Hello and welcome everyone old and new! This is our new TEAMS challenge!
We will weigh in every Friday, and hopefully by tomorrow or Saturday we'll have our teams decided upon.

Please still let me know (new challengers and old challengers) if you do want to be on a team! For everyone who does not want to be on a team, you can be in a group on non-teamers :carrot:

I'm really excited to start our new challenge and hope we have some new comers as well as all of our regulars

Here is a link to our old challenge as well.

So far we have a few people have agreed to doing teams, and as you agree through email or here in chat I will add you to the list! We have Me, Darby1, FatChickBGone, Joyra, Quillie, ZinkeMomx2 and HaleyGirl82.

I'm not sure how the teams work? I think I wouldn't be great for a team, I'm so close to goal and losing so slowly. I'm not restricting calories so I'm not going to be pushing to help the team win. I'm more like easing into maintenance.

jillnicole03
02-19-2009, 03:58 PM
Well I'm going to divide us all dependant on our weight, so I'm thinking we'll have 2 or 3 teams depending on how many people would like to do it, so I'd put someone like you on one team (with a small amount to lose) and someone else that is around goal on the other team :)

That way you can still be helpful to your team, support and all, but if you'd rather do just regular weighins instead that is fine also! :)

I'm happy to be on a team, I just don't want to pull anyone down! :D

Quillie
02-20-2009, 07:17 AM
Weighing in at 213 this morning! I actually gasped when I saw the number. Glad to see many people joining, and of course nobody cares whether you have a lot to lose! It's all for a bit of extra motivation!

Just in case if you are a late comer to our challenge,

I will not have the teams set up until Monday

so feel free to join still,

or you can just weigh in and not be on a team too! Just let me know.

Weigh in this morning was not good. Part of it is ovulation which always bounces the scale up for me. The other part was just LOTS of bad food choices. Once again though I am back on plan.

Hi again everyone! Ive been gone for about a week thanks to a pesky virus pooping up my computer and internet....but Im back! And with a BAD weigh in!
Im up to 212 this week, which is 2lbs up since a few weeks ago. But, Im not ready to move my ticker, because I`ll get rid of those 2lbs asap.
Im deffinately in on the teams thing if its not too late.

Darby1
02-20-2009, 01:12 PM
Hey Kids,
Bad bad weigh in for me (219). I think that's where I started. But I knew it was coming and now it's going! I have one more social thing (lunch today) but I canceled tomorrows night at the martini bar (we're doing it next month instead).

Good job, everyone!

Welcome Urthworm!

I'm really excited about the teams. I think it will be fun!

jillnicole03
02-20-2009, 01:34 PM
Well for those of us who had bad weighs ins this week, a nice thing this is the start day of our new challenge :)

So no worries about the past! We are looking to the future ;)

I'm really excited about teams too.. I can't wait to get them set up, but I want to give everyone until Monday to join! :cheer2:

I'm on my last few lbs... today I was 137 and I'm thinking I'd like to be 120 (but I do remember being 125 and pretty happy so we'll see when I get there!) So I know my loss might be slow and I hope I don't disappoint my team!

jillnicole03
02-20-2009, 04:21 PM
Thanks Iris.. glad to see you around again! 137! You're doing great :)

Darby.. have you ever been to the museum of nature and science in Denver?

JackieRn
02-20-2009, 04:42 PM
I'm along the same lines as julie, I've lost 0.2 this week, I'm at 119 I don't have much left to lose.

jillnicole03
02-20-2009, 05:11 PM
No problem... I will put 1 person with little to lose on each team...

you are still beneficial because if you gain will be the only "set back" to a team... so that may help you stay on track??

So if you *want* to be on a team we'd be glad to have you, or if you want to weigh in on your own each week that is perfectly fine also :)

joyra
02-20-2009, 06:01 PM
My starting weight is 158.4.

I'm excited for the motivation of teams! I don't want to be the person to let our team down so I know it will make me try harder.

iriswhispers
02-20-2009, 07:20 PM
maybe if there are enough of us one team could be people who don't have a lot left to lose?

I'm pretty excited... I need some motivation because I've been very lazy lately!

UrthWurm
02-20-2009, 08:20 PM
Thank you for the warm welcome!
This sounded like too much fun to pass up. I can't wait to be a part of a team. :D

Anyways, my starting weight is 190.6 lbs
Not great, but I'm actually quite happy. I haven't been able to accurately weigh myself since I moved into my first apartment about a month ago (uneven floors). Thankfully I found myself babysitting at my mom's house today, and was happy to find I hadn't gained 15lbs, which I had been worrying about (bad choices went hand in hand with the adjustment of a new place). The last time I weighed myself was actually at 192.4 lbs, so I'm just a little pleased. It was a slow weight loss, but still, thankfully not a gain.

I look forward to progressing through everyone's support and motivation, and hope I can give as good as I get.
Congratulations everyone on your journey so far. You've done great!

Darby1
02-20-2009, 08:22 PM
Jill-I have been to the museum and it's pretty cool. Are you planning a visit? If you're into art the Denver Art Museum is very nice.

