Good morning, and TGIF! :)

My weekend starts today, and I plan on staying in my jammies for as long as I can today and enjoying my "me" day. I did shower and scrubbed the bathroom, and I have a basket of laundry ready to toss in the washer, so I'm not going to feel the least bit guilty of not getting dressed yet. Heck, I may even indulge in a nap! :cloud9:

Zeff, that's a shame that your landlord gave you notice, but it looks like you've already found something much better. Good luck!

Barb, I'm so glad that your divorce settlement is going to be resolved soon so you can get on with your life.

Good mornings gals :coffee2:

Cottage - It's 6:42 - it's too early to feel guilty about net being dressed! ;) I hope you thoroughly enjoy your well deserved me day.

Zeff :crossed: I hope this all turns out to be for the best.

I'm off to work soon. Should be a relatively easy day. I'm visiting a new provider this morning, always a fun time :) Then this afternoon I will be watching the clock because I'm meeting my work mates at the Brew Pub. The three of us have worked together on and off for 7 years and have developed a semi-regular night out thing. This time partners are included so less work talk is allowed ;) That varies depending on our mood.

I'm not sure what the weekend plans are but I'm sure we will spend a day off birding somewhere. The weather is supposed to be relatively warm and sunny so can't let that slip by :)

Good morning all! Cottage, I've had a few "do nothing" days and today I'm determined to get off my fat butt and do something! Enjoy your relaxation.

Zeph, you'll find something better!

Barb, sorry about the messy divorce.... hugs.

Me: My weekly visitor came last night, but to both our surprise I'm without hot water in the bathroom again! ARGH... and I sure do need my daily shower!

We enjoyed a game of scrabble last night. Today he'll be heading out with a friend of ours to go skiing. I'll be picking him up later today or tomorrow to go shopping. His roommates car is broke down so they need a ride.

Me: Frustrated, Remember last week I weighed in at 169? Well, this am I'm 179. I'm hoping it's because of Aunt Flow! This is so frustrating!

OK, off to plan menu for the week.

Enjoy your day!

Cottage - thanks :) Stay in those jammies, girl! Those are the best kind of days. Hope you get that nap!

Cyndi - enjoy your day!

Lori - that is frustrating. If it makes you feel any better, it isn't uncommon for my weight to fluctuate 7-10 lbs. in a single day...I hate our bodies sometimes!
-
MIL is taking DS1 this morning for a few hours...I'm hoping to get some housework done but I may just end up taking an extended nap. ;)

Happy "Jammie Day", Cottage. I'm sure you deserve it. Now turn off the guilt machine!

Cyndi, Brew Pub sounds great from my perspective today. If I left now.......

Lori, the scale has a mind of its own. I wish I had Aunt Flo to blame for today's scale reading!

Zeph, I have a voodoo doll in the works right now for that old landlord. The new place sounds great. My fingers and boobs are crossed for you.

Fluffy bit of white stuff are floating down right now - very pretty in December but not really needed right now. Tomorrow we are to get above normal temperatures for a change. It's going up to 7ºC/45ºF with some rain which will knock down the snow a bit. I might get the garlands and lights off the front porch!

Happy TGIF, Beachies!

Ruth -- You made me laugh out loud! I could cross my boobs for Zeff, too! As my mom says, we are 38 Longs. :D

Zeff -- Keep us informed!

Loriann -- I hate the scale, too!

Cottage -- There is nothing better than a nap. My 5 year old has almost quit taking them. Makes me sad.

Cyndi -- Have fun at the pub!

Me -- Auston doesn't have school on Fridays (he's in 4K). I'm thinking we need to do something today. This week, I've been home way too much. It's time to blow off the stink!

Enjoy those jammies cottage - are they red? Everybody got their red on today? I am representing for my friend with the heart problem. Although I never wear red so I had to borrow a sweatshirt from DH. Not too stylish, but it IS red.

zeff, you found something already? Wow, you make things happen chick!

