UK Fat Chicks - A 6 week countdown - anyone want to join in?
When I was around these parts many moons ago, we used to have regular, short 'races'. Someone would post one up and keep track of everyones loss for the period.
Anyone taking part logged in once a week and posted their loss (or gain :( ) and once a week a round up of that weeks stats was posted by the OP!
I haven't seen one around recently, so I thought I'd start one.
I've Got the June bug! ends June 27th
I pledge a whole stone, 14lbs, as I am about to start the GL diet and to use my new Wii personal coach lady, woman, thingy!

Oh I'd love to get in on this one, it sounds perfect because I have a big recital coming up on June 23rd and I need motivation during this busy time.
I will shoot for 10-12lbs because my weightloss has really been slowing down recently and I don't want to not meet the goal!

Today is Sunday, May 17th. I will join the 6-week challenge for 9 pounds. (1.5 lbs a week is huge for me, as I lose weight verrrrrrry slowly even though I stick to plan.) So, by June 27 I will be 253.
SW (May 17) .... 262
CW (May 17) .... 262
GW (June 27).... 253

Yes :)
Current weight is 252 lb and would love to lose a stone by then (I've been losing 2lb most weeks so think 10-12 lb is more realistic but since everyone else thinks they can lose a stone I may as well try too - would love to be down to 17 stones by the end of June :) )

I wanna aim for 7lbs? I think that would be a huge achievement, but it's more about going down a dress size and building muscle.
Nutrition
I'm pretty sure I'm going the low kcal route, lots of lean meats w/ broccoli, Oats, protein shake etc.
And lifting heavy again at the gym.
Hmm before 4pm: Oats, fruits, eggs, wholegrain bread. After 4pm: lean meats and veggies. (Although I'll still probably drink alcohol)

Do you have room for another one from across the ocean? I would love to join this challenge, as I've been in a slump for months now. With summer on the horizon, I feel at once disappointed in myself but also energized and motivated at the thought that I can and need to recommit - to losing, but also to health.
Unfortunately I've gained back to 156, and I'll set the goal to be at 149 by June 27... under 150.
Please let me know if it's ok for another non UK chick to join! :)

I had a goodish day - diet OK, exercise no way! But as I am currentl fighting off hayfever that over the counter pills won't conatin, I'm not doing too badly (stuffy nose and all).
This GL diet is (on day 2) a good thing. Why didn't you lot tell me about it before? It is really easy to do and I still feel really stuffed - after religiously measuring everything and no cheating!

Hi all,
Thanks for welcoming me!
Stef - Thanks so much for coordinating this thread. I am SO glad to have accountability again because being accountable to just myself wasn't helping. Glad to hear you had a good day... what is the GL diet? I like the idea of being stuffed with no cheating!
Starbuck - great job on the loss!
I have been feeling really tired today... dragging around. I am trying to find the energy to work in the garden a bit and go for a walk. Since I am now committed to this challenge, I have also decided to start consistently counting calories again. So, I'm off to enter everything in dailyplate and go for a walk.

Hi Ellie - that sounds like one severe diet hun!
I'm doing one that you might want to swap to when you have got that first lump off :o
It is the GL diet - look up The Holford Diet and GL diet on-line.
It is a low(er) carbs one, but not restrictive. It might be a goody for you to move onto for slower more sustainable loss and then long term maintenance. So far I am getting good results on it :D
Welcome to the 6 week challenge, I shall add you to tomorrows weigh in.
Good luck

Yep, it is pretty severe, but the theory is that the benefits of actually losing the weight far out weigh the ills of fast weight loss. Somebody like me, who wants everything now, gets impatient with the slow and steady approach, and thus abandons it all together. (tried and tested on my part)
It is supervised by a doctor though (a real one!) and there are lots of steps later on to re-introduce 'normal' food and lose the last couple of stone slower etc, so am happy with it for now - it's pretty fascinating actually, all the science bit, and your body going in to ketosis and all that.
Thanks again
Ellie

Thanks for replying Ellie,
In truth I was a bit worried... but if you are under a GP and are getting all of the science to support your thinking and losing, then I shall relax!
(I was a healthy living consultant in a previous life and I still feel the urge to advise people).
It sounds like you have a good GP, often they don't have the time, training or inclination to help people in that way!
Anyhoo, welcome and good luck! :D

Thanks so much, Stef!! I know it must be time consuming to compile the results - it definitely adds a huge layer of ACCOUNTABILITY and MOTIVATION for me to see it in blace and white and be part of a group challenge!
My goals this week are to continue counting calories on dailyplate and exercise at least 5 days!
Have a healthy day, girls!
Oh, it's going to be a hard week to follow. Holiday weekend, DH is home, wine has been drunk and the GL diet got forgotten.
Still, I'll have at least 5 days to get a little bit down. And I should be able to do a lot more exercise this week!
Fingers crossed, mouth stitched closed and walking shoes firmlay laced on!
I've got a pair of those MBTs that are just about worn in now, so I shall start my morning walks again - I use a book, Nina Barough's Walking for Fitness that has some great tips and a variety of walking programmes. It is great!
I bought a neon yellow hoody from M+S, cleaned out my water bottles and am ready to go!
I have even had a look at a half marathon for next March....... I may even make it!
So here I go:
Food Goal:
Eat a GL breakfast everyday
Exercise Goal:
Walk twice this week
Wii/yoga every day, 20 minutes minimum.
I've had a bad week. I ended up with one lb on. Will have to improve this week.

