A new month is a great thing . . . but actually seeing some signs of SPRING would be even better. :D
Don't know whether it's just this year or the fact that I'm getting older, but boy this Winter is really dragging. Actually so far the day is not all that 'lion-like' -- just a few flurries on top of the overnight freeze-up of all of yesterday's rain.
Definitely hope I get my weight-loss efforts back on track in March . . . I seem to have spent January and February in 'maintenance mode'. Could be worse, of course, but it could be a lot better, too.
Here;s to a great month for all of us, gang . . . :carrot:

Guess our lion arrived after all -- things are definitely looking all white and fresh out there -- a little too white and fresh for my tastes. :s:
At least I had a good OP eating day yesterday so that got the month off to a decent start. Hopefully I can string another one onto it today. I'm getting awfully sick of this "maintenance" rountine I seem to have been practicing so far this year.
Other than that -- nothing exciting for me -- guess I'll knit some socks.

Good morning ladies,
I'm more than ready for Spring, have been for 2 months now. We missed all the snow, got a blizzard of flurries but that was it. I was greatful.
Weekend eating was horrible. My weeks are perfect, but I totally blow it on the weekend. I have to find a way to get through the weekends OP. We love to eat out and I go wild.
Meowee, :balloons: Happy belated birthday.
Toni, glad you kept that snow there and didn't send it to me.
Crystle, rabbit stew? Glad I missed that meal. I used to fry the rabbit my Dh hunted but not now.
Tech, you crack me up.

Have a great day.

Well sitting here having a cup of tea before I get busy on dinner. I'm making pork fried rice. Hope it comes out good. I love it when it turns out right. Need to get busy on housework stuff tomorrow. And also packing a box for my son in Iraq.
Tech- Now Tech that is cold.
Meowee-Wishing you luck on staying on SB.
Solly- I tried hard to sent you this snow but it was a no go. There's a big sheet of ice hanging from our roof. Hope it doesn't slide off and chop our cat up.
Okay off to cook.

Howdy ya'll. Boy was it a long day. Plenty of spring things to keep me busy, plus I made the laundry soap before we totally ran out. :) Eating has been decent, not excellent but I'll get there. At least that is what I tell myself. It was cool today but the rest of the week looks pretty warm so walking should start back soon.
Solly...the rabbit gumbo is very good. It also has shrimp and sausage. When you find the tricks for making it through the weekend please share them. We have a bible study on Sat. night and there is always such wonderful food.
Toni...What kind of tea do you like? I love this green tea with lemon grass by Good Earth.
Tech...I'm laughing so hard thinking of frozen nose hairs....that is just way TOO cold.
Meowee...wtg with good eating to start the new month.
Ellen...how is that precious grand baby of yours?
Kalicat and JadeMarlen...hello, I don't believe we've meet before, nice to meet you.
((Everybody)) Time to start winding down for the day. I hope and pray each of ya'll has a FANTASTIC day tomorrow.

Hello, everyone! I just have a minute before I hop in bed to say hello. The weekend was really busy. I had company for dinner Friday night, company Saturday, and then Sunday my daughter and her husband came over with the baby. I spent the day holding the baby, or cooking! :) It snowed a lot here. It is very cold tonight and there is some snow left, but most of it has melted.
Eating is so so.
I ordered some cheese making supplies and I am all gung ho to make some other cheeses. I tried a marscapone, but I messed it up. I know what I did wrong, so will try again. The ruined batch actually tastes like ricotta, so I don't think it will go to waste.
Good night! I will try and check in tomorrow.

Hi ladies,
It is as cold here today as it was yesterday. Brr. I am so tired of this. It is supposed to be 70 on Saturday so that will be nice except I will be stuck inside cleaningmy DD's house all day.
Got up and went to the gym this morning and did 30 minutes of cardio. I have to go back tonight for my trainer so I should get anothe 20 minutes of cardio in. Tomorrow will be hard to get up after being there twice in one day.
Eating was good yesterday. Stayed at my calorie level. I snacked a lot, but they were ok snacks and nothing bad.
Toni, glad you held onto that snow. Now send me some warm weather.
Ellen, I can't beleive how much snow you all got. Good thing it is melting. You all probably don't know what to do with it down there.
Crystle, you are just Little house on the Prairie. Making your own soap, growing your food, eating rabbits. I love that period of time, but don't think I would have survived.
Off to get started here. Have a great OP day.

Good afternoon. Having my last cup of coffee before I make breakfast/lunch here. Then I guess I'd better start the laundry. Tonight is leftover soup so I don't have to worry about dinner. I always try to have an easy dinner on Biggest Loser night. Steve gets home for his dinner at 7 right when they start. So if I have an easy dinner I can watch my program. I've had a battle with cookies. I should have never have bought them.
Crystle- I just love hearing what you're making. I love green tea with lemon also. Some times I will drink constant comment tea for a change.
Ellen- wow you're busy busy. Can't wait to hear how the cheese turns out.
Solly- Good going gal on the exercise. Man its so great you have a trainer. Can you tell a difference yet in how its working. There must be some good changes.
Well better cook before we starve here. LOL

Good morning, just finished my pb toast and coffee for breakfast. i think it is one of my favorite breakfasts (other than bisquits & gravy, pancakes). I guess I should say favorite OP breakfast.
Did not go to the gym this morning. I woke at 3:00 to go to the bathroom and my leg and toe were killingme. The dog was lying on the blankets and I could not get warm or back to sleep. I moved him and before I knew it, he was right back between us hogging up the room. So I was too tired, plus I went there twice yesterday and I think my body had enough. It may be nice enought to take a walk tonight I hope.
Toni, What a twist last night in the BL. I bet Mike did not lose enought to put them over. I kept thinking they would make it as it was getting close to 10:00 and I knew there was not enough time to vote someone off, then they flash up to be continued. That was so sweet of Mike to give Audrey his groceries. I think this year all of the people are nice and they get along so well. Unlike past years. I couldn't stand it last year with all that fighting and turmoil. I think it is a good motivating show. Now if I just follow the examples they set.
Meowee, be careful if you go out today with all that ice. We are supposed to hit 70 tomorrow. Yeah, Spring is close!
To everyone else  Have a great day.

Hi . . .
Yep . . . it is cold and it is icey and, just to obscure the ice a bit and make things even more dangerous out there, we have about 1/2 inch of new snow. :yikes: Glad I don't have to go anywhere. At least we do have a little sporadic sunshine.
Working on day 4 and the silly scale- says I've lost three pounds in three days. Of course, it's just some water stripping out no doubt and will probably come back and leave again a few times before the month is over. BUT, it does make me feel good at least for the moment.

Howdy my SB buddies. I hope ya'll are having an AWESOME day and if it isn't going too well right now I pray it gets better. It has warmed up outside to about 70 degrees. Perfect weather for getting some things done outside and here I sit.. :) That's okay when I get finished saying hello I'm going to search for a whole wheat sourdough recipe. My starter is ripe and ready to use. :D
I started taking my raw apple cider vinegar today so I'm looking up more information on that. It wasn't too gross. Had it not been first thing in the morning it wouldn't have been half bad. The house smells like spring. There are purple hull peas and okra cooking on the stove. I seasoned them with olive oil instead of meat drippings. I'm really trying to get back to cooking and eating healthy and quit making excuses. Tomorrow I have to make brownies for my son's birthday but they won't be a problem.
You guys are totally awesome and I'm so blessed to be able to come and read how ya'll are struggling as well as succeeding in your diet plans. Which by the way...WTG MEOWEE!!!! Three pounds is great. Hi to All,
I have been reading the posts, but not replying. SPRING sure better come, we've had enough winter and snow..... It is slowly warming up here in PA, it has been sunny and that helps.
I have been keeping track on Sparkpeople, and they have a sight for Bellydancers. I have been exercising and doing belly dancing, that has helped to get me back on track. I took 3 years of bellydancing and it is fun. There are no classes around here, so just doing it for exercise and fun. I have been 3 days on program and exercising. I do have to stay stedfast.
Crystle, Solly was right about the food you fix....it really sounds good.
Hope you are all doing well, check in again tomorrow, and hopefully day 4 will be a success.
Blessings to all, Sue ; - )

Good morning
It is supposed to be in the high 60's today! Yipee! Made it to the gym this morning and got my wt training done. Now if it would warm up I could walk at night. Tonight I have to go to church to do the pies and slaw for the fish fry tomorrow night. So it will be too dark to walk when I get home.
Things have slowed doen here at work so I can breathe a little bit now.
Meowee, congrats on the 3 lbs. Any time the scale moves down is great no matter if it is only water. Hope it keeps you motivated.
Crystle, I tried the vinegar thing for a few days. It got old quickly. I can smell that break from here. Wish I was closer to share it with you.
Candoit, I track my food on Spark People also. It is a great tool. I have friends on the board there and they are trying to get me to post there but I can't get into the way they post. It is different than here and I am so used to this way. If I get more time, I may try to get into it more. Glad you found a spot there. Bellydancing is great exercise.
Guess I better get started. Have a great day.

I tried fishing this morning but the wind was blowing too hard. But it was nice to skip chores and go out to the pond and just reflect on all that God has given us. I'm such a blessed woman.
Solly...the vinegar is really good. It's a special kind of apple cider vinegar with the mother in it and I mix it with my morning fiber and at lunch with honey so it's actually very tasty considering. My husband is the pickiest person about sour things and he was able to take his this morning...of course he had about three times the honey as I use. He uses honey for his allergies. What I call tasty he says is tolerable. :) You amaze me at how faithful you are with your workouts...I wish I wish I wish I could get that motivated again. Maybe if my energy levels comes up from the dietary changes I'm making.
Sue..how cool that you belly dance. I think that is such an awesome dance.

:carrot: :carrot: Today was a pretty good day, withstood all the candy and good looking, bad stuff at the grocery store. I have been good with my plan for 4 days, thank the Lord for that... my exercising last night really did my arm in. I had a hard time sleeping because it hurt so much. Guess I will have to call the DR tomorrow and get it checked out:dizzy:
Crystle, fishing at a pond does sound relaxing and fun.
Belly dancing is fun even for an oldie like me, it makes me so mad that my shoulder is so bad. It is really hard to belly dance and not use your arms, I just have a hard time. isn't it something, when i get back into exercise that is fun and active, something goes wrong;)
Solly, glad to hear all is well. i certainly don't want to let me being on Sparkpeople stop me from being in touch with my Sugar Shakers  this is my home site.
I will need prayers for strength for ice cream and cake tomorrow. It is my sons 36th birthday and his daughter (my grandaughter) 4 th birthday. I ordered the cakes, Quinlyn's has 3 princess' on it, and one lights up. She is in love w/princess' and she said she is not going to be 4, but 16.
David's cake is yellor with chocolate icing,,,,,,, doesn't sound as good as
Quinlyns, but thats his fav. I had the cakes made so I wasn't tempted to pick while I was baking....now I am setting my mind to just have a small dish of ice cream and not sugary sweet cake and icing.....
well that is the plan.

Welcome to the mud season. Bleh. I love snow...I love summer...I just hate the in between blech. It rained here most of the weekend. My back yard is a disaster.
Shelley is on week five of school woes. She hasn't been to school except for Thursday and Friday of last week she made it till 4th period. She hyperventilates so dramatically. She takes Xanax to get over the episodes, but since it's a tranquilizer, it wipes her out. She's also just had her Prozac doubled as the 10mgs she was taking didn't really help much. I was posting for help on the Depression forum, but when I mentioned the place I was taking her to over the summer was really skeevey and the people that were there were kind of skirvvy, one woman made it clear to me that I was offensive and so I refuse to post there anymore. Seriously, one of the last times we went to that place, a kid was taken away in handcuffs by three cops!! It was scary...but this woman was offended that I was describing the place, so I won't go to that forum anymore for help. I have Shelley going to a new place and we like it there better. Anyone here know anything about meditation? I've read up on it and it says we have to make an altar? All I can think of is the Buddah shrine they have at my nail place.
Anyway...Shelley just convinced me to take her into school after I take Kyle in to school, which will get her in the middle of second period. Last Thursday and Friday I had to stay with her in school and hang out in the conference room so she'd feel comfortable. I just don't have time for this, though. Derek has to get Kyle ready for school when I do that and I just wish we could get things back to normal...I get up, get Shelley up, I make lunches, she gets on the bus, I watch the news until Kyle gets up, I take him in to his school and I either get to work cleaning the house, doing laundry or going to work. At this pace, I'm not even able to go to work...I have to stay at school or stay home to help Shelley....she doesn't like to stay home by herself because she doesn't like to be alone...
I dunno...I have to go get Kyle ready for school now...and we're all exhausted from the time change.
TTFN!! Wish I wasn't such a Debbie Downer..... :(

I have been bad since Saturday, not eating on plan, not exercising.
Thursday and Friday my right arm and shoulder hurt terribly.:(
Went today to Ortho surgeon and he did xrays and MRI. Feels I have a torn rotator cuff. Will see him again Friday, hope therapy will help and don't have to have surgery. I had my left side done with lots of pain and 5 months physical theray. The doctor now as an orthoscopic? procedure that is not has harsh as old surgery and recovery is faster? I just hate to miss more work. Every year for the past 4 years, I have had to take time off for surgeries.......

Hey everyone!
This has been an unusually busy week. Yesterday, I went to a new doctor. He specializes in metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and hypertension. The office was very efficient, and the doctor was nice, though a bit abrupt. I don't care about his bedside manner if he can help me. He looked over my meds, and clucked to himself. Seems some of what the last doctors put me on are hindering my chances for success, and not doing so great a job of helping my blood sugar issues. He switched a lot around and I can already see a difference. So I am feeling encouraged. Getting weighed on their scale was not fun, but it does match mine here at home.
I am off to do some work, but will try and check in later! :grouphug:

Ellen, I'm glad you are seeing results from the new doc. The surgeon who did my breast reconstruction had a horrible bedside manner, but he was the best there was and that was all that was important. I wasn't going to live with him.
Meowee, I have those hungry days every day. Hope you do better than me.
Crystle, I hope you all don't pass that nasty bug to everyonme in the family. Hope your mama comes home soon. I got to walk 2 nights this week and now it is cold again. Plus I have plantar fascitis in my heel and I can hardly walk around.

Okay...so, Shelley is off to school today with barely any hyperventilating at all this morning. She's been to school every day this week, but every morning, she's a total wreck and I have to really force myself to get her there and then the nurse takes over and takes her to class where she has learned to control herself and ends up having a good day. Today was the first day where she went in and didn't have to have me hold her up due to her week knees. Yesterday she had me up at 4am with her breathing and help her calm down, which she never did calm down, and then I had to take her in like that and leave her. I tell you...i was in tears every day this week once I got her into school and was on my way home. I hate leaving her there like that, but today was a total triumph. I couldn't be more pleased with her progress.
I got the Lucinda Bassett set from a friend yesterday. Everyone I've talked to that has Shelley's exact problem says this system really changed their lives...but its upwards towards $600 bucks...so I'm going to sit down today and take a peek at it and see how it all goes for me/Shelley. As for me, I'm just exhausted and need a nap desperately.
Okay...TTFN...happy Friday the 13th!!