Ok, my husband took me to lunch today. We went to Watercourse in Denver. I ate SO much! It was so good. But now I feel so stuffed and disgusting. Ugh. We were going to walk it off, but it's so windy outside, it wouldn't have been pleasant.

Anyway, I'm ready for Monday!

I am interested in joining the team thing!!! I hope I'm not late! :o
Currently I weigh 224lbs:dizzy:

jillnicole03
02-21-2009, 09:19 PM
Justhave2try :welcome: you are not too late! We haven't choose teams yet, I'm waiting until Monday morning to set up teams to give everyone a chance to join :)

Glad to have you!

Darby... Sorry you ate too much! It's so hard not 2 at Watercourse! :)

Iris... I'm thinking will have enough 'close 2 goalers' to put on each team :) but we will see! I was hoping for enough people to put on 3 teams, but we might start with 2 until our first goal which will be St Pattys day :)

Urthworm.. we're glad to have you here! :) the more people the better to try and keep the weight off together!

Joyra.. that is exactly how I feel with teams as well.. hopefully it wil be a little extra push to stay on the right track!

jillnicole03
02-21-2009, 09:24 PM
The way the teams will be set up: (Also it is not too late to sign up for teams, teams will be set up Monday morning)

I'm going to divide us all dependant on our weight, so we'll have someone that is around 200 on each team, around 150 on each team etc.

I'm going to try and get it as fairly as possible! :)

Jill-thanks for setting this up! It must have been pretty time consuming, trying to make it even for everyone!

On that note, my "binge" lasted all weekend and by last night I was pretty much in a food coma. So I was happy to get up this morning and eat just an apple for breakfast.

Good luck, everyone!

jillnicole03
02-23-2009, 12:35 PM
Thanks :) Sorry about this weekend! I feel I ate more than usual this weekend, all healthy but still over what I should have had.. I'm about to start TOM so I think that has something to do with eating more and my bad mmood! :)

Fat Chick B Gone
02-23-2009, 04:30 PM
Thanks Jill - no worries :)

Darby - I ate ALL day yesterday too and feel like an overstuffed monster today. I was hungover and just an all around bad day. I don't do that often so I'm okay with it I suppose but ugh not really into food today either.

jillnicole03
02-23-2009, 09:28 PM
The PMS Monster came is here and gobbled up Jill, she is no where in sight! lol Ahhh I feel so yucky and am craving everything like a pregnant person or something :( Not fun. I'm trying as hard as possible but have decided to weave a little off track this week.

I feel if I allow myself a little extra than hopefully I wont fall off all together!

So everyone ets try to pick our team names by Fridays weigh in.. what do ya think?

Darby1
02-23-2009, 10:09 PM
Aww Jill, hang in there! It will pass . It's probably a good idea to have some planned treats so you don't go off the deep end.

jillnicole03
02-23-2009, 11:43 PM
Thanks Darby

Hey everyone... I've been looking up some possible team names for us.. here are some suggestions :)

Shape Shifters, Tons of Fun, DownSizing, Waist Away, Flabolous 5 or 6, Bringin Sexy Back, Zucchini Bikini, Holy Guacamole, **** Raisin Jalapenos, The Flaming Marshmallows, Sexy Stawberries, Dangerous Divas, Dream Team, The Cereal Killers, Killer Tofu,

That one was pretty catchy & just stood out to me. :D

Haley8203
02-24-2009, 06:48 AM
jillnicole- i think my favorite out of your list is Sexy Stawberries lol

We could also do names based on things everyone in the group has in common for example if everyone lives in cold/hot climates or if everyone likes to run or use a particular gym equipment or fave tv show or something like that

I got so mad at myself, but I am going to try my best for this challenge and lose weight
To help my self and the team! I am real excited about the date b/c its a week before

Hi Justhavetotry-
I'm on team 1 too and have no idea about what to call our team! I am excited though, about the teams. I think it will be very motivating!

Do you have any ideas for a name? Maybe something like Veggie Warriors? Too goofy? I'm terrible at names. I name all my pets after baseball players or t.v. show characters.

Anyway, anything you guys come up with is fine with me.

Good luck everyone!!

Darby1
02-24-2009, 03:03 PM
Justhave2try-I like that! It's fun! Hopefully the other team members will chime in soon.

In other news, I've spent the morning cooking lunches for my husband (spagetti), I made fat free Snobby Joes out of Veganomicon (to put on my potatoes) and I baked some hamburger buns. I haven't figured out how to make those without fat yet, so they'll be for my husband to eat his Snobby Joes. I also did a huge mountain of laundry. I feel so efficient today!

What I haven't done is work out, so I'm going to take a walk this afternoon.

Thanks for the feedback, Iris.

Did you get in your workout? My plans were foiled when I accidently cut my puppy's nail to the quick. Have spent the night trying to stop the bleeding, so no walk for us! Though I probably burned a few calories following him around, cleaning up his paw prints!

iriswhispers
02-25-2009, 12:13 AM
aw, poor puppy! I worked in a vet clinic for awhile... nail trims can be painful sometimes.

