Hello ladies!! I thought we could start a new thread now since the other one has gotten sooooo long. :D

Hi! The other thread had gotten rather long! It'll be nice to have some others to talk about TTC with, the weight loss for me makes a huge difference in my ability to conceive, my body just stops working properly after I hit a certain weight. And I really don't want to be so big next time I'm pregnant...last time no one even noticed I was pregnant until I was like 7 months along!!

Hi everyone, I'm trying to lose my weight and control my diabetes to get pregnant again in 2010. I know the thread is for 2009 but if you don't mind I would like to join and learn more about other people experiences.

:)

I love that there is a thread for this. After recovering from a miscarriage in May 2007, we have been TTC for about a year now. Figure while I'm not getting anywhere in that department, I'm taking the opportunity to get as healthy as possible for when (and it will) it finally happens.

I'm finally back to the weight I was the first time we got prego, so hopefully...

Hi, just checking in. I mentioned in another thread that this is one of my top weight loss motivators.

I've been teetering back and forth on going back on B/C. I really would like to be at a healthy weight prior to conceiving, but I hated what being on the pill did to me. Husband wants me off it, but I really think that is because he's trying to put a bun in the oven ;).

Anyone else facing that decision?

Hello ladies. I am another one of you who wants to TTC. I weighed almost 260lbs and obviously was unhealthy. Now I am hovering around 200lbs. I want to be healthy for this pregnancy. That doesn't mean I have to be at my goal weight, if you know what I mean. There are people who are far more healthier than the skin and bones we may see.

Hi ladies!!

Renacer - Welcome!! Hey, with the length of time it takes me to conceive, it may be 2010 for me as well!! :)

niclyn - I am so sorry about your m/c..... Babydust to you!

April Showers - Part of me thinks that too, that I should just wait. But, I'm 31, and while I know that's not THAT old, I don't want to wait to conceive, when I know it takes me a while anyways...I'll keep getting healthy but we're letting whatever happens, happen. Actually maybe even a little more intrusive than that...I had a fertility doc appt yesterday.

Wormwood doll - Congrats on the 60lbs!! What a great accomplishment! I agree with you - I've always been a fairly "healthy" obese person...and I did enjoy a healthy pregnancy at 200+ pounds.

Well I had an appt with my fertility doc yesterday, and we've decided to take a "wait-and-see" approach for the next few months, checking on my ovulation each month to see if I am in fact ovulating right now. After 3 months I have another appointment, when we might decide to go on femara, which I took to conceive my DS.

I just had my son 5 months ago, but am looking to lose all of this weight so we can conceive again. We'd like to have a bunch of kids, so I need to get my behind moving! I was 210 when I got pg last time and gained 55 lbs (25+ while on complete bedrest for 8 weeks), and I would like to be lighter and healthier next time. We're not talking about TTC for about another year, but it will take me that long to lose back to my pre-pg weight (195 is the goal, lower would be better.)

I'm in!

Hi ladies...count me in too.

I just had my 3rd baby in Jan, but need to loose some baby weight still. I am also still breasfeeding so that is not helping since it seems like I want to eat all the time, but we are talking about ttc again by Sept/Oct time frame. My hubby is 45 and so we don't want to wait to long in between babies.

Gale02 - how are you doing? Exactly how many is a "bunch" of kids? I have 3 now (2 from my 1st marriage) and now Johnathon and my hubs wants another 3 at least - I just think that 6 kids is alot. He came from a family where he has 7 brothers and sisters. Ya, his mom had 8 kids in 10 years. He would be trying again already if I would let him, lol.

niclyn - your exactly right it will happen for you. It took me almost 2 years to get pregnant with my first son and now if i just think about it then it happens, lol. I am sending lots of baby dust your way!

sept15lija - I was over 200lbs with this last baby too and I felt like I just looked "chubby" until about 7 months. It also seems like every baby I have it seems harder and harder to get the weight off. Your little man is too cute - does he have red hair?

april showers - I agree with LandonsBaby I will never go back on the pill again. It made me gain weight and just feel "big". I don't really know how else to explain it, but it did not work well with my body at all. Have you been on it before and did it work out ok for you? If so then maybe it is the right birth control for you should you decide now is not the right time to ttc for you.

Good luck to you all on your ttc and weight loss goals!!