Good morning ladies,
Friday at last and Friday the 13th at that! watch out for black cats!
Didn't sleep much last night. I has sick at my stomach all evening and when I went to bed I could not go to sleep. I got up at 12;30 and took a sleeping pill and read for 30 minutes and then went back to bed. So I didn't get up and go to the gym today. But I was still nauses and didn't t hink I should push it. Feeling some better after 2 cups of cinnamon tea. No plans for the weekned other than getting my driver's license renewed.
Tech, I'm so glad Shelley did better this week. I think you are right in making her go. I wish you could get to the root of her problem for her sake. I have never heard of Lucinda Bassett. I assume it is for anxiety. Good luck to her.
Meowee, great job staying OP all week. Keep up the good work.
Toni, Could you beleive the Biggest Loser this week? That would be so me going way off plan like they did. Boy did they get yelled at. I thought sure the blue team would win.

More thoughts on Shelley...The prozac is giving her really vivid dreams, so she's not sleeping well at night, which doesn't help. Lucinda Bassetts tapes are for anxiety/agoraphobia. I'm pushing her because what I've learned about agoraphobia tells me that it is a gradual thing and if not nipped in the bud as soon as possible, eventually, Shelley won't even want to leave the house to go to the mall or to walk near the river or anything. It's a gradual process. It started for Shelley in about 7th grade when she's sweat profusely from her armpits practically to her waistline. Then she started having shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats. Then the 'mondayitis' started to kick in in the form of crying herself to sleep on Sunday nights because she didn't want to go to school the next day. The pediatrician started to put things together as we took her in for each symptom and sent her to the psychologist and she was diagnosed with this phobia. Agoraphobia is the fear of being away from home and also the fear of crowded places. If you have ever been to Cape Vincent, it would be hard to think someone could be afraid of crowded places around here because its hard to just get three people even on the street at the same time, much less find a crowd! But! The other day I took Shelley to school to meet with a tutor and we ended up in the hallway where it was shoulder-to-shoulder packed with rude teenagers trying to get to class. And where is Shelley afraid to be? School. It all is starting to fall into place now and make sense. Derek still wants me to homeschool Shelley, but from what I've been told by the school nurse, letting her escape from this fear will only make it worse. The school nurse had Agoraphobia to the point that she didn't leave her house for a very long time for her fears. She knows what she's talking about. If anything, shelley NEEDS school as a tool to get passed what she's afraid of there. Otherwise, she'll never be able to go to college or get a job or be successful of anything if we allow this fear to take over.
Anyhow...its my day off and I'm supposed to be cleaning and here I sit at the 'puter gabbing away.
TTFN!! Will be back later once I feel like I've accomplished something... :s:

OMG...I just took a self-assessment test from the Lucinda Bassett website and this is what they said about me. Uncanny how accurate it is...especially the crying part:
You feel sad and melancholy at times and you can’t always pin point a reason. You probably find you have less energy and sometimes it takes all your effort to get excited about anything. Sometimes the simplest activities, such as getting ready to go out, or sexual activity are just too much effort. You cry easily, you're emotionally sensitive, and you feel the pain of the world. You may have a hard time sleeping, either falling asleep, or staying asleep, or possibly you’re sleeping too much. Possibly you aren’t eating or you’re overeating. You might find you get irritable and impatient. Possibly you feel bad about yourself and your life at times, and you feel like there aren’t any answers.
Every sentence in here is accurate. Maybe I'll even get some use out of these CDs!!

Good afternoon ya'll. We are all feeling SO much better. Thank you for your prayers. It is wet and cold here so no new planting until next week.
Solly...I hope your tummy feels better soon. Do you have the heel problem always or just from time to time?
Tech...I hope that Shelly continues to win her battle with anxiety.
Toni...hang in there with the eating. You'll get back on track. Winter is hard for everybody I think. A lot of the foods that are tasty when it is warm are not pleasant in winter. I love a good salad but when it's freezing I don't want lettuce I want things that warm my tummy. :)

Were is everyone today,,,,,,Happy Saturday:hug:
Well, my rotator cuff is torn 60% through :( Due to my age, the DR recommends surgery. He said therapy would not work, and remainder of piece will eventually pull apart. Dr gave me a cortizone shot, and that has helped the pain, and I can lift my arm better. ;) I just have to be careful I don't use it too much and tear the remainder out.
I go back to work on Monday, and have to tell them I again need another surgery, and will be off 8 weeks.... this is my 5 operation in 12 years of working my job.
Crystle = glad everyone is better  How is you Mom doing? Have a great Sunday.....
Meowee = you are doing great, eating OP. Keep up the good work. Glad it is sunny eventhough still cold. :dizzy:
Tech = hope Shelly is coming along and you can get some answers for her. Is that really you ? I will have to try that sight, sounds almost like me. Keep the faith, as my Aunt Grace always said.
Toni = hope you are doing and feeling better. Keep your chin up, sometimes it is just hard to stay focused......Blessings
Ellen = so glad thing went well with your new MD. Medicine can really affect how you feel and act. Hoping this is the start of an upward trend. Take Care.
Solly = Are you doing better? Sleepy better? Sure hope so.
Blessings and Happy Sunday to All :carrot:

Good evening; Made a really good homemad pizza for dinner. Used candian bacon, mushrooms, onions and cheese for the topping. Also made Steve some cream cheese rollups that he loves. I'm still tired today from yesterdays shopping trip. But tomorrow I have no excuse for not doing the laundry. Hope everyone is having a good week end.

Hi there . . . :grouphug:
Wow, I'm still eating well. The carbs did sneak up a bit too high for a couple of days, but the calories have remained 'in range'. Sometimes I amaze myself. Haven't seen any further scale movement in the past couple of days though -- might be connected to the carb overages.
BUT . . . I have faith . . . in fact, I have faith in us all. We can do this so long as we just continue to do our best as much as possible, Chickies.
I also have faith in Mother Nature -- we are having another mostly sunny day and the temperature is expected to sneak up to slightly above freezing. Not exactly Spring-like yet, but eventually it will show up.
Have a great rest of the weekend, gang . . . :carrot:

Read this article on Agave on another board and thought you guys might be interested as I know several of you use it and are diabetic.
I bought some agave nectar to use for sweetener and it really is good but then I decided to research it. I really should do the research first. It is not good for you espcecially if you are a diabetic.
"High fructose from agave or corn will kill a diabetic or hypoglycemic much faster than refined white sugar," says Mr. Bianchi. "By eating high fructose syrups, you are clogging the veins, creating inflammation, and increasing body fat, while stressing your heart. This is in part because refined fructose is foreign to the body, and is not recognized by it."
"Without the FDA making efforts to enforce food-labeling laws, consumers cannot be certain that what they are eating is even what the label says it is. New sweeteners like agave syrup (refined fructose) were made to coin a profit, and not to help or assist vital health. Due to the lies from many companies who sell agave syrup (refined fructose), you have been led to believe that it is a safe and a natural sweetener. The retail refined agave syrup label does not explain that it goes through a complicated chemical refining process of enzymatic digestion, which converts the starch into the free, man-made chemical fructose that has a direct link to serious the degenerative disease conditions so prevalent in our culture. While high fructose agave syrup won't spike your blood sugar levels, the fructose in it will cause: mineral depletion, liver inflammation, hardening of the arteries, insulin resistance leading to diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, obesity, and may be toxic for use during pregnancy. to read the article go to:

Happy Monday Ladies!
Actually, It isn't so bad for a Monday. Woke up at 5:00 and got up and went to the gym. Didn't mind getting up or working out. For a Monday that is unusual. Could only do upper body as my foot is worse. We went to dinner Sat night and DH let me out at the door and I stepped out onto the curb so he could pass. When I did my foot slipped off the curb and I pulled that tendon even more. I grabbed onto the car as not to fall and Dh pulled off. I don't know what saved me from falling on my face. It was all I could do to hobble to the door of the restaurant. Went home and sat in the hot tub with my foot on the big jet hoping that would help. Spent most of yesterday sitting after hobbeling through the grocery. It is some better but not much. I am so mad as it is supposed to be so nice here for the next couple days and I could get out and walk at night. I don't see that happening. Thought about going to get a cortisone shot tp see if that helps. I may have to do that. Eating sucked over the weekend, but I am back on track today and trying very very hard to stay there.
Meowee, you are an inspiration. You are doing so good. Keep up the good work.
Toni, Your pizza sounds good. I can sometimes find ww crust at Meijers and I load it it up with mushrooms, onions and peppers. We had pizza last night but from the pizza place :no-no:
Candoit, I am so sorry you will have to have surgery. Hope your employer is sympathetic.
Tech, I hope Shelley can get some help from the tapes and the nurse. It helps to have someone that has gone through the same thing. That post from the tapes sounds a lot like me too.
Crystle, glad you are feeling better. No, the foot thing is something that just can pop up with anyone. Apparently it is caused from walking on concrete, bad shoes, overweight, etc. I have had it once before but a long long time ago. Funny thing is, 4 out of the 8 ladies in my bunco group have it and they have been talking about it for months. I didn;'t have it, so I swear I caught it from them. Ha-ha. The bad t hing is, it takes forever to get better and I am not a patient person.
Ellen, hope you had a good weekend. We are missing you.
Better get my day started here. Have a great one!

Hi . . . :grouphug:
I'm one of those Diabetics and I have honestly never even tried Agave Nectar. Must admit to sticking mostly with Splenda which has a slightly (only slightly) better reputation than some of the other artificial sweeteners. Seems to work okay for me.
Nothing too exciting around here -- it is School March Break week and I do have a few places I have to go. Everywhere will probably be clogged with small kids. At least the sun is shining again so maybe the nice day will keep some of them busy outside although it is getting colder rather than warmer around here again. Silly high temp is not expected to get about the low 20's.
Hope you have fun things on the go on this Monday. . . :carrot:

Considering our weekend eating has been okay. We lost my father in law to cancer Sat. night. He fought very hard for two years.
The sun is out today and it is beautiful. Hopefully it will dry things up for weekend planting. We did get some new babies Sat. We got two goslings and 6 chicks. The one gosling is an african and the other is going to be your typical white goose. I have no idea about the chicks. They only had straight run so I put my name on a list for some pullets when they come in. I may order some before then I haven't decided for sure. They are in the den but we'll be moving them out under the heat lamp very soon.
Solly..I'm so sorry that your foot is hurting. Praying that it doesn't' take too long to heal. I found the article interesting but I still prefer agave over sugar. I've read some good and some bad reviews. Daily I actually use a Stevia product for my tea.
I need to get my booty off the computer.

It's another nice and sunny but cold day around here and I guess I'll throw on some green clothing and make another trip to town for a couple of things I forgot yesterday. The ice in the harbour is starting to break up and I saw three beautiful bald eagles cruising the open area looking for fish yesterday as crossed the Causeway -- actually gives me hope that Spring will really, really get here.
Have a great day . . . :wave|:

Day 2 of OP eating  Foot is some better. Rolled it on a frozen water bottle for a couple hours yesterday and stretched the muscle with a beach towel for about an hour last night. it has seemed to help. Slowly.
Crystle, Deepest sympathy on the loss of your FIL. He is at peace and no longer suffering. I hope your family finds some peace in that.

We went to the store the other day and bought some awesome veggies to help make good eating easier. For lunch I think I'm going to make some asparagus, mushrooms, spinach, onion and bean sprouts. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Good morning ladies,
Today feels like a Monday instead of Wed. I did not want to get up and go to the gym last night, but I did. I am proud I did 30 minutes of cardio. I love strength training, but hate cardio. I need to find something I like.
Still hobbeling around. it is smome better but I guess it will take awhile.
Crystle, did you fix all those veggies mixed together. I love asparagus. Had some Monday for dinner. It was nice here yesterday and again today, almost 70. I love it. But I think the rain is coming tomorrow.
Toni, I almost bought a corn beef at the grocery. I love it and love a Reuben sandwich too. Did you see the BL last night? I was glad Sione won the $10,000. I actually hate to see anyone go home this season as I like them all. The transformation of the ones that go home blow me a way. So inspiring. Now if I could only keep that picture in my head all the time, I would be fine.
Got to get somem work done. I have bunco tonight and I plan to be so good. No dessert and only 1 glass of wine. Don't know what she is having, but if it is not low cal, then I am only doing half. Wish me luck.

Hi . . .
Another sunny day and we may work up to above freezing temperatures, too. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy but quite a bit milder. We'll see.
Had a major chocolate meltdown yesterday afternoon (darn those bunnies anyway). Just worked out my nutritional averages for the month so far and happy to say my 2286 total calories yesterday did NOT screw things up too badly. I'm still in good shape for the month. Average total calories are 1444 and percentages are running right on 40% carbs and 30% each for fat and protein. Sometimes you just get lucky I guess. Definitely cannot rest on my laurels though. I really, really want to be able to post a new decade by the end of the month. Right now I think I've had enough sugar to do me through April, too. :dizzy:
Yes, I do believe in the 'cycling' philosophy whether you are tracking calories, points, or something else. I just don't think it needs to be all pre-planned. For me, and most of us (probably), it just seems to happen.
Have a great day, gang . . . :carrot:

Good afternoon. Its been a beautiful day today. I went to a friends house for tea today. Tomorrow we're going to a huge salvage grocery store out of town. I can't wait to see it. Before I leave I'm putting chicken bones, celery, carrots, and other seasonings in the crockpot to make turkey soup for tomorrow night. I haven't tried it that way yet but think it will be good. Tonight is fish.
Solly- Yes I did watch BL last night and thought it was good. I was glad Sione won to. That was sure a strike of luck for him. I was so surprised Ron lost 10 lbs. It really is an inspiring show.

Its so pretty out today. My friend and I went to a big salvage store. They had a whole baking dept. Where I got stuff like gluten for bread making. If I had a grinder I could have bought my wheat there. They also had some lovely dried fruit. They also had the usual salvage groceries but I spent most my time in the baking dept. I'm sorry I didn't get get more grains for bread making. Its about an hour from here so hopefully I'll be able to go back again soon. We stopped and had lunch and it was horrible. But the day was fun and now I'm so tired. Got my pot of chicken and noodles made. I found homemade noodles in the bakery dept. too. So yum mo. I've taken a little nap in my chair so time to get busy..

