About the bars. I have to say yes. I had tried one called Brownie something or another some time back and believe it or not I was quite satisfied. I was truly surprised by that because I was a very heavy eater and yet this small chocolate bar was keeping my appetite in control. My only suggestion is when you just start you should always carry some healthy snacks with you in case you get a little hungry in between meals. Because I think alot of the SF plan has to do with allowing your stomach to readjust to the new small amounts of food you are taking in as opposed the times in the past. I stopped eating the bars because I am truly hooked on the orange pineapple shakes.
Always get some kind of exercise into your daily routine. I have a box in my cupboard of those bars. I might start up again. Thanks for reminding me.

You are going to do wonderful.

Kina, thanks for your reply. You are right about the exercise... my biggest downfall! I look forward to what others say about this topic, now that I've started using SF.

I would like to add that we should never feel guilty for eating. We should turn it around and find something that you can pat yourself on the back for. For instance I love McDonalds and even so I haven't gone as often as I used to which would be a pat on the back. Also when I order I don't get the biggie size, I don't finish the fries, or I don't get refills on the soda pop. Any of those would be a pat on my back. I believe we can still enjoy real food but with moderation being the key to success.

Believe that you can achieve.

Well I haven't seen too much action here.

Hereicome: Have you built up the courage to try the coffee flavored slim fast sitting in your icebox?

Judygal: How are those slim fast bars going? Have you found a favorite? Let me know I am curious.

Well I hope all are doing well. I have joined a walking challenge under the exercise thread if anybody is interested please join us. We just started on Monday but you can still get in. Also the weight challenge will begin on the 20th of June under the thread weight challenge or pm Gennel.

Good Luck. I hope to hear from you again.

I just wanted to say Hi to everyone here on the SF thread. I use slimfast on and off throughout the year. I only drink the chocolate royal, I put it in the freezer until it just begins to freeze and it is just like a chocolate milkshake. I also eat the bars, there is one like a peanut butter crunch that is very satisfying. I use SF for a few months, then stop and just try to eat healthy, which I am not very good at, then start the SF again. I have no bathroom problems with SF like some people say they do, we are all different aren't we. Over the past year I have lost 30lbs, like you said Kina, we didn't put it on instantly so it can't come off instantly. I know if I focus harder, it will come off faster but it is so hard to get back into a healthy routine of exercise and eating right when you go off it. I used to be so disciplined and I was miserable if I didn't exercise, and now it takes all I have to get on the treadmill. I keep waiting for it to "click" again, and hoping it does. It helps to see all the inspiration here, I am glad there are motivated people out there to help light a fire under people like me. Take care all.

Welcome Sonny. It's wonderful to have you here.
Way to go on making the change. Slim Fast is a nutritional way to boost your weight loss. There may be some that oppose the thought of having a unnatural way of losing weight but don't let that discourage you. We were made all different for a reason.

Remember you must get your exercise into your life to encourage more weight loss. Under the Exercise thread walking goal/challenge we have a walking challenge that just started on Monday. I welcome you to join us. You can still join us it's not too late. Walking is a great way to lose some extra weight. I myself, with the help of Slim Fast, have lost about 5 lbs in just a matter of a week and a half but of course with adding exercise to my daily life. I still have the unsensible meals. But I am happy that I don't have to deprive myself of everything I love and yet lose weight.

You can do it. Come over to the Exercise thread and join us in the challenge. Get in touch with Jacksonmom. She is the one that is keeping up with our goals. Here's to Slimmer YOU.

Bye. Kinarina;)

Hey! I've been doing slimfast this week. Trying to gain some control over my eating. Anyway I found this crisp peanut carmel crunch bar (I think that is the name) by Equate (walmart brand) I only saw it in the indiviual bars by the pharmacy. It was so GOOD! It was relatively filling. I definetly will buy those again.

Hello,
To whomever is there.
I have been doing slimfast off and on for like a year now, I have not lost any weight, nor have I gained any, it does keep me satisfied, my favorite is also the chocalate royal.
I am already a member of 10lbs at a time, but would like to join in with this group also since I do the SF and I would like some info on that walking/excercise goal

Hi, Jacksonmom. I have seen the Equate brand at WalMart. I have never tried it myself. I don't usually eat teh candy bars of Slim Fast. Although I have tried them. I stick to my Orange Pineapple slim fast in a can. It is lactose free which works great for my system.

Hi, Slim4u. Are you exercising along with doing the slim fast? In the beginning I was only drinking the shakes and then I was motivated to do exercise along with it. So I have lost some not alot. I am kind of stuck right now but I think it is a good stuck. I am hoping the scale is not moving because I am gaining muscle. That is what everyone says so it sounds good to me. Remember the shake alone without exercise won't get you too far.

Good Luck.

Slim4u join us on the walking/goals challenge. Let me see I think it is under Exercise category then look for a thread with Jacksonmom that says walking/goals challenge and just post. We started the month on the June 20 but that is only a week that has passed. That is okay because whatever you think you could do in a month just take some of it off and that will work. Come on over we have great support. Then there is the one where we set a weight goal we would like to lose in a month and work hard at it. I am not sure where that is under...oh...under support and look for the one that says 4 week challenge (support?...always!) the thread is under Gennel. That is a great one to get into because everybody that is active in there seems to really get those pounds off. I hope to bump into you over there. Bye.:)

Hi ladies. I've been comming to 3FC's for three years now and doing Slimfast for almost that long. I've lost a total of 60 pounds so far. One of the things i have noticed is that weight loss goes in cycles and you will hold at a weight for a while before loosing more. If you keep track of your measurments as well as weight you will likly notice changes occuring even when you are not loosing. I also take pictures of myself regularly so I can see the changes in my figure. When i first started I did pee a lot but that may be because of all the excercise I was getting with the new job I had at the time. I had not worked in 6 months and was retaining a lot of water.
Kina -try this: Blend that orange pineapple with one peeled orange and a bit of vanilla sherbert or low fat icecream. It is sooooooooo good! Only once in a while as a treet.
I love to make shakes out of mine by blending them with ice most of the time. I like the Equate brand too and thos caremel crisp bars are divine. But I buy my Slimfast by the case of 24 at Sam's Club and they don't carry the Equate yet. In the Summer I use the shakes and in the winter I use the bars since I don't like to have cold meals in winter.
Hereicome-If it makes you less worried try just having one shake for breakfast or lunch at first and when you get used to that move to two a day. It is easier to give up one meal a day than two at first. You don't always have to play by the rules. I don't always do two a day myself. And definatly plan for a mid morning and mid afternoon snack. It helps a lot and keeps you metabolism up which bur\ns more calories. Speaking of which I believe it is time for my snack.
Hope you find this information useful.:D

Hi everyone, I like your idea cowgirl of taking pictures of yourself. I have so few pictures of myself and in most of them I am trying to look away. I think it would be good for me to see that I am making some progress. I do not take measurements either which I have always wanted to do, I think I will. Exercise is hard for me too, especially in this heat. My daughter, 9, and I started to take walks in the evening. I mapped out 2 miles with the car and we walk that about 4 times a week, at least. I am having a great time talking with my youngest, and the walk goes much more quickly than when I am on the treadmill. I hope you all have a great weekend. Take Care.

Hi everyone.

I agree with you Cowgirl. Pictures are a good way to motivate you and also help you to see the difference in your weight loss. I have been taking pictures of myself since June 1. Which was when my family started a weight challenge. For the past few weeks I have not been able to get the scale to budge. But people had mentioned about how i was looking different in the face. I myself had noticed the way my jeans were fitting. So pictures have become a 2 week ritual for me. I compare the most recent to my first photo. I do see the difference even if my scale doesn't want to show me the results.

On the other hand I since my fall I haven't been doing aerobics because of the jumping. I figured the jumping around would cause more pain than good. So I started doing yoga and I think that may have been the cause of my 1 lb loss. I don't know but I had not been able to get that scale to move before I started yoga and now it moves. I am only 5 lbs away from getting to 200. I hope to be there by the end of the month. That may be too big to dream but I am going to try really hard.

Well thank you for keeping in touch. I hope the best of luck for a great weight loss week.
bye. kinarina

Kina, congratulations on your loss! And I hope you reach your goal. I bet you can do it to.

Is yoga difficult? Are you using a tape or a class?

Kina
07-15-2002, 02:56 PM
Thnaks karefree2. Well about the yoga...it is a DVD that I follow. It is very beginner level. I say this because the title of the DVD is "Yoga for Dummies". You know--like the books we see in the stores "Algebra for Dummies"? It's like that. It is very easy. Towards the end I do get a step behind but I still keep going. And boy let me tell you...I am sweating toward the halfway mark. Even though I am not jumping and all that aerobic stuff. I sweat about as much as I sweat when I do the aerobics with Denise Austin. I don't know but yoga does something for a person internally as well as externally.

Thanks again and welcome to the thread.

Kina, thank you for the welcome.

Madonna swears that she got back in shape doing yoga. I have watched the show that comes on "O" in the early mornings but it is a joke! There is NO WAY I could bend that way and not end up hospitalized! LOL!

Kina

Oh are you talking about the yoga with Steve Ross? I used to do that yoga a few years ago. But my new satellite provider does not offer the Oxygen channel. I can't wait til the contract ends with this provider so that we can get Direct TV again.

I didn't think Steve Ross was impossible to do. Maybe a few of the moves were a bit challenging but do what you can without hurting yourself. But it has been over a year since I last seen that show you are talking about. There are some tapes that I have checked out at the public library of yoga. I am like sitting there and saying "Yay RIGHT!" So I know exactly what you mean.

The DVD that I have is really nice because it has a first level then it goes to the real thing. In the first level it shows each step and the proper way to set yourself to hold the stance and even how to breath. Then if you can't do it the way she is showing she has like a picture in picture view of a modified version. So you have a choice of doing it the more challenging way or do the modified version.

Wow so your saying I can look like Madonna one day. LOL. She is amazing even after having children! Silly talk. Well even like Denise Austin she is gorgeous has had children and is like stick thin. I wish!

What is your way of weight loss? SW/CW/GW?

Hi, I do not use SlimFast yet, but I am thinking about it. I am hoping to lost about 15 pounds in about two months. I have gained 10 pounds in the past year. Do you think that that goal is possible? What is the SlimFast diet like??? Also, do you guys exercise as well?

Hi Holly. I have been using ready made shakes by slim Fast since September 2001. Back then I was just drinking the shakes no exercise, no sensible eating, and I was eating my usual on the weekends. By January 2002 I had lost about 10 lbs. To me that was amazing. Now just this June 2002 I really got myself in gear. I can't say that I did the sensible meal very faithfully but I did cut back in my normal eating habits. I was weighing 215 on my DRs scale in March. I weighed in at 210.5 on my scale June 8 I am down to 205 today. In June I was walking/power walking/jogging/stairclimbing daily. Also working out to Denise Austin daily. Then started exercising to Denise 4 times a day also walking 2-3 miles a day. Now I am not walking because of the rain, mosquitos, and list goes on. But I am doing yoga, using a ab roller 5 min. a day, and just started using a stepper and twister 10-20 min each daily. All that along with my slim fast. I had been stuck at 206.5 for the longest time and just this Monday was able to get the scale to move to 205. I drink more than the suggested 8 glasses of water. I just recently started incorporating salads for one of my meals. I do eat the food I love but in moderation. No more pigging out like it is going out of style.

My favorite flavor is the Orange Pineapple made with soy. It does not bother my bathroom time. Many people say that they have problems there and for that reason they give it up. There are so many lactose free slim fast products now that you shouldn't just give up so easily. I have to say I am stuck on the Orange Pineapple and many times I find myself craving it just to have something to drink and cool off the hot day.

Well good luck on your life change and might I add check out the slim fast website for flavors and success stories it is very motivating. I am on there also code name: kina. Welcome to the thread Holly.

Hi ya'll!

Welcome, Holly. I just started myself but have found some wonderful recipes and inspiration on the slim fast web site.

Kina, LOL, I don't really know what my weight is but I am sure it is well over the 200 mark. I would like to get back down to about 180 and I am sure I need to lose at least 40 pounds to get there.

I know this sounds silly but I hate to weigh. It depresses me to know that I have allowed myself to gain all this weight and I will use that as an excuse to eat. Perhaps after I feel like my clothes are getting a little looser I will hope back on the scale.

Yes, I believe that is the mans name who does the yoga program on "O". I totally understand about some of the feelings on some of those positions! I NEVER was able to bend like that! EVER! Not when I was 2 or 20 or 40! Some of those people must be double jointed.

I love the slimfast website but am not really fond of the message board. I find it hard to read and follow. I don't see how a conversations could be on-going. I will look for you there though on my next visit.

Ah the poet is trying to come out. Just kidding. All you do is click on profile in one of my posts and it's like you and I are having a tea party getting to know each other a bit better.

What the profile doesn't reveal is my age and gender. I am 29 (hoping to stay that way for the rest of my life). I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter...that means I am a female.:) I attend college (except during the summer). I am majoring in Business Administrative work...I don't know why they don't just say CPA.:D I am from Texas. So that means I am a HOWDY DOODY gal. I don't work except in the summer. My summer job has not started yet. I work testing cotton. I love my job. Then when that is over I don't work unless I work part time at the local college I attend.

I have not always been overweight. I hate to say that I gained all this weight after having my children. Because I feel I am putting the blame on them and that would not be fair. But you understand what I mean. When I was a young girl I always weighed 120-125. After my first prenancy I weighed 200 then I would go down to 165 and then back up and would never pass that 200 mark. I decided to do something after I realized my weight had ballooned to 225 and I had no other excuse other than it was my own fault. So I have not always and forever had a weight problem. I have just been a heavy adult. I wish I could wave a magic wand :p .

Okay enough of little ol' me. Until next time.

welcom chell. this a nice thread if i do say so myself. i have been on slim fast for some time and have not lost as much as you. I wish. But I have given up either. I don't drink soda all that much. In the beginning I didn't do any exercise and I didn't do any sensible eating and I ate my usual way on the weekends...yet i had lost 10 lbs just drinking a shake a day. Now in June I really put it in gear. I am exercising and eating a bit more rationally. I am down to 204.5 as of this morning. I feel wonderful. I am also 29. I started at 225 pounds in September. Not a great number for me since I am only 5.3 in height.

well talk more later. bye.

well in june i was walking 2 miles a day around the track. then i would go over to the stadium steps and do a mile up and down that. then i would come home and do a workout or two with denise austin on tape. we have been getting alot of rain so it brings the mosquitos. i am alergic to mosquito bites so i don't go out to the track anymore. when the rain came i started doing 4 workout sessions with denise austin. then as i was exiting my back porch i slipped off the steps because they were slick. so i couldn't do aerobics (the jumping around and stuff). so i started to do yoga and 5 min on a ab roller (borrowed from mom). I bought a stepper and twister.

So my routine as of today is 10 min on the stepper, 10 min on the twister in the morning and again in the evening. In the evening I do 5 minutes on the ab roller. In the morning I do my yoga. But for the last two days I haven't done the yoga because I have a kink in my neck that seems to be going away now. So that is my routine. Tuh dah

So be glad, young uns, that you are getting yourselves in control now, and you won't struggle for an extra 10 years like I have. I am just starting an exercise program again. I have been walking at least 2 miles, 4 times a week. To that I just added some upper body free weight exercises and soon I hope to add the ab and leg strengthening exercises. In a previous life I did Jazzercise compulsively, so I learned some really good toning exercises I am tring to incorporate into this program. I hope everone is doing well, Take Care.

I believe that if you can do something every day for atleast 30 days it will become a part of your life that you will not be able to do without it. I know myself when I was going out to the track on a daily basis and then all of a sudden couldn't I was miserable so I had to find something else that I liked to take its place.

Give it a try find something you enjoy and do it daily for atleast 30 days.

HI! Wow, Chell, your routine is beyond my reach. I thought my life was absorbed with exercise. But an active lifestyle is always the best. Even if it just taking the stairs once a day. You keep up the great work and it is going to be worth the effort.

Holly, I like your pic. Is that you and your honey? Girl, you don't look like you need much to lose. What is your current weight/goal weight?

Sonny, glad to hear from you. Something is better than nothing. I used to compete with the young girls wanting so much to look like someone I could never be. Then I finally realized somebody has to be Kina. If not me then who. And there is only one person on this earth that can be me and that person is...ME. My husband would probably say thank goodness. LOL

Karefree, you just have to do what is a best fit for you. Any thing that gets your heart going is a form of exercise. Once you find something you really enjoy stick with it. After a while your body will let you know when it is time to advance or go on to something else. Just never give up.

Well I have to say I was too excited I had a 2 lb loss for the week. I was so happy because I had been on a plateau since a month ago. Finally the scale has moved. I am feeling much better since my fall so I will start my routine with Denise Austin once again and hope that will add to my losses for next month.

Wishing all of you the best of luck for a skinnier you in the near future.
Hugs. kina

I worked like a dog in the yard yesterday and am so sore I can't move. Does that count?

I should just get up early and take a walk before the sun heats up the day. That would be the smart thing to do at my fitness level.

Hey there! I want to have some sort of workout plan but I do not have a clue where to start. I am new to here. 235lbs looking for the 175lb...:)

Give me a few pointers, please

Hi, Sunnydaze. Welcome to the thread. The best place to start if you have not exercised in a long time would be walking. Walking is always the best place to start whether you are a beginner or a expert. Walking helps to build muscle, lose some weight, and if you get a power walk in you can get a good cardio vascular workout. But the key to getting to weight to come off is to do any exercise daily even if it is just 10 min that you can put aside for exercise. A positive attitude is a strong must. Drink plenty of water. It is required to drink 6-8 glasses a day but you know that I am sure. Good luck. You can do it.

bye. kina

Kina,
Yes, that is me and my Hunny. His name is Ryan and we have been together for over a year now. And in that year, I have gained 10 pounds. I want to lose those so that I look the way that I did when I met him. I am right under the 5 foot mark and weigh 115, which is a little overweight considering my height. I want to lose 15 pounds in about 2 months. Do you have any suggestions to help me lose it fast?

Hello
I've been a member of the 3fc site for about 5 years now and rarely strayed from a few threads that I'm hooked on but I decided to "travel" around here tonight and was so glad to see this thread. I LOVE SLIM FAST!!! I always buy 12 at a time and keep them in the frig. I only use them as a meal for breakfast or lunch if Im in a rush. It's much better than having nothing at all and as we all know....if we don't eat...our body's metabolism slows down and then so does our weight loss. I too am lactose in tollerant....I love the choc. soy shake. Just water, the choc. powder and some ice in a blender and I'm all set. But having the cans in the frig are great when I'm running out the door (happens much too often around here) and it really doesn't bother me all that much. I was reading another thread on here where someone got upset because there were a couple of posts stating that you need to change your way of eating and that slim fast isn't going to do that for you. Well NO DUH!!!!! We ALL know that.....but it's a great shake/snack/meal on the go when you can't eat properly every once in a while and God only knows we're a very rushed and stressed society.
I'm glad I found you all and a big hello to Judygal.
Stick with your slim fast ladies, whatever works for one person might not work for another....luckily...we have a delicious way to "eat on the run". :p
Hope to "see" you all again.

When I saw your picture I was like where is she hiding this weight she talks about. But then you mention your height...I can understand. My mom is only 5 ft. and just 15-20 lbs over weight. So when she says 149 I am like I wish I could complain. But like you said height has alot to do with how it looks on you.

Well I wish I could say I had all the answers better yet a magic wand but I don't. I have been getting my weight off slowly. By drinking my shake everyday, daily exercise, and drinking more than 8 glasses of water. No matter how tired or sore I may be from the day I still get that exercise in. Sometimes I stay up late because I procrastinated all day to do my exercise and my body won't be ready for bed until I have done my exercise. I guess you could say I have already trained myself. But no matter what you keep a positive attitude and keep reaching for your goal.

Well I must go. The kids start back to school tomorrow. So we will be rising very early in the morning.

bye. Kina

Well I finally did it!!! I went to Target tonight and bought 16 cans of SlimFast!!! They were on sale... you got 8 cans for the price of 6 for $4.38. So I decided that that was a sign for me to start. I bought one case (8 cans) of Milk Chocolate and another case of French Vanilla. I also bought 4 different Meal Options bars: Rich Chocolate Brownie, Milk Chocolate Peanut, Chocolate Cookie Dough, and Apple Cobbler. I decided to buy the four that they had so that I could find out which one I like the best to buy next time. What flavors does everyone else like???
So as far as I know, the SlimFast plan goes that you drink one for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible dinner. Is that right? How often can I eat one of the meal options?
Gosh, I am really really glad that I have you all to turn to about this... I am so happy that I found 3FC!!! :cp:
P.S. I also went to the gym tonight and did some abs and some cardio!!! I am trying to get back into my routine again!!!

Yes, Chell that is a great deal. I myself have been stocking up. You can't beat that deal. I have never tried the chocolate like Holiday. I am stuck on Orange Pineapple.

PJ, welcome to the thread. Stop by and share some tips whenever you'd like.

I am glad to see everybody being involved. My kids are back in school so my posts will become sparse. I will start working soo as well. But in the meantime I volunteer at the kids school. It keeps me out of the fridge. Take care. Here's wishing a very balanced weekend. kina

Ramsgirl, you are doing great! Congrats on your 2 pound loss! Have you visited the slimfast website? My understanding of the plan is you can have a shake for 2 meals per day and 2 snacks. The snack can be a piece of fruit, a slimfast snack bar, a cup of low fat soup etc. They have some really good recipes on the slimfast site. My hubby and I have fallen in love with the eggplant parmesan. It is really delicious.

Will look forward to further updates on your progress.

Hi to everyone.

Karefree, are you and husband big veggie eaters. That is my downfall I am not a big veggie eater but I can eat a good salad. How is your weight loss going?

Holiday, you are doing great! If you are exercising remember that you will be gaining muscle. Which we need the muscle to burn that fat. I had gotten stuck on my weight loss and didn't move until recently. It happens and that is just a way your body protects you. Don't get discouraged stick with it.

Chell, how's it going? So what flavor did you buy?

I have to say, people, I have lost 1.5 lbs (oops editing that should have been a 1.5 lb loss for the week) for this week. I am too happy about this because I am only 2.5 lbs from my 200 marker! I am hoping to be there before the end of the month. I don't know I only have 4 days left of the month. Keep your positive thoughts flowing. I hope to be at 190 by September. I will work hard at it but I will settle for close enough if that is as far as I get. We'll see when we get there.

Great luck to all of you. Talk later.kina

Hi I am new to this site and am new to slim fast- My Mom- in- law lost 45 lbs in 5 months and I decided to give it a try. It is working! I have lost 4 pounds this week-( 50 more to go-) I was in a search last night to find out how many calories in a mcdonalds burger and this site came up- WOW !:) I was so happy to see others in the same situations I am in- My husband is not super supportive- because he knows he needs to loose 30 pounds and won't do it.... But so far I am eating good and healthy- counting calories( food Diary) weighing and measuring everything- and using slim fast as some meal replacements- Thank you all for this great forum- what a blessing this will be!

Kina, congratulations on you 2.5 pound loss and happy, successful thoughts going out to you to meet your next goal!

As for being a veggie lover....I do like some veggies quite a bit but in all honestly I have never tasted one that was anywhere in the same range as a piece of chocolate. I am ignoring chocolate bars at this time though!

I haven't worked up the nerve to weigh myself. I went to the doctor about a month ago though and have to go back in September so I will see if there has been any progress then. It has been less than 2 weeks but I did notice that some slacks I wore today seemed a little looser. Hope it isn't wishful thinking!

Sandisuze, welcome! This is a great site. There are some really wonderful people on these boards and lots of good information. Glad you found it. Be sure to congratulate you MIL for me. What a great job she did! Is she still losing or did she reach her goal?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

congrats kina on the weight loss:cp: !
i love the orange pineapple shakes, i also like the orange, strawberry, banana; banana creme; and the raspberry, apple, cranberry. i am a big fruit person. i tried the choclate shakes and i didn't like the smell or the taste. it reminds me of the stuff we give some of the residents at the nursing home i work at-2 cal stuff. :p
so i stick with the fruit ones. i have yet to try the french vanilla. i may like it.
well i will chat with all of you later. i worked 12 hrs today and i am beat!!!!!

Ooooh. I have seen the banana creme. But I haven't had the nerve to get it. I really wish Slim Fast would come out either with a variety pack or singles. So that I can try them without the rest going to waste. I got the strawberry creme and it wasn't sweet enough so I had to blend in a banana. Then it was good. But after that I never got away from my orange pineapple. I have tried the orange strawberry banana and that one is good. But I still go back to my orange pineapple.

Oh I have to correct my mistake. That 2.5 should have been 1.5. I can't quite get the hang of the number row on this keyboard. Sorry.

talk later. kina

karefree2
07-28-2002, 08:22 AM
Kina, 1.5 is still good. Any loss to me is SOOOO much better than standing still or gaining! I know what you mean about the keyboard. It is easy to do.

I love the bananna cream. I have some in my frig. Made a couple by freezing a banana and then slicing it into the blender and chopping like I would ice cubes. Blend in the shake which I got as cold as possible without it freezing solid. I had to eat it with a spoon. It was very much like banana ice cream. Read a tip from someone else who freezes a can and then blends 1/2 the cubes with 1/2 a unfrozen can. Sounded like a good idea to me.

I can't find the fruit ones. I will have to look harder. They sound really good.

I still have not lost any more weight... :(
I keep waking up every morning and running to the scale hoping to see that I have lost another pound... but ever since Thursday morning, it hasn't happened any more. Oh well. The reason I get so bummed out I think is because I always get my hopes up too high. I keep on thinking that I will lose my 10 pounds in a month and stuff like that... I need to tell myself that this isn't as easy as 1-2-3.

HI Sherry! Welcome to the thead. We are glad to have you here. You won't be sorry about getting onto the Slim Fast. But the name doesn't mean what it says...it does take a while to get the weight just like any weight loss routine. I have been working on it since last September and I am very pleased with the results. I still have plenty to go but as long as I see that scale going in the right direction I will never complain. FOCUS and DETERMINATION is the key.

But bottom line welcome to the thread. You will find alot of nice and very supportive people. All of them have the strength and determination to get where they want to go and they are on their way. So stop by and add your words of wisdom.

I hope everyone else is doing wonderful as well. Talk later.

Holiday, (do you mind me calling you by that name?) you are doing great! Don't get discouraged. I know it is sometimes hard not too but everybody loses at different rates. The more you have to lose the faster the pounds come off initially and then the closer you get to goal the more it slows. Have you tried weighing in less often. Then you wouldn't experience the disappointment so often and the one or two pound loss could keep you motivated for the next weigh day. It could also have something to do with 'the time of the month'. Some people experience water weight gain during those times and perhaps that is why you haven't lost another pound or so.

Sherri, welcome! The more the merrier is what I say and I post anywhere the posts pique my interest. I look forward to reading your contributions. I have never visited the section you mentioned but when time permits I will. Sounds like a fun group!

Chell, wow you are melting! Do you think those pesky 3 could have been the water that I mentioned earlier on this post to Holiday (Ramsgirl)? Even if that is so, 4 pounds is spectacular success! A great big congrats!!

Today is a good day and I am reaching for success also. Thanks for the inspiration Slim Fasters and Friends!

I weighed myself today... 8 days on slimfast and no cookies, white pasta, white bread, chips, candy, sodas, mashed potatoes w/ gravy.. I'm not supposed to weigh myself for another 6 days but I couldn't stand it....

I lost 5 & 1/2 Pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't lost 5 & 1/2 pounds in 10 years when I weighed 120 and thought I was fat... 44 and 1/2 pounds to go...
I think the slimfast is a good kick start because I am only replacing 1 meal a day but they are a yummy shake :)
but I am doing a food diary and really measuring & weighing everything so slimfast keeps me on track!

Hello Hello Hello...there is an echo in here. Where has everybody gone? Well none the less. I want to share with all of you out there. I have started my seasonal job. So I don't have much time on my hands anymore. I was very worried that I would gain weight by working 'cause these girls can pack on the goodies. Well I am happy to say that I have had the will power to say no each and every time. I have also not made one stop or peek at the vending machine. Nor have I slipped and bought a soda from the soda machine. And the cherry on the top....I have been packing my slim fast or salad eveyday for dinner along with fruit or yogurt. I have also one more bit of news. I bought the new candy bars from slim fast Chocolate Peanut Nougat! It is my new best friend. Can anyone say YUM? !!!!! It is delicious and tastes just like a babe ruth or some kind of good fattening candy bar.

so I have to say since I have made all this effort and have had this continued will power I have been able to lose 1 lb this week. I am only 1.5 lbs away from my goal of 200! I am almost there. Thank goodness.

So how is everyone else doing? Share your success! Sandy you are doing excellent. Keep up the great work and effort!

Hey there Kina! I know what you mean... it has been pretty empty in here lately... I used to get at least 3 emails a day telling me that someone had posted something here... I guess it's just that busy summer time for everyone. =)
Anyways, I turned 18 on Thursday... finally!!! And of course on that day... I had to cheat on my SlimFast diet for a little while. My boyfriend took me to a steak house here and I ate steak, a baked potato, bread, green beans... and ICE CREAM CAKE!!! It felt good to cheat... hehehe... but I am very proud to say that the very next day... I went right back to my normal SlimFast schedule. One for breakfast, one for lunch, and a somewhat healthy dinner. :D
I haven't weighed in lately... everyone told me that I should weigh only once or twice a week, so next time I weigh, I will let everyone know how much I have lost. The last time I weighed, I had lost 3 pounds since I started SlimFast. I need to get to the gym... but this week has been so busy. It was my birthday, my mom had surgery, my grandmother is moving... so all in all, that is my excuse for not going to the gym lately.
I hope to hear from everyone soon.

