Default 12 Pounds Gone

I started counting calories on March 1st and I started seriously counting them on March 3rd. I've been fortunate enough to lose 12 lbs since then and I can wear some jeans that I haven't been able to get into in about a year. I'm pretty happy about that.

I feel better and I have a bit more energy. This counting calories thing has been the easiest "diet" I have ever done, I quote diet because I really don't look at it like a diet at all. This is something that I know for sure that I can do long term. I admit that sometimes I don't eat the best kinds of foods, but what is important to me so far is I have been able to eat within my allotted calorie limit every day.

I do plan on cleaning up my diet with more wholesome foods but I'm not going to do it over night. I plan on changing things a little bit at a time so it doesn't seem like such a shock. One of the ways I have failed in the past is changing the way that I eat so drastically that I feel like I'm being deprived. When I start feeling deprived I start having bad thoughts that sabotage my plan. I really have not changed much about the way that I used to eat with the exceptions of... I try not to overeat anymore, I try not to eat at fast food places, except for a couple of places. I did start eating more vegetables and whole grains and I try to make better choices.

Congrats. I just started doing calorie counting so your story motivates the heck out of me. I don't really feel like its dieting either. I've started using daily plate and it makes it so much easier and actually kind of fun. I know that I'm not choosing the best foods either, but I have a goal to get my protein up, so that helps me make better choices and really think about it.

Nice job. It's great having so much come off in such a little time to keep you wanting to go more.

WOOT! I'm currently down 12 too! 3 more and I get another penguin in my army. I haven't even bothered trying older pants yet. I am just wearing the pants I have been wearing till they start falling off. Then guess I'll move down to older ones.

Go to the veggie hater board for good tips on adding in veggies painlessly. I am not a huge fan and neither is my DH but I have found you can chop veggies really fine or something like fresh chopped baby spinach almost disappears when cooked into sauces, egg scrambles and soups. My DH despises spinach, but I put just a little in almost everything and call it 'fresh herbs'. I figure it adds up!
