I`m Stella and I live in Scotland. Glad to have found this community!
After years of half-hearted efforts to lose some 2st (cw 11st) I always gave up within the first week. I`m now inspired again to really try.
Apart from excercising (which I always did) I`d like to have a serious look at my carb intake, as I feel that this is my biggest weakness. I have always been kidding myself that a high carb diet is low in fat and therefore figure-friendly. But my weight remained stagnant for some 5 years now, so eating like this cannot be the answer.
My plan is to continue eating muesli in the morning, eat less carbs at lunch and very little, if any, at night.
I found that I was eating way too many carbs too. Though, I will tell you - balancing my calories EVERY time that I eat works best for me. I try to keep a 40/30/30 split. Getting enough fat and protein with the carbs makes such a difference.

Hello Stella and welcome! Your intro caught my eye because I have traveled soooooo many places around the world and my favorite city of ALL TIME was Edinburgh Scotland! Gorgeous and people were incredible gracious and friendly.
Also... most places were charging tourists extra for concerts, etc... but at Edinburgh I went to a Scottish festival... they were giving us DISCOUNTS by showing our passports for being guests to their city. Now THAT is classy.
Yes, they do that because they want tourists to have a good experience and share that at home! :-)
Hubby (local) told me something interesting: If they give you a ticket for traffic offences including incorrect parking, and you tell them that you are a tourist, they wave the fine and let you off. They acknowledge that most tourists do not come from a country where you drive on the left hand side and also that Edinburgh can be difficult to get around and park. (If it ever happens to me, I may put on my thickest German accent and try out out, lol!)
LOL well Stella, it was years ago when I was there and I am still telling people about it as you can see. Not to mention the concert was absolutely phenomenal. Some kind of Scottish dancing and in a big hall -- you probably know what it is ha. I think there was some kind of special "box" that was reserved for the queen or something...?? somebody "big" anyway, ha.
You may have been in the film house. They have an extra balcony for the Royal Family (whoever that is, at the time). I think the Royal Family can invite people (visiting politicians?) to sit there which is a great honour.