Hi everyone.

Happy Birthday Holly! Wow only 18 what a memorable age. If I could go back...no never mind I would rather stay where I am at 29. But that is a great age to get to know the world. Good going on staying focused. Especially knowing that just because one day was a "let go, let loose day" didn't mean it was all down the drain. that is great.

Hi, Karefree, how are you? I hear you about the melon. We went grocery shopping this weekend. I piled it on when we got to the produce section. It was so easy to pack a salad or my slim fast along with some fruit. The best part of it all I was never left feeling starved. How are you doing with your weight loss? Other than hanging in there.

Has anyone tried that candy bar from slim fast that I mentioned? Oh and have you checked out the new stuff from slim fast. I went looking for them at the store and I didn't find them. So they must be very new that they don't have them in the stores yet. They are like rice bowls that you microwave...something like that. Maybe like pasta bowls? Who knows all I know I was looking for them this weekend but struck out. Maybe next time.

I have to go; making dinner for the familia. Drink your 8 glasses of water if nothingelse. Many smiles to you.

Hi Ladies,

Slim Fast has really been helpful for me, lost 15 pounds on it (10 more to go) I'm absolutely hooked on the brownie bars. Imagine eating a chocolate bar without the guilt!! I try to mix it up between the bars and the shakes. And as Kina suggested, water is key I drink plenty!! (Naturally fruit flavored water is good too. No calories and takes you away from the same ole water taste...avoid the carbonated kind)

Anyway, SF requires a lot of discipline in the beginning but you will find yourself getting used to it and hopefully loving it. Off to the gym now! Toodles

I made it you guys. I made it to 200!:flow1: I am too excited beyond words. Now my new goal is to hit 190. I know I can do it maybe not as fast as I would like. I have found that looking at the weight loss in 10s is so much easier to stay commited to than looking at it like I want to lose 60 or 80 lbs. But I did it! You can't imagine the feeling. But when I weighed at 200 it was 8:30 this morning then this afternoon after I woke up for the 2nd time I weighed again to see if it still said 200 well the good scale said 199.5 :dancer:. I can jump on and off that scale and it still says 199.5 but I am not going to get too happy about the 199.5 because I can't believe it yet. So I will stick with my 200 and be happy with that and work hard at seeing the 90s! Woo hoo!

I have to go and get some exercise in before I get ready for work. Talk later. I hope everybody has a wonderful day.

Thanks everyone. Gosh you all are such a great bunch. I am just coming home from my seasonal job. I had a good day all in all. But the best part was this morning when I jumped on the scale...197 ! If you can believe that? I could hardly believe it myself...so I hopped on and off a few times even had DH come and look while I stood still. He says "210!" I was like "WHAT!" and I looked and it read 197...OMG you should have felt my heart jump. I would die if I ever see a 2 at the beginning of the scale ever again.

So I am happy to say it is sliding off. But for some odd reason this is how I started to lose weight in the beginning. I would lose quick then hit a plataeu and then just sit at the same weight for a while then like now just start sliding off. Strange? I wonder why:shrug: ? So I am anticipating a plataeu soon. I am just not looking forward to it. But at the same time I do alot of movement and lifting at my evening job that I work up a sweat in air condition temps. I mean I build up such a sweat that it is dripping off my strands of hair. Crazy! I like to work up a sweat like that when I exercise.

I definitely feel it in my clothes now. My 2X shirts I use to tug on to fit better into are hanging on me with lots of room. No need to tug some extra room into them anymore. I can't wait to get my new clothes to fit my new figure. But I am going to wait until we get closer to September when I start my classes. Because hopefully by then i will hit 190 and will be able to fit into a smaller size. I am not expecting a size 10 but anything smaller than a plus size would be wonderful!

I must go get ready for bed. I work tomorrow evening and then off Sunday. Take care to all. Keep the post alive everyone. We all need the success stories and the not so successful stories. I know many of them hit home for me and encourage me. Talk later.

Well I have some good news and some not so good news. The bad news first...I got off track Saturday night after work. I was nto hungry after having my slim fast at work. But I kept thinking about Taco Bell that my stomach started to grumble. Then I would stop thinking about it and then i would be okay. Then I would start thinking again and there went my hunger pains. Mind we are talking 11:30 at night. So where do you think I ended up after work? Yep, Taco Bell. I ate a steak burrito supreme and 2 crunchy tacos. Which is quite good for me because I used to eat 6 tacos, a tostada, and a burrito:devil: . But since making changes I have not done that anymore. Actually I don't crave fast food like I used to. But the good news is that I was able to maintain 197.5 for my weigh in this Saturday. Thank goodness. :) So that is my story of my hurdles and accomplishments.

My dad started the slim fast diet. Like he needs to he has already lost 30? lbs since June! But anyway he bought the Banana creme flavored. He offered one to me :T I am looking forward to trying it. But I forgot it there at the ranch. So I asked him if he would bring it over to the house when he comes tomorrow. He said he would. I really wish Slim FAst would sale inidividually so that I can get a taste of one before buying the whole case. My dad had bought the cappucino delight. He wasn't crazy about it. Anyhow. I must go now. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch.

Kina, you did great to control yourself as much as you did in the midst of a snack attack. You didn't do TOOO much damage since you didn't gain any. Great job! I have been having thoughts of Taco Bell lately also. I keep wondering how much the new 'bowl' would be calorie wise. I am sure it is bunches!

I have vet appointments today. I do think I may have actually l;ost a pound or two though. I can't wait for those Smart Technique tapes to arrive. I am curious to see if they re-program my way of thinking about food.

Ta-Ta,

Hi to all.

Karen~~~woo hoo the possibility of a pound or two lost is great. Smart Technique tapes? Can't say that I have ever heard of them. I have been watching the paid advertisements of The Firm and I am very interested in getting them. I can't remember the price probably because it was way over what i would like to pay...LOL. But I am considering them seriously. I guess because they promise results with just a little of your time. Lately that is all I have left of my day a little of time. I haven't been getting much exercise in and starting next week it is going to become impossible. I will start working at my day job at the college. I think subconsciously I am stressing and noticing that I am grabbing at food that isn't necessary. So I need to work on it before I find myself in the 200s again. Aaargh just when I think I have figured it out. It is not easy. But I have decided to buckle down and stop stuffing my face as soon as I walk into the house after work at 12 midnight. That is the worst time to stuff you face.

On a lighter note...has anyone found the new granola bars by Slim Fast and given them a try? I saw the commercials on the tube but when I went to the grocery store they didn't have them on the shelves yet. So I am sitting here waiting? I love granola bars. But I like them crunchy. The ones from Slim Fast are going to be chewy but I am willing to bend. They will be meal options not a snack bar. So give me feedback if you have tried them; I am interested.

Today I will be trying the Banana creme shake that I got from Dad. I can't wait. Well I am logging off to get some sleep. My oldest should be off to school any minute. Many SMILES to you today and everyday.

Kina, I completely understand an uncontrolled stuff. I have been doing the same thing the last few days.

I first saw the Smart Technique on an infomercial. Here is the link to the site if you are interested in hearing more about it.

URL removed by moderator as it is against forum rules

There is also a website that is a support group for people who are using the Smart Technique and the 6 Week Body Make Over plan. Go to the bottom of the page and pull down the menu. The Smart Technique is at the very bottom of the menu. If you want to read more about it the web address is:

URL removed by moderator as it is against forum rules

There are some people there who are experiencing some success. There is also a refund (less shipping and handling) if you are not satisfied with the results after 5-6 weeks. That is enough to complete the tapes. I hope it helps with the cravings. I could really use some help in that area!

I hope you like the Banana Creme shake. I really like them. I froze one along with a banana. Cut the banana up into the blender and then added the frozen drink. It was so thick it had to be eaten with a spoon and was very delicious. I would love to hear what you think.

I haven't seem the firm commercial but have heard people discussing them on another forum. I will keep an eye out for it. It sounds interesting.

Have a good, good day!

Hey Kina,
You were saying that you wish SlimFast sold cans seperately so that you could try them before you buy them... well...... at the Vons where I live, near the pharmacy, they do sell SlimFast cans one by one. They are more expensive that way, but it is better to buy 1 @ $1.50 and not like it than to buy 6 at $6.00 and not like them.
Hope that helps your "tast testing". =)

I've also seen Slim Fast cans sold separately in Variety stores....bought one once in 7-11.

Thanks Holiday and Jen. I will keep my eyes open. I know the store I usually go to doesn't have them in singles but they do have the meal bars in singles. I think I just have to shop around to see if I stumble across them.

Thanks Karen for the links you provided. I will take a look once I get a chance to breath. Meaning...I will be work 7 days this week at my evening job and starting my day job on Monday. OMG!!! I am already pulling my hair out. I think I can do it.

I tried the Banana Creme tonight. It was good but it wasn't as sweet as the Orange Pineapple, which is my favorite. I think I am going to stick with my Orange Pineapple until I find a better fit. But I can't wait for the granola bars by Slim Fast to come out on the shelves. I bet they are going to be great. It will give me a break from the shakes.

I better go. Oh I think I am at a stand still at 197.5. I expected it. I don't know it is kind of soon to tell if I won't or will lose more by this weekend. I have been working up a sweat at work so hopefully I will lose some more. We'll see. I hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch all.

Which one did you get to try Chell. Thanks for the info I will have to make it a point to check out the Wal Mart here in town. Hopefully they will have them by now. It is nice to get a break from the shakes. I am not a big chocolate person but at the same time I can't see having a chocolate bar for dinner. That is too crazy atleast for me.

