Hello ladies! I toured the hospital last night - that was interesting! They gave a lot of good tips on what you should pack in your labor and overnight bags. I feel a little better knowing the type of environment I will be in for the labor and delivery.

Welcome to the threads ScarlettDrawl and congrats!

hey everybody! i've been pretty quiet lately, but i have been keeping up with the posts. we have had a lot going on around here. my daughter has been sick, my husband's uncle passed away, i helped my cousin plan and pull off a surprise 60th birthday party for her mom, and work has just been plain crazy busy!

i was 15 weeks yesterday. next friday (the 10th) i have my next check up. i think at that visit we will schedule our "big" ultrasound. i was thinking about not finding out the sex, but now i am leaning towards finding out. my husband doesn't have an opinion outside of "whenever we find out it's a surprise". i guess he's right! i've been feeling pretty good, the morning sickness has subsided and right now nothing new has come about except for middle of the night bathroom trips and the occasional need for tums! i can handle both of those!

anyhow, hope all is going well for everybody else!

congratulations scarlett!!

Hey girls! I had my monthly checkup today. Everything is great with my little man. I scheduled my induction for August 31st. I'll be 39 weeks. :) I'm happy that I know when the baby will be here. :D

We picked out the crib bedding and bought it today. Now if I could just get DH to sit down and make a list of names that he likes. :)

Ok I'll check in later with ya'll.

Thanks for the welcome! I feel so far behind you all. I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow. I had horrible morning sickness with my first pregnancy and I feel like I'm just waiting for it to start up again. So far so good, though.

had another appointment yesterday. everything looks great with my little bean! i think this was the appointment where seeing the heartbeat and seeing the baby made me relax. i finally am comfortable saying that i am having a baby in september! that's a big hurdle to cross after my m/c last summer! we scheduled the detailed ultrasound for may 1. so, in three weeks i should know whether my little bean is a boy or girl!

congratulations meganbeth!

scarlett: i felt like that when i first came to this area of the forum (i started around 5 weeks), but time has flown by! i'm 16 weeks now!

Hello ladies..

I know it's been a while. Haven't got online much recently. Went to the doctor on the 9th. I'm 1 to 1 1/2 cm dilated and she said it could be any day now. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time haha. I pre-registered at the hospital the same day so I'm glad to have that all set!

jmb - So glad you made it past that point with the pregnancy, especially after you loss. Are you hoping for a boy or girl? DH and I didn't care either way - we just wanted a healthy baby :)

pixie - you are so close! At my last checkup on Thursday I was 2cm and "soft". I still think it will be at least another week or so though for me!

Good morning everyone! Just got back from vacation Saturday night, so I'm feeling relaxed! And chipper!
I think I'm suffering from sciatica though. Some days it's really hard for me to walk and some of the slightest movements hurt so bad. Something I'll definately mention to doc when I go this morning, but I'm not sure what can be done about it. I keep telling myself... Only 9 weeks left! Other than that, my tiredness and mood swings, I'm doing fine though!
Another ultrasound in 2 weeks to check on baby. I don't think I ever had this many ultrasounds with my 2 dds, but I guess they didn't find fluid on their kidneys either. I'm hoping that means this one is a boy. Read it's fairly common with boys and corrects itself before birth, so that's why I'm not panicky. And the amount has come down since u/s #1.

Welcome, wfonseca3017! Eating right is great! Don't worry about "feeling big" this week. I feel bigger and bigger every week, but remain at my pre-preg weight (lost 14 lbs due to morning sickness, and have slowly gained that back). Doc says that's fine, baby is growing perfectly. Good luck to you!

I can't wait to get to the point where you guys are, pixie and mod. I'm so anxious and ready! I suppose the weeks have flown by this fast... 9 weeks isn't much longer.

