:chin: hmmm for the first time, no "Worldlies" in the title. Think others will find us?

I was thinking Mayday too

Busy day for me. I'm moving cubicles again at work. 8 moves in 4 years. Ugh. Still a lot of balls up in the air at the moment.

Mom will take care of anyone who comes across her path  cuz she's just that kind of lady. :D I changed the calendar this morning and see that she is only here for another week and a half :(

Sorry to run but I have to. to the chicks. Happy month of May.

Just wanted the ones on the exercise challenge to know that I've completed 110 minutes this week. This is the most I've done in a while.

Mel
You go girl. Isn't it nice to know that someone actually knows what is going on.

Michelle
Take it easy for awhile.

Annie
Good job in losing those inches. I may try some of those cinnamon remedies. However, cinnamon usually makes me have acid indigestion. I like doing things naturally. I take Omega 3 for cholesterol and a baby aspirin for my heart.

Happy
I'm hoping that the April showers go away soon. We have really been lucky that we have not had any type of winds or tornado's with these. Has dh had any luck on employment? I don't blame you for spending time with your mom.

It's past my computer time limit.

Hello Ladies,

Here it is the first day of May and i'm so frustrated. I have not been working out and not eating right. I'm thinking of going back to Jenny Craig. I need some control. I need to go back and read the old posts, something was mentioned about cinnamon/honey.. I'll have to read up on that.

Ceejay - WTG on your workout minutes. Keep it up...

Shad - thanks for the new site. Your always a step ahead of us.

Annie - What's the difference between B12 and B6? Someone told me to get B6 for energy...

Happy - I can relate, we have 3 moves in 2 years. Talk about cleaning out your office. I have 3 boxes in my garage, i finally brought my personal stuff home..

Mel - Magic Pill??? magic pill???? i'll take one. I'm with you all things are possible.

Mitchellez - Hi, hope your doing ok

:cofdate: GOOD SATURDAY MORNING CHICKS OF THE WORLD. IT IS RAINY, HUMID, FOGGY AND GENERALLY CRAPPY OUTSIDE. NO RIDES FOR ME TODAY AND NO LUNCH OUTDOORS. WE HAD A WONDEFUL THUNDERSTORM LAST NIGHT AND I WENT RIGHT TO SLEEP. I AM OFF TO EXERCISE AND GET THE DAY GOING. I HAVE OVER 100 MINUTES THIS WEEK BUT I MADE IT BY THE SKIN OF MY TEETH....HAD TO SQUEEZE IT IN YESTERDAY!
FOR ONCE, I HAVE A WEEKEND WHERE I REALLY DO HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON MY AGENDA. :cb:
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND :moped:

JEANETTE~ GREAT EXERCISE THIS WEEK. GOOD GOING :cheer2: CINNAMON BOTHERS ME AS WELL. GIVES ME HEARTBURN

PATTY~ GET A GRIP ON YOURSELF THIS MONTH WOMAN!! WE ALL WANT TO HEAR GOOD THINGS FROM YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS :cheer3: GOOD LUCK WITH JENNY IF YOU DO GO BACK. HOW WAS THEIR FOOD? IS IT VERY COSTLY STILL? INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS!

Hi darlings! It seems I managed to miss even checking in during April - it was a crappy month for me anyhow - healthwise, foodwise and anything-wise! I'm glad it's gone!

Somewhere I have pictures of a Maypole dance out in the meadow from a few years back. It was a bitter cold day with sprinkles of snow but we did it. It helped to have copious quantities of wine. The kids were better at weaving the ribbons around the pole than we so-called adults. I've no idea why.

As Harry used to say "Hooray! Hooray! The first of May! The outdoor ----ing starts today." You fill in the blanks. Drinking? Gardening? Singing? Sometimes I really miss the Old Harry.

My motto in life these days is Food, Fun and Flowers so I should be in here more often for the second one. I feel a fun deficit lately.

Morning all
I'm backhome in sunny Brissie, but can't stay on here long as there is a stack of things to do in the garden and house. Not trying to get them all done, just the worst of the weeds, prune the roses, mow the lawns and sweep the floors, sort out the washing and put it away and hang some out and all that jazz. Pay some bills, and get on the road again. Still only three weeks of this contract to go and nothing else that is looking my way is due to start until June so I should have a week or so at home.

Glad to hear most of the worldlies are doing well and getting with the exercise. I'm proud of you. I will be back into it when I get back. I really do need it.

Okay - up, up and away. It'll be time to go back to Melbourne shortly and I will have nothing done.

Morniing ladies,
I have two goals this week. They are routine and exercise.

Mel
You brought back memories of high school. We did the May Pole thing each year. I don't think it's done any more at that school. It was pretty. We wore formal long pastel dresses and had streamers to match our dress.

Shad
All that work makes me tired but I realize it needs to be done.

Patty
Did you like the food with Jenny Craig? Just start again, I've had to many times. I've got to have some structure myself. B12 is suppose to give you more energy.

Howdy to all the rest. PainterWoman where are you?

Happy May ladies -

May is my month for getting better. Although I'm sore now with the hip, back, hip flexor and all kinds of other muscles in my left leg...I am determined to be better by Memorial Day. I am completely listening to my PT and doc and not doing anything that I'm not supposed to.

I wish I had time for personals...but I've got a ton of website work to get done today and then we're hopefully going fishing if DH feels better....he's readying the boat now, just in case.

BTW, my DMIL may be coming out in mid-June to live with us. Things are not going well with DH's sister (where DMIL is currently living). We have been begging her to move out here for years, despite the cold and snow...she would be happier here and have much less stress. Plus, she can still go back and visit the grandkids back in CA...just as she comes out here now to visit her granddoggies....DH and I know she's not coming to see us...just her granddoggies!

I hope everyone is enjoying a great Sunday!

Love and hugs,

Hello Ladies,

Ruth - Drop by when you can. We all have different schedules and we understand.

Ceejay - I remember the food was good way back when. I think they have improved it.

Mitchelle - Enjoy your day. Hope you all get lots of fish. Yes the Month of May IS going to be a better month. Good to hear your MIL will be coming soon. I'm sure it's hard for her to make that permanent move, just remind her the door is always open for her.

Mel - i don't think i ever did the maypole thing. Is that custom to just certain areas ? or do i just not remember it?

As for me, May is going to be a better month. I'm taking back control. I looked into the Medifast program or going to Jenny Craig. Medifast is a 5 +1 program. You drink shakes or eat bars and then have 1 meal, where as Jenny has the meals. For me, I've decided to go with jenny. I think this is the best way to get my food portions back in control. I called this morning and have an appointment today. Why wait?

Hey lovely Worldlies!! Long time no hear, I know. Just thought I'd give a quick drop in to say hi. I've missed you all and missed catching up. Maybe, if all the stars align, I can manage to check in once in a while.

Hope May brings all those flowers that those April showers promised. Take care all!

Hello Ladies,

We'll i went to Jenny Craig, signed up and they won't start the program until they get a dr's ok. When i put down i had hives, reflux etc. it through up a flag. I told the girl, all the issues i did have, and told her my 3 doctors, Internal, Gastro & Arthiritis doc's all said the best thing for me is to get back to exercising and to lose weight. So my start day is delayed. I"m pumped though. I have my Wins poster on the wall where i'm going to write daily what good things i did and my affirmation poster.

Mad - good to hear from you...

Hope everyone is doing ok...

Afternoon all,
I'm in the depths of depression down here. Not only have I moved from blue skies and temps in the mid twenties (75-85F) to grey skies, temps that only get into the teens and a dipstick from WA who just can't get much right at all. It's the whole attitude over there. I feel really depressed because someone is going to get a rollicking over what I have uncovered in the last couple of days (excluding the weekend) and may even lose their job.

Madcat - nice to see you again on here. We seem to be missing most of our Canadian contingent these days. Most people are flat out busy so it's hard to keep in contact.

Patty - Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be 100% honest, but you sound like you are doing the best you can with what you have. Do you give yourself a star as well as writing down the good things you do.

Ceejay - good goals. Keep it up

Michelle - I know you will love having your MIL there permanently. I'm sure you can come to a convenient arrangement.

Okay - better go back to my going pile of where the **** is it print outs. It just keeps getting worse.

Happy Monday...where did the weekend go?? It was a fun one tho.

Friday evening, I went for a pedicure with a friend then we went to Cancun (restaurant) for a Pink Cadillac Margaurita. It had cranberry juice, pineapple juice, tequilia etc in it, quite yummy and very potent. Had to sit there for a couple of hours to be able to drive home.

Saturday, Tony took me to Bucca Di Pepa for dinner. (Italian), oh so yummy. Had Penne San Remo, bruschetta, and iced tea. Then we went to the Rathskeller (german resaturant/bar/beer garden) to meet up with friends to celebrate a buddies 40th BD. I tasted, and actually like this dark wheat beer that was kind of on the sweet side, (Tony thought it tasted like steak sauce---it did NOT), got a little enibreated-(sp)-drunk, couldn't quit laughing. Tony kept laughing at me laughing which made me laugh more. He did not drink as he was the DD. Yesterday, I met up with a good friend that I hadn't seen in 20 years. Since Samantha was 2 years old. We worked together at Farm Bureau in 1979-81. Went on vacation together a couple times, she even came up from Arkansas with her 2 yr old when I broke my leg two days before Jake was born to take care of me when I got out of the hospital. She stayed 2 1/2 weeks. Then we didn't see each other since til yesterday. She looks the same. We sat at Panera Bread from 1:00- 5:30 pm drinking tea/coffee and talking. It was truly fun. Went home made beef stroganoff for the crockpot today for dinner tonight with Tony. Shuwee...had to come back to work to rest.

Shad...when you get a week or two off before June start you can catch up on garden/yard and house stuff. That will be awesome to have time to do that. SOrry to hear about someone getting fired. Sending you some happy vibes.

Michelle...how cool DMIL may come and live with you soon. It is great you have such a wonderful relationship with her. Hope your healing goes fast....Lord please life Michelle up for quick healing.

Patty...Goodluck with Jenny Craig. I have seen it work for others. Motivation vibes being sent your way, sista.

MEL....great job on the exercise. It was supposed to rain here all weekend and it did NOT. Yeah, we had sunny and 65, a bit cool but no rain. I loved it.

Ruthie...I supplied the word sh*tting in that poem. Wasn't sure what word you were after till I read further down. hehehe

Madcat...well howdie to you girl. drop in more often..

Ceejay....I know what you mean about indigestion. I have it and gas on a daily baiss. I take an antiacid every day to avoid the pain of it all. Great job on the exercise challenge.

Better get busy and do some work..

Hi to all

Love and Hugs

Happy Monday ladies -

We had a gorgeous weekend - sunny and relatively warm (mid to upper 60s), and today is going to be just as nice. After work, I'm going to start some veggies in peat pots and place them in a sunny window. Despite a mostly relaxing weekend with minimal walking and bending and no exercise, I'm having more pain. We didn't get out fishing....I was too sore, and DH's knee and back were hurting too. My next PT appointment is tomorrow. And I'm looking into acupuncture. Insurance doesn't cover it, but flexible spending does.

My goals for this week are:
NO EXERCISING (except gentle Physical Therapist-approved stretching)
Eat 4 servings of fruits/veg per day
Drink 80 oz of water
Journal what I eat at least 4 days this week (and stay within WW points)

Mel - I really like that all things are possible this month! I will get to feeling better and be able to do stuff by Memorial Day come h*ll or high water! You've got great goals, Mel! YGG!

Ceejay - Congrats on all that exercise this past week!

Annie - I take B12 for energy and to help with my iron count (which tends to be low). What a nice treat for yourself on Friday - pedicure and Cancun (restaurant)! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with Tony and with friends! Good for you and your 7000 steps a day challenge!

Ruth - I got a great kick out of Harry's saying about the outdoor ____ing! Drinking, eating, gardening, singing, dancing, whatever!

Shad - Glad you had a nice weekend at home and that you'll have a little time at home between assignments. Sorry that your work is so stressful and depressing, and that someone may lose their job. Hang in there.

Patty - Good for you for starting back up with Jenny! You sound so excited and so motivated - you're sure to be successful at weight loss!

Madcat - Great to hear from you!!

Well, I'd better get back to it!

Love and big hugs to all,

annie175

Hi Patty....

B6 is necessary for release of enzymatic reacting governing the release of glucose from glycogan. It is also involved in macronutrient, neurotransmitter, histamine, hemogloban synthesis.

B12 helsps with anemia, weakness (energy), loss of balance, tingling of legs and arms.

B1 helps with weightloss and irregular heartbeat and disorders of the nervous system, brain, formation of blood, metabolism of all cells in the body and helps with energy production.

Hi guys,

Just a quick note to let you know that I won't be around for a while. There is lots going on at home right now - a big mess in the homeowners association right now that is chewing up a good part of my evenings (NOT making me happy). I got on here now at lunch. My ad free subscription expired and the sisters are working on getting it working again. I moved cubicles last week and am now in a spot where my computer monitor is pretty visible to alot of people nearby and walking by. I opened the page for our thread and there on the side is the fat belly ad (the one with the girls lifting their shirts and showing their bellies - kinda grosses me out). I refreshed the page and another ad popped up with a girl in a hot pink bikini. Someone was walking by at the moment and it was kind of embarassing. So I don't think I'll be popping on at lunch here in the near future. And with the evenings being busy for a while, I might have to take a pass on my turn at the Maypole.

Hang in there - much success this month to y'all and I'll be back when I can.

Hello Ladies,

We'll looks like i'm going to have to start on Wed. But that's ok. I'm ready..

Happy - We understand. We'll be here when you get back.

Annie - Girl, you have a busy weekend. That's so cool meeting up with an old friend.

Mitchellez - Good news and on the NO pain. Keep following pt's orders. Accupenture. I tried that a few weeks ago. I think it can bring relief. Find a good one though.

Mel - sometimes it pays to be practical. We're having a gloomy week too. Sunshine is on the forecast by thursday.

Morning all,
Just another day down here in 'Paradise lost'. I think my stress levels have gone through the roof. I could do with a therapeutic hour or so in the garden.

Happy - take time to be with your mother. We will still be here when you get back no doubt.

Michelle - glad to hear you are stretching and resting and doing all the right things.

Patty - so Wednesday it is. Hope you get what you want out of it. I've heard some good things about Jenny Craig.

Annie - nice to meet up with the old friends again. Such a good feeling.

Mel - what a cheer germ you are. Everytime I look at that avatar, I have to smile. There isn't much to smile about around here I can tell you. I feel like going and belting a few heads together. Still I can fix the world in an instant. Only one step at a time. Yesterday was a big hurdle. I really don't think that that person belongs in the job anyway. Word from one of the other windfarms was that she can't walk too far down the yard in her high heels so just guesses at what is and what isn't. Dipstick.

Woke up with a steaming headache this morning and have only just managed to get rid of it. Must have been that yoga dvd I did last night. That moved things that haven't been moved much this year I can tell you. It's long too - just on 50 minutes of slow stretching, bending and contortioning the body. Should do it more often.

Ah well I have had my five minutes of pleasure. Now back into it again.

MEL....7000 steps is a lot for me, since I am in a sit down job. I find ALL kinds of reasons to get up and walk around. I did make the 7000 steps yesterday, shouldn't be a prob today as I am going to Curves tonight. Have fun out shopping...

