It figures that just as soon as I get a good routine going and lose that pesky first 30 lbs, I go and get preggo. We are surprised, but thrilled! My weight loss will have to wait until after baby #2 arrives, but then I'll be back! Here's hoping for a happy and healthy 9 months :crossed:

That is awesome and exciting! Just so you know though it's TOTALLY okay to lose weight when pregnant when you are overweight. Make sure you are getting in lots of good healthy foods and keeping your calories up a bit and you can lose weight almost the whole time. Good luck!!!

Congrats! Hey, just to let you know.....Ask your doctor about weight loss/gain during pregnancy. When I had my daughter I was 280 and the doctor said I could gain 10 pounds and that was it!......and I gained 8 pounds, and that was it! Three weeks after I had her I was at 268. That was the best advice my doctor could have given me. I continued my healthy way of eating and 'building a baby' was burning fat! Of course after that I continued to gain, but at least I loss while I was pregnant. I had my baby at 35.5 weeks, just like my previous baby. She was 5 pounds, and would have been 7+ if carried full term....preterm had nothing to do with nutrition, my body (blood pressure and lung capacity) does not tolerate the 6 weeks of pregnancy well at all.
Good luck!

Thanks everyone! At first I was bummed about the weight loss aspect, since I'd finally embraced the new lifestyle it was going to take to get my weight under control. Then I realized, like many of you said, that I just need to keep it up. It is a lifelong change anyway, right? So I plan to keep eating all the healthy, yummy foods I've been eating (whaddya know...vegetables are my friends!) and keep exercising. I just won't restrict my calories as much as I have been. I know I can have a healthy pregnancy. My pregnancy with my son was pretty rough. I had horrible morning sickness during the first 5-6 months. That, coupled with an emergency abdominal surgery at 15 weeks led to me plummeting from 346lbs when I found out that I was pregnant to 315! Then as I began to heal and stopped being sick, I began to enjoy my pregnancy a little too much. Poor DH was running to and fro from Taco Bell to Steak and Shake doing my bidding, lol. Needless to say, I gained it all back by then end of the pregnancy. I plan to discuss with my doctor (who's awesome!) about my weight and controlling it during this pregnancy. Again, thanks for all the well wishes, friends! I'm sure I'll be lurking about here in the meantime living vicariously through all of your victories!

Congrats!!! Not just on the baby but for making the right decisions about your health!!Just keep exercising and eating right, some people lose weight when pregnant and it's perfectly healthy!!! I used my pregnancy as "I can eat whatever I want now!!" hahah boy was I wrong, I gained 55lbs! Just remember if you keep up your healthy lifestlye you wont gain as much as if you went all out. It's easy to gain but hard to lose. I wish you all the luck!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS! How wonderful!!!!
I just had our last baby 8 months ago and I can tell you that I was careful what I ate that last time. I lost weight during the first trimester and some the second; safely! Towards the middle of the second, I maintained mostly and was careful how much I gained from that point on. I was about 255 pounds when I got pregnant and only gained about 18 pounds the whole pregnancy.
I know 18 still sounds like a lot, but our son weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces so over HALF that weight was him. As you can see, me not gaining a lot weight had NO effect on him. I actually weighted less after he was born then when I got pregnant!
Of course, I blew that loss during the first few months after he was born.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I think you have the right idea about what you need to do to have a healthy baby, and not gain weight with your pregnancy. If I could do my pregnancies over again, I would eat totally different. I gained 80 lbs with my 1st child! I ate junk, and fast food galore! My poor babies were born having all that crappy food in their systems :( poor babies.
:goodluck: and :congrat:
wishing you a wonderful pregnancy:preg:
