GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's two of them, I think we need them both!:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

GROWING CONFIDENCE

Real, sustained self confidence comes from knowing you can do it, and knowing you can do it comes from the experience of actually doing it. Just as strong muscles are built by lifting heavier and heavier weights, confidence is built by taking on bigger and bigger challenges.

Even if your muscles are weak, there is some amount of weight you can lift, and as you regularly lift it, the muscles become stronger. In the same way, the confidence to take on major challenges is built through the experience of first taking on small challenges, and then working your way up.

Others may encourage you, yet no other person can actually give you your own confidence or talk you into it. Others may help you to believe you can do it, yet only by experience will you know without a doubt that you can.

The sooner you begin to accumulate that experience, the stronger and more quickly your confidence will grow. Where you are, right now, is a great place to start building the solid and unshakable confidence of achievement.

Start with what you have, with what you know you can do, and then add a little challenge to it. Soon you'll know without a doubt that you can do even more. As your confidence grows, so will your achievements, because the biggest achievements come to those who have the confidence to take on the most difficult challenges. Start small, continue to build a strong confidence based on experience, and you'll have something valuable indeed.

-- Ralph Marston

**************

WHAT YOU CAN

When the challenge first comes along, it looks to be overwhelming. And yet, you know you must get past it, so you do what you can.

Day after day, you do what you can, when you can, as well as you know how. And something amazing begins to happen. What you can begins to be more than what you could. You learn, you experience, sometimes you succeed, sometimes you fail, and most of all you grow.

You grow stronger each time you do what you can. At the beginning it doesn't seem like enough, yet with persistence it becomes more. What once seemed difficult, becomes easy. What once seemed awkward and uncomfortable, becomes natural and even graceful.

Taking on a difficult challenge can bring about a great accomplishment, yet it can bring so very much more. In challenge there is strength to be gained, there are lessons to be learned, there is a kind of nourishment that cannot be delivered in any other way.

If the challenge seems a bit too overwhelming, that's the one you want. Take it on and let it pull you up. Do what you can do, again and again, and what you can do will truly amaze you.

-- Ralph Marston

Hi all! Need to catch up on the weekend's posts, but I hope you all are doing well.

After a rocky weekend, I'm off to a good start today. Anyone here do the Denise Austin morning workout? I was channel surfing at 6am (I NEVER watch TV in the morning - dunno why I turned the thing on today), and found the Lifetime channel with the exercise routines. Thought "what the heck", and joined in, since Dan was already at work. :D

So, exercise out of the way for today *happy dance*. Now off to plan a healthful, SF day of eating!

All the best,

Jenn

ps - a friend of mine is trying to get her Dr. to prescribe Xenical (sp?) for her. I don't know anything about this drug, but I'm concerned that she's trying for a "fix" without modifying her eating and exercise habits accordingly. Is this drug safe? Will she be okay taking it? I'm trying to motivate her to at least start to eat better, but she's convinced it's the ticket. Can anyone at least give me the pros/cons so I can talk intelligently with her???

Thanks!

Good morning! Thank you Deb for today's motivational stuff. I sure needed it. I'm glad this is a new week. The last two have been filled with over eating and quilt from my last of self control. But today is a new day.

We did have a great weekend. My daughter won first in western pleasure and barrels in her 4-h horse club. She took overall senior division for the buckle. She is 14. :) All the kids were great. It's fun watching them.

Well, off to finish emails and start this week off right. Gonna try walking twice a day like I use to last year. See if that helps get things rolling again.

Love,
Crystle

Good Morning Ladies (and "D" man!)

Had a power sleep last night...something about the mountain fresh air, and then being back in your own bed! I had my morning of reckoning with the scale to see what the damages were being off-plan....I'm at 237. Was at 236 during my TOM, but before that had started when I was being an angel  I had seen the scale get as low as 233! What kills me is you have to be soooooo
patient to get the weight off, really stay OP, do the right thing, exercise, drink your water, but with a slip of the tongue, it all comes back on sooooo fast. Of course now, I wish I wouldn't have allowed myself to be off-plan this weekend:( .....that's okay...just a little lesson for the Nancemeister that being good equals loosing weight. I'll see if I can't get things to turn around this week, but probably won't have a good WIW for a week or two until I get back to where I was at!

Jenn from Min Regarding "Xenical"....don't worry too much about your friend taking it because I can gurantee you she won't stay on it for long! All it does is make your system elimate fat (from the fatty foods she is planning on still eating) and eliminating it by producing oily, diarrheaish bowel movements. It's like a roto-rooter and I haven't heard of one patient at our practice who has stayed on it! Like you said, it's just a quick fix. Hopefully you can be an inspiration for her to do things the "right" way. Hey...have you ever heard of "Mud Lake"? in Min?
I'll have to find my Country Living magazine, but they have the coolest house for sale a "Minnesota Farmstead" on 9 acres that was built in the late 1800's for $165,000. Couldn't believe it...hold on...let me get it and see if they list the town it's near by....Okay...got it...It just says"Minnesota's Northern Lakes Resort Area and has 288 feet of direct frontage on the western shore of Mud Lake"...the eal estate office is located in Walker, Minn. I'm ready to move....just how bad are those winters of yours?

[c]CountryMom That's so cool about your daughter. She must be so happy! I was in 4-h when we used to live out in the country. I grew my own sugar beets, and got to process them at the sugar plant. I think they came out to be about 2.5 pounds of sugar, but the smell in the processing plant....UGH...took me YEARS to get over that! 4-H is such a wonderful thing to be involved in. Glad to hear you are on a mission...two walks a day WOW!

Disappointed that Kathy did not win Survivor! Wondering about the scare to the water supply in Central Florida! Some mystery pounds have struck.... so I need to get busy burning them off. I stayed completely 100% OP - but may have just overeaten the legal stuff!!! I was ravenous yesterday!!!

Jenn - I have only heard about the side effect if you eat too much fat in your diet while on that medicine brings on some yuchy diahrea. You are right - it is just a quick fix....seems to me just not eating fat would be more pleasant.

Country - Congrats to your daughter! Sounds like a nice weekend :) The walking will surely get your blood pumping and make you feel good!!!

Nance - Sounds like you had a good weekend in the mountains! I know what you mean about the weight thing, up and down, how fast it comes back, I did not even go off the program, just ate more than normal - I hope mine is just water and will disappear - yours too!!!

Well, off I go to look busy at work - I finished all projects and now I am just cleaning and looking busy - it is going to be a boring week!!!

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

Whew! What a week it was last week-more twists and turns then my colon! LOL!! I really missed you all in more ways than one-but I'm back with a vengence this week.

Let me first say that that old wagon of ours had seen much better days. iI recent weeks it had been really put through the grinder and just couldn't be fixed any more, esp. after my mishap yesterday! It has finally met it's fate and is beyond of state of being able to be repaired! It has been given to those who look for scrap metal. BUT, the good news is-we have a brand new wagon that's ready for action and ready to pick up whoever needs a nice comfortable ride. I'm in the drivers seat and ready for anyone who wants to climb aboard to join me:)

Well, let me tell you about yesterday...now, I always tell you guys EVERYTHING and I've always been honest about how things are going with me. I wonder if my eating mishaps of late are good to tell you or not, as I wonder what you all think about my recent eating off plan troubles-is it better to tell, or not. I think better, esp. for me, I need confession, I need to be accountable and let you all know-but does this discourage you all?? Well, here you go-I'm hoping I won't be having any stories like this one ever again!

We had the luncheon on the ship yesterday with the teachers. It was VERY nice and I got to chat with many of the teachers MICHAEL has and has had in the past. When lunch came around, it was a sit down lunch with everyone having the same meal with the only exception of being able to choose chicken or meat-I chose the tenderloin. The meal started off with bread which I said no to having, and a plate that had 2 shrimp, 2 scallops, a smattering of cavier and a piece of nova with slivers of fruit-not a big deal. Next was some pasta that had a bit of sauce and sun dried tomatoes-tasted 3 noodles and some of the sd tomatoes - still no problem. Tenderloin came-I had asked for extra veggies instead of the potatoes and veggies-ate both slices of meat-was surprised I was able to pack it in-didn't eat but one stalk of brocolli-still not a problem, doing good (okay, should of eaten the brocolli), THEN, this is where the problem all began-they bring out dessert, this lucious looking chocolate square of something that looks like a thick piece of chocolate mousse on a very thin layer of chocolate cake-well, I don't know what had possessed me at this time-never before had I had a problem with desserts being in front of me since starting SB-NEVER, but oh boy, yesterday, there was a problem! I ate every stinking morsel of that piece of whatever and it was phenominally delicious! This is the real first major cheat that I can honestly say I had a ton of sugar when I ate it. All the SB LEGAL cheats I've had in the past, no matter how big or how small will never compare to what I ate-sugar city-paleese-it must of had a entire crop of sugar in that! Well, after that, I went on a free for all. I figured I've done myself in finally, might as well go out with a bang! Sooo, yesterday, I had a piece of 2 cookies from the ME store, bought a Cadbury bar of this chocolate that's from the UK, took a bite, didn't like it, gave it to ELI. Came home, had some ice cream, still not too too bad - hit some SF cookies, probably about 25 of those babies-not good there. THEN, ELI'S sister NADINE arrives from Cananda with goodies in hand! Oh, it went from bad to worse at this point. She bought a bag of these mixed nuts that you get in the ME store that were so fresh - I easily ate over a cup of nuts - mostly cashews and almonds-talk about calories, fat, etc! THEN, she also brought a box of 3 miniture cookies, 2 kinds I love, one is called ghrebee, the other barazak - well, it wasn't a pretty sight and it looks like somebody in this house had a field day:^:. Honestly, I can't remember what else I ate, and I know there was more. Oh, now I remember, we all went to STARBUCKS so ELI could introduce NADINE to MINNIE & MORRIS, and they had some samples-mind you, I haven't had any SB pasteries since ELI started working there - last night I had a small sample of their lemon pound cake, (wasn't impressed), their vanilla biscotti (pretty good)and their toffee bar (was really unimpressed). Still, I know there's more and I think I should just try to forget about yesterday ever happening at this point-it wasn't a pretty sight and no one could believe it was me eating all this crap. What a day!

Anyhow, today, I'M BACK ON TRACK!!!! Yes, this is a promise that I am keeping! Even after going to be extremely late (we stayed up to watch a movie til about 1am), I got my butt up and out of bed this morning and was out the door before 6am and ran my 4.5 miles in 45:16-and then took MICHAEL to school. Yesterday, last week, these are events that are in the past and I'm looking forward to today. I'm going to focus on getting through each hour, as well as the day. I won't even THINK of getting on the scale-you read right, no scale for me:nono: I know it will be depressing, so why bother!

With this renewal, I have a small challenge! Always voluntary, of course, though if you want to join me, feel free. I would like everyone, including myself, to write down each and every indiscretion you may have throughout the day. If you do have something off plan, just write it down, or how many times today you may find yourself eating something off plan. I am hoping with keeping this in mind that we may be more conscience of eating whatever it may be-cause we are thinking about it and this little challenge. We can let each other know our numbers late tonight/tomorrow - I'm going for a resounding "0".

Before I forget, here's the website where you can view my new niece BAILEY:

http://www.thatsmybaby.net/home/nursery.asp

The code to put in is 020 42987

Only saw the SURVIVOR REUNION, though I'm hoping the tape of the show comes out. Was surprised to see the 2 ladies up there-I thought it would of been Kathy, Paschal or Neleh, though I think Vesepias win was just as good. I have to say, that Kathy sure cleans up nicely!

Okay, it's already 10:30am, I better get some replies in here before the day is shot to all heck:

GRACIOUS, you are not alone, as the wagon ran over you, it plumb crashed into me, backed up and ran over me, over and over again! But as you read, we have a brand new wagon ready to roll, so hop on board and enjoy the ride!

SEF, glad to hear BEAR seems to be on the mend, either that or you make a darned good pot roast even a sick cat can't resist. May goodness, is it just me, or is that an awfully a lot of money for a buffet? $16? No lobster on there? Nope, not for me! Loved the FF!

FILLISE, pick you up on the new wheels???

TRANQUIL, not taking vitamins, though I have some in the house-glad I can remember my own name sometimes, can't remember to take pills. I sure wouldn't take any prenatal vitamins-that's like putting a kunahora (curse) on yourself-with my luck, I'd probably get preg! Hope your boss is feeling better.

RED1, not much down here in the way of yard sales either this past weekend, a few items, nothing great though, which is fine, less money I spend.

GLORY, glad to see you on a roll now. I'm sure you are feeling better just being back on the board. I know you'll be fine all the way around. I'm sure your daughter will start feeling better as well-she's got a great Mom behind her!

NANCE, mid 30's at this time of the year? Heck, I'm dying of the heat here and you've got the cold-no fair! Sounds like you had a blast camping and I LOVE the idea of FEAR FACTOR, poor Nadia! LOL!!! Hey, glad you lost, I'm sure that crap couldn't of been SB LEGAL.

COUNTRY, are you sure we aren't twins? Seems we both had the same type of weekend, eating wise! Congrats to DD for her win!

JENN, great job on the exercise this morning, bet you felt great afterwards-good way to start a Monday morning for sure. Hope your friend nixes the Xenical idea-bandaid is all it is, in MHO.

FROG, SOL, FRUIT, BETH, BOB, ZANNE, MONET, THUNDER, JUMUIR, JRED, BUSDEB, PRAVDA, KAREN, NASCAR, ADRON, SEMMENS-Where the heck are you guys???????????:?: We need to send out APB'S!!!

Well, I'm going to run off to the grocery store. NADINE was planning on cooking dinner tonight-seems I'm going to be doing the honors (LOL-she'll be kicking herself later for this decision).

Hope you all have a wonderful week!!!

I have not been able to post for over a week. Thanks Deb for your email. It is nice to know someone misses you if you are not around. I did get to lurk a bit, so I kept up on what was going on.

Today, I am trying to get some things done for the wedding. I have a bunch of errands to run, things to pick up, and people to call. I am beginning to feel panicked, and a bit buried!

I was supposed to go see the doctor today as well, but he will not be in until Thursday. Rats! Especially since I am down four more pounds! That makes six since I last went in.

I am not sure why I lost four pounds this past week, but I have not been obsessing about keeping track of everything I eat. I just ate when I was hungry, and ate on program things. I did indulge in some Russell Stover sugar free stuff, but was fairly true to program other than that. I have been careful about not eating much, if any, starchy carbs in the evening. I try to have only veggies or soup for dinner, and I think this is good for me. Another thing different is that I am only using organic eggs, butter and cheese. I want to eventually have only free range chicken, and grass fed beef, raised with no antibiodics or growth hormones. I realize for many this is not necessary, but I am sensitive to chemicals, as my Lupus proves, so I figure anything I can do to get additives and chemicals out of my diet will be good. The hormones they feed beef tend to be concentrated in the fats, so that is why I chose to replace the butter and cheese I eat with organic.

DEB: I tried that ww lavash bread they have at Harry's this past week. Very yummy! Didn't you tell me you use it? Any suggestions for it? I used it like a Hye roller, and that was pretty good. Thanks for being honest about your struggles. It helps me to understand that you have to be diligent even after you reach your goal. You are going to do just fine! If you don't, you are going to have to come to Camp Monet and wear a bathing suit in public!

NANCE: Your camping trip sounded fun! We love to camp up in the north Georgia mountains. My hubby is a member of the Appalachian Trail club, and he would camp every weekend in the summer if I let him. My daughter told me her fiance' is giving her camping equipment for a wedding present! (how romantic! ) Don't worry tho...she got him an X Box for his!

JENN: My doctor suggested I try Xenical, and I told him no way! After reading about it, I did not want to take it. You can do a search on the internet on it, and probably find all kinds of info about it. There are bound to be some web pages devoted to slamming it! ;)

TRANQUIL: Whats the scoop about the water supply? I hope you have a water filter!

COUNTRY: Congrats to your daughter! My girls love horses..they would love to have one, but we live in the city and have never been able to afford one. I know you are proud of your daughters win! Walking twice a day! I am impressed! Sometimes it is all I can do to get mine in three times a week! Hope that is the catalyst you need!

O.k. Seems to me you'all had a field day last week, eating off plan and being naughty!:s:

Well, I had my share last week, when my girlfriend baked me a delicious cake with all organic ingreadients, save for the honey. She said she only uses a wheeny bit in the recipe, so I said, what the heck. Do it. whe-****> lemme tell you. THe thing was delicious. Neverhtheless, the after effect was terrible.
I had a little piece for breakfast the day after the dinner, and ...well, I never took speed, but I think the feeling was a mixture between a speed trip, and a bunch of bugs trying to crawl under my skin. ALso, my throat was swollen, and I felt goose bumps all over.My dear SB believers, Vesna was sick as a dog.
THe result is a total suspicion of anything that might possibly contain sugar. I guess that's good! I have definitely been OP, because there's no way I want to be that sick for a while. Screw the goodies!!!

O.k. now.

Update on the KILN - I fired my FIRST glazed pots this weekend. WHOHOOO! I couldn't sleep all night, waiting and anticipating the results. I even had nightmares, whereas everything bubbled, overfired, or the glaze simply peeled of the pots. Just before 6, i told myself I was being stupid for torturing myself, and went to break into the kiln and inspect the results.
AWESOME! I am in love with my kiln, and hopefully we'll have a long lasting relationship. Yes.

DEBBIE - Naughty girl!!!!! You haven't really been good since the SB get together. What was the last time you were at 119? Huh? On the other hand, you have SOOOOO MANY social obligations that I can't even comprehend how you manage them all!!! Good going for that one.
ANyway, this is my take how to help with the situation:
* Do not buy any chocolate any more. Even if it's the greatest deal of your life. Leave the thing alone.
* Donate what you do have: give it to the school, your sister, friends, do not keep it in your house.
* Call a friend when you feel like going for that 4th cookie. NOt even 25th (gosh girl!!).
* Treat yourself with full body massage, buy some essential oil, wallow in your body and enjoy it! If you love your body, you won't put it through all that stress.
* Keep up the confessions! That's a great idea. But slap on the wrist could also be therapeutic, so this one is from me!
[[[hugs]]]

BTW - Bailey is ADORABLE!!!

Hello to all: It's a good Monday.

Just a short note to let you know things are going good, here.

Deb: Thanks for the encouragement, Dayna is having such a hard time and gets so depessed it worrys me sick. Hey that was a great surprise to see Baily. She's a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Talking about sharing, I've never, never heard of you doing such things sence I've known you. I'm so glad to hear that you right back on track. Good for you. Don't be to hard on yourself after all were all human, and it just goes to show, we all need a little support now and then.

Have a good day all. Love ya Glory

Nance - My DH has a corollary to your sugar beets. He had to dry and grind watermelons into powder (for analysis). For days, he was covered in watermelon sugar, and as the stuff ground, it got hot. What an awful smell, burnt sugar! Plus all the dust triggered his asthma at night. To this day, he can't stand watermelons!

CountryMom - Congrats to your DD! You must be so proud!

Deb - no matter how often anyone jumps off the wagon, we're all here to support them! Telling us your story, just impresses me all the more - you've come so far, are so dedicated, and a wonderful moderator to boot. Round em up, the wagons are a-moving!

 DH is BACK!!!!
I kept telling myself 3 weeks..., 3 weeks..., and since I didn't know which day he'd be back (the river has it's own time), I didn't want to get my hopes up, and be anticipating his return! But, he's back now (and safely!). Yay! I can't wait to see the pictures! Apparently there was some wild rides on this river!

Well, I gotta go.

Hi everyone,

I've been busy downloading movies from KaZaA and making them into DVD's to watch on TV. :) So far I have Episode II, Spiderman, and Blade 2. Sure is cool being able to watch movies that are in the theatres at home on my TV lol. I figured I already paid to see them once in the theatres, so I can make my own copies now and not feel like a cheat.

Im OP and even lost a pound or so over the last few days. I have to go grocery shopping later to re-stock all my SB staples.

Deb - Don't feel bad about having a cheat! Sure, none of want that to happen, but even the best slip on occasion since nobody is perfect! I'm sure you learned from this experience and will remember it the next time you are tempted. Personally, I allow myself certain cheats (pizza, jamba juice, etc.) maybe once a month or so. Even then, though, I don't go overboard. I even have a beer every so often. As long as I don't make those things a habit then Im ok. Keep your chin up! :)

Hello again!

So far so good today. Had 1 sl. sgww bread w/ natural peanut butter for breakfast, an apple for a snack, and the last of the salsa sour cream chicken with 1 sl. sgww bread w/ laughing cow cheese wedge for lunch. Haven't been drinking my liquids, but am working on that! Have 2 slices american cheese handy if I want afternoon snack.

The wild card for tonight is dinner - Dan is meeting me, and taking me out. I'm hoping for Timberlodge Steakhouse or Red Lobster. Either way, with a salad, some rare cow, and veggies, I'll be okay. I can stay away from the bread and potatoes just fine. The hardest part of that meal for me is the portion sizes! And the dessert.

Thanks for the info on Xenical. It sounds awful!

After some net research and my passing along your info, my friend has decided to nix the Xenical idea.

Of course, now she's convinced that "Satietrol" might be for her. That's the potato-based powder mix that is supposed to make you feel full before you eat. I can't find anything bad about it, and the nutritional info has very low sugar (1g), low carbs (6g), and 3.3 g of dietary fiber. The worst I heard is that it tastes icky. Don't know what to tell her, except try it and see what you think. YMMV. Heck, maybe Dan will want to try it to see if he can stop binging when he gets home from work.

As for me, slow and steady. Trying for mini-goal of 180. I just bought some "curvy" low-rise jeans from Old Navy. The 18's fit, so I bought 16s. Darned if they didn't fit, although very tightly! Also got some low-rise shorts in 16, although my legs are much more flabby than I want (darn pear shape body!).

I call myself a "work in progress", at any rate.

Country: Congrats to your daughter! I had a wonderful retired barrel racer for my horse when I was 14. I never rode competitively, but that's what I miss the most - having my own horse and riding frequently.

Nance: There are a lot of wonderful lake properties, and properties with acreage out here. I don't know specifically where the one you mentioned is, but Dan has some friends with a weekend lake cabin (we're going up with them this weekend) and it's wonderful. As for the winters... As a native Californian, albeit Northern CA, this last winter in MN was COLD! And everyone told me it was mild - we only dropped below zero a few days in January. *brrrrrrrrrrr* If I were you, I'd look up towards Redding and/or Anderson, and stay warm! Seriously, I love it here. It's just going to take some time to adjust to the winters.

Tranquil: Have a feeling those mystery pounds will flop right off. Good for you for being OP!

Debelli: Ahem! Ack! Not only is the shiny new wagon heading your way, but we're making you drive! Human beings that we are, it's to be expected that the wagon will run over us a time or two. Best we can do it pick up and hop back on. But you know this, obviously! The niece is very cute. How fun and exciting for you and your family!

Monet: Interesting about the chemicals concentrating in the fat. I didn't realize that! *shudder* Makes me more mindful of what I'm putting in my body.

Vesna: Any chance you had a reaction to the honey? I know some people have adverse effects like you've described to bee pollen, etc. Just a thought?

Glory: Glad to hear all is well.

Tree: With your DH back, we won't expect to see you for a bit. ;)

Daramus: What's KaZaA? Sounds interesting! I'd have to check it out at home on my broadband connection, tho!

TTFN,

Jenn

Jen from Minn Where about in Northern Cal did you live?
My sister keeps telling me about this town called "Ferndale" below Eureka that I would just love. It has lots of Victorian homes and is about 50 miles from the coast. Would certainly get alot more rain than the DESERT!!!!, but wouldn't have any snow.
My husband is from Kansas, so when I mention moving somewhere where there is snow...a dead silence comes over him. I think he's already used to the climate, but misses the thundershowers. The farmstead advertised sounds so neat, and I can't get over the price! Everything is so expensive in California it just kills me! I want some land and would love an old house with some character! Can't do much of anything until the kids are out of school, they would hate me if I made them move right now.
I'll have to bust out a map, and see if I can locate Walker, Minn. I e.mailed the real estate agent just for fun, and asked some specifics on the property. I keep living in fantasy land, but one day, I will move out of the desert!

Jenn,

KaZaA is a napster like program. I have seen as many as 1.5 million people sharing files at the same time. You can find almost ANYTHING on kazaa. I downloaded the entire new Korn album and it isn't due to be released until next month. I have seen movies (mummy returns) that were on kazaa even before they were released in the theatres. Now, these are not DVD quality vidoes (most are DivX so you will need that codec) but they are still acceptable/decent quality until the real DVD's come out. Of course, the music is all mp3's so they are all CD quality. I have made so many CD's I cant keep track of them all. If I hear a new song on MTV, I get on my computer and download it, burn it on CD, then I can listen to it in my truck, home stereo or whatever. You can find complete movies, music, and music videos, software... you name it. I recommend having cable/dsl otherwise downloading can take a long time for the movies. The software is at www.kazaa.com

Good afternoon everyone...

Daramus-Wow does that KaZaA sound complicated to a computer dummy like me. How are you feeling?

Nance-Sure know what you mean about the prices in Calif. Some day I'd like to get out of this place in Missouri and get one in a warmer climate. I wouldn't mind the dessert. My brother lives in Precott Valley Ariz. and think I would like it.

Jenn in MN-Guess your friend will just have to try something. She'll find her way.... Lucky you getting to go out. I'm going to try spraggetti squash tonight. With sauce and italian sausage.

Tree- Oh your poor DH grinding watermellon. Wish I didn't like watermellon. Glad your man is back.....