Well I must go now. Bye. corina

Good Morning All!
I have been up since 5AM reading this thread, and now it seems as if no one has posted in 2 weeks! I hope all is going well.
I have decided to begin SlimFast today, was waiting for the 1st of the month. Last year at this time I lost 20lbs on Nutrisystem but it got too expensive to keep up. I have been on WeightWatchers in the past also, but seem to do better with plans that tell me EXACTLY what to eat and when, lol. It seems I can't be trusted. So I thought this would be a good alternative for me. I went 1st to the SlimFast website to read more about the plan, but didn't like the message board, so I returned here. I hope you all are doing well, and am very interested in your progress. I am 5'4, currently 184.5 for my official weigh in this morning!

Hi Barb. Welcome to this thread. I know it has been quite lonely in here. But I figure the new school year has started and mom's are really busy now. But that is okay I am here always just not as often.

Well that is great that you will begin the Slim Fast plan. I have been using it since last September 2001. I have to admit I didn't follow the plan exactly yet I am now at 199.5. So I have been doing very good. At the same time still enjoying my usual fat foods. I don't ever deprive myself and that could be a big reason why I haven't lost more. I am just excited that I am under 200.

My husband and my anniversary is coming up and I planned to ask for a tennis bracelet or a mother's ring. But I have been eyeballing this exercise machine (an elliptical machine). I have heard people getting big results using that machine. So I am thinking since I have a reason to spend that much money on me I should think...BIG!

Well I must go we are on our way to buy groceries and hopefully find my favorite Slim Fast flavor...orange pineapple. Talk later. Good Luck with the plan and stick with it. Drink lots of water always.

Well, today was DAY 1. Sent hubby to Walmart for Slimfast. He returned with case of Chocolate Royalle, Brownie Meal Bars, and Chocolate Peanut snack bars. He didnt return until after lunch so by then I was starving. I fixed dinner for the family and had the Brownie bar. It smelled and looked great. The first couple of bites were OK. Very chewy and didnt seem to break down in my mouth, making it difficult to swallow without LOTS of milk. I work nights so my meal times are strange, so that was breakfast. As a snack I had some popcorn, and a lean cuisine dinner. Later I had the snack bar and it was great. Tomorrow I will try the shake. Hope this works! Any suggestions for other good flavors? Would like to try the Granola bars.

Hi,
I am new to this part of the boards. I tried low carb and didn't have much success. Tomorrow is the first day of my new slimfast WOL. I am very excited.
I have about 120lbs to lose. I am 29 and have been carrying this extra weight for about 11 years now, I am sick of feeling this way. I have tried so many different things in the past, but I have never tried slimfast. So, here it goes. You guys have motivated me to really give this a try.
I will post weekly to help myself stick with it. I will also be looking to you all for guidance. Congrats to those of you who have lost weight and congrats to those of you like me are just taking the first step.
I will always be open for any helpful tips or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I stopped at Walmart this morning and got a few singles of the granola bars. So far the chocolate chip is excellent, I'd eat that anyway. I also had a chocolate Royale shake today, and kept it in the freezer until it was slushy, made a very big difference! Heres to day 2!

HI my name is Julie. I have lurked for some time but decided it was time to post. I have been doing Slim Fast for about 8 weeks now. The first 5 or so weeks i was very dedicated. The last couple of weeks I have started cheating a little. I feel like I can cheat now that I am so close to my goal of 160.

I am 5'9" and weighed 180. Today I am happy to say I am 163 pounds. I cannot believe it.....

Slim Fast really works if you don't cheat too much and get plenty of exercise.

I need all the help I can get. I have over 100 pounds to loose and if anyone has any tips. That would be great!!!!! I am trying to do slimfast and use WW points to figure the calorie part. I am not sure if that will work or not.:cbg: I tried putting frozen banana in my shake today and that was pretty good. I think I will try it with a frozen orange. I wonder how that would work? I really like the the peanut crunch snack bars. Taste like butterfingers to me. maybe too good for my own good. Well i am hungry now. I think I will look for a snack. Hope to hear from you all.

How's everyone doing? I am doing fine. My mom started a new weight challenge and the bank is rising to 500 bucks. My husband also joined which is great. I weighed in at 204 on my dad's scale but on my scale I am 195. I hate that but I am not going to let that discourage me. I am going to aim to weigh under 200 when we weigh out on that scale. The challenge will be for 8 weeks. I hope to get 15 lbs behind me.

On a very happy note...I was able to get into a pair of shorts that I never was able to wear before. I bought them on clearance a few years ago. When I bought them I couldn't fit into them but I couldn't resist the 5 dollar clearance tag. I figured I would commit to losing the weight and getting into them. But it never happened and here I am about a couple of years, give or take a few months, later fitting into them. I was so happy.

I have been able to do it with the help of Slim Fast...shakes, granola bars, snack bars, and of course exercise and watching my food intake.

As you all know I don't have much time to exercise lately between my 2jobs, credit courses, the family, and life. But my hubby bought me an elliptical machine. I LOVE IT! Boy it is challenging that is for sure. I hope to get this scale moving with the help of this machine. I have commited to 5 minutes a day on the machine. I think my body is adjusting so I think I can add a few more minutes to the routine.

Okay enough said. I hope everyone is doing well. All you newbies welcome. It is always great to have new ones coming into the thread. Go ahead and feel free to add comments, suggestions, success stories, and not so successful stories. We are here to support you and listen. talk later.

I went to Walmart last night to stock back up on my Slim Fast shakes and they are out of the Buy 6 Get 2 Free. That was a good deal for $4.08. Oh well.

I tried the peanut butter granola bar yesterday and it was pretty good. I also have a chocolate chip one in the cabinet. I might try it today. I love the shakes but it is nice to have an option.

Kina, good luck on your challenge. You can do it! Don't worry about those scales they are fickle.

I am just getting started using slim-fast and am having a terrible time sticking with it. I think it is because I use food for company and comfort....I'm really not sure what to replace it with.

Any suggestions for emotional eaters??

Kina
09-14-2002, 01:31 AM
Teddybe welcome to the thread. I think I used to be an emotional eater just didn't know it. But now that I have control of food I can see that yes I was an emotional eater and sometimes I slide downhill. I don't know how I got myself out of it but I think what it is that gets you out that groove is simple change of habit. If you know you are going through something that will cause you to emotional eat get yourself busy and away from food. Perhaps there is something you enjoy like working on a puzzle is soothing or listening to music. A friend of mine in college, believe me or not, colors in a coloring book. Hey whatever gets you in the right direction. But if you can't help it get something healthy and crunchy such as an apple or celery. But pay attention to everything. I think that is what got me through it.

I haven't seen much action in here you guys. You all were supposed to keep it humming while I was soooo busy with my 2 jobs and school. Well good news I was laid off from my evening job. So no more working 17 hour days. I am done with that.

i have been exercising daily on my elliptical machine. But I have to honestly admit that today and yesterday I didn't get on the machine although today I cut our back yard and it is a big back yard. So that has to count as a form of exercise.

I have been drinking my slim fast and currently am only 5.5 lbs away from my mini goal of 190. I can't wait to see the 80's but I am going to first focus on 190. I am very pleased with the fact that i have been able to maintain my weight under 200. that is truly amazing to me especially with the fact that I have not weighed this little since 1999.

Well I must go it is getting late. Take care all of you and I hope that you will all come back soon. Talk later.

Has anyone tried the Bananas N Cream? I notice that Slim Fast has a couple of new flavors and their doing a great job with the packaging of them because they look really tempting. I want to try the Bananas N Cream but I can't find them in the single cans anywhere they only have them in the case. I don't want to buy the case and not like it so if anyone has tried them let me know what they taste like. Do they tast like a banana shake (my favorite) or are they chalky?

Hello all! I posted to a thread a few days ago and now I seem to have lost the thread! Anyway, I started Slim Fast last Friday. I have been going to TOPS for SEVERAL weeks now and can't seem to lose steadily (lose 1, gain 2, lose 2, gain 2 back). Can I just say UUUGGGHHHH!!!! Since starting Slim Fast, I have lost 4-5 pounds. I plan on sticking to this diet plan, I hope I can follow thru! I've tried SF before, back in the mid-90's, and everything they make now seems to taste better and satisfy my hunger better! I'd like to try some flavors other than the chocolate shake, but I haven't worked up the courage yet. Does anyone have an opinion on the cranberry-apple? I ask because that flavor is on clearence at my local Wal-Mart (but it's only a bargain if I'll actually use it). You've all done so well! I love reading your posts! Maybe someday soon I'll have good news to post as well! Keep up the good work!

pretty--i just love the banana cream shakes. there not as good as the orange pineapple ones but they are killer!

Kina
09-18-2002, 09:28 PM
Hi new ones. I hope to see your posts often whether they are good ones or bad ones makes no difference to me.

I have to agree with Chell...the banana shakes are good. They aren't as good as the Orange Pineapple. The banana does not taste gritty actually I think that is the one thing that has improved with the Slim Fast shakes over the years. But they aren't as sweet (atleast to me) like the Orange Pineapple. At the same time PrettyNPink I once bought Srawberries N Cream and I was hoping for it to be sweeter than it was. So what I did so that the money wasn't a total loss...I bought bananas and strawberries. I would pour it into a big mug and blend either a banana or a few strawberries and it was YUMMY and not a loss at all.

4Myself~~~I have been wanting to try that cranberry apple but never seem to find it at WalMart. My biggest suggestion would be to look at how much water you are getting into your day. Your weight loss may be slowed down because of something as simple as water. Did you know that if you do not drink enough water your body automatically retains water causing you to weigh more and not show a loss on the scale. Do you exercise daily? That has truly helped me get the scale to move in the right direction. I didn't start losing weight steadily until I started exercising. Although I do plateau occassionally I don't let it discourage me. I would love to hear about your good news and not so good news. We can all benefit from everyone's trial and errors don't be shy.

Okay! I have to tell everyone ( this is my not so good news) you know how I have been using SF for a year now. I have been able to drink 2 a day and have one meal either for lunch or dinner. Well lately I am having to drink 3 practically. I don't know if it is because of the workouts on my machine that is using so much of my energy that I need more. I have been very bad with my food intake and I better get it in control or I am going to have major problems. I already started buying a few outifits at a time in my smaller sizes (as if I am SO small yeah right!) and if I don't watch it I won't be wearing them for very long. Monday and Tuesday was really bad for exercise because I didn't do it. So now I will have to double up in order to make my goal of 50 miles per week. Which I bet you I won't be doing that tonight because I have so much homework due tomorrow. :yikes: So I think I will be tripling my exercise for the next few days. That is so bad of me. Anyhow I think I better stop right here and get on that homework before it gets too late.

I hope to talk to everyone again. Bye.

Kina,
Thanks for the advice! I've been *trying* to drink 1/2 gal. of water every day. I actually should be getting more, but unfortunately, I'm not. I live in Arkansas, and it has been incredibly hot and HUMID here until the last week or so, so it's hard to get out and walk in the afternoons. I tried walking 2 miles at 5 a.m., and that lasted for two weeks or so. This past week, though, a friend from work and I are finally starting to walk 2 miles each afternoon. I'm hoping that will help out with the weight loss process! Lord knows I need something! SF is going well for me, so far. I think that I'm going to take the advice of an earlier post and try to find some singles cans of different flavors and try them out before I spend a lot of $$$.

Sounds as though you may be slightly stressed :). I hope that things smooth out for you soon. I have faith that someday SOON you will be wearing those smaller outfits!! I miss school--wish I had tons of homework to do!

Ciao Ladies,

I tried the bananna SF and I wasn't impressed. I stick to the basic flavors. ( Boring, I know ). I'm now documenting my daily calorie intake. I want to see if I can stay below 1200. I'll try it for about a month and see what happens.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Hi Cowgirl. It has been a very long time. Yes we have lots of new members.

I have to admit ladies I am not doing so well. I need some support and wisdom. I have been over snacking more than I wish to admit to. I am sure it is becuase I am stressed with school. But I have to get a handle on it before the scale start to slap me with some harsh reality. If I don't get it in check I will soon be seeing the 200s again!

Well I am heading back to my school books. I have tons of homework I have to get done before I head to bed. Talk later. I hope that everyone is doing well. Please post from time to time. I enjoy hearing and learning from all of you. Bye.

Hi Kina, I have the same trouble at times, serious munchies can't stop!:ink: I have found that it is usualy right before my TOM but sometimes not. For me it helps to just take one day and have a bag of white corn chips with salsa and low fat sour cream. Don't know why but it kills the munchies. I don't get them again for a long time. Pluss it is still somewhat healthy. I eat all I want but just till that bag is done than no more. Like mabe every two or three months.
here is something I tried and liked the other day. take the chocolate (soy) powder and mix with hot water instead of cold. It is like having hot chocolate for breakfast. I have only tried the soy so I don't know but the others would probably work too. :smug:
I have not been on the scale today but I did really well, no snackin for me today.
Also I pin a calander to the wall by my scale and write down any new weight, pluss I also keep a measuring tape there too and write down my measurements every couple of weeks. It helps keep me motivated when I notice those little things like 1\2 inch or so gone or a pound or two pluss you can look back and see where you've come from. Today I noticed that my belly does not stick out as far as my chest! For the first time in 5 years at least.:hat:

Starting weight 320
current 270
mini goal 260
ultimate goal 160 was 140 but I was happy at 160 in the past and that is ok by me.

hi everyone!!
this is my first time on 3fc. i have been reading some of the posts on slim fast. i am so tired of trying to lose weight that i am just going to focus on trying to put healthy things into my body. there are so many different kinds of diets out there so how are you supposed to know what is going to work for you? high carb, low carb, low fat...etc. so i bought a bunch of slim fast today. the powder and the ready to drink cans. i have read that they are very nutritious but i have also read on the negative side that they contain alot of sugar. so how am i supposed to know if i am one who cannot lose weight consuming alot of sugar...lol. how frustrating. so this is why i am just going to focus on nutrition and portion control. i do have alot of weight to lose (like 60 lbs) and i hope this will work. i thought i would post and become part of the "group" to help inspire me and i must say that just reading some of the posts has already done so. thanks for listening!

Hi Aimee welcome.
I know all about having to hear about the sugar. So what I do is cut it out or reduce the sugar I get outside the slimfast. I use Splenda in my coffee instead and avoid sugary and high carb foods. That seems to help. i also mostly just watch and make sure I eat healthy. The Slimfast started as a way to have lunches for work that were easy and quick. i was amaze to loose 20 pounds the first month, but I was very overweight and geting more excercise at the same time so it was a combination of several things. I am just slowly trying to change my eating habits and it is working. I hope you have sucess and keep coming back. This is a great place to get support when you don't get much from those around you at home. Just keep doing what is best for you and don't sweat the big stuff. just sweat!:D

Hello,
I just found this website in a magazine and decided to try it out. I have been using slimfast for awhile now(not very faithfully) I never had a weight problem until my third pregnancy and then POW! I had gained over 100 lbs!
About 6 years ago I was up to 265lbs-this from someone who at my heaviest was about 150lbs. I used slimfast and walked and I lost 65lbs. I was then down to 200lbs and stayed there for five years. I recently went through a rough year with my marriage breaking up and now I have decided to get with it and get my life back. I have been using slimfast and herballife plus doing the Walk away the pounds videos and I am now down to 185. I still have quite aways to go- my goal being 135. I could use all the help I can get and I hope I found the place to get it.
Thanks,
Nellie:)

Hello everyone. I have a very busy schedule so I seem to be MIA alot of times. But I do get to read as often as possible. I am happy to see all these new personalities here. That is great.

I hope all of you are doing wonderful. I have to say I had a .5 lb loss this morning. I am truly excited about this. I am now only 6 lbs away from my mini-goal. I would like to see 175 by Christmas. I wonder if that is too far fetched. I guess I could make a valid effort and see...right?

Nellie welcome to the thread. Since coming to this website I have probably lost the most weight I have ever in my dieting time. So I hope that you find what will pull you in the right direction to your goal.

Aimee how are you doing? I know it can be tough starting out but give it your best effort. It does work.

How is everyone else doing? I know this thread is not too active but it is a great place to come to when we need a kick in right direction.

Okay I must go...homework awaits my attention. Talk again.

Hello!

I've been offline for a little while. Kina, how are things going for ya? I asked on the exercise forum and thought maybe I should ask here, instead.

Staying on top of your homework?

Nellie, I hope things are going well for you. Sometimes it helps to take a day or two off. I, personally can't do that, EVER!! :( If I quit at all, I might as well hang it up!

Would type more, but no time now!

Hello,
I kind of noticed that this thread does not get much action. I am feeling pretty good today. I put on a pair of size 14's and I was in hog heaven. Later I was at my Mom's and she said she had some jeans for me but I was a little concerned because they were size 12's. Well, my Mom told me to try a pair on because the 14's were really baggy in the behind. I was rather skeptical but I did it anyway and I got the shock of my life because they actually fit. They are a bit snug in the waist but I could button them up and I have been wearing them all day. I have not been in a 14 or a 12 in six years. It really felt good and I am determined to keep on going.
I haven't weighed myself for a few days but I am apparently losing and it feels great.
So to all of you out there who are feeling discouraged just remember how great it feels to lose even if it only a pound or two.
Keep it up!

Isn't that just the best feeling in the world Nellie? I had the same sensation the other day. I put on a pair of pants that had already fit somewhat loose but this time OMG I had to get a safety pin to keep them on my hips. Oooow did I say hips? OMG I have hips. They are not that noticeable but they are coming back from the dead! LOL

Wow a size 14! Big congrats to you. I haven't worn a 14 since...geeze I don't even know when.

I know that is where I have been losing it mostly in my "dairy air" and my boobs. They say that is where we carry most of our excess weight.

I am doing good Cheryl. Still plugging away at the college books. I am already dieing for a break. But that will come sooner than I wish for it. I think the first break is in November for Thanksgiving. So I am really looking forward to that. I am still getting the exercise in. Not doing the Slim Fast just watching what I eat and trying to stay away from too much bread.

I better go it's late and I'm gettting tired. Talk again.
Oh! Sorry this thread has become a bit dry. We will have to make our best effort to keep it ALIVE!
Talk again another time.

Thanks for the encouragement! I have been feeling really good lately and everyday I just seem to keep getting smaller and it feels great. It seems with each pound lost I gain a bit more confidence.
Thanks for writing.
Keep going, you'll be glad you did.

That is great Nellie. Yes, everyday that goes by will improve your over all life. I know since I have dropped from 225 to what I am today roughly 195-196 it is a like a whole difference. It's like this...last Fall I helped this guy to look for a job and then just recently when the semester started he came into the office again and it was as if he only met me for the first time. He didn't remember me or nothing but he sure wanted to hold a conversation with me this time. I was like "Wow, I'm not invisible anymore but it is not the end of the road there is still a long ways to go." But I came home and told my DH that I was no longer invisible. Of course he wasn't crazy about it but I had no one else to tell. Besides it helps him to realize that he needs to appreciate me just a bit more every now and then.

So you are drinking the shakes from Slim Fast? What is the flavor that you drink? When I was drinking them I enjoyed drinking Orange Pineapple. I have a couple of 6 packs here and I have to keep myself from drinking them...DRs orders. But I love them.

I will talk to you again. I have to get lunch started for the kids. Keep it up but always remember it won't come off over night, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year. Take it day by day, pound by pound.