After today's chill we will have a nice warm up for the weekend and I'm really looking forward to that. AND today's Friday and possible the start of a week mostly off for me, :carrot:.
I am not feeling too great though. After my cold a couple of weeks ago, I never have gotten rid of the cough, and I'm so tired and short of breath. Last night my chest was hurting, so I am thinking pneumonia maybe? If so, it's viral, so nothing to do about it anyway but take it easy and drink lots of water, which I have been doing (well, the water part anyway).
Loriann, don't worry, it is surely Aunt Flo causing you problems.
Drink a pint at the pub for me cyndi.
Ruth, I would like to place an order for a few of those voodoo dolls.

I'm off to put in a load of laundry and put the lentil peanut stew in the crock pot before I walk DD to school. I expect today will be a busy work day as my govt customers probably won't have access to me next week. It's illegal to even send an email or speak with them on the phone if we are not under contract. Awkward. Have a great Friday chicks!

ETA: Good morning chelby!

Schmoodle -- I was sick with a cold that wouldn't leave in July. I finally went to the doctor. I had bronchitis and a sinus infection. After a shot in the behind and 10 days of antibiotics, I was much better. It might be worth a trip to the doctor. Feel better! :)

Cyndi, sounds like a fun evening.

Zeff, hope this new place works out for you.

Lori, hope you get hot water.

Ruth, enjoy your warm day.

Chelby, thanks for the recipe.

Smoodle, take care of yourself.

Me..I'm going shopping today. We have a *girls only* trip planned in March for Vegas. It's suppose to get up to 60 today and expecting a warm up for the next week in the 60's, so I'm happy. Went to Olive Garden yesterday and had the breadsticks. I'm bad.

Have a great day.

Thanks for reminding me to wear red today, Schmoodle. I'm getting dressed to go to the store as soon as the last load of laundry is done, and I'll make sure I wear red.

I just can't sit still too long. My mind is racing with things I could be doing instead of wasting time. :dizzy: I do need to pick up a few groceries, and while I'm out I should probably stop by for a visit with my parents. I may get around to baking a batch of Nessa Bars later, too.

Good morning all!!! Happy Friday!
I was a lazy bum this morning and did not get up and exercise, and now I'm finding that I'm running late. So I apologize that there are no personals today.

Should be a quiet day at school, when it rains it seems to calm some of the students. We have end of the semester assemblies this morning and an early dismissal this afternoon. Then after school I'm headed to my friends to cook her dinner for her bday. She wants Swedish Meatballs, so I'm working on a way to make them friendly for me to eat as well. I know a big salad will be on the menu tonight as well. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
Alrighty, I must get going, as it's raining which makes traffic a bear!
Have a good one, I'll try to check in later!!!
BLESSINGS!

Cottage: Well, your "jammie" day didn't last long, did it? Or are you wearing your red jammies to the store? I hope you enjoy your day off!

Cyndi: It's been really warm here and it's making DH and I itch to get out on a hiking trip. I hope you have a fun time at the pub...wish we could join you!

Lori: Sorry about the scale, but it can make some crazy fluctuations. DH once told me that my weight could fluctuate as much as 2 lbs. a day...I almost slapped him. I hope you have a nice, productive day!

Zeffryn: Sending prayers about the prospective rent house up for you and the family. I hope you're getting a nice, looong nap!

Ruth: Holy cow! More snow?! At least it is "warming" up for you tomorrow! I hope you have a great Friday!

Chelby: Yes, indeed! Get out and do something! You'll both enjoy the break, I'm sure!

Schmoodle: I'm sorry you're still feeling so rough. That is awkward about your job/correspondence, but I guess it does make some sense.

SkinnyBride: The doggie wears are SO cute! What a fun business venture to be involved in!

Pam: Mmmmmm...Olive Garden breadsticks. DH and I are going to the "big city" next weekend and that's where we'll be having our Valentine's dinner. I'll probably avoid 3FC for the following week out of shame.

Stephanie: Sorry you're having to force a closing; that has to add up to a lot of stress for you! I'm sure you'll enjoy tomorrow and I hope DD has a great time at Homecoming!

LC:  It's nice to see you back, even if it's just briefly! I hope the kiddos' colds are gone soon and you can have days that are, once again, just filled with tears and poop.

, Gonna!

Heather: Don't worry, we forgive you! ;) That's exactly how I felt yesterday! I hope you have a nice end-of-semester day. I would love a nice, long downpour right now! Enjoy your dinner with your friend!

