Ever since my most recent car accident last June where my car was t-boned, I think my back became maladjusted and I have a lot of pain there almost every night. :?:

I want to start working out besides walking and my back always seems to get me down. I think my weight isn't making my back much better either. Double-edged sword. Argh.

Any advice on what exercising I could do or how to strengthen my back maybe?

Thank you in advance. =)

Have you seen a doctor? You may want to look into physical therapy as you may have special needs due to your pain/previous issues.

I don't have insurance. And I only work a part-time job and full-time in college. So I was hoping maybe the pain wouldn't be as bad once I started to lose some weight and I wouldn't need to worry about seeing the doctor.

That's probably just me being stubborn. I was wondering what I could try and do because anything upper body that I try, within an hour I have pain in my back.

Definitely see a doctor, any exercise you do on your own or exercises we recommend could exacerbate/worsen your condition.

Were you able to see a doctor? Some areas/cities have clinics that take people on a sliding fee scale. If you have seen a doctor - were they able to determine what is bothering you? Has it gotten any better??

Also--if this upper back pain is the result of an auto accident, then normally the insurance of the person who hit you should be paying for any resulting doctor's bills. I don't know about your state, but in my state drivers are required to carry at least liability. Check and see, if your back is still hurting.

If you absolutely cannot see a doctor, there are stretches and such that you can do. Do a search for spine health and exercises. There are some competent resources available on the internet.

I went to physical therapy for nearly two years for a myriad of back problems. It helps, but for me, my problems are beyond physical therapy.

Have you tried biking(spin classes even)? Perhaps swimming? Most universities have both available. Both are no impact activities and pretty back friendly.
