OK, who's going to be first this morning? I see Ruth and Cyndi are lurking out there!

 I was snooping around the Net and sipping coffee. I know how much you like being first so gave you the chance!

Another sunny but cold day is happening. Although the temp is well below freezing, the snow IS disappearing. The skating rink in the yard is still pretty solid. I'm not looking forward to the lake that will be there when the thaw hits on the weekend. Right now I'm crossing my fingers that the culvert is open and the water will whoosh away as it thaws. (In 1929 there was a stream running through my yard and Mother Nature still thinks it's there.)

Jazz and I do Pet Therapy this morning (coffee with the clients) and early this afternoon Jazz and I go to the nursing home with two observers to do the next step in her official qualification as a therapy dog. It's a bit silly as she has been visiting since last June but rules are rules. I'm sure she'll be fine.

You'll be pleased to know I finally vacuumed the downstairs rugs. I think it's time to get a new vacuum cleaner. Mine is a Sears from 1980 so I may be due. Whaddaya think?

Time for coffee and breakfast. Happy Hump Day!

I was cooking not lurking ;) It's ridiculously cold for March and I'm not looking forward to going outside. At least it will warm up a bit after today.

Apparently fear of Rikki is a great plan, the scale was kind to me this morning ;) I'm a daily weigher so will see what the next two days bring but it was nice to see it back in the 130s.

Just a normal day around here. The most interesting thing will be starting to plan our garden recruitment and training. I love thinking about gardening :)

What's carrying you through this hump day?

ETA - Good morning Ruth! So were those actually rugs downstairs or just piles of dog hair ;)

Good morning all! There's not many in yet, so I can still jump in and do personals...

Cottage - when is it going to warm up for us??!!

Ruth - Good luck with Jazz!! That's very cool. I'd like to do that eventually. And with the vacuum...they certainly don't make them like they used to...they're a POS now!! They'd never last that long these days.

Cyndi - Glad the scale was kind to you, and that today is calm. May you enjoy!

Me - Short day at work. We've been really slow the past couple weeks....makes me SO unmotivated. I'm trying to think of things that NEED packing, but there's not much (we're only moving a mile...we'll just make a trip every night with more stuff). I do need to call utilities today and make sure everything goes through for that. Otherwise, I hope to get a run in today...I would bet inside!! Too cold...it's 12 degrees right now!

Have a great day!

Good morning chicks, my friend is having her cancer surgery today, so my mind is very much on that. She'll have her kidney and spleen removed and then I guess they'll have a better idea of the extent of things.

Twynn, have you been slow because people are cutting corners and not taking their animals to the vet? That would be a sad thing.
Good morning Cyndi, Ruth, and cottage. Congrats on the scale victory Cyndi!

Good Morning Ladies- Today is my monday- which is never any fun... not that I hope to be slow at work but I would really like to have a chance to get my roots touched up and my nails done :P working in a spa we don't usually get much time for ourselves and its been a while!!!

Ruth- Enjoy your therapy time! and I think if you are ready for a vacuum a dyson is the way to go- I don't think I will ever own anything else!!!

Cyndi-:woohoo:and i'll be watching!:club: lmao...

Twynn- its so much easier when you are moving close! have a good day!

Schmoodle- will pray for you and your friend!

SO, for me work is on the agenda- since I have mainly been walking at the gym I am going to try to hit the treadmill on my lunch break today-or walk around the hotel, we'll see! I better get off and running! going in a bit later causes me to leave a bit earlier because of traffic!

Good Morning!

Ruth, I'd venture to say you don't remember the stream running through your yard in 1929? If so, you are the BEST looking 90 year old woman I've ever seen! :) BTW, I love my Orick.

Cyndi, Have fun thinking about gardening. We have our spot tilled. Just waiting for warm weather.

Twynn, You never told us about the snake. How did that go?

Schmoodle, Your friend is in my thoughts and prayers today.

Me: My favorite... I have a dentist appointment today. I chipped the corner of a back tooth. No pain, but food is getting stuck between the teeth. He's going to put a new filling in it. Where's the laughing gas??? :)

I've lost one of the five pounds I gained in Louisiana. Hooray!

Hope your days is fabulous and warm! :D

 Hi, chicks!

Just a quick pass through--I got to reading Pearls Before Swine on Comics.com and lost track of time! :o

Oh, dude, Ruth! You totally have to get a new vacuum cleaner, though I'm shocked that a Sears appliance has lasted nearly 30 years! :faint: That's awesome! I highly recommend Dyson. I love mine and actually just used it last night. :cloud9: Good luck to Jazz today!

Schmoodle, I hope things go very, very well with your friend and that what they find (if anything) is easily fixable.

Love the snake comment, Schmoodle! :s: Too funny...

