Smile Where to buy nuts?

I love eating raw nuts, like pecans, walnuts, and almonds. Yum!

But I recently just had to restock them (first time in more than a year - fell off the wagon) and realized how expensive they are! I got a bag of walnuts for almost $7! I was wondering if anyone knew where/how to buy some cheaply priced nuts? Or is this about as cheap as it gets?

The only place in my grocery store I could find nuts was in the baking aisle. Maybe this had to do with it?

I buy them at the Farmer's Market. I typically just buy the raw almonds. They are $6/lb. there. I don't think they are expensive but I only eat 10 a day (high fat/calorie content) so it lasts a long while.

I love Trader Joe's nuts. They even have pre-measured bags...I usually get the lightly salted almonds with 13 individual bags for about $5 for the entire pack.

Costco and Sam's both sell large bags of raw nuts. You have to hunt for them, though, don't be fooled by the heavily salted cashews that they have down near the candy aisle. I don't remember the prices, but I bet it's lower than the supermarket. Costco has almonds & pecans. Sam's has a bag of mixed nuts that includes macademia nuts - yum!

Trader Joe's is also good, as someone mentioned, if you have one near you.

I also buy raw nuts at Costco, almonds and pecans (I think they have others). They're usually with the dried fruit. If you're really stuck for local, try:

The other option would be a bulk food store if you have one. I sometimes buy my soy nuts there as they have more variety than the grocery store.

I buy at Costco or Whole Foods or other places that sell in bulk.

I buy raw nuts at Trader Joe's. I prefer to get them in smaller quantities than Costco provides. I keep them in the freezer and use as needed.
