Simply Filling/Core - Weekly Chat:March 2- March 8View Full Version : Weekly Chat:March 2- March 8 Tejas 03-02-2009, 08:35 AM :cofdate: New Pages! Tejas 03-02-2009, 08:42 AM Good Morning: I hope everyone's doing well. I did rather well on the weekend about eating low calorie and mostly Core. I've gone back to basics about writing everything down and that is very helpful. My MSN homepage reported research indicating that the best approach to losing weight was low carb plus exercise. BUT, the difference among the various approaches was very slight, just a matter of a few pounds. I've also been following the color (or colour) approach; that is, eat red, purple, yellow, orange, green, etc...that's a very easy way to make sure you're getting the nutrients you need. It's very cold today, with wind. Nothing new there  Have a great and OP day! Rhonda Vickie 03-02-2009, 08:43 AM Thanks for remembering, Rhonda! I'm off to have my blood work taken and then I have my JC weigh in. I'll be back after all of that. beach bum 03-02-2009, 10:28 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Not a good day, the we're having a ice storm expecting winds from a no'easter some time this afternoon.TG Leo went out to get the staples that we needed. The only thing we're hoping for is for the power to stay on. I lost 1 pound this morning at W-I.I so happy, as tomorrow I can report that I lost a total of 3 lbs since I went to the doctors 2 weeks ago. Now I can move my ticker this week,to read correctly. RHONDA-Glad you had a great weekend eating wise.I think I did the same as I wanted to lose something before going to the doctor. Low carbing???????That's interesting. That's another thing I'm going to bring up to the doctor.I was reading a woman weight web sited [woman to woman=changing woman's health naturally]and they talked about Thyroid problems are some times mistaken for insulin resistance,as they have the same or similar symptoms. VICKIE-Good luck for your blood work and your W-I Vickie 03-02-2009, 01:37 PM Well Chicks, I had a great week for me. I'm down 2 pounds for a total of 13.2. I'm skipping off to change my tracker! Then lunch, and off to errands. Tejas 03-02-2009, 01:53 PM Congrats to Vickie and Maryann for losing! I just glanced at the study, but it did distinguish between the radical low carb like Atkins and other low carb approaches....perhaps it would be better to describe it as "lower" carb... Tejas 03-02-2009, 10:08 PM  Vickie 03-03-2009, 12:26 AM Wow Chicks! I had a long and busy day. Quiet here. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond to look at Method and Mrs. Meyers green products but ending up buying nothing. It gave me some good exercise to at least be up and walking around. Rhonda, I have to journal on JC too or I'd never remember what I've eaten. I've consumed more fruits and veggies than I ever even ate on Core. Colorful is good! I'm not eating low carb. I hope that's not a problem for me. I guess I'll see if I end up being insulin resistant. I don't know much about it. Mary Ann, I always worry about the power. I hope yours stayed on. Tomorrow I'm getting up early to exercise and eat and then I'm heading out to Super Walmart. Gotta get stocked up for the month. Vickie 03-03-2009, 08:44 AM Good Morning Chicks! I win last post, first post and am awaiting my prize! I'm having a cup of coffee while I wait for Jim to finish walking on the treadmill and then it's my turn. Have a great day and drink your water. Thinking of you Mary Ann. Tejas 03-03-2009, 12:20 PM :yay: :queen: :yay: There's your prize, Vickie! Enjoy being the Queen of the Weekly Chat for a day. So far, so good today. I'm home from work to to the dentist. So, I made some soup for lunch, then heading out. I took a quick trip to the grocery store and wanted anything chocolate. I'm happy to report my NSV: I didn't buy any of it. Talk to you later tonight..long day ahead of me. Rhonda coco99 03-03-2009, 01:43 PM Hi Everyone Just thought I would get on here for a few. Ran a couple of errends this morning. Then came home and fixed us a boco veggie burger. Now to fix something for supper. BEACHBUM Congrats on the loss. That is great. When do you go to the DR with your journal. I bet he will be pleased with the loss. Hope you are doing ok with the storm. VICKIE Congrats on your loss. You are doing really good. When do you go for your test. Good job on walking on the treadmill. And I need to drink some water. Havent gotten much in yet today. TEJAS Hope the dentist appt went well. Well I am going to get off here. Got the girls blankets in washing. So need to see if they are done yet. Have a great day. Will be back later. coco Vickie 03-03-2009, 01:44 PM OH Rhonda, thank you for my beautiful prize! Congratulations on not eating the chocolate but opting for soup instead. That's not an easy feat. Don't work too hard. Vickie 03-03-2009, 01:46 PM Coco, we were posting at the same time! I had my bloodwork done yesterday and am waiting for the results. I'm a bit nervous about meeting my new Doctor but that's not scheduled yet. I laughed with Jim just a few minutes ago. I forgot when I was walking on the treadmill that I'd be walking all over Walmart. Normally, I don't exercise when I go there. Now I'll get double exercise today. Later, Chicks! beach bum 03-03-2009, 02:00 PM Hi Ladies:) Is it SPRING yet??? According to what I see on the ground we have a combo of snow with ice on top.