Well, it's 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, I'm at work already--is that even legal? ;)

Not that I'm worried about anyone else posting at this ungodly hour, but just in case, I'll be back to post in a second.

Good morning ladies--

Not much going on here, but as you can tell from my previous post, it's still pretty darn early. I came in at 6 this morning and will be leaving at 1--I get Direct TV installed today, can't wait! I'm drinking the bitterest cup of coffee ever (oh, it's nasty, even with cream and sugar), hoping it will assist in keeping me awake. We'll see how we do...

Have WI tonight... Not sure how I feel about that. I didn't have a very good week last week. But, I'm wiping the slate clean and mentally starting over from this weight. I started re-reading Week One last night and will continue to read them.

But, I'm not doing too badly in reaching my swimsuit season challenge goal which was to eat a fresh fruit/vegetable for lunch and one for dinner and to drink my water and exercise 3 times a week. So, I don't feel too bad about myself. :)

Well, ladies, I'm going to try to get a little work done and will check back in later. Have a great day!!

Morning

Jess - I thought I got to work early, but I think my record is 6:45 - at least you get to leave early, that's a bonus!

So I started off yesterday with full intentions of logging my food and staying within range. But....last night for dinner BF and I went to a fondue restaurant. Needless to say, I ate a ton. We started off with a cheese course, luckily we got my least favorite kind so I didn't eat a TON of it, but it easily was made with a lb of cheese - and that is supposed to be for two people!! I probably had 4 very small (bit bigger than croutons) pieces of bread, a few tortilla chips and apples, carrots and celery. Could have been worse. Then came the salad with full fat dressing of course. For the main course I managed to steer BF away from the traditional oil and we cooked in a vegetable broth instead. In reality, the entree probably wasn't bad at all - chicken breast, filet mingion and broccoli. I did however try out all the dipping sauces which I'm sure added lots of fat and calories. Desert is where the whole thing got blown - dark chocolate with flambed marshmallow and oreo cookies....and we dipped in bites of fruit, brownie and cake. Plus a bottle of champagne. It was a very nice dinner and very romantic, but very indulgent :ink:

Did I mention it was my suggestion to go there? :o Tonight I'm thinking we should just grill out in the backyard or something...that way I'll have a little more control over what I'll be eating!

Lexxy--

I have to tell you how glad I am that things are worked out between you and BF. I literally was worried about it all night last night--stuff like that with my own BF gets me so stressed, so I was feeling sympathy stress.

No sense kicking yourself in the backside for last night, it sounds like it was more than worth the points spent for the night of romance. I know that when BF and I go out to eat anywhere, I'm so glad that we're actually doing something that I forget all about points because I want to really enjoy myself and not worry about restraining myself. I have to ask you this--were you guys dipping and feeding each other and cute things like that? After a year and a half together and many things dropped in my lap, we no longer feed each other...

OK, back to work. Can you tell I really don't want to do much at work today? I think it's the stormy weather and the fact that I came in early.

Jess, You sound so motivated! Awesome....you're making your challnge too. We'll see if I make mine! Agh! Sorry you had to get up early.

Lexxy, I'm glad things with your boyfriend are good. And what a nice way to spend an evening... your dinner totally sounds divine! We're going to be eating healthy for the rest of our lives... and so we can't cut out dinners like that forever.... we watch what we eat most of the time, and then splurge a little. Sounds worth the indulgence.

I weigh in at lunch. I'm pretty positive about it. I was up 1.5 last week, but I think it was all water (I was on my period), so I'm expecting to take that 1.5 off, plus hopefully another half pound in addition. My Friday wasn't spectacular and I had 3 drinks on Saturday.... but I exercised every day and ate within my range 5/7 days. I should be in good shape... I'll keep y'all posted.

I have pictures back from thje developer of some recent pics... so I'll see if I can scan them in today.

Ali - great to hear from you again. I bet I was MIA longer than you were. How have things been?????

Okay - I'll check in soon!