Michelle...You have some great goals for not being able to exercise. I am so proud of you and you are still my exercise QUEEN!! Of course MEL is keeping up with our challenge so she is my exercise PRINCESS now!!

Patty...Wednesday is a good day to start Jenny Craig. Much better than a Friday or Saturday. Stay motivated, you can do this, I know you can, Rah, rah rah for Patty. <----Cheering for you. I cannot post little smiles and such from work, it blocks it out. OR I WOULD!!

Shad....next time you are in the garden, take your frustrations of work out on the dirt, give it a good pounding. At least your headache was from exercise and not from alcohol. Hugs to you sista!

Ceejay...We are having an abundant amount of sunshine today..so I am sending you some your way. ALTHO it is supposed to rain Wed, THur, Fri, and be GREAT on Sat and Sun. YEAH!!

We are having a Cinco di Mayo Mexican pitch in today. Oh piggie city today. Can you say moo moo buckaroo. hehe

Have my other final tonight, heaven help me. I did my duathlon Sunday, and did better than I expected, considering all of my injuries. My cruise got rerouted, due to the swine flu, which involved changing flights and leaving two days early :dizzy: I leave Saturday, and will be MIA for a week. I also put in an offer on yet another house last night. 2 BR Cape Codish house, with charm and potential. I tried to put in a more aggressive offer, so we shall see.

Sorry I have been gone. I just don't know where the time goes. take care all, and will try to stop in daily until I leave

Good morning ladies -

I'm feeling optimistic today. I talked with DH and he suggested I talk to the doc and the PT before I go to acupuncture. So I've got a PT appointment today at lunch time and an appointment with the sports med doc next week. In the meantime, I'm doing all my stretches and staying positive. Speaking of optimism, there's a Michael J. Fox special on Thursday evening on ABC called "Adventures of an Incurable Optimist" that looks really good (to me anyway).

Patty - So glad to hear you're going to start Jenny tomorrow! Good for you!! YGG!!

Shad - Sorry to hear work is so stressful. Are there any public parks or gardens or nature areas you can walk around in after work? Perhaps that would alleviate your stress until you can get home and get your hands dirty in your own garden. I think that headache may be more stress related than yoga related...of course, if you did a lot of upside down poses or contorted your neck this way and that, it could've contributed to the headache. Sounds like the hurdle you overcame yesterday, while difficult, was ultimately a good thing. I am definitely listening to the PT and doing all the right things...and trying not to get frustrated that the improvement isn't coming as fast as I'd like.

Ceejay - I hope you get a break in the rain, as well as some free time, to get out and enjoy some sunshine!

Mel - I will be feeling much better by Memorial Day. I keep telling myself that and I firmly believe it. And I will be able to enjoy all summer doing the things I love: fishing, gardening, walking, going to festivals and fairs, etc. Have fun on your food shopping trip!

Annie - Enjoy your Cinco de Mayo pitch in! Not sure I should be the exercise queen this week...maybe the NON-exercise queen! LOL You and Mel can be the exercise queens!

Jolly - I'll bet you didn't do as bad as you thought on the take home exam. Good luck on tonight's final! Congrats on the duathlon!! YGG!! Maybe you are the exercise queen!! Good luck with the house offer. And if we don't see you much before then, have a wonderful time on the cruise!

Well, I've got lots to do...so I'd better get crackin'.

Love and hugs,

diyana

Just got done with PT. One more week of no exercising, but she did give more advanced stretches to do. And another positive to all of this....I'm learning SO much medical terminology (especially muscle names) as I'm learning what's tight and how to stretch it/work it out. :)

Garbanzo Bean Info-interesting

A Fiber All Star

Check a chart of the fiber content in foods and you'll see legumes leading the pack. Garbanzos, like other beans, are rich in both soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. Soluble fiber forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract that snares bile (which contains cholesterol)and ferries it out of the body. Research studies have shown that insoluble fiber not only helps to increase stool bulk and prevent constipation, but also helps prevent digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulosis.

Lower Your Heart Attack Risk

In a study that examined food intake patterns and risk of death from coronary heart disease, researchers followed more than 16,000 middle-aged men in the U.S., Finland, The Netherlands, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Greece and Japan for 25 years. Typical food patterns were: higher consumption of dairy products in Northern Europe; higher consumption of meat in the U.S.; higher consumption of vegetables, legumes, fish, and wine in Southern Europe; and higher consumption of cereals, soy products, and fish in Japan. When researchers analyzed this data in relation to the risk of death from heart disease, they found that legumes were associated with a whopping 82% reduction in risk!

A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine confirms that eating high fiber foods, such as garbanzo beans, helps prevent heart disease. Almost 10,000 American adults participated in this study and were followed for 19 years. People eating the most fiber, 21 grams per day, had 12% less coronary heart disease (CHD) and 11% less cardiovascular disease (CVD) compared to those eating the least, 5 grams daily. Those eating the most water-soluble dietary fiber fared even better with a 15% reduction in risk of CHD and a 10% risk reduction in CVD.
Garbanzo Beans Lower Cholesterol

Other research published in the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism has shown that including garbanzo beans, specifically, in the diet significantly lowers both total and LDL "bad" cholesterol (Pittaway JK, Ahuga KD, et al.).

In this study, 47 adults participated in two eating plans of at least 5 weeks duration. Each food plan provided sufficient calories to maintain participants' weight, but one plan was supplemented with garbanzo beans and the other with wheat.

The garbanzo-supplemented diet, which provided slightly less protein and fat, and more carbohydrate than the wheat-supplemented diet, resulted in a significant 3.9% drop in total cholesterol, which was largely due to a 4.6% drop in LDL "bad" cholesterol. Practical Tip: Enjoyed regularly, garbanzo beans can help lower LDL "bad" cholesterol. Add garbanzos to tossed salads, enjoy them as a dip or spread in the form of hummus or baba ganoush, or let them take center stage as the main ingredient in a spicy curry.

Garbanzos' contribution to heart health lies not just in their fiber, but in the significant amounts of folate and magnesium these beans supply. Folate helps lower levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that is an intermediate product in an important metabolic process called the methylation cycle. Elevated blood levels of homocysteine are an independent risk factor for heart attack, stroke, or peripheral vascular disease, and are found in between 20-40% of patients with heart disease. It has been estimated that consumption of 100% of the daily value (DV) of folate would, by itself, reduce the number of heart attacks suffered by Americans each year by 10%. Just one cup of cooked garbanzo beans provides 70.5% of the DV for folate.

Garbanzos' supply of magnesium puts yet another plus in the column of its beneficial cardiovascular effects. Magnesium is Nature's own calcium channel blocker. When enough magnesium is around, veins and arteries breathe a sigh of relief and relax, which lessens resistance and improves the flow of blood, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. Studies show that a deficiency of magnesium is not only associated with heart attack but that immediately following a heart attack, lack of sufficient magnesium promotes free radical injury to the heart. Want to literally keep your heart happy? Eat garbanzos.

For even more cardio-protection, team garbanzo beans with garlic or turmeric:

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Level III-3 evidence shows that consuming a half to one clove of garlic daily may have a cholesterol-lowering effect of up to 9%. For a quick, tasty hummus, just combine pre-cooked garbanzos in the blender with lemon juice, olive oil, garlic and/or onion, salt and pepper to taste.

In other research, when 10 healthy volunteers consumed 500 mg of curcumin per day for 7 days, not only did their blood levels of oxidized cholesterol drop by 33%, but their total cholesterol droped 11.63% , and their HDL "good" cholesterol increased by 29%! (Soni KB, Kuttan R, Indian J Physiol Phartmacol.) Healthy sauté onions with turmeric for 2-3 minutes then add pre-cooked garbanzos and heat until warmed through.

For the most curcumin, be sure to use turmeric rather curry powder-a study analyzing curcumin content in 28 spice products described as turmeric or curry powders found that pure turmeric powder had the highest concentration of curcumin, averaging 3.14% by weight. The curry powder samples, with one exception, contained very small amounts of curcumin. (Tayyem RF, Heath DD, et al. Nutr Cancer) Practical Tip: Increase garbanzos' cardio-protective effects by spicing them with garlic, which also lowers cholesterol, and turmeric, which not only lowers LDL "bad" cholesterol, but also increases HDL "good" cholesterol. Be sure to use turmeric rather than curry powder; turmeric contains more of the protective compound, curcumin, than does curry powder.

Garbanzos Give You Energy to Burn While Stabilizing Blood Sugar

In addition to its beneficial effects on the digestive system and the heart, soluble fiber helps stabilize blood sugar levels. If you have insulin resistance, hypoglycemia or diabetes, beans like garbanzos can really help you balance blood sugar levels while providing steady, slow-burning energy. Studies of high fiber diets and blood sugar levels have shown the dramatic benefits provided by these high fiber foods. Researchers compared two groups of people with type 2 diabetes who were fed different amounts of high fiber foods. One group ate the standard American Diabetic diet, which contains 24 grams of fiber/day, while the other group ate a diet containing 50 grams of fiber/day. Those who ate the diet higher in fiber had lower levels of both plasma glucose (blood sugar) and insulin (the hormone that helps blood sugar get into cells). The high fiber group also reduced their total cholesterol by nearly 7%, their triglyceride levels by 10.2% and their VLDL (Very Low Density Lipoprotein--the most dangerous form of cholesterol)levels by 12.5%.

Iron for Energy

In addition to providing slow burning complex carbohydrates, garbanzos can increase your energy by helping to replenish your iron stores. Particularly for menstruating women, who are more at risk for iron deficiency, boosting iron stores with garbanzos is a good idea--especially because, unlike red meat, another source of iron, garbanzos are low in calories and virtually fat-free. Iron is an integral component of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen from the lungs to all body cells, and is also part of key enzyme systems for energy production and metabolism. And remember: If you're pregnant or lactating, your needs for iron increase. Growing children and adolescents also have increased needs for iron.

Manganese for Energy Production and Antioxidant Defense

Garbanzos are an excellent source of the trace mineral manganese, which is an essential cofactor in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant defenses. For example, the key oxidative enzyme superoxide dismutase, which disarms free radicals produced within the mitochondria (the energy production factories within our cells), requires manganese. Just one cup of garbanzo beans supplies 84.5% of the DV for this very important trace mineral.

Protein Power Plus

If you're wondering how to replace red meat in your menus, become a fan of garbanzo beans. These nutty flavored beans are a good source of protein, and when combined with a whole grain such as whole wheat pasta or brown rice, provide protein comparable to that of meat or dairy foods without the high calories or saturated fat found in these foods. And, when you get your protein from garbanzos, you also get the blood sugar stabilizing and heart health benefits of the soluble fiber provided by these versatile legumes.

Morning all,
Feeling better about things today - although I am a little worried about the stock take coming up next week. The count will be better, but there are still a lot of problems to face. It won't be a great result.
Meantime I will continue to work on the count. Get things as ready as I can for next week and see if I can persuade the Dipstick to get things off shelves and into vans for the immediate jobs on hand. It's very easy to see that none of this mob have a: been involved in stock taking before and b:been around warehouses and SAP before. I can't believe some of the things that happen in this joint. And there are too few staff to improve matters alot.
Aaaah well. I've only 2.5weeks to go and I'm out of here.

Michelle - glad to hear that you are moving along with the stretches, treatment and gentle exercise. Nice move. Thanks for the joke. I couldn't get the picture through the work system email, but I saw it here. Makes you wonder what might happen if she wore double GG or HH size cups. They would have to cut holes for the eyes!!!!

Annie - wow, all that stuff on beans. I'm not all that fussy about beans for one reason or another, however my vegetarian son is slowly introducing me to the various varieties.

Ceejay - thanks for the words of encouragement. Last night I went home and did a Jillian Michaels dvd. A bit different from the yoga. I will probably do the yoga or pilates one tonight. I'm determined to get back into exercise again and this looks like the best way for me at the moment. I have a ton of dvds at home devoted to exercise. I just never got around to using them because I was at the gym all the time.

Jolly - good to hear from you too. Hope this house works out for you. Whats with the market over there? We hear it is falling apart and people are losing their homes to the banks and yet you are having a problem buying one. Sometimes you just have to get a bit aggressive with the realtors and others. Enjoy the cruise and I hope the exam results come in positive for you.

Okay - so now I have another man from another site on the phone worrying about his stock levels. I'd better get onto that one as well. Geez - does anything go right here??

Whoops - forgot Mel!!!! :faint: :o Hiya, and hope you are taking life and those eyes with consideration for your well being! Catch up again when I get home.

Happy Hump Day Again, dang it comes around fast............

Gray, overcast today, with rain coming in this afternoon thru Friday, then a wonderful sunny weekend in store for Indiana. Wahoooooo!!

I got in, not quite, 10000 steps yesterday, that is tuff for me to do on a workday, however we did walk for 35 minutes at lunch yesterday then went to Curves last night.

MEL...Holy cow, the cinco celebration was too much. I was up 2 stinkin lbs this morning. Today is very light eating day for me. 8 oz lite yogurt for breaky, nothing for lunch cause actually I am not even hungry. Still full from yesterday. I am sure if I would poo and flo would get her butt here as she is now 10 days late, I would feel much better. Gald to hear it was only your CAPS and not your eyesight.

Shad...glad to hear yo are feeling better this morning. Maybe the next job won't be as stressfull and as full of idiots. How do you like the Jillian Michaels dvd? I just got the 30 day shred Jillian dvd, but have not opened it or tried it yet. I heard she kicks b*tt in this dvd.

Michelle...I am so glad you are listening to the docs and taking care of yourself. You will be all better and back to being the exercise queen in no time.

I think I will plant my garden this weekend. Tomatos, peppers (green, banana and jalepeno), cucumbers, arugala, zuchinni, I would love to plant a billion things but don't have the space or time or energy for much more than that. I pick up my petunia hanger and flat this Saturday. I ordered from Joy's House for their fund raiser. Joy's House is a like a daycare for senior citizens. A great place! Go on line and check it out. http://www.joyshouse.org. So my weekend will be cut grass, plant flowers, plant garden, visit momma for mother's day, and have dinner with Tony on Sunday night.

Hello to everyone I may have missed....

Much Love and Many Hugs..

Happy Hump Day ladies -

What a day! I over slept, but still managed to get here on time. I've got a real pain in the arse (literally!) despite doing my stretches. :ouch: And this report I'm working on is returning funky results and taking FOREVER to run in test. Arrrgh. :tantrum: But the day can only improve, right? We're having a huge department meeting all afternoon with a Hawaiian dress code and snacks, so that's fun. And for the next couple evenings, I'm going to do some website work so I can submit an invoice. A truck kicked up a rock into my car windshield which created quite a big crack, so I need to get that replaced.

Annie - Glad you had a great workout, tanning and margarita! Thanks for the info on Garbanzo beans! I love 'em. I always put garbanzos and kidney beans on my salads. Mmmmm. Sounds like you're going to have the rainy weather that we're getting. Good for you for getting 10000 steps in! You rock, sista! I heard the Jillian DVDs kick b*tt as well. I have one, but I'll have to wait for at least a few weeks before I try it. So nice that you can plant this weekend...I started mine indoors this week...but am too nervous to put them outside just yet. Sounds like you have a great weekend planned. :)

Shad - In terms of the stock count, you can't correct in a few weeks what took years for them to mess up. I'm glad you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Too funny about double GG or HH size cups! Good for you for doing the exercise DVDs. I have several but don't have room to do them. As for gentle exercise...that's a no go for now. Stretches only for another week. But I know this is only temporary and I'll be feeling better soon!