GloryIbe- Hello, I haven't met you yet....

Vesnoid-Oh my gosh I hope if I ever taste sugar again that will happen to me... Oh I'm so glad your kiln worked good. Dieing to see some pictures...

Monet-Congrads on that 4 lbs. thats wonderful...

pravda-Oh my gosh you have lots on your plate..... I hope things settle down for you....

Debilli- Wow you did have a run at it... but this is a new week and it sounds like you back OP. I'm always in ahhhh of you running so far so fast.... Good luck..

Tranquil-I was surprised Kathy didn't get up there. Boy I'm with Debilli she sure cleans up nice....

Have a great evening......

Hi All!

I'm checking in before DEB sends out the POSSEE for me! Thanks for thinking of me DEB!

I haven't been at the board too often the past few weeks. I've tried to peek in but don't get a chance to read very much.

My computer is still on the fritz, and I don't get to my DS's computer too often. Mine is in the kitchen where I pass it often. His is in the basement. I emailed ROSALIE a couple of times cause my inlaws brought back some agave for her. We still have to get together for me to pass it off to her.

I don't remember the last time I posted, but it seems like forever. I fell off the SB and exercise wagon a month or so ago and haven't really been able to climb back on. I have reread a bunch of stuff to get myself motivated again and I think I have made myself a plan of action that I will be able to stick to. I was going to start last week, but life happened. DS got pretty sick and then this weekend DH and FIL enclosed our front porch. So we've been busy.

I've stayed close to 165--actually been around there +/- a couple pounds, for quite a while. I've been writing down what I've been eating since Friday, and I'm doing pretty good. I DO have to get in more fruit and veggies tho.

I'm going to try to get to the boards a little more to check in. I think of the SB gang often and I hope everyone can keep on the wagon.

Bye for now!

Hi - could you please advise me on "legal" breads and cereals - by brand name, please. I have an active 2-year old who is my shopping companion and I don't have the opportunity to read the labels as I would like to.
Thanks!

JBUG: Nature's Own Whole Wheat bread is good. They even have a sugar free variety. I use that all the time. For cereal, I eat Shredded Wheat, or Puffed Kashi. Oatmeal (not instant tho!) is a good choice for cereal too.

Hope this helps! I remember shopping with a two year old! Not an easy chore!

Nance--I've been to Ferndale in N. Cal. It's real cute and was the setting for a movie about some bacteria that was escaping. I think that Dustin Hoffman played in it. There is a real cute B & B there called the Gingerbread Mansion.

Glory B--Welcome back. I remember when you were on the board a good while back. Hope you are doing well.

I've been walking 3 miles a day and trying for every day. I usually miss Mondays but today I walked 2 miles on the TM at the gym when I worked out. It definitely takes time out of my day. I spend about an hour walking, but I've decided to do it because I deserve it!! Actually, I'm not crazy about it and would love to be able to just stay at home doing all sorts of other things, like working in my garden. But I've found if I don't walk then I can hardly lose an ounce. I've lost a couple more pounds since I've started walking.

Hi Sol. How's the training going for the 1/2 Marathon? How many miles are you doing now?

I got a letter today from a French woman I met on our trip to Cuba. It is all written in French, but I can understand it all except for one phrase. Yea me!!! Our french teacher has not been able to teach us for the past month because his car died. So a couple of us found him a new old car and hopefully we will be back in business next week. We have made arrangements to stay in a villa in the maritime alps near Nice in southern France next May. Am already looking forward to that trip.

Well, gotta go. It's late and I'm tired. Just want to check in and let everyone know I'm still alive.

Good Evening everyone!
Had a busy weekend. Worked Friday from 8am until 12M, I was dead Saturday and had to be a T-ball at 8am. Then ran the rest of the day. Sunday, we went to the Zellwood Sweet Corn Festival(geez, that sounds hickish!). Travis Tritt and Chad Brock were there performing. They were great. Lots of drunks (not us of course) by the end of the day!!:dizzy:
Had a few bites of corn - it wasn't delicious so I decided it wasn't worth it. Still having touble getting in gear. I'm think maybe hypnosis - what do you think. I could be hypnotized to hate sugar and chocolate. Think it would work? :?:

Deb: Glad to see you're human. You probably had a hormonal breakdown! Have you read anything about natural progesterone? Pretty interesting info online about it.

Where BOB? - Must be having survivor depression! Glad V won, I thought Neleah was to wimpy.

Hello to everyone - have a great week. I'm going to try and find a hypnotist!!!

(I did this post last night and couldn't get on to get it actually posted onto the board, so here you go):

Hey All:wave:

So far, so good today-feelin like my old self-just another 4 or so hours to get through today and I'll be fine. It's these evening hours that seem to do me in. Tonight, I'm talking myself through an hour at a time-I'll make it, I feel confident!;)

PRAVDA, my word girl, you definitely have had some chaotic times lately. Hope they haven't stressed you out that much, not good for the health, or the WOE. And to have a tooth ache that knocked you out of work for a week-that's just icing on the cake I bet. I hope things settle down for you and you find yourself back to normal quickly!

MONET, glad to see your post-was wondering what the heck happened to you. I keep forgetting the wedding is coming up soon-when's the date again? CONGRATS on another 4lbs lossed-that's awesome news. Give you lots of credit for wanting to eat healthier choices as well. I'm totally for grain fed beef/chicken-look at what hormones have done to the youth of today-let's not mention what it's probably done to everyone else as well. Not that I buy it though, can't afford to, hmmm, then again, maybe can't afford not to. I do use lavash from time-to-time, when we have hummus and for wraps. Great for pb&j rolled up-lots of things you can do with it. Okay, I'm going to stay on the straight and narrow now, just the fear of having that bathing suit talk has me scared straight!

VES, why not give your friend some agave to make you some goodies with-heck, if anyone wants to bake goodies for you, let them, but give them the best goodie-AGAVE:) Glad to hear the kiln is up and running-saw 2 in the paper over the weekend and thought of you. Lots of great and new clothes at garage sales last weekend, wish you'd of been here!!! All goodies have been hidden away for safe keeping until June 10th and even then, will be doled out in tiny portions from time-to-time, sorry, I'm not donating my goodies to no one!!!!:nono: Will have to see when the last time I was 119, it's been a longggg time, that I know. Slap on the wrist-how about a good swift kick in the arse!!!

GLORY, glad to hear you're doing well. I know how hard it is to have a teenager with a weight problem. LAUREN has been gaining weight steadily and it bothers me to see her headed in the same direction as I was at the same age-I'm in a Catch 22 situation, damned if I say something and feel damned if I don't. Unlike Dayna, I guess Lauren doesn't realize her weight, or let it bother her. She gets pissed if I even hint at anything weight related-I now understand what my Mother went through with me. I hope Dayna is successful, I wish I heeded the advice and warnings way back when and not almost 40 years later. Yes, I did have a few food mishaps recently-I know I can't be stellar every day the rest of my life, but I really would like to be able to have something once in a blue moon without going hog wild and also to be able to get right back on track-unfortunately, I haven't mastered this technique as of yet:( Thanks for the kind words about Bailey, she takes after her Aunt;)

TREE, awe, thanks for those nice words-that really boosts me to stay on track today even moreso. Glad to hear DH is back safe and sound-pictures, do you think he could take one of you to post???;)

DARAMUS, you must have a good computer to be able to do those downloads, my son is envious! Congrats on another pound gone - how much more are you hoping to lose now? You are correct, I have learned from this cheat-I know I can't cheat cause, as I told GLORY, I still haven't mastered this technique that others seem to so easily possee, go off plan and jump right back on-maybe one day {{SIGH}}

JENN, hope you enjoy your dinner with DAN tonight. If you know you have problems with larger than life portions you could always ask your waitress to box up half of it before even bringing it out, so you won't be tempted to eat the other half. Hope your friend nixes the entire drug idea-maybe she'll join you on SB. Thanks for noticing the cuteness of my new niece, of course, she takes after her Aunt! Actually, I do think this is the first one of her kids that MAY end up looking a little like our side of the family-the rest, you'd think my BIL had them on his own! Ahhh, wouldn't that be nice if it could be true!

TONI, running far and fast-that's not me, at least the fast part doesn't seem like me. Honestly, I can't even fathom me really doing the half-marathon. I drove the car and saw where 26.2 miles was, what FROG & her DH did in January, and I couldn't believe that they ran that far-it's easy to say those miles, but to see from point A to point B-it's amazing, and it makes me realize 4.5 miles is absolutely nothing compared to that.

ZANNE, glad to see my Jewish guilt trip worked to get you to post on the board;) As you have read, you aren't the only one who's fallen, been run over and needs to climb back on the wagon-so join the crowd. I may have to look into a second wagon the way things have been going around here, it seems. You know what they say, when it rains, it pours!

I've also heard from YELLOWROSE who e-mailed me with this message:

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that I have been out of town
(Charleston) and now have company, so, I won't get to
visit on the board for a few weeks. I miss you all.

Lyn

And FRUIT e-mailed and said:

Hey Everyone!

I'm still here and alive! I've just been real busy with end of the year
school stuff!! Only 9 more days and then you will be seeing me all the
time!!! I miss all of you! I'm sure I'll be on some time this week!
No need to send the wagon over - I'm still doing good!!

Missy

Well, time for me to go-will check in tomorrow morning if I have time. We are planning on leaving early to hit Broward with Nadine tomorrow, so I will be MIA for most of the day, though I should be home tomorrow night in time for chat-don't have any plans, as of yet.

Have a great night!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:

Well, I surely started my morning off on the right foot, literally. I was up and out of the house at 5:30am:eek: and got in 4.5 miles. It was hard to do and I really had to push myself. I walked quite a bit of it, took me 49:08. I felt myself getting a nice blister from my socks-turns out to be a nice bloody one at that - it sure do hurt!

Well, I made it through yesterday without a single cheat of anything not OP. The only thing I did eat that I didn't want to eat was some starchy carbs in the evening, was trying to avoid doing so, but that hummus I made, along with the fresh WW pita bread we had was calling my name. NADINE made dinner which was delicious, she made kibbe and I baked mine-it was better than fried! I also had a few of the nuts, nothing overboard at all-it was great.

Today, ELI is off and we are headed up to Broward. UNFORTUNATELY, I don't think Ole Ole is going to be on our list, but a ME restaurant since that's where Nadine would like to go and since she's only here til tomorrow, I think we can give up our Ole Ole for another day to take her to the other place. Not sure where else we will end up. Have to be back here by 5pm to get Lauren, Mom is picking up Michael for me.

JBUG, I don't eat much cereal, but when I do it's FIBER ONE usually. Bread, I use the Natures Own SGSF Bread for sandwiches and I like the EZEKIEL SESAME BREAD for toasting. Once in a while I'll buy RUDY'S SOURDOUGH bread and if I find something in one of my travels as far as a good whole grain bread, then I'll buy that. Different areas of the country have different breads, so not sure what's available around you.

GATOR, keep up the exercise, seems to be helping you very well.

HAPPY, oh yes, I'm human, though at times my kids do think I'm some type of a monster. I haven't read anything about natural progesterone, haven't thought about that as of yet-maybe I should?

Also heard from JRED and she writes:

I'm still here Deb, but am swamped by life. School will be out at the end of the month and things will settle down enough to be able to drop back in on the board. I haven't even had time to lurk the past few weeks. Tell everyone I'm thinking about them and hope to rejoin you all soon!

Jeanie

Please remember CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:15PM EST!!!! Again, I don't know my plans, but I'm hoping to be home to join in.

Have a wonderful day, and good luck to everyone tomorrow for Weigh In Wednesday!!!! As for me, I'm still debating about getting on the scale:shrug:

Yesterday was Victoria Day here in Canada and we had a long weekend. Next week all you Americans get yours so I guess we will be even!

Since Saturday and the wagon picking me up, I have been doing great! I must confess that I am doing Atkins and that good old Atkins always comes through for me when I need him. I had went up to 170 when I jumped on that scale on Saturday and presently weigh 165 so I am thrilled with that. I needed to get it off fast to keep my brain as an ally and not an enemy. I will do Atkins for a few more days then get back to SB..just needed the boost to get my weight back to my *normal range*.

TREE- Good to hear your hubby is back. Enjoy him!

I have read all the posts but I think I will go from here and post replies Tuesday forward to make it easier on me.

Hello!

I went to an advanced step class yesterday, and the girl was...well, inconsiderate to say the least. When me and my friend walked into the gym, she was practicing her routine, never turned around, or greeted anyone in the room. When she was ready to start, she started fast, with quick moves, so my friend and I just looked at each other in disbelief. The whole routine escalated to the point where I was just standing still and watching her run around like a little spring fastened birdie (jump, jump, jerk, jump). Her beat was very fast. The worst part about it was, that at some point, the whole room was behind, lost, or doing nothing at all, and she just kept going. I don't think she ever even looked at us! Well, after about 20 minutes of wasted time, my friend and I decided to pick up and leave.

The other step instructor, is much nicer and she really looks at us when we exercise. SHe says hello to everyone and tells us little bits of information about what she does between the class times. I went to her class twice, and I almost know the routine.

Anyway, needless to say, the little springed-chick won't see me any time soon.

DEB - naturally, I will give my friend Agave as soon as possible. Increadible what too much sugar will do to a person. YUCK! My friend used to look at me funny, when I talked about SB, mostly with the look of: "you are again obsessing over something, not eating anything, being foolish, what do you want to achieve with this nonsense?" Then we had a good shopping trip together (amazing what those will do for a relationship), whereas I was able to explain to her that we are both concerned with eating healthy (she is!) and numbered all the things I do eat, and how much fun that is. Because she was trapped in the car, she had no choice but listen, so we then agreed that my WOE is quite sensible. Anyway we are on the same page now, and that dessert was actually an attempt to cook something good for me. ALAS! I will definitely give her some AGAVE A.S.A.P.

HAPPY - Good to see you around again. Are you hanging on? Coming to orlando any time soon? How's Anita?

GATOR GAL - Way to go with your French! You'll be conversing in no time. I tried going to Spanish classes, and then realized I lacked dedication. It really helps to have someone who'll speak the language with you.

ZANNE - Welcome back! I hope your computer will stop acting up. We missed you.

JENN - Yes. I do believe I had the reaction to the honey. It has never happened to me before, which is, before I went OP. I've been OP since February, and until a couple of weeks ago ( and the first cake mishap) I didn't even realize how detoxed from sugar I was. Quite surprising about honey, though. I think it would have been a milder reaction, had I not had coffe for breakfast. Could be the combo. Anyway, I can't stress how afraid I am now of anything with sugar. Not icecream though:devil: ]

K - see ya'll!

Happy Tuesday Gang!

I am so far behind so I am starting with this weeks boards. We spent the day yesterday at our co. golf outing. They were supposed to grill burgers, chicken, etc, but didn't. Had some cajun meal and pot pie and salad. But didn't have to worry, they put it all away before the girls could get in to eat. THey fixed us a plate. Veggies were waxed green beans, cold and hard. I had a dab of pot pie, picked the topping off, but it was also cold. Luckily I had brough veggies and dip. So we ate that all day. We did get to take a long walk around the golf course. Lots if hills. So felt like I got a good workout in. They had sweedish meatballs, fried shrimp and rumocky (sp) (olives wrapped in bacon) for afterwards. Had 2 meatballs, 1 piece of shrimp ( I have never had shrimp in my life) and I rumocky. So m boss gave me his plastic and the girls and I went out for dinner. Steak and veggies and salad. So in all I had a pretty good day. Did have 4 vodka and grapfruit juice though. Need to learn to leave that alone. Don't know what WIW will bring. Hope it's not too bad.

I am taking Deb's challenge, It's 9:00 here. so far so good. ;)

Country, Congrats to your DD on her 4H win. I know you are proud.

Nance, Sounds like you had a great weekend. Those pounds will disappear soon. It's really not worth all the extra work you have to do when you go OP. It's a hard less on to learn.

Tranquil, I was pulling for Neleah. Thos mystery pounds are probably just water. Hang in there.

Deb, I will join your challenge. Starting today. You can do this. You did it once before. To answer your question, No I don't mind you telling all your cheats. It really scares the heck out of me. If you remain OP for 2 years and cheated once and now you are on downward spiral, then I am afraid to cheat. I will never get back on track if I go off. So maybe you have done me a service. May I suggest re-reading the book? Maybe it will help. IMHO. Good luck Glad you had a OP day. You can do it, one day at a time.

Pravada, Sounds like you have had a mess on your hands. Prayers for your friends baby. How horrible. I cannot even imagine something like that. And for your family.

Monet, How soon is the wedding? I have forgotten. Sounds like you are at that stage of panic. Don't worry, I'm sure everything will go great. Sounds like you are still doing great with your eating during all this. Congrats on the 4 lbs.

Vesnoid, Sounds like your deal with the cake was a learning one. That can be a good thing. Helps keep yu OP. Sounds like you are doing wonderful with your kiln.

Tree, Glad your DH is home safely. Bet it was fun.

Daramus, Sounds like you have been busy copying your movies. Sounds like fun.

Jenn, Glad your friend decided against the Xenial. Sounds yucky. Congrats on the 16 pants. You'll be looking good in them in no time.

Zanne, Glad you checked in. Get back on here when you can. We are good for you.

Jbug, I use Grant's Farm 100%WW bread. I eat oatmeal or cheerios for breakfast.

Gator, How are ya? Glad you checked in. WTG on your walking. I walk3 miles per day and actually love it. Your trip to France, sound nice.

Slaphappy, I have heard the a hypnotist can help you lose weight. From what I have seen in some shows, they could convince you that chocolate and sugar is bad. No personal experience though.

Hae a great day everyone. Hopefully I will be able to check in later.

It felt great yesterday getting back OP and walking like I should. Wish I could get the miles in all at once but I just don't walk fast enough on these hills yet.

Deb...so glad you are feeling like your ole self again. You niece is a little cutie. Thought I was gonna go take a peek and have to fib a little..but nope..she is a doll. :) I can so relate to being off the wagon and out of control. But yesterday was a much better day. I wish I had your get up and go to run. Every now and then the kids and I run a few steps and then walk...LOL

Tranquil...I went through that last week...seemed like nothing would fill me up. And I craved the salty stuff.

Nance...Sugar beets sounds like a cool project. I don't think they do anything like that around here. As for going off plan and getting back on again..you will be amazed at how fast the weight will melt back off. You didn't get off long at all.

Monet....I bet this wedding is going to be just awesome. You've put a lot of work into getting things just right. Sounds like you've found one of the keys to getting the weight off. When I first started I did just like you said. Ate when I was hungry..didn't worry so much and stayed OP with my choices. Think I will follow your example and go back to that place.

Tree...Glad your hubby made it home safe and sound. Riding the river sounds so exciting. One of those things I would never do but love watching and hearing about.

Jenn...Britt would die to have a retired barrel horse...aint happening on this budget..LOL But Hope loves to work and I think they will go far if Brittany put in the time training her. You mentioned you were a pear...I filled out one of those boby shape thingies and it said I was a pear also :)

Zanne...Sorry to hear your puter is giving you the fits. Mine is acting up right now. I'm praying it won't go kaput again.

Jbug....I don't eat cereal but on rare occasions I like to eat the Nature's Own WWSF bread...they also have hamburger buns. I like this dark pumpernickle bread they sell here but it's been in the freezer to long I can't read the label. That is how rarely I eat bread.

Slaphappy...your festival sounds like a lot of fun. I like hick stuff...LOL I don't think even hypnosis could make me hate chocolate.:) I get my chocolate fix with mint chocolate velamints...sugar and fat free...5 calories each. I LOVE the RS chocolate but can't eat just one so I run from it..LOL

Have a great day all!

Love,
Crystle

Good Morning!
I am so ready for my cup of coffee, didn't think I'd get to sleep last night!

Gator Ferndale has a web site Hope I attached that right!
and I spent all night checking it out. It looks so charming! I saw pictures of the Gingerbread Mansion you mentioned. What a neat little town! I know the movie your talking about, but can't think of the name....you know what else was filmed there? The Majestic" with Jim Carey...one of his non-comedic flicks. I will have to check it out for sure now!

Deb ME food sounds sooooo good. I love kibbe, and now after you mentioning it, I will have to make some this week! Sounds like you have a nice day planned with Eli's sister ENJOY!

Well, I'm going to get my java!!! Will check in later!

Good morning everyone. Things have been hectic as usual around my house. Trying to get the kids through the end of school (Thursday is the last day), Jordan through finals, etc. Today is Jordan's birthday. Can't believe he's 17. You guys with little ones, cherish each day, they'll be gone before you know it.

This weekend was Deutschenfest. I did the 5k in about 50 minutes. It was a lot of fun.

We're coming to Florida the last week in July. We've booked a condo in Panama City for the week. This is one of our favorite family vacations. Hanging out on the beach and doing nothing.

Gotta run. More later.

Good Morning:

Well the mystery pounds are still with me - yuch! Today I packed salad for lunch, low fat cottage cheese (just about 1/4 cup) for breakfast, and I am off to the gym around Noon time to ride the bike for as long as possible..... this will be my new routine from
now on. I want to get where I am addicted to the exercise again - feels SO GOOD!!!!!
Last night I got a really good brisk walk in with the dog and Gram - the weather is so comfortable here it was easy to pack in the distance. I am also going to see about getting the personal trainer scheduled for the month of June - just to get started - have that person there egging me on!

Deb: Ouch, Blisters!!! Stay on that wagon!!!!! I am going to go follow in your footsteps and I am going to write down every bit of anything that goes in this mouth!!!!

Monet - Congrats on the weight loss!

Vesna - Sorry to hear you did not feel well the other day - but glad you are back in the swing of things and working out - too bad about that step instructor! That is weird, when I was doing step classes a while ago, the instructor was always encouraging and motivating - talking and yelling through the whole thing!

Gracious - Looking forward to our Memorial Day Weekend!!! I have plans to finish painting my den, and to paint DS bedroom, and take DS and Hound to the park...the park that has a skating area for DS and a dog area for Hound :)

Jack-K - what a bummer about the meal - but fun for the dinner out :D I am not so strong when offered Vodka and grapefruits myself!!!! Yummy, put it in a salted glass and I am in heaven - sad!!!

Country - Good for you with the walking!!! I am right there with you too!

Slap - Does not sound hickish (sweet corn festival) - sounds dangerous for me as I am a nut for corn!!!

Gator - Your plans for France sound fantastic. I am looking forward to when I go to London in October - we are spending the night in Paris too.....ooooh la la - so exciting! I agree the walking certainly helps me remove pounds too!!!

Zanne - Hope your DS is feeling better.

Toni - Spaghetti Squash with Italian Sausage sounds really good - I think I am going to have to try that myself this weekend!!! As this week I plan to eat lots of salad and veggies and try and not cook too much....being lazy!

Trish - Happy Birthday to Jordan! WOW - 5k in 5 minutes - WTG!!! Oh I am so jealous - I love PCB!!! My favorite place to hang out is Okaloosa Island! I normally once a year go there and hang out a weekend in Spring - but this year I had to skip it....

Well got to run - Sabrina

Good morning!

Today I hope to do some cycling in an attempt to start a cross-training workout program. I plan to do treadmill 3 days a week and bike riding 2 days a week. Do any of you think these activities are too closely related to counts as cross-training? Before when I was doing only the treadmill my body would adjust and I had to go faster for a longer period of time to achieve the same results. Im hoping that by limiting the treadmill to 3 days a week that wont happen again. Not only that but just doing one thing everyday tends to get boring, too! I plan to go hiking and maybe even learn to ride a horse. A friend of mine has an acre in Buckeye, Arizona, and he has 5 horses there. He has always been bugging me to come out and learn to ride. So my current goal is to get in shape, and hopefully that will help with my weight loss goals as well. I plan to be at the chat tonight assuming I don't forget or something comes up. Take care!

Good morning all you losers! It is beautiful here in Paradise--aka central Florida. Low humidity, temp. in the 70's and slightly breezy. We still could use some more rain, actually about 2 weeks worth of hard rain to fill our lakes back up. But I will enjoy the cooler weather before we get the hot stuff back again.

Just got back from my 3 mile walk. I always am happy to get in that 3 miles because I know it is so good for me. And also am happy to have it DONE!
I have not been playing any golf lately; my friend has gone up to the mountains for the summer and the women's league has folded for the summer.

I will be composing a letter in French to reply to the letter I got yesterday from the French woman I met in Cuba. She and her DH were there on vacation, as many Europeans and Canadians were. It is very cheap there so that is why so many people vacation there, and the resorts on the ocean are lovely. But they did not compare to the resorts here in the US. We stayed at one for the last night we were in Cuba and the rooms were more like a Holiday Inn rather than a Pebble Beach. And the restaurant was mediocre at best, even though they touted their food highly. But I was happy to meet someone to whom I could practice my little French and now I get to practice more.
The villa we have rented for next year has 4 BR and 4 baths so some of our friends will be coming over to spend some time there with us. It will also help to defray some of the cost!! The man we rented it from says that you can see the Mediterranean when you sit on the patio, because the home is situated in the maritime alps about 15 miles north of Nice. We are about 150 miles from Avignon and 150 miles from the Cinque Terre in Italy. The French woman has invited us to stay with her, so we may extend our stay for another week and go up into that part of France and stay with a Real French Family.

