:patrick: SAINT PATRICK'S DAY 5K :kissluck:

I know I am pushing you all a little hard right now....and I feel real bad about it.....:lol3:

But too bad - so sad :(

:goldpot: SAINT PATRICK'S DAY :cupgold: is almost a month away. You have plenty of time to get out and train....

and besides my dear wife ANGIE is half IRISH and I know I will need to get a few extra miles completed to burn off some of those corned beef and :broc: cabbage :broc: calories I will consume with our tradional meal on the 17th of MARCH

and YES I know that is a jumpin' broccoli above but it was green...

and besides our family tradition of corned beef and :broc: cabbage :broc: only gets served about every other year anyway....

rules and traditions are made to be broken! :)

And that is why we are not waiting for :easter2: EASTER to get our :bunny: little bunny tails movin' again :bunny2:

If you have never participated in one of our 3FC 5K's here are the rules...

You may do 3.1 miles anyway you want....run ~ walk ~ jog ~ bike ~ mall shop it ~ treadmill ~ swim ~ wheelchair ~ ANYWAY YOU WANT!

WHY? :irish:

because the purpose of all this nonsense is to get up and get movin'!

So pick your numbers and get movin'! :luck2you:

If you have any questions just ask....the TEAM will answer them for you....:luck2you: GOOD LUCK!

Count me in again - any number works. I'd love to be biking by then but probably lucky to walk outside. The snow does love to hang on around here!

02-21-2009, 07:05 PM
Baby Catcher is IN!!

02-21-2009, 07:13 PM

Any number is fine. I'm hoping that this one will be OUTSIDE

02-21-2009, 09:48 PM
I've been running on the treadmill lately but hesitated joining the last challenge. Since I ran my personal best distance the other day, I should probably "man up" (woman up? chick up?) and join! I hope my time will be outside, but we'll see if the weather cooperates.

Any number will do. Thanks, EZMONEY!

02-21-2009, 10:34 PM
since my bf and i WALKED the last one I will have to do this one and try to pick up the pace! I'm in!

02-21-2009, 10:40 PM
Can I be #1 this time? huh huh can I can I?!?!?!?!?!?!?

What ever number is fine...heehee

02-22-2009, 09:06 AM
Gary, count me in! Any number is fine. This time around I plan to run the entire 5K on the treadmill! Time to kick it up a notch! :woops:

02-22-2009, 10:55 AM
I've never done one of these challenges before, but I think I'm ready! Can I be number 8?

02-22-2009, 11:49 AM
Guess I'll have to get my green patoot movin instead of hoppin. #22 requesting a spot at the starting line for the 3rd 5K. Thanks race organizer!

02-22-2009, 11:56 AM
I'd like to join! Can I be #4? Doesn't look like it's taken:lucky:

02-22-2009, 01:12 PM

02-22-2009, 01:44 PM
I'm in- any number is great!

I've been planning to run a 10K on St Paddy's day and have been training for it for more than a month. I can't find a race to run here on that date, so I'll do this one with you guys, just a longer distance!

02-22-2009, 07:28 PM

02-22-2009, 07:37 PM
It DOES  NOT  AMAZE me what you women can do ....

JAHJAH knocks 20 minutes off....that's right! 20 minutes off her 5K time in 3 months!

3FC WOMEN 5K WOMEN (and their supportive S.O.'s and families) RULE!!

02-22-2009, 08:01 PM
Hey coach. number 35 is ready to run some butt off. Maybe it will be warm enough that I can get outside. We'll see.

02-22-2009, 08:15 PM
I will get you in MINDY!

02-22-2009, 09:38 PM
#9 reporting a 47-minute speed walk 5k today to get started w/ training.

It occurred to me that ever since I stopped running (hurt my knee) I have been saying I was going to start again... I think it's about time. =) Sooner or later I gotta stop saying it and DO it!

02-23-2009, 09:46 AM
Good Morning! I've been a slacker since Thanksgiving so this is exactly what my Irish butt needs to get'er moving again!

So count me in Please #93!!!!:luck2you:

Thanks Gary!!

02-23-2009, 11:06 AM
I'm in! Any # is fine. Sore knee or not...I am doing this one!!!! If worse comes to worse, I'll have to break it up, but I WILL do it!

02-23-2009, 12:08 PM

02-23-2009, 01:25 PM
I'm in! Any number is fine. This is going to be my first 5K attempt!

02-23-2009, 10:06 PM

02-23-2009, 11:55 PM
I have added all of you ~ GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!

02-24-2009, 01:02 PM
Hi Gary! I'm in. I run 5Ks on a treadmill 3 times a week. I forgot to put up my 5K time for Valentines Day (and don't want to bump the thread), which I did on a treadmill two Saturday's ago. But it was predictably, 33 minutes 18 seconds! HA HA!