I didn't get my intended work-out but I did walk around a bit because I was driving and there was this huge fire, I just had to pull over and be a curious by-stander. However tomorrow I will hit the gym before heading home so that there will be nothing to thwart me!

Jushave2try
02-25-2009, 01:28 AM
Hey guys...looks like I'm on team 2 (sorry Darby1)....So earlier I was thinking of a group name and I thought of the Steam Team...My idea behind that was that veggies are best when steamed and that when we start shedding pounds we will be steaming too!!! lol...Let me know what you guys think!:)

I heard a really sweet saying yesterday that I wanted to share...

Loving the imperfections in others, makes us love the imperfecions in ourselves.

Ok TEAM 3 here are my VOTEs for our team name... Shape Shifters, Bringin Sexy Back, or Zucchini Bikini! Let me know if any of you want one of those names, or any other. :)

So I think my TOM cravings are finally over! Yay.
I have wanted a lettuce wrap though, sounds yummy, so I've been thinking of a few ideas, I can use either lettuce or cabbage for the wrap and these are my ideas for the insides: Kashi Rice & teriyaki sauce, or hot sauce depending on the rice flavor. Avocado, mango, sprouts & pepper... or maybe something with baked chickpeas.

Anyone have any healthy low cal lettuce wrap filling ideas?

Well, I FINALLY worked out today! I walked on the treadmill and even ran a little. Only about 7 minutes, but it was still exciting.

i just ordered a one year subscription to fitness magazine for $5.99 for the whole year that's crazy obv because of the economy and they figure if i like the mag i'll renew next year for the normal subscription price lol.

Ok Team 1 we need a name!!! what about Tofu stir fry lol wow that sounds good i really want some now! or the Broccoli Florets?

Love Broccoli Florets. Only idea I had was Seitan's Sweeties ;)

Heather-Seitan's Sweeties is a great idea....let's see what our other team members think.

I did 30 minutes of cardio kickboxing today, I have to do 2 more days of exercise before sunday or i have to do i think it was 100 jumping jacks for missing exercise commitment.

hey girlss
Welll today was a challenge...I'm taking a kickboxing class for school and my teacher made us do 100 burpees!!!( they are craazy) I never knew what they were until today~ its a jump into a squat thrust pushup and back up to a jump!! they hurt.. i didnt think i was going to make it through but somehow i did:D Anywayyssss Team 3 I think i love the Zucchini bikini babes:lol: very cute! So count me in.
Jillnicole: its TOM for me too and its soo funny the things you concoct when ur a vegan having cravings....today i took vanilla coconut milk yogurt and i made it into chocolate with some veg. choc. syrup and some cereal i felt like i had a sundae of some sort..Delicious!

Have a wonderful day!!

I know it's not officially weigh in day, but I had to share. I just broke out of the 190's and into the 180's. Stepped on the scale today to a 188.4!!I'm sorry, that's really exciting for me! I've almost broken past my adolescent weight. I'm almost at my lowest weight ever since middle school (scary)!

Anyways, as far as team names, I'm still keen on the Shape Shifters, but Zucchini Bikini Babes is a bit more fun. Can I vote for both? :D

Jillnicole, you're making that lettuce wrap sound good. D: Now I'm craving one! I tried one for the first time at Whole Foods & it was mouth watering deliciousness.

Haven't had any time to workout yet today, as I've been sleeping in till noon. Going to sleep at 3AM doesn't help, but I've also been feeling extremely tired (maybe because I'm sick?). Also, it's me & my sweetie's anniversary today! Too sick to do anything special, so we're just spending the day together and relaxing.

Urthwurm-Congratulations!!!! You must be so excited! Have a great anniversary!

I'm jealous of Chickpea and Haleygirl for getting to do kickboxing (but not jealous of the burpees!) I would love to take a kickboxing class.

Darby1-i can't take kickboxing classes though cause it's only offered at night at my school and I don't have childcare at that time so I do at home to dvds by my lonesome lol

TEAM 2!!!! (aka Twish, Joyra, JackieRN, IrisWhispers, Justhave2Try, and LentilBEan)

Can we agree on a name by Friday? The two suggestions so far are Steam Team and Veggie Vixens.

I am following my plan so far (sort of, minus 80 calories of unplanned carbs, even though I'm not usually a counter). My plan this week is to eliminate any unhealthy snacking = higher carb and to stick to wholesome, organic meals. God bless Amy and her frozen goods. She has come to my rescue twice this week! I am also trying to eat something in the morning ( I don't tend to get hungry until about 2 pm, so I have to remind myself to eat something earlier. Hopefully it will become a habit!)

What are your favourite snacks to stave off cravings? I usually keep pre-portioned baggies of almonds on hand, but I could use ideas for things that I can keep in my purse.

Veggie Vixens is cute for Team 2.

Fav snacks? Man, I wish that nuts worked on curbing my appetite but they do not! I could eat a whole container of nuts and still want more food. I like to eat clementines (30 cals) and giant carrots (30 cal). I find actually that sweetness helps me feel satisfied for awhile and if I have two, no big thing. The carrots take me forever to eat and peel so that keeps me occupied for awhile.

GOOD MORNING ALL

OK TEAMS
IF YOU COULD GIVE ME YOUR TEAM NAME VOTE WITH YOUR WEIGH IN TOMORROW, THAT'D BE PERFECT! MAJORITY WILL RULE ;)

Darby- I did have Cabbage Wraps last night.. mmm.. it was Kashi 7 grain pilaf rice w/teriyaki & mushrooms in a cabbage wrap.

JustHave2Try- Good jobn getting to the gym!

HaleyGirl- How do you like kickboxing? I really want to try it but am scared it will be too hard!

ChickPea- Dang girl! I bet you are sore!! Glad we're both dealing with trechorous TOM! He's so sneaky lol

UrthWorm- Great job!!! Haha sorry I gave you cravings but at least it's a healthy one lol Oh and Happy Anniversary!!

Twish- Awesome on trying to stick to organics :) Amy's stuff is really good. My snacks would be spicy backed chickpeas, fruit, salad, cheerios dry.

Wow! Im completely slacking on coming online and being an active member of my team! Ok, I`m officially checking in everyday! Its actually another proud reason in my life that I havent been on often....Last week my 7 month old son started pulling himself up on the couch and on the table and on the step stool and on anything he can get his hands on. Then he started walking along the furniture and then he strated trying to walk away from it!! Hes 7 months old and trying to walk! This is really awesome, but it use to be that I could put him on the floor and check in here and not think too much about it, but now I need my eyes on him constantly, and I need to constantly console his booboos everytime he forgets that hes too little to walk. And then theres the frantically crawling after the cat and getting scratched or trying to eat his food....wow...he got so active so fast!
BUT, Im figuring it out and I promise to not let the team down! This team thing has already been great motivation for me and Im excited for weigh in. February was a bad month for me but Ive kicked my own butt and decided that Im being good. No more vegan chocolate pudding! (Id share the recipe with you guys but its really not good for you...)
Anyway, I love either name for team 3 Or, we could beat up all the members of team 2 and steal veggie vixens because that one is awesome!

Good morning Veggie Teams!! :D

Thanks for all the congrats & support for my mini victory. It was unfortunately right after my mid-morning weigh in that I discovered the trouble that was truly brewing on the horizon: TOM had hit. Now I feel like I have to work extra hard to stay on top of myself. I've been doing good so far, but then again, it's only been a day. ;) Still time to F*up. The best thing I can do for myself right now though is just fight my way through it, one work out at a time. I refuse to venture back into the 190's!

Chickpea & Haleygirl, nice going with the kickboxing! Great way to stay active. Speaking of kickboxing classes, I just finished one last quarter. It was actually a lot of fun and a good workout. (Don't be afraid to try it Jillnicole, you might really like it!)

Twish, I applaud you on the food choices! Organic meals are definitely the way to go!!

Erin, that must be so exciting!!! Sounds like you have your hands full with that one, but it must be great.

Just to throw some ideas out there for team names how about: Leafy Ladies, Gorgeous Green Girls (The GGG claims no relation or affiliation to that other organization with three simultaneous letters!) , Slimmin' Women... Lol they are all pretty random.

UrthWurm-Congrats on getting out of the 190s!!

jillnicole03-I love kickboxing but for me it took some getting used to for the first couple of times but after that it's my favorite type of exercise...i use dvds by janis saffell www.janissaffel.com they have them on ebay too

i got 100 on my business law exam today so im happy about that and i did go to the gym at my school for 40 minutes

Jushave2try - an HOUR on the stairmaster? you rock!! I work part-time in a lab where the glassware is in the basement and the chemicals I need are on the 3rd floor so I am always running up and down, but I don't think I could do it for an hour straight!

haleygirl - congrats on your exam!

Twish - i love Amy's foods too, in fact I had one of her burritos for dinner tonight! =)

as far as snacks - for me i like to have things I can munch on for awhile, so high volume for low calories is important. Tonight I had an individual bag of popcorn that was 130 cals and I got to munch away for a good half hour. Perfect!

There must be something in the air, because I walked home and have been sneezing and sniffling ever since. Ugh, allergies.

Thanks to everyone for the really good (and simple!) snack ideas.

As a warning to my team... I'm pretty sure I'm retaining water these last couple of days (PMS), so not sure I'll contribute much, if anything, to our tally..

I've got good news and bad news! My starting weight for this challenge was 215 and I'm down to 214.5, so that's only half a pound. However, I weighed myself on Monday after my horrible long weekend of eating and my weight was up to 222!!! So I've actually lost 7.5 lbs, but sadly it doesn't count in this weigh in.

My vote-Seitan's Sweeties

My weight-214.5

Erin-your little boy keeps you going, doesn't he?

Twish-good job on the loss!!

I'm impressed by how hard some of you are working out!! It inspires me to work harder!

I will say that I think this team challenge is really keeping me in line. Every time I think about not working out or eating something off plan I think of how it will affect the team and I reel myself in!

Have a great Friday!

I am inspired by everyone's workouts, too.