Mel - I hope Jen and Richie don't move to FL. Enjoy your breakfast and exercise and shopping tomorrow - hopefully it won't rain on your parade.

Well, I've got lots to do before my all afternoon department meeting!

A big  to everyone!

Love and hugs,

Shad

All of Jillians dvd's kick butt. And it doesn't help that all the participants on the dvds are young and fit and slim!!!!! But I do them anyway. So what if I can't get to 30 in the same time, I do what I can in time with the dvd and I am getting better at it. I have the Shape up Frontside and Shape up Backside dvds. They are around 30-35 minutes long and I sweat at the end of them. Believe me I sweat.
Last night I went back to the Yoga one and swore and cursed all the way through it. It'd be fine if it just hurried up, but everything is done long and slow and sometimes it HURTS. There is a Pilates one on the same disc. I'll be giving that a try again one day but if I remember right, it was a lot of rolling about the floor in foetal balls last time I did the thing and I didn't really enjoy it. Who knows, one may love it this time around.

Can't stop here, have problems coming thick and fast with stock-takes in NZ this week and the warehouse bosses are getting up the worker bees noses - collectively and singly. Who can blame them. One of the bosses got up my nose yesterday, but was fairly shortly ejected. He seems to think his group is infallible, wherein, they are contributing to the mess. I can't convince him of that tho.

So hi ho, its off to work I go, let the day begin.

Good Morning Happy Thursday May 7th!!

Nothing significant about this day, just thought I would pump up the positive, happy vibes.

Michelle.....I, too, overslept yesterday morning and really had no desire to get up this morning. I cut out shaving legs, etc in the shower when running late. Better not do that too often, Tony will think he is dating a gorilla. hehe

Shad...I still haven't started with Jillian, may have to wait till the weekend, with Curves and tanning, I am just too pooped to even open the dvd. I know, excuses, excuses, they are like belly buttons, everyone has one. Being a contractor, tell the no it all to take a hike. You can get away with it. Smiles...

Patty...good morning and happy day to you!

I feel like a fat pig today. Got on the scale and was 155. Holy sh*t. That is up from 143, therefore I am hard at watching the cals and more exercising starting today. Don't want to hear muscle weighs more than fat, that I know, but eating too much makes more fat, which is what has been going on the past few days, excluding yesterday. I sometimes think, oh well, I exercise more and walk more, I can eat more. NOT NOT NOT.....not anymore.

I told Tony last night on the phone when he comes over, I am NOT making dinner, we are now watching our weight. He just laughed at me and said I was too skinny anyway. WOW<----never think of being called that. He also said that he NEVER expects all the meals I fix and thinks of them as a bonus to the evening. Not to worry. What a punkin.

Got my cup of decaf, my glass of water, and my glass of iced all on my desk and ready to start the day. Plan on taking a walk, even if it is in the mall with all the temptations, as it is raining here today. I must say I am getting tired of rain, as I did the snow and cold weather.

Hello to everyone...

Have a triple terrific day.

Much love and many hugs...

HAPPY THURSDAY LADIES -

I'M ALL FOR TYPING IN ALL CAPS IF IT WILL HELP MEL'S EYES. I'M DOING WELL TODAY. I DIDN'T WAKE UP AS SORE AS I'VE BEEN LATELY...SO THE PAIN IS AROUND A 5 AS OPPOSED TO A 7 OR SOMETIMES 8. I REALLY NEED TO DO WEBSITE WORK AT NIGHT....BUT I WOULD JUST RATHER WATCH THE BREWERS BASEBALL GAMES...THEY'RE PLAYING SO WELL!!! BUT I REALLY NEED TO DO THE WEBSITE WORK SO I CAN SEND OUT THE INVOICE. THE SOONER I SEND OUT THE INVOICE THE SOONER I GET PAID.

SHAD - GOOD FOR YOU FOR DOING SO WELL WITH THE JILLIAN DVDS. LONG AND SLOW IS HOW YOGA IS DONE....BUT IF IT HURTS EASE UP....AND JUST DO WHAT YOU CAN. MY YOGA INSTRUCTOR SAYS YOU SHOULD NEVER WORK TO THE POINT OF PAIN WHILE DOING YOGA. PILATES, HOWEVER, IS A LOT OF PAIN...VERY DIFFICULT MOVES, DESPITE HOW EASY THEY MAY APPEAR. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT....I DON'T DO A PILATES DVD, HOWEVER, I DO INCORPORATE FRONT PLANKS, SIDE PLANKS, HUNDREDS INTO MY CORE WORKOUTS...LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO WORKING OUT...EVEN TO DOING PLANKS...HOW CRAZY AM I? (DON'T ANSWER THAT!)

PATTY - HOW DID JENNY GO YESTERDAY?

ANNIE - I LOVE ALL YOUR POSITIVE VIBES! MY GOAL FOR THIS YEAR (AT LEAST) IS TO BE OPTIMISTIC, HOPEFUL AND HAPPY NO MATTER WHAT LIFE HAS IN STORE. SPEAKING OF WHICH...MICHAEL J. FOX HAS A SPECIAL ON ABC TONIGHT CALLED "ADVENTURES OF AN INCURABLE OPTIMIST". IT LOOKS REALLY GOOD (AT LEAST IN MY OPINION). AND ANNIE, WHILE 155 MAY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A FAT PIG...IT'S ACTUALLY PRETTY CLOSE TO MY GOAL WEIGHT, AND I'M MUCH SHORTER THAN YOU. OH WELL, IT'S ALL RELATIVE I GUESS. I KNOW YOU'LL LOSE THOSE FEW EXTRA POUNDS....YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. :)

MEL - I HOPE YOU'RE ABLE TO GO TO TRADER JOES WITHOUT GETTING RAINED ON. LET US KNOW ALL THE YUMMY STUFF YOU STOCKED UP ON. THE CLOSEST TRADER JOES TO ME IS ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY....SO I DON'T GET THERE THAT OFTEN. I'LL HAVE TO SHOP AT TJ'S VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOU!

HERE'S TO A GREAT DAY FOR ALL OF US!

LOVE AND BIG HUGS,

PATTY~ WAVING HELLO BACK TO YA

:rain: THE WEATHER WAS OK WHEN I LEFT. HOT AND HUMID AND I WAS DRESSED FOR COLD AND WET. TOO MANY CLOTHES!! THE STORE IS GREAT. THEIR JELLIES ARE LIKE HOME MADE. BOUGHT GRAPE AND BLUEBERRY. THEY WERE THE SPECIALS THIS MONTH ALONG WITH SUNFLOWER SED BUTTER THAT IS DELISH. GOT CHICKN MARSALA, BOLOGNESE LASAGNA, TURKEY MEATBALLS, SIRLOIN TIP ROAST(TINY), FROZEN AND FRESH FRUITS AND VEGGIES, ORGANIC EGGS AND MILK, BUTTER LETTUCE WITH RADICCHIO MIXED IN, AND SOME VEGGIE BURGERS & SAUSAGE LINKS. I ALSO GOT YOGURTS AND ASSORTED OTHER JUNK..I FORGET NOW. OH YES...SINGLE QUICHES. I AM GETTING PRETTY GOOD AT SHOPPING FOR A MONTH. THE REST I BUY AT A REGULAR SUPERMARKET. IT WAS A GOOD DAY BUT I MISSED WILLY BOY. KIND OF GOT USED TO HIM COMING IN AND REACHING FOR EVERYTHING HE SEES ME LOOK AT!!!
DID SOME OFFICE STUFF AND CAME UP HERE TO FINISH PUTTING THE PANTRY STUFF AWAY.
POURING OUTSIDE AND WE'RE HAVING THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TURNED OFF THE PC BUT I FORGOT :faint: OH WELL...IT'S PASSING NOW ANYWAY! I AM TIRED AND GOING TO WATCH SOME TV.
BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THIS SAD TALE:
I WILL CALL THE 2 AGENCIES SSI & SSD OK?
SSD SAID THEY OWE ME OVER $3100 AND THAT IS THEIR FIGURES SINCE 9/2007 WHEN THEY FORGOT TO TELL ME I WAS ELLIGIBLE FOR SSD. A MERE SLIP OF THE COMPUTER. HAD I NOT TOLD THEM ABOUT MY $5 RAISE IN DECEMBER, THEY WOULD STILL NOT HAVE NOTIFIED ME CAUSE THAT'S WHAT BEGAN THIS WHOLE MESS.
SSI SENT ME A LETTER TELLING ME THAT WHILE SSD OWED ME THAT MONEY, THEY HAVE NATURALLY TAKEN OUT THEIR SHARE OF THE FNDS BECAUSE THEY WERE SUP[PORTING ME ALL THAT TIME...SO SSD DEPOSITED THE BIG OLD SUM OF $127 INTO MY CHECING ACCOUNT...WHICH IS WHAT WAS LEFT AFTER SSI TOOK THEIR $2,998. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT TOOK THEM ALL THIS TIME TO FIGURE IT OUT AND ANOTHER 5 LETTERS LATER THIS PART IS SOLVED. THERE IS STILL ANOTHER PROBLEM THOUGH: SSD SAYS I AM ENTITLED TO $213 EACH MONTH FROM THEM AND SSI SAYS SHOULD SOME OF IT BE GOING TO THEM? AND ALSO...WHEN I LEAVE MY JOB IT'S GOING TO BE AN EVEN BIGGER PROBLEM! BECAUSE THEN SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREMENT GETS INVOLVED! GEE...I CAN HARDLY WAIT!

OK I AM OUT OF HERE AND WANT TO TRY THE NEW SUNFLOWER SEED BUTTER & BLUEBERRY JAM ON TANDOORI NAAN BREAD!!! I BOUGHT THE PLAIN BRED...NO GARLIC OR CURRY TYPES FOR ME!!
HAPPY THURSDAY!

Happy Friday ladies -

I'm so glad the work week is nearing an end with 2 days of R&R on the way. I've got PT this afternoon, and am looking forward to it. Right now, there is a man in the parking lot replacing the windshield on my car. Darn rocks that get kicked up by trucks. Oh well, at least they can fix it while I'm in here earning the money to pay for it!

I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day. I plan to spend quality time with my DH and dear 4 legged kids. :)

Mel - That sucks that SSI decided to be such SS-HOLES and take dang near all the money that SSD decided to give you! :tantrum: Hang in there, sweetie. I love the weekend picture...I definitely plan to relax. Ahhhhhh.

Annie - Congrats on 8 months with Tony! Good for you for all the exercising....I can't catch you right now, but hopefully soon.

Shad - Are you enjoying your weekend? Any fun sightseeing trips planned?

Ceejay - Do you get a day or two off anytime soon after all the hours you're working?

Patty - How's it going with Jenny?

Jolly, Happy, Ruth and everyone else - We know you're really busy...but we are thinking of ya'! Hope things are going well!

Well, I'd better get to it....first I'll look out the window and see if my car windshield is done.

Love and big hugs,

GOING OUT TONIGHT WITH A GROUP FROM MY LAST WORKPLACE. VERY EXCITED TO SEE EVERYONE. CHAMPP'S SPORTS BAR/RESTAURANT WITH AN OUTSIDE VERANDA. KIND OF EXCITED. NOT EXCITED ABOUT THE COFFEE I SPILLED ON MY WHITE SHIRT ON THE WAY TO WORK. YES, THE SAME WHITE SHIRT I AM WEARING DIRECTLY AFTER WORK TO GO OUT WITH THE GROUP. WAHHHHHHH....

I might not use all 12 in a year....but it would be nice to have the option. I'm sure you'll have a great time with your former co-workers, despite the coffee/white blouse wardrobe malfunction! aAAAH THE URGE TO KILL HAS PASSED. I HAD THE BLOKE FROM THE PLACE WHERE I AM REMOTELY STOCKTAKING IN MY CUBICLE YESTERDAY AND THE POOR GUY HAS SO MANY HATS TO WEAR AND JOBS TO DO THAT IT IS NO WONDER THE DINGBAT GETS AWAY WITH WHAT SHE DOES. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS LACK OF TRAINING BUT NO. THE DINGBAT GOT MORE TRAINING THAN MOST. SHE WAS BROUGHT TO MELBOURNE FROM GERALDTON (SMALL COUNTRY TOWN IN WA (THE LAND OF DINGBATS) AND WAS MORE INTERESTED IN THE SHOPPING THAN THE WORK. tHEY'VE SENT EXTRA TRAINERS UP THERE TO SHOW THEM HOW IT IS DONE TWICE AS WELL. I'VE HEARD THIS FROM 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT PLACES NOW SO THERE HAS TO BE A GRAIN OF TRUTH IN IT. SHE TELLS ME I CAN'T GO HOME UNTIL THE STOCK TAKE IS FIXED AND FINISHED. AND WHO, MAY I ASK, GOT IT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE???? HUH??? SHE AIN'T GONNA BE IMPRESSED WITH MY RECOMMENDATIONS NEITHER.

I'M OFF OUT TO A PLACE CALLE NARRE WARREN THIS MORNING WITH MY FRIEND RUTH. SHE IS GOING TO GET ANOTHER BURMESE CAT TO KEEP THE OTHER COMPANY. HIS ORIGINAL MATE GOT RUN OVER AND KILLED SOME TIME BACK. SO I AM OFF TO SEE THE PUSSIES!!!

i'LL BE BACK TO DO SOME PERSONALS LATER.

hi ya all
And happy mothers day to you all - well those who are mothers to 2 legged or 4 legged babies anyway.

Been shopping for some amethyst coloured jewellery but couldn't find any of the real stuff so had to settle for some of the glass stuff in varying shades of purple. Why is it that when I don't want something it is all the rage or fashion and when I do, its well out of style. Guess I am just not one of your fashion trendsetters.
I'm going out to dinner with a nephew tonight and I have a new amethyst coloured top to wear. I don't often wear this colour but fell for the top and bought the darned thing.

Patty - lucky you won that cash. Must have been someone looking over you knowing what was coming.
Haven't completely figured out the caps on here yet. As soon as I do, I'll let you all know. All I know is that it has something to do with the button on the top right of this box. Soon as I do, I'll let you know

Oh how hard it all is.
Monday has really set in here and I have problems coming out of my ears. I would not be surprised if someone actually blew their top today. Might even be me.
I'm supposed to be doing regression testing. However someone forgot to give me a password into the test system. So I rung the 'help' number and it asked me if I wanted someone who spoke English. Yes I said. Well it was English but with an accent so thick he couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand him. What a shemozzle.

Enough of my problems. I'm passed p*ssed. I'll just keep doing my stocktake thing until someone arrives at the Singapore office in a couple of hours time. Add to that I have two people trying to do their job and the system doesn't work for them. They really need to get into it because they get paid on the input time and if they can't enter it, they won't get paid! Oh goody, now we have peoples livelihoods on the line.

I hope you are all having a wonderful mothers day - with your mothers and/or being the mother. Have a fun day. I did yesterday.

Happy Monday Everyone!!

What A Marvelous Weekend. Went And Picked Up Flowers At Joy's House, Then To Lowes Hardware, Then To Momma's House To Deliver Her Petunia Hanging Basket Which She Sits On The Table On Back Porch. Don't Know Why She Wants A Hanging Basket When She Sits It On A Table. Oh Well It Made Her Happy. Then Went Home And Planted My Flat Of Petunias In My Flower Bed, Cut The Grass, Planted Spring Mix Lettuse And Spinach. Will Try To Plant The Rest Ofthe Garden If The Darn Thing Ever Dries Out Enough.

