Now how is everyone doing? I'm slow as molasses but not giving up. I'm all Jenny all the time, except for my Thursday night dinner out. I choose plain and healthy but I've noticed that my weigh is up on Friday and the weekend.

I'd really like to show a big loss on Monday. Guess I should get off of the computer and get on the treadmill instead of sitting here.

Today was Day 2, and I already had to go off plan. But considering we were running around, I stopped at BK, had a garden salad w/grilled chicken and Lite dressing for my lunch, instead of the JC meal.

I can't wait til Thursday afternoon, to WI and see if this is going to work for me!!

Ok - FINALLY have time to post!!
Actually, I tried to post the other day from work but there is some security thing at our office that prevents me from posting! Apparently we are supposed to be actually working! :dizzy: How ridiculous.

Anwyay, PINK I can't believe that trip! What a story!! You are some friend for going through all that trouble! Really, I can't believe that about the brick thru your windshield - that's just wrong!

So, I had a good week - nothing too crazy went on. Thurs I had a slice of homemade pizza, but it wasn't big so I'm cool with that. And today I had a margarita (came with a pedicure). IT WAS SO AWESOME! But it wasn't big or anything, so I think it's cool.

I should be ok with the occasional splurge. Which brings me to a little venting I wanted to do earlier this week. This is about ladies in my office. OK, one lady is on nutrisystem. She had repeatedly asked me to join with her (which I felt slightly uncomfortable about since I hadn't even discussed going on a weight loss program yet). Excuse me, that is kinda personal. SO, anyway I told her I'd like to see the food, and then lo-and-behold it was horrible. Later I joined Jenny (when I was ready). She knows I get weighed on the weekend, so Monday morning, before I can even take off my coat, she accosts me and says "how much did you lose?". Not "good morning", not "hey how's it going?". So I told her how I lost 7 lbs. and she left me alone. Then a few days later I see her in the lunch room and she says "how is everything?", I say "great", she says "did you cheat?". WHAT? What kind of thing is that to say? AND just the day before another coworker overheard me talking about Jenny and says "are you really on it, or are you cheating?" WHAT is with these people? How rude!

And "cheating"? This is not some crash diet - it's a life change! I am learning a new way to LIVE! There is no "cheating" - it's moderation!
ANYWAY, I just had to get that off my chest b/c I think some people are just RIDICULOUS! and rude. I wish I had something sassy to say back to them.

Alrighty, I feel better having posted that.

Food notes: the salmon is very good, LOVE LOVE LOVE the french toast, cookout chicken is too saucy for me. I heard that the pomegranite cherry crystal lite is awesome, so getting some of that soon. I heart mango fruit salad from whole foods & zbars.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in for week 2! WOOHOO!! GO GO GO GO!!

Have a great weekend,
mbumblebee

*PINK* - I can't stand when I have to spend $ on my car... so not fun! But necessary right! Lately I even stopped getting my oil changed at the dealership b/c they always seemed to find something to replace (and it's only 2 yrs old). Now I just go to Fuller's - plus they give you a free car wash!

Had my weigh-in, I lost 3 lbs bringing my total to 10!! WOOHOO! YEAH!!

I'm still loving JC! I had the banana nut muffin this morning and it was AWESOME!! It was thawed, but still kinda cold - so delicious and rich tasting, perfect w/coffee!!

CHUCKLE: Last night my 6 yr old told me that she told her 1st grade class that I was on a diet and lost 7 lbs!! "They were like 'WOWWWW!'" OMG that is SO hysterical!! I didn't even know she knew about that, but she said she overheard me telling DH. Still makes me laugh, picturing first graders mezmerized by weight loss. Even funnier, she followed it up with "don't worry mom - you don't look any different to me!" It was priceless!

OK I have to share this food item w/everyone...

MY FAVORITE SALAD DRESSING!! Bolthouse farms has a new line of lite dressings, creamy and vinaigrettes. The creamy versions are made with yogurt instead of weird chemicals, and the vinaigrettes are made with olive oil. So, yesterday they were giving out samples at the whole foods near me. I tried a few - all good. I really wanted the ranch, but for some reason they don't carry the ranch at my WF. I did try the mango vinaigrette and it was fantastic! So far, I've used it to make the most delicious spinach and strawberry salad ever!! I just put some on my salad, toss and let it sit for a few minutes -- and it has such a great sweet/savory taste that I actually finish my ENTIRE salad!

2 TBSP has 30 cal and 1.5g fat. (less than the JC dressings)

If anyone has tried the ranch, let me know. I heard that maybe Jewel carries it - I already checked the Dominick's (safeway) near me and they don't have the line.

Update on Crystal Lite Cherry Pomegranite - bought it, tried it. It tastes almost exactly like a red popsicle (you know the kind). I told my DH that the flavor is "red". Pretty good. I also bought a buncha other flavors to try (the ocean-spray kind was on sale, so mostly those flavors). I do like the cran-grape alot.

Program Notes: I'm starting week 3 - This week I will be trying the JC Pedometer to come up with a baseline # of steps to work on. Interesting.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!

hugs,
mbumblebee

I lost 25 lbs on Jenny Craig!! LOL I sound like a commercial. Also, I'm back in onederland! Yay! Actually I did it using JC and GoWear Fit combined. I finally found a system that is working for me. It's happening slowly, but I think that is because I am integrating the tools into my life to make permanent change. Just wanted to share.

PS - I read the boards a lot but rarely post, so if I don't answer, I don't mean to be rude, sometimes I can't get back to the post to check in.

I lost 2.4 pounds this week! It sucks to have to pass on the breakfasts and the desserts but I guess the weight loss is worth it.

I'll be back to catch up with you all later.

I see this thread hasnt had alot going on lately. I hope everyone is still sticking to it. Im on week 3 of JC im a lifetime member havent done it in over 2 years but im back and doing ok. Im down 5lbs in 2 weeks. Its gonna be a bit slow since I lost some weight on my own so I dont have to much more to go im gonna have to work hard for every pound. Im exercising now about 4-5 times a week a hour each time so im hoping to tone up too. Im feeling good loving the diet this time im never hungry and enjoying the food. I always complained in the past but this time I think im just so ready to get to goal my mind set is right. I weigh in on thursday so I will start posting my weight loss for the week then. Good luck everyone!!

im def. sticking with it. today was terrible i worked for 14 hours so i had to eat at work. i had a chicken taco with just grilled chicken lettuce and salsa, and a salad. (That was at like 2pm) then i just got home at 11:30 and was finally able to eat dinner. im exhausted. i have to be back at work tomorrow at 11am. the gym is not happening tomorrow. though im a server and we were SLAMMED tonight because of the Bull's game. so im sure i ran around enough to count as a work out.lol. then i have to study for finals that i have on monday. Tuesday is the only day i am free from work AND school so i CANT WAIT to just sleep in and relax.. im hoping to lose four pounds this week, but thats sure not gona happen if i dont get some sleep and stop being so stressed. im finally going to bed.

so for some reason i feel like im going soooooooooooo slow with the weight loss thing. i mean.. ive lost 31 pounds which is AWESOME. but. idk i feel like ive been saying that ive lost 30 pounds FOREVER. another thing.. is that my body really trips me out. my official weigh in day is tuesday. so then ill weigh myself on thursday and ill be like... four pounds down, then the rest of the week im at the same weight i was at on tuesday.. until my next weigh in day when suddenly over night im down four pounds again for the week.. i mean im not complaining because.. who the **** doesnt like to lose four pounds "over night" but, it confuses me a little. maybe thats why i feel like im going so slow because my scale awlays says the same thing..... idk.