I sprained my ankle badly during a fall (went to hospital in an ambulance) at the end of January, so I can't do anything too high impact until March 17 (8 week anniversary). I have been wearing a pedometer and trying to hit 10 000 steps a day, but I find if I push myself, even with walking, my ankle is killing me (like today).

So, I am going to focus on the good eating again over the next week and keep trying with the pedometer. Maybe aquafit? I've never done it, but an athlete I know who has suffered a lot of injuries said it's a great cardio workout and low impact on all joints. Problem is that It involves a bathing suit and I haven't worn one in years.

Can I just take a moment to say how liberating it is to be able to talk about all of this? None of my friends are heavy and I just don't talk about any of these issues with them. I've been part of this for under a week and I can't believe what a change there has been in my outlook just from being able to share with people who have common experience and are a source of inspiration.

So- THANKS!!!

Sorry I disappeared for a while, I missed out on this whole team business, but I guess I will carry on being a team of one.:D We went on our (long awaited) honeymoon vacation last month, then as soon as I got back I was working like mad for a big event. I felt like I was spending every waking hour at work, weekends too. :( Then to top it all off I got sick the day after the event last week. Still digging out from all the wrap up stuff, but at least I’m back to more reasonable work days! Been feeling better this week, I’ve been eating pretty well and doing my training runs and even made it to yoga class.

twish – Sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope it’s all healed up soon. Water exercise is a great idea in the mean time.

Ive been struggling with a sore shoulder for almost a month but this week I decided that Im noy using that as an excuse anymore and Ive gone for a 5km run 4 times this week so far. Seitan is soooo yummy... its actually wheat gluten, you should definitely try something. It's my fav fake meat!

SO today I had a great salad for lunch, home made, and wanted to share something... I bought a bag of frozen artichoke hearts, put some in a bowl- salt & pepper then put a lid on top, microwaved them (to steam) andin about 2 minutes I had delicious artichokes on my salad! Sooo good!

So today was a good day. Last week I went to the gym 6 times, and today I still felt excited and motivated to go. At the gym, I ran for 6 km on the treadmill (the farthest I have ever gone before was 5) and at the end, the only reason why I stopped was because all the machines were taken and there was a lady waiting (there is a half hour max on the equipment)...at the end I felt like I could go forever. It was amazing. I lost a pound of sweat in that hour (hot, huh?)
So, tomorrow I am so excited to go. I have a goal of being able to run 10km and weighing 190 by mid may, and right now for the first time I actually feel like that attainable.
I think Ive just discovered that having an honest faith in myself is the best motivator I have ever had. For all the reasons to succeed, not wanting to disappoint myself is the best ever.

Erin-that's awesome!!

Haley-Can you post the chili recipe? Also, good luck with your surgery!

We've been having really nice weather lately, so Jill and I went hiking Sunday (I'm guessing it was between 3 and 4 miles) and yesterday I went on a 4 mile hike with my husband. I am loving this weather! Looks like we'll be back into winter by Saturday, though, so I'm going to try to get out a few more times before then.

Have a great day, everyone!!

Spicy Mexican Chili
2 cups dried red beans
1 medium onion -- chopped
2 stalks celery -- chopped
7 ounces green chiles -- canned
1 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon oregano -- ground
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 bunch green onions -- chopped
2 teaspoons lime juice
5 cups water
1 medium green bell pepper -- chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
28 ounces chopped tomato -- canned
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup cilantro leaves, whole -- chopped
dash tabasco sauce

Place beans and water in a large pot. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for an hour.

Add the remaining ingredients except for green onions, cilantro, and lime juice and cook an additional 2 hours.

Add green onions and cilantro and cook an additional hour.

Stir in the lime juice. Put in seasonings and stir in some tabasco sauce if desired.

"McDougall All-You-Can-Eat Cookbook page 22"

I don't think it's very spicy so if you like it hot add more of the spicy seasonings

Darby1-Thanks for wishing me luck...I imagine it will be uncomfortable to swallow so maybe it will help my weigh in lol

hey all, veggie vixen checking in! I am exhausted, just finished a proposal for a project (really haven't slept in about 48 hours) but other than a bag of chex mix I didn't over-do it eating while i was working. Yey!

Hope you all are having a good week, and I will be back tomorrow once I've gotten a chance to sleep!

Well I just left class and I'm at Whole Foods. So I was wondering does anybody have any ideas that I can make for dinner since I'm already here!!!??
thanks for any inputs!

Sorry I haven't been checking in. I officially have no internet, so I'm only posting because I'm at my GF's mom's house. It's pretty difficult right now because I have no hours at my official job, and the only money I'm making is from my online business. I had applied for foodstamps as did my GF, and we were both getting support until we found out today that she'll only be getting $16 a month now instead of $176!!! They added her income for December from our online businesses, and decided since she made $2000 that month that she doesn't need support for the other 11 months of the year! Now we're making barely enough to pay rent, and perhaps the bills, but eating is apparently out of the question. I already spent my food stamps this month on stocking our pantry with spices and some frozen veggies & pasta. I'm thinking I should return half the crud I bought and try and make that money last for the month. Just oatmeal for breakfast, salad for lunch, and soups for dinner. We'll probably do okay if we go off that (I hope!).