Kier - we were posting at the same time. Good morning. :) I don't mind the young guys... but there does seem to be a bit of a double standand. But I'm all about breaking barriers!!! :) Of course I haven't heard from him.... but like I said... I'm not bummed at all. Saturday was fun anyway! Mmmm Ice cream cake is my favorite. Yeah - 45 minutes of cardio is at least 300 calories, if not more.... and I bet it was worth the cake!

Good morning ladies! :)

Jess ~ Wow, you are a woman getting to work that early. If I didn't have a family to get ready in the morning, I would love to work like 6-3 or something, more time in the afternoon's to do something! I completely understand about wiping the slate clean. I did that too this week, had an awful weekend, and am regrouping this week. I am doing pretty well. Got in two walks yesterday too. Keep up the good work!!!

Lexxy ~ Your evening sounds wonderful, my DH is non-romantic, so I can't even imagine having an evening like that, you are lucky...and I agree, don't worry about the points, just do you best the rest of the week. How about grilled chicken and vegetables on the grill tonight?? :)

Kier ~ I know where you are coming from with the ice cream cake, I have had a hard time staying away from ice cream lately. My addiction now is New York Vanilla Ice Cream with Magic Shell on it....remember that stuff???

Lisa ~ You are going wonderfully with the program...I am so proud of you!! We have to see pics, so post them soon!! And, I agree, don't worry about the age difference...I hope he calls!! :)

Hi to everyone else...Jen (I hope you are meeting lots of gorgeous Italian men....) Jen (where are you and how is Emma!), Ali, Trish, Angie, KT and everyone else that I missed!!

Not much new with me, have been good this week and eating within my points, exercise is a struggle, but have been walking during work, and hope to get on the treadmill tonight.

I am in the midst of planning my boss's retirement party (they are big "to-do's" here at the University, food, dancing etc. so it has monopolized much of my time the last few months.) The party is next Thursday, so after that is over, my time will one again be more free.

I am trying to find a good place to buy comforters and general bedding from for our new house. I am re-doing all of the bedrooms except my sons. (He just got new a year ago), but I am struggling. I just bought a new comforter set from Sears last year for DH and I's bedroom, and it was like $100.00, and it has held up ok., but really faded (I have only ever dry cleaned it) and worn, I thought it would be better quality than that.

Anyway, if anyone has suggestions for good comforters (I like contemporary styles) but not outrageous prices (I won't spend $300.00 on just the comforter!) let me know!! :)

Well, I don't know much more than that, I will check back later, I am not feeling very ambitious today....:)

Ok, now I have cravings for fondue and magic shell! Thank God my car is in for repairs so I have no way to drive to a grocery store! I did discover skinny cow ice cream treats this weekend (2 points for an ice cream sandwich that honestly doesn't taste too lowfat) so that is a good thing. I have a vacation coming up next week, so hopefully those are sold where we are going and I won't feel too deprived while everyone else in my family is eating Moose Tracks if I have my skinny cows. Have a great day everyone...

Morning Ladies -

I'm trying to decide if today is a good day or not. I seem to have found my motivation again, was totally OP yesterday, and had awesome work-out's yesterday (walked 6 mi in 80 minutes) and today (spent 2 hrs in the gym!). On the other hand, I came home to a flood last night that was in my utility room and had mananged to soak part of my living room carpet which means another arguement with the builder and plumber. I've also realized that the members of my family who said they'd help me landscape my yard aren't actually going to follow through. I spent part of my weekend researching and planning where to put beds and which shrubs/trees to buy, but I'm going to have to rent a tiller and create the beds and handle the planting myself this coming weekend. Does anyone know how to get a tree in a Cavalier? Or better yet, where I can rent a yard boy?

Jess - sounds like you are doing well with your eating plan. Keep up the hard work!

Lexxy - glad thing worked out with you and BF. I'm jealous that you are grilling out tonight. I've got a craving for grilled salmon.

Good Luck with WI Lisa. You are so committed and plan so well that I'm sure you'll see results.

Tonya - I personally am a fan of the "bed in a bag". I've purchased them from Sears and from Domestications (www.domestications.com) for about $100 and been pleased with the quality. I also adore Bed, Bath and Beyond - they've got a website although I can't remember it right now.