If I can't get outside in March, I'll do it on the treadmill again and try to work up to 5.8 MPH! And I'll let you know what my time is.

All I want to do is run outside! Why is this winter SOOOOO awful.

02-26-2009, 04:27 PM
How's the training, everyone?

02-26-2009, 04:45 PM
My training update...
Monday was an absolutley gorgeous day in Denver, CO. So, I decided that I would ride my bike up the Cherry Creek Trail and make the park our halfway stop so my three year old could play (have a trailer on the back for him). It is about 4 miles to the park and let me tell you I was really pushing myself. I was trying to not beat myself up too bad because I am pulling about 70lbs behind me and I had already done a good cardio workout that morning.
We had our rest at the park and were getting ready to head home, as I pulled the bike away from the fence it felt like it was hung up on something. OH! the brake! I rode 4 miles with the break on the trailer!!! Needless to say, it was a very good workout but I had to take a couple of days off because everything hurt! Training begins again tomorrow!:D

Gary, can I be in this one if I promise to actually post results this time? :)

02-26-2009, 05:10 PM
Alright Gary, this was a tough one to join. I am going on Vacation that week, but I will run 5k on Saturday the 14th. I will also try to use the fitness center in the Hotel, but one never knows how good they are. I will be at Disneyland so I am sure that I will be getting in my 5k walking anyway.

02-26-2009, 10:11 PM
Wow, Buckeye!!!

02-26-2009, 10:15 PM
Hope you get outside NODS...say hi to my step-d if you see her in the city.

Great work-out BUCKEYE!....you could be on to something!

BABY CATCHER thanks for the support!

JENI when you get to Disneyland look about 60 miles south and you will see me wave!

SHANNON you are always welcome even if you don't post your results! It isn't about me...it's about you!!

02-28-2009, 05:45 PM

03-01-2009, 11:15 AM
JAHJAH...looks like you are at that I CAN DO ANYTHING stage....awesome...just awesome!

03-01-2009, 02:35 PM
I did 4 miles in 40 minutes today, which puts my current 5K at 30 minutes. Not sure if I will be shaving any time off my 5K times since I'm training for 10K right now.

Happy Apple
03-01-2009, 03:28 PM
How do you all feel about late arrivals? :)

You all sound like a great group and the 5k really got my interest. I have a question, though: do I have to do the 5K all at once, or can I take a break here and there? I'm just a bit out of shape ;), but I really want to join in. I don't care about my time, I just care about finishing, lol!

Gimme a number and I'm ready to go - I've got a date with a treadmill!

03-01-2009, 04:38 PM
RIVER....great job on the 10K training!

HAPPY APPLE...WELCOME! You may do the 5K in as many trips as you need. Starting is the most important part about our 5K's. You are in at #25...good luck!

03-01-2009, 04:42 PM
I'd like to join! I want to be number 44 cause that's my favorite number. ^_______^

03-01-2009, 04:54 PM
I'd like to be in on this as well! No special numbers!

03-01-2009, 08:26 PM

03-01-2009, 09:01 PM
Sorry you aren't feel too SUPER...J...hugs!

03-01-2009, 11:01 PM
Thanks, Gary. I'm really anxious to get back into it now that I have my resistance bands and my gowear fit, but I still feel really out of it.

03-03-2009, 10:54 AM
Im in. #77 :)

03-03-2009, 09:28 PM
got it PAMMY

03-03-2009, 10:41 PM
ok it looks like i *may* have to sit this one out. i think i finally need to accept the fact that my shin splints may be more than shin splints and are deserving of medical attention. will keep you posted...

03-04-2009, 09:34 AM
since I sprained my ankle last night, I might be out to :(

03-04-2009, 03:58 PM
Aww, you guys!!! I'm sorry to hear of your injuries!!!!

03-04-2009, 11:35 PM
thanks jeannette. sooo i went to a physical therapist today. i am officially out for this cycle. though maybe i can walk it or something. boo. was advised not even to use the elliptical or bike until next week. hope this doesn't make me lose momentum.

03-05-2009, 12:21 AM
I've doing my usual training, but not sure if I'll improve my time on this one

03-05-2009, 08:06 PM
Sorry for all the injuries gals....HUGS!

Guess we will need a "bunny hop" 5K to get you up and going again!

03-07-2009, 05:10 PM
wow, everyone's injured! I hope you all heal soon! =)

I'm being LAZY... I mean, I'm still walking but my plans to incorporate jogging/running are not working out too well. (and when I say "not working out," I mean, I'm just not doing it).