Haley8203
03-04-2009, 05:39 AM
UrthWurm-Do u you have a store like Mr. G's, where the dented cans and smooshed boxed food go, they usually take food stamps and it's much cheaper.

jillnicole03
03-04-2009, 09:11 AM
Iris.. good job on not over snacking! Chex mix can be hard to resist :)

Ok Rikki I will start you at 214.6, the challenge started Feb 19th :) Shananigans is also weighing alone, so you can be each others support, as well as have everyone else still! :cheer2:

Urthworm... I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time!! One cheap thing you can buy is a big thing of spaghetti sauce and cheap spaghetti noodles, that always lasts awhile for me for cheap. and Haleys idea is also a good one.. can food stores are awesome. Big Lots can be good for odds and ends, and a lot of towns have places where you can go get food boxes.

jillnicole03
03-04-2009, 09:14 AM
By the way, I can't give you an official winner of last week, because we had a few people who did not weigh in, but out of the people who did weigh Twish lost 5 lbs last week!

Way to go Twish... so the Veggie Vixens of Team 2 are week 1 winners :cheer2:

Hey Urthwurm-Sorry you're going through such a tough time. I've heard a lot about Angel Food Ministries. I don't know how much vegetarian food is in a box, but apparently you get a lot of food pretty inexpensively, and anyone can get it.

Jill-I know you're leaving tomorrow, so I just wanted to tell you to have a safe trip! Let us know when you get home safe and sound!

Haley-your chili recipe looks good. How did surgery go?

iriswhispers
03-04-2009, 03:27 PM
Angel food is really great price-wise but at least in PA where I know we had it it was a LOT of meat. But maybe you could look into that and "trade" with someone who eats meat?

Haley - hope surgery went well!
urth - eek sorry, dried beans, cheapo pasta, canned veggies. It's not ideal but hopefully it will get you through in a pinch.

I've been uber busy girls, sorry for not being around! I am out of town right now on business in Elgin, SC. It's sorta near Columbia. I did drive into Columbia last night and got a hot meal - seitan delmonico from Rosewood Market. OMG it was soo good! There is a totally veggie and mostly vegan place in downtown also but I dont' think I'll have time to make it there before I leave :(

Hi ladies,

I am posting to vent and as an alternative to getting into the car and driving somewhere where I can buy yummy chocolate. Must distract myself till the shops close! I am so hungry right now- even though I just ate and satisfied. I am hungry from the place that only chocolate can fill, thanks to TOM. This is the first time I have felt really hungry since I started a week and a half ago. I ate a bit more today (extra piece of multi grain bread and a couple of extra spoonfuls of dal (Indian lentil soup/stew)). Drank a V8. Doubled my almond snacking. Some part of me still wants the chocolate.

That actually worked. I feel better after putting that out there. And, I just remembered that I have a small dark chocolate square in my jewelry drawer (from a dinner somewhere?). Maybe that will do, without doing too much damage!

My best to you all in your struggles and triumphs!

Sometimes I just cannot resist myself either!!!
Yesterday I went to Whole Foods, went to the bakery/pastry side (I was playing with fire) and there it was a VEGAN NY CHEESECAKE!!! I bought it and ate and felt soooooooo GUILTY!!!!! Kinda felt like I let myself down!
So today is going to be a hard night at the gym!!!!

today was a tough day because I am out of coffee... will get more this weekend. Tomorrow I'm considering splurging on buying a cup. I never do that cos i'm trying to watch my money and I can't really afford it, but me without coffee in the AM is not a pretty thing!

Evening everyone. I've been trying to get my house reorganized and have been attempting to stay of the computer a bit. Food for the month has been pretty decent.

We are supposed to have quite a warm up for the next 4-5 days at least so hopefully I can get outside and get some exercise. I've also put a bug in DH's ear that I want the treadmill fixed. I know I could do it myself if I get desperate but it will give him something to do.

My TOM started this morning. It explains the whoosh of weight loss I saw this morning. My body is weird that I experience bloat during ovulation and then drop pounds when I actually start. My weight hasn't been this low since August 1st of last year when I was rebounding from a very disastrous Atkins experience.

Hey everyone, I just got home a couple hours ago, I had to spend the night in the hospital so they could monitor me since I don't have another adult at home with me. Everything went well, I'll get the results in a week or so. I didn't eat anything yesterday I just didn't feel like it and that never happens lol. today my stepdad brought me to denny's for my birthday I ordered a veggie burger and fries, I ate about 10 fries and I brought the rest home. I have a race next Saturday that I hope I can do even if I run slower if I'm not in pain or at least not so much that my meds wont help then I'm gonna go for it!