[1" of snow what 1" of ice on top].Stupid town didn't sand our street and its like a skating ring. Leo wasn't going out this morning too dangerous, but hopes the sun will melt some of the stuff so I can go to the doctors this afternoon. VICKIE-Congrats on your 2 lb loss. You're doing great, wish I had the same to report, but once the doctor works with me,and finding the problems I hope I will being going downward on the scale again. Yes we were fortunate that our power stayed on,it just cold out but were nice and warm, with our gas insert in our fireplace.I agree with Rhonda you are the :queen: of the chat. RHONDA-I have a feeling the doctor is going to tell me I eating to many grain carbs etc. Good Luck at the dentist,I hate going to see him.Congrats on your NSV staying away from the chocolate. [B]COCO-Thanks for the congrats I'm going to the doctor this afternoon.I'm sure he will be glad,as hes said at my age I should be losing.Don't mind the snow but the ice on the road is a different matter. Will be back later and report what the doctor told me. beach bum 03-03-2009, 03:44 PM Hi Ladies:) I just got home from the doctor's,Leo drove me there. My eyes are fine,he explained why the my eyes are doing that, and that I shouldn't worry. Now for my food journal and not losing weight. He was happy to see that I lost 2.5 in 2 weeks and said that .5-1 a week is a normal way to lose.Asked him if I should go back to low carbing he said no,just CC with a 1400-1600 range. He looked over all the foods I'm eating and told me that I was eating healthy,my portion sizes were correct. He told me that using a journal helps to see where I went wrong.Asked why I was gaining the same 168-170 for the past month. He told me that I have to stop partying when he saw Super Bowl Sunday on my weight loss chart. So I guess I will have to except the extra eating when holidays & occasions come up,and plan the best I can to avoid over eating. This month we have St Patrick's Day[corned beef & cabbage and boiled potatoes]April= Easter[NO candy from the EASTER BUNNIE[roast beef, roast potatoes and green beans]Thanks goodness the rest of the year is holiday free until Nov. ,except for Summer BBQ's That's it,Next month I have a cholesterol blood test ,so maybe he'll ask how I'm doing in the weight dept. ontarget 03-03-2009, 05:30 PM We got home from the nationals Sunday evening. I haven't been well. My dizziness is still here; plus I've had some other health issues. The doctor sent me to the hospital lab yesterday for testing. So far, high cholesterol is all they've found. I'm hoping that's all. I don't need to hear about stroke or blood clot anymore. Curtis and I just got home from the store and are loaded with fruit and veggies. This is a wakeup call for us. I'm on meds for anxiety and for high cholesterol now in addition to what I was already taking. Guess I'll rattle when I walk. We each won the Southern Regionals but I already know my friend from NM has outscored me for Nationals. If we're able to go to Louisville next week, she and I will get to shoot together (for the first time). It will be fun. I'm looking forward to it. Vickie, Rhonda, and Maryann, congratulations on your weightlosses. Vickie, I hope you get a good report on your blood tests. Got to go. I'm picking up the grands for a grandmother/granddaughters outing. I'll catch you later. Vickie 03-03-2009, 07:14 PM Sandra, I'm very worried about you. Please feel my hugs and good thoughts surrounding you. coco99 03-03-2009, 08:15 PM Hi In all my excitment for Beachbum and Vickie. I forgot to tell you. I lost a pound last night. ONTARGET  Sure hope you get to feeling better. Hope you had a good time with the granddaughters. BEACHBUM Glad the Dr was pleased with your journal. We are celebrating 2 anniversaries and a birthday this month. But I know these occasions isnt about the food. But the people. You be careful going out. Hope the ice and snow melts soon. VICKIE I am sure your blood work will be alright. Good job with walking on the treadmill and going to Wal Mart. Did get my water in today. Well I am going to go check out some e-mail. Hope everyone has had a great day. Thinking of everyone. Have a wonderful evening. coco Vickie 03-03-2009, 08:59 PM Great job, Coco! You inspire me. Tejas 03-03-2009, 10:56 PM  Sandra. Get healthy, girl...we have a lot of playing to do when DH and I move to Texas. I need to go see my MD too. I'll make that happen. The dentist was nothing. I don't mind dental work too much. I used to be a dental hygienist in my youth. Used that work to pay my way through university. I passed up the chocolate earlier, but I caved in tonight and had a piece of lemon cake that I bought for DH at his insistence. One piece won't kill me, but it ruined my perfect record for the day :( NO excuses! Congrats on the losses, Chickies! Rhonda ontarget 03-04-2009, 12:24 AM Thank you, Vickie, Rhonda, and Coco. I go back to my doctor Friday and probably again next week. We're trying to patch me up to go to Indoor Nationals in Louisville, KY. My health problems may be a blessing in desguise. Curtis and I are trying to eat healthier. Baby steps. Baby steps. As soon as I get a chance, I'll go back to WW. Rhonda, I keep learning more and more about you. I am so glad we're here together. How many relatives get this type chance to know each other better? Coco, congratulations on your weightloss. You're doing great. Vickie, I hope you get good results from your bloodwork. Vickie 03-04-2009, 09:25 AM Good Morning Chicks! Sandra, I'm so glad you posted. I've been concerned. Don't push yourself too much. I know competing is important to you but not at the risk of your health. It's almost my turn on the treadmill. Did I tell you all that I'm now up to 40 minutes mostly at 2.0 mph? That's a big deal for me. I'm at 5 days a week right now. Have a great day and drink your water! Tejas 03-04-2009, 10:00 AM :woohoo: Vickie. That's great on the treadmill. I think that today I'm gonna change the :exercise: lethargy. When I was in Florida just a few floors away from the treadmill I got on it. Here, the treadmill is just behind me as I type or my sports club is a five minute drive away. In keeping with my Lent promises, no excuses. This is totally off topic: I research my family history and I think I've just found out that my maternal great grandfather had two families at the same time. We thought he had one, and then the other...but, I don't think so anymore. I've got a lot more work to do on this, but it looks very, very interesting. Sandra, we might come to Texas in June to go to a family researchers meeting. I'll keep you posted. Rhonda Vickie 03-04-2009, 10:07 AM Oh Rhonda you'd love talking to my Sister. She's the family historian. Most of the time our eyes roll back in our heads when she starts talking about it. Yours sounds interesting. Now I'd listen to to that! beach bum 03-04-2009, 01:56 PM Hi Ladies:) The ice is still on the ground so I guess I'm not going to my choir rehearsal again .Wish this winter was over,so I can go back to my every day routine.I miss walking along the beach. Oh about my doctors appointment yesterday I forgot to mention that he want me not to go down to 140 for my weight goal but to use 150 instead. That's what WW first 10% is so I decided to hit that mark first and than see if I want to go down further. SANDRA-So Sorry to hear about your dizziness.Does the doctor know where the dizziness is coming from???? Thanks for the congrats, hope it starts to go downward again. COCO-Have a great time with the 2 occasions that your cerebrating. I think he was kidding as I don't really go overboard with holidays any more. We eat every day foods but we do have maybe a little more with Irish Soda Bread for St Patrick's Day.,as it only the two of us except for Christmas. Have to go dinner is ready will come back later Vickie 03-04-2009, 02:29 PM I'm using 150 for my goal even though I'm only 5' 2". I have a large frame. Good sturdy peasant stock. beach bum 03-04-2009, 05:09 PM Hi I'm back again, COCO-Congrats on your 1 lb loss. Thanks for you congrats to me. RHONDA-Why don't you buy some WW cakes??Just in case I get the sweet craving I buy the WW golden sponge cake with creamy filling or any of there cakes for 1 pt.The pcs are 2" long ,and they seem to satisfy the craving. Just a thought. VICKIE-You're doing excellent in your WOE and exercising. I wash my basement was a little warmer so I could go downstairs and use my treadmill. My doctor is a bone specialist along with all the other titles he has.[internist, geriatrics ] Told me that I have a large frame and he thinks 150 would be more reachable than the 140 he put me on in the first place. coco99 03-04-2009, 08:52 PM Hi Everyone Not much going on here. BEACHBUM Wont be long and spring will be here. I see some buds on a couple of trees in our yard. And I saw 5 robins the other day. My Dr things the goals that WW has. Are too low. So later on she will set my goal. She has a general idea. So we will see. Got a way to go to get there. VICKIE :carrot: For walking on the treadmill. That is great. You have really built yourself up on the walking. Hope you had a good day. I am drinking water. ONTARGET I have a friend who lives in Kentucky. It is a nice place. Hope you are feeling better. TEJAS Hope you had a good day. BLESSEDWITHSARAH AND NANCY237 Hope both of you are doing ok. Well my Mom and Dad took hubby and me out to eat today. They took us to Red Lobster. I wasnt that impressed with it. And boy is it expensive. I had grilled shrimp with grilled chicken and broccoli and rice. The Red Lobster just opened in our area last month. I would rather go to Bob Evans. I think there grilled chicken is better there. Oh well. Well I am going to get off here. Hope everyone is doing ok. Thinking of everyone. coco Vickie 03-05-2009, 08:05 AM Good Morning Chicks! I've been up for a half hour already. The cleaning lady is coming today so I must get showered and dressed before she comes. I've got a busy day today; the eye specialist and then our weekly out to eat dinner date. I got a BIG surprise yesterday. TOM arrived with a BANG. Darn it. I thought I was finished. Sigh. This happened last year after my visit to the Gynie. Harumpf! Maybe I'll have a good loss next week. Thanks Coco! I've never been to Red Lobster. I know. People are shocked when they hear that. I've never been a big seafood eater. I'm just now learning to eat fish. Have a great day and drink