Im noticing the same thing I weigh at home and I dont see any weight loss then comes weigh in day and im dreading the worst and im down 2lbs, I go home to double check and thats right. I am trying not to weigh myself at home cause I see I dont loss till the last part of the week. Im thinking since im lifting weights I build up the lactic acid in the muscle which weighs a bit and then I always dont lift a few days before weigh in and that gives the muscles time to release so then my true weight shows. My biggest advice dont weigh yourself at home only let Jenny weigh you. Im trying to take my own advice. Dont get discouraged you are losing I have had to talk to myself about not being upset over little loses I figure the slower it comes off the better chance I have of keeping it off and that is so important.

Congrats Vickie, Im guessing your not happy about it since you didnt say anything else and no exclamation point but dont worry next week I bet will be a good number for you to be excited about. If I have a low week the next week is always bigger well so long as I dont ruin it.

Im so happy for myself tonight my hubby called wanted to grab taco bell like my all time favorite food and I said ok then couldnt stop thinking about it seeing my weigh in is coming up and im hoping to be in the 170s and I worked so hard all week, I called him back and said no dont get it. So I made my favorite JC dinner fish and chips and enjoyed every bite knowing I didnt give in.

im doing great. down 37 pounds so far! i am currently 185 and can not remember the last time i was in the 170's so that will feel awesome! my JC counselor is having me do 3 days off jenny and 4 days on, however, im doing all lunches by myself, mainly because im sick of jenny's lunches..hah. i found a great cookbook called Hungry girl 200 under 200, and it is 200 recipes under 200 calories, all of which very easy to make. my favorite so far is a pizza wrap that i have been eating for lunch. very good! only 196 calories:)

Here's a question for the group:

How active are you when you see good losses with Jenny?

I am trying to figure out why I was so successful with Jenny in 2005 and then when I've tried it again (several times since), I haven't been successful.

Is anyone finding a correlation between activity level and increased losses with JC?

Thanks for sharing!

Hello All!

I was reading your old JC thread, and decided to post on this new one. So I am a WW person since Feb, and lost 8 pounds.. and 12 total since December. I still have 70 to go, and decided to try JC (I am going to Vegas in August/a Wedding in December). It is getting delivered this friday and I am planning to start that monday June 1. I ordered the pre-planned menu but the price really freaked me out- I am feeling really shaky about this beacuse of the price and I basically cant do anything for a while in order to pay for that. But hopefully it will be worth it. Glad to meet you all, I hope I can add some insight once I get started too!.

im doing okay - 40 pounds down so far. however, i have this new thing now where whenever i eat breakfast, even after the first bite, my stomach starts KILLING me. and i dont understand why. i have never had a problem with brekfast before. i love it. and i cant just.. not eat breakfast because i work the morning shift and there for will be starving before i get home at 4pm. and working at buffalo wild wings im obviously NOT going to eat at work.

Vickie
06-09-2009, 01:43 AM
Nicole, that's awesome! I'm happy I found the key for me by not eating the breakfasts and desserts. Too bad it took me so long to figure it out.

Does your stomach hurt with all breakfasts or just certain ones? Maybe you are going to bed too hungry? Maybe try some water or tea or milk first?

I hope you feel better soon. You're only 12 pounds from goal. That is so exciting!

xpinkglowx2
06-09-2009, 04:58 PM
my stomach has mysteriously stopped hurting? i dont even know.. haha. i know its very exciting! but its taking FOREVERRRRR im used to losing 3 pounds a week and now im lucky if i lose a whole pound in one week. i just want to be there so i can go shopping already...

Oh this old menopausal body would kill to lose 3 pounds in one week! I'm happy with my 1.6 now. Slow and steady wins the race for me. You are SO smart to be doing this when you are young. I predict you'll be shopping before Fall.

I'm thinking about doing Jenny since I'm working again. :p I would prefer to do my own breakfasts. Do you think the counselors will allow me to substitute my own breakfasts?

xpinkglowx2

i dont see why not, as long as you know what to eat and stick to the allowed calories.

Vickie

Any one still on program? How are you all doing?

My JCC knows that I don't eat the breakfasts. She's ok with that as long as I keep losing and am substituting something healthy.

I had a really really hard two weeks. I lost a bit last week and am hoping not to gain this week.

I'm glad you're still doing well, Nicole. Change your chick to a 45 pound one! How exciting for you.

I lost on pound today. 32 pounds down in 6 months. Too bad I lost so much time in the beginning eating those darned breakfasts and desserts. Oh well. At least I know what to do now. 3 days of exercise for me this coming week, starting tomorrow.

StacyLee
07-15-2009, 11:03 PM
I am still on Jenny but the last couple months have been a struggle. I really should have come here for support but alas I did not. I am now back on a good path :)

Things started to go off the rails when I was on a 10 day vacation mid-May -- it was almost impossible to eat healthy out as a family and the hotel room did not have a microwave. We did a lot of exercising everyday and when I could I did eat healthy but when I returned I had gained a few pounds -- very frustrating. I kept going to my counselor but found it more difficult to stick to the program -- my momentum slipped.

The month of June was probably THE busiest I have ever had at work -- I will save you the details but suffice it to say it was very stressful and busy. That did not help me get back or stay on track. I continued treading water and my weight loss stagnated. grrrrrrrrrrr

The one good thing that has been happening the last month is that I have upped my exercise. I am walking 3 miles at least three times a week -- sometimes 5 times a week. I am riding my recumbent exercise bike several times a week. Doing an occasional swim (my inlaws live on a lake). I need to drag my hand weights out from under the desk and start using them too.

This last week I decided it is time to get back on the wagon and make a concerted effort to get back to loosing and I finally lost a couple pounds :carrot:

Loosing weight is so damned hard. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. I KNOW it is but there are times that I wish I could love myself as a fat person but therein lies the problem -- I don't like myself now, I have tried to love the fat person I am and can't, it is not healthy being as overweight as I am and I don't feel good physically. I NEED to loose the weight not only for psychological reasons but also to better my physical health.

Glad you are still here and making progress Vickie! YouGoGirl!!!

And a shout out to you too Nicole -- you have been really booking along!!! 7lbs. from goal?!!! That is AWESOME!!!!!

Vickie
07-16-2009, 12:11 PM
Stacy, I guess Nicole and I are just examples of getting on and staying on program. Eventually, the weight will come off. Nicole is young and active and has made remarkable progress in a short period of time. Mine is slower at 53 with my sedentary lifestyle but I'm happy with it. 6 months ago, I was 32 pounds heavier and much unhappier.

I understand what you mean about trying to love the fat girl. I couldn't do it. It would be one thing if the fat girl could be healthy but the odds were against me for that. So....I continue to plug along.

I can tell you that if you religiously follow the program AND do all that exercise you are doing...the weight will come off and probably quickly. My main goal now is that when I have a lapse....it can only be for one meal and then I MUST get immediately back on program. Vacations are hard but fortunately for my weight loss efforts, I don't take too many of those.

Now keep us posted!

I am thinking of joining JC but had a question - how do you find a great counselor at your center? I am hesitant to just walk in and hope for someone great. Suggestions?

StacyLee
07-22-2009, 12:41 AM
Lost a little over a pound this week and I know I should be happy but for as hard as I worked - walked 3 miles 6x, riding the exercise bike regularly, lifting hand weights - and keeping on program, maybe even eating a little less and all I get is ONE pound?!! I suppose the good news is it is in the right direction.

Daisy, JC is committed to hooking you up with a counselor that is a great fit. If you don't click with the counselor you can change -- no problems. I will state that the one I got is fantastic. Helps me focus on the positive, great cheerleader and listener, gives me helpful feedback...although it is a slow go, I really enjoy the weekly sessions.