Hi Kier! Hello to everyone else. I took a vacation day yesterday to entertain my parents who were visiting so I've got to spend today playing catch-up. I'll try to check back later.

Thanks so much for all of the encouragement on the at work program. I really cannot wait :) I am ashamed to say that after appx a week and a half of pigging out:ink: I gained 3 pds :( I've only lost 6 so far on the challenge so that is a bit of a bummer however I cannot wait to go on thursday and begin WWer's I have neve gone consistantly and am determined to do it this time. DF gave the go ahead as far as spending the extra money. We are attempting to pinch pennies in order to buy a house in January or February. So I am definitely doing it. I wish he would do it with me but he insists that once he decides to lose weight he will. The sad thing is he will. He cut back on pop for like four days last month and lost 5 pds :^: So depressing. It took me a month to lost that. Oh well!

I don't have a lot of time to post b/c I have got to work today. Yesterday I had 2 clients and spent the rest of the day planning my wedding :o I feel really guilty so today I must work. Speaking of my wedding one of my friends from NY called me last night to tell me she couldn't be in it. I am kind of upset but I am going to ask DF's sister. I love her and I think she would like to be in it. What do you girls think esp. those with children. His sister is in her 30's and her daughter is the flower girl. Do married with children woman want to be bridesmaids????? Fill me in.

Tonya- Bed Bath and Beyond. Nautica has great comforters. I also love Calvin Klein but that is tres expensive. So I suggest BB&B :)

Lisa- Good luck at WI and I cannot wait to see the pics.

Kieri- Way to go on the cardio. I have been so bad with exercise too:?:

Lexxy- What a fun night!! I love date nights and I am sooooo glad that all is well with B/f. I had the same kind of thing happen last night. DF calls me a few times a day usuallly. Well yesterday we talked in the am and then I didn't hear from him. I called his house and he wasn't home. Finally at 7:30pm I called his mom and then his friend :o I was breezy when I spoke with them b/c I didn't want to embarrass df and be checking up on him But I am so embarrased b/c it turned out that he was doing landscaping all day and he no longer has a cell (which I know) Anyways I though he was dead or skipped town or something. How psycho am I?????? Scary!!! Regardless though I did give him a mini sob story about how He could have been dead etc etc. He will let me know when he's working late now I think:dizzy:

Jess- Yikes 6am! I hope the coffe helps :)

Well gotta go BBL!

Well, I successfully avoided the pizza craving last night, but still ended up at 28 points for the day-over by three:( Cause I didn't have time to exersize. But I will make up for that today.
I have been working on my wedding thank you's. What is an acceptable time frame to do those in? Does anyone know?

Grace-Good luck starting WW-I rejoined last week and have found new motivation-I am at least journalling everything, even if I go over...

Aaronsmom-I love skinny cows!!! i am an ice cream addict!

Tilley- i agree with Kier-not that much of an age difference, but there may be a large difference in maturity-23-26 is where most guys do a lot of their growing
:p Can't wait to see the pictures!

Lexxy-that restaurant sounds great...I wonder if there are any in the Boston area? Maybe as a reward for reaching goal weight...DH and I have a gift cert for The Cheesecake Factory that I have been putting off using-wanted to use it as a reward for something...

Anyhow-I have half a day today-so I am going home to wait for our new sectional-whoo hoo-matching furniture:D

And then I am going food shopping and making a low point soup for the week, and am planning to exersize...we'll see how it goes!
hi to all!!

Busy morning on the board wow.

I'm back on track, I hope, I can't stand in when I'm carrying this much water and I don't have a clue what my real weight is. Oh well, all I can do is stay OP - I did an aerobics class last night and I'm jumping my horse tonight and I rode 1 hour saturday and 2.5 on Sunday so at least I'm getting my exercise in. Of course I had a caesar salad for dinner last night - but I really enjoyed it. BF and I went grocery shopping last night because I didn't have enough WW type food in the house. Now I can really stay on program.

Jess - You've probably left work by now but I hope you had a good day and you get to enjoy your afternoon off.