your water! Tejas 03-05-2009, 09:45 AM Red Lobster. Well, their biscuits are "death" and who can avoid them. If you did, Coco, good for you! It's not a dieter's haven, unless you just get the steamed fish. I've done that a few times, but those biscuits are too tempting. That is especially true when DH eats them as if there will never be another biscuit available anywhere, anytime. Maryann, thanks for the tip about WW cakes. I have had them before, but don't often think of them. They could be a quick solution to a sweet tooth. Rhonda Off topic: Yes, it's true my g-grandfather had two families. The cousins made the connection last night on email. He left my g-grandmother in a rage and headed off to another life which he established very quickly. One of the cousins has letters that he wrote to the second wife. She had dreams that he had another family and, of course, he denied that. He was one sweet talker in those letters! And, a bigamist to boot! The cousins are joking about having a reunion and visiting his grave. He had a stellar reputation in his second community, founding a church and all of that. Hypocrisy reigns, does it not? Don't be concerned, we are all good natured about it. But, I might demand my rightful inheritance if it looks like the other side has any money  He left my g-grandmother destitute! beach bum 03-05-2009, 09:47 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Looks like we are going to have a sunny day ahead of us,except for the coldness in the air. Fell off the wagon last night, snacking on everything.Looked at my food journal and saw I wasn't enough. Going to plan better for today,by adding more protein,to my evening meal,so I can stay full for the rest of the night. COCO-Hope you had a great time at Red Lobster,I'm not a fan of that restaurant either.Living up in the cape why would I,especially when we have so many nice seafood places up here. I hope so,can't stand this snow & ice anymore. One thing we don't have in the Cape is a Spring,oh yes the birds and blossoms are back, but the weather still stay chilly and than in June then it gets hot.We never put our tomatoes in the ground until June as April & May we'll still have a chance for frost. WW is till writing to me to come back, free registration, their points & goals are to low for me. That's the reason I didn't lose like I wanted to I think it put me in the starvation mode. Doctor told me 1400[28]-1600[32] is a good range not 20[1000]-22[1100] its to low. RHONDA-Your welcome, I thing those little cakes help me with cravings.Leo on the other hand thinks I should have them, but I told him having a small amount is better than having a a big binge.Than he had to agree. VICKIE-Hope every thing is ok with your eyes or is it a annual visit. I'm so happy that TOM left me right after my partial hysterectomy in 1992.Here for a good weight loss next week. You're doing fantastic in your weight loss journey. I think I getting sloppy in my portion sizes again ,I took my old WW food scale with the discs out of moth balls, going to start using it today. Have a great morning coco99 03-05-2009, 01:04 PM Hi Everyone Just waiting on a load of clothes to finish washing. So thought I would get on here for a few. I put a lean beef roast in the crock pot this morning. Then I added crushed tomato's and carrots. I got green beans on cooking. I might put a small potato in for each of us. And then cook some broccoli and cauliflower. And that will be supper. With plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. TEJAS I didnt eat the biscuits. They looked dry. And I am not much of a biscuit person. Maybe with some creamed chicken on them. But then I would rather have bread. Then last night when son came home. He said in a couple of weeks we are going back to Red Lobster. I am trying to talk him out of it. He didnt get to go. So he wants to go. Maybe I can talk him into going by himself. Which I doubt. VICKIE Hope the eye appt goes well. I need to get my eyes checked. But just havent made the appt. But it is getting harder to read that menu. I know what you mean about TOM. I am having awful cramps. BEACHBUM Glad it is warming up for you. It is suppose to get in the 50's here. The sun is shining. I opened the front door to let the sun in. But will have to watch it doesnt make it get too cool in the house. The girls love to lay in the sun. Even though you fell off the wagon yesterday. Today is a new day. Get right back on that wagon. Well I better get off here and check on the washer. Hope everyone is having a great day. Will be back later. coco ontarget 03-05-2009, 06:19 PM Rhonda, I just saw your post about coming to Texas in June. yihoooooo! Please keep me in the know. Vickie, I'm proud of you for :tread: You, go, girl!! I go back to the doctor in the AM. I'm starting to think my dizziness problems were medically induced. Anybody know much about side effects of Claridin? I wasn't taking Claritin D--just regular Claritin. I'm on my cholesterol meds now. Guess I'm not alone there as millions of other folks are taking them. Coco, did you have any of those killer biscuits at Red Lobster? I think I'm doing well if I only have one. Curtis and I are beginning a class tonight called "Conversational Spanish." We're looking forward to it. Guess we'll miss "Survivor" but