Going tent camping the next four days. I am not going to eat JC food but I am going to try to eat healthy and exercise - hike, hike and hike some more. If we have some room in the Prius after all the gear and the three of us I will bring the hand weights...we need a bigger car for our camping trips!

Daisynyc -- I have only rejoined JC 2 weeks ago and the counselor I have is very nice but I feel like I could teach her a few things about Jenny and dieting in general. I'm trying to be open minded and I'll give it another week but I do think it's hard to find someone you click with. I guess we just have to keep changing until we find the right person.

I've been on JC direct for a week, but I'm not happy with the amount of sugars, fructose, high fructose corn syrup and preservatives in their food... as well as the number of "bad" carbs. I'm concerned, as someone whose body seems to respond to high protein/low glycemic index diets, that this will not work for me.

I joined Jenny today, and the cost is really hurting. I spent $160 (Aus) on food and joining ($25 for 3 months, which is good) and then had to go and spend another $40 on the perishables! Its really going to hurt until I lose this weight. Thankfully my parents are helping ($60 a week) but $100 on food is a LOT more than I've ever spent.

I'm really exicted about it though, as I know having my meals planned for me will make it easier for me to stick to it and lose weight.

I'm not liking the 3 years needed to lose it all though. Screw that!

I have had to lose the same 5 pounds several times to really make it stick but I think I have made a breakthrough and won't be turning back again :crossed:

I bought Jenny Craig's Touchstone DVD/CD package -- it was on sale I thought I would give it a chance. I am really liking it -- it gives me new ideas on how to talk to myself in a positive way in order to overcome those instances where I want to over eat. I have used some of the techniques and they have worked for me :)

I continue to walk anywhere from 9 - 12 miles a week, ride the exercise bike 15 - 35 minutes a day and use handweights a few times a week. The exercise does make a big difference on not only what I see on the scale but what I feel inside which IMO is more important.

One disappointment is the way my clothes are fitting. Yes, they are looser than they were when I started but not by much. I have a mini-goal to be down at least 10 lbs. by October 12th -- 7 weeks -- which as longs as I keep FOCUSED should not be a problem. What I really want in the next several weeks is to be in a size smaller than what I am in now which I think is doable.

It has been a slow and bumpy road but I am still on it and hopefully with time it will become easier. I AM keeping on the path until I reach my goal no matter how long the walk.

I've been on JC for few months ........but haven't taken it very serious. I restarted on today and have a new activity regi. I do jazzercise 3 to 4 day a week and love it. It's better than traditional aerobics in my opinion. Wish me luck!

I just joined JC last week. I weigh in tomorrow. I was not really happy about the cost, although I did get 14 weeks for $20. The cost of the food was about $135 for the first week. I'm on a really tight budget, so I'm going to have to see how I can shave that down. Some of the food is quite good, some of it I will not get again. I hope there are others out there that want to chat.

I've been on about 3 weeks now and went down 8.4 pounds. I'm pretty happy with that. I'm very busy and the diet is pretty mindless. So far so good. You don't actually have to order all of their meals, as you can save money by doing your own breakfast, now getting the vitamin bars, cutting out some of the dressing, syrups, etc. They have a promotion that if you order $65 worth of food for 12 weeks, they'll give you a free week. I guess that's pretty good.

Good Luck!

I'm on my 3rd week, down 10.8#s! It's exactly what I needed in terms of planning what I was going to eat and makes it much easier for me.

So I'm thinking of doing Jenny Craig. It's one of the last one's I haven't tried. I did Weight Watchers but this time around I want something I don't have to think about right now. I need something that's prettyu simple and JC sounds like what I'm looking for. I'm just worried about the food. I'm not a tv dinner type of girl, so I'm wondering if the food is good. Can someone let me know :) Thanks!

Hi, I also did WW and wanted to try something else...

I joined JC almost 1 month ago and I'm down 14.8#!!

I like the foods, the frozen entrees more so than the shelf-stable ones. It does have a lot of the old WW personal selection plan if you ever did that.
There are protein, fruit, etc lists.

I'm very glad I tried it, I'm very happy!

I also joined Jenny a few weeks ago and am down 8ish pounds. The food is REALLY good I find the variety very satisfying.
I joined Jenny Direct but am going to try to flip to the local center, I find the phone consults annoying. I actually like the group support of Weight Watchers and went for years unfortunately just didn't lose any weight.
Jenny has put me on auto-pilot with my eating and I like the exchange program.

I'm happy to have someone else on JC! You're doing great!

I just finished my 1st month - down 18#s.

I've been on WW too, this is so much easier! I'm so motvated to keep going!

Hey guys!

I am a chatter on the LAWL (LA Weightloss) forum as I am a former client. I REALLY want to do JC, but am afraid of the $. DH and I just bought our first house, and finances are tough right now. I just want the whole "auto-pilot" thing too!

I just need to work on DH... maybe a candle-lit dinner, rose petals... yeah, you get the point!

Welcome! I'm so happy to have other people here! I've been on JC since November 4th - I'm down 21.6#s! I still can't believe it!

It's really worth it for me, because I live in NYC and eating out everyday is much more than the $7 or so for a JC dinner. I've been very happy.

I'd love to hear about your exeperiences!
Good luck!

AMY -- LAWL Girl!!!

I am also a former LAWL client who fell terribly after the centers closed (along with a LOT of my money!) I have also been toying with the idea of joining JC but am worried about the cost as well as the fact that my husband and 2 kids -- 22 and 14 -- will be on their own for dinners!! Have you tried WW? I have tried in the past and lost soooo slowly that I gave up. "When you decide check back here!!! Happy New Year!

I have been doing JC for about 3-1/2 years. I have currently lost 50 lbs. I had reached my goal and then decided to lose another 5 lbs. Well that never happened and since then I have put on 8 more lbs. In all that time I have not quit, since I know the alternative would have been much worse. I prefer using the Jenny meals, since I like the food, the convenience and the fact that I know what I'm eating has been portioned for what I need to eat.

With the new year, I've decided I am going to lose the extra weight I've added, as well as the extra five pounds I wanted to lose before. That means 13.6 lbs.

Hopefully there are others who can help motivate me and hopefully I can help others!

Well I've been struggling to get back to good eating habits. I had all the best intentions, like others this time of year, but the excessive snacking is getting to me.

I am still determined and am trying hard not to be discouraged. This, too will pass.

Congratulations, Beth, on the great success. You must really feel good.

I just completed my first week on JC and had my first WI tonight. Already down 4 pounds! Woohoo! I LOVE the food. I am an extremely picky eater, and normally don't like frozen TV dinner type food, but I'm truly extremely happy with the food quality, taste and texture. The JC food is waaaaay better than Lean Cuisine, SmartOnes, etc. I'm a former LAWL'er, and I like JC much better. The huge downside is that it is expensive...so we'll see how long I can afford the program.

Wow, you are both doing so well -- congratulations! I lost 2.8 my first week on JC -- a little disappointing, but a loss is a loss!!!! I was also a former LAWL girl and lost a lot of weight on their program and then gained it back when they closed! This program is definitely doable -- I like the food as well! Keep posting here -- we can definitely keep this board alive!

I've been on JC since mid October. I'm down around 21 pounds. Especially around the holidays, I did not eat all JC. I'm really pleased with the results. Tonight I get a whole week of food free because I did the 12 week program incentive that they had for their clients. I had only signed up for the trial program. My problem in that now I have to decide whether I upgrade or not. It is pretty expensive if you sign up for the 6 months or year and then also have to pay for food! The plus side is that I have seen nice results so I know that the program works. I may just pay the $15/week plus food until I get my tax return and can pay for the year.