Me: DH surprised me with an early Valentine's present last night. (He was out of the county doing field work and got to go to a Wal Mart!!) He bought me a new game for our Wii. I had plans in my head AND on paper of what I wanted to get done last night and it all fell through. Thankfully, the house wasn't just falling apart and it's all things that will wait until tonight.

It's DH's night with the Wii, so I'll be cleaning up a bit, which isn't going to be too big a task, and I also want to work on some crafts for a swap I'm in.

Well, TGIF, indeed! Time to really get to work!

Cottage, tell me about your Nessa Bars. I made the basic recipe yesterday with applesauce and pecans and about 1/4 cup of Splenda. They were unexciting, to say the least. DH and DS said "YUCK!"

Happy Friday
Cottage - enjoy your long weekend. Just do what you want to.
Cyndi - Have fun, we love to visit Brew Pubs.
Ruth - I bet you can't wait till Delta's famous Maple Syrup Festival.
Chelby - enjoy your day with your little guy. They grow so fast.
Scmoodles - take care of that cough.
Skinnybride - have fun making your doggie wear. People love to dress up their pets.
Pam - Vegas, good for you. Its suffering right now.
Stephanie - thats a hard thing to do but a job is a job.
Little Chick - you are so busy with those little one.
Heather - nice of you to cook for your friend, it will make a nice birthday for her.
Zeff - Sounds like things are going to work out. Do you think its the tenant downstairs complaining that you walk after 6pm.
Kim - enjoy your Wii
Gonnabee - thinking of you.

me - quiet weekend. I still feel very tired after that cold. Its suppose to rain here tomorrow so it should remove lots of the snow.

Sophie - I believe that has a lot to do with it. The tenants moved out because of it. I also think that he considered us annoying because we kept bugging him to fix things that were really wrong with the place -- not just small things either, a wall was buckling (that I didn't notice when we moved in), the roof leaked like crazy when it rained (he put a clamp on and just hoped it wouldn't leak -- what the!? We live in southern louisiana...if there is a way to leak, it will!), mold started appearing in the bedrooms because of this leak, floor tiles were coming up...the list was endless. I'm sure he's interested in finding some trashy couple that doesn't care. Unfortunately, he doesn't appreciate a couple who improves the place (we painted and DH and my Dad refinished portions of the floor), keeps it clean and pest free and pays the rent on time.

ugh. I just wish DH was finished with law school. The good news is that our savings is starting to really add up and we should have a 25% down payment in a year.

Hmmm, that's strange Chelby, what was it about the bars that you guys didn't like? My family can be pretty picky about what they consider my "diet food", but DH and DS both loooove the Nessa bars, I have to hide them so I get some. And I don't make them too often because I will eat them all at once.
Our favorite combos are:
pumpkin in place of the applesauce, with pecans, and pumpkin pie spices;
bananas in place of the as, with walnuts, and I use some banana sugar free syrup for the sweetener, mmm banana bread;
dried unsweetened cherries and toasted almonds. sometimes with a few chocolate chips mixed in.

ETA: I do not want a shot in the behind, they hurt!

ETA2: Heather I made Swedish-y meatballs a couple of weeks ago and they were really yummy. I meant to write down what I did, but I'm not sure if I did or not, I'll check. I do remember I used turkey with an envelope of onion soup mixed in. I think the sauce was sauteed mushrooms, deglazed with a little white wine, some chicken broth and arrowroot powder for thickener, some sour cream stirred in at the end..

cottagebythesea
02-06-2009, 12:27 PM
Chelby, I pretty much make the same variations as Schmoodle, except that I never use banana in them, as I'm not a big fan of bananas. I especially like them with a big spoonful of peanut butter mixed in, some added chopped nuts, and SF DaVinci peanut butter syrup.

I hope you start feeling better, Schmoodle. I had a cold with a cough at the beginning of winter that hung on for almost 8 weeks. I never did go to the Dr. for it, but if you are feeling that bad, maybe you should make an appointment.

Kim, I changed into a red t-shirt with jeans. No jammies at the grocery store, I won't even wear those pants that look like pajama bottoms that are so popular. Your DH was so sweet to think of buying you a new game for your Wii. :)

Sophie, I find that colds are very draining to me, too. Just try to take it easy until your energy comes back, and enjoy the rain instead of snow. It's going be a mild weekend here, too.