Gale02 - Congratulations on your son! I managed to gain 55lbs with my pregnancy as well - basically almost everything (except 20lbs) I had lost before I got pregnant! ARGH! I'd like a few more kids, but DH is adamant that the next one will be the last one. We'll see! ;)

lovinlife -Nope, he has brown hair and brown eyes, just like mom and dad! :) Maybe the orange shirt makes it look red! Congrats on baby #3! I'd love to lose weight and look like my sister did during her pregnancy...she gained 15lbs (she is 125 regularly) and just looked like she swallowed a basketball. Oh well probably ain't gonna happen!! :)

My cousin gained 11lbs. She just looked bloated.

lovinlife - I'm doing great! So glad I'm finally starting to lose this baby weight. How are you feeling? How's the little one doing?

My little guy has bright red hair - it's so much fun! DH and I can't figure out where it came from since I'm naturally a dark brunette and he's a dirty blonde, but we both love it. I'll go see if I can find a picture, it's too cute (I know I'm biased, but it really is. ;))

I don't know how many kids we want. I've got 5 siblings and I just loved growing up with lots of people around. DH only has 1 sibling and wishes he had more. I vacillate between wanting 5 or 6 kids and not having any more at all. It depends on the day. :) On the easy days, "bring it on, lets have a dozen!"... but on the hard days "no way, I'm done." Hehe... I'm sure we'll have at least a couple more though. DH would like at least 3. We'll see how things go! I'm trying not to think on it too hard right now and just focus on the one we've got. I'll know when the time is right for another one. :)

Here's a couple. You can see it best in the sunlight, but it's been too cold here for him to be out without a hat. You can see it at his temples a little bit in the picture with the hat on.

Today is a dangerous type of day for me...

Most days I think "Sure, we want more kids some day. Lets give it about a year and go from there." But, on days like today I just want to chuck it all and get pregnant again. I just want to be a baby machine, cranking them out one after another until we are done. I have so much fun with my little guy, I want 5 or 6 more just like him. I know my body isn't ready for another baby right now, and I'm pretty sure DH and I aren't either! Like I said, days like these are dangerous days... it's probably a good thing DH is working OT! ;)

Hi all! I'm new to this thread and thought that I would say a little bit about myself. I just got married on Nov 1, but we have been ttc since last June. However we found out in Jan that I have PCOS. I need to lose weight to be healthy, but also to help get my PCOS under control so I can have a bun in the oven soon.

Morning ladies...

Gale - your little man is so handsome! Johnathon has red hair too and I just love it. We are really hoping that he keeps it. I will try and get a pic on here of him. We are all doing really well except for this baby weight that keeps hanging on, lol. I too have days where I want another baby right now too. Part of me thinks why not just pop all of them out I want and then worry about the weight, but I know that I need to be healthy for each pregnancy.

Newlywed - welcome and congrats on getting married.

peaceful - 8/mo old triplets. Bless your heart woman! My baby and my sisters are 6 weeks apart and I watched them both one day. I was pulling my hair out by noon. I bet you sure are keeping busy. And you want more...maybe another set of triplets...

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Did anyone who has conceived used metformin? If so, how long did it take for you?

sept15lija
05-05-2009, 09:08 AM
Stephanie - I haven't tried metformin - it was mentioned to me by my doc but I never went on it, ended up just doing clomid for 3 cycles, then femara for 2 cycles, the second of which I conceived DS on. Hopefully someone else has more information for you!

Well I'm on day 31 of my cycle, lately my cycles have been 32-33 days, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. But of course I'm hoping and obsessing anyways. ;)

can I join ladies? Nice to meet everyone. We have been ttcing 3 years with unexplained infertility. So I am definatly looking foward to getting to know you ladies as well as make myself healthy again and not pitty myself. Oh also twoweekwait is a really great place for support for anyone ttcing

Welcome downtomygoal!

I also gained almost 25 lbs when DH and I decided to ttc. I figured "Ah, I'm going to gain weight anyway when I'm pg, why bother?" So I ate and ate and ate. Now I'm trying to lose that weight in addition to my pg weight, it's no fun! Good for you for realizing and stopping the trend, that's going to be great for you later.

Good luck!

Hi everyone, I would love to jump in! DH and I are going to start ttc in August so I really want to get my weight down. I actually lost all of my baby weight the first time and then I started to put on the extra 40lbs when DD was six months old. The stress of new mommy and going back to work was really hard on me. I have started working out again and counting calories. So I have about 4 months and I really need the motivation.