the world won't end because of that. Will it? coco99 03-05-2009, 09:11 PM Hi Everyone It was a beautiful day today. The sun was shining and the temp got up to 58 degrees. The air was cool. But it was nice. Think some rain is coming our way. ONTARGET No I didnt eat any biscuits at red lobster. Hope you find out was is causing the dizziness. The roast in the crock pot turned out pretty good. It was falling apart. Not much has happened since I was on here. So I guess I will get off here for now. Hope everyone had a great day. Thinking of everyone. Night coco Tejas 03-05-2009, 09:52 PM  I did really well today. Ate low calorie and Core and walked a long distance. Coco, good for you and not eating the biscuits...can't do that myself. Maryann, I hate winter..enough, enough, enough. Vickie, proud of you for doing so well now. Sandra, of course I'll let you know if and when we will visit. Later, Rhonda ontarget 03-05-2009, 10:49 PM Coco, you're better off not tasting the biscuits. Rhonda, you get an "atta-girl" for today's achievements. I'm proud of you. I just got an e from a gf who's a nurse about Claritin's possible side effects. I think I have found the cause of most of my problems. I still go to the doctor in the morning, but now I don't think I'm having heart problems flaring up other than high cholesterol. I have been really afraid because I have valvular heart disease and congestive heart failure. I think they are still under control. Whew! Hurry up, June. I want to see Rhonda. Vickie 03-06-2009, 05:46 AM Harumpf.....I've been up since 3:00. Hormones stink! I'm off to read what's up with all of you. Vickie 03-06-2009, 09:25 AM Rhonda, what a rascal your great granpappy was! Maybe you'll be rich. Congratulation of your long walk. I'm doing well now. For me, it's a matter of staying motivated. Right now, I'm just trying to make it my routine. Mary Ann, protein is our friend. Time for breakfast and then my walk. The scale is UP in a BIG way right now. Hope TOM doesn't last until next Monday's weigh in. Coco, I rescheduled my eye specialist appointment for next Thursday. I felt too crummy to go wit TOM. It's a BAD one. I have to go every 6 months for my glaucoma. This was time for all the annual tests. I was too grumpy for that! My pup likes to lay in the sun but she can only stay there for a while. Then she has to move because she's black and she gets too hot. Sandra, I just now saw your post about Claritin. I took it for years with no problem and I'm taking Walitin right now until my Xyzal refill comes. Everyone is different though. I hope you're feeling better. I'm sure I'll be on cholesterol medicine once I get my new Doctor. We'll see. Tejas 03-06-2009, 10:27 AM Morning All: Yes, Vickie, he was a rascal. My late sister's daughter loves to say that this side of the family is worthy of a Faulkner novel. Too bad we don't seem to have any novelists in the family. Of course, we're in good company and lots of novels explore sordid plots. We don't have to write another one. I'm going for two days in a row of low calorie and Core. I will also go for another long walk. At least it has warmed up, as I see it has for many of us. Have a great day all, Rhonda ps: Sandy some of those meds are not good for people with any kind of cardiac problems. Check it out. beach bum 03-06-2009, 11:13 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Going to be another great day up in the 50's again. Nothing new except I might have to go to jury duty this Monday.I'm not looking forward to it at all..See I have to get to the court house by way of a rotary and I don't like them. I had a scary encounter on another one several years ago when I had the right away and a panel truck almost side swiped me, SCARED :fr: my half to death. Now I found out that it going to rain on Monday.Wish we had traffic light instead of this rotaries[round a bouts]. COCO-Yesterday was wash day for me,3 loads. Once the snow off my patio I will sit outside in the sun,but not until than. I did get back on the wagon, had more protein for my supper and I found I wasn't as hungry during the night. SANDRA-Sorry I have no idea what the side effects in the Clardin has. Go to the Clardin web site or Web Doctor and type in the meds and they'll tell you want the side effects are.Glad that your gf told you what was in those meds.If I don't have to take meds I keeps away from them, just because of that. RHONDA-I can imagine living in Canada would be colder but I can't wait until the buds start blooming on the trees & bushes again. I'm going to watch my grain carbs also,if I see any sign of a gain. VICKIE-I agree with you and will put more protein in my menus in the future. Have a great morning, Vickie 03-06-2009, 11:38 AM Mary Ann, I know Boston isn't Cape Cod but my only experience was with driving in Boston. It has those too and I've never been more frustrated and confused in my life! I had to drive them though. The double decker bridges were weird too. We don't have those here. Rhonda, good luck on your low calorie Core. Off to the treadmill and grocery shopping. We go to the store ever other day for fresh fruit and veggies. Today is some more pantry shopping so I'll be going with to help Jim out. blessedwithsarah 03-06-2009, 01:31 PM Hi everyone. Things have been so busy lately - I've been reading but little time to post. Missed wi Wednesday - had back to back meetings. The one issue with WW at work, sometimes work gets in the way. But I'm doing well, sticking OP and writing down everything. Vickie - not sure if I congratulated you on your great progress! You'll be resetting your chick soon. Maryann -- I grew up in MA and learned to drive with rotaries. I can understand how they can be scary! I remember learning to drive through them - we were told - Never stop. I guess that explains how most in MA drive :) Glad snow is melting - things were great for us until the storm Monday. We got about a foot - its going down but I can't see my grass yet. Hopefully this weekend. Sandra - hope the Dr agrees that its the Claritin. There are so may OTC for allergies, maybe he can suggest an alternative. Rhonda - after you retire, how soon will you head to TX? Hi Coco - hope all is well. Well, got to run. I'll try to post later on.... Tejas 03-06-2009, 05:26 PM Paula, we don't know how soon we'll get to Texas. We have to see my house here before we can buy in Denton. But, I know this: I won't be here for another winter! If we can't sell, we'll close it up here, go south and rent a place for a while, then come back here and try to sell again. We're counting our blessings that this is our only problem. At least we have a house! I made a great soup. Here's what I put together: 1 box of ff, reduced salt chicken stock 1 large can of diced tomatoes, with liquid chunks of cooked chicken breasts diced carrots and onions spinach chunks of purple cabbage canned, drained white kidney beans put in all in a pot, heated it and ate...delicious. Even DH liked it and he doesn't normally like soup unless it's made of cream and bad for him. I'm doing well today...we also have 50F weather, with rain moving in. Rhonda coco99 03-06-2009, 08:08 PM Hi Everyone Well we ran around all day today. Had to get meds filled. Pay a couple of bills. And go clothes shopping. I am so bummed about clothes shopping it isnt funny. I wouldnt have got any new clothes yet. But son and my parents are taking us out next weekend. And said we had to dress up. And I dont really have any nice dress clothes. I wear stretch pants and tees all the time. I thought maybe I could get into a size smaller. Well not really. Cause the pants I have now are a little loose. Well I tried on smaller size pant. With a zipper. Not stretch. The fit. But to me they feel tight. The sales girl said no. And hubby said they didnt. But guess wearing loose with elastic bands anything would feel tight. Then the tops I got. Were the same size I am wearing now. But the fit kinda snug. I wanted the next size. And the sales girl told me no. They would be too big. Maybe if I dont eat much between now and next weekend. They will fit better. You know. I dont know how people say they lose 10 lbs. And go down a size. I have lost 33. And still the same size. DEPRESSING. I am sorry for ranting. But I am upset. VICKIE hope you are doing ok. Hubby has glaucoma. He uses travatan for his. And it is working. Boy you are doing great with the treadmill. I need to get on mine. But sometimes it makes my knees hurt. Maybe if I start out slow it wont. My girls will lay in the sun until they get too hot and start panting. then they move and get cooled off. And go right back. BLESSEDWITHSARAH Glad you are staying OP. Sorry you missed your meeting. Hope you have a great weekend. ONTARGET Glad you are finding its the meds. And nothing else making you sick. Hope you are doing ok. TEJAS Good job on staying on track. The soup sounds good. Will have to try it. BEACHBUM What a bummer. Jury duty. I'm not sure what you are talking about a rotary. We had another nice day today also. Glad that more portein helped you fill full. I know if I eat too many carbs I dont do as well. Have a good weekend. Well I am going to get off here. Sorry about my outburst up above. Thinking of each of you. Night coco Tejas 03-06-2009, 08:37 PM NO need to apologize Coco. I'm not out shopping for clothes and would be unhappy if I were! ontarget 03-06-2009, 10:17 PM My problem is the Claritin--no stroke!!! I'm a happy camper. Rhonda, you're right. I need to be careful. What about Doyle's side of the family? Did you know his great grandfather was a traveling hypnotist who sold elixir? Vickie, my doctor suggested Singulair (sp?) but he told me not to take anything till after I see him after we get back from Louisville. He also told me to stop my cholesterol meds till then, too. I like him. Maryann, I agree with you and Vickie about more protein--especially for bfast. Coco, I know what you mean about wearing the same size. I do that, too. Maybe you were like me and were wearing too losee tops. beach bum 03-07-2009, 10:56 AM Good Morning Ladies:) Looks like another day in the 50's but it just not warm enough to wear lighter clothes. Nothing new,I forgot to get on the scale so I don't know the results until next week. VICKIE-At least the Cape is quite this time of year so its only going to be the local driving to work on Monday. But I have to get up a 6AM as I have to leave a 7 to get to the court at 8AM. Going to take it slow and give myself 1 hr for traveling. PAULA-I grew up in MA and learned to drive with rotaries. I can understand how they