Hiya touchmytoes, welcome to 3FC.
In order to get a signature you need to have been a member for at least 20 days and you need to have over 20 posts.
I'm not sure if a stone in a month is possible as it would depend but you can definitely be achieved by August 19th. Just take things slow and don't try to rush it as this could have the opposite effect.
I'll see you around the forum :)

OMG OMG! :carrot: I've lost 4.8lb since Monday! That's amazing but I think it's probably because i've been doing lots of exercise - normally when I diet I don't bother to exercise but I made things different this time and it is really paying off. So now I weigh 154.6lb! Yay yay yay! (I've decided to make Friday my official weigh in day).

Well done BeautyandtheBeast!
Starbuck, like all of us you know what it's like, it doesn't always go the way you want, just stick to it! I don't know what you eating/doing, but maybe eating a lil more or less may help(for a brief period). or changing your exercise routine?
Welcome newies!
I've been eating less, althought feeling entierly bloated all the time! and still have cravings, I've been eating an egg scrambled w/ some soya milk and ham for breakfasts and lunches.
and different foods for dinner and later on in the evening. :)
I weigh tomorrow morning for Sunday, last Saturday I was 8.1 :S

Way to go ladies, you are doing awesome!
I don't know where I went wrong (well actually I do) it may have something to do with eating too many carbs, and my son's birthday party (cake, pizza need I say more)
Started off on Monday weighing in at 251 so I guess that's not so bad.
Onwards and forwards. Trully I must have lost some weight today after all the gardening and excercise....
We shall see next week what is to be of me...

Good Morning Everyone!
Things are going well here, not expecting a huge loss this week as my weight loss is really starting to slow down. I start a bootcamp class at my gym next week though...it's 3 days a week at 6 a friggin' clock in the morning. I sure hope something good comes out of it. I hope you are all doing well also...I know I'm not able to post that much, but I do keep up with reading the thread. It is interesting to me that so many of us have issues with how often we weigh in...for me I go back and forth between weighing every day and weighing once a week. If I weigh everyday though I have to be very careful that it doesn't get unhealthy...as it has in the past.

The only way I know to get rid of cellulite is to disguise it!
Dry brushing works well but you have to stick at it, but as it also makes you FEEL better if it becomes part of yuor self pampering routine, I don't care if the 'science' behind it is all hogwash!
A lecturer once described it as a small irittation that plumps up the dimpled in skin so it all looks flatter.
Google it and you'll find loads of sites. Have fun!

I will never understand weight loss.
3lb lost. Weighed myself today instead of tomorrow, won't be tomorrow in case I'm heavier on Tuesdays :-) Now 241lb BUT I missed 2 days of exercise, had KFC on Saturday (though only had 2 pieces of chicken and a few chips not many). and have generally been eating less healthily than the previous 10-12 weeks (though have tried to stay roughly within calories, but probably was higher than previous weeks). Need to get back to eating more healthily as I don't think a reasonable amount of weight loss will continue if I don't.
3lb to go to mini goal. Hopefully I can do it. Really want to be below 17 stones - will be a big achievement for me.

ive lost motivation, although joined this in late may, i did expect to lose a little more than this.
im struggling getting lower than 10.2- 10.1...
gonna hit the gym tomorrow and up the fitness for the next 2 months...anyone aiming to keep this going for longer than the end of june? how about the end of july?
went to have hair done on the weekend, (family run business) have known them all for years and years, and they all just looked at me and said....'oh your looking relaxed?!!' translated to...hey you podge!!
im not looking for a super bod, just to lose another half a stone before i go on hols....ive never felt so massive!! humph!! im pear shaped though which means that the weight seems to come off my boobs and top half but i still have a massive bum!!
ladies....help!!

I hope I get another pound this week.....
Don't worry, touchmytoes, I'll probably set up a Jumping July Challenge - it may even involve skipping ropes, trampolines, rebounders, pogo sticks and anything else that makes us work those legs!
:trampo:
Just keep on plugging at it. It'll work eventually (she hopes) :D

You stayed the same even though you are all those custard creams and crisps :) That's good :) Watch the salt in soup - drink lots of water too to help with a good weight loss.

OMG, this is slooooooow-going! My last report was June 3 and I was at 257, so I've only lost one lb. to 256 in 15 days!!!! That is slow, even for me.
I have been on-plan the whole time, the only thing I can think of is to up my exercise. I sure would like to lose that next 3 pounds by June 27, but it's only 9 days away!!! Arghghghghgh.
One possibility -- I have noticed that I do hover around a weight for awhile, and then when I lose it's usually in 2 or 3 lb. increments overnight. Since I've been in the "hovering" stage for awhile, I'm praying for another semi-miracle!

I'm feeling quite smug, as usually when i go away on business is tough tough tough, but 3 out of 4 nights, i'v managed to stay in places with Gyms, and have actually used them!!! i even purchased a pair of speedo togs to go for a swim, that's my first outing in a swim suit for a long long time....why oh why do the sporty ones have the backs cut out to expose the ever present back flab...i mean why?
Think i might post my weight again this week, as am dying to hop on the scales when I get home! Hope i'm not disappointed

Hi, everyone.
Weigh in day for me and I'm happy to report a 2.2 lb loss. One more week and less than 1 lb to go for this challenge. Hope I get there!
Good luck, everyone!
After all I said I am abslutely guaranteed to gain this week.
I teach and so have had thank you choccies, a goodbye BBQ, a staff leavng meal all in 1 week.
Next week we have a department meal, a pig roast and a high tea for another staff leaver!
Oops!
Never mind, Jumping July will sort that out as I will be able to hit the gym now there are no students in it :D
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh - why is it never easy?

This may not be quite fair, but I'm out of town and weighing myself on the only scale I have access to and it shows me at .... 252! So I am going to take it even though I suspect it's a little light. I really have stuck to plan, and I feel good about that. I've also been traveling for 3 days and I've done well and tracked my calories. Thank you for this challenge! C.J.
