Overeaters Anonymous - someone help me start?
05-13-2009, 02:21 PM
there's so much out there on the web (OA, FAA, greysheeters, etc.) and I don't know what to do or where to start. I know there are local OA meetings but I have been to a meeting in the past and I didn't "get" it. Is there anyone who does these programs online and can help me figure out where there are online meetings or how to do the phone meetings and stuff?
Welcome to OA.
The site to go to www.oa.org click on meetings and you will find on line meetings and telephone meetings.
If you are new to OA it is suggested that you attend at least 6 meetings before you decide if OA might be for you. It is not a quick fix. If you decide
OA is for you my suggestion is to get a sponsor as soon as you can to help
you through the steps.
Please keep asking questions and keep coming back.

Hi, I am doing FA which is Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous. There are no meetings within 2 hours of me but I was able to get a sponsor and I can go to AA meetings of which there are a ton around here (just change alcohol to food!). I just started and today is my 3rd day. If you want any info on FA, let me know! :)