can be scary! I remember learning to drive through them - we were told - Never stop. I guess that explains how most in MA driveLived in NY all my life and we had traffic lights instead. After a almost be side swiped by the panel truck it was scary. Leo had that happen to him and had to pull onto the grass to avoid an accident, the Man had a dog on his lap. RHONDA-Thanks for sharing the recipe it does sound good. COCO-Hopefully this will be my last year for jury duty as I turn 70 next year. You lucky you never had to travel on a rotary[round-about]Its four roads that connect by a circle in the middle of the roads,to get on you have to look on the left to see if you the circle is clear and the person in the rotary has the right away. Some rotaries are dangerous like near the BOURNE Bridge.Others are small, and easy to get into. SANDRA-Happy to hear no strokes and the Clartin caused the dizziness. Never liked protein for breakfast other than eggs, breakfast sausages and bacon. But now I'm adding ham,and other meats sliced sliver thin with veggies. My DD told me that is what she does.Haven't tried her tuna fish in the morning that it think would turn me off. Have a great day or weekend if I don't come back,Remember that I won't be posting this Monday as I'll be gone for most of the day. Vickie 03-07-2009, 10:59 AM Good Morning Chicks!!!! I just woke up and am having my first cup of coffee. Jim is on the treadmill and I'm off to see what you have been up to while I've been sleeping. Vickie 03-07-2009, 12:37 PM Paula, bummer on the missed weigh in. That's always a problem for me. I'm sure you'll have a terrific loss for next week. Thanks for the positive reinforcement. I had hoped to close out the tracker this week but TOM may still be here on Monday. I may just have to wait until the week after. Patience is a virtue but ever so hard in the weight loss arena. Rhonda, our WW zero point soup is what is keeping us on program some days. I wish I was as creative as you are. Mary Ann, good luck on Monday. Have you thought about peanut butter for breakfast on some toast? I've heard it has a lot of protein. Oh Coco, please don't feel depressed! It could be a million reasons that the smaller sizes didn't fit. For one thing, I've always heard 15 pounds down to lose a size. But even that never worked for me. I think it depends on how close you are to your goal. Also, it depends on the store you were shopping at and even then who made the clothes. At Fashion Bug, I have to wear a full size bigger than at Catherines. Even within Catherines I wear different sizes; most often a 3X but sometimes 2X or 4X. I can't even wear the 3X outside the plus sized stores like Target, Walmart, JC Penney, Sears because they are all cut smaller than at the plus sized stores. So don't let the clothes manufacturers make you blue. Try to buy something that makes you feel pretty and feels comfortable and don't worry about what size it is. You are doing something about your weight so the sizes will go down eventually. I'm off my soap box now. I hated to hear the pain in your voice. But, cry on our shoulders anytime. I'm always doing it. NOW....where are you going and what are you celebrating that you have to get so dressed up? An anniversary? Sandra, that's a relief! I took Singulair for a long time. It wasn't really working and it didn't seem to be helping make the smokey smell go away. I decided to try Xyzal instead of going back on Singulair. I heard some things about Singulair that concerned me. Reports are that it was causing depression in some people and suicides. Since I'd been having blueness with menopause, I decided to pass. I'm happy with the Xyzal. If your dizziness doesn't go away, discuss Benign Positional Vertigo with your Doctor. It comes and goes with no real rhyme or reason in people over 50. Jim had it once when we first got together and I had it a couple of years ago. It takes 10-20 days of medicine and it goes away and usually doesn't come back. I was so dizzy that I couldn't even roll over in bed without the whole room spinning. I hadn't even been that dizzy all through the 70's. And believe me.....I should have been dizzy in the 70's! Take care of yourself, my friend. Time for my yogurt and grape nuts, and then my treadmill session. It's quite dark and dreary here and is expected to be so today and tomorrow. Why not walk on the treadmill. I can entertain Jim with my delightful singing voice (not). I have to make soup and applesauce this afternoon so I better get crackin. Vickie 03-07-2009, 03:54 PM Ok...not good. I haven't been on the treadmill yet and it's 2:00. Now I need to make the applesauce and soup. Uh oh. Vickie 03-07-2009, 03:54 PM Hey.....I'm talking to myself here. ontarget 03-07-2009, 05:33 PM Maryann, I got tickled at your talking about tunafish for bfast. Would you believe I used to eat that back in 1969 when I first joined WW? I made Ziploc omelets this morning. Made them with ham. Vickie, I'm late but I'm here now. Thank you for the tips on the dizziness. I have had that exact same type. This time my eyeballs weren't bouncing around like they did before. I've been working in the yard most of the day. I bought Curtis a pink jasmine today at Lowe's. It smells heavenly. Well, our swinging birdfeeder is loaded with doves and