Yesterday Was Marvelous, Baby Boy And Girl Came Home, We Went To My Momma's House For A Bit Then Came Home And Ordered Chinese Delivered. Pooing Like A Camanche' Today. Then Tony Came Over On His Harley And Took Me For A Ride. It Was A Bit Chilly, But Not Bad As I Had On Long Undies, Two Pair Of Socks, Jeans, Hoodie, Leather Coat And Gloves. I Know That Was Sexy! Not! Could Of Slept In A Bit Today If Not For Work. Shuweee Am I Sleepy Today.

Patty...thank God For The Extra Cash. I Know It Goes When God Closes A Door He Opens A Window Or Something Like That, However We All Have Other Plans For $$.

Shad...the Equation For Your Job....work = Frustration. Go For The Kill.

Roseblush...good To See You!

Mel....when You Say The Bird Like To Watch, Don't You Mean Pecker Instead Of Parker. Hwhahaha

Hope Everyone Had A Terrific Mother's Day As I Did.

Happy Monday ladies -

I had a busy weekend. I had to work most of Friday night and Saturday morning trying to figure out an issue a report was having. Couldn't figure it out as there was no logical (or illogical) reason for it to be happening...so I called my boss on his cell phone around noon on Saturday and explained the situation to him. He said to work with another team on Monday to try and figure out why this bug/issue is happening. And he told me to get outside and enjoy the weekend! Yay! So that got me off the hook for working the remainder of the weekend. So here I am this morning trying to figure out what's going on.

Yesterday, we went for a lovely drive. We ended up going to an area we learned about on the Internet that had lots of cool fossils. We found rocks with fossils in them that are over 200 million years old. Wisconsin was an inland sea way back when...prior to the existence of fish, reptiles, birds or mammals on the planet, so these were fossils of seashells, sea creatures and sea plants. Definitely way cool!

I've got PT today and Wednesday and an appt with the Sports Med Doc on Thursday. I'm doing better....slowly. The pain is still there, but a little less. So that's good.

Shad - I hope you found your friend a nice kitty. I love amethyst. I don't wear much jewelry... but I do like amethyst. Sorry to hear you had such a lousy stress-filled day. I hope the rest of your week goes better.

Ceejay - How nice that you're taking a long weekend off to go to your niece's graduation. I hope you feel better very soon. Rest as much as you can.

Patty - I wanted to wait to replace my windshield, but the crack just kept getting longer and longer. Bummer about you having to take your car in for repairs...but at least it's working now. Good luck with Jenny. Let me know how you like it.

Nae - Great to hear from you! You sound very upbeat and positive! Glad to hear you are doing well!

Mel - Glad you had a nice Mom's Day dinner, so nice when you can get delicious, reasonably priced food.

Annie - So nice that you got to spend Mother's Day with you mom and your kids, and topped it off with a fun ride on the bike!

Well, better get back to work...Lots to do.

Here's to a great day and week for all of us!

Love and hugs,

Isn't it frustrating to see all your hard work and thinking going down the drain. I did get it to work once. But only once. Ah well that's life.

Yes we got a kitten for Ruth - well she got it. It's a Chocolate point Burmese. Quite cute. Ruth has called her Aria. She has these hi falutin' names for cats. So far she has had Anthony and Cleopatra (must have been in an Egyptian fantasy), Chalcopyrite(known as Chalco) and Prozac (Zac) (from the mining days) and then Concerto and Puccini (she loves opera) - unfortunately Puccini passed on and now Aria has come to join the household. I rang her on Mothers Day to wish her a happy MD from Concerto and Aria. I might add that Concerto is not very musical!!!!

Ceejay - enjoy your trip.

Yikes time to go - see if I can get some more info on this regression testing and then back to the stock take.

Happy Tuesday ladies -

Another busy day for me. I had a really good, albeit painful physical therapy session yesterday. I'm still a little sore...but hopefully it worked some of my kinks out. And I got the go ahead to do more exercising...the therapist gave me several new hip, glute and leg exercises/stretches to do and said I could try riding a stationery bike for 10 or 20 minutes as long as I promised that I would stop if it was causing pain. My DMIL is coming out for a 2 month visit next Tuesday. I'm so looking forward to her visit!! DH and I have to do some housecleaning, so I plan to start on that after work today. I'll just do a little each day as I don't want to overdo and aggravate my hip and back.

Ceejay - Wishing you a wonderful mini-vacation! Enjoy your niece's graduation and time with the family!

Shad - The kitten sounds adorable! And I love the creative names she chooses! I hope work is going better for you!!

Annie, Mel, Patty, Happy, Ruthie - I hope you all are doing well and having a great day!

Love and big hugs,

Happy Hump Day ladies -

I worked late last night, so I didn't get all my stretches in. Luckily there are some I can do during the day at my desk without looking like a total dork! Today is going to be a busy one for this chick, but that's good...it'll keep me out of trouble. Got some report bugs to fix here at work, then PT after work, then home to let the dogs out and give one of my doggie's his insulin, and then a meeting with a web client. I think I'll finally be able to relax around 8:30 or so. But it's all good. Tomorrow I have an appt with the Sports Med doc. I am noticing some slow improvement. My minute to minute pain has reduced by about 1/2, though it can still shoot up there when I do stupid stuff - Like walk or stand for more than 15 minutes.

Shad - I really liked the tulip poem! Just beautiful! Who wrote it? Or did you write it? I hope your day is going better and that you don't get the boot.

Mel - Eye candy is so wonderful! And it doesn't have any calories or give you cavities! So nice of you to get the seniors a hibiscus plan! Sorry you had such an awful night...I hope your day goes smoothly. I agree with Annie...your building definitely has the makings of a good soap opera! Hang in there.

Ceejay - Have a wonderful time in MO! I wish the PT massages were relaxing and soothing...no such luck...they are typically very deep and hurt nearly to the point of tears...but they do seem to be effective. A guy I work with who also goes to PT for his back issues confirmed that it's not just me...the massages do hurt nearly to tears.

Annie - We're having a very rainy hump day here! So nice of your Tony to get you a helmet to keep your pretty head safe. As for the stretches, yes I do feel like I'm getting a tiny bit back into it. I've got clearance from my PT to try and ride a stationery bike for 10 or 15 minutes later this week.

Well, time to sign off for now.

Love and hugs,

I enjoy storms too, as long as I'm home. I don't much like driving when it's raining so hard you can't see or with the wind blowing so hard it's hard to stay on the road. When we win the lottery one of these days, my DH will probably become a professional storm chaser. He just loves that stuff!

It's a song from way back when - fifties/ early sixties sometime around there. It popped into my mind yesterday morning - before the day blew apart around me.

TULIPS FROM AMSTERDAM
Max Bygraves

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these
Tulips from Amsterdam

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these

Share these tulips from Amsterdam

9.5 days to going home. 7 full days of work left. But who is counting?
There may not be more work after this. I may become a victim of the recession - who knows. Life is an interesting sport.

We have problems here in the news again with our sportsmen. Some of you may have seen it on CNN. Strange how we pay young men way too much money and give them way too much free time, and treat them like demi gods and expect them not to misbehave? Rape and pillage seem to be the true sport. However I must also say that for everyone of those young men with wax between the ears instead of in them, there are some fairly clueless young women who follow them around and make fools of themselves as well. Not that I am condoning what happened. I'm not making judgement of anyone here, just that for every action there is reaction and for every behaviour there are consequences and for every right there comes a responsibility. I wonder if similar would happen if these blokes were paid $32000 per year and had to ride on the team busor go on a push bike, and live in student accommodation ??? There is a certain irony in saying - I'll just pedal on over and pick you up after the footy darl!!!!!
Enough said.

Mel, you do have some dramas in that place. Oh the joys of apartment living. Mines slightly different in that they are not all aged pensioners etc., but they do have fights, they do cook some delicious meals (yummy aromas), they do sing, party and exercise loudly and through it all there are the normal human dramas.

Annie, when you tried my way. Did you put the caps lock on first, then go to Advanced and then push the wee button?? It's a fussy environment.

Ceejay - enjoy the trip. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Michelle - I like to watch a good storm unfold and we have some doozies from time to time in Brisbane. Generally I have to suffer through them with the cats claws firmly embedded in my chest or legs. It's about that time she gets her claws clipped.

Gotta go - life is moving on and I must sort out a to-do list for this wind farm on how they should treat their stock. It's not going to be pretty reading or listening for some. And I don't think they will take much notice of what I have to say. However it must be said.

PS - yesterdays downtime on the site was to shift things to a new server, not because we (as in Mel and I) busted it.
There was an announcement earlier in the week about it. Maybe the new server will alleviate some of the problems we have been having.

PS1 Just checked the words of the song I printed yesterday and I got an awful lot of them wrong. Just as well no one has heard it sung for years.

SHAD~ LIVING IN APARTMENTS IS LIKE HAVING LOTS OF FAMILIES....THANK GOD WE EACH HAVE OUR OWN SPACES AND A DOOR WITH A LOCK ON IT!! :lol3: :lol3: COUNTING THE DAYS ALREADY? HAVE YOU NOT HEARD FROM YOUR SCOUT AT ALL ABOUT T=ANY JOBS ON THE HORIZON? AND IS THE TURBINE JOB BRINGING ON THOUGHTS OF WINDMILL SONGS AND POETRY? I MEANT TO ASK THAT YESTERDAY!! I AM UNSURE IF I HAVE EVER HEARD YOUR SONG...IT DID SOUND FAMILIAR THOUGH. BUT HERE YA GO:
The Windmill

Behold! a giant am I!
Aloft here in my tower,
With my granite jaws I devour
The maize, and the wheat, and the rye,
And grind them into flour.

I look down over the farms;
In the fields of grain I see
The harvest that is to be,
And I fling to the air my arms,
For I know it is all for me.

I hear the sound of flails
Far off, from the threshing-floors
In barns, with their open doors,
And the wind, the wind in my sails,
Louder and louder roars.

I stand here in my place,
With my foot on the rock below,
And whichever way it may blow
I meet it face to face,
As a brave man meets his foe.

And while we wrestle and strive
My master, the miller, stands
And feeds me with his hands;
For he knows who makes him thrive,
Who makes him lord of lands.

On Sundays I take my rest;
Church-going bells begin
Their low, melodious din;
I cross my arms on my breast,
And all is peace within.

The Windmill byHenry Wadsworth Longfellow

New avitar...baby girl, baby boy and me. Baby girl has on heels and I have on flats. It was mother's day at my momma's in front of the house in which I grew up.

I am so sad tonight, feeling badly for my baby boy. He lost his job, no health insurance, depressed, lonely and wrecked his truck yesterday. He hydroplaned off the road into a creek and hit a tree. Thank God he was not hurt and the truck is driveable, limping, but driveable. He and a buddy got it out of the creek. I just bawled and bawled all the way home from work. Still not quit sniffling and sobbing a bit. Man, I tell you, kids can just tear your heart out and pull at your heartstrings. I can't stand it.

Morning all,

6 full working days to go. I booked my flight home yesterday or the day before so there you go. 23rd May and no more Melbourne.

Mel - thank you for the windmill poem. One of these days I will get to Holland and see the windmills in action. Not that Holland has a monopoly on the things, there are some in Spain and Greece, England and Perth even has one in the Dutch style. Brisbane has one as well however that stands on the top of a hill which looks out across the city and down the river through the Brisbane Valley. Some enterprising person bought it and turned it into an upmarket serviced apartment block. Worth millions now.
Wish I could just cross my arms and all would be peace within. Not bloody likely right now.

Annie - glad the instruction worked. Sorry to hear about the DS and his new problems. He really has had some problems with jobs over the last year or so, hasn't he.

Michelle. Good luck with the PT. Hope it works out okay and the pain goes away for good.

Ceejay - why is Missouri called the 'show me' state???

Okay - I gotta go and sort out some more problems. I'll be back

Yesterday and today have been crazy busy at work and at home, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, it hasn't left me much time to post. I saw the doc yesterday....he ordered another x-ray of the lower back, and a bone density scan to see if there are any hairline fractures or whatever. He doesn't want me to do an MRI because there have been studies that once a person hits 45, there's a 95% chance that an MRI will find lots of abnormalities...and he doesn't want to chase after things that may show up on the MRI that may have nothing to do with the pain I'm having. He said to continue PT, and start exercising very, very gently - which this weekend will involve mostly cleaning for DMIL's arrival on Tuesday. He also said I could try chiro...but not until after I stop PT (in a month or two). He did highly recommend acupuncture and knows many patients who have had great success with that...so I'm going to make an appt to start acupuncture next week or the week after. He said if I don't notice improvement in 7 or 8 visits, I don't need to continue....it will either work or it won't and I'll know by then.

Annie - Sorry to hear about your son's job loss and accident. Are you doing anything fun this weekend that might help brighten your mood?

Mel - I'm glad to hear your shoulder is doing better and are having a good week. Enjoy the weekend with the kids!

Ceejay - Glad you're having a nice visit in Missouri.

Shad - So nice that you're able to see the light at the end of the Melbourne tunnel.

Jolly - I hope you had a great time on the cruise.

Happy - I know you're super busy...I just hope things are going well for you.

Love and hugs to all,

Good morning ladies,

My head is still spinning. This has been a wild couple of weeks.

Mom has come and gone. Really, really, REALLY enjoyed her visit. Said I was going to tie her leg to the bed frame so she couldn't leave  Each time I see her she looks a bit frail but at 82 can still kick some 50 year old's butts  I only hope I'm that spy at her age.

The real killer has been the homeowners association stuff. Like Mr. Obama, we seem to have inherited a huge pile of doo doo as a result of age and mostly neglect. It has taken a huge amount of my time over the last few weeks and I was starting to get resentful, particularly as it really cut into my time with Mom, especially during her last few days here. I'm hoping most of the crisis are averted and handled and things will calm down over the summer. The president was over the other night and he said quite honestly, if he knew last year when he agreed to step up what was going to come down, he would have turned and run away fast. Me too!

DH is still a free man. He had a very positive interview with a potential contracting job - they really liked him and his skill set. Were meeting the next day to go before the tribunal to get funding for the project and we never heard anything further. Even the contract agent is not answering calls or emails which I think is over the top rude. I told DH to get used to the fact he is literally a piece of meat for someone to sell and they are in the business of making themselves money, not getting you a job and he agrees. However, he turned on a dime rearranging his schedule literally an hour before they were to meet and we both think that at least deserves a quick callback - hey, haven't heard anything back, just wanted to let you know and we will contact you if something else comes along. Just simple courtesy.

And then there was the fiasco of trying to get the new insurance in place and lots of unexpected big expenses for eye exams and glasses, the higher cost of maintenance on older cars and we still have to get some summer flowers for outside.

I have barely peeked my head in here so forgive me if I am not up to par on comments.

Ceejay - I love the sound of the dulcimer. Hope you have great fun learning how to play it. Learning a musical instrument is excellent for keeping the brain young and healthy.

I'm sorry you are still having lots of issues Michelle. It really is tricky to find the right treatment. And frustrating too. Hope you can find some relief. Is DMIL coming for her summer visit? I remember you saying something about trying to get her to move back with you guys.

