OK all you gals out there...I apologize :^: I have dropped the ball for our next 5K...

Guess what?....it is less than 2 weeks away...

MOTHER'S DAY!

Now I know many of you won't want to do a 5K on Mother's Day....but you just might want to take that new attitude....that new weight loss you have....that new pair of shorts that show off that little...;) you have earned from all your hard work.

Or you may want to take the DH...remember he owes you this day...and the kids out for a 3.1 mile stroll through the neighborhood...or the zoo...park...mall...

It is your day :carrot: You deserve to do what you want.

I know Angie and I will celebrate it at church then we will probably have a nice 5K with our dogs...the kids might even take her out for lunch...who knows?...well I do ;) At our house my wife is NOT the mother of my children...but she is "mom" on Mother's Day...for my son, daughter, nephew and step-daughter...along with my ex-wife...and nephew's mom...complicated...but she is remembered!

AND SO ARE YOU!!!!!!!!!

Every woman out there is a daughter ~ mom to someone...

Every woman out there deserves her day :carrot:

May 10th is that day this year....have fun and if you feel like a 5K is something good for you and your family then jump on board...if not

Be ready for FATHER'S DAY!!! ;)

My in-laws will be gone, so I'm sure I can fit it in--either with DH and the dogs or alone on the treadmill.

Oh... while my mother is up in Virginia, I'll call her and tell her she needs to move her butt 5K as well! She, like me, is all about staying in shape, but for different reasons. I'm vain, she's healthy ;)

Gotcha in RONI :)

I just ran outside in the rain i didnt time it or nothing and i loved it!

Once again....we see healthy eating habits and exercising are not always about numbers on the scale...we can do things that make us feel good without having to use a measuring stick to see if we should "feel" happy today :)

So, how does this work. Are we going to all do this on Mothers Day and then post up times?

EZMONEY
05-04-2009, 09:52 AM
Cyndi and sws you both are in...have fun.

TBG ~ we all do a 5K (or whatever you are physically able to do...walk...hike...bike...exercise of your choice) around or on Mother's Day for this one. Because of the day and everyone's different schedules, we just do them when it works for us...some a week before...others maybe a week later. The actual time we get out is not the important thing. I will put up a results thread towards the end of the week...or as soon as somebody posts their time here. Have a great time.

I'm posting a time! It's not a time I foresee ever matching in the near future, but it comes with a hilarious story...

I biked to work this morning, no biggie. I planned to go to a stability ball class and then bike home. So I'm walking back to work (it's about 100 feet from the mall where the gym is to the door of my office building) and I see the personal trainer who I had for my complimentary sessions (for getting people to sign up). He says, "I'm going for a run. Wanna come?!?" I say, "How long?" 5K. "Sure!" I was mostly bluffing. We walk to my building, and I realize, "You're totally going to kick my butt, aren't you?!?" But I drop my stuff at work, and off we go. It was brutal! He's so upbeat, even when I got tired and cranky, he was like, "Come on, just 200 metres to go!" But he finally figured out the secret--tire me out until I can't even talk, and I stop complaining.

In the end, our time was 32:30 for 5K, surpassing my previous best by two and a half minutes. However, I know we were going much more slowly then he would have without me dragging him back. ;) That's okay--he said he likes running with company, and he was very nice about saying I really didn't slow him down that much. :dizzy:

Moral of the story: when you run into a personal trainer, run the other way!!

So, I'm planning to run to work Friday morning, and if I do I'll post my 5K time from that. I know it will be closer to 35:0, but it would be a little more realistic than the time I get when I've got a trainer running beside me. :dizzy:

Gary- I have no idea how I missed the sign up for this, but I did. Hit me over the head next time. I see #35 is still available, so I'm claiming it. Even if you don't add me, I will post in the results thread. i am planning on 5 miles tomorrow. If you don't hear from me, I passed out somewhere along the way.