Me:
Had a good weigh-in yesterday. :D I went to yoga, which really made me feel good. Today is work, gym, home for a quick dinner, then off to Adult Faith Formation. We're learning about St. Paul--not one of my favorites--and I'm hoping to develop a better appreciation for him. :crossed:

Have a great day, chicks! :sunny:

I'm cleaning my house today, top to bottom. At least the first floor. Will probably have to do the second floor tomorrow.

I'm down to my last pack of cigarettes. Quit Day is right around the corner. The Chantix has been bothering me something fierce.

Jumped on the scale this morning and was down two whole pounds. Who would've thought? Tomorrow, it'll probably be up five.

I went to the supermarket last night and got my groceries. Planning the menu and pulling the shopping list off that makes it so easy! But I couldn't find sugar free salad dressing anywhere. So I'll just keep making my own.

DH will be back from his business trip Friday morning. I've enjoyed my alone time very much, but I won't tell him. ;)

Still fighting this headache. It's been four or five days now and it won't go away. Haven't had a drop of alcohol and I know it's because of that. When you go from four to five glasses of wine a day to zero, your body is gonna notice.

Chelby, congratulations on your loss. (That reads weird, doesn't it?) Louisiana is much like Girl Scout cookies!

Rikki, I'm jealous! Enjoy your time!

Ruth, you don't owe that vacuum cleaner a dime. I think it's okay to say goodbye now. When you get your new one, you'll be amazed at how little the old one was picking up.

Twynn, enjoy your run. If you can find ice-free roads to run on, and if you have good winter gear, I'd say run outdoors if you're only doing a couple of miles. Winter is absolutely GORGEOUS and nothing like a run outdoors to make you appreciate it. Don't forget your sunglasses.

Have a good day, ladies. (Any gents here?)

Good morning, everyone!

Hi, Cottage! I hope you have a great day!

Ruth: I can't believe your vacuum is 29 years old! It's older than me! I wish I could find a vacuum that would last that long. We end up replacing ours about every 18 months because of the dogs. Ours right now is on its last leg. I hope you and Jazz have a great visit!

Cyndi: Isn't the fear of Rikki something? Just thinking of her butt kicking kept me away from the chocolate cake and ice cream! I hope you have a wonderful day! Stay warm! I'm glad the scale is moving for you again...I knew it wouldn't take long. :)

Twynn:  "The snake was a no show!" I wish my no-shows were that exciting! We had a move like that once. It was so nice to take my time and be able to get things put away. We were able to move the big stuff on move-in day and just start living! It was great!

Rikki: Thanks for your tough love yesterday! I thought about you while the cake was going around and passed. I hope you have a great day and have time for some beautification (not that you really need it!)

Schmoodle: My thoughts and prayers are with your friend and all her loved ones, including you.

Chelby: Sorry about your tooth and I hope the procedure is quick and painless.

Laurie: I hope you have a wonderful day! I'm so happy that you called Ruth "dude". I don't know why. It just made me giggle!

Diva: Quitting smoking was one of the hardest things I've had to do, but it was SO worth it! I'm sure you'll see the benefits of doing so right away! Let us know when the quit starts so we can send our happy thoughts your way.

Stacy: I hope you get to feeling better quickly! Get lots of rest!

Me: Not much here. DH and I woke up late this morning, of course, so it was breakfast on the run. At least that means there are no dishes to do when I get home tonight.

We've had a rough 24 hours in our county. About 600 acres in a "subdivision" south of town have burned with 13+ residences having to be evacuated. None of the lots there are under 20 acres and there's no natural barrier, so the flames are just spreading and spreading. Our small volunteer fire department is struggling to get things under control, so reinforcements will be coming in, but the good ones are 3 hours out. I haven't heard anything lately, but it sounds like the residences that were in danger have been spared.

That's it for now. Off to the races I go!

Afternoon, chix :broc:

Cottage: Good to see you were up and at'em early this morning. Are you still playing in the snow?

Ruth: I got a really good vaccum off of e-bay and my husband refused to believe there wasn't something wrong with it. Good luck with Jazz!

Cyndi: Good luck with your garden planning!

Twynn: I hate slow days at work! I think I would rather be stressed and busy rather than trying not to watch the clock.

Schmoodle: My prayers are with your friend and I hope all goes well.

Rikki: Good luck with your running plans...I hope you get the time your looking for to get your nails done. When you rook mahvelous...you feel mahvelous! ;)

Chelby: I was always alright with the dentist. Then I moved to the UK. The first dentist I had drilled so hard we shattered my teeth. Good times.

Laurie: I always liked the St. Paul story. I took as there's hope for us all if even Saul can be St. Paul!!!

Diva: Look at you and all your clean livin!!! You stick with it...sounds like you're doing really well. Keep going!!! ;)

Stacy: Hope you feel better soon!