Annie - sorry to hear about your son. Sometimes it seems when it rains, it pours. Maybe you could sit with him and help him think of some other ways to find some work that he might not have thought of? I know when you're in that position yourself, you tend to get mucked up in the bad thoughts and need a friend's hand, even if you won't admit it. Stressing is probably keeping TOM at bay too.

Mel my pedalling friend - seems like you on the better side of life at the moment. Hope it stays that way. Still not good enough weather wise to open the pool yet so keep building up those leg muscles for kicking around in the pool chair with your smoothie drink :beach:

Shad - I'm sure most of our state slogans are related to politics for the most part in one way or another. I haven't looked at state mottos since grade school and outside of The Show Me state, couldn't tell you a bit what any other one was. Sounds like you are quite frustrated on the job. Is it this stint or just the workplace in general? We have a go live in 22 days - talk about a cast of thousands assembling

We're about to head out to run some errands, catch you later ladies.

Shad

Morning all,

Happy - good to see you again. Glad the visit with Mum went well and that you enjoyed the time so much. Sad to hear that another good idea - homeowners association is in the same state as so many others. Some people only seem to see the prestige, not the work that goes into it. I'm sure you will be able to pull it around.
With contracting, you never know whats coming and when. You can have a really positive interview and never hear from them again. On the other hand you can have a really positive attitude and never hear from them until 3 days before the job is due to start. I'm looking at two positives now and haven't had an update for a week. I don't have a problem with them ringing and saying no..... so what gives. I get tired of ringing them myself.

I'm off out to see the nephew and his wife today. It's her birthday so I have bought her some flowers and a chocolate rose. It's all done up on a long stem with red foil wrapping. Almost looks like the real thing. It's cold and wet today so I will have to wrap up warm. Need for thermals I think! Hope I can find the street okay after I get off the train.

Guess I need to go get ready. I'm starting to pack as well. Life is either busy or packing to go home. This bit I will enjoy

Hello Ladies,

One week on Jenny and i've lost 5.2 lbs. :carrot: I'm excited and pumped... I"m ready to take this weight off. So much going on this week, graduations, work etc.

Mitchelle - I know it's so frustating trying to find what is the right treatment. Don't give up.

Annie - I"m so sorry to hear about your son's wreck and job. I will definitely keep him in my prayers. Keep your spirits up.

Happy - Glad to hear from you. Oh, i've read about those HOA.

Ceejay - Tell the landlord they need to find another plummer cause this one is not doing the job right. Or them him that you'll find one and deduct the repairs from your rent. That might get him moving.

Mel - WTG on your exercise.

Shad - the countdown has begun.

Hey all * I hear you on how crazy the last few weeks have been.* YIKES :fr:I got back from my cruise.* Cruise was fabulous.* Trip home?* Not so much.* Cancelled flight.* Rerouted to a WI airport that my truck was NOT at.* Lost luggage.* Murphy's law of returns.* However, much to be thankful for.* 1)* The plane did not crash.* 2)* I was not abducted by swine flu or infected by pirates.* 3)* The chaos happened at the end of my trip, NOT the beginning.* All's well that ends well.* I, my truck, my luggage, and my fur children are all home, the laundry is almost done, and my youngest dog MIGHT forgive me soon :D

So, I am back, and back on track. I have to get through this Sunday's race, then get healthy for the full marathon. And get back to healthy eating. I will do it.

So, here's to all of you. I will be back tomorrow!

Morning ladies (well not really but let's pretend ;) )

We have a meeting with the financial planner Monday night to ask some questions so DH can finalize his pension and start collecting his pension. I need to get out of work a bit early so I will need to get in early too. Posting now because I won't have time in the morning. It's almost midnight here - I figured I'd post now while I'm waiting on the current load of laundry to finish. I won't be wanting to get up early either.

Weekend flew by. Worked outside helping DH clean up Saturday. So much yard work to do. Today was a clear but cool day outside. It would have been perfect to work outside again. DH and I chatted this morning about some HOA business again. I made a nice breakfast of some eggs, hash brown potatoes with bell peppers and onions and some French toast topped with fresh strawberries I got at the farmer's market on Saturday. So yummy! When dinner came I wasn't even hungry but I had a pork roast I needed to cook so we had that with some chilled cinnamon pears and some corn on the cob from the market. Not too heavy but quite tasty - lots of leftovers for the rest of the week. Need to find a good pork stir fry or something to use up the pork. I made a grocery list but never got to the store. Today just whizzed by at lightning speed. Talked to Mom tonight. She's all settled in back home again.

Not much else to say and the dryer just shut off so I'm off to pull out that last load so I can go to sleep. Will try and get back tomorrow night.

Morning all,
It's Tuesday and only 4 working days left here. It's getting close and I still have a mountain of doco to go. Getting it all in will be a test of the finger skills.
It's wet, foggy and bitterly cold out there today. The eyes were streaming tears by the time I got to work. Still we are only 2 weeks out from officially being in the winter season. It's so sad how Man has to put a date and time on everything. Mother Nature never really agrees and does her own thing anyway. If she feels like rain, it rains. If she wants snow, we get it regardless of whether we want it or not. What a woman.
Went out to dinner at a very old friends house last night. This woman and I grew up together, we basically knew each other from birth. We sort of lost touch after school, but now thanks to the internet, we are back to being friends again. We reminisced over old times and people. Her Mum is still with us at 86 and is well down the path of dementia but is like a hawk guarding her house and stuff. She refuses to go into care and although she has help in the house, she still gets around and really gets up the family nose with some of her antics.

Geez Happy - breakfast sounded good. Haven't had hash for ages and ages. Maybe when I get home again. Hope the Financial Planner went well and you got some good info. Rotten world as far as jobs go these days.

Annie - good luck with the surgery today. Hope it all goes well and isn't too painful or long. Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Wouldn't the lime juice make the cucumber even more acid??? Cucumber always gave my Mum indigestion and heartburn. I never ate it back then. I do now occasionally - generally when I can't get out of it.

Jolly - do we have a house yet? Good to see you back.

Mel - stay quiet and stay close!

Hi all,

Still have bread for french toast, strawberries, pork roast and I can open a few more cans of pears so c'mon over ... :hungry:

Financial planner had a mix up in his calendar. We went over there for nothing. To be continued... I feel like I am getting more and more behind. Perhaps if it gets away from me long enough, I will come full circle!

Annie :crossed: and prayers that all goes well with your surgery and you heal quickly. 24 hours from now it will be all over. I hope there are people to pamper you. At least for the day.

Shad - never seems like they give you enough time to do your job before it's time to leave. Glad you got to connect with an old friend. Been meaning to ask you something but the harder I think about it, the further into the cobwebs of the brain it goes. Will come to me sooner or later, no big deal.

Ceejay - the nice thing about BBQ is that you can get one pulled pork sandwich, have your taste and then be done with it. Saturday I am picking up a whole smoked butt at the Pig and Whistle north of me. Boy Scout fund raiser. Got one last year - I was sceptical but it was delish!

Jolly - glad you had somewhat of a good time on vacation and like you said, if it had to happen, better on the back end. Picking out decent running shorts sounds like something to be proud of, since most people would NOT want to be running. A full marathon, wow. :faint: I'm impressed.

Mel, sorry you are indisposed. Hope you feel better  Take some good reading material in there with you.

Patty :congrats: on the super weight loss!!!! I saw some of Jenny's food. Looked pretty good. Wide range of stuff. Keep up the success!

Michelle - sorry to hear you are still feeling so poorly. I am very curious as to how the acupuncture works out. Please let us know. As we wind up for summer, I'm sure you are eager to get out of the house and on your feet! Mom said the aches and arthritis didn't bother her quite so badly down here. I think the midwest weather is hard on the bods.

Time to get to bed. Goodnight all.

Happy Tuesday ladies -

We had such a busy weekend, mostly getting the house ready for my DMIL's arrival tonight. I'm SO happy she'll be here soon! I love having her around! Even though DH helped A LOT, all that cleaning really did my a number on my back. I'm glad I've got PT today. Tomorrow afternoon, I'm having a bone scan to look for any anomalies that might not show up on an x-ray. My doctor doesn't think there will be any, but he just wants to make sure there's no hairline fracture, etc. Tomorrow evening, I start acupuncture treatments. The tests will determine whether or not there is any structural damage, and the acupuncture and continued PT will make me better soon. I have confidence that by June 1 (and hopefully by Memorial Day), I will be able to walk pain free! Yay!

Ceejay - The dulcimer is such a lovely instrument! Good for you for learning how to play it.

Annie - You did have a busy weekend! Phew! Made me tired just reading about it. Hope you didn't get the freeze they predicted for your area after you put your garden in. I hope your surgery goes well today!

Happy - Great to have you back. So glad you enjoyed your time with Mom. Too bad the homeowner's assoc. took up so much time. My DMIL is arriving tonight and will be here for two months. Then back to CA for a month or so for a wedding. Then back here for at least the holidays and maybe permanently. That is the plan now...but nothing is set in stone. Good luck with your upcoming go live. I hope when you do meet with your financial planner it will go well.

Shad - I'll bet you're looking forward to putting this current job stint behind you.

Patty - Congrats on the awesome weight loss! that's wonderful! How does the Jenny food taste? How much is it per week? What do you buy at the grocery store to supplement? Sorry for all the questions.

Mel - You are an exercise :queen: ! YGG! Good for you!

Jolly - Glad you had a wonderful time on your cruise...sorry that the trip home was such a mess. Good for you for getting back on track and back in training mode! :woohoo:

Well, I'd better get some more work done before PT at noon.

Love and hugs to all,

Had a wonderful PT session....it's amazing how pain can be reduced by a few assisted stretches and a painful deep tissue massage (that nearly brings tears). I am positive that a combination of PT and acupuncture will give me great results quickly! Yay! :) I'm soooo happy and optimistic that after many months, pain free is right around the corner! :woohoo:

My cruise was to the Bahamas. I have an accepted offer on a house, but it is a short sale, so I am waiting for the seller's bank to approve as well. Fingers crossed.

Must be getting old. I was so sure I had posted this morning, but I haven't - arrrggghhh.

I was supposed to be going out to dinner tonight with friends but their mum got taken to hospital with stomach pains yesterday. We cancelled for tomorrow night - so I guess we will still manage to met up.

Haven't got time for personals unfortunately and I need to get into the packing as well so I'd better go and get on with it.

I will be back tomorrow. Hopefully T will be back at work so life will settle down somewhat. See you then

Hey Girls...thanks for all the well wishes. Been run over by a freight train lately? Whew...surgery went well, of all things, blood pressure went sky high in recovery, almost had to stay overnight. Finally got it down to 152/84 and they let me come home. Throat hurts slightly, have a headache, but NO CRAMPS this morning. Amazing what vicoden can do for a nights sleep. WONDERFUL. Will catch up later, just wanna lay around and not think...Samantha and Tony stayed last night till I went to sleep, many friends called too, I am so blessed, and getting sappy. Sheesh.

So Glad It's Wednesday!

DMIL arrived last night. Her flight was delayed by 2 hours, but at least she got here safe and sound. I'm taking the afternoon off today for medical/back stuff. I'm having a bone scan where I have to show up, they inject dye into my veins and then return a few hours later for the xrays. I'm going to try and get my mammogram done while I'm at the clinic too. Then in the late afternoon, I have my first acupuncture appt. My leg muscles are really stiff right now, and my back is a bit sore. From what I've read...one of the things acupuncture does well is loosen tight muscles.

Annie - I'm glad the surgery went well. You just rest, relax and take your pain meds.

Mel - Sorry to hear about all the office drama, and the drama that Jen and Richie are dealing with in terms of selling dad's house. Hang in there.

Jolly - Congrats on the accepted offer! and all the running/training! You Rock!

Shad - So nice that you are packing up and saying goodbye to all the chaos and stress from this current assigment. How many days left?

WELL....I SPOKE TOO SOON ABOUT FEELING GOOD. YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS BUT AGAIN AT 3:30 AND 7:30 I WAS BACK IN THE BATHROOM. THE SUSPECTED PROBLEM IS COLDCUTS. THE FIRST TIME I ATE OLIVE LOAF AND THIS LAST TIME I HAD CAPICOLLA HAM. WHEN WE SHOP, WILLY HELPS A BLIND WOMAN OUT AND I GET HIS DELI ORDER CUT AND BAGGED. WE MEET LATER ON AND HE HELPS ME FINISH. HIS MEATS SMELLED SO GOOD I BEGAN BUYING THEM....NOT ANYMORE!! I JOURNAL MY FOOD FOR MY FACE SO THIS IS THE ONLY THING I SEE I HAVE CHANGED. SIGH
ON A SCARY NOTE... ON MONDAY, THEY CLOSED THE SCHOOL DOWN THE BLOCK FROM ME IN THE NEIGHBORING TOWN WITH SWINE FLU. I HOPE THEY CAN CONTAIN IT!! :yikes: I AM TRYING VERY HARD NOT TO THINK OF IT OR THAT WILLY DRIVES A SCHOOL BUS FOR OUR TOWN EVERY MORNING AND THEN COMES HERE AND GETS INTO OUR BUS AND DRIVES US AROUND. WE TALKED ABOUT IT AT SOME LENGTH YESTERDAY. HE SIAD SOME KIDS ARE GETTING SICK AND GETTING CHECKED OUT FOR COLDS OR FLU. I WILL NEED TO MAKE DECISIONS ON WHETHER OR NOT I WILL BE GOING BACK OUT WITH HIM ANYTIME SOON. SO YESTERDAY I STOCKED UP. THE REST I CAN HAVE JEN AND RICHIE BUY OR GET DOWN THE STREET. I HAVE PLANS! :carrot:

Morning chicks,

Quick one for me.

Sorry to hear about the swine flu Mel. We had a couple of cases down the road. I think because of your compromised immune system and Willy possibly being in contact, you are wise to be extra cautious, bummer that it would be. Taking a chance would be just too risky in your case. I'm sure there are all sorts of things in cold cuts that would upset the tummy - preservatives and all that. Doesn't cappicola have spices too or just the "hot" version. DH loves that.

Michelle - poor girl - hope you can get some relief. Enjoy your visit with the DMIL.

Annie - glad you got through surgery all right. Rest up.

Shad, good luck with the packing. We'll catch you back home.

Jolly - hope all goes well with the house. There's bargains to be had if you have the cash/credit.

Another day at the salt mine for me. And with that, I'm gone...

Two days to go. Pity they don't have a skipping smiley. You know, I whinge a lot. We are coming to the end of this contract, but I haven't hated every minute of it. Done a lot of head shaking and finger pointing but at the end of it all, I know I can't change all that much. Stupidity is incurable. The thing that makes me sad is that there a lot of people out there in the field ready to embrace this system and all its possibilities. However thanks to the aforementioned stupidity, not much will be achieved. I'd like a chance to go before the head shebang and put forth my arguments for these people but it won't happen either. I am not about to wear a hairshirt over it or bash my brain out on the Westgate Bridge. Sh*t happens. Some places are just deeper in it than others.

Mel - I hope Jen and Ritchie have a good time with the kids at the caravan and that the selling of the house is not too traumatic or stressful for them. Guess Dad's entitled to do whatever he wants with his money, however I wonder how long the girlfriend will remain once she has rendered the cheque book and cash card worthless?

Jolly - pleased to hear about the offer in on the house. Hope it all works out.

Better go and find my man to buy me some lunch. Back later.

