Default Tips for buying a heart rate moniter

I am looking to buy a heart rate moniter but I am a little concerned because of the range in kinds/prices/etc. I would like one that reads my heart rate and calculates calories burned. My first thought is how accurate are these? My second thought is if I get a cheaper one, $50 or under will it work decently? I want one but I am not willing to spend a lot of money on a real nice expensive one. Anyone have any suggestions or tips when looking at Heart Rate Moniters? There are some on ebay for $10 but I really worry about them. Would you worry about them too?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Never mind I just read the tread started by corazonas about this. I am having a rough day. Been up since 3 AM. Going on 5 hours of sleep. Not by choice either.

Thank you though!!!!