Hey everyone!
It's been awhile since I've been on. Things are going good. I am 19w1d! I have my 20 week appt in a week and my BIG u/s in 2 weeks!!! YAY!!! As of this morning, I have gained 3.8 lbs. I have been hitting the gym 3 times a week for about 45 to 60 mins on the treadmill, the other 2 days I walk 30 mins on my lunchbreak. I was getting horrible headaches after working out, so I had to up my water, food and sugar intake all day. So weird, but luckily, I have figured out how to make them stop!
I am still feeling exhausted, I never got that 2nd trimester energy boost that I looked forward to. Other than that, everything is going great. I have felt the little one moving a few times and can't wait to feel more! I also toured the birth center, to make sure it was where I wanted to give birth, so I didn't have to make changes at the last minute. I LOVED the place!
I just found out our health benefits are changing as of June 1, we get more details on Friday. Hopefully, the plan still has my dr, medical group and birth center or I will be very angry that I have to change more than halfway through my pregnancy!

6 days until I am officially halfway!!!! YAY!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Hi everyone!
I feel like I cannot get anything done these days. Second trimester is better but I'm still waiting for this energy boost everyone keeps talking about. I just moved and it has been the worst trying to unpack.:dizzy: Now I have to find a new OB and I guess figure out what hospital I want to deliver at. If anyone knows a doc/hospital/birth center/midwife that's good in the norther VA area, please let me know!

Hi wfonseca3017:wave: Sounds like your weight is on track but I know what you mean about feeling big. I'm about a week behind you and I look like I'm growing a fat squishy beer belly. I've only gained 4-5 lbs which is on track but I swear the scale is lying to me! I did find a preg weight calculator that tells you what your weight range should be, http://www.baby2see.com/pregnancy_weight_calculator.html

Well things are slowly progressing. I have been having more contractions and they have been painful lately. Only about once an hour, so no where near close enough together to go to the hospital.

I've finished up all my "big" tasks now at work and I think next week (my last week) will mostly just be the day to day stuff. I've passed off everything else already to other people. My last day of work is next Friday (when I turn 39 weeks) unless she decides to come before that.

I wonder if pixie had her little one yet?!

Welcome wfonseca3017!

julie - Make sure to update us on the ultrasound results! The last week or so feels like it has been SOOOOOO slow in going by. I'm betting the rest of the pregnancy is going to be that way with me too. I think its because she's considered term and now I know she could come at any time and its just a waiting game. I'm getting impatient

Misty - you better come back on here and tell us girl or boy ;) I was never really that tired during my first trimester (I know, lucky!). I hope you get a reprieve soon!

merryalta - my doc doesn't really care about weight. They do check it, but they won't say a word to you at that office unless you are not gaining enough or unless you are gaining so much that it could be harmful, like leading to gestational diabetes. I'm up 36 pounds as of yesterday. Apparently I lost 4 pounds between last week and yesterday, but yesterday was the first time I wore lounge pants to my appointment and not jeans.

Yep! Lilly was born on April 20th at 7lbs and 6ozs and 21 1/4 inches long. She has beautiful strawberry blonde hair! :)

Modkittn - should be almost time for you!! We kind of walked me around on the 17th and 18th. I noticed I was in labor on the 19th around 5:30pm. I didn't have her until 6am on the 20th. I stalled for three hours... they kept moving me around on different positions, but everything went well!

Congratulations Pixiefalls!! Welcome to the world, Lilly!

Modkitten, any reason why they don't let people go past 41 weeks? Most doctors have the induction mark at 42 weeks. It always made sense to me since your due date is estimated because no one can predict exactly when you ovulated... it's a 2 week swing either way. Just curious. :)

Hey everyone...
I am doing well. At my 20 week appointment last week, I had still only gained 2 pounds. Been walking for about an hour 3 or 4 times a week in the morning before work. On the days I miss, I walk 30 mins at work. I am also still tired, from the time I wake up till the time I go to sleep, I am exhausted. I have been eating well and drinking lots of water. No swelling yet, also the blood pressure has been great 98/68 at my last appointment! We find out the gender tomorrow! Afterwards we are heading to a dinner being thrown from both sets of parents, so we can tell everyone at the same time! I can't wait to find out!
Aside from that, we are moving. My poor bf is going to have to do a lot of it, since I am going to be 7 or 8 months pregnant when it happens. Oh well, we will just be glad to get into a new place, by ourselves. My 30th birthday is Thursday. Hopefully this baby gives the gift I want the most, to finally know the sex, so we can buy some stuff! Please baby please, cooperate. Also May 8th, my bf and I are taking a little 2 day trip into San Diego, to get away. It will be to celebrate my birthday and the baby. It's something we need to do before the baby comes and everything changes. I can't wait. We are staying at a really nice hotel, going to dinner, lying on the beach, doing touristy things and relaxing! I am taking a 4 day weekend, so I can relax when we get back too. I can't wait! I'll be back Weds to report on the sex...I am SO excited!
I hope everyone is doing well!

Misty you better let us know the gender! San Diego sounds like fun. DH and I are planning a weekend trip to Vermont in July or August, whenever we feel like the little girl is ready. We go there a couple of times a year and I've been dying to go for a couple of months now!

Congratulations pixiefalls! Lilly is a beautiful name.

Good Luck modkittn! Hopefully your baby girl will come sooner than later.

blueyedlvrgirl - How exciting! I hope I get to find out the sex of mine next week but I have a feeling it will be too early. I'll probably have to wait a month.

I experienced swelling feet for the first time this weekend while traveling. I thought I would be one of the lucky ones but I guess sudden heat and a long car ride will do it. :dizzy:

sounds like everybody is doing well. things here have been pretty uneventful. which is the way i like it! although the warm weather the last few days has made me realize it's going to be a miserable summer! my daughter was born in june so i only had to go a little bit into the warm months, this time i have to make it to the end of all of them!

we go to the doctor on friday for our "big" ultrasound. baby cooperating we will find out if reagan is going to have a brother or a sister!

Right before I went in for my ultrasounds my Dr suggested I drink 6-8 oz of 100% juice. It puts the baby on a bit of a sugar rush and they tend to move around a lot more, making it easier to see their parts. I wouldn't do it more than about 30 minutes before your appointment or else baby will get hyper then go to sleep! You don't want them sleeping during an ultrasound, then the parts are harder to see. At least that was the case with me. When little man was bouncing around and active it was easy to see his stuff, when he was sleeping he was really relaxed with his legs together so we couldn't see much.

Just a suggestion! I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but there's also no harm in trying as long as you're drinking 100% juice.

I hope all of the babies cooperate and you can find out the gender!

So, we went for our u/s yesterday. Baby is healthy. Everything looked good. We were told it's going to be a tall one, already has long arms and legs. Also weighed in at exactly a pound! Baby measured exactly to the due date, all measurements looked good. We are SO relieved to know that everything is growing healthy! Also, the baby definitely showed the goods! Daddy was right! There was definitely a hot dog, no hamburger! We are definitely having a BOY! I initially thought it was a boy, but all of my family said girl and I got swayed. Daddy is THRILLED. I am too. Since this is our first, we were hoping for a boy, so the rest of the kids can have a big brother to look up to. Also, I have heard boys are easier, I am SO down with starting with the easier of the 2 genders.
So good news all around...we got our boy and got the all clear that everything is healthy and growing right on schedule! YAY! Thank God!

That's GREAT news, blueyedlvrgirl!! The best part of my ultrasounds was hearing the words "everything looks normal." And, yay for boys! I love my little guy, he's tons of fun and such a little bundle of energy. I also loved growing up with older brothers, it was awesome.

Mine never popped with my first DS I'm kinda hoping ti does this time around!