Morning all. Annie and Mel - hope you feel better soon. Me? I need a severe kick in the arse. Preferably several. I am back working out, but my eating sucks. I have gained more since being home than on the cruise. I am not sleeping, which makes it harder to choose the right foods, and eating too much and the wrong things makes me toss and turn all night. crazy cycle I have to stop! Please, bring out your inner Jillians, and give me a kick!

Hi ladies,

I just finished a roasted vegetable sandwich for lunch. Rather pricey for 2 tomatoes, some romaine lettuce, a ton of onions (which I pulled off) 2 zucchini rounds, 2 summer squash rounds and some mushrooms on a whole wheat bun, but it was quite tasty even if ungodly expensive for so little. I REALLY have to get my act in gear and start bringing my own food.

Not much going on. Looking forward to the 3 day weekend, even if I do have a ton of things on the to-do list. Pool isn't opened yet. DH needs to call the pool people. I keep reminding him, he keeps forgetting. Hasn't been warm enough to warm the water up yet anyway.

Jolly - I have Jillian's fat sister in my head. She would rather kick you a plate of brownies than lift her leg to exercise, I'm afraid.

Yikes Shad, I daresay you will be dancing through the airport getting on the plane back home tomorrow! Today's workplace is just a whole different arena, isn't it? I can appreciate your desire to try and do your job properly, sometimes I think the most stressful of all jobs is the support and the training roles.

Mel, come on over. I'll make you a drink and fill a bucket with warm water for you to stick your feet in as we sit on the patio and watch the birds. Hope you enjoy your time with Jen.

Ceejay - I too think it's a waste to call a meeting on the day before a big holiday. I take it that you were supposed to be off?

Annie and Michelle - hope you two are feeling better and that you get some warm healing sun rays out your way. Seems like you've gotten alot of rain lately.

Looks like the rest of my lunch is over. Back to spreadsheets and charts :comp: See yah...

Happy Thursday ladies!

It's my Friday! Yay! I have the next 4 glorious days off! :woohoo: I'm going shopping with DMIL tomorrow, and we're going for a lovely drive on Saturday and hopefully finding some fossils that DMIL can give to her grandson. Not sure what we're doing Sunday or Monday...maybe fishing if it warms up a bit...we're having temps in the 80s now, but wouldn't you know it...this weekend it's only gonna get up into the 60s!

The bone scan went well...hardest part was lying still on my stomach for 1/2 hour. Then acu went well also. Lots of acu needles all over the place...didn't feel most of them...just felt a couple...not really painful at all. Hardest part was lying on my stomach for 1/2 hour again. Luckily today at PT, my PT told me what proper pillow placement would be for when I have to lie on my stomach. PT went really well...a really good deep tissue massage. She says I can go back to light cardio, which is good because I'm afraid to get on a scale...I just know my clothes are tighter. But she cautioned me not to do too much too fast...okay, okay...I'll be a good girl.

What do you chicks have planned for the long weekend??

Mel - You take good care of yourself and probably a good idea to avoid the bus rides until the swine flu goes away in your area. We've got a couple schools in our area that are closed. And yes, they did do the mammo after the dye was injected...so the girls were radioactive! I hope you're enjoying your visit with Jen and Richie.

Shad - So is this your last day on the contract? I'll bet you can't wait to get back to your home and garden.

Jolly - Here's a :buttkick: for you! Although I've been gaining wait too and my back pain is really more at my hip/derriere, so it really is a pain in the arse, but hopefully it will be all better soon.

Annie - I hope you're feeling better and are able to enjoy your weekend.

A big  to all my wonderful worldly friends!

Love and many hugs,

Jolly
I really need to get back on the wagon also. Maybe we could give each other little pep talks every now and then. I won't kick you in the pants though.

Shad
You must be one happy person right now. Home sweet home.

Michelle
I've had a bone density test a couple of years ago but I lay on my back for a meer ten seconds.

Annie
How are you doing today?

Our early morning meeting was okay. There was one person that got a little fired up over things not mentioned. The meeting was about cleaning schedules. She was rude by interrupting the boss several different times and hateful. He lost his cool once but had a right too. I said my peace when I had the chance.

I'm trying to think of something good to have for dinner. Oh, and the landlord came to fix the cut off valve to the hot water today under the bathrooms sink. Infact he had to replace the whole line. I'm a happy camper.

Went to the Mexican resturant for lunch today with a friend and brought half of it home. It was way to salty for my taste, and the fluid retention is already showing in my ankles. Had the chicken nacho's.

Hi y'all,

Lots to get done for work today before starting the holiday weekend with 23 things already on the to-do list. None of which are holiday like! It's overcast here and a bit cool, 50 percent chance of rain which makes for a dreary weekend. Summer is sure dragging it's feet getting here.

Not much going on here except boring stuff.

Michelle - a pillow will help so much with the things they are doing to you. Surprised they didn't do that for you with the tests. People don't think!

Hard to find Mexican food that isn't salty Ceejay. There's a tiny little place down the road from work. They have the best guacamole - chucks of avocade with diced tomatoes, onions, cilantro and fresh lime juice. Soooo yummy with their homemade chips. But a diet killer.

Time to get to work. Everyone enjoy your weekend.

IN THE MEANTIME LET ME GIVE YOU SOME GOOD NEWS ABOUT MYSELF: FIRST OFF ONE OF THE GOVT AGENCIES SENT ME A NOTE AND TOLD ME THAT AT LONG LAST I AM ENTITLED TO HEATING AID AND IT WILL BEGIN SOON. THE SECOND THING IS THAT SOC SECURITY SENT ME A NOTICE TELLING ME THAT INDEED THE 2 CHECKS WILL BE DEPOSITED EACH MONTH INTO MY CHECKING ACCT BUT TO MAKE SURE MY BALANCE EACH MONTH (COUPLED WITH JEN) NEVER GOES OVER $2,000...LIKE THAT WOULD BE HAPPENING!! I JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFUL DURING XMAS AND INCOME TAX REFUND TIMES. SO ALL IS WELL THAT ENDS WELL. HAD A GREAT DAY WITH JEN AND THEN RICHIE YESTERDAY. THEY SPENT THE NIGHT IN TOWN AND WERE OFF TO THE TRAILER THIS MORNING. TODAY I WORKED IN THE OFFICE AND GOT TONS OF STUFF DONE FOR THE SENIORS. THEY HAVE SOME NEW GARDEN FURNITURE, NEW UMBRELLAS, 2 BEAUTIFUL HANGING BASKETS AND THEY ARE ACTUALLY HUNG UP TOO!!! I AM GOING TO GET THEM A TRELLIS FOR THE HIBISCUS I GOT THEM LAST WEEK. THEN THEY ARE ALL SET FOR THE SUMMER AND THE BACKYARD LOOKS RATHER SPIFFY IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF!! :beach:
I FEEL BETTER NOW AND THIS WEEKEND I AM SPENDING TIME LOOKING OVER MY OLD "DIET" AND DOING SOME LOW CAL COOKING!!
HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY YOUR WEEKENDS AND STAY SAFE

short post here today. I'm in the last minute packing mode. Just a bit of a cleanup around the joint and I am good to go. Geez I can collect some stuff though.

News yesterday that I have a new job in Sydney working for Coca Cola. It's a short term (6 week) deal but may lead to more work in Brisbane. So far it hasn't started off too great because I've already had a spat with the recruiter. I had spoken to the interviewer and agreed I could be in Sydney at the beginning of June and he seemed okay with that. The &$&#*#* recruiter told him that I could be in Sydney by next Wednesday! What. So I have told the $%^&#% recruiter that I will be in Sydney ready to start of Thursday or the deal is off. Since they want someone fast, they have agreed. I pointed out to both of them that it isn't my fault that they are so disorganised as to not working out their requirements early and not advertising early enough and that I am not about to land in Sydney stressed and unready. Take it or leave it. I did point out that if they wished to pay for someone to come in to my place and take over the organisation of the animals, plants, cleaning, clearing and washing, orgainising me a place to live and dealing with the bills and mail, then I could probably make Tuesday. They declined. Thursday it is.

Having said that. I'd better go finish the pack/ clean section of Melbourne and get ready for breakfast. I'll look at personals later today.

have a happy and safe week end.

I spent my over time dollars on some new furniture. Bought a new matress and box springs, a chest of drawers and a new computer desk. Now I'm set for old age and maybe a less paying job. This job is getting next to me. She ordered the computer desk today. So maybe by next week end I'll have new furniture. Now if the land lord would update the appliances. I might do that myself and when I do retire I'll take every thing with me. whoohooo.

Don't eat to much. I'm starting again in June.

Hi ladies,

Did manage to knock some things off the to-do list. Got a pretty red hibiscus for the front yard as well as 2 dwarf, compact yellow ones. Got some new flowers in pink and purple for the side yard - they are tropical ones, the names are new to me but they are pretty. I spent 2 hours cleaning out the flower beds. All the while I was wondering why. My neighbor has a magnolia tree that borders our driveway. She NEVER takes care of it. All the dead leaves fall to the ground and blow over to our nicely mowed, neat lawn. On the other side the people have vacated west as they hated it here. They are trying to rent their house but no takers. In the meantime the house is falling apart and the yard is a terrible mess. Weeds abound and they just blow right over to our yard so it's a never ending battle trying to stay on top of it. The only good thing is that I got some good exercise which I'm sure I will feel in the morning. Guess we will have to bury the flowers in mulch if we are to possibly stay on top of the weeds. People who do care and maintain their yards here say this is the worst year for weeds they have ever seen.

My coworker's son was having a Boy Scout fundraiser where they were selling pork butts (smoked pork roasts). We had to go way out in the country to pick it up. Gave us a chance to take a nice ride. We had a great bbq dinner at the restaurant where we picked up the roast so I'm sure that will be good too. Stopped at a roadside stand and got some great peaches, strawberries, a pecan pie for DH (too sweet for me), and some orange pineapple marmalade I am curious about and eager to try at breakfast tomorrow. We drove around the area, looked at houses, decided it's nice up that way. Newer homes on large lots which gets you away from being on top of another like here. If those neighbors decide not to pick up their newspapers on the driveway for weeks on end. you don't see it from your house so who cares :dunno: It's something to think about in a few years, more out in the country as we'd want to but no way am I driving over an hour a day each way to get to work.

I think I actually did enough today to make me sleepy enough to go to bed earlier. I got up at 7 today, even though it was a weekend. Surprise, surprise Gomer...

Mel - have you decided you are sensitive to the herbs you have grown or are you just sharing everything you have once again? I know you have to keep things on the milder side. Will the construction guys keep you amused? ;)

Annie - the first holiday of the summer is meant to be celebrated just kicking back and enjoying things. I think it's going to be a very good year for corn. We got some last week at the farmers market and just like you said - so good nekkid it would be a shame to dress it up. Enjoy!

Safe travels back home Shad. Bet you are glad to be getting out of that place. And cripes - where's the breather to the new job? Hope it turns out to be a better environment but already it sounds like you'd better walk in with your running shoes!

Ceejay - yay on the new furniture. Not a bad idea to put out the money while you are working and get good quality stuff that will hold up. Used to be you needed alot of room on the computer desk but with laptops and such now, you can be quite versatile.

Jolly - hope you got back in the groove for prepping for your running again. Don't give in to the holiday temptations.

Michelle - hope you are feeling better after treatment and enjoying some relaxing time with your family!

I think it's about time for me hit the hay so I'll say Good Night now. Sleep well and safe travels.

Hiya all, from Brisbane where it is showery with sunny periods and heavy rain periods. 90 minutes down the road and the poor folk are under water. It's been a very wet autumn up here and the natives are not happy campers. It's good from the water point of view and the dams are getting fuller by the day, but lousy for the tourist trade. About now we normally have an influx of the grey nomads - retirees travelling around Australia) coming north for the winter. We are still have wet season so it's not a good look.

DS2 has done a fair amount of work in the garden for me. Trimmed the hedge, mowed the lawns, chopped back her next doors creeper which like Happy's neighbouring magnolia threatens to take over. So I have some weeding to do and some planting to do, but most of it is pretty good. I'm happy.

My niece is yet to have this much awaited baby. It was due on 18th May and here we are at the 24th. I've told her she only has until Wednesday before I go away again and I only came home to frighten her into dropping the thing. She's feeling somewhat uncomfortable and seems to have lost her sense of humour. It's her Mum's birthday today and the Mum said.... it would be a nice b/day present for me! All very innocently and got her head snapped off in that the baby must have it's own birthday but it had better be bloody soon. Aaaah well.

I'm too weary to do personals much today. I'm not thinking too well yet. Mind is on things like cleaning, clearing, cooking, finding new real estate for this Sydney job. Yep I'm off to Sydney. Home of Mel's friend and I need somewhere central to Circular Quay. I guess I really should go and check out the websites. I'll be back.

Hey all. Just a quick shout out, and happy holidays. Hope everyone is well.

I just finished the half marathon. :faint: There are no words. All things considered, it could have been worse. But I need different shoes (again), to get injury free, and to be more focused in my training for the full marathon. If I don't, either I will quit or my sister will kill me.

Have a good one all, and I will try to post more tomorrow.

Enjoying my last day off this week end. Didn't go to my aunt and uncles because they were having a class reunion.
I almost have the computer room the way I like it. I'm keeping the box spring and matress that I'm sleeping on now so I'll still have room for over night guest. Not that I have that many guest. Now to tackle my bedroom and finish cleaning up the bedroom before bed time. Yes I have to work tomorrow. We never close. I'll have to wait for the delivery before I can finish completely.

Good for you in running the marathon.

I bought half a pork roast from some neighbors down the street. I'm having that tomorrow for lunch.

Morning all,
Better get this written today before I forget about it and get excited (or otherwise) about something else.
I've passed the bullying recruiter onto the management company with express instructions as to what is happening with this contract and what I agreed to. They are now dealing with the $%^#%^&&* They have also given me a list of serviced apartments to check out for my accommodation. I'd already found a couple of them but not all. I'm on to that as soon as I get off here.

Ceejay - well done on the furniture. Wish I could find what I want as fast, however the only things I have seen that I like are very expensive - and I found them in Melbourne which doesn't make like any easier. Can you imagine the delivery fee! Melbourne to Brisbane around 3000Kms. It seems to cost around $55 for about 20K around here. :yikes: Anyway enjoy the new stuff, you worked very hard to get it.

Mel - good going on the gardening spree and thanks for sharing. They proabably won't get around to thanking you.

Happy - always something to do around the house. Never varies either. The minute the job is done, you might as well put it back on the bottom of the list to be done again. How's the pensioner going???

Annie - good to hear that you are back up and moving again. Loved the sound of the corn.

Michelle - Glad to hear the MIL is back. I know how you enjoy her visits.

Okay - time to get off here and go do what it is to be done. I have plenty but I seem to have mislaid my list. No doubt I could write it again but do I want to??

Memorial Day - in memory:

They shall not grow old as we who are left will grow old,
Age will not weary them nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We shall remember them.

Happy Tuesday ladies -

Sorry I've been away. The weather was SO nice all weekend, I didn't want to be inside, much less on the computer. Friday, DMIL and I ran all kinds of errands and went out to lunch. Saturday, we went for a drive in the country and took DMIL fossil-hunting. We all found some really great fossils. On Sunday, we went to the nursery, bought some veggies and flowers and did lots of planting. And yesterday, we went for another drive. Although it was sunny and fairly warm, it was a tad too chilly and very windy for fishing. Hopefully, we'll get out on the boat later this week or weekend.

