Good brand for vegetarian meats? - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

I'm not a vegetarian but I would like to use some of the vegetarian meat options on my plan for protein. I also have a 1 yr old who loves foods like chicken nuggets. Is there a good brand that is close enough to the "real thing" that I will like it? I'm interested in burgers, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, and things like soy cheese. Thanks!

i'm vegetarian and i love the morningstar farms brand stuff, also the amy's brand burgers are great. quorn makes an awesome fake chicken breast (like a boneless skinless version).
i'm not a fan of the boca products.

I like morningstar too! Especially the mushroom lovers veggie burger! Sooo good!

I grilled them outside or on the forman grill!

Yeah, I really like the morningstar brand too. I think the Boca brand is gross. I microwave mine... never tried grilling, but I don't mind at all. Their meal starter ground "beef" is really good! I fry it up with a ton of peppers, onions, and egg whites. It's a ton of food for very little calories.

The Morningstar Corndogs are SOO good. I don't know if they do this anymore, but for a while they sold two versions with different kind of "hotdogs" inside. The 170 calorie dogs have some weird smokey flavoring, but the 150 calorie ones taste BETTER than the real thing.

Tofurky is far superior to anything else out there. Even my husband will eat it. They make several products. All have been good that I've tried. I also like morningstar and boca, but I like Tofurky the best.

I like the Morningstar products the best, and I prefer to heat them on the grill or in the oven. I don't like the texture of them when they come out of the microwave.

The crumbles are excellent - I use them all the time (shhh don't let DH know!)

how do u count the boca products on la weight loss i love them so much

For Red and Red plus it's 2 patties=1 protein.

For the other plans it's 1 patty=1 protein

If you're doing the numbered plan--the ones with 8oz protein servings are 2 patties. The ones with smaller protein servings are 1 patty.

At least-this is what I remember.