Well, it is officially SPRING and, the sun is trying to shine in northeastern Nova Scotia. There is **** in the forecast for Monday/Tuesday though. a lot can change between now and then, of course.
I celebrated the start of this glorious new season by removing the 'blankie' I tack over my westerly facing, and very drafty, sunroom door. As I sit here in front of it, I fear I may have jumped the gun a little; but it definitely looks more spring-like in here. May trot off to town later on just because I can but other than that I honestly have no plans for the day.
How about you . . . any exciting 'vernal equinox' celebration plans?

Well, the tomatoes and various peppers are in the ground. I'm so excited because the feed store had two black krim tomato plants. They are a black tomato and are very tasty. The grape tomato plants already have blooms on them. :) We didn't get any mild peppers. The mildest would be the Anaheim peppers. I also started some seeds. My mother in law gave us some husked tomato and huckleberry seeds. Both are new to me so I'll be interested in seeing how they come out. The eggplants have sprouted so I'm hoping they will take. Today was also the first mowing of the season. I cheated and used the riding mower instead of pushing.
Toni...the salvage store sounds really cool. Have you used the wheat gluten before? I just got some the other day to add to my wheat recipe. I've never used it before but I'm hoping it will give me a little lift and make the bread a bit lighter.

Solly: Hi and have a good OP weekend.
Crystle: Your garden sounds wonderful. Such good things. And you got to mow grass for the first time:carrot: You lucky girl. That will be happening in a few weeks here in PA.
Toni: Love that kind of shopping.
Techmom: Hi, hope all is well.
Well as for me :?: I have been on a really bad sugar and chocolate binge..2-3 chocolate bars and 1 or 2 Lance peanut bars a day......
Well, let me tell you, I woke up last night at 2 AM with the worst sick headache, sick in my stomach and didn't know whether to lay down, sit up, or walk around. My hubby is so nice he got me hot coffee and encouraged me. Finally I could lay down flat and feel asleep, after about a horribe hour.
Well ;) needless to say, I am not eating any candy or chocolate, I learned my lesson. Don't have to hit me over the head with a brick, well just about:smug
So today I take my daughter out for her birthday lunch and a movie...and last night while I had this headache I thought about the Friendly's Reeses pieces sundae we usually get, and I could have thrown up... So I will have to order healthy and don't even think about a sundae or sweet dessert:?:
Needless to say I am up 7 1/2 lbs.
I did go to the hospital for my preadmission and I told the nurse what I had one. I said just but my weight at 220 and forget the 212 1/2 I was at. Well I weighed this AM and I am only a glowing 217 1/2 lbs.
I have my rotator cuff surgery on April 1st, what a joke. The cortizone has helped it will just feel really achy and tired.
Well I've blabbered enough,,,,,,good to check in again, funny how you stay away when your BAD...
Great Weekend to all,

I thought I'd pop in before the craziness of the day gets underway. It's a little nippy this morning but it should reach about 80 today. I'm pretty sure the swiss chard is starting to break ground. I say pretty sure because I haven't grown it before and it looks a little like grass. :) Eating has been good, exercise not so good, almost nonexistent. I really need to get moving. I'm soooo close to the 160's again.
Sue...I hear you about being bad. I used to run away a lot, but I think the key is to stick around even during the binges. It helps us to get back on track faster and keeps our damage down to a minimum. We all have our moments so it's good if we can share them together. I'm SO sorry that the shot didn't help your shoulder very much. Praying that it will be better soon.
It's time to get moving. I hope ya'll have a SUPER weekend.

Aw, thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! It was a ho hum day. I went out to lunch at the big farmer's market with a young friend. (they have a fabulous cafeteria there...and tons of veggies and weird stuff. So good!) The rest of the day went down hill. Tom came home feeling blah, and I felt blah, so we did not do anything. We went out for dinner tonight at a local place we have been meaning to try. It is in the old railroad station. The food was good. I got fried oysters...divine! I skipped the potatoes and had steamed broccoli and a steamed veggie medley that I hardly touched since it was mostly peppers and they just did not appeal to me. After dinner, we walked around the downtown area and stopped in at a pottery gallery and looked around. It was rather nice.
We are going to go down to south Georgia and clean out Tom's uncle's house with his mom next weekend. His uncle died a few months back and the house sold, so we have to get what we want out of it fast! It is going to be a major undertaking and I am not looking forward to it. We plan to replace our bedroom furniture with some of his, and I dread cleaning and moving everything in my room! (its a mess!)
I need to go catch up on posts...

Yup...I have the WiiFit. I love it...when I can use it. Problem is that one has to commandeer the TV and get out the scale in order to use it. But I do love it when I can get to it.
Shelley's health has taken a turn for the worse again. Last Monday I took her to school and she was crying all the way there and asking to be taken to the hospital. So, I took her to school anyway and when we went it, the nurse took her by the arm into an exam room and said, "Goodbye, Mom!" and shut the door in my face. I waited there until the next period started in a conference room, bawling my eyes out. I checked in on her and she said she'd be okay, but had a massive headache, so I left, but still in tears. I felt terribly like I'd deserted her. Next day, I took her back and she was hyperventilating all the way in and she was a worse wreck than the week before. They managed to get her into first period, but she was a wreck.
Problem is that when she gets going in school, she can mask how she feels so that everyone thinks there's no problem. On the outside, she's normal Shelley, but on the inside, she feels trapped in class and wants to run outside and get away. With Agoraphobia, one of the #1 fears is that you will have an attack in a place where you cannot escape from. They have told her that she can leave class without asking the teacher...but she doesn't want to because she'll leave, go to the nurse and she'll tell her she's fine and get back to class.
After a day of holding in her panic attacks, she gets home and lets loose what she's been feeling inside and spends the entire evening hyperventilating and the night is spent having nightmares and the mornings are spent with her hyperventilating and with me having to assist her into the shower, sit in the bathroom with her because she feels like she's suffocating from the steam, help her get dressed, help her with her hair, try and get her to eat a few bites of breakfast and take her to school...all the while listening to her hyperventilate. Its horrible. She gets to school and puts on her game face and starts the cycle over again.
So, I took her to the psychiatrist for her two week check up and he suggested she stay out of school for two more weeks and switched her medication. The principal is PO'd at this because, "When she's here, she seems totally fine...the teachers see no problem with her when she's here! I want her back at school tomorrow!" So, I told him to talk to my doctor. I feel exactly like a rope in a tug of war. The principal, who is worried about her grades, wants her there...whereas my family and my doctor think she should be home to let the new medication take its time to work. I've been exhausted to the point of feeling sick...and eating like a :moo: and growing out of my size 16s (for a while there a few years ago, I was a size 12). This is taking a huge toll on our whole family. I wish it would end soon.
Okay...update over. I have to go sit with my coffee.
TTFN!!

Happy Monday
Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was so nice here. Sunny and warm. Eating was so so. Not as good as I wanted.
Ellen, hope you are feeling all bette. Your dinner sounded nice. Glad you got to do something for your birthday.
Tech, what a nightmare youa re going through. I pray you can find some answers and Shelley can starting feeling better.
Crystle, that garden is going to be bursting at the seams. Everything sounds so good.
Candoit, sorry the shot did not help much. what a day to have surgery.
Meowee, sorry to hear snow is in your forcast again. When are you in the clear for sure.
I apologize for any crazy typing. My keyboard is not working and I got another one and it doesn't work well either. Have a great day.

Yep . . . it's snowing . . . and 10 to 12 inches is predicted. I have to go to the doctor this afternoon and to the dentist first thing tomorrow morning; so naturally the weatheris being totally uncooperative. At least I don't have far to go for either appointment.
We usually get at least one snowfall of some significance early in April, but that never lasts long. After that things are fine until Halloween.

Howdy ya'll. I just got in from the garden. Jess and I planted the okra, corn, big Jim pepper, green eggplant, zucchini, Thai basil, pineapple sage and sunflowers. There are still several things that we need to plant but I'm being lazy. :) It's suppose to rain tomorrow so what doesn't get done today will have to be done either later in the week or next week. I'm hoping I can get motivated and at least get the Burgundy beans planted. It is only a little seed pack. :)
Lunch was yummy...a combo of broccoli, mushrooms, bean sprouts, fresh ginger and fajita seasoning. I also had a few saltines...a no no but I didn't go too overboard with them.
Solly...hope you get a decent keyboard. I know it's a pain to try to do your job with bad tools.
Tech...My heart aches for Shelly. She is in a place I wish I couldn't relate to but it is familiar. ((Tech)) Hang in there. There is hope and I pray that God will give the doctors wisdom as they treat her and those people at school will soften in their view because it is obvious they can not relate.
Ellen...WiFit sounds fun. I'd like the kids to be more active instead of just sitting playing games.
Love and hugs,

Just a lazy boring day around here. I did vacum the floor but have not done much of anything else today. I went to town and got the stuff for a taco soup tomorrow and stopped by a friends for a couple cups of green tea. And took a nap in my chair.
Ellen- I'll bet that wii fit is so much fun. Don't know if I could use it but sure would like to try.
Tech- My prayers for you and Shelley. I can't imagine what you're going through. And poor Shelley. You're a good Mom.
Solly- Oh dear you need a new keyboard fast. Hope you get it fixed.....
Crystle- Wow I envy you getting a wonderful garden out. Mine all goes in pots but its just not time yet. Am going to get a pot of chives started this week.
Sue- Hi hope you're doing well. Will send up a little prayer for your surgery.

:carrot: I made it through my 2nd day of being sugar free and eating in calorie range. Didn't even get cravings :dizzy:
Used my arm too much on Saturday, so wore my sling on Sunday. Felt pretty good today. Surgery is April 1st :o Does that say anything about me?
Toni - everyone needs a lazy day to catch up and rest. Don't feel guilty.
Crystle - doesn't sound like your lazy by any chance. Your veggies sound sooooo good. Hope the rain is over soon, but your garden will grow.
Tech - so sorry to hear about all Shelly is going through. Praying the meds will help and life can get back in order. Don't feel bad about keeping her out, there are always ways she can make up. Keep your chin up.
Solly - hang in there and let the sun shine and brighten your day :)

Good morning ladies. Still pounding on this stupid keyboard. Hope I get one ordered today.
Got to sleep in today b/c I have my trainer tonight. That extra hour felt great and was needed.
Meowee, :fr: I can't beleive you are getting 10-12" of snow. I would die.I hope you make it to your appts safely.
Crystle, Girl, lazy you are not You will be able to open your own produce market with as much stuff as you have planted.
Toni, I'd like to have a day like yours, but I just don't have the disposition to do that. I'm up doing something on every commercial. Plus, my legs drive me crazy so can't sit too long. Enjoy.
Candoit, don't overdue with your arm. You don't want to cause more problems before surgery. Congrats on 2 days OP. You can do this.
We have a a bid today so I better get started. Have a great op day.

No problem with getting to and from the doctor yesterday but I cancelled this morning's dentist appointment. It is ugly, ugly, ugly out there. Snowing and blowing to beat the band and I wouldn't be suprised if my end of the Province man ages to surpass the foot of snow that has been predicted. Hopefully this will be the last nastiness for this season.
Anyway, definitely a good day for an afternoon nap, I think . . . :lol3:

We got some much needed rain yesterday and hopefully we'll get a little more tonight. Several of the herb seeds are starting to sprout in the flower beds.
I had the best breakfast this morning. I cooked some breakfast sausage with onions, bell peppers, serrano pepper, celery, garlic and extra sage. Then when that was done I added some cubes yellow squash and zucchini. After it was done I topped with a little Parmesan cheese. We're gonna take the leftovers and mix with some rice tomorrow for dinner. I love when one meal can become two.
Solly...I pray that it all grows well so I can share with my family and my church family. I can't think of anything more fun than sharing.
Sue...WTG with two days under your belt. That's the way to do it...one day at a time. :) I'm sorry that your shoulder is bothering you. Continuing to keep you in my prayers.
Toni...a nap sounds good but today is one of those days where all the little things need to get done. The boys are helping a lot. Jess is pulling some carpet in my room so we can put in some flooring.
Tech...I hope things are looking up with your baby.

Crystle, at last you can be thankful for the rain making your garden grow. It is raining here too. Yesterday and today, tomorrow and lots more on Saturday. We will need a boat by Sunday.
Tech, hope Shelley is doing better.
Ellen, How is that new grandbaby? Haven't heard much about her lately.
Toni, Toni, did you watch the BL this week? I think my favorite is Mike. I would like for him to win it all.

How are ya'll this fine day? It's a little cloudy and nippy here in Texas this morning. I may have to cover my tomato and peppers tonight and tomorrow night. The lows are going to get close to freezing. The other things I have growing can handle a light freeze. It's going to start warming up again Monday. Eating has been pretty good. I did eat a little too much rice yesterday but it was GOOD. :) I cooked it in chicken broth with dried onions, sage, Cayenne and parsley. When it was done I added the left over sausage squash mixture.
I'm with you Solly I can't imagine that much snow. As much as we need the rain I'll be glad when it's over.

:carrot: Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the weekend... I am on day 5 of follwing program. Not doing to well on exercise.
I went to take a whirlpool bath on Wed night, and put all my weight on my right elbow, electrical pain.. I think I tore my shoulder more. Had to wait til AM to call about what pain med I could take with surgery coming up. Iced it and rested it all day, but now I can only move it about an inch out or up, so am in arm sling and started short term disability. Pain meds have helped, just going to be an adjustment not using my right hand and arm :?:
Cant't wait for surgery on Wednesday. My hubby is such a great help.
Crsystle - your sausage, rice and squash, you are so creative. Hope you garden grows well.
Mewoo - I can't imagine snow again, so glad your robin showed up.

The hummers were out in force after the rains today. I think the number is up to three or four. I heard some horrible noise coming from the gosling cage. Even the boys thought it was a snake. It was just the dark one chasing the light one. I can't wait until they are old enough to release. I feel like being able to get in the pond will help keep them safer. That is once the other ducks and goose take them in.
Hope ya'll are having a nice Friday night.

Oh well, everything is not bad in my little world this March -- blood sugar levels are hanging in there at good numbers as is the weight loss. Looks like I'll be able to move my ticker a whole 5 pounds downward tomorrow. Of course, I will wait until tomorrow just in case some good kind of miracle occurs today.

So, I'm sitting here feeling sick to my stomach from the brownies I just ate and figured it's about time to get my big butt back in gear. Eden is 10 weeks old now and I have NO EXCUSE!
Anyway, it's a little tough around here. I've been battling migranes and the allergy list has grown for the family. It's looking like I may have to start PT for my back again, but I am going to try to get back to the YMCA for water aerobics first. That always helped a lot for strengthening my back so I'm hoping to give that a month first. I'm going to the chiropractor once a week at least and having some massage therapy as well.
I'm still hovering on weight. I was 202 this morning :( but at least I can still wear the 14s. I've been walking a very little bit, several times a week. Like no more than 1.5 miles at a time.
Tomorrow is payday and I'm headed to the farmer's market to stock up. It's so intimidating. We can't have wheat, dairy, corn, tomotoes, peanuts and only trace amounts of soy. I feel like there is NOTHING to eat!! And 4 kids under 6 years old is seriously testing my limit of what I can handle. Especially with Lucas, otherwise known as Evil Kinevil-Houdini Boy. Ughh..
So I'm going to make a grocery list and try to plan meals in advance. I've never been good at that but we'll see.
Ellen- I'm sorry I missed your birthday. Hope it was great!
Tech- (((hug))) You are such a great mom for fighting so hard to get what your daughter needs.

Good morning ladies,
I thought I posted yesterday, but guess I didn't.
Nothing going on in my corner of the world. We had to make a liquor store run last night as a "sin tax" starts today on alcohol and cigarettes. You should have seen all the liquor stores on TV, they were packed. I don't think this is going to be helpful as it will only force Kentuckians to go across the river to Indiana to purchase their "sins".
We have a new BB coach today. The highest paid coach at that. Let's hope he's worth the money they paid him. Kentucky fans are tough.
Toni, looks like you will have anothr dog. Once you feed them, it is hard to get rid of them.
Talitha, I can't imagine trying to find food your whole family can eat with all the allergies. I can't find food now w/o allergies.
Cryslte, what do you use cinnamon basil in? I have never heard of it. I am sure your DD will lover her garden. You are starting her out right.
Meowee, I feel for you with that nasty weather. I am sooo ready for warm weather and we are a lot closer than you guys. Soon, jusst rememer that.

What a pretty day we're having. I went to town to mail a package for my son in Iraq and enjoyed getting out. I hear it may rain tomorrow. So I'm enjoying today. Think tomorrow I'll make a pot of 15 bean soup. But today I've got chicken and think I might roll them in some whole wheat panko crumbs and cook in a tiny bit of olive oil and have it with salad. My body is craving some healthy food.
Talitha- I can't imagine how awful it would be to have to cook in such a restricked way. Each day must be hard to figure something out. I sure admire you...
Solly-Yea I wonder if liquor went up here too. I'll have to see when I go to buy wine in a couple of weeks. But I did see at the store today for three cartons of cigarettes it was 146.33. I was shocked. And so happy I no longer smoke. I couldn't even imagine spending almost 50. a carton.
Thunder-:welcome: I'm glad you've joined us. Tell us something about you. I'm married and my children are all grown. I've been around since 2000. This is a great place to be. And a wonderful group of ladies.

Good morning! Yes, I have been MIA. Life has been crazy and I am SO ready for a break!
This past weekend, we rented a huge truck and went down to south Georgia to clean out Tom's deceased uncle's house. We brought back tons of furniture, and other items. I plan to have an estate sale for the things we don't want. Since my daughter and her husband are supposed to be moving out, they need furniture. They will take some of it, and I am going to take the dining room suit. In the meantime, the two car garage is stuffed to the rafters, and there is furniture in den, piled up and pushed to the wall. The TV is about inaccessible. We were all totally exhausted when we got back on Sunday night, but had to unload the truck and return it. I totally vegged out Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday, I tried to catch up some, wrote out menus for the week, and did a bit of shopping. Today, my daughter was supposed to come over with the baby but she called me early to tell me she got no sleep last night, so she is not coming. :(
Diet wise, I am doing well. My new doctor wants his patients to follow a particular diet that is basically a 1200 calorie a day diet. I am finding it challenging, but when I stick to it well, I see a good improvement with my blood sugar levels, so I feel more motivated. I follow good SB form with it..no whites, avoiding corn and potatoes, eating all whole grain, etc. The first two weeks I was going to this new doctor I lost 6.5 pounds. I am not really excited about it yet, since he also started me on a diuretic.
It is overcast and looks rainy again today. I am thankful that it is washing the pollen out of the air, but it would be nice to see some sunshine. I can't believe it is April already! In another few weeks, the pool will be open and I can start swimming!
Oh, and the weirdest thing happened. This new doctor totally chewed me out for walking 30 minutes a day! To cure insulin resistance, he told me you have to start at 10, no matter how long you have been walking, and slowly build. So, I am now walking only 10 minutes a day. Next week, I go up to 15 minutes for two weeks, then up to 20. I was a bit shocked, but I know this guy is an expert in metabolic problems, so I am doing what he told me to do. Amazingly, my blood sugars dropped dramatically as soon as I cut back!
:grouphug:
TECH: How heartbreaking for you and Shelley! I think you follow the doctor's orders and tell the principal to talk to the doctor. I believe it is illegal though, for the doctor to give any info to the principal with out your signed consent. Here they have a homebound program for ill kids who can't attend school. They do their work at home, and a traveling teacher comes and checks in with them once a week. I have known several kids who were put on it for various reasons. That would be good for Shelley. Then she could keep up with her work, but have the opportunity to heal with out stress.
MEOWEE: I hope you are able to realize spring soon... What I don't understand is why you don't move south so you can enjoy warmer weather? May I suggest Atlanta?
TONI: Did the dog stick around? This is sure crazy weather this year if you are getting snow in April! As I suggested to Meowee, move south! :)
COUNTRY: Did you post pictures of those goslings? They sound adorable! You are WAY ahead of us on the garden. I have not even ordered my seeds yet. I get them from Johnny's though, and they usually get here in less than a week. I have a bunch left over from last year too. Tom needs to get his Mantis out and till the garden. We have been SO busy though...
SOLLY: Sin tax huh? That never works. You are right, everyone is going to drive to Indiana, or Tennessee. Where ever it is cheaper. I am a big fan of the Fair Tax. I wish we would see some REAL change in DC. Speaking of which, Fillise does a political blog that I read some. It is hilarious. I wish we could get her back on here.
THUNDER: :welcome3: I am guessing that is you with your kids in the avatar? Cute! We are glad to have you join us.
TALITHA: What can I say? You have your hands full for sure. I guess you need to keep it simple...plain meats, plain veggies and rice. Sounds like stir fries would be a good option. Can you use wheat free soy sauce? They sell it at the market. Water aerobics! I can't wait to open the pool! :) Call me sometime.

Hi gang . . . :grouphug:
Good to see you ELLEN and very glad to hear that things are going well with the new doctor. Sounds very promising. You are right, of course, the diuretic had a bit to do with that big loss in a week; but rest assured that things will continue to go downward at a bit more conservative rate.
Yes this has definitely been one of those Winters that makes me wonder why on earth I live in this stupid northern country -- probably the fact that I was born here. Most of our winters are not that bad here in Nova Scotia which is one of the reasons I didn't return to Ontario when I retired.
Anyway . . . another damp and dull day today . . . but no snow and the temp is going to go up to almost 50F. :yay:
Have a great day, everybody and I really hope that most of you are having SPRING. See you later . . .

I was looking at the Candida Diet info and it really explains a LOT of my symptoms and issues. :( I did an online lifestyle test that said any score over 85 is bad. I had over 300.... yuck.
Anyway, for now I'm just doing what I can. I had blackened salmon and roasted zuccini last night. I skipped the sweet potatos I did for the kids and was really proud of myself. Until Travis handed me the last of the Dove Dark Chocolates during LOST. Somehow they all disappeared and I had a sweet taste in my mouth and a sick feeling in my stomach.. (((slaps forehead))) Why can't I break this sugar addiction? I just don't feel up to it. No wonder I have yeast overgrowth issues!
So, I'm off to a better start today. I had left over zuccini and some mushrooms sauteed and then scrambled into 3 egg whites. It was yummy.
I'm cleaning out closets today and hoping that we can start working on the house. We need to get some stuff done so that we can get it reappraised for a building loan. Kinda nervous about that. Last year it appraised for 200 and I'm guessing that it dropped at least 10% since then. We need about $50k to do the build on and I don't know if we'll be able to get an equity line for that much. We only owe $130 so we should at least be able to make a start. All I know is that 6 people and a big dog in 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom is not working well anymore. I'm starting to lose my mind.
Ellen- I'm all for the Fair Tax, too. It's brilliant. I have to restrict soy, but can have a little Tamari every now and then.
Toni- mmmm... bean soup.
Crystal- you make me smile :)
Thunder- Welcome to the jungle!!! LOL

But she was too stressed this time. The other chicks seem fine and we have put up a barrier to protect them. They are very close to being able to go with the other chickens.

Good morning ladies,
Another nice day here, but short lived I'm afraid. Rain coming tomorrow and cold and snow flurries on Mon & Tues. Yuk!
I am so sore I can hardly walk or just move. I did lunges last night on a step. Lunging off the step and then the next time lunging on the step. Funny how just a little variation can work different muscles. I have been doing lunges for quite some time and am pretty use to them, but this really kicked my butt, literally.
Ellen, man I was wore out just reading your post. You must be tired. I had to laugh at your note saying your DD & SIL are SUPPOSED to be moving out. Sounds like you don't believe it. Sorry you missed out on seeing that beautiful grandbaby. I bet she is growing. Sounds like this new doc is really helping you. What is fair tax?
Toni, I too love bean soup and no one likes it as much as I do. Really good with corn bread. Cigarettes are almost $1.00 a pack here. Thank goodness that is one vice I never had and if I did I would have to quit b/c I could not afford it. I still have not been to the grocery and we have NO food. Luckily I don't have to cook until Sunday.
Talitha, That sounds like one crowded house. I hope you get the appraisal you need to get the money. You need to fuss at Travis for giving you those chocolates.
Meowee, I guess we are getting some of your bad weather next week. Please keep it there or send it another direction.
Crystle, sorry about the baby chick. I bet they are adorable. I may just look for some of that basil.
Thunderthighs, welcome to our group. Telll us more about yourself and family. We look forward to getting to know you.
Off to print a bridal registery. Have a great day.

Woooo eeeeee do those beans ever smell good. And I took a taste and they're yummy. Can't wait till dinner. Made me a salad with leftover chicken breast on top for lunch. And had me a high fiber drink. Now enjoying some nice hot tea. I'm trying to break myself of eating sugar. I've gained ten lbs in the last few weeks because I've been on a sugar binge. I'm finally trying to get back on the wagon. Well the pup I call Biscuit is still here. Living the Life of Riley outside. She sure can eat.
Ellen- You have been one busy woman. I know when we got the stuff from Steve's Mother's house how crowded we were. We've still not found a place for some of the stuff. Sorry you didn't get to see that little granddaughter. Bet shes a doll. Sounds like you finally got a really good doctor for you.
Meowee- Stay warm. You need my wonderful flannel chair blanket my sister made for me. Its great to cuddle in.
Talitha- Oh no not Dove chocolates. My weakness has been cookies. We'll do better for sure. Your dinner sounds so good.
Crystle- Oh darn poor lucky. You're sure way ahead of us weather wise.
Solly- Glad I don't smoke either. There's no way to afford that. Wow did you have a work out.... I can't even think of exercise right now. Fighting just to get away from the sweets. And back to eating right. Oh aren't I a gripe today. Must be the weather. LOL
Have a good afternoon all.

Good morning. Firday at last. No plans for the weekend except grocery shopping and cutting grass and cleaning house. Yuk! I would like some fun things to do. Might have to sneak out and do some shopping for me.
Toni, you can get off the sugar. You have done it before. I haven't done so well myself lately. I will be glad when these fish fry's are over as I love fried fish and just snack away on the fries and onion rings.
Candoit, hope your surgery went well and you are recovering.
Crystle, Ellen, Talitha, Thunderthighs, Tech and everyone else, have a great weekend.

:o :o :o -- Yesterday turned into a terrible day of eating far, far too many highly refined carbs, and even included some extremely rich and delicious chocolate cake. I then went to bed fairly early in a total "carb-coma". Today, thankfully, I'm back on track and definitely planning to stay that way.
Weather is damp and overcast, but really quite mild (over 50) and the snow is now melting too quickly. My yard is beginning to look like a swamp. We've got rain in the forecast for the next few days so flooding could become a danger for a lot of folks. Not that I want the snow back though.
Have a good day, gang . . . see you all later . . . :carrot:

Howdy ya'll. I hope each of you is doing well and off to the start of a great weekend. So many things have started to pop up in the garden. :) There is even one tiny grape tomato that set. My hubby is going to turn a five gallon bucket into an upside down planter like we've seen and we are going to try some tomato plants in that. I can't wait to see how that works. I've been eating a little too much the last three days but I'm hoping to get back on track starting now.

Ok, my life is never dull is it? Thursday, my pharmacist from the store called me to ask me if I had watched the news Wednesday night. My new doctor was arrested for doing inappropriate physical exams on young women patients with out a female nurse in the room. They hauled his creepy a$$ off to jail! So I am looking for a new doctor again. Will it ever end?
I admit I had a bit of a pity party and was not very careful about what I ate yesterday. Back on the straight and narrow today. It is a beautiful day today...sunshine and brisk. I think Tom is going to work on the garden. Yay!
I need to look through boxes. I am not looking forward to it, and am hoping I can think of something more 'pressing' to do!

Just got done setting out some broccoli plants in pots. Hope they do good. I should have gotten them out earlier. But couldn't find any till yesterday at my shopping trip. Had a wonderful day out. Am enjoying the spring weather. We're going to throw some burgers on the grill soon.
Ellen- Oh my gosh I can't believe the doctor. What a sicko. And he sounded so good. What a shame.
meowee- Know well about the terrible eating days. Just jump on up this old wagon and we'll ride into better eating.

Hi ladies, hope everyone had a good weekend. Of course, eating was not good. Just don't know how to get through them w/o food and wine.
I've been having such a terrible time with numbness in my arms and hands. I didn't get much sleep over the weekend due to it. So I finally broke down and got a cervical epidural this morning.
Meowee, wow you are doing better then us today. Our high is only 39. It was 72 yesterday and calling for snow tonight. Crazy, crazy weather. Congrats for getting back on track with your eating right away.
Ellen, of my goodness. What a horrible, horrible man. What is wrong with people? At least you know what has been working for you and when you do find another doctor he can keep you on the same track.
Toni, those burritos sound good. I have never tried them with roast. I always use lean hamburger. I assume your weather has turned cold also? We had some bad storms last night and it is still raining here.
Crystle, I agree with you. This world is a crazy place. All these shootings over the weekend and Ellen's doctor. I don't know what to think any more. It scares you to death. You are not alone when it comes to weekend eating. I just can't figure it out.
Better dash. Have a great day

Hello everyone! I got my walk in tonight totally by accident! :) My grandson wanted to go outside and chose me to take him. He showed up with his shoes on (miraculously on the correct feet!) and took me by the finger over to where I kick my shoes off. He found them in the pile, and made me put them on, then wanted to go 'owside'. We put on jackets, since it was getting cold, and went out. He walked me up the street, and I am sure would have continued on to the playground in the next subdivision, but I convinced him to turn around half way there since it was starting to rain. I probably did not walk as fast as I should have, but I walked none the less.
My creepy doctor's office called me tonight to remind me about my morning appointment. I called back and cancelled. Tom was not in favor of me seeing him even if he is out on bail! I can't believe his medical license was not suspended pending investigation of the charges. While he may be really good, I don't feel comfortable with a doctor accused of that.
I need to buckle down and get more serious about what all I put into my mouth. I made a split pea soup tonight with a leftover ham bone. I put in too much dried peas, and it was very pasty. The flavor was good, but I have a bit of heartburn from it.
A friend and neighbor of ours has a daughter getting married in two weeks. She was good friends with our daughters, so I am helping with the reception and making the wedding cakes. I am going to be pretty busy the next two weeks, so I hope I am not too absent here.
They are predicting snow tonight. Argh! It is supposed to be spring here already! What crazy weather!

