Red face My new routine

Since the addition of Baby Bella the collie my new routine has presented itself to me. Instead of only getting in one walk a day I get in multiple! And I had previously cut out my morning snack because I ate breakfast at 8:30 and lunch at 12... now? well see for yourself.

PREVIOUS ROUTINE:
up 8 am
breakfast 8:30
Lunch 12
walk to school and back 2-3
snack 3
dinner 6
snack 9
bed 1 or 2 am

NOW ROUTINE:
UP 6:30 AM
Breakfast 7:15
snack 10:00
Lunch 12
walk to school and back 2-3
snack 3
walk for 20 minutes at 5
dinner 6
walk for one hour 6:45-7:45
snack 9
walk for half hour 9:30-10
walk for 15 minutes 10:45-11
BED 11

having a puppy is more like having a BABY than I remembered... but I am getting in a WHOLE lot of exercise!!!

OH! And I was stressed last night. Kids being buttheads, pets fighting, cats screaming about the puppy. My hubby got home at 9:25 and I was AT THE DOOR leash in hand to go for a walk. I POWER walked with the puppy (she's great on a leash) for that whole half hour and just walked away my stress. That's all that I could think of for the hour before I went was how much I need to walk and de-stress. No treating, no urge to eat, no nothing. Just exercise.

le sigh.

I just needed to share. This might have been better as a blog entry but I thought you all might like it

Hey, with your new routine, you're actually getting more sleep too! (7.5 hrs vs 6).

Geez, if you weren't already melting like a snowman in July, you sure will now!

Gosh, I soooooo wish our new Basset Hound would walk on a leasch without pulling me down, yes, me as big as I am. He is SOO STRONG. I have a pit bull and a basset hound, and neither one of them will let me walk them. I feel like crying after walking them cause of the caos and constant pulling and just being little maniacs.

Hehe...dogs seem like the perfect motivator for exercise. Sounds like your new schedule is pretty good

Wow, you certainly are busy! I'm sure all that exercise will boost your weight loss in addition to giving you even more health benefits! I would consider getting a dog if I didn't already have a housefull of cats! I love them, but they are not so good for exercise motivation.

I had this problem with my dog and took him to a trainer. Now he walks like a champ. Here's a quick lesson.

1. Get rid of the coller and get a harness. You will have better control of the dog.

2. Don't use a retractable leash. Use a short leash.

3. Keep the dog on your right side holding the leash at a length that allows minimal slack. The loop should be around your left wrist, your right hand should be wrapped with the slack.

4. When the dog starts to pull, pull straight up on the leash and stop walking. Use a one word command. Stop! Don't start again till the dog is calm.

5. Put your leg in front of the dog and step off first telling the dog Come, go, what ever you want.

IT takes about a week of work, but if you are consistant you will see an improvement.

LOL. The 5am gym alarm goes off and both of my cats wiggle in a little bit closer and snuggle a bit tighter. I move the boy cat so I can get out of bed and he looks at me through barely opened eyes like, "Mom? Seriously? It's 5am and cold outside. Come on. The bed is warm and cozy. Let's sleep some more." The girl cat won't even give me the time of day before the sun comes up. Definitely not good exercise motivators!

I have 4 dogs, one little fuzzy rough coat jack russell, and three rotweiller mutts. They are huge and ungainly! They are all super sweet and friendly but very excitable. We had major issues whenever we tried to take the dogs somewhere, it was just utter chaos and we felt like we were being pulled apart. I actually got blisters from trying to hold them.

We got the training DVDs and collars from Don Sullivans The Perfect Dog. I swear after just two sessions they were like different dogs! I was afraid at first because I was unsure of the collars I didnt want anything to hurt them because they were not BAD just kind of excitable and we were outnumbered! Its actually really cool. I just googled his name after I saw the ad.

Just a thought!

I have a shish tzu who has really short bursts of energy and sleeps the whole day. She'll run around like crazy when she goes for walks but five minutes through she's panting and she wants to sleep! Haha!

lol yeah puppies remind me of human babies Hey you are getting more sleep though!

My youngest pup just turned a year old last weekend (I have 3 dogs, 3 cats, & lots of asst pets like turtles, snakes, fish, a bird etc...a zoo lol) & I wish I could take her for walks...she's a great dane and a great BIG spaz! I think I totally turned her off the leash when I tried to wash her a few weeks ago. OMG what a big chicken Now when she sees the leash she tries to hide behind my kids....hahaha

I have one dog and he is fat and old....I could never get him to walk that mush but i bet I could put a leash on a 3 year old and that might work Great job with the new routine i bet it will speed up your weight loss too.