I haven't started back at the gym yet....but I got exercise fossil hunting and gardening...and even though my back got sore...I did better than I thought I would. Oh, and on Sunday, my doggie got out of the yard (DMIL accidentally left the gate open) and I had to sprint about two blocks after him. Luckily a neighbor was able to catch him after he crossed a very busy street and was heading for the woods. I was about to collapse from an asthma attack. All's well that ends well, my puppy got home safe thanks to the neighbor! I'm hoping to get to the gym tonight for some very light cardio and floor exercises.

Ceejay - Glad to hear your sink got fixed. And congrats on the new furniture! That's wonderful! :) I saw on the Weather Channel that they had flooding in Jonesboro. Is that near you? I hope you're staying high and dry.

Annie - Dang, I missed your cookout on Sunday! That'll teach me not to check in for days. Our corn here is very late as we had a late start to spring. I bought some at the store - must've been shipped in from somewhere, and it was a bit tough. My DH keeps telling me that one of these years, we will get to Indy for the race. He went with his dad several times as a kid. He watched the race on TV of course. I sort of watch the race on and off...mostly after it's halfway or more done. How nice you got to enjoy your great niece!

Mel - Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you get the heating aid...and that Social Security finally got their sh*t together.

Shad - Good for you for standing up to the recruiter and getting yourself a few days off between jobs to take care of the household. Good for you for getting things straight with the management company and getting right on finding yourself a place to stay. I hope you get to see your great niece or nephew before you head to Sydney.

Happy - Sounds like you had a very nice weekend. Sorry to hear about your neighbors' lack of yard upkeep. Our next door neighbor keeps his yard immaculate. We probably drive him a bit crazy as we let our grass get a little longer than he does, and we don't weed whack with every single mow...We do it as we can based on my back and DH's knee, but mostly we keep our yard nice. Too bad that your country homes are so far away from where you work. We live in a subdivision but out in the country amidst farms, and my commute is only 1/2 hour (unless it's a blizzard or something).

Jolly - Congrats on finishing the half-marathon! You rock, sista! You are definitely the exercise :queen: !

I've got to sign off and get to work! So much to do in a short week!

Love and big hugs to all,

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING TO YOU ALL...ALMOST HUMP DAY ALREADY!:carrot:

SHAD...GREAT NIECE OR NEPHEW HERE YET? HOW EXCITING! I LOVE BABIES. TOO BAD THEY GROW UP AND BE KIDS AND TEENAGERS. KIND OF LIKE PUPPIES AND KITTENS. THEY GROW UP AND BE CATS AND DOGS. LOL

MEL...SHOPPING CAN BE FUN WHETHER WE NEED TO GO OR NOT. I AM ON A WATERMELON AND CORN ON COB KICK. CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF EITHER OF THEM. HAVE FUN.

MICHELLE...WHAT A FUN WEEKEND WITH DMIL. I USED TO GO FOSSIL AND COIN HUNTING WITH MY DAD WHEN LITTLE. NEVER FOUND TOO MUCH OF ANYTHING. GLAD YOU GOT YOUR GARDEN OUT, MY GARDEN IS GROWING BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS. TOMATO PLANTS LOOK MARVELOUS AS DOES THE PEPPER, ZUCHINNI, AND CUCUMBERS. HOPE ALL DOES AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS. SPINACH IS ABOUT READY TO HARVEST, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, LETTUCE IS COMING ALONG RIGHT BEHIND IT. SO GLAD YOUR DOGGIE IS BACK SAFE AT HOME. WHEN HELLA BELLA GETS OUT SHE DOESN'T USUALLY GO FAR BUT IT SURE MAKES THE HEART PUMP.

CEEJAY...WE HAD SOME FLASH FLOODING YESTERDAY AND ROAD CLOSURERS IN ONE COUNTY OVER FROM US, BUT ALL AND ALL NOT TOO BAD. THE GARDEN NEEDED THE RAIN, BUT NOW IT CAN STOP. WE HAVE SCATTERED SHOWERS FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

SURE IS HARD GETTING BACK INTO THE SWING OF GETTING UP AND COMING TO WORK. I AM NOT NOT NOT COMPLAINING HOWEVER, I AM STILL GRATEFUL AND LOVING MY JOB. IT IS THE GETTING UP PART THAT JUST KILLS ME, ONCE I ACCOMPLISH THAT IT IS ALL DOWN HILL.

SKIES ARE GETTING DARK AND DREARY BOUT TIME FOR A GULLY WASHER.

HELLO TO EVERYONE.

LOVE AND HUGS

Hey Annie - Hope you don't get washed away by all the rain. We're going to be having our share of rain today and tomorrow as well, which my plants will be happy about. My cherry tomato plant already has flowers on it, so I'm excited about having some sweet yummy tomatoes in the near future. The thing about my doggie getting out that upset me more was that he was heading for such a busy road and I didn't have the back, legs or lungs to catch him....the bratty little turd! I'm so glad he's home safe and sound. And I'm going to S-L-O-W-L-Y work on striving for more fitness, less pain and easier breathing.

I've started reading "Body for Life for Women" by Pamela Peeke. A lot of the "after" photos look a bit more body builder-ish than I want.....but I'm sure I can get some good information out of this book.

Michelle...your exercising will come back, it is great you are taking is slowly. Question: Does losing weight help with asthma? I guess it might, since your lungs wouldn't work as hard. I have just never been around anyone with asthma. I am sure getting out in the garden helps build your strength and is good exercise. I love cherry tomatos. They tend to grow easily. I may throw some in the corner of the yard by the fence for easy growing. I am sure any health/exercise book would have at least a few things we could use for our fitness, my problem is just applying them to my situation. lol. I just read an article on another thread about eating dried plums (prunes) for curbing appetite. You might try that as far as eating healthy goes.

Hi Annie - Yes, losing weight does help a lot with asthma, as does improving cardiovascular fitness. I know that when I was working out regularly and 20 lbs or so lighter, I could do a flight or two of stairs without getting winded. As of right now, I get winded with one flight of stairs (if I'm carrying something like laundry).

congrats on the new baby Shad - glad to hear the niece finally "delivered"

Michelle - with the BFL I'm sure you can adjust the workout to get a cut look instead of "Arnold". Some people get into lifting and just really really like it alot and decide to take it to a better level.

Lots of pop up storms around here. Good for the new flowers we just put in.

Gotta run to a meeting  to all

Hey all. Sounds like busy times for everyone. Congrats on new babies etc. Glad your pup didn't get away Michelle. That is always a huge fear of mine.

Well, feeling pretty good, all things considered. Got to go in and look at shoes tomorrow, then back to the running regimen. Hoo ha.

That's all I got for now. I don't even know what day it is. Crazy!

Not an Aunt yet. DB2 rung this morning to say JJ is in hospital, she is in labour and will probably deliver around 12 midday. Which all means that I will not get to see the baby before I go to Sydney. Aaaah well. At least I got home in enough time to get her moving. Must have been the chocolate fish I bought for him yesterday.

I've just got a bit of packing and a bit of housework to do before I go to catch the plane. Not a lot of time either so I guess it might be time to get on with it.

I'll be back later with personals.

I'm a great Aunt. I have a new little niecelet. Born at 8.55am this morning 27th May at Logan Hospital, Logan City, Queensland Australia.
No name or weight yet. They are dithering between two and no weight yet, but she has a great pair of lungs.

Happy Wednesday -

I worked a long day yesterday - 12 hours. Got home, ate, showered and watched TV. Today, I've got acupuncture after work. I'll make sure I have proper pillow placement this time to lessen the back stiffness I get laying on my stomach.

Shad - Congrats on being a great aunt! Are you in Sydney now? Will you be making any trips home or just waiting until the end of your contract?

Happy - Thanks for the suggestion to modify BFL. I thought people, especially women, couldn't get "ripped" like Arnold unless they took some kinds of supplements. Anyway, since I can now go back to the gym, I'm going to set up coaching appointments...coaching is free...but is more discussion than training. Hopefully, I can talk the coach into enough "training" to ensure that I'm doing my PT and other new exercises correctly. I of course want to lose weight...but I need to get my back and core and legs fit and strong.

Jolly - Congrats on getting new shoes...I'm so impressed by your dedication to your training and achieving your goals! YGG!!

Annie, Ceejay, Mel, Patty and everyone else - I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Love and hugs,

Good morning all,

Niecelet - love it Shad! Congrats on the new baby. I'll bet Annie would be jumping the line to be the first to hold it

I really like that Congratulations pic Mel.

Michelle - from what I understand in order to be in competitive "Arnold like" body building you would have to work out something like 6 hours a day. And those ladies look like that only when "posing" when "at rest" they don't look all big and bulky like men do. I didn't believe this myself until DH pointed it out with several different examples. Thing is, most of us would never work out that hard. My friend's BF is a body builder and they work out together. She can leg press 300 pounds and he has her working something like 30 pound dumbells and she just has great tone, no buldging muscles. Hope your therapy goes ok.

Annie, I think eating prunes curbs your appetite because of it's poo effects.

Hot weather curbs my appetite. Yesterday they turned on the tropical steamy button. We had lots of storms but it's soo muggy outside. I walked a little bit and was drenched in sweat.

Sorry to be so short but I gotta get running. Have a good one all.

Happy - Thanks for the further info about lifting. My goal/plan is to get strong and fit and tone, and have my body feel, work and support itself like nature intended. Wow! 300 lb leg presses? 30 lb dumbells? Sheesh, and I thought I was lifting a lot (compared to other female exercisers at the gym) when I graduated up to 8 lbs dumbells. Of course, now, I'll probably use 4 or 5 lb dumbells since I've lost a bit of muscle tone.

It's Hump Day, Whew Whooooooo.......

Gray and rainy today. Made back to Curves last night, tanned, stopped at DDs house for hair color, dug a 2 1/2 ft. tree out of her yard and took it home and planted it. They have a bazillion little trees that have come up all around their yard from and inch high to 3 ft. I told her boyfriend he had better get them out cause they are mostly around the house and cement porch/patio and walks..the tree will get big, the roots will too and bust up the cement. ah, what do I know?? Also planted two roma tomato plants and two cherry tomato plants. If all my veggies take hold, Holy cow, I will hafta open a market stand at the end of my driveway. hahaha

Happy...You bet I would be the first in line to hold that baby of Shads. It is quite humid here too, it takes a pair of scissors to cut through it to walk to your car.

Shad...Congrats on the new neice. Baby girls are so sweet and the clothes they have for them these days. Wow!

Michelle...darlin' don't work so hard today. You are going to wear yourself out then what good will you be to DMIL?

MEL...have a great day sista. I have no aches or pains from last week's surgery. Just a little bit of spotting. Not too bad at all.

Ate leftover BBQ meatloaf and a baked potato for lunch today. I love leftover meatloaf. Slapped a slice of cheese on the potato when I heated it up. YUM YUM. Now I am almost too full.

Not much else going on. Heya's to everyone. Have a great afternoon/evening/morning.

Love and Hugs,

Shad

Short note:
I am in Sydney. I work beside the Sydney Opera House. I can see the Sydney Harbour bridge out my work window.
Baby's name is Savannah and she weighs 7.2oz according to the family gossip.
I'm not sure whether I am going to enjoy this job or not. However I'm told today I can relax a little. Tomorrow I hit the typewriter or should that be trypewriter.

Back later.

Hey all. Congrats on Savannah, Shad. But "chocolate fish" :fr: I realize what it is, but my first thought was chocolate covered cod. Blech. And being able to see the Opera House? Wow. They just did a bit on the news about a light show there. I would love to visit Australia.

Michelle, good luck with your accupuncture. And I agree with Happy about the body building. I think it also may need some additional hormones, if you know what I mean. Oxygen is a good magazine for serious weight training. They just talk fitness and nutrition, and don't waste time on "What eye liner is the best shade for me" crap. That's what Glamour is for!

Have a great day all:wave: Keep sending kicks in the rear for me. Motivation is low - the cool mornings do that to me. And never try to restart a diet during PMS. I bit my own lip trying to inhale some bad for me stuff

When I looked at the clock this morning I thought it said 8.29 a.m. but alas it said 6.29 a.m. Realized this after I was in the tub and the clock in the bath room said 7 a.m.

I've had a busy busy week. Memorial day I worked and those thunder storms drove me up a wall. Weird electrical things started to happen at the plant also. Called the plant's standby person out three times because of it. Yesterday the boss took one of the ground storage tanks off line for repairs in June. He had me doing odd jobs all day because of this. I was exhausted last night and passed out on the couch last night. Got up at 12.30 and got in bed.

Shad
Congratulations on your niece. I have two great neices and one great nephew.

Mel
I need routine in my day.

Annie
Enjoy your ride.

MEL....you could shorten it to R-tard, that is big around here. GREAT job on the exercising. I am sure I didn't get enough minutes in a Curves cause yesterday was my first day back after surgery. However, I worked in my yard Sat & Sun from about 10-6pm both days. Hard work too, not just fluffing around. So I probably got my minutes in last week regardless of Curves.

So much to catch up on and so little time! Work is busy as usual, which is great! I'm finally solving an issue that I've had for a couple days. Yay! Got an afternoon full of meetings and then hopefully gonna get to the gym later for some LIGHT cardio and LIGHT weights.

Shad - Congrats on Savannah and Sydney Harbor! I'm so looking forward to traveling to Australia one of these years!!

Annie - good for you for getting back to curves (and for the yard work). You'd better not be overdoing it either, young lady! :nono: Have fun on the Harley!

Jolly - Thanks for the recommendation about Oxygen magazine. I used to subscribe to Shape and Self, and didn't much like all the makeup and fashion stuff. I'll check Oxygen out.

Mel - Good thing they have you to keep everyone in line and make sure things get done. Too bad they need checking up on.

Ceejay - I'm not at 8 lbs now....gonna start back up slowly (and lightly). Don't work too hard. Remember to take care of you!

Big hugs to all,

Hi y'all from the steamy "why did I BOTHER to waste time fixing my hair today" south -

One thing it does especially well down here is rain HARD. We had several storms yesterday, bursts of rain and thunder. Not as much as Ceejay I'm sure but enough to give all the new plants a good watering. Poor Mr. Feral crawled into his dry bed on the porch yesterday and promptly fell asleep with an "I'm loving this blanket" look on his face. Not too many things more pitiful than a wet cat unless it's an old, beat up wet cat.

DH mowed the lawn yesterday (ours and our vacant neighbors - who are returning). He said our cat has been extremely busy hunting critters - I won't say much more than that but feel free to say ewwwwwww. She is (fortunately for her) leaving all the birds alone. Everyone is having babies - we have at least 3 wrens in the Coke box, 2 baby redheaded woodpeckers, a couple of baby cardinals that are buried so deep in the trees we can't count them and I'm sure there are some baby bluejays, robins and mockingbirds in the mix. The yard is ablaze with activity. DH is getting the mockingbirds hooked on cereal bars again - they have a real sugar jones.

How weird Shad. I was talking to one of my "cube-mates" yesterday and he is moving to Savannah (Georgia). Today I find that's your new grand-niece's name. And a pretty name at that. Do you get free Coca Cola on the job now? I know you aren't fond of the hustle of big cities but hope this job isn't so bad. Bask in the fact that most, if not all of us are envious of your view.

