Default How did you pick your goal?

I have never weighed myself consistently, especially when I was happy with my shape/size. I picked 150 lbs because it is at a healthy BMI (and the thought of having to lose more than 60ish pounds is mind boggling) but I have no idea what 150 lbs will look like on my body. At 188 lbs I wear a size 10/12. I wore a size 14 at 212 lbs. I would like to wear a size 6/8 and figure 150 lbs will get me there. How did the rest of you chose your goal weights? For those of you who are closer to or at goal how does your current weight mesh with the goal you had when you started?

My goal has always been 130, but its really meaningless, I've never been that weight and don't know what it will be like. When I was 165 I wore a size 14/15 or sometimes a 11/12, now I'm in a 7/8. Honestly right now I'm thinking about ditching the scale and just going with how my clothes fit, it feels so arbitrary.

I don't have a goal weight, yet. My main goal is to get under 200lbs, and I am sooo antsy. I think that I will end up basing it on how I feel and how I look rather than a certain number.

I chose my goal (135-125) because it's pretty much smack dab in the middle of my healthy BMI weight. I'll see where to go from there, and if I want to lose more weight or not. But for now, it's 135. Plus that's what it says on my driver's license.

I picked my goal for now as the top of the healthy BMI. I've been obese since a child so just to be healthy would be an amazing feat for me. However, right now I consider that a target, once I get there I may adjust my goal weight down more, I just can't currently phathom what I would look like there so I don't know how much further into healthy I would want to go.

I wanted to first leave the obese category, then the overweight category. My goals went down from there. I have several serious health conditions in my family and want to be as far from those as I can possibly get and still be healthy.

Healthy for me is about 148 so I chose 150 to begin with. I couldn't tell you the last time I was there. Maybe 5th grade? Maybe earlier.

I felt good at 160 so 150 will feel great I'm sure. If I want to continue on I'll shoot for about 140. I don't think I want to go below that. I wouldn't look "right" I don't think. So for now it's between 140 and 150 for me!

I intially chose 150 pounds for myself because I always thought of it as some magical number....but then it didn't seem so realistic during any of many attempts at WL. So this time I chose 165 which seems way more attainable but since i am dong it the right way now it may be in my future after all. But for now I am sticking to 165!!!!

I chose 130 because that was a healthy weight for me. When I was in the 130's I wasn't super skinny... still had curves... but I looked and felt great.

I just picked 140/150 as a rough draft. I set mini goals along the way so I don't have to worry about 150 just yet. I'm sure I'll go lower, closer to a healthy BMI. But I'm going to feel it out and see what I feel good at.

I picked mine sort of like you did the first time... it just sounded about right. I remembered weighing 125 when I started high school and thinking I was huge, but I knew that was probably skewed by, well, being a teenager. So I picked 120 (I'm 5'2") and went for it.

Turns out it wasn't a bad guess. I eventually got to 120, and knew I could lose 10 more pounds or so if I really wanted to look my best, but I felt pretty healthy at 120.

This time around I've done more strength training and have a bit more muscle, so I'm picking 115. Again I don't know if it's realistic, but I'll re-evaluate when I get closer.

Well for me personally I picked my goal by remembering how much I weighed about 4 years ago when I first met my boyfriend. I was very proud of my fitness routine and body back then as well as my eating habits. I would love to lose the 30+ lbs that I have gained. I am currently as you can see 156lbs looking to TRY and get back to around 120+lbs.

I am motivated now and working out about 1hr each day 5 days a week and eating about 1200-1500 calories a day

Good luck to all!

My first goal was 180 but I've re-evaluated about every 10 lbs since then. I just entered "healthy bmi" territory at 173 lbs so I think I can safely go to 155 for now. But to answer your question, I picked 180 completely arbitrarily.

Mine is 140,or 135 (depends on how it goes) .
When I used to be about 130-140 those were definitely my confident days, and i just want to feel good about myself again. and i think being back at that weight would be a good start