Hi everyone, congrats to everybody! I am Jenny and being a senior, I am losing weight at a slower pace. But, this is fine with me! I am losing!! :) I love the program very much and even if I have an occasional day of what I call 'slippage'! LOL!, it is so very easy to hop back on the program, because the food is very good, we are not starving ourselves and there really isn't anything that is forbidden on the program, if it is worked correctly. JMHO. So, to my fellow 'Jenny's", best of success is wished for everyone!

Good Morning Ladies!

Today is my 5th day on Jenny. I read back a few pages and listening you your successes makes me even more encouraged. I do my weigh-ins on Thursday afternoons, I am so excited to see how well I have done at my first one this week.

I agree with all of you, so far the food is delicious and satisfying. I love cooking, so I do miss that, but I also get to look forward to learning how to cook the MOMO.

I am on the internet a lot, so I plan on posting a lot... Sunny, I also have been on the JC boards, too. I haven't posted much, but I am jillybean653 over there. I didn't find it very active and all the triple-quadruple posting was just nutty.

Good Morning Sunny and Hokie,

I also post on JC website. I am finishing up week 7 and lost zippo last week! Very, very disappointed being that i didn't cheat, didn't eat out, NOTHING! I was originally put on 1500 calorie plan, but asked to be changed to the 1200 calorie plan. Even though I have a lot of weight to lose, I think because of my sluggish metabolism and the fact that I am post menopausal, I don't need as many calories. Good luck to both of you -- will look for you here and on the JC wesite!!

meows, I go to my first weigh in in two hours. I was put on the 1500 calorie plan, too... and I can already tell it hasn't worked because I also have a very sluggish metabolism due to my hypothyroidism. I wouldn't be surprised if I gained... oh my goodness, I haven't eaten this much food in a week ever, it is SO MUCH FOOD.

I want to ask to change to the 1200 plan, I think I would have much better success.

Don't be afraid to tell them to change you -- i can already feel a difference, although haven't stepped on the scale. I know my body and how it works -- I know I would never lose weight on the 1500 calorie menu!!! Let us know you you do with your weigh in-- good luck!!:carrot:

yeah, I only lost .6 pounds. I didn't cheat and I walked over 10,000 steps every day. Disappointing, but I asked to be put on the 1200 plan and they agreed. They told me if I got hungry, either eat an extra milk or fruit serving. I think this week will be much better.

I just can't get down about last week, this is a new week!

Hi everybody! Congrats "3Meows" on your weight loss. I am still 'potting' along. Sorry I didn't respond to everyone, as I don't usually post too much on this forum.
I post as "joan719" on Jenny.

As for the weight loss, I am long past menopause! I do have Grave's(thyroid) and after zapping my thyroid twice, I am in a hypothyroid state. I don't blame this as much as the fact that I began 'tweaking' the menu selections.

I realized that, unless we replace another item with the same nutritional stats as the item we don't care for, that we are throwing off our 1200 calories per day. So, this week, I have put together my 7 day menu, by looking at ALL the planned menus for Weeks 1 through 4, and selected my favorite days, as listed, without making any changes. More enjoyable to choose things you love and know that it is calculated to 1200 calories per day by the nutritionists. I will see what happens this week!

I hope that everyone is doing well, and certainly looking forward to Spring!;)
Sunny aka joan719

Hey everybody,

sorry, I was super busy last week and didn't get to post, but at my weigh in last Thursday I lost 5 pounds! Hooray for the 1200 plan!

I have only found one thing I don't like so far, tonight's cashew chicken. I ate all the chicken, cashews and snow peas out of it, but the rest I didn't like too much.

I went to a birthday party on Friday night, and it was very hard to resist the drinking, especially when somebody else is buying! But I did well and limited myself to two glasses of wine that my JCC and I worked into my week.

Today was so gorgeous out, my dog and I went on a 2 hour walk. I love having more energy... and it's only my 3rd week! Glad to hear everybody else is doing well, too!

Just started back on JC after 5 years-- I am 13 pounds heavier than my heaviest weight when I started 5 years ago. Today was my first full day- I did everything (menus wise) and even exercised.....I cried in the shower today because I feel defeated and that the fat will win. I am turning 40 in less than 90 days. Being fat is not the way I want to start the second half of my life. I know this works- well it worked 5 years ago ?? no reason it should not work now. I know I just need to be patient and follow the plan and try to exercise. crap.

How are you doing Venus? I know how you feel about letting the fat "win", but it doesn't have to be that way! Good luck this week!

I'm down another .8 - almost 35lbs since November and I'm thrilled! I'm going down to see my parents on Tuesday and I haven't seen them since November. I'm sure it will be stressful, but I just have to focus on the big picture. I don't want to gain, knowing that I'm just going to have to lose whatever I put on again...that's my focus!

Have a great week everyone!

Tuesday is my weigh in and I refuse to pull my own scale out and check. Besides- the JC scale is 8 lbs heavier than mine ? It's been awhile since I posted....I never quit JC but I have had some struggles.

I am FINALLY back on the right path. My counselor could tell I was losing ground and motivation and one evening I went in for my appointment and it was like an intervention *lol* I saw a different counselor that really kicked me in the rear, all in a good way, and got me refocused.

The thing she mentioned that really stuck with me is "YOU have to find what motivates YOU." My answer is I want to feel good about myself -- that has been my mantra since that appointment. She also encouraged me to start a food journal -- write down everything. When I journal all my food I am much more successful at the scale -- and it is not that I am sticking 100% on plan but that I can SEE if I have had too much and then cut back to balance the calories.

I am soon to be 45 and wish I was closer to goal weight -- it's has been 13 months and I have lost 27 lbs. with at least another 100 lbs. to go -- the good news I feel GREAT about the loss and confident I will not be gaining it back. I have bounced between 280 and 270 for months but tonight when I weighed in at 269 I knew in my heart I am done with the 270s.

This is such a difficult journey for me. I need to come here more often for the inspiration that permeates this board.

I am right there with you Stacy lee- I lost **1** pound last week. It was only my second week .....feeling discouraged. ALL I WANTED TO DO LAST WEEK WAS EAT. I really controlled myself and talked myself through it- and only lost one pound....I guess I live to fight another week. BUT GESSSHHHH pretty discouraged.

StacyLee
03-31-2010, 08:41 PM
I always look at weeks that I lose any amount as a victory because it beats a gain but it is hard to keep going. I think to myself "I sacrificed all week for 1 lousy pound?!! Not sure that was worth it

On the flip side, if I had a good loss I used to --embarrassed to type this -- swing by McDonald's or pick up a pizza as a reward! How messed up is that?!! And no wonder those last 10 lbs. would keep coming back like a bad penny.

I am still trying to figure out how to reward myself for a good week that doesn't involve stuffing something in my face.

It took my 5 years to gain all this weight so if it takes me a few to get rid of it so be it. I have a lot of bad habits and negative self talk to change. I am more interested in completely changing the way I live as opposed to just losing weight.

HokieLoki
04-01-2010, 07:23 PM
Hey everybody...

It's nice to see some new people here!

Stacy- there are several threads in different groups here that give ideas about rewards, anything from a new CD or iTunes, charm bracelets, clothes, hair dos, a trip to the spa (that's what I'm doing!), or even an afternoon off of work without the kids, just relax time... there's several ideas out there, so good luck! You can do it.

jleeson- welcome, and congratulations on that BIG loss! Stick with the plan, and you will be very pleased.

venus- those hungry days are the worst, I have done the craziest things to try and curb hunger, from taking shots of pure apple cider vinegar or tabasco to eating a whole bundle of celery. I find the thing that works the best for me is taking a walk or reading. I hope it gets easier for you.