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday and it went well. A friend of mine had told me that the MW we were going to was a "cold impersonal b**ch" so I was a bit worried. She was in fact quite the opposite! We really liked her and she made us feel very at home. She's got a huge jungle gym for older kids to play on and the birthing center over looks a beautiful lake. Literally 5 steps out the doors to the water . I'm really hoping that this birth will be much better than my last and I'm thinking that by going to a birthing center instead of a hospital it will be!

Our next appointment is May 26th and we'll get to have our first ultrasound then too!

Had my last (as far as I know) ultrasound Tuesday at 33 weeks.

Now I know why I feel so huge! This baby is already over 5 lbs according to measurements. Gone to term, I'll be having an over 8 pounder. I'm really hoping their measurements were off a little lol. My daughters were only 6 lb 2 oz and 6 lb 14 oz. But I guess, when you're in the throes of labor, what's an extra 2 lbs? Maybe I don't wanna know lol.

The fluid on the baby's kidneys remains stable. Hasn't gone up, hasn't come down, and they're not worried about it. So neither am I.

Tomorrow I'll be 34 weeks... 6 weeks left! I can't wait!

Thanks gals!

Modkittn- I tried to have my MW induce me a day after I was due lol but she wanted me to wait which I'm glad I did.. it was only a day later. I'm not sure how long they let you go until up here. I've had a couple people mention to me that their doctor's let them go until 43 weeks.. I was a bit surprised.

Congrats blueyedlvrgirl! My Fiance's mother kept trying to tell me I was going to have a boy. I knew she was going to be a girl. I just had a feeling.. :)

My belly button never popped either. I'm already 6 pounds less than the weight I was when I became pregnant so I'm very happy about that! Took Lilly to a check-up on Monday and she was an ounce away from 8 pounds. Her appetite seems to be getting bigger the past couple days aswell.

Well I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital last night. Contractions got to 6-7 minutes apart after about 6-7 hours, and then an hour later they just completely stopped. Boo :( I was hoping to have a baby by today!

pixie - They ended up scheduling the induction for Friday, exactly the 41 week mark. My doc said she didn't want to do it sooner and have me end up with a c-section. I hope she comes on her own before that though!

Yay for boys!! Congratulations jmb1981!

Modkitten, my cousins and I were talking just the other day about what worked for us to put us into labor. My one cousin said that she ate mexican food a week before she delivered and that seemed to do it. My other cousin said that she drank orange juice the day she delivered and that must have done it. And as for me, I was on complete bedrest for 8 weeks before I delivered and that did it for me. I think it's different for everyone. ;)

Hehe... don't worry. Your little joy will be here before you know it!

Modkitten-

Being induced isn't ideal, but it's not that bad. One way or another you're going to end up with a beautiful baby girl, right? I agonized over having to be induced and in the end it just didn't matter. My son was perfect, and that's what's important, not whether I had pit or an epidural. It all works out in the end. :)

modkittn
05-07-2009, 01:02 PM
The ONLY thing I worry about with the induction is that there is a higher risk of having a c-section. I don't really care too much about being induced, although obviously I would have preferred her to come on her own. The doc's office should be calling me this afternoon with a time to be at the hospital tomorrow!

welcome sept15! how neat to get a positive test on mother's day!!

i've been feeling the baby moving more and more. such a neat feeling! i've been getting all of my daughter's clothes ready for a garage sale since this one is a boy. that's an emotional job! i just can't believe how quickly she is growing up (and she's only going to be 3 in june)! where does the time go?

i need some advice too from all of you who understand being heavy when you get pregnant. my doctor only want(ed) me to gain 15lbs total. as of yesterday i had already hit 18. given, i haven't always been the best at making sure i am eating the healthiest, but i have been trying harder. i also stopped exercising until i got to the second trimester because of last summer's miscarriage. but i started back up and have been doing about 2 miles of walking 3-5 times a week and sometimes i throw in a pregnancy workout dvd. what are all of you doing to make sure that you aren't gaining excessive weight? what do your exercise routines look like?