Hello. I started my withdrawal from sugar almost a week ago, and it has been really difficult. It took me until now to realize that this is the primary thread of the forum -- I actually thought this thread was literally
about the weather. :)
I've been doing pretty well by having lots of beans, unsweetened yogurt, and other foods that I had trouble enjoying in the past. Because i'm also doing a bit of calorie restriction at the same time as cutting out the sugar, I'm extra hungry and everything tastes good. But the sugar cravings make me so antsy and unable to concentrate. It's hard to "get into" anything. I'm irritable and my energy level is really bad. I keep finding myself rolling my office chair over to the file cabinet where I used to keep snacks, and no matter how hard I try to get work done, I find myself teleported as if by aliens, sitting staring at my file drawer with no memory of how I got there.

Oh, I think I'm coming down with a cold. I've had a growing headache, and I'm finally realizing that it's not diet-induced. No wonder I feel like crap. We're going away Thurs for a family holiday and I really don't want to be
sick for this trip. But I'm a tiny bit glad to know that ice cream probably
could NOT help what ails me. Lisa

Talitha - sorry to hear about all the allergies. Our family had a period
of time with TONS of food restrictions and allergies. My mom came
and helped us stock the freezer and that really helped us get over the
initial hump. It was also easier for the whole family to get on board
with the program when we had the added incentive of not waking up
to a screaming child in the night if we obeyed all the rules. Before
long it became like an "auto-pilot" and wasn't so hard any more.
Switching from wheat/pasta/bread based foods to rice as the main
staple starch was a big help, and then you can add almost any meat
or veg you want. I can't imagine how to manage it with so many kids
at the same time, but I'll be cheering for you.

Hi there Sweeties . . . :grouphug:
Well, it's raining again. In other words, SSDD.
I'm pretty much recovered from my little run in with CoolWhip -- at least the blood sugar levels are back to tolerable even though the weight took a wee upward blip this morning. I wonder if I will ever learn. CoolWhip is (like Peanut Butter) something around which I have absolutely no control and it has got to be the worst Frankenfood ever -- first ingredient, water; but then comes corn syrup (sugar); followed by hydogenated oil (trans-fat); then HFCS (more sugar) :yikes: I did wash the rest of the container down the drain.
Glad you are staying away from that so-called Doctor, Ellen. I agree with you. Can't believe they are still letting him practice while out on bail -- innocent until proven guilty sometimes goes too far.
Hope the cold doesn't get any worse, Lisa. It's hard enough shaking the sugar habit when you are not sick.
Guess I'd better get myself moving and shaking . . . :carrot:

Sorry to keep posting so often but I'm just so antsy, trying to
pass the time during the withdrawal. (One day at a time)
I live in Asia, so my daytime is your night.
I have 2 different types of hunger, one that peaks right after a
meal, and one that peaks about 2 hours later.
4 hours after a meal is when I feel just great. . . . Finally feeling
steady. And then I just have to ruin everything and eat again
and start the cycle again.

Hi Lisa and welcome to Sugar Busters. I don't know why its so quiet today. Where the heck is everyone? Eating wasn't great this week end. I can't wait to go grocery shopping this week and get some healthier stuff in the house. I've been trying to plan Easter dinner here. I really wanted to grill something on the barbecue but it looks like its going to rain here Sunday. Hopefully the weather report will change and I can put a roast on the barbecue. I hope you didn't come down with a cold. And have a good time on your trip.

Hello everyone! I had a decent day until dinner. I made soft tacos, and even had whole wheat tortillas. I ate way too much and I still feel full. Yuck!
I did not want to walk outside today, so I walked around the house very briskly, with my grandson chasing me and laughing hysterically half the time. It was fun, and I was glad to get my time in. Tomorrow, I increase to 15 minutes. Since I have been used to 30-45 in the past, it is a challenge to stop at 10!
Hi LISA! Nice to have a new member to get to know! Where are you in Asia?
MEOWEE: You should not buy the cool whip! I have a couple things I just can't handle. I try not to have them in the house.
Ok, I need to go to bed. Sweet dreams!

I have absolutely no idea if my headache and other symptoms yesterday
were from a virus or from sugar-withdrawal. At the time I thought
virus because eating a plate of brown rice and beans didn't make it
go away, but now I'm thinking it might have been withdrawal anyway.
I'm feeling totally fine now.
Do any of you ever try to eat something with sugar but really slowly
so the sugar of it will hit you more gradually? Does it work for you?
I'm trying it right now with a sugar-sweetened yogurt, and I'm
eating a raw veggie stick in between every bite of yogurt. It's
not easy to find quick convenient foods that are on plan, avoiding
allergies, etc. I'm a bit nauseated by beans at this point.
We're about to go on a 4-day holiday trip tomorrow. I've been looking
forward to this trip for a long time, but I didn't think through the
timing of my diet plus the timing of this trip. I'll do the best I can
on the trip and then take it from there.
Yesterday I was so irritable and I unleashed some on my poor husband.
I knew I was irritable and I knew I was in a foul mood but I couldn't
stop the criticisms from exiting my mouth. He took it well.
Ellen, I'm living in Singapore, which in on the equator between
Malaysia and Indonesia. Originally I'm from Boston and Long

Howdy ya'll. It has been one crazy busy week. I've really missed coming to the board but I think I'm about caught up now.
Welcome Lisa...nice to have you with us. I hope you have a fantastic vacation with your family and all the withdrawals are gone.
Ellen..I'm with you..no creepy doctor. :) The walk with your grand baby sounded precious. They are so adorable...how can we tell them no.
Toni...I need to get to the store myself. I think I have enough veggies to make it through the next few days and then my choices will be limited. I think that is when I make some of the picks. Earlier we grilled some spaghetti squash over the coals in the grill. I can't wait to give that a try. One of my boys loved it and of course the picky one said..."oooo gross" :)
Meowee...I'm glad it is warming up for you. We had one last cold snap the other night that hit my garden. We covered what we could and prayed over the rest. The beans seemed to be the worst hit and I think we'll still get some harvest.
Talitha...I hope you are having a better week this week with your back. ((hugzz))
Tech...I sure hope all is well with you and yours.

I've been reading this week and not getting a minute to post. Surprised?
Anyway, here's a flash post...
I've been doing a bit better this week. We've been eating well and I discover that my children LOVE sauteed Kale. They are actually asking for it every day! I'm finally, after 10 weeks, falling into the groove of adding the extra food restrictions in. It's been a little hard on the budget but if I'm carefull I've been able to do more organic foods. That always makes me happy. there is still something that Eden is reacting to. I didn't cheat this week but she broke otu with excema all over her little face :( I'm going to have her checked next week.
Travis has off tomorrow, so we are going to get the garden going, I hope. The kids are so excited about planting things. They're obsessed with sprouting so it will be even more fun to plant and harvest. We don't have much space so we're going for the 'edible landscaping' look. Ill try to get som pictures for ya.
I got on the scale yesterday and was down to 199.5 . I'm not claiming it until monday. Do we not have a weekly weigh in anymore? I miss that.. I really looked forward to it as a group.. Just saying..
Ok. I'd love to post to each of ya. Maybe I can later.
LISA- WELCOME!!! It's nice to have another allergy person here. I feel like less of a freak. We've been dealing with it for 3 years now and it was originally just one, Jacob. Now that I've had them all tested we have much more to deal with. But it's worth it. I'm seeing good results.
Oh, and I'm REJOINING THE YMCA TOMORROW!!! Eden is big so I'm just going to go ahead and tell them that she is 3 months old. I'm going in tomorrow morning to reactivate our account, since Travis will be home to watch the kids. YAY!!!

Went to look at a condo with my DD. She feels at 26 it is time to get out. Doesn't matter to us. We love having here (sometimes). Since my DH is not a talker, at least I have someone to talk to.
Ellen, How cute your GS chasing you around the yard. I am so jealous. I don't blame you about the dr. I wouldn't go back either (well, unless he was drop dead goregous) Just kidding. They should have pulled his license.
Lisa, Wow, you found us all the way from Asia. Welcome to our group. Yes, we pretty much just post everything right here. Hope you overcome your withdrawl soon. It normally only takes a few days for the headache to go away. Have fun on your trip.
Country, I tend to go along with your picky eating son.
Talitha, congrats on getting back to the gym, although I don't see how you will ever fit it in. I truly love going and working out.
Meowee, I have to write one of those checks next week too. I don't blame you for being in a bad mood.

Not much going on here. Its rainy and cold out. But I don't have to go out so thats okay. Watching Dr. Phil rerun on fat kids. How pitiful. Looks like I've lost 1 lb. this week. Which I'm pleased about. I've got to get more water in.
Ellen- Boy taco's are one of my favorite foods. Yummy. I love the picture of your Grandson chasing you.
Lisa- Hope you're having fun on your holiday. And your eating is well.
Crystle- How was your squash on the grill? You know I've never tried to grill veggies. Congrads. on the loss.
Talitha- I weigh in on Wed. But will try on Monday. Wow how wonderful your kids like kale. I've never tried it and would like to learn how to cook it. How do you do yours? I've watched Emeril Green on tv do it.
Solly- I can't believe we're going to have that darn rain. It couldn't come at a worse time. I wanted to grill on Sunday. Plus we have a guy coming to work in our backyard Friday and its supposed to rain then. Hope you don't get it.
Well have a good afternoon.

Woohoo! Checking in again so soon. I'm proud of myself!
So? Weekly weigh-in? Sounds like I'm not the only one interested? IT certainly doesn't have to be a monday. I actually prefer Fridays. It works well, but I will do whatever day everyone else is doing. Who's calling the shots? Can we start this next week?
Here's what I ate today, the good and the bad...
B: Granola w/ rice milk, cantalope
S: Coffee with rice milk
L: Cabbage with sprouted lentils, a few bites of brown rice
S: 70% Cocoa bar, strawberries
D: a big salad w/ balsamic vinegar and goat cheese, chicken noodle soup (rice noodles)
S: small scoop of Soy Dream Ice Cream
I drank lots of water all day, but my sugar cravings are SERIOUSLY out of control. On the other hand, letting myself just eat it is keeping my PPD in hand (blush). Sigh...
So for tomorrow I'm telling myself that I have to eat healthy snacks and I am allowed 1/2 a cocoa bar. That's only 6g of sugar. And I'm going to make sure
I have protein at my snacks. It was so great when I could eat string cheese and now I can't. I think that I'm not eating enough, then when I'm really hungry I grab chocolate. Stupid. I'm totally addicted.
I'm very excited about going to the YMCA tomorrow. Solly, the reason I can fit it in is that they have CHILDCARE!!!! I'm only a tiny bit excited about that, of course ;) My kids love it there and I really enjoy the break. We'll see how Eden does. I'll start out with just 1/2 an hour at a time.
Ellen- What a sweetie, working out with you. I saw the Doc on the news. You know, I know someone who was wrongly accused and it destroyed his life. I don't agree with them taking away his liscence if it is in doubt. What if he is innocent?
Toni- Good job on the loss! It looks like rain for us tomorrow, too. :(
Crystle- Hope your loss sticks! I got on the scale this morning and mine didn't. I shouldn't have looked yet.

I'm feeling lonely, ladies. LOL
Anyway, I decided after posting that I would give up sugar for the holy weekend, even fruit. So, I just had about 6 bites of totally plain oatmeal for breakfast. I'll eat more in a bit, but I was so thirsty I guzzled three 12oz glasses of water and my belly is full. I'm going to go take a shower, then I will most likely scramble 3 eggwhites with some lentil sprouts and goat cheese. I only use about 1/2 a tablespoon crumbled when I use it. It makes me feel like I'm eating rich foods but it's much lower fat than other cheeses (and I can't have cow dairy).
Off to shower and enjoy my husband being home with us for Good Friday.

Gorgeous day today . . . but weather is going to go down hill for the rest of Easter weekend.
Both the weight and the blood sugar took upward blips today -- the weight blip was totally expected (Chinese for lunch yesterday) but the blood sugar was not. Hey, no point in becoming obsessive, both will blip back down again.
Talitha . . . don't know about everybody else, but I weigh myself everyday and seeing the little ups and downs, while not being all that enjoyable sometimes, is always fascinating. I actually only move my ticker once a month and :o will use the lower of the scale number for that day or the average for the month whichever I think is honestly more accurate.
Have a great Good Friday, gang . . . :carrot:

Good morning ladies.
I can't beleive Easter is here. I attended our Holy Thursday service last night and I was so moved by it. Unfortunately Thursday is the only service I make this holy week other than EAster service.
Didn't sleep well last night. The dog couldn't get situated and he was up and down and all around all night. For some reason he has been wanting to go out at 1:30 each night. I just pretend I don't hear him and DH takes him out. :sssh: But I made it to the gym this morning and got in a good workout. I am always so glad when Friday gets here as it is my last day to workout until Monday.
I normally have Easter, but we are having it a a clubhouse at my sister's subdivision and everyone is bringing something. Not sure how this will be, but it will be a lot less work for me.
I am for having the weigh-ins again. I prefer WIW (weight in Wednesdays) or Fridays. I never liked it on Mondays. So whatever the majority wants is good for me. I actually weigh every day too.
Toni, we are having bad :rain: storms as we speak. Maybe it will clear up enough Sunday so you can grill. You should try the grilled veggies, they are really good. Fruit is good grilled too. ;Congrat: on your loss.
Talitha, I tried to give up wine for all of Lent. It lasted one week. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Today we fast, only 1 full meal, and no eating between meals. I don't know why that is so hard to do 2 days a year. Of course, I am starving. My family loves kale. My mom always fixed it and boiled potatoes and eggs and layed them on top of the kale. Added some cornbread and that was our meal. Yummy!
Meowee, that Chineese will make you retain water for sure. Actually, I have been craving it too, but I only like General's Chicken and that is not good for me. :nono:
Ellen, I know you will miss your grandson running around, but think how special your visits will become once they are gone. My DD is trying to move out too and I will miss her, but I will like it being me & DH, just like when she went to college. You get used to it quickly.
Crystle, hope you are having a great day and Easter weekend.