I skipped checking in last week, but I lost 1.8 lbs, and at today's weigh in, I'm down 2.0 more. That gives me a total of 18 lbs in 6 weeks. I usually stay on plan 100%, but on Tuesday I screwed up pretty bad... I didn't EAT anything off plan, but I probably had 800 calories of vodka... my girlfriend talked me into going out and having ONE, and it turned into FOUR, and the bartender was pouring generously. Luckily I still lost this week, probably because I worked out like crazy, but I sure learned my lesson... one drink hardly ever really means one drink.

I am perfectly on track to meet my first goal, the first 10%. My cousin and I have booked a spa day for a reward. Mani, pedi, facial and full body Swedish massage.

HokieLoki - thanks :) I have my second weigh in today. I am hoping for a 2 pound loss! I worked pretty hard this week and avoided easter candy!

Easter was definitely hard. I had my own JC meal while everyone was stuffing their faces with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes etc.. I didn't eat any candy! It was definitely a challenge though. My fiance set up an easter egg hunt for me. He knows that I can't eat candy, but I love doing the hunt even though I am 22 haha. I gave him all the candy :)

We came home last Thursday and on Saturday, which is my regular weigh-in day, I only gained .6!! Needless to say, I was thrilled, it could have been so much worse!!

I got right back on plan this week and lost 3.4#s!! For a total of 37.2#s on JC :carrot: I'd like to be down to Onderland before my bday - May 29th... only 13.4 more ##s to go!

Poking my head in....
I recently started Jenny Craig! (March 26th, the at home program.) The price does hurt...but it's nice to not have to plan out my meals. I'm also much better at making sure I'm eating enough fruits and veggies.

I have a question though. When I first signed up, I talked to someone (I found out it was a program director) who was super bubbly and perky and I really loved her personality. I hung up the phone thinking "oh-my-gosh I hope she's my consultant. That will be great!"

Well, obviously she isn't my consultant. Mine is okay....but I'm not thrilled with her. I want to be excited to talk to my consultant each week, and I'm not. Should I try and get a new consultant? If I go that route, I'd rather do it now before I get too far into the program. Has anyone switched consultants before?

BethC
04-16-2010, 10:18 PM
I switched pretty early on. I did it because of scheduling, the consultant didn't work on Saturdays and I wanted to come in then. You are supposed to be able to request a new one, no questions asked. Talk to the manager, see what options you have.

:) I had another question....

Does the cost of food depend on what food you order?
My first order included the cost of my premium membership, so I knew it would be expensive. My second order was still really high though...and I wasn't expecting that. I know the vitamins cost less then the anytime bars (which I'm happy about, because I think the anytime bars are just "ok" and I had a hard time getting myself to eat them). So I was wondering if the same could be said about some of the meals. TIA!

Edit: I googled a bit and found an estimate (I think it was current as of last year). The center near me is closed today, so I couldn't go in (because apparently I should be able to go in and get a price list). :)

3Meows - Thank you! You keep it up too!

Quiet Ballerina- yes, different foods are priced differently. Overall, I think the frozen ones are a little higher than the shelf stable ones, but it should stabilize after a while. I pay around $75-$80/week.
Good luck with the program, it definately works!

Hi,

3 years ago I lost 105 lbs on my own. I managed to gain 60 of it back. I tried my diet at home plan and it's just not working this time. :( Im sick of chicken and broccoli and gaining 2 lbs when I KNOW i havent consumed more than I'm burning at the gym.

So I have an appointment in an hour at the local Jenny Craig. If Valerie can do it, so can I! lol

I hope to join in on this thread and share my weight loss with you. My husband and his mom are horrible eaters and not very supportive so I need a supportive place to come while I'm working through this.

Thanks!

Maureen

And I tell you it is a miracle....I had 5 bad days this week.

 I craved craved craved food.

It did not seem like an emotional issue either- I was actually physiologically craving food (not pregnant obviously).

Congrats to all the other big losers :carrot:

And I can't wait to be below 200 again- it seems HUGE but doable.

Have a good week everyone !

venusbirth - I lost 1.6 pounds this week and I didn't eat very well either. I was sick so I wasn't eating a lot of the JC food. I know I had way too much ice cream and other crap. I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale! I was expecting a gain for sure. But I know I can't get away with that every week, so no more ice cream!

I started JC at the end of march and I have lost 10 pounds so far! I am so glad I decided to join. The food is great and I always feel full! Only 40 more pounds to go! haha

well two weeks ago I took a mini vacation with my brother and some cousins... we went to the beach, and were so busy doing stuff all day long it was impossible to stay on Jenny. I ate fried foods, and drank dirty martinis... but also swam in the pool a lot and walked around almost all day long. I only lost .6 pounds that week, but the important part is I didn't gain. This week's weigh in totally made up for last week though, down 3.8 more pounds. I am officially in the 180s and I will NEVER see the 190s EVER again!

Hey everyone! I'm not sure who is still around from about this time last year, so i'll go ahead and re-introduce myself! My name is Nicole, I'm 21 years old. Last year, I was really unhappy with my weight, in around february (2009) I decided enough was enough, I joined Jenny Craig, and by June I had lost 50 pounds! It felt amazing! I was slowly being weaned off of jenny food and on to my own food for the rest of the summer. However, in august - i went away to school for the first time (since i had lived at home the first two years to save money) I found it really difficult to keep up with my routine at school. I didn't have my JC counselor with me, and i'm not sure if any of you have ever been in a college dining court... HORRENDOUS. anyway, long story short - since last august, I have gained about ten pounds back. I actually feel this is not too bad considering after working out five times a week and eating all jenny craig food... I just stopped eating JC and working out all together for an entire year. However, It's summer again and I'm back home. While i'm not proud that I gained this ten pounds back, i'm just glad i didn't gain more with the way i was eating at school... it was dining court food, gift cards to chipotle and 79 cent ramen noodle cups for me! (terrible!!!)

Anyway, I'm back to work for the summer, so next week after i get paid i'm going back to the JC center! i have around 4 months to get my body back! I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds by the end of the summer (The 10 i gained, and 10 more)

anyway just wanted to stop in because this thread really helped me stay motivated before! If you don't remember me from before or just weren't around then please introduce yourself!!

I've been doing Jenny for about 5 weeks and have lost 12 pounds (YAY!). My husband (who is basically a stick insect pocket person) is starting to complain about my not cooking as much and says that he feels like since we aren't eating the same things then we aren't really having dinner together.....I try to eat things similar to what my family is having but it doesn't always work out that way. He has been really supportive until about a week ago. Anyone have the same issue? What have you done about it?:?::?:

Hey chicks!

I am sipping on a splenda mint julep watching the Kentucky Derby preshow... I chose Sidney's Candy because I liked the name hours ago, and just found out he is owned by Jenny Craig!! Funny. He's a long shot, but I am cheering him on.

Hi! Poked my head in a couple of times already (thanks for answering my questions!) and I wanted to post again and officially introduce myself.

25 years old (oops, almost wrote 24! wishful thinking?), and recently joined JC. I joined at an awful time, because I've had to do a lot of traveling this summer so I've gone 'on my own' much much sooner then I was supposed to.
Just got back from a weekend wedding and...yeah, that wasn't a good go for me. But I'm back home and back on track. (Though I go out of town again on the 12th for another wedding. Sigh)

I started @ 161, and I'm at about 156 after this weekend. My goal (for now) is 121, but I may end up trying to lose more once I reach it. It's been a while since I was that tiny.

sounds yummy! would you mind sharing the recipe?

of course not! It was my splurge for the week, I just made regular mint juleps with Splenda instead of sugar, and made enough for 4 of us (2 each.) Here's the recipe i used:
Ingredients

* 2 cups water
* 2 cups granulated (measurable) splenda
* 1/2 cup roughly chopped fresh mint leaves
* 32 fluid ounces Kentucky bourbon (we used Jack Daniels)
* 8 sprigs fresh mint leaves for garnish

Directions

1. Combine water, sugar and chopped mint leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow syrup to cool, approximately 1 hour. Pour syrup through a strainer to remove mint leaves
2. Fill eight cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice and pour 4 ounces of bourbon and 1/4 cup mint syrup in each. (Proportions can be adjusted depending on each person's sweet tooth). Top each cup with a mint sprig.