03-07-2009, 08:07 PM

03-08-2009, 03:36 PM
I'm in! Can I have number 2,315 this time?

Or #27. :D Whatever works.

03-08-2009, 05:29 PM
You're in JEN!

03-09-2009, 07:28 PM
I'm having fun training for this - I've gone from walking 5K, to walking 5K faster, to doing some running intervals! :woops: One more week to go...

03-09-2009, 09:01 PM
im gonna be doing this one outdoors since i have a garmin now:carrot:. i'm gonna try and find a flatter route for the 5k lol

03-10-2009, 11:56 AM
I've been debating whether to do this one or leave it alone for a while. My knees are not good so I've not run since the Valentine 5k. But I will do this: I'll do a 15k on my exercise bike to make up for not running as I usually do. If the weather is fine I might be able to walk a 5k but no promises on that one. So am I in???

Forgot to mention that the next empty number is good with me. Don't know where I'll be on the 17th as we are expecting our first grandchild on the 19th and my FIL is in hospital dying and there could be a funeral anytime now. So if you don't hear from me you'll know circumstances got in the way.

03-10-2009, 11:20 PM
Isabella we can only do what we can...I am pretty sure we will have another 5K....wink....think bunnies...

it's good to be outside!

LoveLosing So glad you are training and still here!

03-10-2009, 11:41 PM
I totally messed up my legs. So, doing a 5K per day is not smart. Oops. I'll be ready!

03-11-2009, 09:35 PM
OH! Bumpity Bump! We can't let this get lost!!!! :D

03-12-2009, 07:11 AM

03-12-2009, 07:46 PM
well i just wanted to say that over the last 4 days i was trasining on the eliptical and dropped my time about 5 mins an day i went from 50 min down to about 40 - 35 minutes so i am happy with that i will see how much more i can shave off before i actually do it.

Well gals I am working almost 100 miles from home next week with a heavy commute on the way home, especially if we work 10 hour days (not sure yet) anyway, I have to work this week-end too ....so....I had a chance to take the mutts out for 3.1 after work today...

the time was not great....ya see...we met the kids coming home from the elementary school on our way back...they just love my golden retrievers

It was a great walk though...we hustled when we could....

TIME ~ 61 Minutes

TIME WITH KIDS ~ Never enough ;)

Great job, EZ!!!

03-14-2009, 01:23 AM
My time wont be great this 5K either because of my allergies :(

But at least im getting up and doing it!:D

03-14-2009, 06:07 AM
Great time for a 5KWD (With Dogs), EZ! I always feel guilty counting walks with mine as "exercise" because we stop so much - for all the same reasons you did, plus other dogs who need to be greeted and Interesting Smells that must be investigated.

03-14-2009, 07:58 AM
Can I join..??, I'm new at this. don't really now how it works, but I'm planning to jog 5K this march 17..

03-14-2009, 12:58 PM

All are welcome Theresia!

Great job EZ! But all the driving and working...booohissssss :dizzy:

03-15-2009, 10:27 AM
Can I post my time? I ran 5K yesterday, for the first time in a while (I've been sick, and have been trying to get rid of the congestion in my lungs). But I finally ran 5K. Yay! On the treadmill, 2% incline: 40 min, 2 seconds. :D I am nothing if not precise. ;)

03-15-2009, 07:35 PM
well here are my results thus far yesterday and today both times are around 40 min. on the eliptical yes i could have gone for a walk outside to day it was beautiful out but i stayed inside we still have alot of snow that needs to melt and that means alot of ice this time of year.

03-16-2009, 07:33 AM
I did my 10K yesterday outside, 1:06. The first 5K took 33 minutes so I kept a pretty steady pace overall. I should be able to do the 5K tomorrow in a faster time, I'm going to shoot for under 30:00 which would be easier on the treadmill than outside. That all depends on the weather.

What time of day is everyone doing their run?

03-16-2009, 10:31 AM
Hi, is it too late to join the St. Patrick's Day 5k? or should I wait to sign up for Easter 5k. I think this time I can do it.

Thanks :)

Shannon in ATL
03-16-2009, 11:12 AM
Hi guys! I'm ready for the 5K this time! I did 5.5, miles in 1:06 the last time I was out, so I think I should be able to do the 5k in around 36 minutes. I'll post updates tomorrow! Hope it doesn't rain!

03-16-2009, 03:08 PM
Today's the day for me... yesterday I had a power walk in about 47 minutes. Today I'll try to throw in a little jogging and see how I do.

03-16-2009, 09:05 PM
I did my 5k in 42 min. I actually jogged most of it. I am aiming to get under 40 min when I do a 5k in June.