Lexxy - my sister took me to one of those restaurants (pre-WW) when I visited her in Virginia. I loved it! Of course, we did the oil thing and were stuffed when we left. They suggested broth as a lighter option and one day when I go back, I'll have to try it. It sounds like a great evening.

Lisa - I hope your WI goes well! I can't wait for a post water water weight WI.

Tonya - I agree, check out BB&B they have nice stuff.

Kier - mmmm Ice cream cake.

aaronsmom - I hate it when I forget real names - thanks for the game suggestions, I'll use a couple of them for sure.

Winter - YAY motivation!! I like yard boys;) Seriously - some places will deliver a tree to you (maybe that's only in Canada)

Becky - Ask her - if she doesn't want to be in the wedding she'll tell you. I don't think it's against ettiquite.

Lorie - 3 points is nothing - you're doing great.

OK - hi to everyone else out there - if anyone has any good shower games - please post them on my other thread - I have 2 different showers to plan games for.

Thanks
KT

I need some cheering up.

One of my bridemaids came up Sunday and she and my sister tried on dresses Sun. and Monday. First of all, the bridal shops around here have mostly crap or it's too expensive. We finally found one dress I like, although I've seen much better stuff on the Internet.

But the real depressing part. Even though my sister is going to make my dress, I tried on a few wedding dresses to see what they looked like. Nothing fit, not even size 20. I was so down and I feel like that even now. I know with my sister making my dress, I shouldn't be as down, but I can't help it. My mom has told me if we find a dress, I can buy it, but all the places are telling me I'd need to order NOW and I'm just not ready to do that. Plus, the dresses I saw in the shops were heavy and gaudy.

For three weeks I've stayed OP, except for Saturday when I had some wine and cheese. I've been exercising every other day. And the 3 lbs I lost? They seem to be back.

What do I do? I SO want a steak and cheese sub.

Thanks everyone for the concern about the BF - but Jess, don't stress yourself out for me! Trust me, I do enough of that for probably this whole thread - I'm just a huge stressball most of the time. He did feed me a couple things, but luckily things falling in my lap wasn't an issue....we've only been dating for about a month though, so I'm sure that will happen over time :)

Kier, ice cream cake is my favorite - I've had it for almost every one of my birthday cakes. Having a summer birthday helps, but I would eat it anytime of the year!

Lisa, hope the weigh-in went well (I've been avoiding weighing myself - although the doctor's scale yesterday said 154, and that was with clothes and in the middle of the afternoon, so there's hope). I'm glad about the boy! Not that he hasn't called you, but that you had a fun little night. Nights like that will boost up your confidence and then boys will be flocking towards you. I have a roommate (the one I don't like very much!) who is like 6 feet tall, has to be pushing 200lbs, eats whatever she wants, doesn't exercise, etc. She's not obese because of her height, but she definitely pushes the limit on stuffing herself into size 14 tube top dresses, etc. My other roommate and friends were flabbergasted at how many guys she would meet out at bars because we are so ingrained with the thought that guys like girls that are think and small - at least smaller than they are. The thing is, she is extremely self-confident and guys totally respond to that. She will just go up to people and start conversations, and if they don't bite, she'll move right along. Guys totally respond to the fact that she looks like she's having the best time all the time. Totally not the way I act at bars, but I have definitely loosened up and started to not care what guys think so much.

Ahh, this is a novel. I'm going to post this now and come right back - I would hate to have it lost out there in cyberspace :dizzy:

Don't feel bad, my sister was normally a size 10 and her dress was a size 18 - wedding dresses are sized weird. Don't let that sabotage your efforts. No doubt your body will catch up soon!! Keep at it. At least then, no matter what you weigh at your wedding, you can say you tried and gave it your all.

I am sending you positive vibes :D (whirrrrrrr - feel them coming?)

Off to a gala lunch thing for the children's hospital...