Tranquil--Have you been to London before? It's a great city. My favorite place there is the Tower of London. There are plenty of things to see there, but my favorite is the Crown Jewels. They are amazing. What I really like to do when we visit England is to get out into the countryside--into the little villages and hamlets. The country is beautiful, especially if the weather is good. It is often rainy!!! Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park is also a fabulously interesting spot. I don't think we have anything like it in the US. They stand on REAL soapboxes there and orate about almost anything. Paris is also a beautiful city, probably one of the most beautiful in the world (along with San Francisco). You will understand why they call it the city of lights. Be sure to go to San Chappelle when you are there. The food is fabulous, almost any restaurant is good. But they dine late. If you arrive at 7 you will be in an empty restaurant, and you can stay at the table for the whole evening. People were eating at 10 pm. there!

We've been working in our yard and our butterfly garden is all finished and we are getting butterflies. I am learnining about which plants do well with the amount of water and sun they are getting, and slowly adjusting some of what we originally put in there. For example, the butterflies don't seem to care for the marigolds, and they are not doing well anyway, so I am replacing them with coreopsis. The zinnias I put in from bedding plants did not do a thing, but the ones I started from seed did well, so I'll be adding more of them. We went to a butterfly show at a garden center last week and it looks like we are doing some things right. It is neat to sit out there and watch the beautiful wings fluttering about.

Daramus--As for the exercise, I would recommend weight training combined with the walking on the TM and the biking. The weight training will build more muscle which will increase your metabolism as well as keep you flexible and strong. It would be a good addition to the two other cardio exercises.

What's everyone doing over the Memorial Day holiday? And what are our friends to the north doing over Victoria Day?

Take care, everyone and have a great day.

Hi Gang:

Well it's another good day. I'm thinking SB all the way. I get up thinking about SB. This is a good thing. My daughter on the other hand is not as program as me, But seems to be more driven to lose the Weight. I caught her going to school yesterday with nothing but an apple for breakfast, Boy did I blow. She really has to do this right, as she has diabetious. anyway we boiled up a bunch of eggs and cooked up some skinless chicken breast for her to snack on for protein. I think I got through to her. I'm taking her lunch to her everyday. Boy do these High school kids think that's cool. I really make her a good salad with everything in it, she loves it and chesse on the side. It's easier to look out for someone else. Plus she can exercise so it'll come off faster for her.

Toni: I use to be a regular here on the board then I took some time off cause I went through a depression. When I fist started I lose 100lbs it took me a yr. Now I've gained 30 of it back, So now i'm back for the support as I have another 130lbs to go. It's to hard to lose in the first place so I don't want to start gaining it back. I hate to back step. anyway it's nice to meet you.

Gator: Thanks for remembering me, your right it has been a long time too long.I'm really ready to start being motivated again. I want to do this for me not just my daughter or anyone else. I was so close to being at the wieght I had to be at to have my knee surgery and then I gained, Now I need to lose it all over again. It's good to see old friends on line. Thanks for the support.

Slaphappy: I hate to disapoint you, but my sis tried that Hypnosis thing and it didn't work. I tried the shick thing where they shock you into losing and that only works for a short period to you can only fool your brain for so long. Oops and then you find you right back where you started. I've found SB is the only answer for me. With alot of support.

Deb: I'm so sorry to hear the Lauren has the same problem, I've tried to talk to Dayna about this for yrs without putting her down. But kids are cruel and she gets her feeling hurt alot now she's at the place where she thinks she's fat and ugly and no matter what I say she won't be consoled, says I have to say that cause I'm her Mom. How old is Lauren, Dayna is soon to be 17. I hate the teen yrs. It's alway just a state of confusion for us all.

Well guess it's time to run. Thanks for being there for me. Love to all Glory

Okay not really the wild life...but I do run into the occasional snake and rabbit from time to time. :) Jessie and I had a great walk this morning. And even though it isn't far we ran 2 tenths of a mile. I was proud of him. He is 9...it's hard enough for him to keep up on a regular walk much less when we add some running.
I wore my "new" used sneakers and let me just tell ya...they have to be broken in...OUCH :) Threw in an extra Richard Simmons this morning too. So it's been a productive day if nothing else.

I keep bidding on these food/postal scales on ebay but every single time I get over bid in the last 30 minutes. I am such a cheapie I refuse to bid any higher.

Glory...I think it's so cool you are helping your daughter with her diet. Mom use to send me to school with boiled eggs and other healthy things but I use to borrow money so I could have the junkie food...I was bad..nothing like those frito pies or biscuits w/cheese. By the time I hit my senior year I had an eating disorde so weight wasn't an issue. I think the closeness you have with your daughter will help her avoid this.

Daramus....sounds like you are working really hard at staying active..WTG...that's half the battle. You will find the routine that works best for you. And when your body gets use to that you will be ready to change it up some...keeps ya from getting bored.

Trish...you did great on the 5k...I would love to try something like that sometime for fun.

Well, I'm off to try to make the crustless cheesecake to suprise my hubby. He's not on SB but he has been cutting way back...no sweet tea and no seconds so I know he is trying hard. I think healthy treats will help too instead of the fried pies in the bedroom on the junk food shelf..:) I'm glad his goodies don't temp me cause they are right there at the foot of the bed.

See ya tonight at chat.

Love,
Crystle

Surprise, I've gotten one of my co-workers on SB! Several of us have been trying to lose weight, all of us doing something different. She was doing Carb Addicts but it just wasn't working for her. I've talked to her about SB previously and Monday she told me that she started it over the week-end. Today she brought in some fresh strawberries and commented how she had really missed her fruit and veggies. She said "I don't really feel like I'm dieting." I had to laugh and tell her she wasn't, this was a new WOE.

Afternoon Gang,

Just getting ready to run out the door. Wanted to get my posts in.

Country, I do the same on my walk. The last 1/2 mile I try to run 3 times. I can only do this in the morning when I walk by myself though.

Trish, HB to your son. You're right their 17 months and then they're 17 off to college! Where does it go?? 5k in 50 minutes. WOW We love to go to Destin, FL for vacation. Trying to work it out for this year.

Tranquil, Had to laugh, the girls here at work tell me I'm addicted to exercise. Not a bad thing.LOL

Daramus, Don't know that much about cross-training, but it sounds good to me. Good luck.

Gator, For memorial day weekend, we have 5 graduation parties and 1 wedding? Fun!!

GloryIBe, I want to lose 110 lbs. You are an inspiration losing 100 and 130 to go, It is so hard. My girls are overweight also. Take after their mother. I wish they would join me, but you can't make someone do this.

Country, I tried to bid on Ebay, got tired of all that last minute bidding. Now I look for stuff I can "buy now".

Jbug, Your welcome, hope they help. Congrats on your successful day!

Trish, I have a co-worker on SB too. It really helps. She makes dishes and gives me the recipe or we bring things in for each other to share. We don't let each other cheat either. That is a big help. We are also sharing clothes.

Hope to make it to chat tonite. Good luck on WIW!:D

Good afternoon everyone

Was sorry to hear that our fearless leader had fallen off the wagon but at least now I won't feel so bad when I report my indiscretions.;) I guess I was in good company on the weekend as I see quite a few others were also off the wagon. Sunday was a bad day for me. It started with an afternoon cup of tea and I decided I needed a little snack to go with it. Someone had brought some mini donuts to work which I had resisted until then but ended up eating two of them. That was the beginning. When I got home I had my hands in a bag of raisins and must have had almost a cup full. I then went out for supper and had chicken and french fries then came home and finished off a bag of pretzels. It's been a while since I have eaten this much non SB food - usually when I over indulge it is mainly op food. Anyway to-day has been good so far. Everything I have eaten has been op. I did make the crustless chesecake yesterday and had a piece when I got home from work at midnight. I had another piece mid-morning to-day but decided to make this my lunch! I've just finished eating some home made bean and barley soup which was very yummy. I intended making a bean salad with it but there was two much barley and not enough beans for a salad so will have to buy a different bean mix for a salad or else use a combination that I have on hand. I went out this morning to play tennis for the first time in many years. It was hilarious - we spent more time running after the ball than we did hitting it. We were certainly out of practice. I hope I do better at badminton this evening.

Gator - Our Victoria Day holiday was yesterday but it was a working one for me. As it was an evening shift I couldn't do much celebrating although usually we have a family get-together on this day. Your butterfly garden sounds beautiful. I grew up in London but am sorry to say that I have never visited the Tower of London. That was on my list of things to do when I visited last year but again I never made it. Maybe next time.

Deb - Your niece is beautiful. Thanks for sharing her picture with us. Glad to see you back on the wagon again. I'll take you up on the challenge to write down any indiscretions - and hope I can keep it to zero. To-day has been good so far.

Hi to everyone. Have to get back to some chores in the kitchen.

Wishing you all a good WIW tomorrow.

Marie.

Rosalie- Sounds like you had a fun filled week-end LOL... Well a good day to start new. Your bean soup sounds good....

Trishaloo-You have a co worker to how great....

CountryMOM-Wow you're doing great. Ah thats neat you had a little guy with you. We have snakes here to and a rabbit every evening in our back yard... I just finally got my sneakers broke in... LOL Get busy and bid one of those scales to the end..... I'm going to make Deb's cheesecake to tomorrow...

GloryIbe-What a good Mom you are to take her lunch to her. Young people lose faster in fact men lose faster..... Hey what about us ladies!! Good for you coming back... You can do anything if you can lose 100 lbs...

GatorGal-I'll send you tons of rain if ya want. Our rivers here in Missouri are overflowing.... The grass is just jumping up. The blackberries are in full bloom. Wow 3 miles is so good...

Daramus-How wonderful the horse back riding will be... And you are so lucky to have a friend with horses. They do allot of that around here. The treadmill does get boreing...

Tranquil-Oh wow you're doing great!!! You go girl...... you make me want to run out the door and walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trishaloo-Sounds like you're one busy lady. Wow did you do good on your run...

Nancemeister-What is kibbe? Sounds like some kind of organ meat!!!

Okay that thing should come with a warning.....It was delicious!:) I made a blue berry topping for the top. Good thing is, hubby ate half of it so there are NO leftovers to temp me...cause I know it's a battle I would lose. Great recipe Deb. I cut five minutes off the cooking time so it was almost like a custard and the top didn't crack at all.

Hi Everyone:
It seems like its been years since Ive been on this board. Ive been pretty busy so I havent had the time to lurk or even respond to anyone. I still find I have sugar cravings. Just dont know what to do. Tomorrow is a new day, and I will try and stay
away from legal forms of sugar(thats the problem)...

I will try and do better. I notice there are alot of new names on the board. Thats great.

Ive got to lose at least 20lbs by July 19th. I am going on vacation for 2 weeks and would like to get into a smaller size, maybe a 14. I started doing the treadmill tonite, and will incorporate weight routine hopefully tomorrow if golfing doesnt wear me out.

Anyway everyone have a good evening, and I will try and check in tomorrow for WIW

My stats are

This is my first post (not counting Bio). This site was recommended by Debelli and she was "right on!" You all really do care! This is my third week on SB and things are going great. After 12 days, my hubby jumped on, jealous of my 7 pound loss, and now two neighbors and a business associate are doing it too! I'm figuring everything out pretty well, but was wondering if Grape Nuts are legal (I think they're not) and what about Cream of Wheat?

My four children have absolutely no interest in something that doesn't allow pop tarts and pop corn, but they're eating dinner the same as us. Tonight it was sausage and peppers with whole wheat pita and steamed zuchini. Eating a lot of veggies is hard for me. I like them, but how often can you cram down broccoli and green beans without getting sick of them?

I noticed that someone mentioned Jamba Juice and they made it sound like cheating, but I have been there twice for lunch and had a wheat grass and then a Jamba made only with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and orange juice. It was very filling, I had nothing else until snack time and my weight and/or mood were not affected badly. Was that legal, or what?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it will be fun getting to know you..
Thanks for the support!

Hi everyone,

I had a fun time in the chat tonight. :) I hope everyone has a good WIW tomorrow. I've been doing well with staying OP and I have made a concentrated effort to keep my water intake up where it should be. I think I will actually start keeping track of my workouts and water intake in a sort of journal.

I have been reading lately (currently working on Moby Dick and have 3 other books in queue!) I have just been so sick of the computer lately. So I just let my computer download movies while im reading. :) I downloaded Lord of the Rings today but have yet to watch it. I did check out the files just to make sure they came through ok, and I noticed the entire movie has Japanese subtitles!! lol Well, that happens occasionally :)

Anyway, time to jump in shower and get ready for bed. Take care!

Hello Everyone,

I'm brand new here and want to say that this is one active group. From what I've read, you guys are a very posititve group, too. :)

I've read the SB book and recently purchased the SB book for kids. I'm 36; 5'2"; and weigh 285lbs. My husband weighs upwards of 350lbs and my 12 year old daughter and 11 year old son are both overweight. :(

I tried the Atkins diet with my DH, but don't like to eat a lot of meat. He lost over a hundred pounds on Atkins, but couldn't keep up the WOE and gained it all back.

What my husband and I have agreed to do is put our entire family on the SB WOE. I've been researching websites and support groups as well as reading the SB books.

My goal tomorrow is to make out a menu for all 3 meals and 2 snacks for 1 week. Then I'm going grocery shopping.

Our family's first official day will be Thursday. Cross your fingers for us because the kids are going to complain. Loudly, I'm sure.

Welcome HomeschoolMama!! How wonderful that you are planning on doing this as a family. Even though the kids will not be overly thrilled with it, it is going to be a lot easier doing it as a group with all of you eating the same things..less temptation that way and no reason to have *illegal* things in the house for those not participating!

I have done Atkins myself and was able to lose some weight but stalled after a couple of months. I use Atkins when I have fallen off the SB wagon and need to get back in order for a few days, then SB rules. I found Atkins easy to follow by I agree that it is not a way of eating that one can do for life easily. SB is so much more healthy even during the weightloss stage because you are eating the fruit and the whole wheat carbs that are not allowed with Atkins. Hubby might notice he is not losing quite as fast as on Atkins but it will definitely be a healthier loss and easier to maintain because it is normal but healthy eating.

Just curious to get to know you..how many kids do you have and what curriculum do you use to homeschool? I have 3 kids (8,6,3) the two eldest are in a private Christian school that uses the A-beka curriculum for the first 4 years then a variety from there on in. I have been so very pleased with their academics as well as the Christian atmosphere but I am considering homeschooling my youngest for Kindergarten for financial reasons. We are about a 1/2 hour drive from the school and the K kids get let out at noon so we have to make 3 trips into town a day..that is 3 hours of driving and gas!! I would use the A-beka curriculum for him so he could ease into their program at Grade 1 but I like to hear about others too! Any thoughts are appreciated.

Horsechick- Welcome to you too! Congrats on the 7 lb loss-doesn't it feel great?! How wonderful it is to be eating healthy and not straving and still losing..keep up the good work. Hope to hear of more great losses from you!Ooo..I just went and read your Bio and realized that you homeschool too. I would appreciate your comments as well. I also see that you are a lover of God! I am a Christian and my hubby is a Pastor of a Baptist church..the more the merrier!

Tranquil- Sounds like you have your Memorial Day planned out with fun and exercise...and I know you will stay SB legal too! I forget Tranquil, how old is your son? Is it in line skating that he does at the park? My son is dying to get some of those but we are country folk now and have a gravel driveway and no sidewalks. We would have to drive somewhere to take him and I don't see him getting a lot of practice that way.

Oh, I have to tell you something funny. Yesterday afternoon, my daughter found a chicken in our garage sitting on her egg. You see, we let the chickens walk around (free range) and eat grass and bugs and such. Anyway, my son scares the chicken away and daughter rescues the egg. We have these laying hens and 2 roosters from babies but have never had any eggs hatch...because we eat them first! :o In any case, daughter wants to hatch this egg. She brings it to me and I have no idea how to keep the thing warm all night. :?: I slip it into the top of my bra and keep it warm for the evening with little effort. Not knowing what to do in the night, I keep my bra on and the egg cosy warm without rolling on it. This morning hubby hugs me goodbye and crushes our *baby*. So much for our little experiment. We were of course going to Scrapbook the event and took pictures of us with this silly egg before it was crushed. Daughter was fine with it and simply tells me she will find another egg for us to hatch! Okay, okay..we live rurally and this is our entertainment!

I hope everyone is off to a GREAT start this morning. I enjoyed my time in chat last night. Wish I could have stayed longer but my daughter came in from her horse club and had lost her bid for president. I think the first time losing is always the hardest when you are young.

Welcome Horsechick and Homeschoolmomma It's nice to meet another home school mom. Homeschool Momma I'm in Texas also. Up near Lake Livingston. I'm praying that your family will do awesome with the new WOE changes you are making. I was OP about a year before I started introducing the family. I make them the occassional dinner OP and they really seem to like it. They love the legal treats :) They are all thin except my oldest, my husband and myself but I want them to learn good eating habits early before it becomes a problem. The key for us is spices and variety. I was amazed at how good milk gravy can taste made with WW flour. :)

Horsechick....in my SB book it says grapenuts and cream of wheat is a no-no but when I read the grapenuts box I can't figure out why.

Gracious....I started my little one on Alpha Omega a couple of weeks ago and I am really loving it so far. The cost is so low compared to the curriculum I used for two of my other children. And I believe a better curriculum. I have two using ACE and now have three in the Alpha Omega. Alpha Omega is a tad harder but my older two have decided they prefer it over ACE.

Well, I guess I'll get and grab a glass of water this morning. Yesterday I found with my new schedule I'm running out of time to drink enough.....I think drinking water is one of the keys to being successful. Have a super day.

Love,
Crystle

haha- Gracious: THANK YOU for my morning laugh! I may be walking around chucking all day! If hubby hadn't hugged you, just how long were you going to keep it there? I get an image of a little peeper appearing over the top of your shirt one day!

Well I'm still here, losing VERY slowly, down to 133 this am so its about a pound a month now! But all the weight lifting and cardio make me look a lot less than 133. Still heaving those heavy weights around, and starting some distance running so I can keep up with Deb at WDW!

Gotta go to the bus stop-
Have a good losing WIW

Its WIW. I have not lost more since the weekend, but I am down four pounds since last week. I am noticing that the longer I am on SB, the easier it gets. I used to feel like I was addicted to Triscuits, and now I rarely eat them. I actually have not inhaled a whole bag of the oat bran pretzels, but eaten only a serving at a time, and only one a day. I just don't want more. This is new for me. I was always one who could not stop eating something once I started. I am trying not to become complacent about it though, since I have learned from others it is not a cure, just a remission!

HOMESCHOOL MAMA: Welcome! That is great that you are getting your whole family on SB! How old are your kids? I homeschooled for quite a few years, but my kids are all grown, or in high school now. May I make a suggestion? Make the switch to SB a science project. If your kids are old enough, let them get on fitday.com and see what they are eating, and what the nutrients are. Teach them a unit on nutrition, and even throw in some facts about obesity, and disease. Maybe point out the things you can do when you are at a normal weight, like skate, run, play games, and how being overweight hinders enjoying that aspect of their lives. My almost 16 year old daughter had to do a unit on nutrition in chemistry this year. Part of it was to figure out actual nutrients, and calories and such. She was shocked to see what she was actually eating. It had a very positive effect on her. Last night, she had a salad as a snack! She is not overweight at all either. Maybe seeing how what they eat effects them, your kids will whine less about the good stuff, and start to enjoy it instead! I hope so anyway. :)

DARAMUS: I need to read Moby Dick too! Sometimes, when my kids are assigned classics I have not read for school, I will read them as well. I missed a lot of good ones in school. I am kind of a reading addict. What else are you going to read?

HORSECHICK: Welcome! I am not sure about Grape Nuts, but I don't think Cream of Wheat is legal. Oatmeal is. I use Shredded Wheat and Puffed kashi when I want cereal. There are others that are legal too. Like Special K, and Cheerios. Good luck with your kids. Mine whine a lot about the whole wheat, but I just ignore them. (they are older... :) )

CAT: Welcome back! Good luck on reaching your goal! Where are you going on vacation?

TONI: Sorry about your tire! I hate when time gets away from me. Makes me crabby! You were not in trouble for missing the dental appointment were you?

ROSALIE: Your tennis playing sounds like mine! I used to take my daughter to run after the balls for me. She was young enough not to mind! I would much rather play badminton. Do you have trouble going from one to the other? I always had a problem, especially when I would go to snap my wrist while hitting the tennis ball. I have Lupus, and it would inevitably cause my wrist joints to swell and ache for a week.

JACK-K: The wedding is June 8. I don't feel panicked all the time yet! Just here and there, and for short periods! I am sure it will grow into a non stop thing in another few days! I still have not settled on a dress yet. I still have to finish the kitchen, which I have all torn up. Thankfully, I have a friend who is going to help me. She hung wallpaper professionally, and we are going to put up that paintable stuff, then paint it. The area to do is not too big. Your daughter's wedding is next year, right? Lucky you! I did not have much time at all! Less than 6 months...

VESNA: Hooray on your kiln! I am getting excited about getting mine hooked up, and getting back to throwing. That is my project for the summer. What kind of clay are you using? Do you mix your own? I have been buying mine from Kickwheel Pottery Supply. Ever hear of them? They are about five miles from
here which is very convenient!

TREE: I know you are happy to have your hubby home!
Enjoy! ;)

DEB: The wedding is June 8. I am hoping I can just survive, and get everything done! I know what you mean about the price of these natural and organic items. Thankfully, there is a health food co-op down where Tom and Laura go tree climbing, and it
has pretty good prices. I mean, like almost $1 cheaper on the organic eggs and such. Harry's has a pretty good price on the beef and chicken. It is certainly going to cut down on the amount of meat I eat! After the wedding, there will only be three of us, and Laura does not eat much. That will help.
Don't forget my bathing suit threat! :s:

COUNTRY: I hope you are right, and the wedding is nice! I don't think my daughter cares much! She just wants to marry this guy, and get on with their lives! Her biggest concern with the whole thing was the dress! (she always wanted to do fashion
design, but recently decided to go in a different direction) Her fiance's only concern is the reception, and the food and presentation. (he is a chef) He is the one driving me nuts!

TRISH: What a SB evangelist you are! Way to go! By
the way, what is Deutschenfest?

TRANQUIL: I am sorry you are dealing with mystery pounds. I hate that! Drink more water, maybe?? I am finding eating a very light supper is helping me to lose, and keep it off. Have you ever tried having just a salad, or soup for dinner? Just an idea.

GATOR: Cuba, France, England...wow, what a world traveler you are! The only time I ever went out of the USA I flew to Poland on a mission trip. We had a layover in Amsterdam, but I don't think that really counts...all I saw was the inside of the airport! I hope someday my hubby and I can travel. I want to see Scotland, and England.

GLORY: It sure is hard when you have a child who needs to lose, and won't. My older daughter, the one getting married, has always struggled with her weight. She will whine about it, do something for a week, then give up. Several years ago, she
did Atkins with me, and lost about 40 pounds. She looked wonderful, and that is when her fiance first started getting very interested in her. It upsets me to see her making poor choices in her eating. I guess all I can do is gently try and guide her, and
pray she will eventually listen. I really wanted to spare her the pain by helping her learn from my mistakes, but I guess they have to make their own mistakes to really learn.

LIZ: How was it growing up in Panama City? I really like that area...I used to go to Mexico Beach some. Haven't been in ages. I may have to convince my hubby we need to go!

NANCE: Hope you are doing well. If you are looking for a nice area to move to, where land is cheap and the weather fairly good, look into North Georgia. The mountains are lovely, and there is a lot of neat history, and pretty little towns. Then you would be close to me? :D

GRACIOUS: Back on Atkins! Try doing SB, but keeping your dinner really light, no starch no red meat. That has worked for me.

I sure hope I did not miss anyone. If I did, I am very sorry. I know I feel sad when someone skips me! I assure you, it was not my intention!

Have a great SB day!

GRACIOUS: What a hoot about the egg! I bet your hubby was surprised to hear a crunch as he hugged you!

When I homeschooled my kids, I used 'Sing Spell Read Write' for Kindergarten/First grade. It has songs the kids learn to learn the phonics rules and letter sounds, and has colorful workbooks, and games to review what is learned. My kids loved it. I have seen the package (it comes as a complete package...with everything you need, including prizes!) on ebay. Our church's school used it, and had great results. The good thing about it is that it addresses all learning styles. If your child is an auditory learner, the songs will help, if he is an visual learner, the workbooks are great, if he is a kinesthetic learner, the games help. Most young kids are a mixture of all learning types, but those three are the major ones, and why the SSRW program works so well. I was using it with my middle child when my youngest was about 3. She learned all the songs, and teaching her was a breeze! Just my humble opinion, but thought I would throw it out...

Happy WIW!

Hope the scale is good to all today. It wasn't to me. I was up 1 pound. But it's mid cycle and I have a tendacy to gain or stay even at that time (except for last month I lost 3 that time, go figure). I bought a journal last nite and going to start writing down everything that goes in this mouth. Got my walk in before work today, boy was it cold!:dz: Felt like I was going in slow motion. Feel very lathargic (sp) today for some weird reason.

Sorry I missed chat last nite. My computer is on the fritz.

Don't we have some New Yorker's out there? IF so, stay safe. This is so horrible and scary.

Guess I better get some work done now. Check in later.:p

HOrsechick, Welcome. Debbie is right on, this is a great site. Full of support and fun. 7 pounds in 12 days is great. It's always good to have co-workers and spouses doing this to. Keep up the good work. I'll check out your bio later today. Welcome

Daramus, Journaling is a good idea. I just bought one and are going to start today.

Homeschooling Mama, Welcome. I have been doing SB for 10 months now and it has become a way of life for me. My DH does it too, except he eats more carbs and bigger portions and still drinks his beer. But my whole family eats what I fix. My 2 girls (19 & 22) eat what I fix but also eat other things. They need to be doing this too. The key to this WOE is planning. You are on the right track making a menu plan. You can always switch around the meals or days, but with your days planned you can't go wrong. Good Luck. We are here for you.