Howdy ya'll. I too weigh every day and to be honest at least twice a day...bad I know but it's what I do. :) I like weigh in Fridays because any water weight from the weekend is gone. But any day ya'll pick will work for me.
The watermelon and cantaloupe garden is planted. Hopefully they will take. It's another new venture for our type of soil. We are starting from seeds.
Toni...oh the squash came out SO good. The edges were caramelized and it was just as tender as if I had cooked it in the oven. So far the butternut is the better of the two on the grill. I haven't cooked them on the propane side yet. Both were cooked with a combo of wood and charcoal.
Solly...I think it is awesome that you fast. Sometimes our church fast. The last water and juice fast was for three days. There are other kinds of fast that we do that aren't as restrictive. I hope you have a great Easter.
Meowee..Sorry that your sugar isn't behaving. My mom struggles a lot with her sugar. Last month she had to take steroids for her lungs and she couldn't get it below the upper 200's fasting. It really takes a toll on her when it is that high.
Talitha...thanks for sharing your menu with us. It helps me try new things. I've never had the rice milk but I found I really really like the sugar free vanilla almond milk. I hope you have a fantastic time at the Y and your little one is comfortable there.
Ellen...Yeah! I know you love the kiddos and the grand baby but I bet you will enjoy some quiet time with Tom. :) Hope you are having a blast on your outing.
Tech...((hugzz))
Sue if you are peeking in I hope your shoulder is healing quickly. ((hugzz))
Time to get moving. More things to plant believe it or not....LOL I'm running out of prepared places. Next year I may have to add a little more the melon garden to make room.
I pray that each of you has a beautiful and special Easter.
God bless,

Happy Saturday . . . :grouphug:
Well, the weather is definately deteriorating although nothing is falling from the sky right now. The good news is that both my blood sugar and my weight seem to have recovered from the Chinese food I had on Thursday.
I'm using a Flovent inhaler right now and that has a reputation for raising the blood sugar a little too, but I've experienced nothing quite as bad as your Mother's numbers, Crystle -- yet. However, it is doing nothing to relieve the coughing and wheezing either. I'm going back to see the doctor on Tuesday. Hopefully he'll decide to try something else.
Nothing too exciting in my plans today . . . have to get some refills on various meds and the drug store and make a stop at a local grocery store than has a one-day-only sale on a couple of items I really want.
Have a good day . . . :carrot:

Hello everyone! A short note before the crazy week hits me. I have a wedding I am making cakes for and running the reception at on Saturday. I have LOTS of baking to do, as I need to make about 7 cheese cakes for the groom's cakes in addition to the bride's cake.
Today was nice...had the whole family over for dinner. They were all at least an hour late, which ticked me off, but I really ought to expect it. They always are.
At least I got to see my granddaughter. She is so beautiful. And I got some time to play with the grandson too. The house is really quiet without him living here now.
I need to go to bed, but will check in when I can this week!

Hello everyone.
We just got back from our trip, and it went well for my eating. My daughter came down with a fever (not fun but the doctor says she'll be fine). At least the food part went well. The withdrawal and cravings finally passed and it was like heaven to be past that. There are still temptations, but so much more manageable now. It's so great to be at this point. I can't believe I didn't do it sooner.
We were at something of a health food resort with lots of organic food (that they grow themselves) and all vegetarian. There wasn't a lot of menu selection that avoided wheat (my allergy) so I ate too much white rice, but mixed with lots of veggies and no refined sugar, so still not bad, and the after-meal cravings were really quite mild.
Meowee- I've got to write a tax check soon too, and I've been putting it off because that's unpleasant. Living overseas means we pay US taxes and foreign taxes, but I shouldn't complain because if we didn't have any income to tax that would be much worse.
Talitha - I'm impressed with getting kids to eat kale. At the "health food resort" I realized how inflexible my kids are about having meat with their starch. That's going to be a problem when the older one (now turning 6) learns where meat comes from. She really adores all animals, even bugs.
Thanks everyone for the support and the welcome. I look forward to getting to know you better. Happy easter.

Yes LISA, that would be far worse.
I didn't sleep well last night and although the scale is holding in at 208, the bloos asugar went up a little. The weather, however, is not too great -- it's snowing -- just a few intermittent flurries and I hope it doesn't turn into anything more substantial.
Have a good one, gang -- it is a holiday for you?

I just had a real craving -- I couldn't stop thinking about a box
of cookies we brought back from the trip, supposed to be a gift for
the pet sitter. I was really going to open it up and start eating,
except I somehow I stopped at the point of tearing the shrink-wrap
around the box. I got past the craving, without going off plan,
and I'm so grateful for that silly little shrink-wrap.

Happy Monday Ladies
Hope everyone had a great Easter and avoided he EAster baskets. My nieces always bring me a box of Peeps. I love the little critters. The kids kept asking me if they could have one so I said yes. The more they eat, the less for me. I have only had 1 so far. I really like the yellow ones and they are orange. So I am trying to convice myself that they are not as good. Of course, we had way too much food and snacks. I am still miserable today. I struggled getting to the gym this morning. I just did a circuit of machines instead of following a routine. I just was not with it today. But at least I went.
Cryle, your garden will be overtaking your house soon. I hear the melons take a lot of room. It will be so nice when things start coming "up".
Lisa, :congrat: on passing up those cookies. They always say, when you have a craving, wait 15 minutes before you eat to see if it goes away. Keep up the good work.
Ellen, sounds like you had a busy weekend with the wedding and Easter. I hate when people are late. I guess you need to tell them an hour before you really want them there.
Meowee, Oh no, more snow. Sorry you didn't sleep well. I did that Saturday night. I went to bed at 9:20 last night, but didn't fall asleept until 11:30 but was out all night.
Toni, hope you had a great Easter and got to grill out. It was so cool and windy here. Raining this morning again.
Got to run. Have a great day.

Well it rained here Easter so we didn't get to grill. Instead I put the roast in the crockpot and it came out so good. I was looking forward to grilling some squash but didn't get to. Maybe next week end. We spend a lovely quiet day here.
Solly- Sounds like your off a bit today, hope you have a better tomorrow. Are you getting the rain too.
Lisa- What a nice vacation you had. Good for you on the eating. And how great you didn't open the cookies.
meowee- Good for that scale holding....
Ellen- Hope you don't work to hard.....
Have a good day...

Morning! I am just finishing up breakfast...two poached eggs, ww dry toast and an apple. The apple was so so. It was crisp and sweet, but tasted a bit bruised or something. Like maybe it was stored TOO cold or something.
Yesterday I baked three cheesecakes, some ciabatta bread, mixed up a sponge for today's ciabatta bread, and made a batch if ricotta cheese to use in lasagna for dinner tonight.
I slept pretty well, and late. :s: I need to run some errands this morning, but I am dragging my feet about getting going. I need to make final decisions on the wedding cake, and check to see what I need to buy for it, and I just don't want to do it right now. I tend to put these things off until it gets critical, then feel rushed. What is wrong with me???
Yesterday we had terrible wind and some rain. It looks like most of the pollen is now gone. I am still sneezing, but hopefully that will improve. It seems the pollen has gotten progressively worse. Maybe it is only in urban areas, or maybe it is because landscapers tend to plant only male trees to avoid the mess of fruit...
I really need to get off here and get going. I hope everyone has a great day!

Howdy ho..... I've got to get some breakfast/lunch going soon but wanted to pop on first. Watching a cooking show right now and having coffee. We slept in late this morning. But didn't go to bed till 1 this morning. Steve gets home from work at 12 am so we're always up late and sleep late in the morning. Going to make a pot of taco soup with ground turkey instead of beef for dinner tonight.
meowee- Hows your cats doing? You haven't mentioned them in awhile.
Ellen- Oh man you made me hungry reading your post. And are you ever busy. I've got some pink lady apples to try. Hope they're good. Its so hard to get good produce around here. I did pick up some wonderful looking spring asparagus.
Well I'd better get started with my day. Have to go to town too.

I also weigh myself daily, but I don't take the fluctuations very
seriously. I wait a while before changing my ticker, to make sure

Yesterday I had a lot of trouble concentrating at work.
(I had been using/abusing sugar to give me jolts of energy when
I needed a stimulant.) Yesterday I wanted to finish my
work early, leave early, and visit DD's school. But as the
afternoon ticked on, I really hadn't accomplished enough to let
myself leave early, so missing the school event was a good
"kick in the pants" for me. Then I finally buckled down and got
so absorbed in what I was doing that the final part of my day
was productive, high-energy, no eating and no hunger.
A big improvement!
I'm starting to repeat the same cycle today, and I really do
want to leave early today, so I've got to turn it around ASAP
and get my work done now. See ya.

I got some dried apples and tomato powder in the mail. Won't be trying them out till next fall.

Think I'll be a little scarce around here for the rest of this month. My cousin, Jamie (we've been as close as brother and sister all our lives) finally lost his long battle with cancer yesterday.
Now, as I mentioned before, Ruthxxx is arriving today to spend the weekend with me. Guess I'll try to get on the same flight as she is on for the trip to Ontario on Monday morning.
This should time out okay because his oldest son told me last night that there will be an autopsy to verify cause of death (something to do with the fact that he was a fireman). He will then be cremated and then there will be a memorial service. Liam didn't think anything much would be happening before next week anyway.
So, if you need assistance and can't find me, just scream for another Mod and someone will show up.

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been busy at work and work has been horrible. I didn't even want to come to work today. Everyone is cranky, nasty and thinks you are incompetent. We don't have much work and we are bidding everything. Which keeps me very busy. I am so glad it is Friday. No big plans for the weekend. Just getting my hair cut and colored tomorrow DH is playing golf so that works out well.
Meowee, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers. Have a safe trip. We will miss you.
Ellen, You are one busy lady. You will get it all done with time to spare. You are too hard on yourself.
Toni, how did your soup turn out with the ground turkey? Can you tell? It didn't rain here Easter, but it was very cool.
Candoit, glad you are back and doing so well. Just be careful working out.

Wow, it's a relief.
I sometimes start talking to myself like cheesecake isn't really very

It wouldn't be terrible, but it wouldn't be helpful either! So far

Hello! I have had a rather eventful week, and have not gotten the chance to get on here and post. The wedding came off well...with the exception of my unfortunate accident. I tripped over a neon yellow curb, and could not catch my balance before I hit the raised sidewalk. I landed on my knee, slammed into a sign post with a bag of plastic, metal and glass platters in one hand, and a footed crystal cake stand in the other. The cake stand flew out of my arm, and miraculously landed on a pile of pine straw in the bushes. The horrific crunching noise scared the crap out of Tom, but it was not bone as he thought, just a plastic platter in the bag. It was a cheap, easily replaced platter, and not my heirloom glass. I limped around the reception in great pain, and spent most of the week since in the recliner with my leg propped up. It is a beautiful arrangement of blues, purple and greens. It is still sore, but getting better.
The cake turned out nicely. The wedding was sweet. I am glad it is over, and will be cautious about getting into another one for a while.
My latest interest is Food Network. It was something to do while ensconced in the recliner. I rarely watch TV, so it has been kind of fun. My husband works for Dish, so we just got it installed and it is wonderful!
Eating has been so so. I made another batch of ricotta, and a batch of mozzarella that turned out wonderfully! We have almost eaten the whole thing! :o It tastes so fresh! I plan to make another batch and try a fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato salad.
MEOWEE: I am very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you....
I must limp off to the store, so I hope all is well with my 'buster friends...

I've maintained my weight and it looks like I've lost 2 more. I'm not claiming it until I see it a few days in a row, though. Did we decide we want to have a weekly weigh in? Sounded like Wed or Friday for most?

If I over-eat, I usually feel full for several hours longer
than I would after a normal-sized meal, but then when that
wears off, or the next day, I'm even hungrier than normal.
Some of you may know what I'm talking about? Crazy but true?
Well, when I went off-plan this past Sunday, it was high calorie
but not high sugar or high GI. Then, for the next day or two
I was LESS hungry than normal, and there's not too much damage
done to my weight. Wow. So basically, my body is working the way
it should, and that makes me really happy. Even if I'm getting
into trouble, it pays to avoid the sugar! Or maybe I've got
a shrunken stomach and maybe I wasn't as bad as I had feared.
Talitha, Congratulations on your anniversary and on the weight
loss.

Hello, friends! The knee is still giving me fits. It is aching right now, though the swelling is down mostly and the bruises are actually improving. I am so ready for some peace and no injuries or stresses. I am not holding my breath...
I just shipped out a set of dishes I have been working on for almost a year. What a great feeling! Unfortunately, it was ordered by my sister, who expected a deal, and got one. :( I did not make a lot on them...but oh well!
Tom got the tomato plants in the other night, finally. We should have tomatoes in about 60 days. I would be happy if they were over achievers and were ready sooner....

Hi ladies, sorry I have MIA. I have been having troulbe getting on the site. A dear friend passed away last week from breast cancer. She was a PE teacher at the grade school. We had gotten to be good friends and always went to all the bc outings. I will miss her. So I was pretty much bummed all week. it really hit close to home. Plus work has been dreadful. Ellen, sorry about your accident. Hope your knee feels better soon.
Talitha, Happy anniversary.
Lisa, you can do this.
Toni, hope all i well with you.
Crystle, how is that garden growing?
Guess that is all for now. We are so busy bidding work, that I am swamped. Hope to be back soon.

Hello friends. I am plodding along, my knee is improving slightly. The weather has cleared and the sun is shining for the first time in several days. The rain was heavy yesterday and the roof is leaking. It needs to be replaced, but my farmer boy husband can't bring himself to pay someone to do something he can do himself...so he is planning on reroofing it himself. Argh!
I have finally gotten the furniture arranged how I like it in the dining room (new stuff we got from my husband's deceased uncle) and I am trying to get the main floor of the house in presentable shape for a dinner party the second week of June. I have a LOT to do! :)
Eating has been so so. Not bad, not great. The scale is stuck as usual.
TALITHA: I got a book from Amazon by Ricki Carroll called Cheesemaking. There is a website she runs that has the unusual ingredients you need. Mozzarella and ricotta are very easy cheeses to make. I have a second frig I need to get situated and plugged in, which I plan to use for hard cheeses that have to be aged. My son built me a cheese press, so I am all set. I am going to try a cheddar, then a parmesan. The mozzarella turns out delicious, and is much cheaper than what you buy in the store if you use milk from someplace like costco. If you like, you can make it out of goat's milk. You just need to find fresh goat's milk, as the stuff in the grocery stores has been ultra pastuerized and it will not work. Call me if you want to talk about it.
SOLLY: I am so sorry about your friend. I know that must hurt. I am praying for you.
So where is Toni, Meowee, Country - and has any one heard from Tech, or BOB lately?