they are swinging round and round. I'm guessing they'll be having dizzy spells, too. Tejas 03-07-2009, 06:12 PM ..just passing through...we've spent most of the day at the storage unit getting our stuff better labelled and boxed. We're going out to our friend's for dinner..she's the carb queen so there goes my three days on Core...oh well, it will be delicious... nancy237 03-08-2009, 01:35 AM Vickie....you are so funny!!! I woke up with a rotten headache. After taking sudefed and caffiene and and using a cold pack it went away. We spent the afternoon on the lake and grilled on the boat. The weather was a perfect spring day!! My college boy is home for spring break.:flow1: I will just try to maintain this week because I love cooking his favorites when he is home. Better get to bed since we lose an hour sleep tonight. Vickie 03-08-2009, 09:42 AM Good Morning Chicks! I didn't sleep great last night. Gynie sent me my test results which I made the mistake of looking at. Since I don't know what they mean all they did was scare the living daylights out of me. Of course, I can't make any kind of an appointment or see anyone until Monday. Oh brother. They Gynie only mentioned my thyroid and my cholesterol, but there are other high numbers. I finally got on the treadmill around 3:00 yesterday. Jim and I thought it might help my stress level since I was practically hyperventilating. I got the applesauce made but no soup. I'll make the soup today. Rhonda, I hope you enjoyed the dinner at your friend's house. It's only one meal. You'll get back on program. Sandra, pink jasmine sounds wonderful. You'll have to post pictures of your yard once it is in bloom. How are you feeling? Nancy, sounds like a migraine? I can't remember where you live that you were able to be on a boat at this time of year. We'd hit ice here in Chicago! Enjoy your Son's visit and just try to be as good as you can. Drink your water everyone. ontarget 03-08-2009, 12:01 PM Nancy, enjoy your college boy's being home. Life is good. Vickie, I wish I could have been there to help you destress. Try not to worry too much till you go to the doctor and find out what the results mean. Getting on the :tread: was wise. What are you planning for today? We were hoping for rain but it's looking like it won't happen today so I'll be out in the yard in a bit. Rhonda, so what did the carb queen have to offer? Last night Curtis and I went into Grandview for an old-fashioned ice cream cone. He also got a Hershey bar and chocolate milk. I just had the cone but it was huge. I need to get off here and go talk to my rosebushes. I'll catch you later. Tejas 03-08-2009, 12:22 PM ...the carb queen has done worse that last night. It was swiss steak, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cherry pie! I mostly had the meat and a dab of the potatoes and green beans. I had 1/8 of the pie for dessert...not good, not awful.. I have another day at the storage unit and visiting my former MIL... BBL, Rhonda twestra 03-08-2009, 08:09 PM Hi all. I finally made it back to healthy eating. I have been pretty bad the last 3-4 months, and decided I have to get back on track. I rejoined ww yesterday and gained 20 pounds back. I was surprised that I didn't gain the whole 32 back so I was happy about that. With the new plan they want you to start back with the momentum plan and I decided it was probably a good thing to do so I can get used to the portion sizes I should be eating. But my leader told me if I wanted to start the simply filling plan before the 6th week, just ask and they will give me the materials early. I was starving most of the day yesterday but stuck to points limit and got in all my healthy guidelines. I am mostly still eating "simply filling" foods though. Today, I wasn't as hungry as yesterday. Glad to be back with you girls. This time I need to stick to it all the way to goal. Hope I can make it!! coco99 03-08-2009, 09:17 PM Hi Everyone Not much happening this weekend. Yesterday. A guy that our son works with. Came and cut down 3 trees for us. They were close to the main road. And limbs kept falling from them when the wind blew. So thought it was time to have them taken down. Then afterwards we took our son out to eat. Friday was his birthday. Went to Chili's. Had the guiltless grilled chicken. Was very good. Then went to Wal Mart so he could get stuff for his bucket. Then today we went to church. Had lunch. Then we went to see where there was a big field fire late yesterday. But we couldnt find it. There was so many little roads off the one we were on. Didnt know which road to take. But had a nice Sunday drive. Then went to bother in laws. Then came home. That has been it. Pretty boring. TWESTRA Glad to have you back. TEJAS How is the storage thing coming. Sounds like you did alright with the eating. It is so hard to go to someone else's place to eat. ONTARGET Glad they found out what was going on with you. Glad it was only the meds. Hope you have a good time in Louisville. BEACHBUM Good luck tomorrow. Will be thinking of you. NANCY237 Hope your headache is gone. And hope you have a good time with son. Well I am going to get off here for now. Hope everyone is doing ok. Thinking of each of you. coco ontarget 03-08-2009, 10:16 PM Coco, happy birthday to ds. You have my curiosity up.