Gracious, I am rolling on the floor with your "baby" story. How funny. I bet you were a mess! I can't believe you didn't roll over on it during the night. Hope your DD gets another one.

Country, Hope your DD isn't taking the loss too hard. My kids had run for offices in school and losing is just devestating for them. After awhile they begin to understand the whole process and work through the wins and losses. Maybe there is another job she can do in the club?

Mel, You are under your goal. I think that is wonderfull. Are you trying to get a bigger cushion? Congrats!

Thank you Jack K....yes she did get another position. she is a delegate to the counsil. And the club is also sponsering her in the queens contest at the fair and rodeo this year. She was just upset because there was a low turn out to vote...and the girl she ran against had told her she wasn't running. :)

Monet...I can't imagine having a chef looking over my shoulder. I'm surprised he isn't trying to run it all for you. :) Yeah on eating one serving of triscuits. I can't have them in the house. I think because I didn't have any of that kind of stuff for the first year I didn't learn to control myself. Maybe one day.

Mel.....you are doing so good...133 is slim and with your muscles..WTG

I can't believe it is Wednesday. I got through the first page of post and know it is time to go get ready for work. I will try to get back sometime later today.

The scale is up 2 pounds. Over indulged this past weekend. With all that is going on at my house it is hard for me not to just stuff my face. I like the way I look in my clothes and don't want to go back to tight clothes.

Nance - Ferndale is very pretty and Eureka is great. My DS and DIL live there. It is beautiful and is a very quant (sp??) town. The people are very nice and freindly. If you love Victorian you'd go crazy. Alot of Hippies though. The life style is very laid back.

Hope everyone does great on WIW.

Catch up with you all later.

I have once again been MIA. I ahve been so busy, then my two youngest have been sick, and i mean sick. In the past 8 nights, I have only gotten about 5 hours total. It really bites! I finally called my hubby yesterday and asked him to go to the store for me and toady, I asked if he would write a script for them and me....now I am getting sick.
This past weekend our church hosted a animal expo for the community. I was the official photographer. It was ssssoooooo much fun!!! God is good! It rained all day Friday and at 10 pm Fri, it stopped....Saturday was sunny but cold. I did about 500 squats taking photos of all the kids. Then I printed them and put them on magnets for the people. It was so neat.

Well...WIW is here again. I have had some really weird things go on...I am down a lot from last week.
Last week, I was playing with TOM...so I guess I was up a little. I have weighed 119 for the past few days. That is 4 pounds lighter....but let me explain before all your jaws hit your desk...
Remember, I was with TOM last week. Then the animal thing had me going and going and going for days...and the biggest thing was the fact that I had not had.....SORRY...a good movement in weeks. Yes, I am the most constipated person I know. I could eat nothing but bran and 10 gallons of water....does not matter. So I finally had to take something....so that does cause water loss. so if you go down a few extra pounds, it is back on that day...well, I went down to 119 and stayed. I know I have been under a lot of stress w/ life and then my kids being sick. I am eating and exercising a little. I feel fine, aside from being sick now.

So, WIW of me is 119. I have ZERO desire to be any less!! Honestly! The scales were going b/t 121-123 before and I was happy there. I am more focused on eating right and getting rid of flab. And I do have that...but mostly on my hips. My sit-ups have really helped and has my bike.

Once again, to all who have put me in your prayers......THANK YOU! I can not express enough how great it is to find another place of peace in this crazy world! You guys are really great! Fillis, thank you for keeping me in mind! I can not tell you how much that means to me.

Gracious.....you are too funny! Just wanted to know...was it messy when he hugged you? I just imagine yoke running down your front! Good luck on the hs thing. I had looked into it a while ago and know a lot of people that hs. I have heard that A Becka is not the best. My kids have used that too in school, but do not now. I forget what they use, but it is better and a little harder.

Deb....
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I will survive...just like the song! As for the bike...it is a recumbant or is it recumbent...bike. I love it! The seat is big and your legs do not dangle, so it does not hurt your crotch area like on a normal bike. I ride during a good show at night. Last night I only did 3 miles. W/ me being a little sick, I see no need to do too much. So I did that and 115 sit-ups. You are so awesome for all you have done Deb. You have lost so much weight, you are now running, and you are such a great inspiration. Do not beat your self up over your cheating. I know what you are saying about a down ward motion.....I get like that too. Once you start...you just need to let your self know IT IS OK!!! Eating a sweet is ok... This weight stuff really is in our heads!

Welcome to the newcommers! This place really is awesome. As for Grape Nuts....I think, correct me if I am wrong anyone....if you are trying to lose, I think there are better chioces, but if you are maintaining, I think it is ok. I had seen a question that addressed this to one of the authors. He did not say no to GN...so who knows. I eat them! I also have all bran, oatmeal, and some Kisha SP? stuff that I have not tried....go lean or something. I am not trying to lose anymore....so do not go by me.

To everyone else.......HI!!!!

Hi - I enjoyed chatting last night - my first time in a chat room!

I'm at 143 - 4 pounds down from where I started 2 weeks ago - even though I only really started *honestly* being on SB this past Monday. I kind of eased into it! LOL!! Walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill this morning doing intervals - felt good - except bad back is acting up.

Being new I have a question - do you all only weigh yourselves once a week - or only report in once a week? I think it helps to weigh yourself only once a week, rather than daily - I was wondering what everyone else did.

Good luck to you all on WIW.

Happy WIW Everyone (or at least I hope it is). Not too bad for me, I'm down another pound, that makes a grand total of 30!! Yippee! I'm really going to have to pour on the water today, though. Yesterday being Jordan's birthday, we went to dinner last night and his pick was Chinese. I did pass on the eggroll (hard because his favorite place has wonderful eggrolls), but did have hot and sour soup and moo-shu pork, sans the pancakes. I could have done worse, but with all the sodium, I feel so bloated today.

Tranquil - Good for you getting back with the exercise. It is so hard for me to get it in during the week. That's the one positive thing that I have been able to keep up on the week-ends but the weekdays are so hectic. I have started walking at lunchtime in the mall near work. I can usually only squeeze in about 30 minutes, but that's better than none at all, I figure.

Daramus - Horseback riding, how cool!

Gator - I am so jealous about your upcoming trip to France. I would love to go to Italy, but hubby refuses to fly that long. His nightmare flight to Russia a few years ago did him in. He's very tall (6'8") so unless he's in business or first class, air travel is very uncomfortable. We flew to England when Jordan was 3. My brother was living there at the time, just outside Oxford. It was a terrific experience.

GloryIBe - Welcome back. That's so sweet that you take your daughters lunch to her. Would you bring my lunch to me, too?

Crystle - Be careful on your walks. Snakes, yikes. Did you guys get rain last week-end? We are so dry here. The weather has been beautiful, but we desperately need some rain.

jbug - Welcome aboard.

Toni - Sorry to hear about your troubles yesterday. You may have mentioned already, but were you impacted by all the flooding in Missouri?

Catlover - Welcome back.

Horsechick - Welcome aboard.

Lizery - Would you mind if I shoot you an email later this summer to pick your brain about PCB? We usually stay in Destin but we found a nicer place for a better price in PCB this year. It's our first time there, so we know nothing about where to go, etc.

Homeschooling Mama - Welcome to you too. Where in Texas are you? I'm in Pflugerville, just North of Austin.

Gracious - I started cracking up (oops, no pun intended) when I read your egg post. What a shock for hubby!

Monet - D-fest is our little local festival. They have the 5k, followed by a parade. The festival has the usual food, music and vendors. The town where I live was settled by several German families. There are still descendants of most them living here. The fest is held in our local park to raise money for the parks system. The only down side to the fest is that we live just adjacent to the park, and the traffic in our neighborhood for that week-end is horrible. People park on both sides of the neighborhood streets, so the congestion is pretty bad. It's a small price to pay though because the rest of the year, it's great.

Kimmy - Glad to see you back. I've been thinking about you and your situation a lot. Fortunately, as an adult, I've never been in your situation. I have a terrific husband and we'll be married for 19 years in October. On the other side, I am a child of divorced parents. My mom left my dad when I was 3. He was an alcoholic and ran around a lot. Having been raised by a terrific single mom, I can safely tell you I think I turned out great. Probably much better than I would have if she had stayed in a bad situation. So, the moral to this is take care of you and your kids. Your kids are very tough like their mom and will be fine. This may be a little too personal, but I just wanted to give you a little reassurance. Take care.

jbug - Some of us are slaves to the scale. I weigh just about everyday, but report once a week. It helps to motivate me and keep me on track.

Gotta run, now. See ya later losers.

Trish

Good morning!

The scale is down another pound for me. I beleive that puts me at 2 pounds lost for the week. I find that many times I can go a week or 2 with no loss at all, but then, suddenly, I will drop 3-4 pounds in a couple days. It all works out in the long run I guess, but I don't have the regular weekly loss that some of you report. But since I know this is how my body works I try not to get disappointed. :)

Monet 320 - My next book is Canterbury Tales (translated of course) and then a book I just bought on the Crusades, and finally a book on pirates. I love going to the library or Borders. I don't read as much as I used to, but I am trying to find more time for it since I love it so. I read mostly historical/non-fiction, but I am making an effort to read more classics and fiction. I read Bram Stoker's Dracula and Treasure Island not too long ago. I really enjoyed them.

Jack-K - Glad to hear you are starting to journal. Let me know if you feel it helps you stay focused. Right now, Im just going to keep track of my water intake. Although, I may end up journaling my food at some point down the road.

Take care everyone and congrats to the losers!!

THE NANCEMEEISTER HAS LOST!!!!!!!!! I'm down to my new all time low of 232.5!!!!! Can't believe it when I got on the scale!
So I'm down 3.5 pounds from last WIW. I'm keeping a weight loss graph so I can see if there are any "patterns" with the female stuff, so I won't wig out when I go up a couple of pounds.
Dan the Man and I got up at o'dark thirty and walked (he jogged), and I'm soooooo happy!!!

There are so many post....and I know I'm not going to get to everyone as much as I wish I had time to!!! Big hug to all! My buddies, my pals, my amigos!

Toni Kibbe is a middle eastern recipe, basically for BBQ'd meat on skewers. It's usually made with a combination of ground lamb, and ground beef, and has a little chopped up onion, and some seasoning. It's delicious, and I think I'll post the recipe for everyone on the weekend.

Monet Northern Georgia sounds pretty neat. I'm sure there are little towns sprinkled all across the USA that I would love to move to. Wish I was a woman of leisure and could just travel around! Reality is that I won't be able to move until the kids get out of High school and my son is in 8th, and daughter in 6th...so 6 more years to go! I told my usband we can at least work on getting debt free, and get everything in order around the casa to prepare for departure. I got moved around so much as a kid and hated it ( and my Dad wasn't even in the military, they just liked to move!), so I promised myself I wouldn't do that to my kids!

Red1 How far is Ferndale from Eureka? I thought Dan the Man could commute since his life revolves around computer and networking. Seems like there is nothing but dairy farms, and the victorian village in Ferndale which suits me just fine! You've got to check out the web site...it's soooooo cute, but heck, you've been there! That's even better! It sounds like such a nice community, and of course is cute with a capital "C"!!!!

Welcome J Bug, SchoolMom, and Horsechick! This is a GREAT support group for weight loss and a whole lot of other things as well!!!!!

Gotta get ready for work! Love to all!

Good morning everyone... I'm in shock I gained another 1/2 lb. I may have to post my food here so you all can see what I'm doing wrong... I'm going the wrong way on the scale...... !!! Its really cool here like 40. Woke up to a freezeing house. But I'm sure we'll have a beautiful day. Theres so much green and beauty going right now here. Roses are blooming and so is my mock orange bush, I just love spring time..Hate I missed the chat last night. Need a note on my forehead.

jbug-Hurray for you on your loss. And your exerciseing too! I only weigh once a week that helps me to not get obsessed with the scales. It will ruin my day if I've gained... Ut oh ruined day!!! Keep up the good work!

Kimmythekid-So sorry you've had sick children and now you to... That sounds neat to photograph all the kids. Wow and 500 squats!!!! You are really a woman in motion lady. Congrads on the big loss, I use super dieters tea from the health food store for the constipation problem, it keeps me regular. And it comes in different flavors so it tastes good.

Red1-Hang in there Red you can do it.

Jack-K-I'm with you and the journal I'm going to write everything down to. And I think I am not excerciseing enough..

Monet-Those books sound great... Wow 4 lbs... congradulations. Theres where I want to be where I don't take a little more of stuff and its easy not a fight...How long have you been doing SB??

Meliris-Sounds like you're doing great and steady.

CountryMom- Sorry for your daughter I hope she ralleys around fast, it is so hard to lose when you're young.

Gracious-Oh my gosh I love the egg storey it made my morning.

HomeschoolingMama-Welcome to the board here. The support is great here. What a wonderful thing to have your whole family doing SB, its the best plan I've ever been on... Good luck to everyone.

lizery-That trip sounds wonderful.....I bet you have a great time..

Daramus-Good idea about the journal. Good luck with it..

horsechick- Welcome to the board. You'll love it here. And no cream of wheat. I just asked about that a few weeks ago... I know what you mean about the vegetables. Sounds like you're doing great in the weight loss dept...

catlover-Hang in there you'll get it.. That sugar is a mean dude. I just got some Agave yesterday so at least I can have something sweet now and then. I don't use artifical sweetner so need something on my oatmeal and cereal...

Everyone have a great day......

Good Morning: Well I am still up from last WIW - I have gained 1.5 lbs - don’t have a clue where it came from - and still hoping it is just water gain and will dissipate soon!

I am putting in 2 miles an evening - walking - and I have to say it is absolutely gorgeous here right now - breezy and cooler! Such terrific walking weather.

New Members - Welcome! I have found great support and only positiveness from this group in the short time I have been a member - I hope the same goes for you all too!!!

Horse - Sounds like you have great motivation going - and it is spreading around too! Keep up the good work!!!

HomeSchool - My son is benefitting from my SB WOE - he has been trimming down, plus with my incorporating evening walking into our schedule - he has been benefitting from that as well - he walks with me, or rides his bike, or skates - it also gives us that
quality family time that we have done something together and motivated each other in a healthy way! And, most of all - like last night - he made a comment on how skinny his Mom is getting! Meanwhile, his pants that were too tight at Christmas are falling down on him now!!!! So, don’t worry about complaints - just do it! :D

Gator - I went to London last November for my DS’s birthday and Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful and magical vacation - and I am so excited about going back to see the MANY MANY things we missed. I have never been to France - so the mini trip through
the chunnel to Paris is going to be a whole new experience. I have to get myself in gear and toughen up and get in shape because there is so much walking when you go to Europe - I would love to bring a pedometer and clock how much I put in walking a day!!!

Daramus - nice chatting with you last evening....that is so fun to be able to download those movies! For awhile I was downloading tons of music - funny, DS puts a cd in the
car and I am like “where did you get that?” it was all Linkin Park stuff - he says “You burned it for me, don’t you remember?” - so I realized he has so much music!!!! I quit doing it when I accidentally somehow unbeknownst to me downloaded something with a Trojan horse - I got rid of it - but still it scared me.

Gracious - That is so funny about the chick!!! I told my son about it when I read it - and he was so disappointed that you were not able to hatch the egg in your bra! Hahahaha Zach is 11 yrs old - and he does in line skating. It is so funny how he just put the skates on - tried it out for a day - falling all over the place -skinned and bruised - and then the next day was a pro! Last night I kept reminding him that the change in the health
insurance does not go into effect until June 1st - so be careful!!!

Country - Sorry I was late to chat and missed you.... I got to chat for a while with Dar, Jbug and Deb....

Mel - At least you are still losing and you must look great and feel terrific with all your weights and cardio!!!!

Monet - WTG on the four pound loss!!! Keep up the good job!!!! I have taken your advice, even before I got it ;) I made a nice salad for dinner last night before I took our evening walk - and that is the plan for the rest of the week’s dinners. I also bought a
bunch of fresh veggies to steam in my new steamer.... I am going to make the heavier dinners for Sat and Sun - and then pack them up in the freezer to heat up for lunches - as I plan to stop going out to eat for lunch (save money, along with I will be eating at my desk since lunch will be spent at the gym).....

To those posting when I was :)

Kimmy - WOW 119! That is fabulous!!!! The weekend sounded fun - and yet - I am sorry you all have been under the weather - hope you are all on the mend now!!!! And, don’t worry - I am the most IRREGULAR person I know, and always, all my life, have
been that way - fiber only makes me bloat ;)

Red1 - Sorry that the scale was not good to you - next WIW might do better for you!

Daramus - Congrats on your loss! Wow that is great!!!

Jbug - Terrific job!!! Nice chatting with you last night :)

Trish -You might even have a better WIW next week since you had the chinese food! WTG!!!! losing even after eating dinner out Chinese!!! I might have to move my evening
walks to the mall myself when summer is here in full force = it can get just too hot and humid to be motivating for me....

Nance - WTG!!!!!!!! You Go Girl!!!!!!!! Wahoo!!!!!

Toni - I am right there with you on the scale going the wrong way - hopefully for the both of us we will be losers next week!!!

Guess Who...LOL!!!! I figured Deb had sent out an APB by now, and I was right!! LOL!!

I didn't fall off the wagon, I fell off the money tree..LOL!! With me and DH starting new jobs, and his being one where he gets paid through snail mail, we ran out of $$ before we ran out of bills, so my internet was down for the last week and a half. But I got it paid this morning, and here I am!!!

I'm down a pound in the last month... slow going, but I just can't seem to eat enough. I'm still trying to adjust to this schedule. I eat a salad at work every night, and I eat yogurt and cereal for breakfast when I come home, and usually something when I get up, but still not nearly enough calories. I know where my biggest problem is though. NOT ENOUGH WATER. I know I could drop probably 5 pounds in a week if I'd get on the water wagon, but here's the thing...
I work 3rd shift ALONE in my office. If I have to go to the bathroom, I have to call dispatch and tell them I'm going, forward the phones to the jail and tell them where I'm going, and then lock the office and go down the deserted hall to the bathroom and get back and call everyone back and tell them I'm alive and back in the office. So... I don't drink much that way I can hold it all night. I know I know.. not the best thing for a girl with frequent UTI's to do... and not good for my weight at all. I'm gonna do better this week... who cares if all the guys at the jail snicker cause they know I'm going to the girls room!! LOL!! They played a trick on me 2 nights ago... I have to get paperwork from them at night, and they send it down on the jail elevator which they operate with controls there. Well... they put my paperwork in the back corner of the elevator, and when they saw me go in after it, they SHUT THE DOOR!!!! LOL... The running joke is that I'm the only person that works for the Sheriffs Dept who's never been up to the jail for a tour, and they're threatning to kidnap me ;) Anyway, they opened it and let me back out... :)

I had something wonderful happen to me the other day. I was at the ballpark with my son's ball team, and a man came up to me... This is our conversation:
" Excuse me, but don't think I'm crazy... I know you..."
Me - You do?
"Did you go to Lee High School?"
Yes
"Class of 1991?"
Yes
"Did you have Coach Jackson for Goverment?"
Yes
"I thought so... I was your student teacher. I recognized you the other day and told my wife I knew you... she told me to shut up..but I was right, She's never gonna believe this"
HER??? I don't believe he knew me!!!! That was 11 years ago and I was a SIZE 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And This man recognized me!!!!!! You have NO IDEA how great that makes me feel!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then yesterday a lady who's son played TBall with my 10 year old (5 years ago) came up to me and said she almost didn't recognize me cause I'm getting down to skin and bones. Ha... 175 pounds ain't skin and bones, but it's closer to the bones than 240 was..LOL!

Anyway... I'm doing pretty good, now that the paychecks have started rolling in, I'm doing even better...LOL! We hope to be caught up very soon. That will feel so wonderful!

Oh yeah.. MY STEPDAD IS HOME!!! They have a hospital bed set up for him at the house, and he's doing PT, but he's gonna be ok!!! Thanks for all the prayers.

Also my dog is doing great with the HW treatment, and is gonna be fine also!!

My youngest son's TBall team is 13-0 with 3 games to go... we're hoping to sweep the season...game 14 is tonight.

My oldest son's ball team has gone 3-10...they're disappointed but they are still managing to have fun! OMG...Monday night they took the field to practice, and lo and behold I see my SON on the mound warming up... I'm thinking WTH???? He's not a pitcher, he plays Second Base?!?!?! Well... in a practice a few weeks ago the coach was seeing who could get the ball across the plate from the mound, and apparently my son did pretty well at it, so he decided to get him in a game and try him out. He's been on pitchers mound a total of 3 times for practice and NEVER FACING A BATTER... But in the 4th inning... in he goes... He took over on a batter who was already ahead in the count, and he ended up walking him... but he STRUCK OUT THE NEXT 2 BATTERS!!!!!!!!!! It was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! He got up to pitch the next inning, and walked 2 batters and the coach pulled him. After the game he told him that he didn't get pulled because he did bad, he took him out because he 1) didn't want him hurting himself because he's not used to the stress on his arm of pitching, 2) didn't want him to get down on himself by walking in any runs... because he wants him to pitch again TONIGHT and didn't want him to be less confident!!!! He told my son that even the kids who've been pitching for the last 2 years have had as many walks as he has... and he did a great job!!! I got pictures of almost every pitch :^:

Anyway... end of proud baseball mom brag..LOL! We play tonight at 7:30 and I have the camera ready!

Well that's my update... :) I'm OP, and I don't need a ride on the wagon. That buritto 2 weeks ago did my tummy so wrong that night that I haven't touched anything off plan since!!! LOL!!

DEB - I just wanted to let you know that even tho we count you as our fearless leader, your slip-ups aren't discouraging... they remind us that YOU'RE HUMAN, and you're really just like us... It's nice to see that you're capable of the same human weaknesses that we have too sometimes :) It isn't discouraging, it's encouraging to see that you get back up and get going again!!!

Well I'm off to do something constructive :)

Welcome Newbies - Jbug, HSMom, Horsechick!

Yay to all the losers! and all the ones who are hanging in there! I belong to the latter. I've been trying to figure out why I'm not losing (besides little exercise). Today, I took a look at the Yoplait Peach Light yogurt I've been getting with my salad for lunch. I thought I could discount the sugar, assuming it was artificial. AACK! it's loaded with corn syrup! I figured it was like Dannon's Light & Fit, with sorbitol/fructose instead of sugar. So no more of that stuff. I'll bring my own yogurt to work now!

Deb - what was the brand of yogurt you used to make yogurt cheese? I've tried it several times in the past, but it's never worked out. :(

GloryB - I don't think we've met, but I'm glad you're back. We need all the inspirational stories we can get to keep us going.

Daramus - your cross-training doesn't seem to have much upper body exercises (unless you do arm stuff along with the treadmill cycling). When I took weight training in college, I was supposed to choose a variety of exercises for a total body workout. I found that hard to do.

Gracious - I recall hearing that chick eggs need a lot higher heat than just human body heat (37 C). Check it out before your next experiment - it may be a lost cause. Glad your DD wasn't too upset. :)

Gotta go.

Hey Gang,

Checking out for the day. thought I would post some more notes.

Monet, What a great idea for making SB a science project for kids. That would really get them interested. I can't believe yu don't have a dress yet? You only have 2 weeks left, and the kitchen to finish. I am panicing for you. You should let your SIL to be do the food!. LOL

Red1, Hang in there, those 2 pounds will come off next week. I was up 1 today and it really ruined my day. But I know it will come right back off.

Kimmy, Hope you and the kiddos are feeling better soon. WTG on your 4 pounds and being under goal. It's good to have a "cushion". Your pet show sounded so cute.

jbug, Officially, wed is WIW and I only weight on Weds. I can't deal with the emoitional ups and downs of daily weighing. SOme weigh every day (Deb) and some report it every day to. Whatever you want to do.Congrats on the 4# loss. Keep going.

Trish, 30 pounds that is GREAT!!! We went to PCB a few years ago, and there is a Hooter's Rest but can't remember the street name, (right off the main street), there was a place right next door that had great food and cheap! Maybe Lizery can tell you about the place they throw the rolls, but it is home cooking, probably not SB kind.

Daramus, Another pound, WTG.

Nance, WOW< WTG on 3.5 pounds and exercising too! You go girl!!

Toni, Hate to hear you are up again. Post yur menues and someone will help you.

Tranquil. Yur gainis probably just water. It will come right off. Keep drinking!!Glad your sonis benefiting from SB too.

Beth, Good to hear from you, been wondering if you were ok. Glad your SD is home and doggie is better too. Awesome about your son. I hope the make a clean sweep. Good luck tonite for him. Neat about the guy recognizing you and he lady too. Always makes you feel good and makes this WOE worthwhile. Keep up the good work.

Tree, Bummer onthe yogurt. I just don't eat it.

Have a great nite everyone.

Gracious--I think it's a hoot that you were gonna incubate the egg in your bra. If it hatched, I wonder if it would think you were its mama. That would be something.

Homeschool--Sounds great your whole family doing SB. Hope you have great success. You might try the suggestion made about walking. It will really help. Just a short walk, do what you can, just after dinner every night. Give your family some together time, or just you and your DH some together time if the kids don't want to walk.