Kim: omg about the fires! I hope everyone is ok. You take care!!!

As for me! Went out for lunch with a pal and ate way too much. Looking forward to on plan eating tonight. DH will be watching football (soccer) and will have BIL over as well. This means I'll be banished to the other room to leave the men to their shouting and swearing. Good times. ;) That's fine, I'll spend some time with you hawt chix and myspace!!!!

Morning, girls!

DH just left for work so I finally have a minute to check in.

DS2 had a great night last night and is finally seeming to learn to self-soothe. He went to bed at 9:30, woke up around 4 for nosh and then went down again until around 8. I could definitely live with this. He just went down again a few minutes ago and that went smoothly. Like DS1, he seems to enjoy being in his own crib -- I guess we don't disturb him as much.

Plan for the day includes a trip to the Goodwill to drop off more stuff, a walk around the neighborhoods and maybe a jog if I have time this afternoon. It's too tough to jog with the double stroller and our jogging stroller is only a single. Someone has to stay home! A little laundry and random house chores as well - DS is learning to pee standing up, so a bathroom scrub is in order!

Diva - good luck with quitting smoking! I quit about 6 years ago, I considered myself a social smoker and when my friends quit, I had to either face the fact that I was a "real" smoker or quit. I chose the latter. :)

Ruth - I really love my Dyson. I got it for my birthday last year (romantic, I know...I asked for it!) and it's really been great. It works awesome with my hardwoods and tile as well as my carpet.

Kim - Scary! I hope everything turns out okay with the fires and that nobody is hurt. Keep us updated!

Twynn- I feel your pain on the moving...if I was closer, I'd help!

Congratulate me, ladies, last night Robert signed the divorce decree! He isn't crazy about parts of it but he signed it. I'm planning to drop off the papers at the lawyer this afternoon so he can get them filed and it will be a simple court appearance rather than a contested divorce trial. I am SO relieved! :carrot:

The appraisers came this morning. Hopefully the appraisal will come in high enough that I can refinance for the amount that I need to pay Robert. They didn't think I'd have any problem but I'll have to wait to see.

Now if I can only convince the dog to sleep in his crate without barking for a couple of hours. :( He's fine once he settles down but he barked until 12:30 or so and then the cats started meowing at 5AM. I'm a bit sleep deprived.

Got a late lunch today, Hello all

Cottage: Hope you are having a good day.

Ruth: I need to get a new vacuum as well, but mine still works but it looks terrible.

Cyndi: Good luck with your garden planning!

Twynn: I hope you get some packing done and enjoy your run.

Schmoodle: My prayers are with your friend and I hope all goes well.

Rikki: I hope you get time to get yourself done up :)

Chelby: Good luck with dentist and congratulations on losing one of the lbs.

Laurie: Good luck with your bible study group.

Diva: I quite smoking 18 years ago, of course it was when I found out I was pregnant so I had good motivation not to pick up another cigarette again.

Stacy: Try to get in a little bit of exercise to kick off the cold you have coming.

Kim: So sorry to hear about the fires, hope they get everything under control.

Zeff: That is great that DS2 is sleeping so well, that makes life so much more relaxing.

Barb: That is great, I am so happy for you. Now you can move on with that behind you.

As for me had to share this; I got on the scale this morning and I lost 50 lbs!!!!!! Couldn't believe it got off and back on same thing. Overnight 50 lbs. LOL. Took a shower got back on and gained it back.

Not much on agenda for tonight, doing some software upgrades on pcs at home and taking dd1 to bible study.

Have a great day ladies

It's final! My lawyer and I went down to the courthouse and found a judge that was free and it is over!!! I have a signed official decree! There are still loose ends to tie up with the deeds and titles but I am legally single again! Sunday will be 14 months since I filed for divorce. Thank all of you so much for listening to me complain and for being such a support to me through all of this. You guys have been the best.

Congrats Barb. I can just imagine the huge smile on your face today!

My son is sick. He was sent home from school today because of a fever. The really strange thing was that he cried twice, he doesn't usually cry at school. They are doing a reading program and you can earn tickets for the minor league baseball team. They had the mascot walk around the lunch room to pump it up and he was scared of it, so scared he actually cried. They sent him to the nurse. Then shortly after he was in the library and was crying again because he was scared of the reptiles they had brought into the gym today. He wasn't even in the gym yet, just talking about it had him freaked out! They sent him to the nurse again, this time he had a fever so she called me. I am chalking this all up to the cold and fever, maybe he just wasn't in the mood to deal with any of this today? He is staying home tomorrow too, making it a movie/recovery day.
Eating was HORRIBLE today! My own fault, on the go too much, didn't eat my snacks, got way too hungry and just grabbed anything, which of course lead to another bad thing, you get the picture.

Off to watch Lost.
