Veggie 'buffalo chicken wings' that work
I decided to stop eating meat and chicken a couple of months ago for a variety of reasons. One of the things I have missed is chicken wings. When I was doing my masters research at Penn State in State College, PA I almost lived on chicken wings. They had numerous bars within walking distance of where I lived and each other that had 10 cent chicken wings nights. Ok I will admit giving up meat and chicken hasn't been that hard for me personally but I do miss chicken wings.
So I saw a box of Morningstar farms veggie chicken wings. My first encounter with MS farms was with a horrible tasting veggie burger but I know that the taste of the products can vary tremendously. So I bought some, put a half dozen in the microwave and broke out the tasbco. Now I did not eat any without tasbco but with the tasbco they were.....really quite good. The outside was crunchy, the inside was white to look like chicken and with the tasbco they were a real passable and enjoyable subsitute. Now these are not quite diet food. One serving which I think was 6 'wings' has 14% unsaturated, 8% saturated fat for daily recommended. That is probably a lot better then regular wings and the fat they have probably contributes to the good taste. However if you are a vegetarian and miss the taste of chicken wings...well it is a sacrifice, but this product brings back some if not most of what we are missing. Caveat buy some tasbaco to lather on it. If you love chicken wings you probably have some anyway.