Thanks to everyone who said "hi" and offered a welcome. I'm happy to find a spot with all of you wonderful "losers." Appreciated the input about Grape Nuts and Cream of Wheat. Lent my SB Book to my neighbor who is jumping on the wagon, so I didn't know. My initial loss was definitely inspiring, but I've been so busy, that I haven't been drinking as much water as I did those first 10 days and I think I've slowed a lot. I also don't own a scale, so have to trust Publix (grocery store) and then account for whatever garb I've saddled my body with (those new shoe styles HAVE to be at least 3 pounds......each, right?)

Don't panic, though....I really did lose 7 pounds. Same scale, same clothes....THAT was a scientific study, but the next one could be guesswork. All I know is that the clothes are getting more comfy, and that's what counts for me.

As I get used to this board, I'll respond better to individuals. Got any tips out there? I'm thinking that I have to takes notes or something, I can't remember who said what when I go to post my reply. Is there a way to go back and forth between the reply I'm writing and the BB? I know DARAMUS is having quite a laugh right now.

Every one of you is wonderful for being an encourager to others who need help, advice, a hug, etc...I'll be praying for you, KIMMY. Thank you for your response, GRACIOUS...you sound like my kinda gal...I live on a farm, too, but the roosters annoy me (i'm a light sleeper) so We don't have chickens anymore. My 5 YO DD has been begging for a "baby chick" of late, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm ready to try again. The eggs are sure good! (I used to use them in my hair, but never did try the skin treatment that you did:-)

Sweet dreams all!
Ciao for now, Shellie

Well, all, today I put in another good brisk 2 mile walk, but could not workout at the gym as I was stuck registering ds for camp. But, for lunch I had a little side garden salad from Wendy's and a small chili - okay, I have no clue whether the small chili was legal! I just guessed that since it was not sweet, it might be legal.... For dinner, salad - lite dressing, nothing sugary, no starches - and steamed brocolli - so lets see what that darling scale says to me tomorrow morning!!!! Oh PLEAZZZZZZZ let it be down!!!! :dizzy:

Horse - Definitely 3 pounds for the shoes ;)

Jack-K - We will just think positive - water weight, water weight, and that is all it is :p

Tree - I am a yogurt nut, and I have just quit eating it since starting SB.... it is difficult, as I like Yoplait so much!!! :(

Beth - All that good news and still losing and you sure do sound happy!!! That is great about being recognized - nice ego boost. And, not very nice of those jail employees!!!

Well Good Night All!!!

Well, I probably blew my four pound loss today by eating homemade pizza. It was family dinner night, when all the family comes for dinner. A few were missing, cause they had to work, but it was fun. We had whole wheat pizza, but I made way too much, and ate too much too! It sure was yummy!

HORSECHICK: The easiest way to keep up with the posts is to open notebook, and write your replies in it as you read. When you are done, highlight the whole thing, copy, then paste it into the reply box here on the board. Rosalie shared that trick with me, and it works great!

JACK-K: Aw, don't panic for me yet. I did find a nice dark blue silk dress and bought it. It is sleeveless tho, and I definitely need sleeves. BOB would be proud of me tho! It was a $180 dress, marked down to $27!! If I don't find anything else, I can wear it, and get a shawl, or jacket to go with it. I need to go check out another mall, and see what they have. I just can't find anything like what I have pictured in my mind, and it is irritating me! The kitchen will be ok, too. My friend is going to help me next Thursday. She used to hang wall paper professionally, so it won't take us long. Then if I run out of time, I will just not paint it until after the wedding, but I think it won't take me more than a day to do the painting. With me, the clean up after I am done is the hard part! The buckets of paint are still sitting in the great room! Shame on me!

Hi

Well there were no surprises for me for WIW. The 1 1/2 pounds that I had lost last week have found their way back. To-day has been a good eating day, as was yesterday, so I hope to see some of those pounds melt away soon.

Horsechick - Welcome to the board. It's great that you have your hubby doing sb with you. It makes it so much easier if you have other family members involved. I used to like Cream of
Wheat but since I have been on sb I have substituted Quaker Oat Bran Cereal which is made the same way and tastes very similar. Another hint when composing a post (using Wordpad) is to make sure you SAVE it periodically, particularly if it is going to be a long post, so if your computer crashes for any reason or there is a power failure you won't lose it all.

HomeschoolingMama - Welcome. I think that is a great idea that Monet had for making sb a science project for the kids. There are some great recipes in SB For Kids. Maybe your son and daughter could choose some recipes from the book and help in planning your weekly menu. They may be more amenable to following this woe with you if they still have choices.

Monet - I've only had the one game of tennis so far but I started off by trying to serve the same way that I serve at badminton until my friend reminded me what I was doing. I didn't have a problem flipping the wrist like in badminton as most of the balls missed the racquet. Hope next week is a little better. :). That was quite the bargain you got with the dress. BOB and Debbie would both be proud of you.

Congrats to all the losers this week and the rest of us just hang in there.

Gotta go.

Marie.

Hi Everyone!

I was right; everyone is friendly here. I had so many "hellos" and helpful suggestions that I had to write them down as I read messages. Next time I'll try opening Notepad while reading.

I just posted my bio if anyone is interested. I have two children: Cynthia is 12yo and Stephen is 11yo.

Gracious - We're using Calvert homeschool curriculum. My son is working the 5th grade level; my daughter is working the 6th grade level. We're really enjoying it, but the curriculum is very expensive. I've heard wonderful things about A-Beka. Your youngest son should love it. Plus, you don't have to drive as much. Every one wins. :D

As for the egg in your bra, your poor husband is probably going to have a complex from now on. Every time he goes to hug you, he'll hesitate wondering what he'll break this time.

CountryMom4Him -- The milk gravy with WW flour sounds delicious. I thought I'd have to do without my gravy on this WOE. I've always used gravies in jars so I don't know how to make it from scratch. Would you post how to?

Monet320 -- I love your idea for making our switch to the SB WOE a science project for my kids. I've already started jotting down notes.

Jack-K -- I didn't get a full weeks' worth of menu planning done today. We ended up spending all day playing around with several other homeschool families. But, it's first on my To Do list tomorrow. Which means our start date has moved. Your statement about being on the right track with planning the meals ahead of time reminds me of the quote "If you're not planning, you're planning to fail." Can't remember where the quote came from, though.

Trishaloo -- Believe it or not, I know where Pflugerville is. We go to Tinseltown whenever we want to watch a movie. I'm currently in Cedar Park, but am moving to our new house near Marble Falls hopefully with the next 4 weeks. Our builder keeps promising that it won't be long now. The house was supposed to be finished the end of this month.

Gatorgal and Tranquil -- The evening walk is a great idea. Unfortunately, my husband has a lot of trouble with his knees. I got him to promise me he'd walk with us, if I promised to not push him when he says he has to turn back. I'm looking forward to this family time.

Rosalie -- I love your idea of letting the kids choose recipes from the SB Kids' book. I picked up the Kids book last night at the book store. I'll probably name them head cook for their recipes with me as their helper.

Nancemeister (love your bat), Toni48, and tree -- thank you for the warm welcome.

I think that covers everyone. Whew! As I stated earlier, I didn't get our 3 meals plus 2 snacks per day for a week figured out. I did go through all of our family's favorite recipes and figured out how to make them SB legal. I only had to "throw out" 2 recipes. All the others look fairly easy to convert. I figure if we start out with some familiar foods, the transition will go smoother.

Welll, I'm off to bed and a chapter or two in SB for Kids. See everyone tomorrow.

I am not sure what is doing on with my body..I've put on two more pounds since yesterday...making 6 pounds in a week and a half. hmmm hope it stops soon. My daughter did something she never does...she ran-walked with me yesterday evening. She thinks walking is boring so we ran and walked. It was GREAT! Almost half a mile of the running part. The best part was she was proud of me...:D I look forward to us doing it again someday.

Homeschool Momma....I don't measure when I cook but you put equal amounts of oil and flour in a pan. Stir till flour gets coated and it starts to get warm. Stir in COLD milk.....as it thickens if you need more milk just make sure it's cold. I also use a wisk to get out lumps. You can make it with water also and then it's just brown gravy instead of milk gravy.

Trish....we did get a little of that rain last week....but we sure could use some more. :)

Love,
Crystle

Good Morning Everyone!!!

It's Thursday...counting down to that 3 day weekend. YIPEE!!! Why does it seem like FOREVER between the monster weekends off from work? Looking forward to getting some stuff done around the house. Did I tell you what one of my dogs did??????
Ms. Trixie got into my closet and got out my daughter Halloween mask that had the squirt the fake blood through the plastic skeleton face....well...the fake blood is on the carpet, the walls, my bed skirt, and it looks like something out of the FBI files! I'm busting out my little green machine by Bissell, and PRAYING in will come out of the light beige carpet. Has anyone tried OXYCLEAN??? Is is a miracle worker?

Today I am going to my Doctor to get my heel injected. Doesn't that sound like something one should avoid? Needles in the foot?
I have what is called Plantar Fasciitis, where there is inflammation in my heel, been taking anti-inflammatories and doing the stretching thing, but the pain has become too much and I NEED TO WALK DANG-IT!!!!!!! I need someone to hold my hand while I'm being torchered!!!

Horsechick No Scale???? I couldn't live. You can go on e.bay and get a Tanita digital sclae for cheap bucks and they are awesome. Will even tell you what your body fay % is...not that we ever want to find out:s:

HomeSchool Mama.....soon to be shortened to HSMama Did you have to pick something out soooooooo long! I like my bat too....of course I love Halloween, before I had an angry beaver, which I loved, but he didn't show up too well! That's cool about your house...you must be tickled pink to move into something brand-spankin' new!

BOB WHERE ARE YOU?????????? It has been way to many days since you have posted and the same for SOLSHINE.
Don't make me call Southwest Airlines!

Gotta get ready for work! Hugs and kisses to all! Nancita

Good morning everyone. Here was my menu for yesterday I tried to be careful, and hope I did good but if you see anything wrong let me know.
Break-1 cup of oatmeal, 2 cups of coffee
Lunch-homemade vegetable soup
snack-orange
snack - 12 macadamian nuts
Dinner 4 oz. pork loin chop, baked sweet potato, salad with 2 T dressing
snack-1 string cheese stick
60 oz. water.
walked 15 min. on treadmill. Wasn't feeling good so didn't do more.

CountryMom-Great on your walking, maybe you ought to post your menu's here to for a week.

Homeschooling-Sounds like you're off to a great start.. Its so good to have you here...

Rosalie-Sounds like we're having the same problem, going the wrong way on the scale. I hope we both do better this week...

Monet-I love the homemade pizza. I save the leftovers for breakfast.. LOL... its so neat you can make it OP. Good luck on the wallpaper hanging. I'm a flop at it...

Tranquil-I'll have to remember that salad and chili if I get stuck out. Its always good to have ideas when you're out of town...

horsechick-LOL on the shoes. I'd wear socks to the store... I used to run in at the doctor's office here in town and weigh. But I told the kids I wanted a scale for Mother's day and got a really nice one. To bad they got me one thats going the wrong way!!! You're doing so good....

Gatorgirl- Just a howdy!

Jack-K- It does take a couple of posts to keep up on here! Hope you're having a good Thursday

tree-I love yogurt... but I can't find the right kind it must be out there.

Beth-I can understand that broke!!!! What kind of yogurt are you eating? Sounds like you are really looking good....

Guess I'll go for now and eat breakfast. Hope you all have a great day....

Good Morning Everyone

It's a cool sunny morning here and I have to get outside to do some gardening. I have weeds to pull and my driveway to sweep. If I have any energy after that's done I may go to the store to get some more plants. I would have been out there already cleaning up but found I had no garbage bags so had to run to the store.

Nancemeister - I don't envy you having a heel injection. I had that done once and it definitely wasn't very pleasant. Good luck and I hope it helps your heels. Sounds like you have a playful dog! Someone on the board last year suggested NATURES MIRACLE from the pet store for cleaning carpets. I don't know what type of stains it is good for but you might want to check it out if you haven't already got them out.

CountryMom - Perhaps you should post your menus for a couple of days to see if any one can give you any suggestions. Are you close to TOM? It could be that you are retaining fluid. That was great that you got your daughter out running and walking with you.

Toni48 - Your menu looks good to me except I would suggest that you need more protein as you only have protein at one meal plus the cheese snack. Maybe add some protein at lunchtime. JMHO.

Gotta go. The garden is calling me.

Have a good day everyone.

Marie.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Only one more day to the weekend. Yeah!!:)

DId something I never do, I got on the scale this morning, hope that the 1 pound was gone. It wasn't:( . Drinking like crazy. Hope it will flush out. I've been so tired this week. Went to bed at 9:00 last nite. Even slept thru the nite. That's very unusual. I always get up 1-2 times to potty. LOL.

Tranquil, I'm still thinking water, but I did something I never do this morning, I got on the scale and it was still up 1 pound. So depressing. Hanging in there though. Hang with me.

Horsechick, I use MS notepad to swich back and forth between notes and the board. Definitely those shoes weigh 3 pounds each. Could you weigh at the store naked? LOL

Monet, what a bargain shopper you are! Deb would also be proud. Good luck on your kitchen.

Rosalie, Keep OP and those pounds will melt away.

Homeschooling Mama, I loved your quote about planning. I always take either my tricuits or my bread with me when we go out. I can use the triscuits to dip in stuff. I have 5 graduation parties this weekend and I will be taking my bread along. If you don't plan then you set yourself up to fail because you don't have a choice sometimes. I don't plan my menues for the week, but I ususally have an idea of what I am having. I always start with dinner, then I know what I can have for lunch and then breakfast using my carbs. Good luck.

Country, WTG on your walk/job. It is more fun when you can exercise with someone. The time really flies. Maybe you should tlak to Deb and post some of your menues. Something is wrong here.

Nance, Did Ms. Trixie get in trouble? I have had the foot injections many times. No biggie, but I will be thinking of you. Close to holding your hand right. Hope your foot feels better soon.

Toni, IMHO (which isn't worth much) you are not eating enough. You need more veggies and protein. Does your soup have meat in it? Maybe yu should exchange your scale since it's going the wrong way. LOL

Rosalie, sounds like you are going to have a nice day working in your yard and garden. I'm jealous.

Hope everyone is having a good day.:)

HorseChick--Here’s how to respond to the messages without taking notes or clicking back from the reply page: Simply open your word processing application when you are reading the SB board and when you see something you want to respond to, type it on the Word or WordPerfect or Notebook or whatever page you have open for word processing. Then click back to the board and keep reading and when you see something else you want to respond to, go back to your word processing app. and type some more. Then, when you have read through the whole board and finished all your responses, simply highlight and copy your word processing page and paste the whole thing onto the “Reply” page for the SB board. Easy as pie!

We live in the city, in a suburb with fairly large yards. We used to have chickens and even a chicken coop. Definitely a no-no by zoning laws, but my son went to the neighbors when he was about 8 and asked them if they would mind if he had chickens for a pet. How could they say “No” to that, so he raised them from chicks. We just kept hens--no roosters. So there was hardly any noise. Just a slight clucking. Every now and then he would have to spread lime around to quench the smell. They probably were the most expensive eggs I ever had, but they were good, fresh and double yolked.

Tranquil--How about trying plain non-fat unflavored yogurt and then add fresh fruit and maybe some agave to it. Then you could “have your yogurt and eat it too.” :)
My DH also sprinkles grapenuts on top, but you could use crumbled shredded wheat or whatever else you can substitute that is crunchy.

Homeschool--Maybe your DH could ride a bike along side when you walked. There is a lady in our neighborhood that has one of those big 3 wheel bikes and she rides it every day.

ZippyBubblebutt--I’ve had all kinds of foot problems. I had PF for a while, and also something where my achilles was so tight that I could hardly walk. It seems like every year it is something else flaring up on my body. Anyway, I found an empty beer bottle and put it on the floor and would sit and roll my foot back and forth over that bottle, with the emphasis being on the arch part of my foot. It worked for me. I had the injection thing. It was not fun!!!! Hope it works for you. If they have to do surgery, they just go in and cut part of the fascia to loosen it up a little bit. My sympathies are with you.

Well, I walked 2 miles on the TM this morning. I went to the gym where I had my regular work out with weights. Then did one mile at 6% grade at 3 mph. and then one mile at .5% grade at 3.5 mph. That was enough for me! Glad to be home and off my feet! I still am trying to look at walking as fun. I want to reach the point where I look forward to it. I wonder if it will ever happen.

Have a great day.
BTW, who else besides SolShine is walking/running in the WDW half-marathon or marathon?

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:

FINALLY, I have time to post! I wanted to get a post on here yesterday but it was impossible, so I'm trying to make up for lost time and posts today. NADINE, ELI'S sister was going to take a 2pm flight out yesterday but ended up taking a 7pm flight out, so plans of mine got sidetracked. I had wanted to give a spinning class a try, but with having Nadine leaving later than expected, with my Mom coming over to visit, with Lauren bringing a friend home unexpectedly and me having to run for pizza before having to take Lauren to school for a drama performance, well, as you can probably see, there's more than one reason that I didn't make it to that first class-oh, lets not forget the trip to the grocery store as well.

I didn't get in any exercise yesterday, though I should of tried a bit harder in the morning, but with the idea of going to the spinning class, as well as having popped that lovely blister I had the night before, I thoguht I'd give myself the morning off-at least the blister got a reprieve. I was able to go out this morning and walk, though honestly, I really didn't feel like going and I couldn't find the strength to run any more than maybe 1 mile out of the 4.5 I did and that wasn't all done in one shot-it took me over 55 minutes-slower than a turtle today, but better than nothing.

Yesterday, my eating was wonderful and I felt sooo good. I had to take a good hard look at myself and have a nice long conversation with myself as well. Having many lapses of good judgement in recent weeks I have to find out why I am allowing this to happen all of a sudden and why I didn't allow these events to happen before over the past 2 years. If I don't come to grips with issues like these, I will never be able to keep this weight off. I'm confident I've got the emotional eating licked now, a major accomplishment in my book, but now I have to tackle how, if I want, to eat something totally off plan on a special occasion/once in a blue moon and get right back on. Instead, I find myself taking the plunge and sinking, not coming back up to the surface quickly, but instead, drowning in the sea of bad food. How was it before that I could go to any restaurant/event and not even give the desserts a second thought? I still don't give them a thought, but when the one the other day was put right in front of my face as part of the meal I couldn't resist. I want - NO - I need to be able to either continually turn up my nose at stuff like this, or learn how to be able to try a little and then get right back on plan. I've always said I envy those who are able to cheat and then get right back on the wagon like it never happened and thus do not see any effects from the cheat, whereas I know and have always said that should I cheat I keep running the other way, and this is EXACTLY what I do. I know myself, so in knowing myself, why do I do this? I want to be able to learn control in this respect. Why do I have control over so many other things? Like cookies I may have for the kids that I use to like, they do nothing for me and I would't think of eating them -it just doesn't make sense sometimes. I guess this is just something else I need to work on within my life and it's something that's going to take time, just as the weight loss did. Hope you don't mind me sharing my personal thoughts on this-wonder if I make sense sometimes.

Anyhow, back to my eating yesterday, there was a feeling of some empowerment I had that I can't really explain, but it felt GOOD!:D Not even all the crap food we had in the house that NADINE brought from Canada bothered me at all. I put all of it in a bag and set it on the dining room table with ELI'S work stuff and didn't give it a second thought. Didn't even give it a third thought when ELI came home and started to indugle after dinner on it. THAT felt wonderful and I felt like I was back in control. Today, I'm feeling just as good and look forward to a fabulous day.

I think for me I have to have consistency of some sort. I don't like eating foods that I don't know what's in them. When NADINE made dinner the other night I watched her use a LOT of oil, something we don't do at home, and I really didn't want to eat the food. We went to lunch at the ME restaurant the other day and I have a hard time choosing what to eat because most items come with rice (no subs for veggies at these places) nor do I know how it's made, so I stick to falafels, not the most low-fat item on the menu though. I find that I eat best when I have foods that I've made that I can journal all the info-when I don't know, I don't seem to do as well as I could.

Okay, enough babbling here, I know I'm proably boring the heck out of everyone!!!

GRACIOUS, please explain VICTORIA DAY. It took me years to come and ask what BOXING DAY in the UK was, and it wasn't what I thought it was. Always thought it had to do something with boxing, boy, was I wrong!! LOL!! I take it from your post it's similar to Memorial Day? Are you back SBing, or still Atkining a bit? What I don't understand with Atkins, how the heck do you not have major dookie problems-there's no fiber at all in his plan-that alone would drive me nuts, I'd be so stopped up my hazel eyes would turn brown. Loved the egg and bra story!!!!!

VES, that class you went to, the girl you described reminds me of that commercial with the spinning class and girl named KELLY. I'd definitely complain to whoever you could, esp. if this happens again. Maybe she was having a crappy day, but if not, someone should say something-surely they'd do something to correct her, or at least you'd hope so. Glad your friend saw the SB LIGHT, many people, esp those who should lose weight, think that if you speak one word about your WOE you're obsessed. I think they are more jealous that you found something that works and have the willpower to do it.

JACKK-you never had shrimp before the other day? WOW! I love shrimp, though I never buy it. Did you like it? Nice boss handing over the plastic. Vodka and grapefruit juice??? 4??? How could you go back to work after drinking those??? Re-read the SB book-I've read that thing so many times-honestly, I know what has to be done-just have to keep reminding myself, I need my little mantra tatooed on my hand to continually see - which do you want more, the ____ or the weight loss?!? How's the journaling going?

COUNTRY, thanks for the compliment on Bailey, my niece. I haven't seen her in a few days and I'm sure she's changed a little since being born a week ago, may go by there today and make sure she's still in the cute zone;) I too have been watching the different scales on Ebay-want a new one as mine only weighs in ounces and I'd like one that weighs in both ounces and grams. I too bought a pair of very gentley used Nike sneakers at a garage sale last weekend that I'll have to break in as well - couldn't pass them up, a great $1 purchase. Glad you liked the cheesecake-I dare not make it anytime soon!

NANCE, CONGRATS!!! I know I don't have to tell you, but what the heck, I'm so proud of you!!!!:spin: What an awesome sight to read that you've hit a new low for yourself-I'm behind you 100%, you know that!!! Hey girlfriend, you described kafta there, not kibbe-though both are equally delicious!!! Oops, seems Trixie is going to get an arse beating. I'm sure Floyd egged her on! Hope it comes out-maybe the Oxyclean will do the trick-have to try some on Lauren's carpet where my niece Ainsley barfed orange mac and cheese-on her nice off white carpet! GOOD LUCK!

TRISH, CONGRATS for losing yet another pound AND for hitting a new milestone!!! 30lbs - you go girl!!! Kids are getting out today:eek: Kids aren't out down here until June 12th, and that's to soon for me-not sure what the kids are going to do between end of school and summer school that starts July 8th-hoping their Father takes them on a week trip somewhere to give me some free time-that would be nice. What are you kids doing for the summer? Better yet, what are you going to do with the kids for the summer? Happy belated bday to JORDAN. Congrats on running that 5K!!!! Hey, the offer is open to come visit should you want when you come to the Sunshine State in July!!! Glad to hear you've got a new SB'er going there-always easier when you have someone close that's following the same WOE as you-good moral and support booster!

DARAMUS, CONGRATS on this weeks loss, you are continuing to do well! Whatever exercise you end up doing is going to be not only wonderful for your health, but helpful in toning and weight loss-find what you enjoy doing the most and don't worry about anything else. Go learn to ride horses, I use to love riding when I was a kid, haven't been on a horse since I was 19-lonngggg time ago-you'll probably love it and it's a new experience for you!

GLORY, I hope your daughter realizes she can eat, and eat good food, and lose weight at the same time. LAUREN is almost 14 1/2 and she has no interest in losing the weight. It breaks my heart that she's following in my footsteps-I wish she wasn't in knowing all that I know. What can we do-damned if you say something, and feel damned if you don't-there's no happy medium with a situation such as this.

JBUG, sounds like you are doing quite well thus far on SB, CONGRATS! That's a great loss in 2 weeks!! You did great in the chat room-like you had done it many times before;) The dreaded scale question...I think we are all different when it comes to that metal monster. Some people don't even own a scale, some go on it only once a week, while others are totally obsessed with it and continually weigh in many times throughout the day-which is me, I confess, except when I've had a lapse in judgement as I have recently and I KNOW for a fact I'm up (feel it in my clothes) and then, I don't want to have a thing to do with that scale. It's a love/hate relationship. Weighing in and posting your weight is not mandatory at all on this board, nothing is-but we do WIW for those who want to-why WIW some may ask-well, that's the day I started SB and it sure as heck sounded good to me, so that's my coined phrase!

ROSALIE, sounds like you too have the same trouble as I do when it comes to making one indiscretion end up being a day of bad indiscrections! Glad to hear you're back on track-makes two of us-hope we stay on the straight and narrow from here on!! Thanks for noticing my niece being cute-I keep saying she takes after me, though I don't know if anyone believes it!

TONI, so what are you going to make first now that you got the agave - time to scan the recipe boards!!!!! Don't worry about a 1/2lb, esp if you know you are eating right-but if you feel there's something amiss, definitely post one of your menu's from the last day or two. It could be hormonal too - just take a weight and see attitude and don't worry about it. Okay, just took a view of your menu, and with not knowing all the amounts you eat, I'm guessing you aren't eating enough. I also suspect you aren't getting enough fiber or calcium either.

CAT, WOW, thought you'd bit the dust there. I wish you well in your goal to lose 20lbs, not sure if that will be feasible for you or not, but whatever you lose is a definite step in the right direction!!