Hello. Things are crazy around here getting ready for company and a big family gathering here the 16th. I've got tons to do. First I've got to think about what to feed my bunch. Oh well I'm sure it will all work out.
Solly- I'm so sorry about your friend. I can't imagine how hard this is for you. And what a bad time for things to be bad at work. I hope it all gets better for you.
Ellen- Wow you've been a busy bee. Glad your knee is getting better. Got your garden in yet?
Talitha- good going gal on the workout. Keep up the good work.

Hello. I'm hanging in there, and that marvelous ticker keeps headed down!
On Sunday we went to that buffet again, but this time I looked at it as an
opportunity to learn new habits -- to take a few bites of the high-calorie
foods and then not have any more. I already know how to restrict myself
cold-turkey but that's not a permanent lifestyle, and I know how to over
eat, so this is really good for me to practice practice practice. I feel like
I'm training my body, not just my mind.
Solly, I'm sorry to hear about the death of your friend, and the death of
civility at your workplace.
Ellen, I hope your knee recovers really well.
Congrats to Talitha on the exercise. WAY TO GO! It's doubly
impressive that you find the time despite the demands of kids.

I have an annoying cat. He woke me out of a sound sleep this morning by poking me in the head. He wanted me to pet him. I think he must be senile, as he is very old and when he was young he never would sit in your lap, or demand attention like he does now. So, I SHOULD still be asleep.....
TONI: Sounds like you are busy too! A big family gathering is fun...but a lot of work! Tom has been getting the garden in bit by bit...last night he planted okra. He got some basil seeds too, since the old ones I planted don't seem to be coming up. :(
LISA: I like your attitude about the buffet! It is a learning process, and you are going to succeed with that attitude. Way to go!

The phone ringing woke me this morning. I was really sleeping. But I do have a busy day ahead so need to get busy. Didn't even get on the scale yet. Did everyone get a coupon for KFC's grilled chicken? Ours is to far away and I couldn't get it to print my coupon. The Biggest Loser was so good last night. Down to the final three next week.
Lisa- Yep that training yourself to eat better is a good thing..... Keep up the good work.
Ellen- Awww what a sweet kitty. Maybe you'll need a little nap today.
Crystle- Hope you get a break......
Well off to do some work. Have a good day.

Hopefully my fiancee will join me!
Also, where do all of you get your countdown things?

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and to Sugar Busters. I would like to join in with this daily thread if you all don't mind! To start, I was wondering if there are specific brands of "sugar free ice cream" that are recommended? I've seen "No Sugar Added" (Breyers and others) that include Splenda, but not "sugar FREE". Do they mean the same thing?
Toni48

:welcome: Pet and Voice..... Its good to have you here. You get the countdown things under UserCP at the top of the page. But I think you have to be on so many posts before you can use it. As far as the ice cream goes I myself would go with the one that has splenda in it.

So, I've had no sugar today and I'm sooo tempted at the moment to go grab some chocolate! But I'm not. I'm going to have some water with lime because I really am thirsty.. Ahhh..
'
I startefd a sparkpage and I'm trying to get into logging my food. Because I know that I'm completely addicted and worshiping at the Sugar Shrine. I've GOT to break the habit and stop feeling sorry for myself.
Anyway, I blogged today if you want to go read it.

Welcome Pet and Voice!!!
Lisa, you're doing fantastic!
Ellen- i may try that out sometime, when I'm in a bit of a better routine. I'm getting there.. Be careful with that knee.
Solly, I'm so so sorry for your loss. ((hug))

Oh boy....I am on Day 4 of the SB diet, and I think I have what may be sugar withdrawal symptoms?? I've felt nauseous and dizzy and just generally "out of it" all day today. I don't get it...yesterday I was doing just fine, but today it just hit me like a ton of bricks. My nose is stuffed too, but I don't think i'm getting a cold. Could this be from cutting out sugar for only 4 days? Seems a little crazy, but I can't otherwise explain it. I'm still eating fruit, so shouldn't that keep me from having sugar withdrawal??
Ellen
05-09-2009, 02:22 PM
Hi Petsitter! The symptoms you describe...dizzy, nausea, feeling out of it....CAN be from sugar withdrawal. If they don't clear up in a few days though, you might want to explore other causes. I always got headaches, and felt out of it and nauseated. I think everyone is different... You will be glad you stick it out though. Not being enslaved to sugar is a wonderful feeling!

Tom opened the pool Thursday night, and it is almost ready to swim in. I can't wait! I actually got on the steps and got in up to my thighs. It is VERY cold, but feels really good on my bum knee. I love to swim, so I am looking forward to improved exercise stats very soon! :)
We went to our daughter and son in law's new apt for dinner last night. The dinner was not totally SB friendly, but I felt I had to eat a small amount of what she fixed. For dessert, she was SO proud of herself...she had made a sugar free cake mix for me in a train cake mold that was the size of large cupcakes. She knows I love trains, and have tried hard to impart this love on my grandson. He was VERY upset that we were eating the train! But once he bit in he got over it. It was good, but I know not legal...white flour I am sure...and she probably did not think about the icing having sugar. (I did!) It was a nice evening though.
Tomorrow, everyone is coming here for Mother's Day. I bought pork tenderloin for my other son in law, the ex-chef, to fix. Everyone is bringing something. (I was VERY proud of myself for assigning parts of the meal to my daughters so I did not have to do it all myself!)
I have not been on the scale in well over a month. I have a doctor appt. with a new doctor on Monday, so I guess I will find out then....
Hope everyone is doing well!

Petsitter,
I felt miserable during my first 10-15 days without sugar, and I thought
I might be coming down with something. But I'm pretty sure it was just
the withdrawal. But I'm really really glad I broke the addiction, and
after a couple weeks everything got much much easier. I'm sure you'll
be glad you did it too. Just hang in there. Congratulations on the
first 4 days. That's already a big accomplishment.
Happy Mother's Day everybody. We went to "the buffet" again on
Sunday and I did OK again. Filled up on a veggie stew, had only a
couple bites of various forbidden foods. Yay.

Morning! I think it is time to get back into the swing of what SHOULD be normal around here...so I am about to suit up and head out for a walk. The knee is much improved, though not totally back to normal, but I just can't wait any longer. My blood sugar levels have not been good. Exercise helps it more than anything. Ya'all hold me to it now.... :)
Mother's Day was a zoo around here. My two year old grandson was tired, and therefore on a roll of bad behavior. After they left, I discovered he had dumped a brand new, large can of fish food in my ten gallon tank. There is only one fish in there right now, and the poor thing probably could not breathe with all the food dust in the water. I cleaned a good bit out, but have to go back and do it again in a few days. Its just too stressful to exchange too much water at one time. He also hid everyone's keys. I am thinking he did not want to leave! :)
I ate ok yesterday, but my daughter brought an exquisite dessert and I ate a healthy serving of it. Bad bad! My blood sugar is high this morning because of it.
Off to walk!

Had such a nice Mother's Day. Got some beautiful cards and some nice little gifts and especially nice phone calls. I'll try and come on when I can.

Today, I went and stayed a few hours with a friend who just had surgery so her husband could run some errands. I am going back tomorrow so he can go to a meeting. He is self employed as an artist, so he has to keep up his contacts...especially since his wife usually has the better job but was laid off a few months ago.
Dinner tonight was orange roughy. Boy was it good! I just sprinkled it with lemon pepper seasoning and baked it with cooking spray. I also roasted asparagus and made taters for the boys....

Basically, I'm still MIA . . .
The two weeks in Ontario where extremely hectic and stressful. I probably should not have gone -- but, we don't always get to make the 'best for us' choices when family matters intervene.
The trip certainly did nothing to ease my ongoing medical situation which was finally diagnosed as Pneumonia. Since returning, I've had two rounds of two different antibiotics and still no relief in sight. I'm getting weaker and more pain ridden as each day goes by. Afraid I don't spend much time sitting upright let alone on the computer.
Back to the doctor on Tuesday, the 19th and will see what he thinks he'll try next. Personally, I think this must be a viral rather than a bacterial pneumonia so there may not be much to do for it except wait it out and keep the :crossed:
Hope to check in again soon. :grouphug:

I had my grandson this afternoon while my daughter, son in law, and my son went to a festival of beer. You pay a certain amount to get in, then can try all the 100's of beers they have there. My hubby was at a conference...and is going back tomorrow all day too. He has enjoyed it...so I am glad he did not give up his weekend for work stuff and felt bored.
MEOWEE: Oh, take care of yourself! Pneumonia is nothing to ignore, for sure! I am glad they found out what it was, and I hope they find the right antibiotic soon. I have been worried about you....thanks for checking in.

Ok, don't know why, but I haven't been able to pull up the website for over a week? Got in today to say hello.
I signed up for the "Atlanta Momma's Biggest Loser" competition that started yesterday and it's REALLY motivating me!!! I WANT that money!! LOL I have 14 weeks and the winner is whoever has lost the highest percentage of their total body weight. It's gonna be fun.
So, THAT has finally gotten me motivated to drop the sugar. I am eating fruit though. Not as much as before, but I just had a huge bowl of cantelope for breakfast. yuummm.
Ok, off to the Y for water class. Oh!! And I got into a size 12 pair of jeans this weekend!! Tight on the belly/butt, but looked great on my legs. Happy day! I was an 18 when I got pregnant with Eden, just over a year ago (she's 4 months old yesterday! Crazy!)

Hi ladies, Sorry I have been MIA. After the death of my friend I have been totally out of focus. Not even interested in eating right. Did keep exercising until last week. Only made it twice, but found out I have a fracture in my right foot. So it is only upper body stuff for awhile. That had me bummed out too. So I am tired of watching the scale creep up and the clothes getting tighter so I am back here and back on a plan. 2 days under my belt so far and many ahead I hope.
Meowee, take care of yourself. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Toni, sounds like you have had a house full of company. Always fun, but good to see them go too.
Ellen, hope your knee gets better soon. IMy plan is to go to my Dd's as soon as their water warms up and swim. It will be easier on my feet and knees and something I like to do.
Talitha, Wow BL Atlanta sounds great. I wish we had one. Or maybe we do. How do I find out?? I love that show. I saved the last one just for motivation. Those people are unbelievable. If I could just have a fraction of their drive I would be fine.
Lisa, exercise can be fun. Just have to find something you like to do and set your mind toit.
Petsitter. Glad you are over withdrawl. Try to stay OP and don't cheat. That is my advice. It is so much easier if you don't start little cheats. Plan ahead at all times. Good luck to you.
My DD (youngest) is trying to buy a condo. I will have an empty nest again. But I feel it is time. I will miss here dearly, but it will be good for her. She is a lot of company to me.
Got to get started on this crazy job. Busy bidding jobs all week keeps my swamped. Take care and I promise to get her more often.

Eating hasn't been good but really did do a little better today. Hopefully I'm slowly climbing back on the wagon. My main thing is I need to get on the treadmill.

HELP ME!! My best friend came over to borrow my scale. I dusted it off and got on. 190!!! Holy Toledo!! I took off my coat and it was down to 185, but STILL!! I am totally out of control. To think a couple years ago I was in the 160's and just into a size 12. I'm so out of control. I just had two handfuls of Mike and Ikes. What's wrong with me? I have to beg my husband to stop buying things like that and bringing them home. It's just not good.
May has been HECTIC!! Mother's Day, Shelley's birthday, my anniversary, Shelley was confirmed, memorial day parade for Shelley. And...the best news...my son won the district-wide SPELLING BEE!! Last year he came in third and this year first place was a piece of cake for him!!
Shelley started with a new therapist that is doing Art therapy with her. Interesting. She's struggling to get through the material she missed for the two months she was out, but her medication is doing the trick for her. The school is worthless. There is a federal law that states that if a student is out for more than two weeks with a doctor's note, they school has to provide them with homebound instruction (a tutor). BAsically, the teachers and the principal don't believe she has a problem, so they just said no. I'm so mad. They refuse to help her get caught up by teaching her the material she missed. I have Shelley's confirmation teacher teaching it to her because she's a retired high school teacher. Thank God for her or she would get nothing. It's been so stressful. I can't wait till this year's over. She might need summer school.
Anyhow...May will be over shortly and then maybe I can be more active here. I have to do something about my weight. It just seems like there is no time to do anything....shop for decent food, exercise...
Calgon! Take me away!!

Hello all,
Techwife, good luck with everything. When it rains it pours. Best
wishes to Shelley. I hope your family/community/church/school or
whatever it takes can help her catch up or even get a bit ahead
before school restarts in the fall. She deserves a good launch to
the next year.
Toni, good luck with the plantings and with your eating/exercise plan.
I've been keeping off the sugars, but not sure if I'm doing enough to
avoid calories overall. I've been eating too much cheese, and my
lunches (curries of beans and veg at an indian place) are probably
hiding a fair amount of oil. But still, I've quit all snacking, my
breakfasts and dinners are really low-cal and low-sugar. I've been
doing some serious exercise the last 2 months, but only once a week.
I'm pretty proud of my last couple weeks.
My scale weight is definitely up from 159 to 162, over the last few
weeks, but my measurements are slightly better (!), so I think I'm
building muscle. I'll count it as a tentative win, but in the future
I'd really like to see the scale moving down if I'm supposedly moving
the right direction.
I'm really hoping that my current lifestyle turns out to be a long-
term weight-loss situation (in other words, a maintenance diet for
somebody lighter), because if I have to restrict more than this....
ugh.....I don't see how I'll be able to keep it up life-long.

Hey ladies. just checking in. Today was our 3rd weigh in (second week) of the Atlanta Mommas Bigest Loser. I've lost TEN POINT TWO POUNDS IN TWO WEEKS!!! I feel like a million bucks.
Here's what I'm doing:
100+oz water EVERY day
1 serving of carbs per day and it needs to be before 3pm (unless we have company)
ABSOLUTELY nothing goes in my mouth after 8pm except for water, hot tea, celery(I really just love celery. I'm weird like that)
a grapefruit for breakfast every morning with an egg (scrambles with veggies or boiled) I love grapefruit and never buy it for myself. It feels like a treat
watching portions sizes
As far as exercise, I joined a Bootcamp style workout in my neighborhood. 6am M-F and still do cardio 3-4 days a week for 30 minutes.
Anyway. I'm excited about being in the 180's for the first time in 4 years, but I don't intend to stay there for long. It's nice to fit into 12's, but I want 10's!!!