Well I am waiting...I am on day 34 of my cycle right now, in the past while my cycles have been 31-32 days, although I did have one 36 day one six months ago or so. So I've decided to at least wait until tomorrow to test. I am such a wimp about testing - I can't stand it!

Goodluck!!!! I to HATE taking a test, cause well for me I didn't have my period for 3 months, and so I got all excited and it ended up just being from my cysts. I have been feeling "weird" lately, so hopefully there is a baby inside of me and not just my upcoming TOM

Hello ladies!

I hope you dont mind me joining! I am losing weight partly so we can start TTC, hopefully a little later in the year. I want to get down to at least 260lbs before we start, though the less I weigh the better.

I have a son who is 19months old now.I weighed 279 when I got pregnant the first time and I developed gestational diabetes last time. Luckily it wasnt bad and I just had to watch what I ate. So I really want to try and avoid that this time.

Newlywed, hope the old witch didnt get you!

Hi everyone! I'd like to join in as well. My husband and I spent a few months TTC last year, but then got busy with buying a house and then I had knee problems, so we put it on hold. I was wanting to get started again this summer, but after much discussion we'd both like to lose weight before TTC. I'm about 275 right now and he's 298. We want our future kids to have the very best of us, so we're wanting to build a healthier life. I've on Weight Watchers since Sept and lost 35 pounds, but I need to step it up a bit. I'm 32 and my hubby is 46, so I'd like to get going on our baby dreams ASAP. I'm doubting we'll be TTC this year, but hopefully in 2010. I want to be closer to 180. My doctor put me on metformin, because she said I have PCOS. My TOM's were non-existant for awhile, but since losing the 35, they're just outta whack a bit. LOL. Best wishes to all of you!

Hi everyone! I'm new here. I am trying to lose some weight before trying for my second child. So I have a short term weight loss goal of 236lbs and a long term of 130lbs. I gained 40lbs with my first child so I'd like to try and lose that much before getting pregnant so that I end up at the same weight as I am now by the end of my pregnancy. I would love to lose even more but I'm just too excited to have another baby so I can't wait that long!:D Plus my hubby wasn't sure he even wanted another and I have finally gotten him to change his mind so I want to hurry up and get pregnant before he has cold feet!! lol So I thought I would come here to get some support and encouragement from women who are kind of in the same boat.

i wish i could say that i am going down but alas i am not i am up about 10 pounds since i last posted here. and to be honest when it does happen and i am preg again i am scared to death that i am really going to really gain out of control. but i am hoping that if i can take control now and make exercising a habit now it will be no problem then. eating right is not so much my issue it is how much and i know that some would say that that falls into eating right and maybe it does. but any way i hope that everyone else is doing fine.

I never thought Id find a post so perfect! Most people I talk to think Im crazy for wanting to lose weight in order to become pregnant, and Ive lost all patience for trying to explain it over and over again. But it looks like I wont have to do that here.

Ive been to the doctors and had all tests and bloodwork done, resulting in everything looking normal. The biggest problem I have is that AF seems to have gone MIA for 3 months now, making it pretty hard to TTC. Ive gained weight over the last few months (and I quit smoking which fueled weight gain) so Im thinking that may have played a part. I have an underactive thyroid as well, but Im on my meds religously and have my levels checked.

When it comes to TTC I know that losing even just a few lbs could make the biggest difference. So now I have the motivational factor and I think that if I start making it a habit now it will keep me healthier throughout a pregnancy and it will also help me stay on track to lose weight following.

Its wonderful to see Im not the only one in this particular situation!

Well ladies, I just found this thread. Not sure how active it is, but thought I would throw my story out there.

I turned 27 in July and had a complete freak out. I suddenly had the feeling that my life was going by way too fast and I needed to get into baby making mode ASAP. I wanted to lose some before we TTC because we will already be at a major disadvantage when the time comes. My DH had a vasectomy about 2 years before I met him, so now we have to pay a crazy amount of money to have it reversed. Since we have to go through so much with that, I wanted to be sure I was in tip top shape to maybe help the situation. Oh, did I mention my DH is 10 years older than me? Add one more to the pile of obstacles.

I'm hoping to schedule his surgery for December so that we can start trying in February. That is also when I hope to reach my goal. I'm crossing my fingers all goes well because I want to be a mother before I'm 30 (and DH is 40).

Thanks for listening and much babydust to you who are TTC.