I'm new here - hello all! I really love Slimfast but I'm having trouble with having it two meals a day. I love it for breakfast, but am starving if I have it again for lunch or dinner, so I'm thinking about just having it once per day. :)

Kina - if I may jump in, why does your doctor forbid you to drink Slimfast? Just curious!! :)

Thanks!!! :)

Welcome Jennifer~~~Once per day wouldn't be a bad way to get the routine going...whatever works for you is the best way to get it going. Actually that is what I did. In the beginning (I know I am repeating myself from way back when oldies...BUT.)I could only stand drinking one shake and then eating regularly the other meals. And to be very honest I wouldn't even eat sensibly yet I was able to lose weight. I would also NOT drink one shake on the weekends. And I wouldn't even exercise until just recently. I have to say I did lose weight just not as fast as others would until I started drinking two shakes and exercising was when the weight really started to come off. But because I introduced the change slowly was my success to not giving up so easily.

But my DR wanted me to drop Slim Fast for a while because I had a fainting spell not too long ago. He felt that possibly my body had its fill of the Slim Fast. That at this point my body was using up a Slim Fast as if it were a soda pop or a candy bar and then dropping my sugar levels quickly. Actually I think I was just not getting enough calories into my system with all that I was doing as far as exercising and life. I just wasn't balancing it evenly.

I have not had a shake in about 2 or 3 weeks and I miss them greatly. Okay I have to get dinner started talk again.

New Body In Bama
10-14-2002, 09:36 PM
Hello - i was just browsing through - i am new to the board - i used to do slimfast too - the most i was ever able to pull off was 10 lbs. i recently went to a Dr. in our town and started her program and i have lost 45 pounds and just about 5 away from my personal goal! (my success story is posted on the success forum under "the only diet that has worked for me since my hysterectomy")

Slimfast had too many carbs for me. i now eat protein bars with low carbs. But i know slimfast works for some - it always would give a kick start but then i would get stuck after the 10 lbs.

Any success is success though - and i think everyone has to find what works for them and i am glad i finally did.

Good Luck to all

Hello,
I am still doing pretty good, and I feel great, I can not believe how much energy I have. I usually drink the Cappacinno ones for breakfast and eat lunch and for supper I will either eat a really light supper or have a variety of slimfast, I like to keep it interesting and so one night I might have a chocolate mocha or one of the other flavors.
I started out at 210 and I am down to 179, I have went from a size 16 to a 12. My goal is to get to 145.

Nellied6

I wasn't finished and I hit the enter button. I also need to make a revision. My actual goal is 135. That is what I weighed before my last pregnancy and I was pretty happy at that weight.
This website has so much information in it and it is really helpful. I just think it is great to be able to talk to people gong through the same thing I am and they understand just how hard it is. I am really sick of all my skinny friends telling to just eat less and exercise more. I know that is what it takes but that is easier said than done.
Well, I got to go and get my boy to bed.

Hi everyone! I hope all is well! I am here just checking in!

Hi Bama. Wow you have accomplished great heights...big thumbs up to you. Thanks for the info. Once I get the chance I will check that page. I hear it is very hard to lose weight after a operation of the kind. It's good to know at any age.

Hi Nellie! If you ever find yourself needing to backtrack and fix this or that on your post...if you look at your post you will see a button in the lower right corner that says "edit" if you click on it you go back to the typing box where you can make changes to your post.

But that is great that you remain focused! I have given my husband's diet a try...I guess it is something similar to what Bama is speaking of--the no carb diet. I have managed to go from 195 on Saturday to 192 as of this morning! I am so ready to see the 80s! But I have to say it is so hard to detour myself from the cookies and milk and all the other NO NOs. But I like what the scale is doing so I will continue to remind myself that as long as I follow the rules the scale will continue to go in the right direction.

I must run. Talk again.

Hi everybody,

I drink slim fast for breakfast everyday, and for lunch mon-fri. I have a fridge in my classroom, and it's the quickest thing to down while I grade papers! It keeps the hunger pains away for a few hours. My problem is my stress eating after work. With the kids at school (4th graders) and my own (5 and 2) at home, I want to eat all night! I'm going to try real hard now, because I know I can do it. I have 30 lbs. to lose and I'm going to do it. I don't hesitate to drink the shake, I look forward to it! I walk almost every night. I have to stop eating junk!

Thanks for listening,
Heidi

Heidi,

I love junk. Sigh.

Arkansas's State Fair is going on at the moment. I worked the USDA's booth in the fair three days last week. I ATE SO MUCH!!! The corn dogs, of course, are my favorite. Who am I kidding,EVERYTHING deep-fried is my favorite! I did manage to stay away from the deep-fried Twinkies and Snickers (I'd like to know what cruel person came up with THOSE).

As I said a few posts back, I have always been the type who cannot stray from my diet for even a day and get back on it successfully. This time I am trying, though. I gained FOUR pounds in the past five days. UGH!!!!!! :( I am seriously hoping that all of that is NOT weight that is going to "stick!"

Yesterday was the day for me to start my Slim-Fast again. I did very well while I was at work, but then I pigged out when I got home! I am going to do better tonight. I am determined.

Good luck to everyone else! Y'all are giving me hope!

4myself-

You sound just like me! Deep fried is the best, but the worst at the same time! Too yummy! Never tried twinkies or snickers!?!

I don't mind drinking my Slim Fast at work. It started out as a convenience not to have to pack a lunch, now I like the taste! And it keeps my stomach from growling. Have you ever tried the new Chocolate Peanut Nougut bars? They taste like a real Snickers! Not kidding!

I too come home and pig out! My biggest weakness is ice cream. Rite Aid has a flavor called Chocolate Malted Crunch and I just love it! I have some in my freezer, but soon I have visions of it hitting the garbage. I have to lose the weight! My goal is to go clothes shopping and not look like a total freak in a long sleeve shirt. My upper arms need some slimming down, (as well as the rest of my body).

Talk to ya later,
Heidi

Hi Heidi, I have to say I LOVE Slim Fast, I just can't have it right now...DRs orders. I am fighting myself because I want to have my usual convenience shake but I can't becuase the DR said so. I never had a problem drinking my shakes any given time. Actually after a while I think I became hooked on it. I just wanted a shake to quench my thirst or craving. I also love it because of its convenience.

Hi 4myself, how are you doing girl! Now why are you being so mean to us and speaking of those dreadful fattening but oh so delicious carnival foods? I love all that fried stuff too. aaaah! Let me share with you all something funny...a few years ago my grandmother passed on (yes this is going to get funny) and my children were a bit younger. My littlest one asked "Mommy, where did Momo go?" I told her "Heaven" She thinks and then asks "What does heaven look like?" I had to think about that one. So then I said "Heaven is whatever you want it to look like. It's like a blank page and you draw a house and then I draw a house. Your house will look different from mine. But it will still be special and we can still be together or we can visit other people." So then she says "I think Momo's heaven has a t.v." I said "Yes, possibly so." She says "What do you think your heaven will have?" I said "My heaven will have lots of trees and each tree will grow my favorite foods...always. I will be able to eat and eat and eat. AND I will never have to exercise to stay skinny because I will be skinny in heaven." She says "My heaven will have McDonalds!" Then all my kids started talking about their heaven.

So anyway those are the silly conversations we sometimes have. Okay I have to cut it short here DH is eyeballing the computer. Bye. I will talk to you all again.

Hi Kina,

What are you eating if you can't have a shake anymore? That would probably be the end of it for me. I would be eating ALL day long, if I had all those choices. HMMMM, breakfast I would eat 6 bowls of Cocoa Pebbles, lunch would be from the school cafeteria (very fattening!), and dinner would be just a continuation of eating, anything and everything. Why not? I blew it anyway.

I hope I never am faced with the situation you are in. Why did you have to stop? (boy, I sure am nosey today!) Just curious :)

Well it all started when I fainted. I went to visit the Dr and he said that there was nothing medically wrong with me. BUT he had a theory and that was that by body may have had its full of slim fast. Which meant that the shake was being taken into my body like a soda pop or a big candy bar. So that would charge my sugar levels way high and then when it used up the sugar it drop my levels way way way down.

So, in short, the DR felt it was best for me to find another way of getting my weight down and he really supported the "no carb" diet. So I have been doing that.

YES, it is very hard. I eat alot of deviled eggs but I hate that I have to take time to make something or pick up something because I haven't found a flavor that I like in the shakes. Owell.

Well I better get going. No problem on the questions that is how we get to know eachothers dieting secrets.

bye.

Hey ladies!
Everyone's been silent for awhile--I hope no news is good news!
My schedule at work has changed. I was working 9-hour days w/every other Friday off and now I've gone back to 8-hour days w/only the week-ends off. I am hoping that this will help to solve the week-end splurging problem that I always seem to have. Maybe I'll actually be able to KEEP OFF the lbs. I lose throughout the week.
It also helps that deer season is now open--every free minute my beau has will now be spent in the woods--no more eating out!! (Is it just me, or is it weird to be happy about NOT eating out?) I wish I was skinny. :(
Anyway!!
The last time I wrote I was discussing State Fair food and my inability to stay on my diet if I ever indulged once. Things got worse after that. I ate and ate and ate the rest of the week. BUT--ON A GOOD NOTE!!!!-- I have gotten back on my diet this week, and I have done so well!
And, y'all know, most of it is thanks to this forum. It helps so much to have you all to "listen" to me. And it helps to keep me on track knowing that I want to try to keep all of you motivated.

I hope everyone is having a good week. I hope kids, school and families are well.

Hi everyone! Hi Nellie and Cheryl wonderful hearing from you both. I have been busy with classes and kids. I have been so trying to stick to no carbs but it is difficult I have to say. Slim Fast wasn't this hard to follow. I never felt deprived of anything with slim fast and I never felt guilty for eating anything. But with this no carb there are so many No No's that you have no choice but to feel that you have to sneak a cookie or something. Which is a bad mix for a dieter you know?