Ceejay - you must have almost been sleep walking this morning. Sounds like you are still shortchanged on the sleep. I think the weather should calm down soon and hopefully so will your job.

Mel - sounds like you are doing good on program. Now just keep it that way - so much better when you don't overextend yourself - even if for selfish reasons only because we get you posting regularly. Good for you getting your pedals in - I took a lunchtime walk (inside the building) to support you/us/me.

Annie - do you head out to the country when you go on the bike? My DH would avoid the nuts on the expressway and try and take the less travelled roads. Sounds like you have perfect weather for riding - not too hot or too cold.

Jolly - just remember that like here, the cool mornings will soon switch to steamy ones - get the runs in the cool while you can. Humidity suckith. :D Did you get some new shoes yet?

Hello Red nice to see you  Sure, you have grey buildings but don't you have gardens and cherry blossoms too - that is, if you can get away from work long enough to enjoy them. ;)

Michelle - 8 pound dumbells are pretty awesome to me! I still struggle with 5'ers. At that point too where tears and injuries are more common from stupid moves so that keeps me in check. Are you only doing accupuncture once a week? Did it help or too soon to tell?

 Patty, how are you?

I went over to Fresh Market (the foo foo grocery store) yesterday after work to pick up a few things. They had some different yogurts. One Aussie one, a new Greek style one and a Canadian one. I decided to try one of each. This morning had the Canadian one - fruit on the bottom - plum and walnut - an interesting flavor. I FORGOT to look at the label. 240 calories for a small 6 ounce carton. AHHHHHHHHHHH :frypan: I didn't want to toss it but geez Louise! That's like almost a whole meal by itself! It was good but not THAT good.

Lunch is over, time to get back to work. See yah...

Hey ya Happy...yep, we sure do ride the country side. Too many idiots out there for the highway. We were on the highway one time for about 3 miles cause there was no way to get where we were going without doing it. That was enough for me, I think the truckers like to play chicken with bikers. Kind of spooky.

I LIKE IT CAUSE IT'S ONE OF THE FEW FATS I DO EAT AND DOESN'T GIVE ME HEARTBURN.
POOR OLD MR FERAL. I WAS JUST THINKING OF HIM THE OTHER DAY. I LOOKED AT MY GRANDSON AND HE IS AGING AROUND THE EYES JUST LIKE ME  WONDER IF HE'S STILL ALIVE, IF I CAN TAKE HIM TO A NURSING HOME :lol3: :lol3: EWWWWWW ON THE LAWNMOWING!!

Howdy all,
Another short note. I'm still here although yesterday I tried to bring the system down with a worm virus. They had to come and take my computer away cos it was systematically shutting out users!

I'll try to get online over the weekend, however the place where I am staying charges $5 hour for broadband ($18 per day) I'm going to have to find a way to circumvent the system or use an internet cafe. That's totally ridiculous. $300 per month. Not likely mate!

Yoghurts sound interesting - I'd be interested to figure out which aussie one you got. Some are big on calories particularly the full cream milk greek style ones. However, you are lucky you didn't get NZ ones as the milk there has a far higher butterfat content. Aaaaah well.

Gotta go. I'm going to do some sight seeing over the weekend, but I will think of you all and try and get a decent post in.

SHAD~ SEEMS LIKE ALL I HEAR LATELY IS PEOPLE GETTING SOME KIND OF WORM IN THEIR PC. THOSE LITTLE SUCKERS ARE WIGGLING ALL OVER THE PLACE. MAYBE WE NEED A WORM CHARMER!!! HOPE THE PROBLEM GETS SOLVED! $300 FOR PC TIME!!! BS!!! I NEED TO MAKE AN INTERNET CAFE IN MY HOUSE....MAYBE I COULD MAKE SOME BIG BUCKS!! :lol3: :lol3: (of course i would have to get a computer that actually works!!)

:cofdate: OK...SO I LIED AND I AM BACK THIS MORNING. I CANCELLED THE FOOD SHOP CAUSE OF RAIN. JUST NOT UP TO SHOPPING WHILE WET AND IT'S TOO COOL FOR ME TO DO THAT ANYWAY. THE OFFICE IS ALREADY NUTS. THE BOSSLADY IS OUT AND THE PHONES AREN'T WORKING RIGHT...OUR CELL/RADIO PHONES THAT IS. SO THE WORKER BEES HAVE LOST IT AND ARE CALLING ME....WELL HELLO!!!...WTF AM I SUPPOSED TO DO...MINE DOESN'T WORK EITHER:tantrum: SO I HAD THE MEN COME UP HERE AND TOLD THEM STAY AWAY FROM THE CRAZY OFFICE AND TO CARRY ON AND RING MY DOORBELL ONLY IF THE BLDG IS ON FIRE :flame:

Good morning ladies,

Had to use my free time this morning to read over some papers about DH's pension that we have to make a decision on. So no time to post.

MEL...That's it. We will open an internet cafe'. I will do the grunt work you can do the mental/phone work. We can invite SHAD over for free internet and serve her up some grubb. Waddaya say to that? Keep on pedaling chickie. I am so proud of you keeping up with me and Ms. Chelle. I would go anywhere as long as Tony could come along, he is so much fun. Not too hard on the eyes either.

SHAD....ew worms...yuck, I have seen many of them come through my garden but none so far on my puter, knock on wood.

Happy....good luck with the pension papers, it is mostly jibberous to me.

Michelle must be having lots of fun with DMIL. Work seems to be keeping her pretty busy too.

May check in later today.........

Mel, I have an idea. Remember the Peanuts cartoon where Lucy set up a stand and charged for advice? You could do the same. Except when people complained or told you their sad story, you could look them in the eye, say WTF - GET OVER YOURSELF YOU BIMBO/FOOL/COOT (take your pick). I will be behind the box on the floor in giggle fits of laughter. I don't think opening an Internet cafe in your place is a good idea because then you'd have to teach the seniors how to use a computer. That would be fun - NOT!!!!

I'm a little nervous about those dormant worms myself. Saw something on 20/20 news show and the thing that scared me was how they can pick up your ids and passwords. We had one of those worms on our work computers. Kind of puts me off about online shopping actually.

Shad - some of the people here use their cell phones as a sort of Internet modem. It's mostly the ones who travel alot or have a home based business. Not sure if that is feasible for you - do you travel with your own laptop?

I tried the Greek yogurt today - lowfat so not the horrendous calorie exchange of the other but I wasn't all that impressed. Even with putting in fresh blueberries and strawberries. Next is the Aussie brand which I can't tell you the name of - they said it was much thinner than the Greek stuff or even our more popular Yankee brands.

Last night we went to a CONA meeting - Council of Neighborhood Associations. It was quite interesting even if we didn't get out until 9pm. The police gave a report mostly petty theft of credit and ATM cards in this economy. The mayor talked about another evil plot going on with the city of Memphis - worse than politics in Chicago. We also got a review of the city's proposed budget and planned improvements. We agreed we should go more often, just to stay informed. This homeowners thing is taking up alot of time. 2 evening meetings next week. In the meantime, my closets go uncleaned...

I wish we could take (short) naps at work like kindergartner's  I would bring my own blankie

Oops, I'm being summoned - dang did they hear my nap comment? :o

THE OFFICE HAD A MEETING AND NO ONE ATE THE GRILLED CHICKEN. JPHN PUT IT IN MY FRIDGE AND THANKED ME FOR THE DAY'S HELP. NOW MY HANDS-FREE WEEKEND CAN BEGIN IN THE MORNING....RIGHT AFTER THE CUTE A/C MAN LEAVES THAT IS! I THINK THE KIDS ARE COMING THIS WEEKEND SO PROBABLY SEE YOU MONDAY.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

Finally, an internet connection that I don't have to take a mortgage out on.

Well it is Saturday in Sydney and I have been to to the markets and stocked up on fresh fruit and vege, meat, fish and chicken and now just need to do a grocery shop and I am good to go for a week or more.

The DB2 rung yesterday to say that the baby's full name is Savannah Marie which I think goes together well. Of course her aunts and uncles will probably call her squirt or button or popsy which I don't think will worry the mother too much but will send the grandmother insane. Nothing like a bit of insanity in the family.

The job is going along okay. I managed to shut the system down the first day with the worm and no one knows how I got it. The computer was brand new. All virus checks and patches were up to date and still it was there luriking in the background. They took the computer away and are having 'discussions' with Symantec as to how the virus got in. Apparently one of the IT guys tried to be nice and stick my work from the first day on a USB and the worm blew that to pieces. Goodbye USB.
Several of us are having problems with wording on our contracts and will refuse to sign off on them. But apart from that we are going along okay. Not great just okay.

I'm meeting up with a friend at lunch time which is why I am typing so fast, I need to get some groceries and a shower and some breakfast once I get through here. I might have to do some running.

Since I have been down here, I have decided to go all out for the next six weeks to try to shift osme of this weight, so I am challenging myself to eat well, drink water and exercise for the next six weeks. I may go over to Red's thread and put it on there. I have to do something to get rid of this flab, which keeps inviting the friends in.

And that is about it really.

I see the psychiatrist is in. I may need a couch appointment soon. Cities do that to me.

Happy - Greek yoghurt is usually very thick and creamy. I like the stuff. It has more body and soul. We get some good ones here. They make the best cooking variety as well. Hope you have the pension sorted soon.

Annie - by all means take Tony with you to open the commune with Mel. I'll get there eventually. I'll give lessons to the olds. They are fun to work with. I had 4 old folk that I taught computer to some years back. The old lady was brilliant and 2 of the men were good as well. The last one only wanted to look at the porn sites - he was the youngest (he explained to me) and he felt left out in the cold. He was only 81 and far from past his prime. :lol3:

Michelle - glad to hear the back is feeling better. Keep watching carefully and doing things gently.

Ceejay - sorry you had to work on Memorial Day Weekend, but we have to do what we have to do.

Sorry if I have missed anyone, but I need to go. My hour will be up soon.

Hello ladies,

Sorry i've haven't posted in a while. Things have been pretty busy. I went out of town over Memorial Weekend. High School Graduation and a Baptismal. I'm a godmother. It was really hard to stay on the Jenny program while i was out of town, lots of good food. I did my best, but now it's time to get back on track.

Shad - Sydney! Can you keep that job for another year, and I'll come visit ya. Have to gather funds:) So what is your exercise plan for the next 6 weeks? I need to get some of this weight off too.

Ceejay - this whole week has been a blurr.

Happy - hope you were able to make heads or tails from the hubby's pension.

Mel - hope the kids get to come in. Enjoy your weekend!

Annie - What all did you plant?

Mitchellez - Hope you had a good workout. Take it slow.

Hi all,

Was sitting on the patio having coffee this morning and the baby birds decided to leave the nest. There were 5 in all. We had to help 2 of them a bit. One was a real straggler and hid in the pompus grass up by the pool and was too weak/too dumb? to get in the tree with the rest of the babies. I hope it makes it - we did all we could to help them. I have some pictures I will post later.

Lot's to do today - we were a bit delayed getting started as we sat on the patio and waited for the babies to get to safety. Had to leave our cat in the house and thank goodness the other stragglers weren't out.

The hot weather has set in. Will finish planting tomorrow - lots of errands to run today. We'll be having the pool opened soon. Should be warm enough now to warm up the water.

Not sure what happened this year but there don't seem to be any vegetable plants to be found. I know I didn't miss them but all there are is flowers and we looked in several places. I'm not planning on planting a vegetable garden this year but I did want to get some parsley plants as the butterflies use that to lay their eggs and was hoping to see more baby butterflies again. I might have to resort to growing from seeds.

Anyway - have to get moving here. Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Hey all. So glad it is the weekend. I need a nap! Did go and get a good workout in this morning, but food is still way off. I now need energy to clean and do my nails :)

STRESS :fr: I should finally get grades next week. I also should find out more about house. My sister had a "glitch" with her house closing - she signed all the papers, paid her $$$, but they couldn't give her the keys. WTF? And everyone is asking me? Ive never bought a house, and I wasn't there to ask questions for her. She is a big girl, and doesn't need me to run interference.

Anyway, enough about that. Enjoy your weekends everyone!

Morning all,
I'm back in the internet cafe, which is a misnomer as there really is not cafe, but that's okay. I had a coffee before I left the building.

Yesterday I met up with a friend from Jakarta days and we went out to a place called Palm Beach. Unfortunately it rained most of the time, but it was an interesting day. We couldn't walk up to the lighthouse (up the hill) because of the weather. Raining is not so bad but slippery slopes is another ball game.
So today, I am going out to Darling Harbour which is a sort of toursit attraction down here. I'll visit the Chinese Garden, the Powerhouse museum and maybe a couple of other attractions depending on the changing weather etc. Then I might browse through Paddy's Market and pretend Happy is with me so we can kill ourselves laughing at the tacky souvenirs. I might even take a photo of what I consider to be the tackiest. She who loves the picture most, may well get the item for Christmas!

Mel - glad to hear you are feeling chirpy and bright. Hope it lasts for ever. I hear you had Prince Harry in NYC this week. That would have been a great thrill for the girls, specially since he is considered to be Diana's love child. Such is life.

Happy - are you trying to upset the balance of nature with the bird aid??? Did you get that pension sorted out for the boy??

Patty - better come on over now. I don't know how long my temper will last in this city. Everything is expensive, crowded, noisy and arrogant. Melbourne is much nicer. Winter has hit Brisbane and it is now the perfect time of the year to visit the Reef and the tropical north.

Jolly - hope the grades go well and the house is unconditionally yours. I've jheard some funny tales about the real estate market over there. Aaaah well. I suppose everyone has to get as much as they can out of what they can. It seems that Las Vegas is badly hit. We had a Current Affairs doco on that last week and if you only believe a quarter of what they tell you, then it is still not good for the people.

So now, I am off to buy some new knickers and then down to Darling Harbour. I might even take a trip on the Mono Rail to see where I want to go next.

See you.

Just a quick check in. We're going to go fishing soon. Yesterday took DMIL to a Civil War museum in Kenosha that she'd heard about. It was a very nice museum and we all learned more than we ever learned in History class. Turns out Kenosha also has a nice Dinosaur and Fossil museum...we'll check that out another time. We drove back along Lake Michigan, which is such a big body of water, it's almost like the ocean in that you can't see across, etc.

The workout Thursday went okay. I could only do about 10 minutes on the bike before the pain flared up. After the 10 minute bike ride, I did a light strength training class that went well. On Friday, I had a great deep tissue massage to try and help some of the muscles relax and release the knots...I just wish they would stay relaxed and released. PLEASE RELEASE ME....LET ME GO.... Perhaps I should sing that to my muscles!

I asked my PT if I could try the recumbent stepper again and she said to try it, but stop if it causes me pain. She also wants me to try a water aerobics class (offered at the gym on Monday and Wednesday evenings).

Love and hugs to all,

Hey all. Busy weekend. Still not sure I have forgiven my youngest furball. Despite a late night, she was raring to go this morning too bright and early. Grrrr. Was a good mom despite, and took them to the dog park for a good run. My sister had a (nother) glitch with her closing - she closed, but the deal wasn't finalized :?:, so we went and tried out furniture to keep her mind off things. Was kind of fun watching her bounce on couches to see what had the right amount of squich  Of course, she laughed just as hard at me, because this guy I didn't see trying out a bed started talking to me and scared the crap out of me. I just htought the voices in my head were getting louder

Have a good one all. HEre's to a fabulous June