HORSECHICK, here's your official WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg Glad you've jumped in and joined us! Always happy to have ANOTHER FLORIDIAN ON THE BOARD!!! You have the dubious distinction of being the closet person on the board to me now-so with that, as I've said before, we are definitely going to have to meet in the near future. You're doing very well thus far-keep up the great work! JAMBA JUICE, if you are using it as a meal once in a while, well, I wouldn't worry about it too much. DARAMUS likes going there once in a while-but like him, try not to make it a regular occurance, all that juice is like pure sugar, better to eat the fruit and get the fiber, but if nothing else is around and it's for a meal, like I said, once in a while won't kill you. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it's always nice to get to know a bit more about our board members. As for making replying to others easier, I do my replies as if I were writing a letter on AOL, but alas, have lost many posts from my computer just cutting off line. I just open and reduce my windows. I'm sure others out there have a much better and easier way. If you look at the bottom of the board if you do your reply in the box, you'll see all the past replies down there, but then again, if you don't do it elsewhere and your computer shuts down or locks up, your going to be *****in with the rest of us who have lost posts just the same way!

HOMESCHOOLING MAMA, first off, WELCOME TO THE BOARD! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg Glad you've decided to join our wonderful group. Hmmm, hope you don't mind, but can we shorten your name to MAMA, or would you prefer something else-just makes typing a bit faster;) I can relate to where you are at this point as I am 5' 1 1/2" tall and my highest weight ever (that I know of) was 284lbs. That's wonderful should be easier that the entire family will be doing SB-I wish everyone well and good luck. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, we're all more than happy to help. Hope you take a family before picture to compare with the during and after!!! Where in Texas are you? Seems there's now just as many Texans aboard as Floridians!

MEL, glad to see you're still alive and well. Glad to hear you're still doing well, and losing, even if it's slow. Girl, I'm sure you'll be passing me at the WDWM, as will thousands of others - seems this old bod just ain't able to keep up the pace these days.

MONET, I too haven't inhaled the bags of pretzels I have in the house. I seem to go through phases. When something is new I eat a lot of whatever it is and then lose some interest in it. In a way it's good, but then it's bad that whatever it may be ends up going bad and rots or gets bucks. I seem to do this quite a bit-another one of my "problems".
I'm sure you'll have everything together and the wedding will go off without a hitch. I'm not sure if I missed it or not, but did you ever get your dress (I pray so) and if so, what color did you end up chosing?

RED1, don't fret about those 2lbs, trust me, I'm far above 2lbs right now and fretting over those pounds doesn't help at all. Hope things on the homefront are better!!!

KIMMY, sorry to hear that the kids haven't been feeling well and then to hear you seem to be catching something as well-you're probably so run down with no sleep and then being around little sickies-hope you get better soon. WOW, 119, you've really gotten down there girl! CONGRATS!! So, are you trying to stay down there, or are you giving yourself a cushion as I did 119-124? Just don't lose any more weight, we don't want you to vanish into thin air!!!

BETH, glad to see your post-glad I didn't have to call out the National Guard to get you on the board! I can relate to your money woes, but I'm sure you'll get back into the swing of things. Do try to watch your eating, putting in so much wonderful effort and not having results that are due to you just because you're not eating enough just isn't fair and can easily be remedied. Don't worry that you are "bothering" those at work when you need to go to the "urination station" remember, you need to think about BETH first!!! Nice to have someone notice you and your weight loss, definitely a great moral booster. Glad to hear your SD is doing better and back at home. Girl, you brag away about DS-you have bragging rights on here!

TREE, ack, the yogurt! Girl, you have to get better on those labels!!! With peaches now coming into season, try what I do and puree some fruits and mix it into your plain yogurt and put a little sweetener in it, if needed - much better than the stuff already made up out there. If you've tried making the yogurt cheese without success, more than likely the yogurt you had had gelatin in it, not one you want to buy. I like using CASCADE, HORIZON or AXELROD. There's easy instructions on how to make it on one of the old recipe boards, just need to do a search. It's delicious in so many ways.

Well, I've been on this computer for 3 hours now, typing away-can't believe it! Well, at least I'm caught up-sort of. I still have more to say, but no time to do so at the present. I'll try to get back on here later tonight if possible, though don't hold your breath. I have to go with ELI to an art thing at Minnie and Morris' sons work (he's a judge), he's doing some art exhibit in his courtroom and ELI'S supplying the SB COFFEE and pastries and wants me to go-means another night of not getting to go to my weight training class-that's 4 nights missed in a row.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hopefully I am posting this correctly!
I am waiting for my book to come in the mail.
I have been eating legally(I think for 3 days!)

Question,
Do any of you buy Alvarado St. Bread?
For one slice of the California Style it contains 60 calories, 1 gat gram, 10 g carbs, 2 g fiber and 1 g of sugar. Is this legal??

I have been reading the sweettalk board and ppl mention that there is an error in the book....something about the maintenance plan and the first two week plan.....can any one elaborate on that for me??

Thanks A bunch!!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been MIA. Our computer monitor had problems so we sent it off to be worked on. We just got it back yesterday evening. I have been keeping children for my cousin. So I have been very busy with them. My hubby finally got a job. Its only 5 minutes from the house. He got 2 job offers in one day. After 2 months of no job calls! The baby is going to be early as I have gestational diabetes. I only have a touch of it. I don't know why they make us drink that 100gram sugar drink when I am not used to eating or drinking sugar. I came home with a glucometer and I have to stick my finger 4 times a day!!! So far the highest its been is 115. I hate needles so this is not the easyiest thing for me to do. I am still sticking to the sugar busters way of eating and still feeling great. I have only gained 14 lbs and its all baby and the fluid it floats in. The doctor is proud I am only gaining that little. Thanks to sugarbusters!!!!! My new due date is August 18 or 19 the doctor said. The baby is moving more and more every day. It kicks and thumps like a bay mule  . I love feeling it move and kick. Beings this is the last baby I will have I am trying to savor every moment of it moving inside me.

WELCOME Newbies....This is a great WOE. You are in for an enjoyable experience.

Congrats to all the losers this week. And to those that didn't just you wait it will start to drop off.

Well got to go check the kiddos and make sure they are asleep for naptime.

Everyone have a great day!!!!

I have to make this the abridged version because I have been going nuts lately and still am!!

Firstly, I am glad so many of you got a chuckle out of my *baby/egg* story. It was funny and I am so demented that we took a photo of the bra covered with egg...not with me in it though! :o Daughter found 2 more eggs but I got a light from a friend and am trying to do it right this time. TREE- thanks for the heads up on the heat issue, I was just winging it and didn't know the details.

Secondly, I forget if I mentioned this or not but I am back down to 164 and fully recovered from my Mother's Day Plus a few more days Extravaganza. I am pleased with the wagon! DEBELLI- I am still doing Atkins and probably will keep it up until Friday or Saturday. The fibre thing is not an issue with me because I drink so much water, but I know what you mean! MONET- What can I say? When I am in trouble, good ole Atkins always does good by me. It was just to get back to 164 and like I said I will hit SB again this week.

Thirdly, isn't this an awful way to do posts? I need to catch up en masse though and this is the way for me to do it now. Thanks to all the HOMESCHOOLING MOMS that gave their 2 cents about curriculums. I noted them and will look into each out of curiousity.

Lastly, and this is another sad farming trauma...our wee lamb is sick. He began looking strange last night and as of this morning he was laying on his side and obviously ill. To make a long story short we did the calls, got the antibiotics and home remedies and are trying to get him fixed up. Poor wee guy. We think he ate some green foliage that is poisonous to sheep. Maybe tomorrow he will look better but throughout the day I have not seen an improvement. :(

In anycase, I gotta go!!

Oops...PS to DEBELLI- Victoria Day is a holiday to honour the birthday of Queen Victoria who reigned in the 1800's. It has become the Mark of summer. It means the gardeners get out in full force, the kids know school has only one more month to go and everyone enjoys the long weekend. We end our summer with Labour Day Weekend in the beginning of September. Nice holiday bookends, as it were.

Okay, now I gotta fly!!!!!!!!

Right now this wedding situation is the major stress factor (read: incentive to eat) in my life. I have hardly had time to skim everyone’s posts this week, let alone reply. My apologies for this!!!

We had a big hit to our wedding budget this week. Dan’s ex-wife agreed that they want John (Dan’s son) to go to summer school and camp. They are sending him where he attends school, which offers classes in the morning and camp-like activities in the afternoon for six weeks this summer. The bad news is, in order to pay our half, Dan is having to borrow from our wedding fund, since all of our savings and tax refunds have been put in there.

This means that there’s a pretty good chance we won’t be able to afford the Hawaii wedding.

Right now, we’re thinking of asking our Pastor if she’ll marry us in a small, quiet, private ceremony at the church. We originally had our date set at July 20, and we may just be able to do this now, if the date’s still available.

I’ve given my best friend warning, and she thinks she can fly in (about $300) and of course she can stay at my place. I have yet to call my mom, but the same would apply to her (I have a large 2-bedroom apartment!).

Dan is really bummed that we’re not going to Hawaii. I’m thinking we MAY still be able to go, what with not having to pay airfare for his son or extra for the wedding. We just might keep it in budget, provided we keep saving like crazy.

Anyhow, my time to lose weight just got cut from 8 months down to less than 2. Any recommendations for getting in shape quickly?

Wish me luck!

Jenn

I usually get the Dannon Light 'n Fit or whatever it is... it's sweetned with aspartame and frutose. I like the containers, they fit in my work lunchbox really well. I do also use plain yogurt and mix in some agave and fruit, or even a couple of teaspoons of the All-Fruit spread as a flavoring.
I've always loved yogurt, and being someone who is on antibiotics frequently, it's something I love to keep eating to help with other things :o I also only drink Acidophilus milk for the same reason :)

HEY!! I just realized I hit the 30 pounds gone mark this week!!!! Wow... GO ME!!!

Wow, your miss one day around here and look what happens, 3pages sence I last posted, Man, I'll just answer the ones who wrote me cause I don't have time to read them all. I was home all day yesterday just waiting for the doc to call and low and behold he didn't get around to it. I seem to get around to it when they want some blood from me or a jab there or anything else. Isn't my time just as valueable. Oh well enough crying I finally call him again to day on his -personal phone and got some answers and anapology. imagine that, him keeping me from coming on and posting I hated it.

Jack K: How old are your girls, The way I do it is, If it isn't SF or Brown it doesn't come in the house. It also is easier because hubby and Dayna are both Diabetic so they know what's at stake.

Toni: Hope your right about the 100lbs. I'm an emotional eater, and things have been pretty emotional for me lately. So I'll just keep plugging along.

HomeSchool: Way to go. Great loses, That's what we did and it works for our family. I also tried the atkins and lost, but then got bored with it and hated eating so much meat. I felt free the minute I started SB. Thanks for the welcome.

Monet: Boy isn't that the truth, I pray alot. Teen are so emotional on there own then you add a weight problem and boy oh boy have you got a handful.

Tishaloo: I think Tex, is a little far for me to bring you lunch but if it was closer I'd do it.

Tree: Thanks I agree, It's good to meet you, Where in Arizona are you from. My Son just moved back from Glendale.

Deb: It isn't as simple as I've made it sound there were conditions, If she hasn't had a lose by Sunday then she wants to go on Metabalife. I'm not sure what to do about that so I'm praying hard she has a good lose as being diabetic and pills don't sound good to me. I'm amazed at how much self astem these girls have, even with a weight problem, I've been dealing with mine sence grade school and have a poor selfastem. But that's another story.

Well gang I must go it's time to make a salad for Dayna. Oh by the way I lost 2lbs this wk. I'm on my way. Love to all Glory

Hi Gang,

It's been busy here today plus I had to take DD back to Dr. for post-op checkup. All wasy good, but now they want to put her on Lupron shots which puts her into menapause for 6 months to kill any endometrosis they didn't get. Sounds far out to me and scary. I did research onit and it sounds like the best to way get rid of this problem, so I guess we will do it. Side effects, are hot flashes, headaches, irratiblity, (more)?.

Gator, I walk everyday. Sometimes it is a chore, but I do it. Other times I really enjoy it. I know that when I don't walk I don't real good about myself. So I guess yu can say it does become fun after awhile.

Deb, No that was the first time I ever ate it. It was ok, mostly liked the breading. I didn't have to go back to work. I went home it was 8:00 at nite. That was 4 all afternoon, while everyone was playing golf. Do you think vodka and grapefruit is OP? Deb I think you are right with your thinking about this WOE. I am hoping that I have learned something from all this and eventually after I reach goal I want to be able to have a baked potatoes sometime or an occassional bisquit and count them as my carbs and still be able to get back OP and keep this weight off. We have to ban together here and make sure we get the right mind set.

ChrisB, Welcome. This is a great place. I too started on the sweettalk board and ended up here. I like here better. Is the bread SGWW? I have heard the menues in the book were for maintenance more than losing. Good luck.

Thunderwoman, Welcome back. We have missed you. Hate to hear about the GD, but SB should help out. WTG on only gaining 14 pounds. You will be so proud of yourself when that baby is born that you won't have a lot of weight to lose. Baby kicking is such a wonderful feeling. enjoy it.

Gracious, Glad you have 2 more chicks going. Glad you got a light this time. Poor baby lamb. WTG on getting back to your low.

Jenn, What a bummer on the wedding plans. Maybe you can save awhile a take a belated trip later. Keep doing SB, it will come off, maybe not in time for the wedding, but it will.

Beth, Congrats on the 30 pounds. You go girl!

GloryIBe, My girls are 22 and 19, not kids anymore. My 19 YO told me today that she is going to do WW. I told her to do SB with me that it was easier. Congrats on the 2 lbs.

Have a great night, See you tomorrow, It's FRIDAY!!!:o

OK girls and boys, I'm trying this Deb's way, with the email window...we'll see.

MONET - Thanks for the advice, I'll use it if Deb's doesn't work.

ROSALIE - Howdy, and I'll save your help, too!

HOMESCHOOL MAMA - definitely a shorter name would be cool, if you're game. I also HS my two eldest boys 13 & 12. We don't use an organized curriculum (organized, I'm not) but they always test a few grades above level, and it works for us. I have two smaller kids that go to pre-school while I get other things done. It sounds like you're off to a great start!

NANCEMEISTER - Don't want a scale...my kids'll just use it for a fishing weight. I'll stick to Publix, but....

JACK-K had a great idea...I can always show up naked and be really sure. No.....I have a tattoo. That's an identifying mark, nevermind.

GATORGAL - Thanks for your idea...I'll use it if this one I'm using now (Professor Deb's) doesn't work. We always had chicken AND roosters. My dad said that the girls wouldn't lay without boys around. Was he mistaken? We had Rhode Island Reds....yummy eggs. I'm sure they'd lay for awhile, but will they lay till they're old ladies?

DEB - You are the greatest, girl! Thanks for the hearty welcome!! YES!!!! Let's get together. II'm in deadline mode now till Monday, so will probably not be checking much, but I'm back in Monday midday and then Tues we are off the Central FL for a break with the family until Thursday eve. Now that you all know I'll be gone, come on over and raid the fridge....watch out for the BIG DOG!! Hey, I didn't know you liked to ride....Let's go, my treat. I have a wonderful mare that all the newbies ride. She's also the prettiest horse in the barn. Let's make a date!

EVERYONE - Love all of you already! When I get the hang of this, I'll be more personal...I'm fighting a cold, so haven't excercised since Tuesday a.m. (Hate that!) and am not going to have time until Monday... besides I feel like doo-doo. Eating is going well, I bought some bread that I thought was legal, but I was wrong....Pepperidge Farm Pumpernickel. DH noticed that it didn't say WHOLE wheat, only wheat flour. But there are no other additives or corn syrupy things....I'll wait for skinny days. I need to remember to drink, drink, drink. It's awful when I've been drinking alot and I go to a client's for a meeting and they are pattering on and on and on...I feel so rude leaving to tinkle, so I hold it and then RUN for a potty after I very coolly make my elegant exit. I just wish #2 was as simple as that. All this roughage is making things rough in THAT department.

'Nuff said with that! Hope all's well....hugs and kisses....keep up the GREAT work, and have FUN doing it!!!

Ciao for now,
Shellie

Hi everybody. Just popping in for a minute. I haven't even had time to lurk this week. Only 5 more days of school and things are really busy. To update you on my mom...she's back to her usual routine that she had before the surgery. She drove herself to the beauty shop Sat. and went to church. Even went to her quilting group on Mon. She sees an oncologist on June 3, so don't let up on the prayers. I'm just thankful that she has done so well getting over the surgery.

Hope I can get caught up soon.

Well, so much for good intentions. :dizzy: I was going to try to keep up & read & post, but I have failed miserably. So much going on here that I just haven't been able to.

I did go back to my last post & read a few responses so that's what I'm going to address.

Tranquil I'd love to meet you if the I-95 Outlet Mall is good for you on Saturday, June 1st. My email addy is melbf90@hotmail.com Let's work out the details that way if that's ok.

Slaphappy I would love to meet you as well, especially since we will be in your area for a whole week. Maybe you can drive down to the condo & enjoy the pool with us? We can have salad & ice cream :D SF of course!!! Let's work out the plans via email. Do you work everyday? shift work? I'll give you the phone number to the condo when I email you. We arrive Sat evening, June 1st

My sister & her dh will be joining us on our trip & we are so excited about that. I've been tring to start packing, but have not done any more than get the suitcase out. LOL I start back to work tomorrow & have to work 72 hrs in the next 7 days, so I may not pack till the night before we leave as usual. But that's ok, next Friday will be here soon!

Scale was up today.  Well maybe being back to work will help me control my eating.

Deb Your neice is soooooo cute!

Well, got to go. Will try to check in later.

Hoppin' in to say hello!

Well, I confess I didn't read the posts because to say that I am far behind would be an understatement. But I can say that I hope that everyone is doing well and that I have missed knowing what is going on with you all.

Update on the redecorating:
Living room is 90% finished. I have painted everything but the baseboards; waiting for the floor to be refinished first. DH needs to replace al the outlet covers and such. But the thing is painted and there is a new ceiling fan and blinds. Thank heavens I got the popcorn off the ceiling as well. I worked right up until the part on Sunday.

Update on Southern Living At Home:
Had the first party on Sunday the 19th. Paint was barely dry on the walls! My sales were good, especially considering it was my first. Just wish I could really get something going here in my town. Next weekend I have 2 shows in Georgia - Thank heavens for family members! Have several shows promised for later this year, just nothing in the immediate future.

Update on Hurricanes:
Well, they are in the "final four" of Hockey and are up 3-1 over Toronto. We're going to the game on Saturday night and hope to see them clinch! If they win they'll be in the Stanley Cup finals! :spin:

Next Home Project:
Gonna take down our awful, splintery, warped deck this weekend. It is such an eyesore and is rickety! I think once it is down we will be better able to tell what we would like to do in the future in the backyard.

The contractor came last week for dinner and to talk about the kitchen. Boy does it need some love! Hope to get them started on that in mid-June.

Travel Plans:
I will be leaving for Atlanta and Columbus on Thursday. Have a show on Thursday evening and one on Saturday. Sunday I'll come back home with my 12 yo niece with me. Then we are going camping in Bryson City, NC (mountains) with my bro and sis's family the weekend of June 8th.

Now do you guys see why I have been away for so long? This is one CRAZY schedule I've been keeping.

Thanks to those of you who have kept in touch with quick little emails! It's always great to hear from you.

Hope to be back on the board when I can be a more active participant!

Love to all!

Peace,
Frog

Evening!

Counting the hours and minutes til the 3 day weekend!!!
Not doing anything special, but always happy to be off!

Toni Looks like you could use more protein and one more fruit....also, we aren't "suuposed" to be drinking caffeine because it affects this WOE....I know...I have to have a cup in the morning, but maybe try to live with just one cup instaed of two! other than that, you are doing awesome. Eat a little more, when you cut back too much, the body freezes up! Words out of the mouth of someone that's done it both ways, and less in the stomach, doesn't necessarily mean less off the hips!

Jack-K When is Trixie NOT in trouble....her nickname is Devil-dog. I'm letting her get all her puppy phase out of her system, and after she turns a year old...I'm going to sit down and have a heart to heart with her!

Gator I didn't go to my appointment after all....my friend was really sick, and we go to the same Dr....so I told her to take my appointment. I'm getting by, I just don't like taking anti-inflammatories. I would never do sugery...to scary on the feet. I know it's inflammation causing the pain and have orthotics in my walking shoes.

Chrisb1022 The bread you are describing sounds perfectly legal. Anything that has 3 grams of sugar or less per serving is okay. I'm not sure what you are asking re: maintenance and the two week thing...Let's just say this is a permanent way of eating (Ab. WOE). I think some people may chhose to be a little more strict until they reach their goal weight, and then will allow a few things occaisionally....but most of us have come to realize that white sugar, white flour, and all things made from them are what got us into trouble in the first place!

Jenn in Min Focus on what is most important....the committment you are making to this man whom you love. Sure it would be AWESOME to be married in Hawaii....who wouldn't want to get married there....but the ceremony is the real deal...Maybe you can go for your honeymoon...or maybe on your one year anniversary. Things will work out....they always do!

Beth WAY TO GO GIRLFRIEND!!!! I'm so glad you finally got to a scale...the suspense was KILLING me!!!!! Too bad about not being able to pound down the water...plus it helps fill you up so you don't want to eat as much....not to mention all the good benefits!

MusicTeach Glad to hear your Mom is on the mend and getting back into a rountine. It will be good for her to participate in things and lift her spirits. Hope you are hanging in there! Prayers are still coming your way!{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}

BOB Sorry to hear your not feeling well, when you get better we want all the details! Tell Skeeter to get you a hot water bottle!

Well, I'm going to sign off....veg out, read a magazine! See you all tomorrow!

Horsechick--Our hens layed eggs just fine and we didn't have a rooster. But maybe we were just lucky.

Debbie--Check the USA Today Newspaper from Wednesday. In it is an article about a new hormone or something they have discovered that makes it difficult for people who have lost weight to resist splurge eating. It was a very interesting article that may have a bearing on what you are going through. Hope you find it helpful.

Well, I am exhausted....had a nonstop day at work, then after working some overtime - I left for the movies and saw About a Boy, which I thought was a really touching movie.... the boy reminded me of my own ds....

Well, I slipped!!! I had Popcorn - I just could not resist!!!!! It was awful - the temptation was too much for me and in the meantime I was just craving something crunchy and salty.... oh well, back to being good....

I did lose my 1.5 lbs of water weight - but I am sure I just gained it back tonight at the movies :o

Melf - I wrote ya :) Glad to have a chance to meet!!!

I have to go to sleep now! Adios,

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to drop in and tell all of you that I'm still alive. I'm just real busy with the end of school. At the end of the year we have so much extra work to do - it's not fun at all!!!! I miss all of you tons! I've been doing pretty good staying on plan - I've strayed a couple of times but not too bad. I'm still losing and that's the important thing! Hopefully I'll be able to catch up with everyone this weekend but if not I'll definately be able to catch up after my surgery on June 4th! Since I won't be able to talk for 2 weeks I'm sure I'll be on the computer a lot!!! Well, I'll try and check back in tomorrow!!

Love y'all!

Thanks so much for answering my question on the bread.
This bread is really good, I don't see wheat in the ingrediants...and it is definitely not white. I has Organic sprouted Wheat berries(wheat?), O Millet, O Rolled Oats, O soy beans , O Lentils ....

I see what you are saying about this WOE and other boards I have been peeking at. You guys seem so at ease with this WOE.
I like that! Thanks

Happy Happy Friday!

It's finally here. It's going to be a busy weekend. 5 graduation parties and 1 wedding, plus I have to go to Lexington to visist my niece coming in from MD. Crazy me. I am taking my triscuits and my bread to all parties. I'm sure they will have ham/turkey, veggies and fruit and cheese. So I should be fine. I'm saving my carbs for the party meals. Now if I can curtail the voda and grapefruit drinks. :s:

Just caugt up on all the posts from last nite.

Shellie, Your pump bread may be legal, it just can't be "enriched". Hope your cold goes away soon.

Bob, Hate that you are feeling bad. Rest and take care of yourself. Feel better soon.

Music, thanks for the update on your mom. Glad she is doing so well.

Melf, Glad yur DS and BIL are going on vacation with you. 72 hours, WOW you will need a vacation.

Frog, I was just thinking about you ont he way to work this morning. ESP I guess. Sounds like you have been very busy. Your SL@H seems to be going good. Things will pick up. I'd have a party for you if I wasn't so far away.

Nance, How sweet of you to give your appointment to yur friend. But that sounds like you. You made me smile.

Gator, That news story about the hormone was on TV today. It said the peopel who have had their stoamch staple do so well because the surgery removes the growth gene (or somethign like that). But I remembered Deb had that done. Maybe now they will come out will a pill to suppress that hormone. I ran into a friend last nite that had lost 80 pounds and kept it off 2 years, now she has gain every bit of it back. How discouraging. It really scares me.

Tranquil, Popcorn! Was it good???

Fruit, Glad to hear from you. End of school is always so busy, but look at the outcome!!! WTG on staying OP. Check back soon.

Deb, I'm still journaling.

Chris, that bread sounds ok to me. Keep reading labels

Don't know if I'll be able to get back on today, the computer man is working on our computers today. Hope so though. Have a great day and a great weekend to everyone.:)

Lots of things happening. I am holding my own at 164 and think I will start back on SB tomorrow. I am looking forward to my pitas again!

Our materials for our house arrive today...after a wee stink they are now guaranteed. We have men from the church coming tomorrow at 6-7 am to start taking shingles off and start re-roofing. All the wives and kids are coming too so it should be a wild place here tomorrow. I have to feed everyone and some ladies are bringing things so I am not sure what will be around. I just know that I am not going to blow it!