HI! I'm working on my second week on the program ( I did it 3 years ago and lost 30lb). My first week I only lost 2.4lb! Im a little disappointed because I stayed on the program (except for one dinner which wasn't that bad) and went to gym 3 times to do an hr of cardio. I just expected a big fall the first week (last time I lost over 4 lb the first week).
Also, how do you keep your food cost down? First week was $133 with every meal/snack and this week I got a lot of non frozen foods hoping it would be cheaper...it was $100. I would like to get it about $70, any ideas? Did your counselors have any tips? Thanks

Hey all, on Thursday I had my 12th week's weigh in, and I am down 31.1 pounds! I am super proud, working out a lot!

Willow, my first week, I lost .6 pounds. Seriously. I was pretty upset, too... but it has worked out! My counselor asked if she could use my chart as an example for others who lose only a small amount their first week. I hope it's going well for you, now. unfortunately, I don't have any ideas about cost, I spend about 130 a week, plus my own groceries. I am using that as my incentive... since I spent all that money on food, I better put in the work to make it worth it and not eat anything else.

Hi all,

just started JC this week. Did it many many years ago and bought a lifetime membership way back when! glad they still honour it!... anyways after having two kids in the last three years - I'm finally ready to get rid of the excess babyweight! Had been doing WW for awhile but need something strickter! I forgot how much I like the JC food!! anyways the weeks been good - I always find the weekends at home tough... so we shall see....

anways hope everyone is doing well!

Hello hello...I have a lifetime membership too, but I quit like 3 or so years ago. It was just really hard balancing going to the consultations while I was in college and having to go home for the consultations cuz I didn't have a car so I had my dad drive an hour and a half or so to pick me up so as to go to the center and get my food and drive me back to school. Plus, it was just easier to indulge on the college student diet.

But now that I'm living back home, I plan on taking control of my weight, so I rejoined. Some of the food has gotten better. It's still kind of meh, but I'm adding veggies and the other free foods stuff to juz it up a bit. I don't know if I've lost anything since I started on Thursday and I haven't weighed myself since. So hopefully I made a little bit of progress, lol. :)

KEEP IT UP EVERYONE!! :)

Hey everyone... just popping my head in to say hello!

I've been on JC for almost a year now. I've lost about 45 pounds in that time. I'm starting to get a little sick of the food and have plateaued in the last month but I'm not giving up. I'm on summer vacation now (I'm a teacher) so I get to really focus on exercise and spend more time "volumizing" my meals creatively!

Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the boards, but not to Jenny. I joined last spring, lost 22lbs, surpassing my halfway point and then just stopped. Life got in the way I guess. Anyway, I put on some pounds so here I am back to Jenny. This time I promised myself I'd reach goal. I'm sad to see some of my favorite meals have bit the bullet :( but some of the new ones aren't too shabby. I've also started p90x. Today was the end of my second week! I'm in a wedding Labor Day Weekend, so I mean business this time around!

Hope everyone is enjoying the start to their summer!

Hey there everyone. I joined JC 2 months ago and I lost 28 pound so far. I like it alot and its a change from other diets I have been on since they basically give you 85% of the food you need to eat daily. Now heres my problem at the moment- of course my family is doing a big 4th of July barbeque. I dont want to feel left out not eating the same foods that they are. I figured that maybe I can healthify some foods that they are eating. I was thinking of a turkey buger that I can make and some healthy side. If anyone has some recipes for the side dishes or even of different spices I can use in the turkey burger it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Was wondering if we could share what we substitute in place of the Breakfast, Anytime Bar and the two snacks. Any suggestions keeping with the calorie count?

Hi all! I've been reading through this thread and I was just curious if I could get some info...I can't afford to join jenny (though I'd love to!) but I was wondering if there was a way to do a generic jenny craig? like could I use lean cuisine, smart ones, healthy choice etc meals instead? use them 3 x's a day and have fruit for snacks etc? would that even be remotely comparable to jenny? What kind of exercise does jenny craig encourage? a certain amount a day or something? anyway, any advice on doing a makeshift version of jenny craig would be welcome.. I'm so ready to lose some weight but I never have time to make home cooked meals with my 12 hour shifts at work so frozen meals would be perfect for me (and I like the taste of them anyway) but I wasn't sure about snacks and exercise and any other tidbits I would be missing from the real jenny program, thanks!

I was wondering something similar myself. Not only does the cost make me shy away...it makes me cringe to have to go in and talk to someone or to call someone and discuss my weight. @ least online you have some kind of anonymity. Anyone have any suggestions for someone w/ anxiety about actually having to discuss their weight?

LoveAlwaysK
08-20-2010, 10:00 PM
I did Jenny 2 years ago when I weighed 183, I lost 35lbs in 4 months. I didn't finish out the program because the cost no longer fit into my budget. So here I am 2 years later and 205lbs(my heaviest) and in the next couple of weeks ill be heading back to Jenny.

When I first started 2 years ago I felt really anxious about talking to someone about my weight and someone else seeing it, but it turned out to be my favorite day of the week when weigh in came around. The ladies are so friendly and my consultant was a former fatty herself and lost all her weight on Jenny, they make you feel so comfortable and not ashamed at all. They are there to help you and encourage you, that's what really helped me lose weight, I felt if the numbers on the scale didn't go down I would let my consultant down, but even when my weight only went down .3 she made me feel like I had just lost 20lbs. If you can afford it(yes it is pricey) I recommend Jenny. I also tried nutrisystem but the food is AWFUL compared to Jennys.

Wednesday will mark week 2 on JC. I really like my consultant... the first conversation she didn't even ask my weight. Just how much I wanted to lose. The next week we discussed how I felt the week went and to see if I lost weight. We talked about eating habits and how JC was helping. A little chat about work & pets. And, of course the food.

Hello everyone. I'm somewhat new to this board. i'm thinking of joining JC. I know its expensive and all, but i've tried just about every program out there and this seems to be the best fit. My only concern is that I am in sales so i'm on the road every day. Breakfast wouldn't be a problem, but depending on where I am or what customers I'm with, lunch and dinner could be an issue. Is this something the counselors work with you on. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Deb. I had my consultation yesterday and started Jenny today. The consultation is free so there would be no risk for you to go ask these questions. The program includes a dinning out guide so you know what to order if you have a meal at a restaurant. Also Jenny has salad dressing in little packs. My counselor suggested that whenever I went out to lunch I order a salad w/o dressing and bring a Jenny salad dressing with me.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide!

good morning Jenny ladies, and those thinking about Jenny!

I started Jenny in February, and lost 43.3 pounds in 19 weeks, and I wasn't perfect on plan all the time... when July came around, I took time off because I was just going to lake bbqs and wanting to drink with my friends. Now that school is back in and the lake is quieting down, it's time to get back to being serious again.