GONNA, how is the adoption process going, and how is your baby doing now?

I guess a lot of people have off today, the grocery store was packed. But they had both blueberries and blackberries at a really decent price, so I stocked up on them. Yum, fresh blackberries in my oatmeal tomorrow!

Chelby29
02-06-2009, 12:53 PM
I'll retry the Nessa bars. Mine were just very plain. Maybe I was expecting an oatmeal cookie? Next time I'll try peanutbutter. I need to get some of those yummy sounding syrups.

Schmoodle -- Maybe they'll give you a sticker after your shot. :D

TGIF! It is supposed to get close to 50* today! I can't believe it!
My brother called and wants to take us out for dinner, to Chuckie Cheese! He usually comes here with his kids on Friday nights, he said he is "cooking" tonight and treating us to dinner and tokens, what a nice guy!
Let me tell you about my exciting afternoon yesterday. My face is still red with embarassment.
So I was cleaning the house and the smoke alarms started going off. This has been happening a lot lately. The heat from the house is getting into the attic, and the condensation is making the alarms short out. Out of no where they will go off. We have tried adding extra insulation in the attic, changed the alarms, etc. So yesterday, I start going around taking the batteries like I always do. (They are all wired together, so if one goes off, every one in the house goes off. ANNOYING in cases like this!) But yesterday I can't get them to stop, so I have to take the entire unit down. From everyone in the house. I have had enough of this! So I decide to call the non-emergency fire dept number for advice on how to fix this once and for all. The gal that answers is really nice, says, let one of the firemen come by and look at them and tell you how to fix this. She takes my name, address and phone. I said like one hundred times, this isn't an emergency, you don't have to come by. SHe said, no lights, no sirens, just one of the guys to check it out for you. I said OK. Well, 5 minutes later fire trucks with blaring lights and sirens, an ambulance parked in my neighbors driveway... quite a sight!! They come to the door in full gear, with axes in hand. I said you have to be kidding me. I called for advice, you were supposed to come in an SUV!! They kind of smiled (you could tell they would annoyed!) and said they hired a HS student to answer the calls (to save money) and she jumped the gun.... didn't tell them about it, just put it in as a 911 call!!! WHAT?!?!? They were nice, they looked them over, offered advice, said they would call me with more options on how to fix this. But I was completely embarassed! The entire block was out looking!! I am still red....nice Thursday afternoon, huh?

ETA: Zeff - I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Sounds like a very promising place!

any excuse to look at Fireman butt, eh Jenn?

;)

Still no word....our identity theft issues from a year ago are proving to be an obstacle here. I just keep praying that God will show us his plan for this..if it isn't right, to let us know and help us find where we are supposed to be.

I have this feeling in my heart that this is the place for us, but who knows. I ignored my gut feeling when we moved into the place that we are now...

Good evening chicks!

Most of the time, things have been too crazy to write personals in the morning...I read most mornings, just no time to respond!

GonnaB - news on anything?
Zeff - Wow. I hope the new place works out, or something even better! And almost having a down payment while he's in law school...that's awesome!
Jenski - tee hee hee!! I remember smoke from a frozen chicken breast or something setting our alarm off ... which was tied in to the fire dept... they stopped a block away when I finally remembered the password!
Kim - you've been doing so awesome lately!!!

me - eh. Been a so-so week. Nothing great, nothing bad....therefore, could be a lot worse, right!?? It's been three weeks since we made an offer, our contract gives them two more weeks...hopefully we'll hear soon (which will give time for interest rates to go back down!). I'm getting very eager to get out of here!

I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow (HA! Like that happens anymore??!!), and having a relaxing weekend. Hope you guys have one too!

It got to 65* here today. I sat by the basement door, which is in direct sunlight and blocked from the wind, and toasted myself for about 30 minutes this afternoon. It was glorious! It's supposed to be 70* by Sunday. Bring on the Coppertone! :)

It's so nice down here, isn't it Chel? I love it this time of year.

Girls, the faux blizzards are freakin' good. DH and I love them. We've been making all kinds of odd concoctions. Tonight we made a cookies and cream one with sugar free cookies and cream pudding, 2 cups of milk and ice. Topped with a little redi-whip. It was awesome.