Twish - I think having a small piece of dark chocolate is a great alternative to going out and having a whole huge bar! Sometimes you just have to have a bite or two of chocolate ;)

Sorry Seitan's Sweeties - I'm up this week at 204.6. I'm not really surprised with TOM and my overeating this week. Honestly expected worst! Time to regroup and keep going!
I have a 5k tomorrow and I haven't really run in about 3 weeks. I've jogged with the pups a little on our walks and pretended to jog a little on the treadmill (gawd so boring). So I'm a little nervous. My throat is also very sore this morning so I'm afraid I might be coming down with something. Hoping not!
Have a great Friday everyone!

Weigh in - 176 same as last week. Oh well.

Fat Chick B Gone - Hope you have a good 5k, if you haven't really been training for it just try to have fun, enjoy the crowd, and don't worry about your time.

I've got almost 2 weeks of my half-marathon training under my belt, just my long run on Saturday left for this week (6 miles, yipe!), today is a rest day. But I'll still be getting some exercise when I clean the entire house after work today. We have a good friend from out of town coming to stay with us and we're hosting a little get together on Saturday night. I'm excited to see her, not so excited about all the cleaning and laundry.

Still need to weed some of those little extras out of my diet. Problem is, with all this running I am hungry ALL THE TIME. It sucks.

I have such a sweet tooth and I feel like I don't mind indulging in that crap!!! Ughhh...so my "abusive relationship" with sweets is officially OVER!!! I know we have been struggling sooo long to be good to one another, but sweets you are causing me more pain than good. Haley-I don't know how you can run after you JUST had surgery!! But I've had that horrible stingy feeling before on my skin. I'd had some moles removed and the doc said I could go back to working out. Ouch! Maybe you can wear a turtleneck or something around your neck to catch the sweat?

Hey guys....Im unexpectantly going away for 2 weeks starting tomorrow morning so I wont be able to weigh in. So, Im going to do a really early weigh in for this week so I only miss one, and next week I will attempt to do a second. As excited as I am for this trip, I am not optimistic of what my weight will be when I return home. Wish me luck!
Ok, this weeks weigh in is 206.
Good luck to you ladies! I will check in soon.

And KIMMY- I went to the post office today and the books had been returned because I must have written down the wrong address. I will bring them with me and attempt to mail them on my trip (I leave at 4 am so I wont have time tomorrow...) IM SO SORRY :(

Tomorrow's weigh in will be interesting w/ me on my period... but I'm keeping my fingers crossed and staying away from the sweets today!

I'm going to rest for a bit, I am completely washed out. My period makes me soooo tired, but I've also been stressed. Then reheating some "snobby joe" for lunch... yummy!

Erin: That's alright. Sorry for the mishap! Please contact me if you have the time to confirm my address. Maybe I wrote it wrong?

Ooh, Snobby Joes. I really want to try that recipe! The bean burgers I made turned out delicious! Especially with a little salsa on top!! :carrot:

Hey there!
I love my new scale! It says I'm 211. I'm not sure that's possible, especially with me being so close to TOM, but I'll take it!

Heather-I hope everything is going ok with your sister. Sending good thoughts her way and yours.

Erin-where are you going? How exciting to go on an unexpected trip!

Iris-I get the same way during my period. I'm exhausted and weepy. I hate it.

Jasmine-nice job on maintaining!

rdw1-how's Chicago? I would love to go there someday!

Jill-are you settling in ok? Happy to be home?

UrthWurm-I've got the beanballs on my list of things to make. I haven't made anything in that book that wasn't delicious!

Anyway, my wedding anniversary is on Sunday and we're making a nice dinner at home. I figure I'll have more control over calories than if we go out, but it still won't be low-cal! We're making Seitan Chimichurris and some sort of tofu satay out of the Candle Cafe cookbook. My husband is in charge of dessert, so who knows what he'll come up with!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

My computer is down so I am posting from the library. I am stressed about not being able to track my calories properly on spark. The good news is I am down to 240.0 as of this morning. Imagine lots of happy dancing going on here. I will be able to post again on Tuesday from the library again. Good luck everyone.

Hey Team

My weigh in this week is 221!!! :carrot:

I don't know about you guys, but I know for me I always feel like the scale at the doctor's office always "adds" a pound or two compared to the scale at home! But yesterday i went to the doc's office and THEY MATCHED!!! I am officially 10 lbs lighter from my starting weight! Which was my mini goal for the month!! I hope I can make my St.Patty's day goal of 219!!!

***Good Luck everybody!!! Lets go :devil:VEGGIE VIXENS:devil:***

I've been weighing in at 188-189 for almost two weeks! So imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale today to a 184!!!! I'm a pound shy of my birthday goal, but I don't seriously think I'll lose that in a day (especially since I'm going to pizza tonight to celebrate said Birthday). Anyways, wish me luck-- Juliano's is truly the best pizza establishment EVER, and a little too hard to resist! :carrot: I will indulge wisely.

WEIGHT: 184

132.5!!!! I like the scale number, but the pants-o-meter shows no change yet. my skinny pants still mock me.

I will be going out of town Tues., so I'll weigh early on monday if that's okay. I hope I'm still the same weight by then, weekends are always so tough! This is good incentive for me to stick w/ plan this weekend. =)

Today I'm 156.2.