I was terrified to step back on my scale the other day, but I was actually one pound less than where I had left off... I guess my activity balanced out all the calories i was eating and drinking... so I am going to be good this weekend and then head back to Jenny on Tuesday.

to those of you who are thinking about Jenny, but the price is a deterrent, the basic formula for a day (I am on the 1200 calorie plan) is this:

*breakfast (calorie range in the low 100s to low 200s)
dairy serving (milk, yogurt)
fruit

*anytime bar (110 calories, protein bar, or dairy serving)

*lunch (calorie range in the lower to upper 200s)
salad with about 60 calories of low fat dressing

fruit

*dinner (calorie range in the upper 200s to upper 300s)
veggies

*snack (about 100 calories)

I have mixed up some of my days so each day doesn't equal up to exactly 1200 calories, but it all evens out for the week. It would be pretty easy to follow that plan, using your own foods. If you should be on a higher calorie plan, I think you're supposed to add another dairy serving, a "fat" serving... I don't remember, maybe somebody else here is on that plan and can fill in.

naenae- I have done my own breakfast and snacks a couple weeks... I bought a box of Cheerios and just had them every morning with skim milk and a fruit... any cereal will do, as long as you do the math to keep the calories to around 100-140 calories. for anytime bars, I have substituted string cheese, lean lunch meat, cottage cheese, some black beans with a dollop of ff sour cream... basically about 100 calories of a lean protein. snacks are everywhere, the 100 calorie packs of nabisco treats, skinny cow desserts, there are even 100 calorie packs of microwave popcorn... I have substituted a glass of wine for my snack before, too.

spryng- Jenny recommends that you get a pedometer and walk at least 10,000 steps a day... but really they just want to see that you were moving, really... I would go kayaking, swimming or do a couple hours of yardwork... doesn't add up the steps, but burns lots of calories and that worked great for me.

Nurse- I am sorry, I don't have any advice really... but like LoveAlways said... I will let you know that every JC Counselor I have talked to have been extremely nice and understanding... they know why you're there, they want to help... they also get to know your personality and get to know what kind of encouragement you individually need. :) good luck

DEB- how did it go?

whew, that was a lot. maybe I should become a JCC ;)

I was just thinking that Wednesday will be a year!:D

Hello to all,

I am starting JC next week on Monday because I will be out of town for the weekend but I did order my food today and it should arrive by Thursday. I previously had lost about 40lbs on WW but gained it back because I have no time to be counting points and organizing meals for the next day. Im currently doing my masters, working 40 hrs/week and doing my internship which is 20 hrs a week. I hardly have time to eat but I have made myself a promise that I will follow this plan since it does not require any cooking. I am going to find it a struggle to be active due to my time constraints but I will make an effort. My fiance is a gym freak and he doesnt understand why I cant find a little time to dedicate to the gym but he is also very supportive on any decision that I make and he will be my number one cheerleader through my weight loss journey. I hope I can also find the much needed support on this site since I am doing the JC program from home.

Have a great week,
Jennie

Wow 4 lbs is a great way to start. And as for this week even if you lose one pound it is well worth it because thats just one pound less that you have to worry about. A couple years ago I joined WW and lost a little over 40 lbs in about 6 mths and there were some weeks were I would lose 4 ounces or just stay the same weight and at first I would get upset but then I realized hey at least i didn't gain any back. Just keep your eye on the prize.

Good luck,
Jennie

I think I was just bloated from my period. That was really before I even started Jenny. I feel good though. I am so hungry today. I have been eating a ton of veggies to compensate. I hope they really are unlimited (if they are nonstarcy) cause I am eating A LOT.
I am also running a lot. I ran 6 miles today and yesterday which is twice the distance I thought I could run!
Awesome.

Good luck to you on your first week on Jenny Craig. Ive been so busy I forgot to check back in on Monday. My second week was a success I lost another 2 lbs. I am really nervous about thanksgiving but what I have decided to do is eat my breakfast from my jenny craig meals and then have lunch at my in-laws house which I will probably have a salad and some turkey. Then I will have dinner at my families home where I will also start off with a salad and have some turkey and I will probably just have half of a dessert. I hope I can keep myself on check and not give in to temptation. Good luck to all and Happy Thanksgiving : )

I have been a lurker on this forum for years but I don't think I have ever posted anything. I have about 30 pounds to lose and would like to hear the pros and cons of doing Jenny Craig. There is a JC office within a mile from where I work and the convenience of not planning out my meals appeals to me. I have no willpower or stopping sense when I eat so the pre-portioned meals appeals to me. I also have a co-worker that is going to start back on Jenny after the first. The only con that I have seen so far from this forum is the cost. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

hello! i am going to sign up for JC tomorrow and i was wondering if anyone could share pros and cons as well.

i am going to try the metabolic max program. I turn 28 in April and I am in my best friend's wedding on june 4th so i want to be significantly closer to my goal of 160 lbs by that time.

It is possible to be at goal and that would make me very happy.

I hope there are some other JC members to help with support. please show yourselves lol!

Hi, bjeweled!

I signed up for JC back in August, but recently recommitted after a 2 month break (due to travel/work/laziness). I found that without JC, I didn't have the willpower or really the time to maintain a steady weight loss, as I don't cook nor do I like eating the same thing every day. I was 'lucky' enough to have stayed the same weight. I attribute this success to my drive, but also to JC. The results I received from them really reinforced my desire to keep going. Anyway, enough about me.

The pros:
-Easy to follow, especially for those who are new to dieting, counting calories, etc.
-Weekly weigh in keeps you accountable. Trust me, nothing motivates you more to stay honest when you have a JC coach singing you praise when you lose weight!
-The food is pretty good (I only like the frozen foods, not the meals that you keep in the cupboard.)

Cons:
-Can get expensive!
-Obv. sometimes the JC food repertoire can get old, especially if you don't like eating the same thing.
-IMHO, not enough Asian food...I'm Asian though. I'm sure others will disagree with me!

As far as the metabolic max program, is that with the gowearfit?

I actually own a gwf (before the mm program) and I cannot recommend it enough. It's also a BIG reason why I've maintained my weight/lost a pound or 2 when I went on a JC break.

Something I have to say though is that JC allows you to have free foods and I don't allow myself that. I count everything that goes into my mouth (I'm a diet extremist, I'm told). My mother, on the other hand, doesn't (and she's been succesful). I think the best way (IMHO) is to count everything, so that you can fully take advantage of your GWF. With JC it's so easy to count calories even though it's technically not a part of your program because they're all listed. When you add those all up and then input that info on your gwf, you see the weight loss from the deficit. It's quite motivating!

On another note: the GWF does NOT have all the JC food in the system, but that's not a problem as you can add them. What is a problem is the fact that some of the calories for the JC food are off in the GWF. I'm a control freak, so I've noticed that. They're only usually off about 10-50 calories, but since I count everything...everything counts!

I hope I've been helpful. I know I kind of rambled a bit. Good luck with JC. I'm certain you'll be able to reach your goal :).

Hi I rejoined Jenny Craig this week and would love to chat with others who are on the program. I noticed the Jenny Craig message board is not too active, so I was hoping to find other users here. Its only day 2 for me so far, but so far so go. I ordered the bodymedia gadget, hopefully it will get here in a few days. Anyone else using this?

I started back on JC on 4/12/11. I had been on about 2 years ago and lost about 40 pounds. I started back on JC, because I'm a bit of a "rules follower"...I just follow the rules...too many options for me on WW.

Hey all! New to this thread and Jenny.... def not dieting or 3fc. =)

I am starting in the morning. I just could not handle the responsibility of some of my diets so the pre made food will be so great.

I get the arm band Tuesday. Has anyone used this? I wonder what someone that uses it thinks of it. If it is really helpful and that much more beneficial.

Tomorrow is day one of a 50lb weight loss process and like at the beginning of them all... I am excited <3

I just skipped here to the last page, so maybe this has already been covered. But how do you all JCers like the food? I am currently using another program, and the price is steadily going up. Some of the food I just can't eat and I end up throwing it out and wasting the money.