Kim, step away from the steak and cheese!! Bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses are the most ridiculously sized things in the world!! The way I see it, people shouldn't even try to compare them to regular American sizing because they are just nowhere near on the same scale. Think of that size 20 as being a UK size 41 or something - totally meaningless! Don't let those bridal people pressure you into buying a gown you don't want. Remember, this is going to be the happiest day for you, regardless of the number inside the dress. Have you looked at David's Bridal at all for bridesmaid stuff? I don't know if there are any down in roanoke, but they are here in NoVa - the wedding I was at last weekend had the bridesmaids in these gorgeous 2 piece gowns from there which were relatively inexpensive - maybe around $150 or so.

Tonya, I was thinking the same thing for dinner tonight. We'll see if it really happens. Even if we end up going out, all I'm going to get is a salad anyway. I don't really have many suggestions on comforters, but it's suprising that one lasted you only a year. I've seen some nice ones at Target on occasion.

Jayne, I love skinny cows too! They are a bit expensive for me, but they were on sale this week and I had 2 coupons, so I bought 3 packages :T

Winter, way to go on the workouts - sorry to hear about all your house problems. I know what a pain those can be!

Becky, I'm glad I'm not the only one who freaks out over stuff like that. It's only because we care....;)

Lori, not sure if there's one in Boston, but it is a chain - The Melting Pot, so there very well might be. I LOVE Cheesecake Factory too - I'm from MA and I've been to the one in the Atrium (as well as in a few other cities) - are there any more now up in the city?

KT - can't help you on the shower games, I'm bad at those. Good job with all the exercise though! Maybe try the knot.com (I think that's a wedding site!) it might have games.

Hi Belle, we're posting at the same time!

Ok, think this is long enough - hi angie and ali and kirsty and JenK and JenL and everyone else wherever you are!

Hello all - I'm down 1.5, which is okay. I was up 1.5 last week, so I was hoping it was mostly water and I'd get a little extra off also.. but no luck there. I guess the pizza and cake did it. Shrug - it's a new week.

Kim - you have done SO WELL. DOn't get too down. First... those bridal dresses run weird sizes. They never fit anyone... that's why everyone has to get "fitted." Don't be down.

We're going to get you as close to your wedding day goal as possible - so don't go for that steak and cheese sub just yet. Save those points for tasting different wedding cakes! :)

You are going to be a beautiful bride and have a beautiful gown that will mean so much more than any dress you could ever buy... your sister is making it. that is so special.

I hate and I mean HATE trying on dresses. I hated it for prom - which I was just thankful I had a date for. Also, I'm from the south, and I had to do it for my debutant ball. Both times I got dresses made. The torsos of dresses are so weird... if they are long or short it could throw you off like 4 sizes. You could be a size 14 in the waste, but have curves and much envied buxom breasts and have to buy a size 20 dress.

If you do need something tastey... get some skinny cow ice cream treats or a McDonalds soft serve ice cream cone and enjoy. Think of how happy you'll be on your wedding day!!! I bet you won't even be thinking about the size of your dress. Obviously he loves you no matter what - and that is amazing and awesome and I can only dream of having that one day.

CHeer up - you've done amazing things and you've come so far. Do something nice for yourself..... get your nails done. You deserve it girl!

Lexxy - sounds like we're living with the same person! My roommate is 5'11", 190 (but looks great because she's so tall.) What a coincidence! We've been wearing the same size for a few months... but she got a little upset (I could tell) because I'm wearing a couple sizes smaller than her now. HELLO - she's a foot taller than me. I should be wearing 8 sizes smaller. I'm not sure she gets that.

KT - I need your will power today - I had a slice of pizza for lunch. It was only one slice and usually that would be fine to work into my day. But facing the truth... it was the largest slice of pizza and prob AT LEAST 12 points... if not 16. AGH!

Grace - 6 pounds during the challenge rocks!

HI LORI! I have to tell you about a place in Watertown called the Low Fat No Fat cafe. They have wraps for 7 points and french fries (air fried?) for 3 points. Mmmmm.

Hey everyone- So, now on DAY TWO of eating OP and everything. Walking lots and did weights last night, so things are going well. I think I may have finally found that kick I needed to really get going and stick with it. You know how that goes sometimes? You go on forever saying "oh, I need to lose weight, I'll start eating well tomorrow.", etc? I feel like I have been in that for months. Well, tomorrow is NOW!