I think I was that last week too. Ugh. BUT I have so much activity planned this weekend--swimming, ice skating, bowling, Wii Sports, DDR, stair climbing, strength training. I'll be so buff Monday morning. ;)

I didn't know about this until just now, so I'm sure it's too late for me to be on a team (let me know if it's not), but I'd love to weigh in with you guys! I'm a vegan that has 10 pounds to lose. I didn't weigh in today, but my last weight was 144.6. I'll weigh in next Friday to see if I lost. Good to be here!

Haley-congrats on the good news! Good luck on your run tomorrow!

Great job on losing and maintenance, girls.

If you feel like having a good cry (a happy cry) watch "Christian, the Lion" on youtube. They showed it on Oprah today and I bawled. It was so sweet.

Hey everyone,

I'd like to join a team when you have the next challenge! I currently weigh 169 lbs, and my next goal is 160. I'm going to Japan for two weeks on Monday, so hopefully that will help me lose a bit of weight since I won't be able to binge eat. I'm a vegan, and I started WW recently but don't know if I'll continue. I feel a bit silly paying $12 a week to get weighed... the meetings are so short! I guess I should invest in buying a scale. :)

Anyway, it's nice to meet you all! Good luck!

PeatrixPotter and idrinkcoffee-Welcome!!

Great job to those making mini goals

Busy weekend, no time to post! Down a pound to 175. Better than nothing, I'll take it.

haley - Good job on finishing and running the whole race!

My training run yesterday was 7 miles. I think I'll do some extra stretching today.

Welcome Peatrix & Coffee drinker!! It's good to have you.

So, surprisingly I reached my birthday mini-goal yesterday! I actually weighed 183lbs, which is exciting. I can now officially wear pants that I haven't fit into for 5 or 6 years-- scary!! My next mini goal will be to lose 4lbs by April fools, which gives me 2.5 weeks to get down to a joyful weight of 179.

Anyways, while I have been (surprisingly) losing weight, I haven't been doing much besides just eating better. The workout has been here and there and hardly anywhere in my daily life. Well this morning (thanks to a well won game of pool) both me and my gf got up, got our butts in gear, and hammered it out to Jillian Michaels 30DS. & I gotta say, I am so happy I did! I tried it before and quit prematurely. Now I intend to see it through. I was happily able to complete the whole video without making excuses or stopping, and have none of the jelly-leg syndrome which was present before. I feel stronger and more up to the challenge & I can't wait to tackle it one day at a time!

Todays weigh in was 239. I had to much sodium yesterday and it shows. I was 237.7. I must drink more water today. Our road finally dried up a bit so I've been able to take the kids out wogging. We did nearly a mile yesterday. :) We had to walk in a few spots due to some leftover ice. I wish it would melt already....

My GF & I got in a bad car accident yesterday. We got completely T-boned by a truck! The jerk ran a red light and then smashed right into the side of our car. Her dad is a mechanic and he said the frame of the car is completely wrecked, the car is just totaled. I'm just so happy we got out of it okay though... The truck seemed so huge-- he honked and we had just a moment to see his bumber right outside our window before the collision. My eyes were open when all this glass came flying past us. All I could think to do was put my hands over my head to try and protect myself from glass and flying metal scrap. The impact pushed us several feet up into a dirt mound right in front of 7 Eleven. I got my seat belt off and got out of the car as fast as I could (for some reason both of us thought the car might explode.. hah). I wanted to get out of there and walk home, since we were 2 or 3 blocks from her mom's house. But then there were all these people telling us to sit down, lay down, stay still. There were at least 20 witnesses, who all said he ran a red light, going probably 40 or 45mph. The driver's side door was smashed in so far it should have crushed her legs, but she had jumped towards the passenger side. Apparently we almost hit an electric pole on the passenger (my) side too. We're both okay, just bruised. Surpisingly for all that glass, we weren't cut but a few nicks. I'm not up to digging out the scale from my mother-in-law's closet to weigh myself. Therefore I'm defaulting back to my weight yesterday, which was 183. Sorry team!

Hey Teams:wave:
Soory I have been out of the loop!!! I am SO upset with myself...ok after my last weigh in I actually made my St.Patty's day goal..so i was sitting on 219 for like three days..then we had a surprise party at the house and my "ex-boyfriend" MR.SWEET had to show up!!! Ughhh...So yeah now lets just say its the day after goal and my weigh in is 222!!! one pound up from last weigh in!!! :(

Urthwurm-I am happy to hear you are ok!! Some people are just maniacs when driving!!!

*Definitely another challenge please!!!***

rdw1
03-19-2009, 12:13 AM
I, myself, am better with shorter term goals- doesn't leave me soo much time to think well, Ive got plenty of time ;) When is easter? I just looked and seems it is the 12th, which wouldn't be a very long challenge... what about till May1? Easter being a mini goal?

jillnicole03
03-19-2009, 12:07 PM
Sounds good... our next challenge will be until May 1st, with a mini goal of Easter! :P

Is it okay with everyone if we do not do individual teams, and one big team instead? Let me know by Friday... Friday is the start of our new challenge!