Thanks!

Probably like any diet, you start figuring out which items you like, and which you don't. There are only a couple items I really avoid, the majority of their items I've been fairly happy with, though after being on the program over a year, my week-to-week orders tend to look pretty similar, picking mostly favorites. :)

I started Jenny last week (lost 5lbs out of 60). The food is more expensive than I planned. Does anyone know a way to lower the cost? I've decided to eliminate the souperizers and snacks (I can pop 100 orville red...). Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey guys...I'm new to this website...I've been on Jenny Craig 4 weeks...lost 17.8 pounds...

I've been wondering...how the heck will I figure out what to eat when I get off their food.

I'm wondering if they ever cover that in the mini-counseling sessions. I love their swedish meatballs. So, when are they going to go over how to cook them at home so that they come out healthy!

I've been comparing the frozen entres to those sold by weight watchers at the grocery store...it seems that the breakfast items are very very similar in nutritional value.

You could save about $2 per breakfast entre by buying the ones at the grocery store.

That being said, I have not personally done this. I'm afraid if I starting breaking from the jenny program I will sabotage my weight loss. I'm doing good now...and am a firm believer if it ain't broke..don't fix it.

But, I was trying to think about...about life after jenny...and trying to decide how'd I'm maintain heatlhy eating.

I don't cook...and I'm not a big planner....I tend to wait til I"m really hungry..and then find the quickest food...ie. fast food.

Hi, everyone. I signed up for Jenny last Thursday, and started the next day, last Friday.

I have some specific concerns and questions because I am a vegetarian. Are there any other vegetarians doing Jenny here? I am thinking of doing a sort of modified JC on my own, due to the cost and the fact that the foods are so limited for vegetarians.

I posted a thread in the Vegetarian Chicks subforum here, and there have been views but no replies. I may have posted in the wrong place. If any of you would give me some information, I would greatly appreciate your time and insight.

1. What is a corporate VIP membership?

2. Do the counselors allow you to substiture?

3. Does anyone do Lifetime Fitness Team Weightloss and JC or modified JC?

Thank you.

Hi Everyone. I'm new to this board, but not new to JC. I lost about 20 pounds on it a couple of years ago. I now have 25 pounds to lose after the birth of my 2nd baby.
So far I have lost 50 on my own with calorie counting, but I have plateaued. I'm planning on joining JC again tomorrow.

I personally get really tired of the food very quickly. I'm not going to join long term but will do the whatever short term programs they may have, like the 20 pounds for $20. I'm just so desperate to lose these last pounds, I just can't seem to do it on my own with calorie counting.

If you haven't tried JC, I would do a short program like I did, in case you tire of the same foods easily.

Lettings: Sorry I don't have answers to your questions. My counselor in California did let me substitute some things, but I think I was required to purchase a certain number of lunches and dinners.

I have been on the Jenny Craig Program for about 3 weeks now. I have lost 8 pounts so far. I am using the armband and it has been very motivating. The food is good and I think they make it doable. I am glad I did it.

So I just joined again. Surprisingly enough, I am not sick of the food! I recognize some of the food still, but I am not burned out on it. It tastes better this time around.

I'm actually looking forward to my meals, and I like them =0) Yay!!!
So now to see if I lose some weight!

Photobuff: 8 pounds, Great!!! I hope I can lose like you =)

So far it has been pretty easy. I weighed this morning and if the scales are right, it looks like another pound! :)

I agree--the food is pretty good, but I have a question. With the armband you can look at what you eat and it graphs the protein, carbs and fat. It is aways about 2/3 carbs and the rest is a combo of fat and protein. Is this a good balance?

I am not very literate on nutrition....:^:

Hi guys. I'm ignorant as far as the arm band. I have never used it nor heard about it until you guys mentioned it. Sorry.

I did lose 3.5 pounds my first week. Not anything this last week though as I had to go out of state and was off plan.

Well, I did it! I signed up for a year and I have to say that it sounds pretty easy. I decided to wait and start on Monday. You know...always start a diet on Monday! Actually...I think I have a started a diet every Monday for the last 30 years!!! This is going to work...I am committed to it. The girl who did my consultation had lost 100 lbs in a year. That motivated me. I wish this site was more active. Maybe we can get it going...I need help to get this done. I would like to loose 35 lbs. :)

Hoping for a little extra loss this next week.

I joined 3 weeks ago and have only lost .2 TOTAL
Needless to say I am not too happy. I spend $130 a week for food, follow the program exact and I am having no luck. I have no medical problems because i just had complete check up and blood work done last month. I don't want to give up because everyone does so well, but I am sacrificing a bit to afford the food and if I am not seeing results, I will have to discontinue Jenny Craig because I am spending a lot of money that I should not even be spending but I am trying to take care of myself, you know? I do like the food tho!

Hey all, I'm considering joining JC, and was wondering if you guys think it's worth it? I've read so many positive things on this thread, but need some advice before I take the plunge!
I've been losing weight by myself, about 30lbs in two months, but if JC would speed things up even more that'd be splendid!
Thanks :)

I just started Jenny on three days ago. I have 60 pounds to lose, but lots of motivation at this point. I removed the scale from my house so I will only be weighing in at the center. I got the metabolic max plan with the body media armband and I LOVE it! Seeing on the daily data is really cool. Looking forward to weigh in next week.

Good luck to all of you JCers out there! :)

Lost 3 pounds my first week on Jenny! Feeling good about my progress. I am wearing the body media armband and LOVING it! It is great to see all the data on which workouts are more/less effective for me personally. I really like having the targets for steps taken, etc. set each day. Challenge!

I really do love Jenny and when I'm totally on plan, I feel great! I'm struggling a little right now, but I highly recommend doing it. Without my Jenny person, I would have gained everything back by now, she's very good at "talking me off the ledge" :)

Hi, am an Aussie who does JC and really want people to talk to about it. I'm on a different fitness site as well and I don't talk about it much as it's pretty much blasted. It's working for me and I love it! Even with the cost!

I originally started JC about two years ago. Lost 15kg but stopped because of 'cost' (could eat take out five times a week though!) I tried to tell myself I wasn't putting it back on but I felt beyond gross. Ended up cracking after my birthday in July and cried for a week over what a loser I was. I made a snap decision and went back to JC on the 21st of July this year. Stepped on the scale only to discover that not only had I put ALL the weight back on but I was 5kg heavier than I had been. Pretty much sobbed through my initial consultation, bought my food, went home and cried all night. Found a calorie tracker app as I don't journal (I don't stick with it, having it on my phone is so much easier and I've tracked every day since)

Not even six months later and I've now lost almost 25kg (around 54lbs) I feel AMAZING and I WILL get to my goal weight.

I'm planning on dieting till 90kg (which is around 200lbs I think?) with them and then I'll try and lose the last 20kg myself. I've just hit halfway and here once you hit that point you start doing two days by yourself. I'm going on hols next week so I'm not doing that till I get back.

When I went back I did make some changes. I don't eat their breakfast's (I usually get one breakfast wrap a week) and generally just do a ham and cheese toasted sandwich or cheese on toast. Not stopped me. I have Subway once a week (training, too difficult to take food that night) My big change has been water. Gone from drinking 3-4L of Pepxi Max to 2L of water a day. I truly believe that has helped me change.

What is this arm band you guys are talking about? We don't have that here.

the arm band is the body media fit, it's a device you wear on your upper arm that measures the calories you burn. You plug it into your computer and log your food and it tells you your calorie balance. It's pretty neat, and it helps. You can buy it on eBay or on the body media fit website.
