Alot of people hate to exercise. Well I love it. I have a hard time watching what i eat but exercise is a no brainer for me. If I have to miss a workout i am beside myself. I love love love it! But I think even I would find trudging on the treadmill boring if it weren't for my music.

My music is as important to my success as exercise, food, and 3FC. It gives me that energy I need, it helps me escape, makes me feel like moving! I thought I'd share my most recent play list with you all. :carrot:

A whole lotta Britney. Her latest two albums (Circus and Blackout) are excellent workout albums!

14. Get the Party Started: Pink
15. Give Up the Funk: Parliament
16. Go Your Own Way: Fleetwood Mac
17. Gonna Make You Sweat: C+C Music Factory

That's if I play the shuffle in order rather than shuffling & that takes me through one workout & the cooldown afterward.

I think the music's critical to my workout if I'm in the gym. I believe that I actually go into a trance-like state, or some kind of meditative state & the music is critical for me maintaining a certain level of energy through my workout. When my iPod gets sick & stops playing (sweat in it, running down battery), it really screws up my workout.

:carrot:My daughter downloaded 150 of my favorite songs to my i-pod and it is GREAT to work out to!! I just shut my eyes and go!!! It has a little of everything on it from the 70s and 80s, some country, some new music like Gwen Stefani (Holler back girl) older rock like Queen and she through in some soul! I love to work out too Sexual Healing from Marvin Gaye!! I have been on the elyptical just stepping away and lip syncing to look up and see people looking at me like "what the heck?" but I just smile and keep on moving! Alot of the music takes me back to other times in my life and I can reflect and remember and then my work out is suddenly over! I will put down 10 good ones!

i totally am with you on the love-to-exercise-but-eat-like-a-maniac bandwagon. i wish it wasnt so easy to eat up all those calories i can work off! any whoodle GIRL TALK is the best thing to exercise to ever. i dont know if you are familiar but he is a dj and each song he makes is a mash up of about 20 different songs. perfectttt for exercise as it gives you these great little intervals to go crazy hard and then take it back down. i think you can still download his new cd 'feed the animals' for free at ...i tthink the website is called 'illegal art' or something like that. but yeah highly recommended.

Betcha' my songs are older than your songs. Ha! But I agree--the Ipod has made all the difference. I don't really listen to my music except when I am exercising so it makes me look forward to listening and sweating.

ROFL! I understand poor, that's what we are too. Do you have used CD shops near you? What about used computer stores? My 23 year old sister found an iPod in great condition for my mom to give our other sister (20 years old) for Christmas. Sure it wasn't brand new, but you'd never know it.
I believe she got a 4GB Nano for around $60! (That's the same one my husband got as a gift from BIL two years ago and it sure wasn't $60)

I bought myself one as a Christmas gift. My husband never buys me anything so I said screw it and just did it. First time in 14 years I've done anything like that. Thank goodness for Bill Me Later! LOL!

BTW, my 9 year old was sorta hinting he may like an iPod for his birthday. WalMart has the 1GB iPod Shuffle for $48! That holds 240, 4 minute songs!

If I can't find him a good used one, that would be the one I get him. It comes in cool colors too.

As for music, now that I am starting to workout, I agree, music IS important. While the songs I have listed are newer, I am really more of a classic rock and 90's grunge/alternative/punk kinda gal. Obviously I am open to lots of types of music though. My favourite band of all time will always be the Beatles.

However, now I am gonna go look for some ELO for my workout music! DH will love that. He is almost 7 years older then me. :D

I like some nasty old Peaches for workouts. Good beats, fun lyrics, she's my workout buddy now. With those x-rated lyrics I always feel like I have a great secret in the weights room. If only those big 'roids dudes knew what I was rocking, they could build muscle like me!

I also rock a lot of 90's rock, particularly old Riot Grrl bands. Throw in a little 70's dirt rock and I've got a great workout!

You and me both my dear. My dad bought himself a new iPod touch so I got his old iPod nano. But before that I had a cheap $20 mp3 player from Walmart and it did the trick. I think it held like 50 songs which is more than I even put on my iPod anyway.

When I'm needing motivation to get into jogging (a new activity for me), I listen to the Cardio Coach workout from http://www.cardiocoach.com. I love it! It's very motivating for me.

My music list that I use while I'm weight training or just using the treadmill includes the following bands: The Hives, Cake, U2, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, OK Go, The Von Bondies, Nirvana, Radiohead, The Kinks, The Pretenders...and sometimes I mix in a variety of world music that's more Arabic in nature, just to shake my groove thing!

I always end my set with OK Go's "You're So D@#% Hot"

There's some good music in this thread! Thanks for Fight the Power and Crushcrushcrush :)

I get bored quickly, so I have about 10 playlists and I change them weekly. There's a lot of stuff on there. I used to only have fast tempo stuff but I've been trying to branch out lately. Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Knicks
Refugee - Tom Petty
Sun is Shining - Bob Marley
Voodoo Child / Fire - Jimi Hendrix
Well Respected Man - The Kinks
Fortunate Son - CCR
Fire on the Mountain - Grateful Dead
Jungle Love - Morris Day
Move on Up - Curtis Mayfield
Never Say Never - Romeo Void
Love Will Tear us Apart - Joy Division

Ok, I have to stop or this will be 12 pages long :D