Good morning ladies.
Crazy here at work. Today is bid day and it will be awful. We need work desparately and we are bidding everything under the sun which keeps me swamped.
I am proud to say my weekend was very decent on eating. Had oatmeal for breakfast, grilled chicken (plain) from Chick-FilA, dinner was a grilled chicken salad. Sunday was eggs and microwace bacon, steak for dinner, (yuk) asparagus, peas. My only problem was I went to get a grilled chicken sadwich for lunch at Wendy's but did not have as much money as I thought so I just ended up with a small hamburger on the dollar menu. Only had a couple drinks each day. So for me, it was a pretty good weekend and the scale was not up on Monday. So far so good this week. Logging all my food for the last 2 weeks has helped. I don't think I eat enough, but it is hard to eat enough "good" things. Been to the gym 5 days a week if only for 30 minutes each day. Saturday I did swim laps and did some exercises in the pool. I may go to my DD's and do the same tomorrow night.
Toni, Seems we are off to a good start. We can do this. Now start back on that :tread: if even for 15 minutes.
Lisa. I'm with you. It is hard to eat enough good things. So much easier to eat junk food. My scale isn't moving much either, but definately seeing some decrease due to toning or muscle.
Tech, so gladyou are back on here. Sorry that your weight is up but maybe it will keep you here. It takes some serious soul earching to get ready to do this. Glad things are better with Shelley. It is horrible about the school not helping her. Sure glad there are good people in this world. We are right there at the same weight so lets do this together and see how far we can go.. I was at 183 this morning. You have to decide you are important and make time your you.
Talitha, WOW! you are getting great exercise. Don't see how you find the time. But it is great. I too love grapefruit and celery. Don't know you if you take any meds, but grapefruit can interfere with them. I only have them on the weekends or for lunch (4 hours after taking my meds). Keep up the good work. You will probably be out of the 180's before me with all that working out.
Ellen< Hope things are going well with you. Been in that pool yet?
Country, where are you?????

Hello! I have been busy as usual, and just not spending much time away from a game I play online! :o
The water has warmed up enough to swim tolerably, so we have been in the pool a good bit the last few days. I did about 30 minutes of water aerobics yesterday morning. Today, I may not get in since we had to shock the pool yesterday. There were some friends over swimming Sunday and Monday and yesterday, and the heavy bather load just dirties the water....so you shock it to clean it out again. (higher levels of chlorine)
I am having a big dinner party here next Monday, then flying to Chicago for my sisters doctorate party. I come back on Tuesday the following week, and have a wedding cake to do for that Saturday. I will be scarce! :)
MEOWEE: Dear! Please take care of yourself. Keep us posted on what the doctors say.
TECH: Hop on the wagon, dear. You can do it!
SOLLY: I am sorry you have had such grief. I just can't imagine how hard it must be to lose a friend like that! I am glad you are back on the wagon! You have always been an inspiration to me!
TONI: Hope you are well!
LISA: Its good to be off the sugars! But do watch the starches if you want to lose. I love Indian foods! Curries are SO good!
TALITHA: Boot Camp sounds so much fun! You are doing wonderfully! Let me know if you want to meet at the market ever. I need to go end of this week to shop for my dinner party...but it may be a fast trip since I have so much to do. Maybe when I get back from Chicago?
Take care my friends!

Talitha: I wish they had a program like that around here. That's so awesome that you're able to do that.
Monet: Oh, how I wish I had a pool. We just got rid of our boat this year because it was too expensive. So, now I'm hoping we can afford a pool instead. Not this year, but hopefully next year. Derek and I are in disagreement over where to put it. He wants it behind the barn so that it will be out of sight of the neighbors, but that's where the grass is the nicest. I want it in the open on a bad patch of grass that I hate anyways. Someday...
Toni: Why the Fiber One? I hope it helps and I hope you get to wash your perm today. It always feels so good to get that first washing in.
Solly: I'm at 181 this morning!! :woohoo:
Okay...I'm having a sandwich this afternoon. Ham and Swiss on Monk's bread with mustard. Monk's bread is made near Rochester by REAL MONKS...or so they say. Its made with Stone Ground flour.
I had a nice bike ride this morning. The weather is FINALLY breaking.

rEPLIES FIRST SO i DON'T FORGET.
TONI, I DON'T THINK A GRAHAM CRACK AWITH PB WILL HURT YOU. (sorry about the caps, my finger hit it). Sounds like you are doing good. I am following Sb with low sugar and ww as much as possible, but also trying adapt to real life (mine anyway) and eat what I like and keeping it under 1500 calories a day. I have to follow something that is doable for life for me.
Ellen, congrats on your DS's doctorage. That is a wonderful accomplish. Enjoy your visit. Good luck with your dinner party. Not swimming here. Yesterday is was 90 and today 65 and rain.
Meowee, hope you are feeling better.
Tech. Come on now. I have been at 183 all week. It is so hard for me with my meds to lose an oz and then I usually go and blow it. Hang in there girl, you can do it.
Busy week here so glad it is almost over. I need a restfull weekend. Not sure I will get one. Sat we are supposed to go to an outlest mall about 1.5 hours away and Sunday we are starting on installing hardwood floors at my DD. Well I hope to be sitting my the pool while they install them. We have a shower Sunday to attend also. Will be careful with my food. Portion control and no cake.
Almost time to go home. Talk to you later.

Anyone notice my new avatar pic? That is Shelley and I just about two years ago when I was on Sugar Busters. I think I look really good in it, as opposed to the picture I have of me just a couple weeks ago 25 lbs heavier. Its my new inspiration to get back to where I was. I can do it. :woohoo:
I know I'm not supposed to weigh myself ever day, but I did again this am and am still at 181. I also had a couple (3-4) dounut holes yesterday. So, this is a trigger food and needs to be eliminated. Truthfully, I had too much coffee yesterday and felt nauseous, so I had them to fill my tummy so I wouldn't vomit. First step: limit coffee consumption. Ya think?
I also need to get back on my iced green tea kick. I felt great that year.

Tech.- I'm drinking fiber one because I got a free sample of it and liked the taste. So thought I might get some and drink one everyday. I can't see a difference though. Wow I would love to try that Monk's bread. Wish we got stuff around here like that.
Solly- I hope you have a good week end. We will just hang out here and grill some things. I'm hungry for some pork steaks. Not the best choice but going to have one anyway. I am trying to eat smaller portions too. I think like you. I need to be able to make my eating doable for my life too.
Ellen- Hope you're doing okay.
Meowee- Are you feeling any better? Good thoughts for you.
Well off to make breakfast/lunch......

Happy Friday
Thank goodness work is almost over. We had computer problems today so didn't think I would get on here.
Nothing new since my last post.
Tech I was fluctuating betwen 180 and 181 this morning. My goal is to be in the 170's by next Wed when I have my evaluation at the gym. That should be incentive to stay on plan this weekend. My DD has a pool and I sure wish we had one too. DH won't do it.
Toni, pork steaks should not be bad for you. I sue the splenda with fiber but can't see any difference there. I figure it can't hurt.
Have a great weekend everyone

Thought I might sneak in here and see what's going on. Kate and I are both fine. I tell you, for an 86yr old Lady, she's just amazes me! She asked that I say hello to all of you for her.
I lost my job in April....on my birthday to beat all!! I hated that it happened, I really enjoyed working for that group of Doctor's. I've been looking, but things are not readily available right now. I just keep plugging along and hope that something will come my way. Keep me in your thoughts that this will happen.
My Brother had a new roof put on the house, painted and all the Australian Pines cut down in the back yard. The house looks wonderful and needed the update badly. Next on his agenda is the inside. I think I want to go with different colors in all the rooms. Anyone done this with the colors?
Eating has been a mess. As par for the course, portion control is and always has been the problem. I actually have to weigh every little thing in order for any plan to work for me. Bread is still a problem. Hoping that since the summer is here, fresh veggies will abound at the farm markets. I could eat mators till the cows come home and be perfectly satisfied. Of course, a few fresh green beans wouldn't hurt!
I'm still hooked on movies. I have two for the weekend:
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
Revolutionary Road
I'm off to recline.

Hi there . . .
Still around and still suffering more or less in silence. The visit to the specialist was definitely not encouraging -- he seems to be leaning in a direction that does not include either Asthma or Pneumonia. So, I'm trying to stay as calm as possible until we get the results of the CAT scan (that's on for tomorrow, Monday) and the newest scheduled test, a Bronchoscopy (Tuesday) -- yep, they seem to want to stick lighted tubes just about anywhere these days and I just can't help thinking "upside-down-coloscopy". :dizzy:

BOB!! Nice to see you around. So sorry for your job. I remember you were so excited to get it. Too bad you don't live around here. The office staff in my doctor's office all need to work at DMV. So rude. The doc is great, though, or I would go elsewhere.

Have to go out of town for a family emergency. Should be back in a week. Wish me luck.

Happy Monday ladies
Hope everyone had a great weekend. They sure do go fast though.
Eating was pretty good for the weekend. I was sick most of it so that played a good part. Feeling better today. hope it stays that way. Did not go to the gym this morning. I had absolutely no sleep Saturday night and got up at 8:00 Sunday and didn't feel good so didn't go to church. Started cleaning and got a lot worse. had to get my DD up to finish cleaning. Made it to the shower and went to my DD's and sat in the sun for awhile and then in the basement while they worked on the floors. Saturday I was sick when I got up, but felt better during the day. We shopped at the outlet mall most of it. Funny how shopping cures all. :fr: Ate at Outback on Saturday and got sick adter that. Ididn't feel good all day Friday either so don't know if it was something I ate at Outback or just a bug I had and it finally came full force.
Bob, so good to see you posting. Hope you continue. Sorry about your job. I know you liked it. Hopefully something else will come along soon. That is wonderful your brother is doing allo those repairs to your house. Glad to hear Kate is doing so well.
Toni, hope your emergency isn't something serious and all goes well. We will miss you.
Tech I couldn't tell which was the mother and which was the daughter. You are both very pretty. My scale was at 187 this morning, but I knew it would be b/c I didn't take 1 diuretic this weekend and that ususally puts about 10 lbs on. Since were were inthe car and shopping all day Saturday I ddin't want to take any and then yesterday, I was too sick to take any. It will come off in a day or 2.
Meowee, you poor thing, I hope you get some answers soon. Sending prayers your way.
Better get started here. Have a great day.

Evening Kiddo's,
I fixed a great supper and wanted to share. I marinated flat iron steaks in Mickey Gilley hickory, loads of garlic, pepper and olive oil overnight. Threw them on a red hot grill 4 minutes per side. Roasted fresh asparagus and yellow neck squash and threw together salad. OH MY GAWD!!! IT WAS WONDERFUL. I think these steaks have as much flavor as a filet.
That's all, just wanted to share. I'm off to finish the Bachelor!

Hi Everyone...:grouphug:
Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. The car wreck tore a ligament in my neck so I had a CONSTANT headache for 2 months. I have not been eating well either....Too much comfort food!
Right now I am going through Chelation theraphy & it is supposed to make you feel better but my body seems to have the reverse effects. Oh well......
I'm glad you all are still on here & doing well. I have missed you all.

Mary, so sorry to hear about your headaches. Hope something improves soon. Glad you are back on here.
Bob, Those steaks sound good. Sometimes you just have a meal that is surprisingly great. One night we had ff hot dogs on the grill with corn on the cob and DH cut up a potato and onions on th grill. Wow was is great.
Tech, OK now I am mad. I was up 7 pounds with eating pretty good over the weekend. This stupid water wt is not going anywhere and I have my eval tonight with my trainer. I was so hoping to be back at 181. Ugh!!!
Busy busy here. 3 bids in a week and I am on the phone constantly. Tomorrow will be a crazy day so probably will not be on here.
Have a great one!

Mary, how do they correct metal poisoning? How do you get it? I plan on having a subway turkey sandwich with their spicy onion dressing tonight since I'm on my own for dinner.
BOB, everything is better on the grill unless it is fried :nono:
Bid just went in and my stomach was in knots. They are so stressful and we did not get the job. Another one Monday. This is making me old quick.

I went for a bike ride last night with my daughter, up a relatively steep hill, across the top of the hill and back down into town. I felt like I had rubber legs when I got back. But the scale moved in the right direction, so I may do it again tonight! In fact, I probably will!!

Mary,
Sorry I missed your question. Yes, I watched the movie. I loved it (hated the subject). I wouldn't advise your son watching if he's not old enough to understand the meaning behind the movie. Totally different from the Pianist (it was on cable yesterday) in the way it's presented. Don't miss it though. I'll be surprised if it doesn't take some awards.

Bob: my daughter and I loved Bride Wars. I'm a Netflixer now, too! Last night we watched the new(er) Indiana Jones movie. I love Netflix.
Solly: I'm back up to 183. I think I'm retaining water. I feel a little bloated, in spite of riding my bike like a maniac and staying true to plan. Discouraging to say the least.
Okay...off to get ready for church!

Hello everyone! This will be short as I hit my head when I fainted at seeing BOB's post! :)
naw, just kidding.
I had a good time in Chicago visiting family and attending my sister's doctorate party. I got to talk to her colleagues and they were glowing in their praise of her...so I had to tease her a lot so she did not get too stuck on herself. :s:
Today I am decorating a wedding cake. Its an unusual one...in the shape of a Totoro. (Japanese anime')
Tom got some bad news from the doctor the other day...his cholesterol was up as was his glucose levels. Since he is a slender, eager exerciser, he was not happy. We are back to lower fat eating. Good. Hopefully it will help me as well.
I need to go eat breakfast and get going on these cakes. Will check in soon!
BOB: I am sorry to hear about your job! Tell Kate hello! Lets catch up soon!

Hi....You lovely blessed angels
Nothing new here! Looking for Yoga classes in my area, I'm jumping ship.
My doc thinks a change in career is inorder & I agree......somewhat. LOL
Have a Very Blessed Day.
Meowee : I pray you will be healed...SOON! Hang in there.
Bob : LOL :D I'd never let our son watch anything other than PBS or Sprout. I meant that it would be to hard to watch a Concentration camp movie. Too real & I'd feel the pain of all the helpless mothers who lost children to such monsterous actions.
solly : I'm trying to correct the Heavy Metal poisoning by Chelation therapy (intervenious) & Bentonite Clay bathes (draws out metal) I'll retest in 2 months. I used to smoke ...Arsenic & Cadium, I clean houses...Nickel,lead & Cadmium, etc & I have "silver" fillings...Mercury,lead,nickel & who knows what else. It takes 2 years for it leave your bone marrow. GROSS !!!
Hang in there with those bids & try not to stress. :dizzy:
techwife : Bike rides are so much fun & Teriffic exercise. Keep up the great work.