So anyhow I have to say I truly did stress eat today. Here is why.
If you have seen the news it may have mentioned a tornado creating chaos in Texas. Actually it hit right outside the office that I work at on the College campus. I had heard the weather was getting bad so I figured I would call it a day and go pick up the kids and get home. Just as i was walking out at about 2:35pm I saw some other college workers standing outside looking up to the sky. The rain had started in really hard and the winds had picked up strongly. As I looked up I could see the image of Twister happening right before my eyes. The wind was moving in a circular motion with some debree. All of a sudden I hear a voice yell ''Every one inside head to the back of the building away from the windows!'' So as we were running in the door did not just close immediatley because the winds gushed through the breezeway pulling on the door. As we were watching our ears popped in such a way that caused us to clencth at them. The lights went out and the alarms started to go off. The wildness had passed. We went out to see the devestation cars that had been directly in the path of the tornado had all their windows busted out. An 18 wheeler that is used for the truck driving students had been pushed over on their sides. The library wall had been directly hit and was bashed in where a class was in session the debree fell on a teacher, that later died. A few students from that class had some injuries. Sever portable classrooms were demolished...luckily the students had left early for a field trip otherwise there would have been about 45 students in those classrooms. The student center across from our office had many windows shattered to peices. On the campus I work we have student training for firefighters, police, paramedics, Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, mechanics, welding, cosmetology and a few others I didn't mention. All in all I think we were in good hands and unfortunately all that with just one fatality...a Math instructor Mr. Gillis.

I wanted to give you as much info as possible. A friend took some pics. I'll see if I can get some scanned to share. Okay I will continue on another post.

Kina

Nellie~~~you and I have the same goal month. I would like to see 150 by April. I don't know that I can actually pull it off. Well atleast not at the rate I am going. If I keep it up. I need to find a different approach at this. What is your problem area? Mine is my waste/belly area.

Cheryl~~~should I say "Thank goodness for deer season" hahahaa that is so funny. I know what you mean about eating out. when I was working at me evening job it was so much easier to drop some weight because I was packing a lunch which meant plan and simple...NO TAKE OUT. I didn't have the excuse of ordering pizza. Of course I would order pizza occassionally for the family before leaving for work but I would make sure I had already packed a salad before th pizza got there or I would give the money to my mom and have her order it. Don't beat yourself up over eating as much as you do any given day. I believe that when you do that it causes more troubles in the long run than you truly need.

Other than the tornado I have been trying to not stress eat over my DHs X-wife. She seems to have crawled back into her corner so maybe we won't hear from her for a while maybe another 3 years. LOL Other than that I am doing quite well with school and the family. The boys will be having their birthday party this weekend.

I am going to stop here I am getting quite tired. Keep in touch.

I am so close I can taste it! Woohoo todays weigh in 190.5 ! How much better can life get.

Oboy! I have had had some excitement these past few day and it was all downhill until today's weight in.

1.) A tornado hits right outside the office I work in on the College campus kills one instructor.:(
2.) I slip off the back porch steps and really hurt myself. Mind you this is the 2nd time this year.
3.) I lock myself out of the house. Thankfully I had my cell phone with me.:stress:

I figured well it can only go up from here! :crossed: Then I weighed myself and I knew the sun was going to finally shine on me. Woohoo! 190.5.

Okay well I am out of here. I wanted to share the success! I hope all of you are doing well. Take care.

Hey gals! Hope all is well!

I couldn't sleep last night, so I wrote out my weight loss goals. Man, it looks so bad in writing! My ultimate goal is to lose 85 pounds (HOW impossible does that sound!?). I broke that down into several 20-pound mini goals. After that, I wrote out "rules" that I'm going to TRY to follow on my plan. I am still going to incorporate Slim Fast into my daily food intake, but I'm going to count calories in addition to that.
I was just feeling down yesterday because the scales just WILL NOT BUDGE. After I put everything in writing, though, I felt better. Maybe that will help me keep a committment to myself.

4myself~~~as long as you have a plan you will succeed. Keep up the great efforts. I have to say the 3.5 lbs I had lost...well I found them. I am back up to 194 but I can atleast say that I have lost inches which that in itself is quite satisfying. I personally like to work in 10 mini goals. That way it doesn't seem so big. Whatever works for you will be good and always allow yourself to modify your goals. Sorry I didn't post sooner; the semester is nearly coming to an end and they seem to load the work even more so.

I have to get some exercise in and showered we are going to the movies to see the new Harry Potter. Lots of hugs to you all.

Oh, y'all. I need help BAD. Just some kind of inspiration, I don't know. I did REALLY well on my died all last week, even on the week-end. I walked my 10 miles and I exercised every night. I only lost ONE pound, but my body feel much better!

The problem is that I broke up with my boyfriend/fiance of 4/1 years. I've told everyone that I'm fine, which I really AM better than I expected I would be. BUT, at the same time, I HURT! And, deep down inside, I have this huge fear that I am going to end up alone and I am just generally unloveable! I don't know WHY I feel that way, because this was one of those relationships that was never meant to be--we were both rebounds, and he (I hate to admit this) was mean to me at times (NEVER physically, but mentally).

All I want to do is go to Kroger across the street and buy a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

HELP!!!

Kina

4myself~~~How are you holding up baby girl? I hope this mornig found you in better spirits.

I am sorry you are going through this horrible feeling. You know mental and verbal abuse can be just as bad and painful as physical abuse...it's just that it doesn't have a visual bruise staring right back at the world. But when we stand in front of the mirror we see them all over us.

I know you don't want to hear this but I would rather be alone in this world than be in an abusive relationship for the rest of my life on earth. I think I would enjoy life better that way if given the choice. Really and truly how can anyone be alone in this busy world?

You don't need anyone in your life that can't appreciate your being...inside and out. Nobody deserves to be abused in ANYway. Go ahead and eat that chocolate chip cookie dough if it makes you feel better then get back into the game. I think you should turn this feeling around and play your card in your favor. If you must eat that ice cream then trade off a few crunches for every spoonful...okay.

always know that you are loved and wanted. I better get going. Take care. Many hugs and smiles to you.

Hello everybody: I am a newbie to this website and forum and would like to join in if I may. I've just completed my 4th week on Slim Fast and have dropped 14 lbs. so far. I plan to continue doing this on my own, for myself and am trying to stay motivated. I've been using the SF soy protein cafe mocha or chocolate (royale) for breakfast and a convenience meal (Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice type) with a salad for lunch, then another shake with some fruit for dinner. During the day I snack on fruits or pretzels...haven't gotten bored with the routine, rather, I thrive on it. I've only been walking for exercise so far and have been thinking about joining a ladies-only fitness/weight-loss facility--but have been having that catch 22 feeling...I feel too fat and embarrassed about exercising in public, but know that if I don't get the exercise going, I'm never going to drop this weight. I do try to go walking every day, if not every other day but I'm starting to feel like it's not enough. Any words of advise or motivation would be appreciated.

Kina, thanks for your words of support. I am doing much better now. I stuck to my diet, managed to say no to the cookie dough! And I feel like I really accomplished something. I walked a couple extra miles instead.

I've been faithfully doing my exercises every night and walking as much as possible. I've only dropped a couple of pounds, but man are my clothes baggin'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I was glad to visit 3FC again and see some talk about Slim Fast. About a 1 1/2 years ago I lost 20 pounds on Slim Fast, visited 3FC but there was not too much support for the product.

I have spent the past 2 days read every post under this thread. Kina you seem to be the foundation behind this thread. Thank you for your stories, progress reports and support of everyone!! Congrats on your weight lose.

Why am I here?? I gained the 20 pounds back and then some. I think I gained it all back in the past 3 months. I know something is wrong when I am waking up each morning already feeling bloated and like I just ate a three course meal. Eating in my house with just me and my mom has been crazy. We want pumkpin pie for Thanksgiving, so we bake one....eat the entire pie within 3 hours. I had a taste for cake with chocolate icing....bake one and eat the entire cake within 24 hours. On top of that I LOVE ice cream...need I say more.

My goal is to lose 30 pounds!!! I have started back on Slim Fast this morning full force. I like a Chocolate Royale for breakfast, a chocolate chip granola bar or cookie dough bar for breaskfast.

Glad to meet everyone and hope to get to know everyone better!! 3FC is a create source of support!!

fondly,

Hello Didja!!

I know what you mean about waking up already feeling full!! I've done nothing but that since about the day BEFORE Thanksgiving! I have just about decided that until after all the holiday fuss is over, I may as well hang up any type of diet plan!

I love Slim Fast! When I actually Stick to the program, I do really well with it!

I hope all goes well for you!

Hello to everyone who hasn't posted in awhile, too. I hope everyone is doing great on their diets, and not getting discouraged if that isn't the case!

4myself,

Don't totally give up over the holidays. For the everage person the holidays promise to put on at least 10 pounds. For those of us that struggle with our weight it could be much worse. I plan to be at maybe 80% over the holidays. If most days I stay on course but eat a cookie or two, I believe that I will be ok. Maybe I will get the guts to resist sweets all together.:)

Slimfast is convenient...maybe I will even take it to parties with me ???

I am curious to know how everyone else is planning on getting through the holidays??

Stay STRONG!!!

Kina: I am also finishing the last week of school. I work full-time and go to school full-time in the evenings. You know what that means....plenty of vending machine junk. I am trying really hard to do other things during our breaks, like take a walk around the block of call someone up to say hello. This gut is driving me nuts.

Anxiously waiting to try the peanut butter granola bar for dinner....

Good luck with your finals! I know what you mean. I am a stress eater although last night I was making myself sick to my stomach stressing over my finals. I am not one to stress over finals but for some reason this semester is getting the best of me.

All this week is Christmas parties at the kids school...OMG! HELP! Wish me luck I have to make pigs in a blanket. thank goodness I am not crazy about those things.

Ooow...I really enjoyed the granola bars by Slim Fast. I just wished they were crunchy instead of chewy.

You all know I am not doing Slim Fast anymore...right? It's okay this is where I got my start so it doesn't matter. I have to get going and do some studying. Talk to you all later. 4myself! Hi!

bye.