Our poor wee lamb looks worse today. It is very sad but if he is going to die I am hoping he does soon and doesn't suffer long. He is getting all his meds but I can tell that he is going downhill fast. I feel so sorry for him and I really don't want all the kids tomorrow to be around a dying lamb. Who knows how some of them will react.

HORSECHICK- We used to have 20 hens and no roosters..rhode island reds..and they laid all the time. You don't need a rooster, in fact, if you are just interested in eggs it is better without a rooster around. We have the 2 roosters...a leghorn and a plymouth ...because we got 10 babies and the 2 boys were in the batch! We like hearing them cock-a-doodle-do so we keep them around. They are beautiful *studly* roosters.

JACK-K- Have fun at all your parties. Good to hear you are going prepared so you can stay on the wagon with us!

MUSICTEACH- I am so happy to hear about your Mom getting back to her regular routine. That will help her keep a positive outlook on things, no doubt.

TRANQUIL- Hop back on with us!! Popcorn is hard to resist, just the smell of it makes me salivate. :o

JENN- Bummer on the wedding news, I really hope you can sort things out so you are all happy.

Monet- I got my thyroid checked and am waiting for the results. He did it because I am always tired. But it was the TSH test...is that the one that is not accurate??? As opposed to the T3 or T4?

Okay all you Americans...have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

Good Friday Morning Everyone

It's actually Tuesday to me, but it's PAYDAY so that's all that counts!! ;) Gonna take my little one with me to get my check before I have to be at work so we have time to go across the street to the park and feed the ducks! I worked by myself last night and it was BUSY!!! I feel like I need to sleep all day, but sheesh... I have too much to do, and I have to be back at work at 4pm! LOL!!

Thanks everyone for the WTG's. A year ago I never thought I'd see this side of 200 pounds again, but 4 months and 30 pounds later... I'm on my way down to 150!!!

NANCE - LOL! You crack me up girl... Maybe if I wait another month before posting my weight... I'll get a scale in the mail from a mystery person... :D :D :D ;) One day I'll get one. Sometime when I'm not so dang worried about how I'm doing... I'm afraid I'd get too obsessed with it... actually I know I would. I'd be stepping on it 3 times a day...I like not having to think about it. I'll try to get over there more often just for you...LOL!!!!

Well all, time for my aerobics... I'm trying to do it every 3 days. Not very often I know, but I usually burn out fast, so I'm starting slowly so I don't get discouraged. Gives me time to feel completely normal before going into it again.

Hope everyone has a great Friday... and a Lovely weekend.. :)

Buh Bye

Morning!

Went for a walk this morning and feel good!

Chris Did you say that you ordered the SB Book? If so I hope you get it for the three day weekend. It answers alot of questions, and the things it doesn't answer the SB Goddess Debbie knows ALL the right answers!

Tranquil You bad girl! My DH eats popcorn in front of my face everynight! I know how hard it is at the movies....I try to plan ahead and bring a legal snack...because once you hit the theatre doors it's all downhill....and I always want a "regular" coke to go with that popcorn, so it turns into two evils :s:....try to bring some salted nuts and a diet coke.

Fruit I'll be glad when schools out for you too, because I miss you posting on the board!!! Hurry up!!! Ship those kids off to camp!

Jack-K You sound like one busy lady. If you keep talking about how good those vodka/grapefruit drinks are, you're going to make me break down and want to try one! So far I've stuck to drinking only red wine on occasion...with the exception of the two margaritas I had while camping (on the rocks)

Gracious So sorry to hear about your little lamb....I can't bear the thought of animals or children suffering...breaks my heart! I'll say some prayers, and by all means...keep the kids busy and away from him!

Beth Glad to see you posting more....I miss you when your not around! I have to agree with you on the scale...it is always a temptation, and I never make it Wednesday through Wednesday without hoping on, so maybe it's not so bad after all. Where did you weigh at Publix or your MIL? How's your SD doing by the way????

Okay....the Nancemeister is going to be late if I don't skidaddle right now!

P.S. Deb Thanks for calling last night :) Great to talk with you!

HiedieHo All!!!

Yes, tis me! I have been delinquent long enough. Just have been so busy. Been doing some PR write-ups for church and Habitat. Plus every time I turn around there has been a meeting!!! I love volunteering, but at times it can be very time consuming. But, hey, it's all for a good cause.

I also had podiatrist appointment. With the neuropathy you don't feel things. The last time I trimmed my toenails I trimmed my toe and didn't know it, until I saw the blood. So now I will go regularly to have feet attended to. The doctor said he would be sure to put down the neuropathy, as insurance doesn't pay for ordinary foot care, for insurance the two calluses are okay.

The last couple of days "arthur" has been flaring up. Certainly can not blame it on the weather. It has been just beautiful here. Warm days, cool nights.

It looks like Melf will be spending all her vacation time meeting up with SBers. It is something for me to look forward to.

The good news is, I have been really OP and it shows!!!

Can not sit too long and it's taken forever to read through the posts to try to keep up with you all. I will have to start fresh. Want to add my welcome to the newcomers ChrisB, Horsechick and Homeschool. Hope I didn't miss any one!

Take care all, Shirley

Guys, has this been the longest week or what!!!

School's finally out. We got an email from Jordan's English teacher that he passed her class. We're just waiting to hear about Algebra II. We're not holding out a lot of hope there except that if he passes this last semester, he at least will get a 1/2 credit that counts as an elective (which he needs). Anyway, he's a much happier kid after yesterday afternoon when finals were over. He even went swing dancing with his friends. Now let me tell you I never thought he was the swing dancing type but just goes to show that they can surprise you.

I've eaten way too many starchy carbs this week, my usual downfall. We've got a party to go to tomorrow evening, a cookout type thing. I'm going to try to make some legal stuff that I can take, maybe some veggies/dip and possible THE CHEESECAKE. We also have a minor league baseball game tonight to go to. In the past I always had at least 1 beer, maybe 2. The last time we went, I had one and it didn't even taste good to me any more. Glad I got that out of my system. We'll probably eat before we go so I won't be tempted with the other (translate definately not OP) food.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe week-end. Gotta run!!

Trish

Good Friday morning everyone... Its cloudy here and looks like rain.. I hope not my DH works at a campground right by the river and the store there has been flooded out twice in the last month. They just got it all cleaned and restocked. He works the night shift starting tonight. So I'm trying to very quiet while he sleeps. Sounds like everyone is busy busy. Schools are out here and done with for the summer. Thank everyone on the eating advice, I really love the line of support here...

Debilli- I hope you have a great day with your Mom....

Beth- You're sure doing good with SB. And a new job with crazy hours. My niece is Cheif of Police in the next town and my sister was a dispatcher in the town so know what crazy hours are...

Gracious- So sorry about the lamb. Thats such ashame... Sounds like you're going to be busy prepareing for the roof crew... Sounds like you're staying strong with your weight...Keep up the good work....

Jack-K- Hope you do well with all the parties and stuff. Sounds like you've got a busy week-end. I had lost allot of weight and kept it off for a real long time to and gained it back and more on top of that. I hope I never have to go there again. I just want to be back down and be able to maintain it. Thats why I picked SB this time. Its more a way of life and if you fight it I think you'll always fight it...

Chris- Sounds like you're fitting right in... Your bread sounds good...

Fruit- Missed seeing you on the board.. Good thoughts for your surgery and hope you get a chance to post more this week-end... Sounds like you're really busy...

Tranquil- Sounds back you just kicked back and took a break!!! Glad you lost that water weight....

GatorGal- I've been hearing about that hormone on the news. It would be wonderful if they would find a pill that would work in suppressing hunger.

Nancemeister-Thank you for the advice. I know you're right about the coffee. I'm slowly cutting down from a pot to two cups but I can't seem to give up that second cup. I know I can but just need to try harder... This seems like its harder to give up than sugar for me.... I hope you have a great week-end...

Frog lover- Wow the work you're doing on your home!!!!!!!!! I'm so jealous. I'll bet your new paint job is great. Now a new deck and kitchen....... Lucky you....

Melf- Sounds like you're all set for a wonderful vacation. It would be wonderful if you and Slaphappy could meet...

Music Teach- Its so good your Mom is driving and stuff.. I'll send up a prayer for her..

Bob- Slow down gal.....Sounds like you've had a rough way to go.. Hope you're feeling better....

horsechick- I hope you're feeling better.. I love pumpernickel bread....

Hope everyone has a great week-end. And a good day......

Regarding the hormone that suppresses those hunger pangs and the incredible urge to EAT!!!--I remember an article in USA Today a number of years ago about people that had lost weight and kept it off for 5 years. There was no magic to their accomplishment, and unfortunately, I believe their secret will apply to me and perhaps many of you all. And that is that they had to stay constantly vigilent. They never were "off the diet" but consistently monitored what they ate, and were faithful to exercise. One man told about allowing himself a once-a-week trip to TCBY for his treat of a chocolate yogurt. What do we call this SB thing? A Way of Eating, and not just for now but forever. I know that this sounds discouraging; it does to me! But I am also testimony to the fact that I lost a good deal of weight and then put it all on and then some. It wasn't that I was even pigging out; I actually have always eaten pretty healthy. But those pounds crept on ounce by ounce. So, I now realize that if I ever get down to goal, I will just never be able to eat like my sister, who is 100 poound soaking wet, and can eat desserts and barbeque to her heart's content. We will always have to keep the "H" word in mind--HEALTH, and eat accordingly. I think Debbie's struggles last week are a good picture of this. What do you think?

Ellen

I am totally bummed...was supposed to go to the doctor today, and he is not in! Now I have to wait until Tuesday.

Yesterday, my daughter brought home some stuff from the bakery she works at. I was naughty and ate a chocolate croissant. Thankfully, the scale was not effected by that this morning.

My son in law to be is upset with me today. He wanted to make a special ham to serve at the reception. He dittered around about it, then decided he did not have time. Then he asked his mom if she would make it. No one told me she said yes, so I ordered all the food from Publix. Yesterday, his mom stopped by, and we talked about the different details. The ham was mentioned, and I told her I had ordered everything. She seemed ok with it. Today, he talked to her and found out she is not making the ham, and now he is upset because he feels like he is not getting anything he wanted at the reception. I suppose he will get over it, but I hate to disappoint him. Now I am wondering if I should call and change the orders, and get his mom to do the ham..... Two weeks until the big day.

GRACIOUS: The TSH test is a good starting point. A lot depends on your doctor. If they tell you it is 'normal', ask for the specific number. Normal ranges from .5 to 5.5. The higher the number, the greater your chances of being hypothyroid, or underactive. Many doctors are reluctant to treat you if your TSH is in the normal range, even if you have all the symptoms. Difficulty losing weight, dry skin, hair falling out, tired, brain fog, even trouble sleeping, are all symptoms. If your test comes back high normal, say 3.5 or above, ask about treating subclinical hypothyroidism, and see what the doctor says. If it helps you feel better, then bingo! Most thyroid experts think women should have a TSH of around 1. My doctor keeps mine at about .5, and even then, I am not completely normal. Concern about the T3 and T4 comes when the standard testing and replacement hormones don't relieve the symptoms. Keep my posted. You know I am fascinated with thyroid stuff! :)

DOn't think I'll be back on until Tuesday, my computer is broken at home.:(

Gracious, Sounds like you are having an old fashioned barn raising at your house. Hope the little lam recovers.

Beth, you are on a downward trend, keep up the good work.

Deb, Have a nic day with your mom.

Nance, WTG on your walk. Is yur foot better?

Trish, Glad Jordan is feeling better about school. Have fun at the ball park!

Toni, what a mess your DH must have had. THere is no bigger mess than from a flood. It looks like rain here too. Hope not we have a wedding to go to outside.

Gator, I agree with you 100%. IF we give up exercise and healthly eating, those pounds will come back faster than lightening! You have to change your eating habits not just what you eat. I hope this it it. I'm too old to keep doing this.

Monet, It's just starting. I would cancel your order and let his mom make the ham. No sense starting out on the wrong foot with your new SIL. Mine only wants cheese. Not bad and an ice sculpture, (he may not het that one). LOL

Rosalie, have fun at badminton and a nice weekend.

Adronsgirl, Good to hear from you. Get back on soon.

Sef, Glad to hear from yu again too. My arthur has been acting up too. Probably my fault though. Sounds like you have been busy. Get back soon.

Have a great weekend and day off everyone!!

Good Friday Afternoon Everyone!!!

Got up early with the intentions to get my walk in before having to take Michael to school but was late getting up by 10 minutes to get my 4.5 miles in safely before running late. Decided to do 3.5 miles, figured I'd have 35 minutes if I ran a bit faster, so started out and found these little legs didn't have the energy to go fast, so in the interest of time decided to go back home, take him to school and THEN go do my 4.5 miles when I didn't have to worry about the time. Ended up putting a bit over a 1/2 mile onto my run/walk length (7:54 time) for the bit I did do beforehand, and ended up just walking the entire 4.5 miles in what seemed and actually did take me forever to complete, 1hr 56 seconds:eek: VERY SLOW!

We went to this little art thing last night. ELI brought all the SB PASTERIES as well as BOB'S FAVORITE SB COLUMBIAN COFFEE. It was a student art exhibit from one of the art magnet schools called NEW WORLD in Minnie & Morris' SIL'S courtroom and I have to say, it was really good, many pieces I thought were great. One kid, David Olivera had his painting bought by VOLVO. It's hard to see the detail, but up close this looks like a photograph and not a painting. Here's a website that had a picture of it:

http://www.oceanracemiami.org/poster.html

Such talent! Anyhow, ELI was awarded such a nice certificate of appreciation for helping in this event which was really nice and unexpected. ELI tried to egg me on to eat a dark chocolate covered graham cracker - I didn't budge - will someone come down here and slap him one - BOB, you like doing that!!!

Speaking of egg and eating...yesterday was ANOTHER wonderful day of 100% OP eating and I'm doing phenominal so far today. I couldn't be happier. I did get on the scale and found myself at 124.5-just a tad more to get back to being a happier camper. Water consumption has been fabulous as well:D

Here I think that things are going to settle down now-WRONG! It seems in the next couple weeks, until the kids are out of school I'll be finding myself a wee bit busy still. Lauren just remembered this morning she has a dance for NJHS, and then she has her 8th grade dance, which mind you, I have to take her to find a suitable dress to wear still-not going to be an easy task and I think I am already going to pull my hair out. Shopping for/with her is NOT one of my enjoyable past times. I'm not looking forward to it at all. She also has an awards ceremony, date TBA. Not sure what MICHAEL still has going on.

Went with my Mom today and just ran around, nothing exciting really, just spend some time with her. We went up to Broward but did NOT make it to OLE OLE, but sure did hit the place with the Carbolite, which thankfully, had one of my favorite flavors-MINT! I had mostely mint with a touch of PRALINE-very yummy!

So here I am, all alone in the house for the next hour, and I'm going to make sure I catch up on the posts!!!

CHRIS, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!:D http://members.aol.com/eldemila/welcome_flowers.jpg
Glad you've decided to hop right in and join us. I personally do not buy the Alvarado brand of bread, but from your description it sounds like it falls under the SB GUIDELINES of being OP. There's many problems with the SB BOOK unfortunately. To understand this a bit better you have to know that MICHAEL MONTIGNAC wrote a book about this WOE first and that the SB BOOK was basically copied from MM's book. It's very contradictory in parts and thus there's many questions that get asked over and over again in regards to these parts, as well as generalized questions. See, for instance, you aren't suppose to eat instant oatmeal, yet, the menus in the book put it in there. Another big problem I have with the book is that it says you can have 60% cocoa choc. bars-they don't say how much, how often, or the fact that the idea is to get the sugar detoxed out of your body. So many people thing CHOCOLATE, good and from day 1 they eat this. I didn't have my first piece of chocolate til 2 weeks before I hit my 1yr anniversary of being on SB. Anyhow, there's lots of problems with the book, but overall, the idea is there and you can easily follow this WOE by reading what's in the book and asking LOTS of questions!!! BTW, where in PA are you-MELIRIS is from West Chester, PA.

THUNDER, glad to see your post and to hear the good array of news, DH getting a job, you doing well with the pregnancy! My Sister went through the exact same thing with the gest. diabetes with Bailey. I had it too, with both kids, but thankfully, I never had to do the blood tests as you and her have/had to. Glad to hear you also have a mended computer-hope that means we'll be seeing more of you on the board;)

GRACIOUS, glad to hear you are back down again-good news to hear. Okay girlfriend, what does drinking enough water have to do with fiber? I have to say, the last 3 days (this includes today) I haven't ha a single starchy carb. Haven't a clue why I am doing this, or if it's even making any difference, but this won't last for long, that's for sure-probably hit a starchy carb tomorrow. Sorry to hear about
baa baa-I hope your next post has some better news. What other animals do you have in your menagerie???? Thanks for the explanation of VD!!

JENN, try not to stress out over the wedding plans as you are-not good for you and it sure doesn't help matters at all. This is suppose to be a joyous and happy time for you and if you let this get the best of you this will overshadow this wonderful time of your life. If need be, what's so terrible about getting married locally-you could have more family and friends around you to witness your marriage. I think you could probably still get to Hawaii, as you mentioned. I'd surely be happy to try and help you locate a decent price, if you wish (I love shopping for a good bargain!). I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and if something is meant to be, it will be. If you find you will be getting married in July, just keep following this WOE and exercise best you can and whatever you lose between now and then is an added bonus to getting the man of your dreams, who undoubtedly loves you just the way you are, no matter what. Keep us informed!!!

BETH, WTG on hitting that new milestone - you go girl!!! Keep up the good work on the exercise too, anything is better than nothing.

GLORY, glad you finally got a hold of that Dr. I hate Dr.'s who have no consideration for their patients. Last year I went to the Dr. with a 9am appt and finally walked out at 11:20am when I still hadn't been seen-haven't been back since, though I do need to go - should actually just find a new Dr.! I hope Dayna realizes that pills aren't going to do the job, that she needs to eat, esp. for her since she's a diabetic, as well as exercise. I found an interesting site you may want her to read:

http://wellness.ucdavis.edu/medical_conditions_az/diabetesdiet42.html

Oh, and I have to tell you CONGRATS on your 2lb loss this week-yes, you are definitely back on the right path!!

JACKK, glad to hear DD is doing better, though having to take those shots doesn't sound too appealing. I guess the Dr. knows what's best? Ahh, I see, you had breaded shrimp-hmmm, did that happen to be WW breading? LOL! Just egging you on there. Okay, once in a while a vodka and grapefruit won't kill you, but not 4-you sure don't get my stamp of approval on having that many-don't want those to catch up with you and bite you in the arse, do you?? Do remember this...if you eat a high GI food with a low GI food you will have a moderate GI food rating-so yes, in the future, when you reach goal, say you eat a baked potato with a low GI food, it probably won't effect you as if you ate a BP alone. I personally don't think I'll ever eat another white potato ever again-I've grown to love the sweet ones. Sounds like you do have a busy weekend ahead of you, but you sound like you are going to be well-prepared with your food-good going!

HORSE, don't ***** and moan at me if you lose your post doing it my way-I've lost enough of them. What I try to do from time to time is put a single letter in the SEND TO area and then to save it will hit SEND LATER, that way, if I save it from time to time I don't lose everything should the computer lock up on me or just go off line, which it seems to do more often than I care to remember. I think we should make a date after school gets out, then we both shouldn't have much on our plates to have to contend with. I would LOVE to ride, though I'm sure after so many years I've forgotten even how to get on a horse. I really thought of riding when I was a lot younger, but honestly, I thought I'd break the horses back, as well as the fact, I couldn't find a pair of pants to fit my FA and had to wear moo-moos. Thanks for the offer, I sincerely appreciate it. Where do you ride? How far are you from the FRESH MARKET up there? Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well, LAUREN & ELI are sick as well, hope I don't get it, but seems I usually don't get anything-thankgoodness. Will reply to your e-mail when I get a chance.

BOB, you sick, I mean, I know you're sick, but that's mentally, now physically, geez, one kind of sick isn't enough for you. Your SWEETIE is sick too-hmmm, have you been visiting SB here in Miami recently??? Funny how we went to dinner tonight and your name came up-seems whenever we hit SHORTY'S your name comes up! Tell SKEETER to take good care of you!!!! Thanks for the comment on Bailey's web page-can't wait til you come down and have the chance to meet her. How's YOUR baby doing???

MUSIC, thanks for checking in as well as giving us an update on DM-glad to hear she's doing better and feeling like her ol' self again.

MELF, thanks for the compliments on my niece:) I hope you do have the opportunity to meet up with TRANQUIL & HAPPY. Wish I could make the trek up there to meet you as well, but unfortunately, can't do it at this time - but you know, should you ever want to make a trip a bit more South, I'd love to meet you at any time!! PICTURES, go armed with camera, PLEASE!!!

FROG, I can't only imagine how busy you are doing all these projects with the house. I have visions of BP cracking the whip to keep you going! I'm sure everything once done is going to be absolutely gorgeous and will give you such a sense of accomplishment. Glad to hear your first show went well. Hope the other shows you have planned go even better. Yep, you are a busy camper!!! Can't wait til you're back to normal and back with us as usual-miss ya!

GATOR, thanks for the heads up on that article, will see if I can locate it on line later.

TRANQUIL, hoping to see About A Boy as well, maybe this weekend. Want to see INSOMNIA as well, got decent reviews. I'm sure that popcorn didn't do anything to you, unless you make it a regular event, one night is not going to do it to you, that is, unless you had the mega gargantuan bag all to yourself;)

FRUIT, glad to see your post and to hear you're still doing well. You, not being able to talk for two weeks-yeah, that I have to see!!

NANCE, loved talking to you as well-hate having to hang up but knew that you had just gotten home from work, plus, with me being starving, I didn't want to be munching in your ear;) Are we trying to get up that stain this weekend? GOOD LUCK!!!!

SEF, thanks for the cute comment on the website for my niece, that was so sweet. Sorry to hear about the feet and Arthur-but thrilled to hear you've been OP and doing great-details, details, I want details!!!

TRISH, glad to hear JORDAN passed his one class and crossing my fingers for you that he'll pass the other as well. He swing dances - how cool! Michael loves the music, but would never dance swing, well, maybe with his Grandmother, but not with friends, not that he knows how anyhow. Hope you have fun at the cookout, make the cheesecake, everyone is bound to love it and if there's nothing else there you can eat, then heck, as long as you have that cheesecake, nothing else matters!

TONI, kids out already-wow, that's the earliest I've seen yet! When do they go back (as I would say, "not soon enough!!")

MONET, my 2 cents about the ham, you have time to change the order and his Mother has time to prepare the ham, and if it will make him happy, let him have this one thing, one less thing for you to get. I'm surprised he's upset about ham, no beer, that coming from a guy, I could understand!

JBUG, thanks for posting the link to that story-saved me from having to search long and hard. Can't wait to read it.

Well, that's it for me. Need to go put a chicken in the pressure cooker and ELI needs the computer to do something for work.

I'll check in tomorrow after garage sales-there's very few out there due to the holiday weekend, so I shouldn't be out that long tomorrow.

I hope you all enjoy your long weekend!!!

Hey everyone! Just a quickie to catch you up. My cold still sucks, but that's life...my boys (12 & 13) are gone for the weekend with their dad (#2) so I won't see them until Monday nite ;-(....so I'm home writing my magazine with a 2 and 5 year old (pray for me, will ya?) I had an early MRI this morning, no time to eat and then straight to a sales meeting at 10 and then some cold calls with a girl I'm training, soooooo I didn't eat today until 1:00 pm. I know that's not good, but that's what got me in the shape I'm in today. I forget to eat, and then when I do, even if its not much, I just jiggle . I did try to drink lots of water while I was running around, but it only amounted to about 20 oz. Alright, I'm done *****in'....sorry. I ate great when I finally did eat. Some legal bread with a little Boursin cheese, a salad no dress, snack was small mac apple and dinner was brown rice, black beans, steamed zuchini. That doesn't look like much, but it does look starchy....hmmmm. Opinions?

Still not excercising until I can walk without hacking....I'll try tomorrow. I need to get out from in front of the computer and see the sky. Even cleaning up after the horses would be a nice change instead of Pampers.

DEB - You're doing great with the temptation thing! WTG and hit that SDH of yours when he does that! I actually ate a teeny piece of corn chip today because the bag was open and I was thinking they must have gotten stale so I better check....RIGHT? Well the kids will be glad to know that the chips are still good and I'm glad to know that I didn't even think about nibbling twice. You're a rock, woman! I could never pass up dark chocolate...my weakness. Hang in there with the daughter shopping. I know that it's not always fun, but my best memories with my mom are when we went shopping for the special occasion stuff....parties, new school clothes, etc. She'll love you for it later, and you'll have some silly little things happen that you can laugh about in ten years. I live very close to the Fresh Market in Coral Springs, if that's the one you mean. I'm two miles from the Sawgrass/University exit. Come visit! My horse for newbies is very sweet and very stout, so no worries (even though you're a skinny thing, now, aren't you?) I had a friend who was 300plus take a two hour ride with me one day and the mare was smiling the whole time;-)

JENN - Not being proud of the fact that I've been married three times (two very long stories), let me just say that I'll be married to #3 until we're dead(Put God at the center of your marriage and you'll be in Heaven here on earth, my friend). And the first two were big, fancy weddings, planned to the minute and very costly. Two days after the weddings, I was wishing that I had taken the money. When SCOTT (DH) and I got married, we did it very quietly with close friends and have both been thrilled ever since. I know that if it's your first time, it's probably something you've been dreaming about your whole life, but think about this. You're going to spend months and mega bucks planning something that lasts a few hours. When it's all over with, it's like somebody died. All the stuff you've been living for for months is finished.....done. And then you're just who you were before you started planning, not the center of attention anymore, AND you could have just taken a two week cruise to Hawaii on the money you spent. OK, so maybe I'm being too much of a bummer....You and H2B need to figure out what makes you both happy, and I'll be praying that your day is full of memories that keep you smiling for a lifetime:-)

TRANQUIL - Keep me updated on the movies...I've been wanting to see About a Boy, Insomnia and the Sweetest Thing. The popcorn thing is keeping me home. THAT is a tough one for me to overcome. Living vicariously through your popcorn adventure should keep me sated for awhile. I'm sure you look great, girl!