Kim- Don't get stressed about the dress! They really are cut super strange. No personal experience, but I have heard all sorts of stories about the incredibly thin girls who have huge wedding dresses. Somebody explained to me once that the companies, boutiques, etc. make more money that way, but I ca't remember exactly how they had figured this. Anyway, don't feel bad. If you are OP and exercising, you will definitely look great for the wedding.

Lexxy- Glad to hear the BF is all sorted out. Fondue sounds yummy. We have a melting pot here, but I have never been. May have to try it sometime...

Jayne- I've never seen skinny cows. What does the package look like (I am a TOTAL ice cream addict, it's horrible!)

Big hello to everyone else- it sounds like we are all really getting into a weight loss groove of sorts!

OK this is going to be quick - hi to everyone else who's posted.

Kim - Listen to everything everyone is saying. Wedding dresses are weird. If your sister is making you one, it will fit like a glove and there won't be a size on it anyway. A friend of mine ordered hers 2 sizes smaller and then gained weight - that's way too much stress! If you order one, order it the size you are and then have it altered 3 weeks before the wedding and again, perfect. I also bought a bridesmaid dress 2 sizes too small and ended up buying a second dress so my SIL could use the extra material to alter the first dress so it would fit me and I wouldn't look like a big green sausage.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents - you know you'll look beautiful on your wedding day.
KT

lexxy2
06-11-2002, 03:36 PM
Cat and KT - they make their money off all the alterations that need to be done when you actually get the dress and it is a tent! The alterations can cost a fortune, almost as much as some of the dresses!

Lisa, I'm from a little town called Holliston - it's near Natick/Framingham. My best friend from college lived in Allston for a few years, and now she's in Brighton, so I know that area! Air fries sound yummy, but I really don't ever get to Watertown. My other roommate, the one I'm friends with who is also dieting, kind of has issues with me being a smaller size then her. She had a lot more weight than me to lose and has lost a ton already - but she's shorter, so I guess I can understand her not liking it. I sure as heck didn't like it when my big roommate started losing weight when we were dieting and exercising - and she was doing nothing but eating frozen pizzas all day!

Thank you all for your support! I guess it's just one of those days. I was jealous yesterday when my sister and friend were trying on bridesmaids dresses in size 10, but then again, I did this to myself. All I want to do is get an idea of what some dresses might look like. But when I can't even get them over my hips, well ... I put on a size 24 just so I could actually zip something up. It actually felt good that it was BIG, but then again, it was a size 24. It had a pretty neckline, anyway.

Things could be worse. My boyfriend learned yesterday that his step-brother, who was supposed to get married June 22, called off the wedding because he found out his girlfriend of 4 years was cheating on him.

I haven't responded to anyone else today, and I'm sorry for that. I admit to feeling a little self-absorbed today. I am feeling a little better after talking to my mom. Get I get an opinion? What would you all think of wine-colored bridesmaids dresses with autumn flower colors of burnt orange, red and yellow (think gerber daises?

TonyaLyn
06-11-2002, 05:31 PM
Hi Kim!

Chin up girl!! When I got married 6 years ago, I was a 7/8 and my wedding dress was a 14/16, go figure!

I think wine colored bridesmaid dresses would be lovely. Love the color of flowers you are thinking of too, very fall-like.

Some of the fall weddings I have been to that had beautiful bridesmaid dresses were the following colors: emerald green, black, red, dark plum. Just some ideas.

I was married on Oct. 5th, and my bridesmaid dresses were emerald green. I look back at the pics, and I still love them.

Also, just my .02 cents...but when trying on wedding dresses, try on all different styles, even if you don't care for them on the hanger. When I went in to try them on, I knew for sure that I wanted a strapless, full, wedding dress....what did I walk out with?.....a long sleeved, straight, evening dress style wedding gown. It was o.k. on the hanger, but when I put it on, I new it was the one!

Well, better get back to work, speaking of weddings, I have to take my bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding to the seamstrss, it is too big, need about 5 inches taken in...should have bought a 9/10 not a 11/12.....shouldn't have listened to the bridal place.....

Later gators....
