I have only made it cooked in water or chicken stock. Then I add ground turkey or cubed chicken and lots of veggies.
I am looking for other ways to make quinoa, including a breakfast type.
Any ideas?
I've never actually tried quinoa, but I love bulgar wheat. I know that they look quite similar, but can anyone tell me how they compare in terms of taste? Also, is quinoa quick to cook? One of the appeals of the bulgar wheat that I buy is that it cooks within minutes (a bit like couscous!). Sorry, I don't want to hijack your thread, but I'm really interested in trying it!
I made quinoa the other day--first diced and sauteed onion, then diced up carrots and cooked the quinoa---fabulous..one of my faves alongside fish.
Quinoa (pronounced Keen-wah) is absoutely fantastic in soooo many ways--I love the protein content, the lower carb content when compared to rice and the like and it's versatility.

I just finishing making quinoa with grilled chicken and a half of bag of stirfry veggies, zucchini and a can of petite diced tomatoes. I topped mine off with fat-free sour creme and my husbands with parmesean cheese.
He said "what is this stuff?" I told him its like rice but waaaay better for you. He didn't admit he liked it but he sure cleaned his plate!! Enough said!!
I use quinoa as a substitute for rice, grains, or sometimes pasta in a dish. My favorite is in Indian dishes. Since quinoa is a little more dense than rice, I tend to lessen the amount I use per serving.
For breakfast ... I've even thrown it in pancakes before, instead of rice or oatmeal. I've also eaten it warm with a little honey and milk on it for breakfast (bulgur is good that way, too).
