My son got a VERY mild case of chickenpox when my daughter got it at age 4. He was about 5 months old. He got two (TWO!) spots! But then when he was about 2 or 3 years old, he got shingles. It was horrible--he had horrible, horrible huge spots all over half his head. I took him to the ER because I had NO IDEA what it was! He was put on Acyclivir as well as a bunch of other things and amazingly he didn't really suffer much. He did get some horrible scars though. One that deformed his eyelid (but now at age 14 it isn't too noticeable) and several in his hair, so as long as his hair is longish, you can't see them.

these are a contribution from my BF:val1:

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me,
'What setting do I use on the washing machine?'
'It depends,' I replied. 'What does it say on your shirt?'
He yelled back, ' University of Oklahoma ..'

And they say blondes are dumb...
-----------------------------------------------
A couple is lying in bed.
The man says,
'I am going to make you the happiest woman in the world.'
The woman replies,
'I'll miss you...'
-----------------------------------------------
'It's just too hot to wear clothes today,' Jack says as he stepped out of the shower, 'honey, what do you think the neighbors would think if I mowed the lawn like this?'
'Probably that I married you for your money,' she replied.
---------------------------------------------
Q: What do you call an intelligent, good looking, sensitive man?
A: A rumor
-----------------------------------------------
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man; Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods. Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death.
AMEN
-----------------------------------------------
Q: Why do little boys whine?
A: They are practicing to be men.
----------------------------------------------
Q: What does it mean when a man is in your bed gasping for breath and calling your name?
A: You did not hold the pillow down long enough
-----------------------------------------------
Q: How do you keep your husband from reading your e-mail?
A: Rename the mail folder 'Instruction Manual.'

It is too late in the year for snow. Don't you understand?!?! Tell Mother Nature to cut it out, Karen!

Gary~the festival is a little too far away for me to hear it, but there were fireworks last night (not from the festival--most likely from a country club having their year end bash).

Going golfing today to celebrate the warm, beautiful weather here.

Gary, are you sure you are only 55 ? Read my post again, 5 women for every man.....

OH! I not only read it...I totally UNDERSTOOD IT!

What guy, at 55, in his right mind would want to try and deal with 5 women at once?

Heck when I was younger....way younger....trying to date 3 at once (and yes they all knew I was dating others) was difficult enough. Especially when 2 of them had an older sister and those two older sisters were best friends ...so, no matter what I did or where I took one or the other of two of the gals they would find out...nothing big ever came of it but it did make it interesting...especially when all 3 showed up one night to watch me bowl...along with another one that had a crush on me...:dizzy:

fun...yep...but so much work!!!

air conditioning aka a climate controlled habitat for management in my world. or at least is what my husband called it when he would see management out on the shop floor at work. or in his more exacting words " who forgot to lock the doors on the climate controlled habitat."

We have A/C at work.
It has 2 settings: freezing or roasting.
It does its own thing, without any reference to what you set the (alleged) thermostat to.
We never know what it is going to be, so we tend to bring a rather interesting variety of clothing to cover all bases.
it basically sucks.

Karen, those foxes are awesome.
Are they reds or greys?

Karen31
04-20-2009, 02:36 PM
Mom is red but they look pretty dark. I don't know much about them, they may change as they get older. I've been watching them and they keep pusing each other off the "hump" of dirt outside their burrow. There are actually 5 babies----seems like a big litter to me.

INSTALLING HUSBAND 1.0

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance — particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0. and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.5 simply crashes the system. I’ve tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,
Desperate

Dear Desperate:

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Please enter the command: “http: I Thought You Loved Me.htm” and try to download Tears 6.2 and don’t forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.

If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

But remember, over use of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5 Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background, that will eventually seize control of all your system resources).

Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7

Good Luck,
Tech Support :))

You Know You're Getting Old When...

Everything that works hurts, and what doesn't hurt doesn't work.

You feel like the morning after, and you haven't been anywhere.

Your little black book only contains names ending in M.D.

Your children are beginning to look middle-aged.

Your mind makes contracts your body can't keep.

You look forward to a dull evening.

Your knees buckle and your belt won't.

Your back goes out more than you do.

You sink your teeth into a steak, and they stay there.

You know all the answers, but nobody asks the questions.

A guy is dating three women and cant decide which one to marry.

He gives each $1,000 to see how well they can manage money.

The first one spends $800 and puts $200 in the bank.

The second one spends $200 and puts $800 in the bank.

The third one puts the whole $1,000 in the bank.

Which one does he end up marrying?

The most beautiful one..

Old Man On A Bench An old man of ninety was sitting on a park bench crying.

A policeman noticed this and asked him why he was crying."Well," says the old fellow, "I just got married to a twenty-five year old woman. Every morning she makes me a wonderful breakfast, and we have then have fun together laughing and relaxing. In the afternoon she makes me a wonderful lunch and then we make fun together laughing and relaxing again. At dinner time she makes me a wonderful supper and then we relax more and enjoy ourselves."

The policeman looks at the old man and says, "You shouldnt be crying! You should be the happiest man in the world!"

Feel free to hang around a nonsense thread. It started out with a purpose; to celebrate those times one is the last to post on a thread - thus being the "thread killer." So the point was to be the person who posted the 500th post on this thread which causes it to be closed by the mod and thus you become the thread killer.

But, alas, the thread keeps getting resurrected by the "Goddess" who likes to blow things up.

A Beer Study

Yesterday, scientists for Health Canada suggested that, considering the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer, men should take a look at their beer consumption. The theory is that drinking beer makes men turn into women.

To test the theory, 100 men were fed 6 pints of beer each within a one hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the men gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became overly emotional, couldn't drive, failed to think rationally, argued over nothing, and refused to apologize when wrong.

No further testing is planned.

When mine were puppies I hated coming home after a rainy day 'cause I knew they would have not stayed in the garage, they would go out in the yard and PLAY!! They still like rain but don't stay in it...much.

Poor Karen! I understand. Our Yoga instructor was from Orange County, CA, and we thru just about every type of weather at him this weekend, including a little snow. I was in major weather shock.

Fortunately, EZ, he wasn't getting to crazy about the positions in the regular classes. It was just that we did 4 sessions in two days. But, I watched a bit of his own routine that he did with some of the more advanced folks and was like, "OMG, NO FREAKING WAY!!!"

Hello all:wave:

I met with the Doc this morning and he said no to surgery for right now. He thinks I am doing pretty good with the PT. Still can't exercise! :(

I am eating OP and still losing. (Probably some muscle)

Just have to let you in on a landmark that I hit. I am now in ONEderland!

I am going to try and check in here more often. I miss your wonderful humor!

mrsaugie
04-27-2009, 06:47 PM
hattie that is good news on the surgery and also awesome job on ONEderland. keep it up.

anyway another day down the drain. the only big thing that i got down was taking some stuff out of my garage to the side of the road for our towns spring large garbage pick up that we do every year. and i am sure there is more in there around all of my mom's junk that she still has not moved out of the house since we bought it in july. that is starting to drive me nuts is all of her stuff still here. but that is another topic and could take a while to discuss so i am leaving it at that.