MONET - Agreement with DEB about the ham. Don't sweat it sweetie. Let future in-law shine on her boy's day and let him have his ham and eat it too! Publix doesn't hold grudges the way family can. I bet she cooks a great ham!

So the Pumpernickel does have the dreaded E word after the wheat flour description, so I'll have to give it to the geese. My kids are bummed that I only buy WW bread now and no more potato. PB&J on that sweet stuff was a dream come true for them. Heading to bed...writing for the next two days. Love you all.......sweeeeeet dreams!
Ciao, Shellie

I hope everyone?s have a great Friday evening. If you?re in the US, it?s the first of three free glorious days.

Ok, I get the point about my name. I?ve officially changed it to ?Mama?.

Well, today we accepted an offer on our house. We?re supposed to close on June 26th. First my DH was stressing over selling the house. Now he?s stressing over the inspection. He called our builder and the builder assures us our new house will definitely be ready in time. I?m keeping my fingers crossed.

The kids and I spent the day at a park socializing with two other homeschooling families. It was only in the 80s, so was a perfect day for being outside.

I had a question about carrots. I?ve been lurking on the Sweetalk board for Sugar Busters, and have read a few posts stating the carrots are legal. The posters stated that the original tests with carrots were flawed somehow. I just finished reading Sugarbusters for Kids with a 1991 copyright date, and it gives carrots a thumbs down. So?.carrots?.legal or not?

CountryMom4Him -- Thanks for the gravy recipe.

Debelli -- Thanks for the heartfelt welcome. I live just outside of Austin.

Thunderwoman62 ? Take care of those little ones. Especially the one in the oven.

Gracious ? I?m still chuckling over your egg story. Hope the new eggs have a healthier future. Here?s hoping the little lamb is better soon.

Beth -- 30 pounds is a major Woooo-Hoooo!

BOB ? Take care of yourself. Hope you?re feeling better soon.

Missy and everyone else whose sick or up for surgery ? I?ll keep you in my prayers.

That's it for tonight. I'll check in tomorrow, Saturday, to see how everyone's doing.

Mama

Hey,everyone! Just peeping in to let u all know I'm still here. Just haven't had much time for posting and reading all the posts between being on 4 heart discussion lists and starting a sugarbuster AOL group. Anyway, I cheated already this weekend! What is the big deal about the weekend- I do so good during the week to just throw it out the window on the weekend:mad: I know that only I can change that.

I have not had a chance all day to post! I feel deprived....

Well the popcorn last night did nothing - I was weighing in at the low I was a few days ago - so the water has passed on or evaporated :) It was delicious, but I am definitely not going to make it a regular habit as I felt just too guilty and worried about it.....

Today at work I had a salad in between slow periods - it was a busy day! Then I took ds and gram to Carrabas for dinner to celebrate ds graduating with good grades from Elementary School - I was SOOOO GOOOD!!! I had salad - never touched the bread or anything not OP!!! I felt good about this willpower that I did NOT have last night :D

So, after we ate, we went for a nice long walk - and this weekend will remain 100% OP - and trying to get in as much walking as possible. Tomorrow eve before sunset I want to take kidlet and hound to the beach and walk!! I miss the beach!!

I am exhausted - so good night - and Happy Memorial Day to All!!!

Beautiful sunny day here to officially start summer. I got my run in early some I'm all done and can relax for today. hope you all have a relaxing, SB legal weekend planned! My step-sister just got her MBA so we are having a party for her tomorrow; half the family eats this way, so it shouldn't be hard to stay legal.

Did anyone see 48 Hours last night? First time I've watched it and boy was I furious! It was about weight loss, and how hopeless it is. The only success stories they told were 1) a woman who took ephedra; 2) a woman who had her stomach stapled and 3) a male model (who was pretty good to look at) who does a pretty tough workout regime and eats squeaky clean. However, they presented him as superhuman, and his nutrition and workouts and something that no "normal" person could do! Excuse ME?!?!?! That's pretty close to what I do and I'm just a normal person, and way older than him, to boot! To be fair, they also presented a story about another woman who took ephedra and died from a stroke to at leat highlight how horrible dangerous the stuff can be, but not once in that show did they say anything about changing the way you eat and exercising! Even the stomach stapling lady was shown happily eating fritos and and peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, saying how happy whe was. Gag me!

Alright, I've ranted enough for one day.

Have a nice weekend, everyone,

mel

Just a quicky!

Well..my two little ones got me sick....sucks! I feel like a Mac truck hit me and left me for dead. Hope I am better by tomorrow...I need to go to church and refuel myself! Chances are I will not be better.

Deb...
You know I started this weight loss thing at about 149 and was hoping to get to 130. 125...that was like an unreachable goal, untill I was losing pretty easy. Well...when I got there, I was happy, but kept losing. I am actually very happy at 119....lets say 120ish. So if I can stay under 125......I would be happy. Fro being 5'7"....I will have to keep working out in order to stay here. I wish I were a rock like you. ;)

Shellie...
I posted you a message....Thanks for your encouraging words. I agree about the wedding. Too much focus goes into that.

Jen....
Why not have a small wedding w/ friends and go to H for a HM? Beach weddings are not all they are cracked up to be...so I hear. Just my 2 cents.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't keep up..... Welcome to all the new folks. I am trying to keep a list of everyone so I know who is who. I don't know how Deb does it. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It is beautiful here in the California desert. We went to my Dad and Moms yesterday to get the stuff they will be using here while their house is being built. Looks like it will be after the first of the year before it will be done. 5 to 6 months.

While we were there we stopped in at one of the local tatoo shops. Ed has many tatoos and has not had a new one for many years. For his birthday this year he wanted an old one covered up with a new design. Soooo... we are going back today to get the new tatoo. Anyone ever been to a tatoo shop? They are very interesting places.

Went to the DR. yesterday morning. I think I have a bladder infection. Well I hate the DR scales. They showed me up 4lbs. Was very bummed about that. But this morning on my scale I was down 1 lbs from WIW. I'll take my scales reading. Not sure about the bladder thing though. The first test doesn't show a strong positive reading so they are doing a culture. I have a cysist (sp) on my overy and perhaps it is it that is causing the problems. Will find ut next week.

Jenn - Don't stress, do what you feel good with. I agree with some of the others. What is the most important to focus on is you and your new hubby and the rest of your life together. Horsechick definately has the right answer. God in the center of the relationship and you can't go wrong.

Deb - How long does it take you to reply to everyone. The speed I read and type I will be here all day. How are you feeling. It sounds like you don't have time to worry about it.

Jack-K Enjoy the hob nobing.

Gatorgal - I agree that this is the way that I will have to eat for ever. I lost on SB two years ago and a year later started eating my old way. the weight came back. I was so bummed. I have lost 9 of those lbs again and I am not doing that again. My dad and mom are moving in with us while their home is being built. It will be very interesting what is brought into the house. We eat SB they do not, or at least not yet. LOL

Toni48 - Hope your DH doesn't float away. My DH used to work night shift at the plant (Kerr McGee) . It was hard to stay quiet and keep everyne else quiet. I'd leave the house some times.

Everyone have a great holiday weekend.

Cyndi :)

Good Saturday Morning!

Thought I'd get in a post this morning before I venture into my closet to clean it out.

Garage sales sucked big time today, hardly any out there and what was had next to nothing. Was disappointing:( Oh well, I guess I have to look at it as saving $$$.

Got on the scale this morning and have to say HAPPY, HAPPY,JOY, JOY! I could just FEEL the difference and shure nuf, I'm at 123 today:spin: Being 100% OP for the past few days has been not only wonderful when it comes to the scale, but the way I feel like my ol' self once again!:D

I forgot to mention this yesterday. When I went to the HFS where I usually buy my AGAVE the guy who orders it for me told me the bottles had an increase of $2.00 each! I was sorta surprised, but then again, I should of heeded the warning that this was going to happen. I still have 3 cases, but wished I would of bought more when the PRICE WAS RIGHT. Not sure if this is going to stay like this-has anyone ordered some recently at a decent price, esp. from SWEET CACTUS FARMS?

HORSE, ELI and you can compare sick notes, he's hacking away! Hope you feel better quick. Did I miss something-what was the MRI for? Hope nothing serious. Only thing I see starchy in what you listed was the brown rice, not to worry, esp. since you basically had no food in your bod! Your corn chip episode made me laugh and remember when I was young and my Mom would make a sandwich for me, there was always a bite taken out of it, she would tell me she had to make sure it wasn't poisoned! LOL! I use to HATE dark chocolate-now, it's the chocolate of choice and it seems a little can easily satisfy ones desire. I'm not touching any of my stash until June 10th though-ELI has it safely hidden in an undisclosed location! Yes, that's the FM I use to go to when I was up that way-they built one in Hollywood that I'll go to when I'm up there now. Skinny thing, not hardly-flabby thing, definitely!!! Going shopping with LAUREN today-wish me luck and a lot of patience. May end up going to Sawgrass if we don't find anything close to home - pray for me!!!!!!!!

MAMA, good luck with not only the sale of your home, but with all the wonder things that go on with buying a new one. You are correct in regards to the carrot issue, they are now saying that they are okay to eat. Do keep in mind that raw has a lower GI than cooked, and as with everything, moderation is the key. If I'm not mistaken, there should be the info posted about this on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD Austin, hmmm, TRISHALOO is from AUSTIN! There's quite a few TEXAS ROSES on this board!! You have COUNTRY, CATLOVER, MUSIC, JRED, PRAVDA & YELLOW ROSE all from your great state, so you are in good company;)

HEART, thanks for checking in - how's BOOGIE??

TRANQUIL, glad to hear you didn't have any ill-effects from the dreaded popcorn, knew you wouldn't. Everyone I've heard that has been to Carabbas loves it. We have one up in Broward, but not in Miami yet. They are owned by the same company as OUTBACK. Maybe one day we'll get to eat there, though we are never up in Broward in the evening and they are only opened for lunch. What do you get when you go there besdies salad? I love ITALIANNI'S, but they closed in Miami location and the only place to find one is now in Orlando.

MEL, poop, I didn't get to see 48 hours last night-darn! I'd probably of vented as well if I saw it. Have fun at the party!!!:)

KIMMY, sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather-hope you recoup quickly. I still can't fathom you weighing less than I do and being over 5 inches taller-you must be a stick-you need to post a recent picture!!

RED1, don't let that nasty scale at the Dr.'s bother you. I won't weigh on any other scale than my own. When I go to the Dr.'s for anything I just tell them my weight, won't step on their metal monsters for nothing. Hope your bladder infection leaves you quickly, those are NOT fun to have. Never have been to a tatoo parlor - do you have a tatoo? I wonder though, people who have them and then as they age and get wrinkled, they must end up looking really weird/bad. Yes, it takes me sometimes HOURS to reply to posts-esp. if I am behind. I need to get on here at least twice a day to get them all in, but that's hard sometimes-I do what I can when I can. It's not easy for everyone to do what I do, so even a general howdy to the board for those who don't have time to post individually is fine, and totally understandable by all. We all know that everyone has lives-though I have to say, much of mine is centered around you all:) BTW, how's DD doing?

Okay, I'm off of here, for now. Have to make a stop at the urination station and then make a salad for lunch-tummy is growling!!!!

Have a wonderful day and a fabulous LONG weekend!!!

HiedieHo All!!!

Nothing great going on just thought I'd try to keep up! And OMG is there a lot to keep up with!!! You are all so prolific!

Yesterday I was a baking fool!! TRISH, don't make the cheesecake unless you have willpower of iron!! Or at least give most of it away!!

I also started out to make banana bread. (We had bananas going brown) (I can't eat them fresh as I have an allergic reaction and my throat swells shut - trach anyone?). I never pay attention to the bananas the family gets. ANYWAY!!...........Had everything measured out, picked up the bananas and they were liquid! Had to change the game plan and went for pumpkin bread, basically that's half a can of pumpkin, what to do with rest? God fordid I toss it!! Easy measure more stuff and make double batch...of something you never made before and don't know you will like!!! Mission accomplished! Came out delicious! But will have to freeze it or I will succumb!! Since I ate some of that I didn't have any starch with my supper. Have to make choices you know!!!

BOB - Hope you are feeling better.

KIMMIE - Hope you are too.

MUSIC - Glad Mom is doing so well.

Welcome to CHRISB, HORSECHICK, HOMESCHOOL! This is a wonderful, caring group of people. You will be a happy addition to our friendship.

GATOR - On the chicken egg laying thing. I always understood that chickens will produce eggs without roosters, just not fertile ones, so they won't hatch. True?

TRISH - Glad Jordan over one hump in school, fingers crossed and good thoughts he get over the next.

GRACIOUS: Poor little lamb! I'm sure you're a good lamb nurse, but some things are beyond us.

MONET: Interesting article on thyroid, thanx for posting it. When I was in my teens my doctor put me on thyroid medication of some kind (I was OW then too) and I climbed the walls and couldn't sleep, had to go off it. My last doctor visit I asked him to check for me on next blood testing. BUt now that I read all those symptoms I don't seem to be a candidate. I tire easily but that is probably due to my other problems. Pain can be tiring!!

JACKK - Can see you inderstand about arthur. When I have a bad spell, some will say well the weather isn't bad. Well, we don't need bad weather, do we? I have been on different meds but Celebrex twice a day seems to work best for me now.

CHRISB - Although I now in LA, I am a PA girl (make that old lady!) where are you from? I lived in Milford, the Gateway to the Poconos. It's right on the Delaware, where NY, NJ and PA meet.

DEB - I think that's a nightmare of many mothers, shopping with daughters. I admire the relationship my DIL and GD have, they love to shop together. I guess I was a lousy mother (my DD makes me feel so) and I am glad that they are so close. When I say I was a lousy mother, my DIL says I couldn't have been so bad as I raised my son too! Your kids sound great, so I surmise that you will bite the bullet, go shop and enjoy it!!!

On the wedding controversies. Let the other mother bake the ham. You know the day is the bride's and sometimes the groom gets lost in the shuffle. Let him have his moment. Publix will survive, family start offs might not! Sometimes noses get out of joint over the simpliest of things.

I wanted a simple home wedding with family and close friends. My mother wanted the works, we had a war....I lost. I always regretted that I didn't have my way. The wedding would be an intimate moment for us to make our vows to one another and in my mercenary ittle heart the money could be put toward things for our home, which would last longer than the ceremony!! And it did!

Okay enough already!!

Take care Shirley

Hello all--It's my Saturday check in to let you know I'm still alive!

Welcome to all the newcomers! It is always good to see new folks dedicating themselves to a healthy WOE.

Speaking of a healthy WOE--I do pretty good until I have to leave the house-then things become dicey. I'm eating all my meals at home today and have planned out a nice SB menu. Only 11 days until the primary!

There is an interesting artice in womens and thyroid problems in this month's MORE magazine. This mag is for women over 40 and I really enjoy it. Thyroid disease runs in my family--but the last test I had showed me at high normal for TSH. Maybe I should have it re-done--but getting the insurance company to pay for the test was a real b***h!

Oh well--I hope everyone has a good week!

Hi everyone,

Just checking in and wanted to wish everyone a good weekend! So far I've managed to stick to my treadmill workouts. Right now I have them planned for every other day so I have time to recover between sessions. I think I'm going to go to one of the local gyms and check into membership. I have been giving serious thought to adding weight training to my workouts. I have been doing fine on the water intake since I have been really focused on that. I'm going to have a BBQ tonight so I'm looking forward to that. I usually have a couple hamburgers w/ melted cheese and a fresh steamed veggie of some kind. I have always loved veggies so this diet is perfect for me in that regard. Well, time to go refill my water glass! :) Take care!

I just got off the phone with my sister. She just found out she has breast cancer. This was rather shocking news, and I am rather upset. She goes on Tuesday for a pre-op exam, where they will discuss her options, and set the date for the surgery. The doctor wants to do it as soon as possible, though he told her it was not an aggressive type of cancer. Those of you who pray, please pray for her, and her three boys especially. Her husband has a drinking problem, and I am sure they are terrified something will happen to her.

FILLISE & SEF: If you are interested in more info on thyroid, and symptoms, check out the thyroid pages on about.com. They have a list of symptoms you can check, and see if you should be concerned about your thyroid hormone levels. Sef, it sounds like you were given too much replacement hormone. When I was a kid, they used to prescribe it for anyone who was overweight. Now the pendulum has swung the other way, and they are overly cautious about giving it to anyone unless they are way over the normal range. I only wish I had gone to med school. It is SO hard to find a doctor who understands thyroids, and is willing to treat the person and not the lab results.

I had intended to answer everyone individually, but after my sister's phone call, I think I need to get off here and do some serious praying, and thinking.

Small brag... my youngest son's T-Ball team just won game 15!! The season is 16 games, and the person with the second best record so far is 14-1, so even if we lose and they win the last one... the records will be 15-1 for both of us with the deciding factor being which of us won the game we both played... Guess who that is :)

We are OFFICIALLY the SEASON CHAMPIONS!!!! Now we have to play a Great Game on Friday to be UNDEFEATED, and then kick some butt during the tournaments to become the TOURNAMENT CHAMPS!!!

WE ARE READY!!!!!! GO CARDINALS!!!!!

My oldest son pitched at his game this morning and did really well!! He played some awesome second base and did some serious baseball smacking with that bat too... I'm so proud of my boys!!!

Off to take a nap... gotta get up and get ready for work at 10pm :(

Good Morning!

Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend. Yesterday I did a side job (I'm a clown!) and made some good $$. It was for the opening of some new model homes that were so beautiful. Just makes you sick...but whose home ever looks like that??? You come home and look at your spread and say ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT!!!! Dan and I went out cause he wanted ICE CREAM...we went to Baskin Robbins and he got a sundae, them I made him drive me to the yogurt shop so I could get SF yogurt with a SF topping. Last night I was not so good....Had steak, potato and corn and squash....bad Nancy. Once a week, usually on Saturdays I allow myself to have something, then get back on track. I usually don't have two illegal things though :s: So far so good today. We're going to get to gether with my Mom for dinner tonight.

Monet...I'm one of those prayer people!! So sorry to hear about your sister's diagnoses. If it is any consulation, working in medical, just know that soooo many patients are diagnosed with breast cancer and are treated and live completely normal lives afterwards....doesn't mean she is at the end of the rope. Things will work out, the most important thing is that it was dectected and something is being done. Prayers coming her way!! {{{HUGS}}}}}

Daramus You sound like a man on a mission! Treadmill I can deal with, Stairstepper....now that's torcher with a capital "T" to me! Instead of paying $$ out to a gym, check and see if your local Parks and Recreations Dept. has a gym...they might...and I only pay $10.00 a YEAR to use the equipment. Of course, if you want to impress some chicks flexing your pecs, get that gym membership NOW! ;)

Red1 Sounds like you have been one busy gal! Hope your parents are doing okay with the transition. My mom and I often talk about moving out of the desert and the thought of getting her packed and out of town gives me heartburn! She's such a pack rat. I have made friends on line with a lady that works at the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce and she is going to be sending me some information. My sister and I are going to try to get up there possibly for the Scandinavian Festival June 15th...if not then...sometime soon! Does your son live in Ferndale or Eureka?

Tranquil Sounds like you have been on track...WTG! Any plans for tomorrow??? My mom bought a slab of pork ribs, and want to make hawaiian chicken, except I'll have to slip the agave nectar in, instead of the alternative! Wish out town had a Memorial Day parade! They have a "Golf Cart Parade"...PLEASE!!!
This is why I need to get out of here! Country Club City! I don't do golf or drink martinis....gotta get away from here!

Gracious What's the report on the sick lamb???? Is he doing better...I hope!

Sef What did you end up making with the other half of the pumpkin? Deb has a recipe posted on the recipe board for pumpkin muffins that I want to try. I have an awesome recipe for pumpkin bread, but it is illegal with a capital "I"....3 cups of sugar...eeeks! Won't be putting that into my mouth anytime soon!
I'm in the mood to bake too this weekend....I'll have to rummage through my recipes and see what I can whip up!

BOB Glad you are starting to become of of the living again.
I can't imagine you NOT getting to those sales...that would go against the grain!

Well, I've got to get breakfast squared away for the fam....check in later!

Let me see....

The roof is finished! They arrived at 6:30 am and left at 10 pm but they got it all done and it looks great! We had a wonderful time of work and fellowship. The ladies came through for me and I had more than enough food. Infact, I froze some for next Saturday when they are to do the garage roof. I gave in and ate some of the fixins'. It was hard not to when we had homemade everything...from bread to casseroles to desserts. I didn't go mental but I certainly ate illegal yet tasty stuff! :moo:

The lamb didn't make it. :( I did everything I could but poor chester died. We came back from church this morning and discovered this sad news. I am sad but happy that he didn't have to suffer any longer. He was such a sweet wee lamb and loved to follow me around the yard. My 3 year old son took it the hardest but the kids seem to be handling it.

My latest eggs are *baking* under a light. I am uncertain of the exact temperature but it is a good experiment for our family. It would be really neat if we hatched them and had 2 lil chicks. One is a leghorn egg and the other is a rhode island red. We will see soon enough, gestation is 21 days and these were laid on May 22.

My daughter had her piano recital this afternoon and she did an awesome job! :smug: Don't you just love watching your kids doing things like that? God is so good to us!

I guess that is it for me. I wanted to check in before we start a new week.

Oh...Monet..I am so sorry to hear about your sister. It is devastating news and I will certainly pray for her and your family as you all cope with this.

Kimmy- Catching the cooties from the kids is a drag because nobody takes care of the moms when we are sick! I hope you get better soon. I hope you didn't have to miss church, I know what an encouragement it is when we gather with other believers.

Nance- You are a clown?? Now why doesn't that surprise me?!

See you tomorrow on the new board!

Good Sunday Evening All:wave:

I am soooo pooped, y'all have no idea! So pooped, I couldn't go exercise today, but honestly, I really had good intentions of going. Why so pooped-my loving son! Last night he went to a play with a friend and the friends mother. Before leaving I told him to leave a number for me, which he didn't. Then, when he called around 10:30pm, Lauren was on the phone and took the message which was "Tell Mom I'm not coming home right away." Well, by midnight, he wasn't home and I was getting a bit pissed/worried-and I was extremely tired. I figured he HAD to be home soon, so off to bed I went-got in about 45 minutes and woke up at midnight to find him still not home. Stayed up til almost 2am waiting and trying to search for a way to find a number for this kid. Called Michael's Dad to see if maybe he had a number, no dice. Woke Lauren up to ask her EXACTLY what did he say-she says he said he wasn't coming how right away and then said he wasn't coming home. Well, I figured this must mean he's sleeping at his friends, which would of been fine if he had asked my permission-which he didn't. Finally went to sleep. Woke up this morning to find him in bed-happy of course, but woke him up to tell him how pissed off I was and why. I blame not only Michael for not being more responsible to call me as he's NEVER come home after midnight before and never left me hanging as he did AND I blame the mother for being so irresponsible to keep someone's kid out til the wee hours and not insisting the child call his mother. Honestly, I wonder where some parent's have their brains!!!!

Well, here's the saga of finding Lauren a formal dress (which mind you, I don't agree with this at all -8th graders don't need a formal dance!). We went to 2 malls yesterday (def. exercise) and she liked this one dress from JCPenneys that was marked down, extra 10% and got my 20% discount - still came out to almost $80. Mind you, it was tight on her and I told her that she may bust the seams out! Today, we went to Sawgrass Mills and she found a different dress that fit her a lot better AND was not only marked down, but had an extra 70% off! It cost less than $30 with tax!!!! It does need a tiny alteration, but heck, not more than $10 worth, and in all desperation, I could probably do it. She's happier with this one - and so am I!!! Now that she changed, we don't have to buy shoes to match, she has some!!

After lunch (yes, OLE OLE) we went to WHOLE FOODS, figured I'd pick up a few more bottles of agave - not a single one on the shelf! Wondering if this is going to be the way it is now that the price seems to have skyrocketed!

Another wonderful eating day today - scale is still at 123 - I'm a happy camper!!!

Anyhow, forgive me for not replying to those who posted since my last reply if you directed anything towards me. I am going to get undressed, throw on my nightie and go watch a little TV before hitting the bed really early tonight. Hoping to get up at a decent hour tomorrow and get in some exercise.

I'll start the new weekly board tomorrow morning, though if I don't get up early, may be started a little later than usual - don't fret, I'll get it done;) Remember. tomorrow is MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY so if you have any words of wisdom, stories, quotes that you'd like to share, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Enjoy your Memorial Day tomorrow!

I just started SB today. Tomorrow wil be the real challenge. I had my son 7 months ago and I am at an all-time high for my weight. I need to lose a lot, for my health as well as my confidence. I have PCOS and someone said SB would be a good diet for me. What brands of bread and pasta are ok? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I really want to stick with SB. Thanks.:?:
