Don't know about you lot, but it is February 2009 from where I stand. Time for a new thread.
What are you aiming for in February? How much weight loss? Will we get Mel back or is she basking in the sunshine from her window? Will Carla ever come back? Will CeeJay get rid of the flu? Will Ruth get out from under the never ending snow?
Many questions for Feb - are there any answers out there?
02-01-2009, 01:32 AM
In the immortal words of Harry Carey (famous Cubs baseball annoucer) Holy :moo:
Can we be in a new month ALREADY? :faint: Where is the time going?
Thank you Shad for setting up the new thread - it's 33 minutes to February from where I sit - good 'nuff for me to roll along.
I have no answers to your questions though I do hope to hear from the missing.
What am I aiming for in February - 4 pounds of weight loss. I know it sounds pitiful but the weight is stuck like super glue. My goal as the new year rolled in was for 1 pound per week. That's still 52 pounds at the end of the year. Nothing to poo poo in the long run. If I go slow, I can manage to keep it off. 3 pounds or more, I see saw. Last month I got back on the WW bandwagon and incorporated mindful eating. This month I pledge to journal my points and add exercise in this month.
And I did make my January goal :yay:
How about everyone else?

Good Sunday morning ladies...
Today me and the baby boy and girl are visiting my momma and dad (grands for the kids) then we are going to visit their babysitter they had from the time they were 6 wks till kindergarden. She and her family (Weslyn religion) sure made a big impact on my children as far as their morals and kindness. Made up for the scum standards their dad had/has.
Patty...hope they find out what is going on with you. Hope things come out ok.
Ceejay...glad the power is back on... I, too, am on Facebook. I love it. I have reconnnected with a friend I went to school with in the 5th grade in Iowa. Look me up...Anne Shrontz Carpenter....
Rennie...don't blame you on the face cloth in public, not a bad idea, I am beginning to think I need to wear one in the office too. My nose has ran steady since about November. Real tired of blowing it and keeping the tissue companies in business, don't hear of them laying anyone off as I independently support them. lol
Happy...I can't imagine raising 8 at once. 1 at a time takes a village, 8 will take the entire country and our tax dollars and support, I am sure. What a nut she is....Hope they don't turn out to be a bunch of yahoos.
Micelle...have fun at the Pet Expo. DD and I went to Pet Supplies Plus to get Hella Bella's dog food yesterday. They had too cute doggies up for adoption/rescue. If Hella wasn't such a twit, I would of gotten another dog yesterday. The super bowl is on WAY too late for me. I will probably only watch the first half. I do like the commercials best tho. Probably watch halftime then go to bed.
Shad...how's it hangin? hehe Mine is always hanging. lol
MEL..hope your peepers are all better now, we miss you on here!
Hidee Ho to all you lovely women!
Have a great Sunday.
Love and Hugs

Oopps, sorry Michelle, forgot your H in your name.
02-01-2009, 10:55 AM
Just saying hi yah  Gotta get dressed and get groceries fast. We have an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. Then come home, plan meals and clean up.
Supposed to be very nice this afternoon. Might get my Vitamin D in sunshine form today instead of a pill.
Then it might snow tonight. Geez :faint:
Later chicks... Happy February - the month I always wondered 1) will winter EVER end and 2) will I EVER be warm again. Not to brag but I don't have that problem down here except for maybe 3 days
02-01-2009, 11:26 AM
SHAD....I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW HAPPY I AM THERE IS A NEW THREAD! I AM SO GLAD TO BE SHOT OF JANUARY!!!! :encore:
HAPPY....GOOD LIUCK WITH YOUR WEIGHTLOSS:hug:
MY GOAL THIS MONTH IS TO LISTEN TO THE DOCTOR!
ONE EYE IS STILL GIVING ME A BAD TIME OF IT AND THE SKIN IS TAKING FOREVER TO HEAL AND I LOOK AFRIGHT!! THE DR SAID TO HAVE PATIENCE BECAUSE YEARS OF SELF NEGLECT HAS TAKEN IT'S TOLL AND IT COULD TAKE A FEW WEEKS OF DOING, THINKING AND WORRYING ABOUT NOTHING TO HEAL 100%. HOPE TO BE BACK WITH YOU SOON. JEN IS AWAY SO I HAVE NO READER!!!
LOVE TO ALL
02-01-2009, 03:09 PM
So glad to see you back. Do as the doctor says and take care of yourself.
I'm tempted to get outside and do a little yard work. It's a beautiful day.
I'm going to take better care of myself this month and knock this stuff that's lingering around inside my body out to the curb. I'm tired of it. My plan of action for weight loss is to follow the guidelines that weight watchers on line set up for me and exercise at least 30 minutes per day. If I lose weight I'm happy if not I'll be happy with the inches if any. That reminds me I need to update those.
I saw you on the other thread. So glad you are feeling better.
Keep us informed.
02-01-2009, 03:11 PM
Checking in and trying hard not to moan about snow and cold. Actually we are above freezing just for today and then back into crud!
My weightloss in January was a pitiful single pound by the end of the month although I blipped up and down a lot and actually lost seven pounds and gained back six. I spent way too much time online, particularly getting sucked into Facebook. I did manage to kill a lot of Spammers which made me feel great. One jerk kept posting in Chinese!
Despite some "digestive issues" - love that term! - I'm feeling pretty perky about life once again. I'm going back to doing pet therapy at the nursing home again after giving it a rest after Harry's death. Disney has been visiting the Clinic with me and Jazz has made a few appearances. (Did I mention that he's adorable?) I've signed on with Bark Busters for some at home one-on-one training and it's already making a difference in both of them....and in me too.
So...tomorrow the Groundhog pops out and we'll find out how much more winter we'll have. Last year my front flower bed was still under snow in April but I'm hoping for an improvement this year. I have my seeds already and am planning to clean up my growing table and lights and get some plants started early - sage, tomatillos and some perennials. I would not have been able to do that the past two years because the damned knee kept me from gong down to the cellar. Hmmm...quite a lot of tidying needed down there.
May February be healthier than January in every way!
02-01-2009, 04:55 PM
Ruth, I never worked out what Groundhog Day was about anyway. Never featured over here. Do we have groundhogs - I suspect not. Does the groundhog dictate when you can have Spring??
Glad to hear that you are going back to the Paws Therapy stuff again. Hope the residents don't think Jazz is a bit of fluff on the floor!!! Have fun with the bark busters.
Happy - I would be happy with 4lbs as well, but I'd like 4kgs. So I will aim for one and hope for the other if I miss the first. Yes winter will end. We are seeing the sun rising later and moving towards due East now. You will start seeing it shortly I have now doubt. Spring is closing fast. Well in our case it is Autumn
Mel - good to see you back. But do not over do it. Okay.
Ceejay - good goals. It would be nice to see all the chicks well again this month. You've had a hard time over there this winter. However the normal spring thaw may pose you lot some more problems - so don't let up on the home vigilance yet.
Hi to Annie as well - she posted on the old thread. I didn't put in the links - silly me, rushing it again.
So you lot have Superbowl action today, and we have heatwaves and fires in the south of the country, cyclone Ellie in the north causing rain, flooding, wind havoc in the tropics.
I think I will stay right where I am. We are not getting the heat, but we do have the humidity, we are not getting the rain at the moment, we are not getting fires either. Mother Nature sure is going about her business with a large broom over here.
Today I have a fair amount to get through so I guess I should get on with it. I will be back later in the day.
02-01-2009, 06:39 PM
I just moved today's posts from the old thread into this one. All is now in order.
(I am so frassing anal sometimes!)
02-02-2009, 11:34 AM
Good morning ladies,
Today's weigh in saw a number I haven't seen since December of 2007 (which is where my WW weight tracking log started). So :yay: for little things. Just have to be careful not to get too cocky. This was also after pizza yesterday (thin crust cheese and veggie - no meat) and a small serving of Super Bowl nachos. I did not watch the game because I don't much care about football. I did pick up some books for DH and got one for myself. Confessions of A Shopaholic. Geez - I see my former self in that book. It's scary.
Went to the eye doctor. DH has cataracts. One more pronounced than the other. He's been complaining about his glasses for a while now. Doc said after he gets the one removed he will have 20/20 vision and will not need glasses at all. The thing is, the cataracts came from STEROIDS! :yikes: With his back, he's been on them occasionally. That's pretty scary. He was referred to an opthamologist who will be calling him to set up a consult.
Yesterday was a gorgeous spring day. The birds are all singing their spring songs and the dead gumballs are falling out of the trees clunking along and making it hazardous to walk. Last night I was putting some things away in the garage refrigerator. It was quite late, DH was asleep and it was raining. I kept hearing creepy noises and I was getting quite nervous, like someone was in the yard. I guess it was the sound of the dumb gumballs falling from the trees. I still finished up quick and ran inside and locked the door!
Shad - I saw a small bit on the weather channel about the terrible heat out your way. It's a good thing you got some rain to wet things down a bit. So scary when you have fires and such. Regarding groundhog day - I guess it's just a tradition I remember from childhood -
According to German superstition, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early.
It was just fun to see the groundhog. I don't think any of us ever paid attention as to whether this "prediction" was ever right.
Ruth - I second the healthier February wish. Can completely understand the yo yo scale movement too. Sometimes we have to chuck the scale and just focus on more mindful eating and making better choices. Glad to hear you're back in pet therapy again - good for the residents.
Ceejay - did you get outside? Wasn't it nice? Hard to believe there was an ice storm a few days earlier. What screwy weather :dizzy:
Mel - glad to hear you are feeling better. I guess your experience is a lesson learned not to ignore things we should be taking care of. Pity that Jen won't be able to help you stay in touch. We will just patiently await your return!
Annie - several people have invited me to Facebook and such. That's all I need - more distractions on the computer  I have politely declined. Hope you had a good weekend with Tony and the kids.
Did you have a good Super Bowl viewing Michelle?
Time for me to go get busy. Have a good one ladies
02-02-2009, 01:49 PM
Hello and Happy Fabulous February of Feeling Fine Ladies..........
This weekend just about wore me out. Cooked more this weekend than I did all month of January. The DS always wants momma's home cooking when he is home. Stayed up playing cards and such till the wee hours of the morning both Friday and Saturday night. Visited all day with mom, then the babysitter, I was exhausted last night when the kids left. Only watched the superbowl till halftime, wanted to see Bruce Springstein. Then passed out and went to sleep.
Happy, congrats on the weight! Sorry to hear about DHs cateracts. Both of my parents and grandparents with through that. All came out fine!
Sheesh Shad...you are having all kinds of weather down there. Yikes! We are just dealing with the cold, snow and ice. Stay safe.
MEL...Good to see you back. Hope you get the rest of you healthy.
Michelle....I found us!!
Hello to everyone,
Love and hugs
02-02-2009, 02:21 PM
just popping in to say hello. I'm behind 6 day's and it's the end of the month reports. Guess that's what I get for being sick one day. It usually isn't this bad but due to the power outages they've ran different wells which makes it a bit more complicated for soil conservation.
no i didn't get outside. The air was to cold for my lungs. I still have some congestion. It's a whole lot better.
I will invite you as my friend in Facebook. You do get sucked into it at times. This is an easy way for me to keep up with the nephews and nieces.
02-02-2009, 02:27 PM
A great Groundhog Day to everyone -
The cute little Punxsutawney Phil says there's going to be 6 more weeks of winter. Well, I'd be thrilled if there were only 6 more weeks of winter...usually winter lasts here until at least early to mid-April. So hopefully Phil is correct. I had a great weekend. DH and I went to the pet expo on Saturday. I got to pet and hold lots of adorable dogs, kitties, lizards and snakes. And we watched some fun doggie races and agility demonstrations. On Sunday, I got most of the Christmas stuff put away until my back gave out. My back didn't like all the walking at the expo, and it really didn't like packing Christmas stuff away. So I spent Sunday afternoon relaxing. I may choose to go to PT for my back. I'll try that before I request another steroid shot. I've got to get my back better before spring - lots of fishing, walking, hiking and biking to do! We really enjoyed watching the Super Bowl! What an exciting and close game! And Bruce Springsteen gave an outstanding performance at halftime.
Happy - Congrats on the excellent weigh in!! Wooo hoooo!! I'm going to join you in aiming for 4 lbs of weight loss for this month of February and exercising for 30 minutes at least 3 days per week (preferably 4 or 5 days per week). I guess that means I'd better get on the scale and see what my starting weight is. I am wondering if winter will ever end and if I'll ever be warm again. But it's supposed to get up to maybe 40 by the end of the week! Woooo Hoooo!! So sorry to hear that DH has cataracts, but I'm glad that it can be easily treated with surgery. That's a good reminder to me that with all the steroids I've taken (especially lately), I should probably get my eyes examined this year.
Annie - Glad you had a nice time with your kids. How nice that you took them to visit your parents and their former babysitter. I, too, am on Facebook (Michelle Zancanaro - and I sent you a Friend Request). I've connected with lots of old friends and former co-workers. I got a great laugh at your "mine is always hanging" comment....mine are always hanging too.
Patty - I hope everything comes out okay and that they figure out what's going on.
Mel - Glad you're back. Definitely listen to the doctor so you can get better. Your health is more important than anything.
Rennie - I'm glad you're feeling better. You're very smart to wear a cloth over your face to help filter out the germs.
Ruth - Glad to hear you're doing well (other than digestive issues) and that you're getting back into pet therapy! Good for you for getting an early start on gardening. I've still got to purchase my seeds and then get them planted in starter peat pots. Isn't it nice to think about gardening...makes one feel warmer and almost forget that there's still snow on the ground.
Shad - I'm glad to hear that you are spared the heat, flooding and fires. Good for you on your goal to lose 4kg!
Ceejay - It's rough when you've been off work and have to come back and play catch up. Hang in there. I'm on Facebook too. Send me a friend request (Michelle Zancanaro) if you want to.
Well, I'd better get back to it!
I hope everyone is having a great Monday.
Love and hugs,
02-02-2009, 02:38 PM
Yeah Michelle....a LOT of mine is ALWAYS hanging.....iI am in need of a b*tt, b**b, belly, and arm job!@!! Not that they are very bad, just enough to be noticeable. I am not vain enough to go into debt for it, however if I should hit the lottery or get a HUGE inheritance (unlikely), I will have it done! Basically, what you see is what you get!
02-02-2009, 04:28 PM
Ummmm, not to be a killjoy, but I'm not at all sure we should be bandying real names around here. As a former credit control person, I can assure you that thanks to the Big Brother syndrome, given a name and a location (on your avatar) I can find a large amount of information about a person that maybe they may not wish me to know! So might I suggest that you use the PM section for that information.
Annie, I did request connection to you on facebook, but didn't say who I was.
The weather - aaah yes the extremes of weather on this continent. The weather in the north is normal. It's monsoonal. That doesn't make the cyclones any less frightening and dangerous. Like hurricanes they roar in and destruct and demolish. But 'big wet' is normal. How else would we get the beautiful rain forests and mangrove areas and swamps and marshes that nurture the fish and reptiles in those areas. Areas flood, they have done for millenia, and always will. It's man that has altered the status quo with his quest for building on beaches, or building in places have had problems in the past like slipping hillsides etc. There is rarely a problem with the monsoonal rains and floods in the Northern Territory - why, because few people live in the flood plains. Darwin rarely gets flooded out and was only brought to its knees by war or cyclone. Houses are mostly built on stilts to cope with the rising tides and waters.
Down south is a different story. It would appear that many of those devastating fires were deliberately lit. Maybe that's where Mel has been - checking out the firies. The heat is not unusual for summer in Victoria and South Australia the length of time it lasted is unusual.
Ruth - thank you for moving the posts and looking after us. Hope Disney remembers her manners on the job and that Jazz doesn't get stood on in the rush.
Happy - so glad to hear of the weight loss. Yahoo - :woohoo: and all the other 'hoos. Keep it up. Sorry to hear of the DH and cataracts. Hope you can get them sorted asap. The joys of growing old eh? Do you have to wake up the hibernating animal to get a shadow or not???
Annie - I always cook a lot more when the kids come home. I did watch Bruce Springsteen as well.
I don't understand the game, after yesterday, I'm not at all sure I want to understand the game. Our guys tend to run harder, faster, pass the ball frequently, don't wear the padding, don't have coaches screaming in their ears and still manage to play hard and fast. A 60 yard run is not at all uncommon in our footy - in fact we expect it. But as I said, I don't understand the game and it may have some details to explain all of the above to make it more exciting. Scoreline was close though. That I like.
Ceejay - sorry to hear of the backlog at work. At least it makes the day go fast.
Michelle - Glad you enjoyed the superbowl. As I said before, you obviously have to understand the rules to enjoy the game. That is true for most of life anyway.
Pet expo sounds interesting. My niece in NZ would have loved it. She is such an animal person. She writes pet manuals, has a little business walking dogs, belongs to PetAngels and has a menagerie of animals herself.
Sorry to hear that the back is not 100%. Hope you can improve things soon. I will send you a friend request on facebook shortly.
And with that, I had better get on with my day. Few more things came off the list yesterday. Mind you a few more things went on as well. It is a never ending task list around here. Be seeing ya
02-02-2009, 05:00 PM
Shad...I don't understand the football game as much as I would like, but get the jest of it. I wouldn't want to be on the field in any place. I would have a massive migraine! lol
Thanks for the name/credit reminder. You are not a killjoy. We all have to look out after each other. Woman Power!!
Have a great evening all....I am taking DD to dinner to celebrate...Guess What...all prayers worked. She got her pap back, after fighting pre-cancerous cells for 3 years, 4 or so surgeries, 2 freezings of the cervix and many other things...SHE IS CANCER CELL FREE!! She called me crying and I automatically thought it was that same kind of call as in the past, but she was crying tears of joy!!! Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayers.
Much love and many hugs,
02-03-2009, 09:56 AM
Good morning everyone,
Funny you should say that about the American football Shad. DH was watching the game and commented that they should play like they do in Europe - none of that sissy stuff  I did not watch the game, not all that interested in football. I understand enough to follow it along. And don't stone me, but I never particularly cared for Bruce Springsteen, even less so when he left his wife and took up with his band mate.
Ceejay - they showed a bit of the devistation up north of you due to the ice storm. Geez that was terrible and they say it could be WEEKS before people get their power restored. I feel badly for those poor people!
Let's count our blessings today. Someone is always worse off than you. Gotta run now. See yah! Love to the rest of the chicks
Annie - that is such WONDERFUL news about your DD - so happy for both of you - what a grand relief :yay: :grouphug:
Michelle - the pet expo sounds like so much fun, expecially if you get to get up close and personal with the critters. Sorry to hear it stressed your back tho :(
02-03-2009, 10:12 AM
Good Morning, Mornin', Hello Sunshine(s), Wake up Sleepy Head(s).............
Well, it is snowing like a mug here this morning. I made it to work before it hit. Whew weee. Only supposed to get up to 2 inches. Not bad. Then a warm trend is setting in. 50s by Friday, Sat, Sun with possible rain. Will melt this nasty dirty looking stuff. Yeah!!
Ceejay...I like Bruce, but not as much as I used too, same with John Mellencamp. I would much rather see Fleetwood Mac or the Eagles-who are coming to Indy in March, but am too poor to attend.
Dinner at Olive Garden was very good. I had Parmesan Crusted Talipia, steamed squash over angelhair pasta. Ate about half and saved the other half for lunch today. Lunch is all I can think about now. haha
Wow, just looked outside, it looks like a whiteout. Very cool since I am inside and don't have to deal with it till later today. Knowing this place, we will get early release. They are so compassionate to our needs. ;^)
Hello to everyone.
Love and Hugs
02-03-2009, 11:14 AM
I am so thankful to have a job and a warm place to be whether it be at home or here at work. There is still a lot of people with out power and I've never seen so many cities and towns on boil orders in order to drink the water.
The doctor gave me a different kind of bp med this time but I'm going to have to quit takiing them. The pharmacist told me that the diuretic in them would rob my potassium. I've been having muscle spasms. I'm going back to the ones that the dr in Jonesboro gave me and when those run out I'll have my doctor refill those.
Congratulations on those pounds lost/ I've proably gained them. My appetite is back.
To everyone else have a good day. Stay one plan. I haven't been.
02-03-2009, 11:51 AM
Morning ladies -
Quick check in for me today - not much time for personals. It's nice to have connected with some of you on Facebook.
Annie - That's great news about your DD!
A big  to all my worldly friends! Here's to a great day for all of us!
Love and hugs,
02-03-2009, 07:47 PM
Woke up late this morning. Mind you I woke up at 1.30am and couldn't get back to sleep for a long time so I suppose it is only natural. I'm having trouble getting motivated to get things done today. I hope it will go away shortly.
I need to ring some of those rotten recruiters today as well. One of them sent me an email asking me if I knew of anyone looking for work documenting and training! :faint: Why am I suprised??? It's the same one as asked me if I could do anything in SAP. :chin:
Annie - so delighted with the DD's results. Now she can start living again. Fantastic.
Snow, snow and more snow. I'm glad you are happy in your job. Safe driving home.
Ceejay - if the doctor prescribed those pills, I would take them, not change them. Take extra potassium tablets if necessary and eat bananas which are chock a block with potassium. All due respects to the chemist, but the dr should know what will suit you better.
Happy - now I know why your DH and I get on so well. Hope you have a good day at work
The smell around the house is fantastic at the moment. Due to the rains we have had, the Murraya hedge has formed millions of blossoms which smell like orange blossom. It is exquisite. I love the hedge despite the fact it is not all that low maintenance, grows like crazy and needs cutting 4 times a year. Still right now I can forgive it anything.
Still, I'd better get off here and get down and dirty with some painting, cleaning, gardening, washing and the rest. No peace here, just a long list of niggles and projects.
02-04-2009, 10:02 AM
Quickie hello for me today. I'm having trouble with the site today - and this thread in particular for some reason. It's slow to post and I'm getting the dreaded page not found.
It's cold here today. Not going to get much above freezing but if we can hang in until the weekend, it's back to the 60's again. :yay: I'm tired of winter.
Annie - I was waiting for the local weather to come in and saw the horrid crash just north of you on the highway. At least 6 tractor trailers and 35 vehicles. It was awful. Did you catch part of that wretched lake effect snowstorm too? Even the weather channel guys said they had to pull off, visibility was nil.
Shad, I'd have to believe that you get along with most people, except of course for the dummies
Ceejay - you are right about being grateful for the small things in life. A roof and electricity and running water being top in the lot  I thought the same thing after I saw the devistation from tornado damage.
Hi there Michelle - how's the back feeling today?
 to Mel - hope you are on the mend.
Gotta run now, try and get back later
02-04-2009, 11:18 AM
 from sunny but fffreezing Ontario. We seem to have dodged the bullet on that crappy weather from Texas - it's supposed to go above freezing next week.
Trying hard to get my life and food back on track and having some success with the first one anyhow! I must say I really, really need a shot of spring RIGHT NOW and am kicking myself for not accepting that invitation to visit in Sanibel. I may splurge and buy some flowers when I go out today. It's time to clean up my basement planting area and get the growlights and stand cranked up. Maybe that will get me feeling Fab In Feb!
Just checking in.
02-04-2009, 02:05 PM
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get my potassium checked. The last time I took the bp med with fluid pill I had muscle spasms which turned out to be caused by a very low potassium level. I'm having them again. The fluid pill was the culprit involved. I eat foods with potassium in them. Thanks for being concerned.
I got a note from my uncle today stating that 90% of his trees on his place were damaged by the ice storm.
I'm looking forward to being off work tomorrow.
I learned this morning that Bud has turned in his resignation.
02-04-2009, 02:06 PM
Happy Hump and Trash Day!!!
The man came over last night, bless his heart, he took my trash to the curb for today's pick up. I was greatful for that cause we had 2-4" of snow drop yesterday. I didn't want to trapse out into it. That is one more thing he is good for, lol.
Shad...I couldn't sleep last night either. I woke up just after midnight then watched Jay Leno. The two dudes from Batesville, Indiana were on talking about their super bowl commercial win. Kind of neat as they are brothers and both were unemployed before winning the million for the commerical.
Happy...we didn't have the lake snow effects or white out much, but did get 2-4" of snow. Just enough so they let schools out a bit early then put them on a 2 hour delay this morning. I could of used a 2 hour delay this morning.
Ruth...Oh to be in Sanibel right now. Nice and toasty and sunny. Um, what kind of plants are you growing in that basement??
Michelle...Hope your day is going well for you.
Ceejay...Feeling any better?
MEL...how's the eyes coming along?
Hello to everyone.
Love and Hugs,
02-04-2009, 04:29 PM
Beautiful morning it is too! I need to get out into the yard before it gets too hot so will go there shortly.
Mel will not be back yet. Her eyes are still sore and dry and her skin apparently looks like roadmaps in shades of red and pink.
Next Wednesday I am heading off to NZ for 5 days. I'm using my frequent flyer points + taxes to pay for it. I had an email from an old school friend who was arranging an afternoon tea for the 'old girls of Pomare school'. Since I have cabin fever I decided I would go and booked the fares last night. I'd just sent an email to say that I was coming when she rang to say she had the date wrong and it was 14th March not 14th Feb. Too late, costs too much to change so I am going anyway. I'll catch up with Chris from Japan and see her new house and with my sister and a few other people no doubt and it will do me good to get away from the little old log cabin in the woods
I dug the recruiter out of the woodwork yesterday for him to tell me I didn't have the experience for the advertised job!!!! and then he said that the other job I had applied for had been filled by someone else from another agency so that's gone as well. The other recruiter rang me to tell me the job I had applied for was now on hold, however I am pretty sure I saw it advertised by yet another agency yesterday so who knows. I've sent a few cvs out to people but there isn't much about right now. Another reason to get out of the place for a few days. No dickhead people promising jobs they don't have to put me into. If that makes grammatical sense.
So yesterday, I finished the painting in the kitchen. It is now all done and just the tiling to be finished and the lighting to be put in and that's done. I think I have found a table and bench set that will fit the dining room. But I won't be buying them just yet. Things are moving along in the house. At least that is happening. Today I will tackle the 2 spare bedrooms or junk rooms as they appear to now be. I might also get into the roof to look at the space up there and decide what I will do to it. Lucky I have plenty to do isn't it.
Well that is about it. Coffee is finished. Time to get dressed and go out and plant and weed and fertilise while it is cool out there - well cooler. The thermometer says 27 (in the house).

Good afternoon ladies --
Another crazy busy day. Tomorrow I should have time to check in with y'all and post more.
It's been a heck of an emotionally draining week....I'm looking forward to the weekend.
I'm hoping to get to the gym this evening for an abs class followed by a Step class.
Love and hugs to all,

Geez Michelle - sounds like you had a terrible week. What's going on?
Shad - bummer about the jobs and the mix up on the dates. At least you can make lemonade out of a lemon situation. Will be nice to see Chris in her new digs. And to catch up on the family. A trip sounds like the perfect cure for the restlessness. Then on the plane back you can figure out where you want to go from here.
Annie - was nice of Mr. Tony to help you out. I remember slip sliding down the driveway taking the trash out. At least I could kick the recycling bin down the icy path and didn't have to carry it  Hey - get cheaper tickets and go see the Eagles by all means. You don't need to sit up front like I did - they put on an awesome show and from what I hear, with their (still) personality clashes, you always go see the Eagles when you have the chance because you never know if it will be their last tour ever
Ceejay - that's very sad about your uncle's trees. We had some nasty frost damage 2 years ago, I can only imagine the devistation that an ice storm would bring. :(
Ruth - from what I hear, Florida is no escape from the cold. My mom was watching an interview with a woman who has strawberry fields. A 3.5 million dollar crop was in jepardy from the freezing cold. And the berries were just about ready to harvest. Those poor people.
It's another cold day here but everyone on the radio is saying HANG ON, the warmth is coming. Should be here by the weekend. Tomorrow is DH's birthday. I have to remember to get him a card. And his favorite gift - scratch off lottery tickets
02-05-2009, 10:02 AM
DEAR CHICKS....I THINK I SHALL BE BACK IN ABOUT A WEEK. FINALLOY THINGS ARE SHOWING SIGNS OF A REAL IMPROVEMENT. TRYING NOT TO GO NUTS TOO SOON AND SPOIL THINGS.
IN THE MEATIME STAY WELL AND I AM SENDING HUGS TO EVERYONE
HAPPY~ DO YOU EVER READ YOUR MAILBOX???
02-05-2009, 12:28 PM
Shad...enjoy your trip/vacation. You sound frustrated as heck. Things will turn around, all will be good.
MEL...take care of yourself, stay off the puter, altho we do miss you!
Michelle...Hope work is settling down for you. I am a crazy lady, most days at work.
Happy...It certainly is a cold one here too. It was -6 on my car thermometer this morning. Come on spring. Tomorrow's high is 40, then 50s on the weekend. Yeah! Melt that snow. Then flooding will be next as it is supposed to rain also.
Went to dinner with a GF I hadn't seen in 6 years. We laughed and talked and hugged. It was a great time. Had Grilled Chicken Margarita at Chili's. Quite yummy.
Going to get the laundry done tonight, it is stacking up nicely....haha
Have a marvelous day all.
Love and Hugs
02-05-2009, 02:57 PM
It's nice to have enough frequent flyer miles to go on vacation. Enjoy your get away.
Glad you enjoyed the time with your gf.
I'm getting ready to go to the doctor yet again one more time. Then make a trip to the income tax office to have the taxes filed.
02-05-2009, 04:01 PM
Weird weather all over the world at the moment. Ice, snow, water, heat, fires, cyclones, flooding, you name it. It is all out there.
I'm off out into the garden in a minute to plant out some more little plants and do some fertilising around the joint. Never ending job ensuring the weeds don't come back around here. Nevertheless, all those little seedlings much mean that all those seeds left in the soil must be germinating but wont be able to seed any more. Got to be a reduction in weeds eventually.
Today will be a day of ticking off a few more things on the list, staying cool, drinking lots of water, and getting ready for a bbq on Sunday. I'm about to test out the new furniture on the patio with a group of family and friends. Some more weeding is in order and a spray or two to knock off the regrowth down the side of the house.
Michelle - what's going on. You haven't mentioned problems this week or have you and I haven't read properly?
Happy - I think the next job will probably come not from this bunch of recruiters but from word of mouth. I just have to wait patiently. It's fortunate I plan for these times.
Very happy Birthday to DH :balloons: :gift: :hb:
Annie - grilled chicken margarita - sounds fascinating. Do you drink it or eat it?
Ceejay - yep it is nice to have ff - but you suffer to get them. Imagine all those metal tubes I have been in hurtling around the earth going to a lot of out of the way places. I still have enough left for a business class trip around the world as well.
Okay - off to plant, dig, water and then breakfast. Yahoo.
02-05-2009, 05:48 PM
Shad - Enjoy your vacation! Everything is okay. I've had a bit of "ex" stress, that I created/perpetuated myself and I'd rather not talk about it. Plus work has been very stressful.
Annie - I wish we were gonna be having 50 degree weather, but I'll be happy if it gets into the low 40s.
Ceejay - Good luck at the doctors!
Happy - I hope you're doing well. Happy Birthday to DH. My DH and I are going to Gurnee on Saturday to Bass Pro Shops for some fishing seminars.....It should be a lot of fun....and it will remind that spring (and fishing) is not too far off. :)
I had a wonderful physical therapy appointment earlier today. She did an excrutiating painful deep tissue massage on my lower back and SI joint. That's what she did last time I had physical therapy a few months ago. It hurts like h*ll at the time, but REALLY eases the pain and loosens everything up! I gotta remember to drink lots of water today to flush out all the toxins that the massage loosened up (or whatever).
Despite feeling physically and emotionally drained after stress and drama (that I created all by myself) about my ex, I went to the gym last night and did an Abs class and a Step class - the step class was a little jarring for my back. But overall, it improved my mood a lot due to the exercise. Gotta love endorphins. My physical therapist said she'd like to see me avoid Step and Kickboxing for awhile at least and maybe permanently. Bummer. I really, really like Step. She said the most important thing for me is flexibility stretches and strengthening exercises. She said I can cardio on the machines (treadmill, eliptical, etc.) or in the pool.
Tonight, I'm doing a strength training class at the gym, followed by a dance class, as long as it's not too bouncy. Well, I'm sure some things will be bouncing...but I gotta not jar/bounce my low back.
Less than an hour to go before I leave for the day. And then it's Friday! Yay!!
Love and hugs to all,
02-05-2009, 05:54 PM
Just to add...I need to remind myself that my life is really great now. I have a wonderful hubby who loves me and has for nearly 20 years, and I wouldn't change a thing. I need to quit thinking about/stressing about/crying about the past and focus on the present and the future.
02-05-2009, 09:08 PM
He thinks it's a pulled muscle. I do remember moving the tv cabinet down about 2 inches last week and the tv was was on the inside. I will not be doing that again any time soon. I really have to watch the way I move because the pain is so intense. One lady in the doctor's office waiting room thought I was going to fall and jumped up to help me. The nurse came and got me. That's how bad it is. This time rx's for muscle relaxers and pain pills. The pharmacy was out of the pain pills but will have more in the morning.
I didn't have the taxes done because of the spasms plus they had a lot of cutomers. I'll go in the morning. The pharmacy is close by.
Hugs. I wish I could keep myself out of the past and focus on the future too.
02-06-2009, 08:55 AM
Happy Friday ladies -
And it truly is a happy Friday. I had a wonderful, long talk with a woman I know who is a counselor, and she helped me sort everything out. What relief I feel. I can truly now put the past in the past and be SO grateful that my life has turned out as it has. I'm so happy in the present and the future looks so bright, I gotta wear shades!
Ceejay - Do take care of yourself. Muscle pain/strain is nothing to mess around with. Ice and heat often help a lot. I hope the pain lessens soon.
Shad - Have a wonderful trip!
I'm so excited it's supposed to warm up to 40 degrees today and tomorrow! Yay!
Here's to a fabulous Friday for all of us!
Love and hugs,
02-06-2009, 09:56 AM
Another pound down at weigh in yesterday. I'll take it. I guess I have to go dry and not drink my usual load of water and tea before I weigh in  Cold weather is gone. Nice weather is here for a few days :yay:
Michelle - glad you were able to work through your issues. Sometimes the past comes back to haunt us. I didn't realize you've been with DH for 20 years. That's a LONG time. See you wound up with the right one after all ;)
Ceejay - hope you feel better. It's so easy to mess something up shifting things around :(
Shad - you're having a party and didn't invite us :( Hope the BBQ turns out nice for you.
Annie - I'll try and push some of our warmer air up your way. Depends on who pushes harder - me or Ruthie
Mel - glad you're coming around the bend. Yes, I do read emails. The problem is that I THINK I have replied when I guess I didn't :o
Gotta run now and get ready for my 9am meeting. Happy Friday!
02-06-2009, 10:50 AM
Congratulations, Happy! That's awesome!!! Enjoy your success and the nice weather! My DH and I have been together 19 years. In some ways, it doesn't seem like just the other day when we started dating, and in some ways it seems like he and I have loved each other for ever. I truly believe he is my soul mate. :)
I'm hearing rumors now that the temps might be up almost to the 50s! Heck, that short sleeves and no jacket weather! :woohoo:
Mel - I'm glad you're feeling better. Take good care of yourself.
02-06-2009, 10:56 AM
Howdy ladies...got everyone in the enrollment meeting and I am taking this time to drop a line or two.
Going to the movies and dinner with Tony tonight. We are going to see the Frost/Nixon movie. We have been wanting to see it, but not got around to it yet.
DS got a job with a temp agency, it is temp to hire, so keep your fingers crossed they do just that.
Happy....Whew Who...great job on another lb down. You are rockin' in this new year. Keep up the good work! Proud of you, sista!
02-06-2009, 11:02 AM
Wow, hit post before I was done....
Shad...I love gardening...can't wait for that weather to get here. The margarita chicken is an edible. It was very good too!
Michelle...I love massages. They do wonders for me physically and mentally. Yes, Life is Good and God is grand!!
Ceejay....better living through chemicals is my motto....you need to find a man to do your lifting around there, even if it is a teenager from the neighborhood. You should not be doing that stuff. Take care of you!
Gotta clean the house this weekend. Since the baby boy and one of his buddy's came last weekend, their bathroom needs scoured and the sheets washed on the beds. At least I have something to clean, very excited. Got all the laundry done last night. It was only two loads, but that is enough.
Probably go visits my parents this weekend and Samantha is coming over to color my hair. Man, 4 weeks goes fast. My dark roots only show about halfway back, cause the front half comes in a beautiful snow white. hahahaha
Hello to everyone.
Much love and many hugs,
02-06-2009, 03:13 PM
Remember that a gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds.
Three muscle relaxers later and my back is sore but no spasms that bring me down to one knee.
I'm going to Paragould this week end. I'm hoping not to find electric poles laying across the highway.
Have a good week end every one. I'll be back tomorrow to do personals.
02-06-2009, 05:05 PM
Annie - Have a great time tonight with Tony. And have fun this weekend getting your hair done, housecleaning and visiting your parents! That's great news about your DS. I hope the job does become permanent.
Ceejay - Be careful driving to Paragould if you're taking muscle relaxers.
02-06-2009, 05:30 PM
And another beautiful morning in the great South East it is too.
Happy - my humblest apologies for not inviting the chicks to bbq with the family on Sunday. Just rock on over, OK? Mind you, I am not sure whether any of you will be coming for the food or the sunshine, but not to worry, we have an abundance of both. I'm serving up bolar of beef stuffed with something I haven't figured out yet, Orange duckling, hasselback potatoes and a variety of salads from spinach and strawberry to potato salad. We are having a jelly set with fruit and cream or yoghurt for desert. Haven't sorted the antipasto yet. Maybe dukkah or maybe not as I can't make oil light. Everything else above I can cut the calories but not for oil so cancel that one. Maybe a bit of finger food like blini or something. I will sort something out no doubt by today.
Well done on that pound down. Take everyone you can snatch back.
Michelle - that deep tissue massage sounds wonderful. Ensure you get the best benefit from it - no jarring the back while you work out.
Ceejay - take care with the muscle
Annie - Fingers are crossed for jobs all around - your DS and me too. Enjoy the movies.
We're a fairly small mob these days aren't we. Aaah well things happen for a reason. Hope Mel gets back soon, she is sounding brighter.
And I better go plan out my day. I have a biggish shop to do so will get that out of the road asap. Shops open in an hour. Might take me that long to make a list. Meantime, I'll go finish off the coffee, take a shower and get on with some chores around the house.
02-07-2009, 01:36 PM
Good morning all,
Although it's almost noon here. Got involved in organizing some of the finances this morning which ate up quite a chunk of time. Also loaded some more songs on the Ipod as I need something to cruise me through the cleaning today.
Although it's grey skies, there are mild temps - yee haw :carrot: There's just something energizing about warmer temps after the winter cold.
Shad - although I had to look up several items on your menu, the bbq sounds delicious! I see you are doing strawberry and spinach salad too  I'm sure your guests will enjoy the spread. I know I would if I could make it :hungry:
Hope you are feeling better Michelle and Ceejay - ease back into the daily grind.
Annie - :crossed: for the DS. How was the movie? Ha ha on the hair - know what you mean ;)
Sorry I can't really hang around here much this morning. Already spent too much time here and I have alot to do. Might be back tonight. Enjoy your weekend.
02-07-2009, 04:18 PM
We went to see Taken instead of Frost/Nixon. It is absolutely excellent. You all will have to see it.
Got the house clean, laundry done, sheet washed and back on the bed, now I am getting ready to go to the grocery. Think I will be Vegetable Beef Soup. It sounds yummy right now.
Catcha later gaters.
Love and Hugs,

The day of the big bbq has arrived so I'm not spending a lot of time in here today.
For those of you suffering in the cold, spare a thought for those too warm. The State of Victoria had it's highest ever recorded temperature yesterday and Melbourne's mercury hit 46.4C (around 120F) and the bushfires which the weary firefighters had under control last week have broken out again, helped by a 100kph wind and some more homes have been lost and peoples lives devastated. Adelaide recorded it's umpteenth day of over 40C and several people have lost their lives due to heat exhaustion. Up north we have the flipside of the coin and North Queensland has again been deluged with rain. Some areas have now had over a metre of water - that's 3 feet of water - fallen on their region. Roads are flooded, help must be helicoptered into some areas, people are getting around in boats rather than cars and over 3000 homes have been ruined or badly damaged by flood waters. The town of Ingham managed to see waterlogged ground as 3 metre floods receded on Friday but are again underwater today as more heavy rains fell on their already waterlogged farms and forests. There are crocodiles floating down the main street believe it or not.
Happy is off cleaning, the others are enjoying their weekends and I must go too. I'll be back with some updates to the bbq later today. Time to crank up the routine. Washing, sweeping, tidying, cooking, I'm close to ready because I did such a lot yesterday. Today I need to dress the Duck and make the salads and we are about as ready as we will ever be. Dessert is done apart from making it look pretty. See ya
02-08-2009, 10:08 AM
I was shocked by all the downed utility poles and trees. My uncle has 15 acres of woods by his house and there was at least 90% damaged to the tree's. The good thing about this week end is that I got to see at least 30 turkey in my uncle's back yard. My cousin and uncle had started to clean up some yesterday as well as my cousin's wife and son.
I had to back track on my way to Paragould because the utilities crew had the highway blocked. There were wires laying across the highway also but other vehicles were driving across them so did I. I can believe that some people will be with out power until mid March. It's awful. Another uncle, who lives outside of Paragould in the country, power was still not on yesterday but crews were in the area.
You know the bp med with the fluid med I think is helping me. I've lost around 4 pounds of fluid this week and this morning my bp was 125/80. I'm down to 185.4in pounds. I'm very happy.
Have a good Sunday.

Happy New Year to all the Worldies,
I hope all of you are doing well and ready to tackle the new year! My dog Toby and I journeyed down to Boise for the Christmas time with my boys and GF's. The ride down was more than a little hair raising but made it safe and enjoyed myself immensely. My oldest is getting married Oct. 3rd. so that is wonderful and a good motivator for his Mom to getting moving!!!!
My brother suffered a stroke and things have been topsy turvy for my family up in the Valley. I went home last weekend and didn't accomplish much but it was a good visit.
I have been working very long hard hours at work to get things in order for the new year. I only have a few more good years in me to secure my retirement. Yes, I am sooo grateful for my great job!!
The weekly newspaper had a pic of a wolf chasing deer in my neighborhood last week. Yikes, this couple took a pic of him right off their deck. This is below my house. I have known they are up here since I moved here. I never say the W word took the life of my 1st Toby but my bones know it was so.
I did a good shopping trip on my way home last week and I have new vitamins, good food to cook. My focus is going to be on portion control and getting in my 10,000 steps or more each day. So far pretty good. Feeling this body age is not exactly a treat more like a trip through the house of horrors!!!!!
Hope everyone is well. I will try to make my way here more often. Blessings to each of you and your families.
02-08-2009, 01:21 PM
Good morning ladies,
Nice to see you again Rose. Congrats on the son's upcoming wedding. I think for alot of us here, we are close to retirement and trying to squirrel away as much as possible. Not the best of times to be in such a shakey economy.
Will we all be in our 80's bagging grocery at the Walmart?
Shad - I hope your BBQ turned out well. News of the devistation back home is coming across the pond here. We are hearing more about it. How terrible for those people. And 3 feet of water - I can't imagine. My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes and the little precious things you have in your home that mean so much and are irreplaceable.
We have gone from freezing last week to 70 degree temps this weekend. Although it's wonderful and great to throw open the windows and doors, this is also a scary time when the mix of warm and sudden cold air can meet and make for tornadoes.
Ceejay - glad you hear you are feeling a bit better and dropped some pounds along with it. I had hear a bit about it being so bad up north but until you get a description such as you have given, it's hard to fathom just how bad things are. I can't imagine trying to stay in my house with no power for 2 months not to mention the massive clean up that needs to take place from broken trees and lines. Thanks for the reminder about just how much water weighs. Geez! I guess I'll have to limit the fluids before weigh in
Annie you are ahead of me on the cleaning and laundry, guess that means you win
I did get the kitchen cleaned up yesterday. DH said he never realized we had so much counter space *snark, snark* Told him it was his job as much as mine to make sure it stayed that way. Once again I am realizing that if you chose to keep alot of stuff, you have to spend time and effort organizing and cleaning that stuff. Do I need 30 cookbooks anymore when probably for the last 5 years if I want a recipe, I go to the Internet? The one thing the cookbooks do help with is pretty pictures that you can look through and get ideas when you don't know what to cook. I really need about a month off from work to go through cabinets and closets and toss out a whole lot of what I no longer need but never have time to sort through. I probably should shut up because sometimes you have to be careful what you ask for - in these troubling financial times, I don't need time off from work as in NOT HAVING A JOB :yikes: But I remain wistful about just having a block of time to devote to some big ticket projects.
DH's Ipod bit the dust so it being his birthday and all, we decided to get him a new one. He uses it all the time when he's working outside in the yard and like exercising, the music makes the time pass quickly and forget about how hot, sweaty or tired you are. We had gone out for an early birthday dinner for him and since we were in the car decided to go to Best Buy - one of the last big box electronics stores that survived the downturn in the economy. DH wanted the nano which weighs about 2 ounces and would be so easy to palm (steal). Of course they are locked up securely in a glass case. There must be about 20 customers standing around all looking for help with phones, stereo systems and mobile gadgets. We stop an employee walking by and ask if we can get a Nano. He points to a guy on the phone with 5 people milling about and says he has the key to the case. We wait about 10 minutes, the guy is still on the phone and like hungry wolves, everyone is clamoring for his attention. The store is fairly busy and it's quite obvious they don't have anywhere near the employees necessary to assist the customers. Patience not being one of DH's better virtues after about 15 minutes he says we're getting out of here, obviously they don't want the business.
DH was frustrated and I remembered that we have an Apple store in the upscale mall here in town. It was 5:45 and I was concerned that things were about to close but as we pulled into the parking lots, all shiny and brightly lit is the Apple store - doors wide open, lots of helpful employees with a "have you been helped today?". We located the Nanos, DH decided blue was good for him, I asked one of the clerks and in 10 minutes we were walking out of the store with our purchase.
I'm afraid that Best Buy will be caught in the Catch-22 that affects alot of stores. They cut back on costs so the first to go is employees and then people have to wait too long to get served, you should not have to wait 1 hour for someone to wait on you so like us, they go elsewhere. Revenues go down, they cut back further, service gets worse and so it goes until like Circuit City and it's predecessors, they shut the doors for good. Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting a reasonable time for someone to help me but 20 customers and one clerk is ridiculous. Also as we left the store, there must have been about 20 employees in the front of the store by the cashiers. I can't believe at 6pm there was a shift change as the store was only going to be open for a few more hours.
Anyway, we got DH loaded up with tunes so he's ready to go tackle the yard and I need to continue on with the rest of the rooms down here. I'm hoping to be able to wash my car too even if it will rain most of next week. It's that time of year when spring has arrived, the birds are busy feeding to prepare for little ones and you realize that it's just NOT a good thing to park underneath the trees in the driveway if YKWIM
02-08-2009, 03:22 PM
Yahoo article about the fires in Australia. Towns being literally burned off the map. So sad...
It's been a week and no word about my results. I guess i'm going to call doctor's office tomorrow. The one thing he mentioned to me though was to get back to exercising and I did. I committed to working out 3 days at gym and walking 3 days at home on treadmill.
Shad - Hope you have a great BBQ. I hope the winds die down, so the fires can be contained. I can't believe someone would start them.
Happy - I agree with you about the service at many stores. You can't get any customer service with all the cuts. I would love to have clean kitchen counter, mine is so cluttered with stuff.
Ceejay - Be careful driving around downed wires. You never know if the wires are "live".
Mitchellez - I too have to stay away from the High Impact workouts. My knees and lower back start to hurt. I"m glad to hear your feeling better.
Annie - do you make your soups from scratch? If so, can you pm me a recipe or two. The ones from the stores have too much sodium for me.
We'll need to run, going to take Blackie to a "Doggie Bath House" and give him a bath there. It's so easy to go there then to clean bathroom after.
Hope everyone's having a great day.

Our friend Mooz, introduced me to the writings from Ralph Marston and
I often go back and read his daily motivations. Here's a few to ponder:
Free from the past
You don't need to run away from the past. For it's already quickly receding behind you.
If you've had a wonderful and fulfilling past, it is now time to move forward. If you've had a difficult and troubling past, it is now time to move forward.
Whatever the past may or may not have been, it is now over. Choose to not let it hold you back for any reason.
Are your thoughts filled with regret, resentment, sorrow or anger for what has already been? The sooner you let go and move on, the better your life will be.
Cherish the past, take wisdom from the past, but don't let the past become your prison. Free yourself to move forward in a positive, fulfilling way.
If there's one thing you have learned from the past, it is that life is precious. Now is when you can fully realize and experience the precious life you are in.
-- Ralph Marston
02-08-2009, 03:40 PM
Get past the past
Your shortcomings and disappointments are all in the past now. They have nothing to do with what you can accomplish from this point forward. Every day, you start with a clean slate. Every moment is an opportunity to begin the process of turning your dreams into reality.
It doesn't matter what has happened before. Yes, the past has brought you to where you are. Yet right now the path splits off in an infinite number of directions. And you have the choice of which one to take.
Learn from the past and then let it go. To wish that it had been different, is a waste of time and energy. To continue living with your past limitations, is a waste of your life's enormous potential.
Your past does not define who you are or what you can accomplish. You do.
-- Ralph Marston

Hard to think of words to describe the heartbreak down south. I am waiting for word from two friends who each have properties in the general area. I have been to Marysville. It is - sorry was - the most gorgeous little town. It was heritage listed and I was reminded of it when we went to the Blanchett Caves Happy. Same sort of little town only smaller, and they didn't have singsongs on the verandahs too often. Surrounded by the most magnificent forests and rivers and clean and green. It is so hard to believe it is no more. I think I have some pictures of Marysville on my webshots site.
The bbq went fine last night. 10 of us got through the duck and the beef and the new bbq cooks darn hot and quick. I have some more practice to do before I get good at it. I can have my favorite sandwiches for lunch today.
Sorry, the news has reduced me to rubble, there wont be much in the way of personals at the moment. I'll come back later for them.
02-09-2009, 09:47 AM
Good morning ladies,
The weekend was gorgeous weather wise, the rains are moving in this afternoon and it will be a soggy week. The birds are all singing their spring songs and gorging themselves on berries (tho I don't know where they are finding them) so it's important not to park your car under a tree  I made headway in the house, still so much to do it seems but I will get there.
Shad - hope your friends will make out alright with the fires and such :( Our not so new BBQ also cooks hotter than we would like it. This must be our 6th year with this one, still trying to work out the kinks although we went with a less expensive brand and we're both kind of sorry we did as it is not as good as the other one.
Hi Patty - nice to see you again. A doggie bath house? that sure sounds interesting and a great concept. As for soups - I agree with you about the canned being so high in sodium and the low sodium ones are rather blah. You can make some pretty quick ones using low sodium chicken, vegetable or beef broth, diced chicken or left over beef bits and a package of frozen vegetables. Or sautee fresh chopped veggies until soft enough for your tastes and dump into the pot.
Thanks for the motivations - always good to start off the day with a positive outlook :D
I guess I beat all the other chicks in today so I'll just give a  and welcome you to a new week. I have to get on with the show myself...

Morning every one.
Just a brief note since there's not much happening on my end. I woke up last night around 12.45 a.m. with bad muscle spasms. I don't know where they are coming from but they sure do hurt. Today I'm planning on drinking 100 oz of liquid and most of it water. I'm going to see if that helps.
I'm wondering if mother nature is mad. She sure has been destructive lately.
I'm diffinately glad that the days are getting longer. This mornng I left for work in pre dawn light. The birds began to sing as I was getting ready for work. I've really missed that this winter. The full moon was still out and the sun coming up. It made for a beautiful sky.
I'm waiting for the guys to get through in the back wash pit. They are replacing a motor. Then I can get on with my day. Number 2 filter is ready for it's backwash procedure.

The weekend went too fast. DH and I had a great time going to Bass Pro Shops in IL. What a neat store. It's like a Cabelas store, but more focused on fishing than hunting. We had gorgeous weather both days, and yesterday we were finally able to take all the Christmas stuff off the front lawn. Yay!
Today has been crazy busy and stressful at work. And tonight, I've got to meet with a website client after work. Long day.
Shad - Glad to hear the BBQ went well. I feel so bad for the people in Victoria and Melbourne. It's just awful. I hate that kind of heat. I've had heat exhaustion a couple times....it's really scary - gotta get the body temp down. Crocodiles floating down main street - now that's scary! I would freak if I saw a croc up close. And so, so sad to see those towns burned to the ground, all the loss of life and damage. :(
Happy - We're going to have a soggy early part of the week too. And there is already some flooding in the low-lying areas of Milwaukee. That's cool you wear your ipod while cleaning. I crank up the stereo with some fast paced rock to keep me moving. I'd like a block of time to take care of things as well, but I'm happy to have a job, and a good job at that, so I'll just do a little at a time.
Annie - I definitely want to see Taken. It looks really good - very intense. Please pm me your recipes as well, if you don't mind. Or email them to me. My email address is listed on Facebook.
Ceejay - Glad to hear your meds are helping! That's awesome! Some people without power until March? That's just crazy! I hope the muscle spasms have lessened. Can you eat bananas or potatoes? The potassium might help with the muscle spasms...of course, some people are supposed to limit their potassium, so be careful.
Roseblush - Welcome back! Glad you enjoyed the holidays with your boys! Congrats on your son's upcoming wedding. So sorry to hear of your DB's stroke.
Patty - Great to hear from you too! How did you know the exact Marston quotes I needed to hear?? Just amazing! You must be psychic! Thank you! I do miss Mooz and her wonderful quotes. Thanks for reminding me that I can get the daily quotes from Marston's website. Last I heard, she's keeping very busy with art and other projects. Good for you for committing to your workout. I'm committing to 3 days a week at the gym, being really careful to listen to my back. I need to get my back strong and healthy and pain free by spring. I hope your test results come back favorable. I'll bet Blackie looks and smells wonderful after a nice bath. With the warm weather here, it's now MUD season.
Well, I've got to go....Lots and lots to do.
Have a great rest of your day everyone!
Love and hugs,
02-09-2009, 06:00 PM
News coming from Victoria is still not good, but I have heard from at least one of my friends down there. He is scorched and singed but his two properties (ex wife's and his own) and he and his 3 children are safe and well. The other one has a place out in the forest between Marysville and Warburton, but I think she is in Korea on assignment at the moment. I don't know if any of the family were out there at the time. It is all very sad.
Michelle - yep it is hard to visualise that the top part of the country is under water and the bottom part is blackened and under fire. I just hope that the powers that be seek out and find the culprits and throw the book at them. My friend in the area tells me to support the community and burn a firebug today. I told him that I have my witchy burning stakes at the ready and my broomstick is turbo charged and ready to go.
Ceejay - sorry to hear about the muscle spasms. Try some of those sports drinks as you lose salt and minerals when you use diuretics.
Happy - I know what you mean about the cookbooks. I have heaps as well and generally speaking I only use one or two. Probably I should get rid of a lot of them too.
Nae - Good to see you again. I was wondering about you the other day. Congratulations to the son about to get married and hope the brother is getting better. Strokes are not nice. Still I'm sure his sister has some therapy to help him along.
Hiya Patty - good to hear from you too.
Annie - soup sounds wonderful although unless it is and iced soup it is far to hot around here for soup at the moment.
Okay - time to get on with the day. I have a fair amount to do today because I won't be doing much tomorrow apart from sitting in airports. Time for a cool drink and then the washing. See ya all.
02-09-2009, 09:42 PM
Not sure when you are leaving but safe travels to you Shaddie. Enjoy the visit with family and friends. Tell 'em you've giving out hugs from Elvisland
I was reading more on the Internet about the fires and what hellish conditions those people were in - those who could not outrun the flames. So frightening, my hair stood on end. And to think that some moron might have started some of them. Abominiable!!!! I'll join you on the witchy hunt.
Right now tho I have to go dust...
02-10-2009, 09:40 AM
Good Tuesday morning to you -
Shad - Safe and enjoyable travels to you!
Happy - I hope they catch the :censored: who started the fires! I just don't think there are punishments severe enough for that kind of crime! All those lives lost and all the terror and destruction they caused!
Annie - How was the vegetable beef soup? I hope you have a great day at work today!
Ceejay - I hope the muscle spasms have diminished.
Patty - I almost called you last night to thank you personally for the Marston quotes. Just what I needed to read at exactly the right time. Are you psychic or something?
Mel - I miss you. I hope you're doing okay. Hang in there.
Well, gotta run.
"Talk" to you later chickies!
Love and hugs,
02-10-2009, 09:44 AM
Good morning chicks,
Kinda quiet in here. Must be the rain
It's mild here but the thunderstorms are all around us.
I must say the house is looking nice and clean - if only it would stay that way by itself
Not much else to say except I miss Mel too :(
Talk to you later chicks...
02-10-2009, 02:20 PM
So hard to get back in the swing of things. I ache, but it's a good ache. The flu bug is going rampid here. Several of my co-workers are out. Luckily i was out of office the day it started, so this morning i came prepared with my lysol spray, lysol wipes and more hand wipes for me.
Mitchellez - Anytime you want to call you have my number. I'm no psychic, but sometimes you know what someone needs to hear.
Happy - the Doggie Bath House does pretty good here. There are probably 4 that i know of. The store provides, the shampoo, towels, dryers and the big tubs. You bath them yourself or you pay them to do it. Much cheaper doing it yourself. Yes, it's cheaper doing it at home, but not as messy. If you want grooming we'll that cost extra.
Ceejay - hope your muscle spasms went away.
Shad - Have a safe trip.
Hello to everyone else. Hope your having a great day.
02-10-2009, 03:39 PM
Seem to be having some problems with the site this morning, so this will be short.
I haven't packed yet. That's the next job on the list and I need to be out of here by 8.30am to catch the airport train. I don't know how often I will be back on line since both my sister and Chris have dial up and we won't want to be on that too long I bet.
Happy - practising Elvisland hugs on the cat. Will pass them on. Strange how the house looks so good for so short a time.
Michelle - Thanks for the happy travels message
Patty - thanks for the Ralph Marston quotes. I miss Mooz when I see things like that. Haven't heard from her in a long time.
Okay - gotta go. Toothbrush to pack etc. I'm only taking cabin baggage. Lets face it I only need clothes for 4 days. It's not hard. Put in 4 days of gear and take half off the pile and put it back in the closet. Pack what's left - there is always a thing called laundry!
02-10-2009, 06:05 PM
I have had a trainee today so I'm late in getting here. He's coming along.
The extra water did the job last night on the muscle spasms so I'm drinking more of it today.
One of my bosses is going to test L. to find out whether or not she can really do the paper work. I can't wait to see how she does. He wants to find out her weak spots then start her training again from that point. She is going to day shift as soon as they hire a replacement for Bud.
Guess what I did this morning! Walked right out the door with out getting my keys. Luckily I keep an extra car key in my purse. The boss was nice enough to let me go get a key from the land lord and then go back to the house to get my keys.
I wish my house would stay clean also.
Did you hear from your doctor's office about those results?
Michelle and Annie
Have a good day.
We sure do miss you. Get well soon.
02-11-2009, 09:23 AM
Happy Hump Day!!
It is supposed to be windy here today, 50 mile per hour winds, guess it will be in search of trash can again tonight. haha High today 60, whew who. I will take it. We are supposed to get up to 3 inches of rain today, rather the rain than snow. For every inch of rain it would equal 1 foot of snow. Thank you Jesus for watching over us.
Happy...I, too, heard the birds singing this morning. It is false hope tho, as this weekend is back down to the 30s. Poor birds!
Ceejay...glad to hear the water took care of the muscle spasms. I get charlie horses in my legs and feet at night from wearing heals to work. It hurts like a b*tch and wakes me up.
Michelle...I love the Bass Pro shop. I have been to the one in Cincinnati a few years back. Indy is supposed to get a Cabella's, however they put the construction of it on hold til 2010. They are building it across from a Gander Mountain, go figure. I will send the soup recipe soon, I keep forgetting to dig it out of my recipe drawer.
Shad...the fires down under are scary. Hope all is ok with you and your family. Safe travels, my dear.
MEL....Hurry and get well, I miss you and your humor.
Patty...happy disinfecting. The work place is the worse place to get germs...
Valentines day with Tony should be fun. We are going to the broadway show "Movin' Out". It is songs of Billy Joel. Then off to dinner after. I am very excited as this is the first time in a very long time to celebrate my most hated holiday with a boyfriend who knows how to celebrate. Mostly, Valentine's Day sucks. haha
Hello to all I may have missed. Have a marvelous hump day.
Much Love and Many Hugs,
02-11-2009, 09:53 AM
Good morning ladies,
Rainy one here. Windy too. But it looks like the worst of it passed through just before we had to get up. I sure would have liked to stay in bed a little longer today
Annie - hope you enjoy the show, I heard that one was supposed to be very good and I love Billy Joel songs. A group of us from work are going to see Menopause - the Musical next month. I'm looking forward to it. You're so right about that rain. 3 feet of snow - can you imagine? Would be like living by Ruthie!
I will know that I hit goal weight / am skinny again when DH gives me chocolates for Valentines Day. I have not gotten candy since... :chin: disco was popular (the first time) He always gets me something just not candy
Mr. Cardinal is banging away on the window again. I hope he doesn't break his beak! Birds are singing again so I hope that means the storm is passed.
Where are our Canadian friends???????? Don't they like us any more? Do we smell bad?
Mel - love to you - hope you are sitting quietly and on the road to recovery
Ceejay - that's crazy about the keys. Good thing you have a way of getting a spare. I think if I lived by myself I'd be panicky about those things. When DH would travel I was anal about pinning a key to me so I didn't get locked out! Glad your spasms eased up.
Guess Shad's on her way by now. Have fun but hurry back, we will miss you.
Patty - seems like no one was escape the sniffles. Had to laugh about you coming into the office well armed  Some of it - at least here - is sinus which you can't really prevent. Maybe you'll be lucky!
Michelle - where's the Bass Pro shop? Is that over by Six Flags? I saw the other day that Six Flags is hurting and might be one of the businesses in trouble in 2009. Scary to think of what all those kids would do loose on the streets if they didn't have the park to hang out at :yikes: Glad you had fun with the DH. How's your back feeling?
I need to get a move on here. Probably won't be back tonight, I'm hosting the neighborhood meeting tonight. Got to remember to eat just the fresh fruit and not the cheese tonight - weigh in tomorrow and I'm thinking this week is pretty much nil for a loss. Plus it seems like we retain a bit of moisture when it's raining out
02-11-2009, 10:31 AM
Happy Wednesday ladies -
I'm doing pretty good today. A bit tired, and my back, hamstrings and glutes are sore...but after the last few weeks of stress (work and other stuff), I don't mind a little physical discomfort. I went for a short walk at lunch (can't seem to walk more than 10 minutes without back pain), and then after work I did 10 minutes on the treddie, a 20 minutes abs class and a 1/2 hour yoga class. I also woke up and did some hamstring, calf and other lower body stretches.
I was able to process through my "ex" issues with the help of friends and my "ex-sister-in-law" (go figure). She's a really wonderful person, and I'm glad I was able to reconnect with her via Facebook. I feel much better now and read to stay focused on the present and the bright possibilities the future holds.
Shad - I hope you're enjoying your trip to NZ and giving Elvisland hugs to all your friends.
Ceejay - I'm glad the water helped your muscles. Gatorade might help as well, of course it has more calories - Propel water has electrolytes and fewer calories.
Patty - Any word about the test results? I hope you're doing okay.
Annie - We had big winds yesterday, and I think we'll have them again today, combined with rain changing to a slushy snow by nighttime. The Cabelas we have here were built within a few miles of the Gander Mountain. Sounds like you have a great Valentines Day planned! DH and I don't have any plans, he has to work during the day and he may be pretty tired when he gets home. Maybe we'll celebrate on Sunday instead - or Monday, since we both have Monday off (he gets it as a holiday, I'm taking a vacation day).
Happy - Menopause the Musical sounds like it will be funny! My DH knows better than to buy me candy for Valentines Day too. He usually gets me something nice that I've been wanting. Bass Pro Shops is right in Gurnee Mills shopping Mall. It faces the freeway and has a big sign that says "Outdoor World". I hope they don't close the Six Flags...many of my co-workers take their kids there. Despite the warm weather the past couple days, I haven't seen/heard a lot of birds, other than the ones that winter here. I guess we should fill our feeders again - we fill them at least once a week. Good luck with your neighborhood meeting. Sounds like you have a plan to keep the snacks in check. And good luck with weigh in tomorrow.
Well, lots to get done today.
Love and hugs to all,
02-12-2009, 03:43 AM
Quick hello as this dial up is the pits.
I have a new job which I will tell you all about when I get back on Sunday. It is wet and raining here although not particularly cold. Hope the weather improves somewhat for the next couple of days. Went over to the old homestead today and wandered around a bit. Not a lot has changed over there.
Have a fun day and an even funnier Valentines day if I don't get back before I go home. Like I said, this dial up sucks
Gotta go. :grouphug:
02-12-2009, 09:38 AM
Good Morning My Dears...
The winds have died down somewhat and actually the sun is beginning to shine. Well...what a start to the morning. Gave 12 viles of blood at 7 am this morning for my bariatric check up on the 24th. It checks all my vitiamin, protein, sugars, minerals, etc for the annual check up. Came on into work and caught a towel on fire, put the fire out, ran the coffee pot over, and fought with the printer. What a morning and it is only 8:30 am. That is enough and the rest of the morning should be grand.
Ceejay...Menopause is absolutely hilarious. I went a couple of years ago to see it here. You will truly enjoy it.
Michelle...Don't over exercise and get yourself into a pickle. Gingerly work your way into it. Glad you feel better about the ex. It is nice to stay on good terms at least with the ex SIL. I still do not care, AT ALL, for my ex. As a matter of fact, I see a lawyer next week about collecting $$ he owes me on unpaid medical, college, and auto insurance fees. Right around 12K. Even taking him back to court probably won't do much, however I need to get it into the works as the statute of limitations runs out in about a year.
Shad...Glad you are back to work. Have a safe trip home and chat you up when you return.
Going to get laundry done tonight, supposed to have an eye appt at 4:oo today, however I only have 4 bucks till tomorrow and no $$ for the co-pay. Maybe they will get the joke.
Have a great Thursday.
Love and Hugs and I need a attitude adjustment. I am in a foul mood.
Pray for me.
02-12-2009, 10:06 AM
Good morning ladies,
Quick check in for me as I want to get out of the house a little earlier today. Having a sneezy, coughy sinus kind of morning. Don't know why - the sun is shining and although there's a morning chill, it's looking to be a pretty nice day. Go figure  We're on coffee ration this morning as we are low on creamer and Mr. Feral has decided to grace us with his presence by sleeping in his bed on the porch. That means we can't get to the garage refrigerator which has all the stock  I got my morning coffee and there's enough creamer for 1 cup for DH, he will just have to make do.
Michelle - I remember now exactly where Bass Pro is. That's a large shopping center, I wonder how they are fairing during these down times. I think they relied on bus tours of people coming by to visit the outlet stores. But perhaps Bass is enough of a draw to keep them all going. Not being a sporting person myself, I can't say I ever stepped foot in one or had reason to. We have Gander Mountain and Bass Pro out here too. I'm glad to hear that you have dealt with your stress as best as possible and are moving on.
I'm not sure how weigh in will go tomorrow - I did stick with the fresh fruit I cut up for our meeting last night. But one woman brought the most wonderful brushetta and little garlic toasts. I had 2 and I could feel the salt just puffing up every cell in my body. And I had 2 small cubes of baby swiss cheese after everyone raved at how good they were. I stayed well within points, I'm just worried about the salt, not sure I can drink it away by this morning's weigh in.
Glad you got back to NZ safe Shad. Hope the weather clears up some for you to enjoy the outdoors, even if the point was to visit with friends and family  That's great (I hope) that you have another job lined up. You sure don't have to wait long and that's a good thing.
Annie - you are a real hero this morning. Giving that much blood - geez that's enough to make you woozy and anemic. :dracula: It almost counts as a blood donation  Will you have to do that always or just a few years post op? AND AND AND - you prevented a forest fire at work? Hurray for you! These coffee drinkers just don't think about what they are doing. We have pots overheating with crudded up coffee from ignoramuses that leave 1/8 of a cup in the pot on the rather hot plate. It happens on a daily basis throughout the building and I'm surprised it doesn't start fires too. Sounds like you are the angel of the building - just swooping through and taking care of things. Either that or you have become the "dorm mom" Hope your mood cheers up. Sometimes you just have to stop a sec, refocus and think of 3 things you are grateful for in your life to change your thinking. And some days you just need to get a little :rollpin: out of your system  If all else fails, find someone you're not particularly fond of, hold your arm out, line up their heads between your thumb and index finger and do a quick squeeze and pinch their heads off  Works for me. Especially on the road. Lately they have taken to shooting each other over road rage so pinching is a better method than yelling.
Gotta run, love to all the chicks.
02-12-2009, 10:32 AM
OMG Happy....you are so funny, that in itself put me in a better mood. Yep, dorm mom, um angel, don't think so...hehe. Will keep the pinching method in the front of my mind. lol
02-12-2009, 02:35 PM
Happy Thursday ladies -
It's been a busy day today. Tonight, I'm going to the gym to do some strength training, stretching and as much cardio as I can do until the back pain starts to kick in (even if it's only 10 minutes).
DH and I don't have any big plans for the weekend. We may go out to dinner tomorrow night, or I may just cook something yummy. DH has to work on Saturday, and I'll probably have a bit of website work to do, along with house cleaning. Then on Sunday (and Monday since we're both taking that day off), we'll be doing spring cleaning/organizing in the basement. It'll be nice to have the house more or less clean (except for the upstairs), and have the basement organized. Hopefully I'll be able to do all the housework without aggravating my back too much....but if I do, I have pain meds and muscle relaxers! :o
Talk to you later, chicks.
02-12-2009, 02:35 PM
Shad - Great to hear from you! Glad you made it to NZ okay. Congrats on getting a job! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Annie - Wow, they sure took a lot of blood for your tests. I hope your day has calmed down a bit...you had quite an exciting morning.
Happy - I hope your weigh in goes well and that your sinuses clear up. There were a lot of cars and people at the mall...but since I've never been there before, I don't know if it was just as many folks as prior to the economy going bad. I am trying to move on....just keeping the focus on the present and how lucky I am to have such a wonderful DH.
A big  to everyone!
Love and hugs to all,
02-12-2009, 03:59 PM
I love Bass Pro but the last time I was there was when my nephew graduated high school. He's now 26. This Bass Pro, in Springfield, MO had a resturant where you could look down over the store. I loved all the stuffed animals. and glass elevators. It's geared for sportsman.
Hugs. Sending you good vibes today. This mood will lift.
How was your weigh in?
Enjoy your visit--just stay away from those fires.
This has been a busy week for me. I've had thunderstorms, winds in excess of 52 mph and a trainee that decided he didn't want to do anything except watch tv.on top of all the other things I'm supposed to do. I was ready to sleep in this morning and greatful for my 4 day's off this week. The boss also had gotten a chance to get some things fixed this week which helps a lot but there is one major thing that is getting to be a hassle in itself that needs to be fixed. I told the boss yesterday that he may have to replace that next.
I'm loving the fact that the days are getting longer. I'm so ready to get outside and do some yard work. Today I'm tackling some repairs in the bathroom. Yes, I could call the land lord but I like to do things like this. I will call him about the leak under the sink in the bathroom.
Tomorrow I'm getting my hair cut and will be going back to Paragould.
02-12-2009, 04:03 PM
I forgot to mention that I've lost 1 pound. I'm down to 184.2
02-12-2009, 04:13 PM
Congratulations on the weight loss, Ceejay! That's wonderful!
02-13-2009, 08:50 AM
Happy Friday ladies -
It's awfully quiet in here. Of course it is early. I went to the gym last night and did an entire strength training class followed by a little cardio until my back started hurting.
I have PT this afternoon, which will hopefully help my back and hamstrings feel not so tight.
I found a back brace/belt yesterday that I'll wear this weekend for spring cleaning. Hopefully that will keep my back from getting sore quickly.
I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday!
Love and hugs,
02-13-2009, 09:51 AM
RATHER THAN TRY AND CATCH UP WITH EVERYONE FOR THE MONTH...I WILL START ON THIS PAGE.
I WENT TO A DERMATOLIGIST YESTERDAY AND HE SAW ENOUGH IMPROVEMENT AND CANCELLED ALL THE OTHER VISITS AND ALSO THE EYE DR UNTIL THE END OF NEXT MONTH. TO HIM I LOOK "GORGEOUS"....TO ME I LOOK TERRIBLE AND HAVE EYE PROBS STILL AND UGLY FACE. I TOLD HIM MAYBE HE SHOULD KEEP MY EYE APPOINTMENT AS HE NEEDS NEW GLASSES!!! HE IS THE HEAD OF THE CLINIC AND TOOK OVE MY CASE WHEN HE SAW HOW SERIOUS THIS WAS. I FEEL A BIT DEPRESSED BECAUSE PATIENCE IS NOT MY STRONG SUIT! :tantrum: AND ANOTHER PROBLEM HAS BEEN THE WEATHER. WITH THE MILD AND UBER STRONG WINDS WE ARE HAVING HE HAS ASKED ME TO LIMIT MY OUTDOOR TIME TO ZILCH AND TAKE ZYRTEC DAILY WHEN I DO GO OUT. :faint: SO NOW I CAN GO OUT MEDICATED AND FALL ASLEEP WHILE I AM DRIVING:scooter: I AM SORRY TO REPORT THAT I GAINED 3 POUNDS THESE PAST WEEKS. MINDLESS EATING
BUT I DO SEE ABOVE ME THAT CEEJAY HAS LOST A POUND!! :cheer3: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cheer2:
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AND STAY SAFE.
02-13-2009, 09:53 AM
MICHELLE...I JUST NOW SEE YOUR POST ALSO. HOPE THE BACK BEGINS TO FEEL BETTER. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY TAI CHI AND YOGA. LOTS OF GOOD STUFF FOR LOSING WEIGHT AND MORE GENTLE TO THE BACK. I USED SITTING TAI CHI AND LOST 30 LBS THAT WAY WITH THE EATING PLAN I WAS ON.
02-13-2009, 10:01 AM
Welcome Back, Mel! It's so great to hear from you! We definitely missed you. I'm glad to hear the doctor thinks you are doing better. Listen to his instructions.
Yoga is helping my back. Since it's only offered at the gym once a week (and they don't offer tai chi), I'll do the yoga DVD at home on days I don't go to the gym.
02-13-2009, 01:06 PM
Annie, Happy and Ceejay - I hope you all are having great Fridays!
02-13-2009, 02:58 PM
Happy Friday!!! Yeah!!
Ceejay....WTG with the loss! So proud, keep pounding away at it! VICTORY!!
Michelle...the exercise queen is back, you rock sista!!
MEL...welcome back girlie...and your are gorgeous!
The ole federal tax return was deposited into my account today...whew who. Won't be there long as I have bills to pay, but mighty glad it is there to pay the bills. To bad I owe state taxes...$247.00.
Guess what....Tony said, "I love you" for the first time last night. What a way to end a crappy day at work. I was shocked. It was so cute... Yes, I am a sucker.
Here is Ms. Olivia Anne's valentine picture. I could kiss her all up.
Hi to all, have a marvelous Valentine's Weekend.
Love and Hugs,
02-13-2009, 03:23 PM
Annie - Congrats on hearing those 3 little words from Tony! That's wonderful! Have a wonderful Valentines Day weekend! Thanks for sharing the adorable photo.
02-13-2009, 11:30 PM
It is so good to see you back. Hugs. Don't over do.
Yeah for those three letter words and just as Valentines day approaches, hmm wonder if there is something else on the horizon. Olivia Ann is a little doll.
Take it easy on the cleaning this week end. You don't have to do it all at one time.
Where are you?
The drive to Paragould was a lot better than last week. The lineman have been busy little beavers. It's beginning to look more normal.
I stopped and got my hair cut today.
My uncle has been getting estimates on getting his trees cut. He hired someone today.
Hello to Shad who is on vacation, Patti, Ruth, and Madcat.
02-14-2009, 08:22 AM
Happy Saturday ladies -
I'm up early this morning. I have to get some website work done, run some errands and then come back and clean. I'm hoping to get the living room and most of the basement done by tomorrow so that we can relax on Monday (since both DH and I have the day off). Or we may spend Monday during the day finishing the cleaning and relax Monday evening. :)
DH and I may go out to dinner tonight...or I may be too tired from cleaning, which would save money and calories.
Happy - I hope you're okay.
Ceejay - Glad your drive to Paragould was good. Enjoy your weekend with family.
Shad - I hope you're enjoying your vacation!
A big  to Mel, Patty, Ruth and everyone else!
Love and hugs,

:cofdate: THANKS FOR THE WELCOME BACK. AND HAVE I SAID THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD THOUGHTS I KNOW YOU ALL SENT TO ME? I HELD ON TO THE THOUGHT OF THEM AND IT GOT ME BACK HERE. YESTERDAY WAS GOOD BUT TODAY IS EVEN BETTER....THE 3 LBS I LOST ARE GONE AND THEY TOOK A FRIEND ALONG WITH THEM. I AM BACK TO 185 NOW AND A VERY HAPPY CAMPER
IF THE RIGHT EYE WOULD JUST COOPERATE I WOULD FEEL SOOOO MUCH BETTER. VISION IS THE PITS BUT THAT'S THE ROSACEA AND THE CATARACTS AND ALSO THE UNCORRECTABLE VISION. THE DERM DR FAXED THE OFFICE A NOTE FOR ME. HE IS NOT GOING TO RECOMMEND ANY KIND OF CATARACT SURGERY FOR ME. TOO CHANCY WITH THE ROSACEA. SO I WILL HAVE TO "FEEL" MY WAY AROUND....NOT BAD WHEN THE FIREMEN ARE HERE :flame: :belly: LIKE ANNIE...THE IRS PUT MY REFUND IN THE BANK YESTERDAY. BEFORE I COULD GO NUTS, I MADE ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS SO I CAN STICK WITH MY "NO MORE BILLS" GOAL FOR N2009. I EXPECT TO BE SHOT OF BILLS THIS YEAR:cb:
HAPPY SATURDAY!!! :moped:
MICHELLE~ HOPE THE 3 DAY WEEKEND IS A GREAT ONE...AND ENJOY THE MEAL IF YOU DO GO OUT!
CEEJAY~ DID THE UNCLE LOSE TREES FROM THAT ICE STORM? SORRY TO HEAR THAT IF IT IS. GLAD THE TRIP WENT WELL. YOU REMINDED ME....I NEED A HAIRCUT...MEET YOU AT THE BEAUTY SHOP!!
ANNIE~ CONGRATULATIONS ON THE I LOVE YOU! I AM A SUCKER FOR WORDS TOO!! LOVED THE PIC OF OLIVIA!! HOW ADORABLE :bb:

Happy V day to everyone,
SO good to see you back MEl. I know how much everyone here misses you when you are not popping in to keep everyone in line. Hope the vision will clear a bit better for you in the near future.
Hello to all the Worldlies and lurkers. Hope this finds everyone well and enjoying this weekend.
I am off to do some chores and determined to do my treadmill today!
02-14-2009, 12:29 PM
So good to see you.
Yes my uncle's tree's were lost due to the ice storm. He's hired a clean up crew. It's going to look a lot better in my opinion with the under brush and some tree's removed, as long as they don't cut down my favorite tree.
Glad to hear the Yoga is helping your back. I'd like to have a class in that to get me started. That is a good way to stretch.
Today is the time for the uncle's to get together for lucnch and I'm looking forward to it.
02-14-2009, 12:30 PM
Hi Mel - Congrats on all the pounds lost! That's great. Sorry to hear that your vision is still a problem, but feeling your way around fireman doesn't sound too bad. ;) Seriously, I hope your vision and the rosacea both improve soon.
Rose - Good for you for getting chores and the treadmill done today!
Happy Valentines day to all!
Love and hugs,

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !
What a week. I got my results in the mail, but no call from doctor  So not sure what that means. I'm still on track with my workouts though. It's so hard to get back on track. I can't believe how fast we lose our strength.
Annie - Those 3 little words. How they make us feel.
Mitchellez - hope you get all your errans ran. Enjoy your evening with hubby.
Mel - congrats on your 3 lb loss.
Ceejay - have a good visit with your uncle.
Hello to everyone else. Hope your having a great day.
02-15-2009, 12:44 AM
Today was wonderful. The "Movin Out" Broadway Show was terrific. Dinner was at Bazbaeux (pronounced BAZ Boes) Kind of a unique pizza joint. We walked from the show to the pizza joint, then back to the car. it was quite cold but put 1500 steps on my pedometer. Then we can back home from some fun....wink wink. What a grand day.
Happy Heart Day to all
Love and hugs.
02-15-2009, 09:46 AM
RENAE~ THANKS FOR THE GOOD WISHES AND HOPE YOU DIDN'T GET MORE SNOW. I WAS WATCHING THE WEATHER CHANNEL!! :brr: NOW GO AND GET ON THAT TREADMILL!!:rollpin:
JEANETTE~ I LOVE THAT NAME. LOVE YOUR AVATAR TOO. TIE A YELLOW RIBBON ROUND THE OLD OAK TREE...LA LA LA THEN YOU WILL SAVE YOUR FAVORITE TREE!!! ENJOY THE UNCLES!!
MICHELLE~ HOPE YOUR BACK IS FEELING OK TOO AND YOU DIDN'T DO TOO MUCH CLEANING TO AGGRAVATE IT!
PATTY~ I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE TESTS WERE FOR BUT HOPE THE RESULTS WERE GOOD. WHAT'S GOING ON THAT I MISSED??? SENDING A HUG
ANNIE~ HOPE YOU AND YOUR MAN HAD A GREAT HEART'S DAY TOO :val3:
:cofdate: GOOD MORNING CHICKS OF THE WORLD!! IT'S A BIT NIPPY ON THE BIPPY HERE IN NJ TODAY. LAST NIGHT WAS BACK IN THE LOW 20'S :brr: LORD I AM SICK OF THIS WEATHER. HEAR MY PLEA FOR SPRING :yoga:
I HAVE BEEN TRYING THE ZYRTEC AS THE DR SAYS HE HAS HAD GOOD RESULTS WIT IT. IT MAKES ME A BIT SLEEPY AND I NEED DULCOLAX WITH IT BUT I THINK THERE IS A DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT WITH IT....OR IT'S WISHFUL THINKING.
I CAN FEEL MY SENSE OF HUMOR RETURNING..NOT THAT IT WAS LOST ALL TOGETHER BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
THE KIDS CALLED LAST NIGHT. THE "DAD" IS BEING IMPOSSIBLE...SO RICHIE AND HIS BROTHER ASKED IF THEY COULD COME HERE AFTER NOON CHURCH FOR THE MOM'S FRIST ANNIVERSARY OF HER DEATH. I THINK THEY FEEL THE NEED TO BE WITH A MOM-TYPE. THEY ARE BRINGING FOOD AND SOME ASST DVDS. I TOLD THEM THE ONLY CONDITIONS ARE TO LEAVE THE FATHER-DRAMA OUTSIDE THE DOOR AND THEY MUST TURN OFF THEIR CELL PHONES. THIS IS A CELEBRATION OF HIS MOM'S LIFE AND HER LOVE FOR HER 2 SONS.... NOT THE UNCARING RANTINGS OF AN "OLD" AND SELFISH MAN.
YESTERDAY I BAKED A TURKEY MEATLOAF, HARD-BOILED EGGS, MADE OATMEAL, STEAMED VEGGIES AND RICE. GOOD THING TOO...DIDN'T KNOW COMPANY WAS COMING AND I WOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THIS DONE WITH 4 OTHER PEOPLE HERE!! SO I AM ALL SET FOR THE NEW WEEK TO BEGIN WITH MY FOOD. :D
WISHING SHAD IS HAVING A GOOD TIME WITH THE SISTER ETC. THE NEWS OUT OF OZ WAS TERRIBLE WITH THOSE FIRES AND JUST KEEPS ON GETTING WORSE. TERRIBLE TRAGEDY.
HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A GREAT WEEKEND.
HAPPY SUNDAY :moped:
02-15-2009, 10:23 AM
Morning Worldlies, Wow Mel now that seems more like the normal day having a terrific post from you to get up off on the right foot in the morning. I did not hit the treadmill but got my 10000 steps in just cleaning my house. It is a slow process for me. It seems never ending moving one pile to another and then finally finding a proper place for it all. Finally after being in this house by myself I am deciding to do little things that just suit me. Moving dishes into other cupboards and liking it much better. Definitely have the old mommy pleasing wifey pleasing syndrome where I didn't even know that it could all be better to just please me......This house is still full of everyone stuff that no longer live here and I am still accomodating it........ SOOOOOOO needless to say it is a slow process but I AM making headway!!!!! New goal for the new year!
SO glad for all of you who had a special someone to spend the day with and enjoying others company. We must always remember just how fleeting and quickly life can change.
Had anyone on the thread checked out the 50 million pound challenge?
Have a great Sunday all and enjoy your free time. Mel have a good day with the your group coming over. No matter how old we are the loss of a Mother is probably one of the hardest passages of life.
Blessings to all,
02-15-2009, 12:35 PM
Howdy chicks, sorry to be absent. Just alot of disruptive stuff going on. I will try and get back later. Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day  to all.
02-15-2009, 03:57 PM
I'll get this in before I go charging off into the wild blue yonder for my walk. I have a challenge going with a friend that I will do at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise at least two times a week. And I know that if I do not do this thing first thing in the week, then it won't get done at all.
I had a nice time in NZ and now I am back. It was good to see Chris again even if she is not as well as she would like to be. Apparently she is having trouble adjusting the medication and it is taking time to get to the right doses again. Doctors in NZ have not had much to do with Churg Strauss and have to liaise with her Japanese doctor for help. At least she is getting help - that is good.
And as you heard I have a new job. I am going to work in Melbourne with a bit of travel as well to different places. I have a three month contract with a distinct possibility of renewal. I'll be working for a Wind turbine company this time. Haven't had much to do with the wind turbines before - so something new to learn. I'll be moving out of here on Friday and start work next Monday. I'll probably stay with my friend Ruth for a while until I can get a serviced apartment or something in town. Or maybe not, maybe I won't mind the commute and just stay there. It's not that far out of town.
Mel - just because the kids are coming over, just do not overdo things - y'hear???? Have fun. We should talk before I go away.
Michelle - same advice to you. Do not overdo that back!
Rose - Good to see you back and posting
Cejay - hope the spasms are now a distant memory
Annie - glad to hear you had such a good time for Valentines day. Didn't seem to be a lot going on for that in NZ. Or maybe I just wasn't in the right places.
Better go sort out my day. I'll be back
02-15-2009, 04:50 PM
Hi ladies --
Well, we got as much cleaning done in the basement as we're gonna get done this week. The trash can is full to the brim. We did make a lot of progress with the cleaning, but it will probably take another couple weeks to finish. My back is doing much better than I thought it would. It was actually fun to do the cleaning with my DH.
Shad - Glad you had a nice time in NZ.
Happy - Great to hear from you! i hope everything is okay.
Rose - Nice to hear from you too.
Mel - Hope you're doing okay.
I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I'll be back later today or tomorrow and write more then.
Love and hugs to all,
02-15-2009, 08:16 PM
Just a not to say hi. Not much going on.
Glad you like my name.
I bought a new toy yesterday, an all in one printer, copier and scanner. I'm getting it downloaded on the computer. For some reason it is taking a long for the computer to find the printer. However, I've already scanned a couple of pictures into the computer. Go figure.
Have a good day ladies.
02-15-2009, 09:40 PM
I'm so tired of being sick. I spent 4 hours in emergency room today. I have been having a pain in my right upper side, right below the breastbone. We'll yesterday the pain got worse and i went to my back. I thought, gallbadder. I was going to wait until monday, but pain got worse. Went to ER, they did a sonogram and nothing. No stones, nothing. I'm so frustrated. They told me to followup with a GI doctor. I'm just falling apart. I have got to get my health back.
Ceejay - have fun with your new toy. I've been looking at a new one of those to. I actually need to get a new pc.
Mitchellez - are you just cleaning out basement or planning to do something in there?
Shad - Wind turbines? We have lots of wind turbines in West Texas where the wind is.
Rose - Do what my mom did. After being out on my own for over 15 years, she invited me and my sisters over for sunday dinner. As we finished up and were getting ready to leave, she walked us to the back bedroom and said here is your stuff. Take it or I'll get rid of it for you. We were like "mom".. i don't have room, she was like you have more room then me. Needless to say I took my stuff and to this day it's still in the garage :)
Annie - wink, wink. hope you enjoyed your evening
Mel - We'll i broke out in hives in sept, still not feeling good, doc ran test in dec, test had some high markers, he sent me to a rumatologist (sp), they ran test and i got results i mail this past week, but no phone call. I too am on zyrtec, i take up to 3 a day for hives.

SHAD...JUST NAME THE DAY AND TIME....AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT'S A GOOD ONE. ANY TIME AFTER MY 4PM IS GOOD. THE BATTLE WITH THE GOVT FOR MY MONTHLY CHECK RAGES ON. GOOD LUCK ON THE CHALLENGE. WILL IT CONTINUE WHEN YOU GO AWAY TO THE NEW JOB??? NO I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HAD A NEW JOB... BUT IT SOUNDS GOOD AND HOPE YOU WILL LIKE IT! I AM GLAD THE VISIT WAS GOOD. THANKS FOR THE UPDATE..I WAS WONDERING HOW CHRIS WAS DOING.
HAPPY~ AND A HOWDY DOODY TO YOU AS WELL  HOPE THE DISRUPTIVE STUFF GOES AWAY!!!!
ROSE~ A FEW YEARS AGO I BEGAN THE "CLEANSING" OF THE HOUSE AND MY OWN HEAD OF THE PLEASING SYNDROME. IT IS A WONDERFULLY FREEING EXPERIENCE AND THE JOURNEY CONTINUES. HAVE FUN SORTING AND TOSSING!!
CEEJAY~ AS NEW TOY :cb: I LOVE NEW TOYS LIKE THAT. I JUST WISH THE MACHINES ALL WORKED TOGETHER FASTER..SOMETIMES MY PRINTER SEEMS "LOST"....ONE DAY MY COMPUTER TOLD ME I HAD NONE!!! :tantrum: AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I FINALLY REALIZED I HAD TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER. :faint:
PATTY~ I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE HIVES. I HAVE ALSO FELT WEIRD PAINS IN THE SAME AREA AND WHEN THEY DID AN ULTRASOUND THERE WAS NOTHING. THE DR SAID IT WAS PROBABLY GAS  I USE PAPAYA ENZYMES FOR MY DIGESTION NOW. GLD BLESS YOU WITH 3 ZYRTEC!!! I WOULD BE COMATOSE!! HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON
:cofdate: YESTERDAY WENT VERY WELL. EVERYONE WAS QUIET AND CALM IN THE END. THEY ARE A RATHER HYPER BUNCH AND I HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN I DEAL WITH THEM I STAY SILENT AND LET THEM RUN AT THE MOUTH. THEY SLIP INTO SPANISH WITHOUT EVEN REALIZING IT. BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS A GOOD TIME. RICHIE EVEN BOUGHT ME A ROASTED CHICKEN TO MAKE SURE I COULD EAT SOMETHING KNOWING I CANNOT HAVE ANY SPICES. JEN AND RICHIE ARE HERE AND WILL COME DOWN TODAY FOR SOME QUIET TIME. THAT'S MOVIES AND NO TALKING. I AM TIRED BUT DIDN'T OVER DO IT.
GONNA HOP INTO THE SHOWER AND GET SOME COZY JAMMIES ON. TOMORROW IS FOOD SHOPPING. I AM PRAYING SOME MAKE-UP JEN BOUGHT ME WILL HIDE THIS SCALY, SCABBY MESS:lol3: :lol3:
HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY :moped:
02-16-2009, 10:19 AM
It's back to the grind this morning minus the boss who is on vacation.
It's actually his anniversary.
Got the printer to work. I've scanned a couple of pictures and sent them to my niece one at a time. One day I'll learn to do multiple pictures. They are makiing a memory book of their brother who was killed 3 years ago for his children who were both babies at the time.
Will be back later. I'm needing to do some things at work. We are haviing to go to the lime room every 15 minutes now. I'm really getting tired of this. We are waiting for a man to come hook up a motor. I thought Tim could do that but there may be some other thing that needs to be done as well.Oh well, just more steps to accumulate on my pedometer.
02-16-2009, 10:59 AM
Monday already, how the time is flying by. I had a very disruptive Friday and Saturday. I wanted to step up my weight loss efforts so Sunday I decided to "get more with the program" for WW. I sat an figured out a more even distribution for points and started hunting up recipes for meal planning as well as making a list of one or two point snacks. Took me 3 bloody hours!!!!! And that was just to make a grocery list and a meal plan. I still had to go out and shop. So most of my day yesterday was blown away.
I pulled into the driveway last night and DH starts ringing me up on the cell. He's looking at me sitting in the car and pointing to the phone. I'm thinking - now why's he calling me when he can see me sitting here as I frantically search for the cell phone in the cavern of my purse. Turns out Mr. Feral who we haven't seen in quite a bit has decided to bed down for a nap and I would have made him bolt had I come through the garage. So DH was warning me. It was rather cold so I opened the car windows and left the groceries in the car for a bit. He settled down to sleep and after 30 minutes I checked on him and there's our dumb cat sitting on the mat outside staring at him. I'm surprised she got that close as she hates him and hisses at him every chance she gets. We had to let her in which made Mr. Feral sit up. He was looking really sleepy but instead of curling back up, he just sat there. So we fed him. Poor guy hurt his leg again and he's hobbling on 3 legs. I wonder just how many lives that poor guy has in him. DH says he has cataracts. We're thinking he isn't that steady jumping fences any more and must have caught his leg again. He ate and disappeared. We made a bed for him in the shed if he decided to hang out there instead. I expected to see him this morning but no sign yet.
Ceejay - what kind of printer did you buy? We just got an HP All In One, printer/scanner/fax. That's a great idea about the memory book. Also with the walking that's a great way to put a positive spin on an otherwise stressful/aggrivating situation - at least I got more steps in  I do that too when I have to walk back and forth across the office.
Mel - maybe I'll try you on a weekday after 4 also. But with the time difference after I get home from work and get us fed, it might be too late for you. Hope you enjoyed the food shopping. Hope the make up worked for you. I know how uncomfortable it can feel but probably most people don't even pay much heed to how others look. It was nice of you to play "mom" to Richie and his brother.
Patty - sorry you aren't feeling well and seem to be in a spiral of one thing after another. Don't let it get you down. Sometimes it's just - all I want to do is just feel good/normal for a change! Very frustrating when you don't feel your best and the docs say nothing is wrong. :tantrum:
Michelle - glad your back is feeling better. I was going to suggest getting one of those back supports. DH uses it when he's doing yard work and he says it helps. That's alot of trash - sounds like you made some great headway in the basement. We don't have basements here and with the excessive heat you don't really want to store much in the attic eaves so maybe it's better that we don't have the extra room to store stuff.
Shad - glad to hear you landed another contract. Will that take you closer to the fires? Wind turbines sounds much more interesting than mining  Guess poor Sunday will have to be saying bye to her spotty room mate and reaquainting herself with the DS
Good morning Rose!
Annie - glad you had a great time with Tony. Enjoy the huggy times now, won't be long before love means he excuses himself after he burps and scratches in front of you
Well it appears the Canadians have abandoned us and Shad is our only link to keeping us Worldlies. We will just have to give her dual citizenship and make this a Yankee thread
02-16-2009, 03:39 PM
God Bless It....where does my post keep going?
02-16-2009, 03:43 PM
MEL...here comes spring...only 32 days. March 20 is right around the corner. This month is already half over.
Shad...Goodluck on the new job. Learning new things keeps are minds alert and fresh, either that or in great termoil....I heard they have a suspect in the fire down there. Good they should roast his b*lls.
Michelle...now that is one romantic Valentine's day....sharing housework with the DH. You sure know how to celebrate...haha
Ceejay....kewl a new toy. They are fun. We have a scanner/printer and just love it. It is a Dell.
1 day...girl you do need to get healthy. It has been plenty long enough with that mess.
Happy...poor Mr. Feral, hope he is ok. Way to go on tackling the better way of living and getting the groceries needed to do just that. I am proud of you.
Hello to those I may have missed.
Love and hugs...
02-17-2009, 02:30 AM
Have been having a sort of 'hurry up and wait ' day. It's rained on and off so I have been racing out to rescue washing etc, running with the lawn mower between showers etc.
I'm sort of checking on accommodation as well. I've booked a flight to get to Melbourne on Saturday and it is interesting trying to find the place on St Kilda road. One map tells me it is in the middle between town and St Kilda and another states it is right in St Kilda itself. Guess I will have to try again or call the big T to tell me where to go (or maybe not - he may tell me to go someplace I don't want to be!)
Made some lunches for the DS2 to take to work as well. He will be pleased with the ol' Mum tonight - well maybe. I've also folded up the rescue washing, done the ironing and checked out the wardrobe for what to take south with me. Haven't done a lot of work around the house though damn it all.
Mel - tomorrow or the next day sound fine to me. That's my Wednesday or Thursday and your Tuesday and Wednesday.
And with that I'd better go see what gives in the kitchen. DS2 will be home for tea shortly. Better go scrounge up something. Have a great day.......
02-17-2009, 08:59 AM
Good morning ladies -
Just a quick check in for now as I'm trying to get caught up at work after the long weekend. It'll be a crazy busy day today that's for sure.
I hope you all have a great day.
Love and hugs,
02-17-2009, 09:17 AM
JEANETTE~ THE MEMORY BOOK IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL IDEA. HOW SWEET IS THAT. I AM SURE THE KIDS WILL LOVE IT. SO VERY THOUGHTFUL OF EVERYONE. HOPE YOU GET THE LIME ROOM STRAIGHTENED OUT. :running:
HAPPY~ POOR OLD MR FERAL. HE MUST STILL HAVE A FEW LIVES LEFT IN HIM. HE'S LIKE THE TIMEX KITTY! KEEPS ON TICKING. GOOD LUCK WITH THE MEAL PLAN. HEALTHY LIVING SURE IS TIME CONSUMING!! I FORGET OUR TIME DIFFERENCE. I GET IN BED BETWEEN 7:30 & 8 PM NOW AND WATCH TV FROM THERE AT NIGHT. GIVING MY BACK AND EYES A BREAK. ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I CANNOT TALK LYING DOWN ANYMORE. CAUSES SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND COUGHING. GO FIGURE. SORRY TO BE SUCH A PAIN WITH THIS BUT IT SEEMS MY LIFE IS CHANGING AND I AM TRYING MY BEST TO ADAPT :faint:
ANNIE~ SENDING LOVE AND HUGS BACK TO YA. DON'T YA HATE WHEN A POST JUST FLIES AWAY??:tantrum:
SHAD~ TOMORROW IS GOOD. WEDNESDAY MIGHT BE. I WILL FREE UP THE LINE FOR BOTH DAYS. NOT A PROBLEM AS I'M NOT REALLY ON IT!! WHEN YOU SAID WIND TURBINES DID YOU MEAN FOR GIANT MACHINES OR THOSE NEW WINDMILL THINGS THAT ARE SPROUTING UP ALL OVER THE PLACE?
WILL CHAT SOON.
MICHELLE~ SAYING HELLO BACK TO YA!! HAVE A SUPER DAY.
:cofdate: AS YOU CAN SEE I AM STILL HERE. TRIED THE MAKEUP AND IT IS STILL BURNING A BIT. YOU CANNT HAVE IT ON YOUR FACE WHILE IT'S DOING THAT...IT ACTUALLY BURNS THE NEW SKIN UNDER THE DRIED BITS AND MAKES MATTERS WORSE. BUT I THINK THAT BY WEEK'S END I WILL BE ABLE TO WEAR SOME OR AT LEAST BY MONDAY OR SO.
I WILL FIND SOMETHING TO OCCUPY THIS WEEK AND JUST STAY CALM BECAUSE FRETTING DOESN'T HELP EITHER :beach:
HAPPY TUESDAY :moped:
02-17-2009, 09:20 AM
Good morning chicks,
A kind of quiet day here. On the cool side again. :( They say it sleeted a bit overnight. Looks dry here but I guess that's what makes it dangerous - you don't expect it. Mr. Feral came by for some food yesterday but for some reason is deciding not to take a snooze. DH and I were watching - the way he's hunched up you can see he's in lots of pain. I wish he would just curl up in his bed. He needs some healing sleep. Not much else going on so maybe I'll get out of here and get to work a bit early today. My refrigerator is full of WW approved lunches this week
Have a good one ladies...
02-17-2009, 09:22 AM
Good morning Mel, I see you are back to posting over me  I understand about the weekday schedules - seems the night flies by for me too. Cripes you are in bed when I'm first getting dinner together! I admire you early to bed peeps - one day I will be one too.
Be careful with that makeup. I know why you want to use it but don't cause yourself more troubles
When do you leave Shad?
02-17-2009, 10:42 AM
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!!
A beautiful day in store for Indiana. Sunny and 45 degrees. Thursday, however is back to 23 degrees. Then a warm up...yeah!!
Shad...Ironing??? I don't iron. If it doesn't come out of the dryer looking good, it goes into the trash!!
MEL....you don't need make-up, you are beautiful without it.
Michelle...good morning to you too! Hope you have a terrific day free of stress.
Happy...Good job on stocking the WW meals. I tried the shrimp marinara last night and it was fabulous. I am going to get me some more.
Going to see the lawyer tonight about taking my ex back to court for $$ he owes me. His support was always up to date, however he owes me for other things. It is funny, but I feel bad taking him back to court. I know he doesn't have the money right now, as the inheritence he is supposed to get did not come through yet, as I thought. Why do I feel like that??
Hello to everyone...
Much love and many hugs,
02-17-2009, 12:53 PM
It's always a good idea to plan ahead.
I wish I could go to bed at 7.30. I'm just gettiing off from work.
Give him (ex) a call first and give a friendly reminder.
Where is Carla and Reenie?
Hello's to Patty, Rose, Ruth and Madcat.
Not much going on.
02-17-2009, 06:21 PM
Been for my walk/ run. It is getting easier, but it is never easy to lose the weight once it goes back on. In actual fact weigh in today was not a pretty sight. Did I say I wanted to put on 4kg this month or lose it???
Mel and I have just finished a long chat. We have put the world to rights so you chickies can rest easy in your beds tonight and tomorrow will be a good day. Good to chat as always Mel. Just carry on being a selfish and self centred old biddy and all the scabbie bits and the nasty things will go away. You can no longer afford the emotion. Go watch Supernanny and take some tips away for yourself as to where to bury the bodies!!!!
Michelle - we can only do what we can do. There is no point is ranting and raving and railing against the amount of work or how much the boss/ job/ politics/ or environment sucks. We each do the best we can and achieve the most we can.
Happy - Mr Feral will do what cats do regardless of whether we think they should sleep, eat or work. Animals march to their own beat - and who is to say it is not better than ours.
I go to Melbourne on Saturday morning. I will be staying with a friend for a few days while I sort out some place to stay in town. It will be fun.
Not sure about the Canadians. I know Carla is lurking - I can feel her there. I think Madcat does as well. Ruth is so busy. Don't know what happened to the others.
I may try to give you a ring before I leave for Melbourne. It will be later in the evening.
Anni - I have only about three things in the entire house that require ironing. I don't use them much!!!! But I don't use a dryer, actually I don't have a dryer in the house. No point when I can hang a load out and bring it back in when I hang out the next load! It's that quick, winter or summer. Summer is actually the worst since we get days of rain at a time. Then I might go down to the laundromat and get my stuff dried.
If the ex acknowledges that he owes you the money, why should you feel bad about claiming it. Mind you the lawyer will probably take at least half of it.
Ceejay - hope all the spasms and muscle pain has gone for you now.
Better get on with my day. It will be an inside sort of day today - mostly anyway as we had rain last night. One of the towns in NSW got flooding rains overnight - they got burnt in the NSW fires recently. Can things get any worse for them???
02-18-2009, 01:25 AM
Carla you little  You are lurking over my head right now :nono:
Get yer bum in here and post. We miss you!
02-18-2009, 01:25 AM
I know you are there - never try and fool and old fool
02-18-2009, 02:26 AM
She still ain't talking to you Happy
02-18-2009, 09:04 AM
shad...always good to set the world to rights with you. your timing was perfect!! i will remain calm!
:cofdate: sorry this is a quick post but i need the phone line fee for the much awaited govt call back. the battle for my monthly check wages on! hopefully someone will be kind enough to call me back!! see you all tomorrow.
be well, stay safe and happy wednesday!
02-18-2009, 09:06 AM
Good morning ladies -
I've got a bit of a sinus thing going on....congested, headache, sore throat. And because of not wanting to make the sore throat or any possible infection migrate to my lungs, I skipped the gym last night. I'll see how I feel tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to go to the gym.
Another busy day at work today....but that's fine. I'm enjoying it. I came in at 6:30 and have to get today's work done by 8:30 because after that I'm going to be in an all day management training class, which hopefully will be good as well.
Anyway, I'll try and check in over lunch.

We dodged a bullet with some bad storms last night. They were swift moving so we only had a light show for about 30 minutes. Lots of banging on the house last night as I lay in bed praying the trees would not come down on the roof and crush us :yikes:
I see you and DH hooked up on Facebook Shad. Happy chatting.
Hope the government comes through for you Mel. :crossed:
Michelle - the sinus stuff is starting all over again here too. I hate it. Into work at 6:30  cripes I'm just greeting the world (sorta) at that time! Have a good class, don't snooze when they turn down the lights
Ok Carla, be that way :snooty: :D
Annie - I don't know why we always feel a bit guilty going after something that is rightfully ours while there are others who don't have a problem :dunno: taking a pass on their responsibilities. Unless the guy is truly down and out (out of work, no food on the table, begging scraps for supper), then just give him a nudge to fork up.
 Ceejay - feeling better?
Was reading an article this morning on the end of the line of rampant consumerism. It's funny, things got so bad we kept asking ourselves, will this never end? I didn't think so. I think it's the culmination of greed going all the way back to the 80's. Sorta glad that DH and I bucked the trend and instead buckled down and paid off bills including our car notes, put money into savings and apart from occasional clothing benders for me and guitars for him, we stayed pretty conservative. Other than the fact that our savings got washed away, we'd doing ok. I'm not so sure I feel that bad for those who lived the high life of excess and greed and now are crying oh poor me. I save my sympathies for the truly hard working decent people who through no fault of their own are losing their jobs and scraping to get by.
Gotta run and get on with the day. See yah.

Happy Hump Day Again....Man, a week sure goes by fast....
Got the last of the trash out for pick up this morning.
Ceejay...I have been nudging and reminding ex about the money he owes me since 2004. No luck. Even sent excel spreadsheet and all receipts of proof for each year. Had to do something, statue of limitations runs out at 6 years on trying to collect.
Happy...he is not down and out, however retired since this past August. Says he is on a fixed income. He wasn't in 04, 05 06 and 07 when he owed me these debts. Mixed feelings for the ole coot. Mostly negative ones...
Michelle...take care of you. Don't let your sickie get too far gone before you take care of it. It will get you down and take longer to get over. Have a great day in training.
Shad...even if the lawyer took half, getting half is better than getting nothing. The lawyer is through our Employee Asst Program here at work. He is charging me by the hour and said maybe it will take up to 500.00. The ole coot owes me 12k, so I can live with the 500 bucks. We are going to try to get attorney fees and court costs out of him also.
49 degrees today, whew whoooooooooooo.
Hello to all

Every time I get started I have to close the sight. The bosses have brought 4 interviewee's, if that's a word, over here today.
You made a good choice in not going to the gym. Always listen to your body.
We had some rain showers. I suppose I slept through most of it. I heard it thunder once.
You know best as to what to do towards the ex. He's probably stalling because of the statue of limitations.
Happy and Shad
Yes I'm feeling a whole lot better. I still can't overdo or those spams return. I need to realize that I'm just not as young as I used to be. I still can't get rid of the cough. I suppose I will always have this drainage but I don't like the sore throat that comes with it. I'm thinking that my cousins daughter and I are passing it back and forth to each other. The ear, nose and throat doc told me not to take the allergy med after frost, but I need them year around. I've started taking them again today.
Hope you get things settled with the gov.
I didn't want to travel this week end but I'm planning on going to the district meeting in Jonesboro, AR tomorrow. The health department has some new ground water rules and since both bosses are interviewing that leaves me to go get the information. ugh. But hey there's a free meal. I'm tired o driving.

Good Morning All..........
Man, I am hungry this morning. The orange I ate for breakfast is NOT cutting it, and it is 3 hours till lunch time. I have a nice salad and leftover homemade Penne Pasta with Italian Sausage for lunch. It is all I can think about. Yikes, can you tell I am getting ready to start? I haven't forgotten about posting the Beef Vegetable soup, I just cannot remember to get my recipe out. I will do that tho, soon.
Had my annual boob smash job this morning. Wasn't too awful bad. Altho mammo's never really hurt or bother me anyway. The older lady tech said, "your breasts are not bad for losing so much weight". I guess that is the bright side to the mammo this morning. lol. Well they are not that good either, is what I said. hahaha
Ceejay...how dare the boss interrupt personal business with work. They obviously don't know how it keeps us sane.
Speaking of work, I had better get busy.
Hello to everyone.
Love and Hugs

Good morning ladies,
Weigh in day. I want to weigh in on Tuesdays. For some reason that's my best day. I hit a new low on Tuesday and I'm up 2 pounds today :tantrum: I guess I have to go find some lightweight clothes in the closet because I've been good otherwise.
Had some roasted asparagus last night. It was so good I gave DH one of my 2 chicken drumsticks in favor of eating all the asparagus. (Not that DH would have even tried it). I was reading on one of the other treads about roasted green beans. I'm convinced now they must be yum yum yummy.
Ceejay - have a good trip to your conference. It's cool but at least dry and sunny.
Annie - if the "old coot" owes you going back several years, I'd say put the squeeze on him. He's had enough time to pay up. Too bad so sad that he's retired and on a fixed income. I hear that excuse alot, most often from the people who could actually squeeze a few extra bucks out. I mean it would be different if the guy had a heart attack, lost his job and insurance and hit the skids but that doesn't seem to be the case. Move before the statute runs out. You'll kick yourself otherwise when he laughs at you.
Michelle - hope you are feeling better. We are on round 2 of sinus fun here as the first spring buds are blooming already. My favorite - the red bud - which is actually a gorgeous purple color is already in bloom. Forsynthia and the Bradford pears shouldn't be far behind. While pretty to look at, they mean alot of hacking and sniffling for most of us. On the other hand, you don't have anyting budding but slush so what gives? :dunno: Do you watch American Idol? Your hometown boy Danny Golkey looks like he could take it all.
How are you doing today Mel? Did you win the "wrasslin" contest yesterday? Pity that everything has to be such a fight. Hope the peepers are doing better. We're on for Saturday.
Would be nice to catch up too Shad. While I have an iron and I use it maybe once a year - mostly to press down those seams that insist on rolling up my body on a few shirts. As much as I like fresh air dried clothes, DH will neverl let me put up a clothes line and I would miss my clothes dryer.
Ok, I was sitting here composing this as DH needed some info so I went on a wild goose chase trying to find it. Now I have to get off the computer and get out of here. So a quick wave to those I have missed
And I was happy to see Mr. Feral snoozing in his bed this morning. :D
02-19-2009, 10:21 AM
Good morning ladies -
Happy Thursday (or Friday for Shad). It's in the single digits today...but at least we didn't get anywhere near the 9" of snow they forecasted for yesterday...we only got 1" to 2".
Today is my ex's b'day, and also my husband's ex-fiance's birthday! Crazy isn't it?? What are the odds?! Out of 365 days in a year, what are the odds that both of our ex's would have the same b'day (a few years apart).
My training class yesterday went really well, and I got a lot out of it. After work, I was still feeling sinusey and my throat was still sore, so I didn't make it to the gym. I'm hoping to go tonight at least for the strength training class and hopefully a bit of cardio too. I just heard from my niece who had lap band surgery a few months ago. She's lost 40 lbs. She said that while she still gets cravings, she knows she can only have a few bites, so she's able to resist. She said that she really doesn't have much desire to eat, but she does eat nutritious foods when she eats. She also goes to the gym 4 or 5 days per week. She explained to me some of the side effects she's having - like hair loss, and if she does eat too much, she gets bad cramping pains. I'm not ready to look into surgery yet. I doubt my insurance would pay for it, and it would mean missed time off work, along with the side effects.
But talking with my niece did give me renewed motivation to go to the gym more often and start tracking my WW points again - starting today. I know WW works for me, as long as I stick to the plan, track points, eat veggies, drink lots of water and exercise. And according to my physical therapist, my back will continue to give me problems off and on until I lose some weight and get fitter/stronger. Yet another health reason to my growing list of reasons to lose weight and get fit. I lost 40 pounds last year, and although I've gained most of it back....I know I can lose weight...because I have lost weight. I know what works for me...I just have to do it. With February nearly over, I've set a goal of losing 2 lbs by 2/28, going to the gym at least 4 times between now and 2/28, drinking at least 64 oz of water daily, eating 4 servings of veggies daily, and tracking points daily. Then I'll set new goals for March.
Patty - I hope you're doing well. What a frustrating weekend at the ER. I hope the docs are able to figure out the cause soon. I know how aggravating it must be for you to have health problems and no one can figure out what it is or why. Hang in there. In answer to your question from the other day, we're just cleaning out the basement and eventually will turn part of it into a darkroom for DH and part of it for exercising...with a small TV, DVD player, Nordic Track, stationery bike, and weights.
Annie - So glad you had a great Valentines Day! Yes, mine was a bit unique...sharing cleaning chores, but it was fun. Here in Wisconsin, spring doesn't start on March 20...no matter what the calendar says. But the Brewers opening day (baseball) is less than 50 days away...so spring is on the way. Just thinking about baseball and tailgating makes me feel warmer already. Annie, I feel the same way about ironing. If it doesn't come out of the dryer looking good, I hang in in the bathroom hoping the shower steam will loosen the wrinkles...if not, it goes back in the washer in hopes that the next time out of the dryer it will be less wrinkled. I hope everything goes well getting the money from your ex. That's a crazy lot of money he owes you. Your temps got near 50 yesterday? I'm SO jealous! We're definitely still in winter-mode here. I can understand why you're hungry this morning, fruit just doesn't cut it for me for breakfast. I need carbs (like breads) and protein. Your lunch sounds really yummy. I hate the annual boob smash - I have to have mine next month. Interesting compliment from the tech!
Ceejay - Your name (Jeanette) is so pretty. I'm glad you're not having any more muscle spasms. Good advice to listen to your body. Make sure you don't overdo either, okay? Sorry to hear you still have a cough. Hang in there. I'm glad the computer found the printer and everythings works nicely together. The memory book is a wonderful idea. Makes me want to create one with photos of my mom and my dad. I hope you have a safe trip and a nice time in Jonesboro.
Mel - So nice that you spent some time with Richie and his brother on Sunday. It's so tough when a parent dies, no matter how old you/they are when it happens. I hope you got things squared away with the govt.
Rose - I totally know what you mean about moving piles around the house. But I don't have the excuse of it being other people's stuff...it's all mine and DH's! :yikes: I've got lots of cleaning left to do...and I do it as my back allows. I haven't checked out the 50 million pound challenge....but now I'm intrigued.
Shad - Good for you for getting moving with the walking! Are you all packed and set to go to Melbourne? What a nice opportunity to spend time with your friend and work in an interesting job too! I feel much better now that you and Mel put the world to rights the other day. Thank you. I'm actually really happy in my job. I work for a good company and have a great boss. Occasionally my workload gets a little overwhelming...but whose doesn't, and I'm very grateful to have this large workload...it's MUCH better than the alternative, right? We have a clothes line in the backyard...but if I put stuff out there now, it would freeze solid. So I only use it in the summer and then mostly for bedding, sleeping bags, etc. Nothing beats the smell of sheets dried outside in the fresh air.
Happy - I'd love to hear more about your more even distribution of points and any good recipes you find. Also your list of 1 or 2 point snacks. Mel is right - Healthy living is time consuming. Can you please share your knowledge with me? What did you make for WW approved lunches? Or are you eating their frozen dinners? I know...packaged food has so much sodium...but it's so much easier. I'll take any suggestions you can offer. I hope your weigh in goes well. They're starting a WW at work program here next week. I've got to figure out if I can afford it or if I just want to try and stick to the program without meetings. So sorry to hear that Mr. Feral is hobbling again. It's so nice that you feed him and give him a cozy place to rest. I think my sinus issues are from all the dust stirred up by last weekend's basement cleaning because you're right....there is NOTHING blooming here, not even crocuses. I haven't been watching Idol, but I have heard great things about Milwaukee's own Danny Golkey - great voice and a great story. I'm gonna have to start watching.
Okay...this is way longer than I had intended...so I'm going to sign off for now and get to work.
Here's to a great day for all of us!
Love and big hugs,
02-19-2009, 12:06 PM
I've decided not to go to the meeting. I have a lot of things to do tthis week end before starting my 12 day work week.
Every one have a good day.
02-19-2009, 03:44 PM
Michelle - nope, I haven't started packing yet. I'm a sucker for the last minute pack. Fortunately I have done it often so I sort of have a list in my head of what is needed. Today I will pack, but finding a place to live is more of a priority this morning. I can stay with my friend for a week or so, but must get my own place in order to claim my tax allowances.
This friend that I will be staying with has had lapband surgery. She had hers some years back. It worked very well at first and she lost a lot of weight. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be doing too much now. She has put some back on. It doesn't teach them what they should be eating and R tends to get reflux from time to time so she has some fluid removed, then she puts on a bit of weight and has the fluid replaced. The reflux comes back. It can be a vicious circle.
Happy - I'll try to sort something out for later today/ your night since I am off early tomorrow morning.
Using the free fresh air and sunlight is a must here given the high electricity costs. My power already costs me around $1K per year. Using the dryer would bung up the price by another third or so. Like water, we need to find more ways of conserving the environment and cutting the costs. Consequently many of us are considering the solar alternatives to water heating and other power costs. We have coal fired power stations here and a few water powered ones. We can no longer afford to waste water and burning fossil fuels is contributing to our pollution problems and the nation as a whole refuses to consider nuclear power stations hence the cost of power rises and we have to conserve somewhere.
Annie - I can't see how one orange would keep any one going until lunch time. I am with your stomach. I need a really good breakfast, that way I can skip lunch if needed and/or snack on fruit later in the day to keep up the energy levels.
Ceejay - bad news on the bosses interupting your time here with us!! Shame, shame!!!!
We had a doozy of a storm last night - real humdinger. The rain was just amazing. Overflowed the guttering and was falling around the house like a great curtain. Still it is nothing like what the rest of the country is getting to the north of us. Large parts of three States now underwater. They had a bit of a cyclone/ deluge in Dampier and the water flooded the mines, washed away the railway in many places. They will be busy up there repairing bits and pieces for the next month or two. Fires still burn down south and South Australia State is completely dry and in absolute drought.
Right - shower, I itch - there's a lot of bitey insects around this morning. Then cleaning and clearing in the fridge, sweep and wash the floors, change the beds and pack - not to mention trying to get out into the garden to pick out a few more weeds - although that may be a lost cause judging by the sunrise and the clouds today. See ya
02-19-2009, 04:08 PM
ooh Shad darn it! I'm not going to be home tonight (my Thursday night). Sorry about that. We will have to try and catch up later if you are heading off. Maybe I can post to you via DH's MySpace page :D
Have a good flight and we'll talk soon!
02-19-2009, 04:15 PM
Okay - I can take the hint that life is more important than talking to me!! I'll be back for weekends from time to time. We'll sort it then
02-19-2009, 08:01 PM
Hey no fair - I am preparing for a very important meeting with my boss's boss and the senior lead team tomorrow. I am still at work and not happy about it!!!!
Now do you feel guilty :s:
02-19-2009, 11:39 PM
Nope, not at all.
I'll be back posting probably after the weekend if not before.
02-20-2009, 08:42 AM
Shad have a safe trip and hope you find great place for work and walking and touring as you like in your new job.
Happy I do hope the meeting went well with all concerned they are lucky to have someone like you making sure all goes well.
Mel, how are you doing? What is happening for you this weekend?
Annie you seem to be enjoying the new job.....hope all is well with you and TOny.
DI, hope you are feeling good and able to get to the gym like you would like to do during the week.
Ceejay hope you aren't working too hard.
Hard to believe how fast the month is flying by once again. I have been trying to be good. Trying to get my 10,000 steps are more in a day. I started an adult yoga class last night that will be beneficial I hope. Have been treating myself to a massage about every 6-8 weeks as a reward for staying on track and good meals. I have lost another 3lbs. am hoping for 2 more by the end of this month.
Keep running the fact that I will be the mother of the groom in Oct and ohhh the thought of all those pics. Geez...... good motivator.
If you can believe such a thing I was rudely awakened in the middle of the night by such a clamor ontop of my roof. It is mating season for owls and I had a pair on top of my bedroom roof in the middle of the night.
Well, ladies I do hope this finds everyone well and making good progress on all your to do lists. My cleaning through rooms and drawers and closets continues.....it is really so good to get some of these tasks behind me.... I made a list of all the house plants in my house and I have 45 pots to take care of..... geez... Love the green!
Blessings & Peace,
02-20-2009, 08:47 AM
Happy Friday ladies -
I had physical therapy yesterday, which went really well. She gave me some exercises to do and we talked about what exercises/movements I should do during my classes at the gym and which ones I should avoid. She stretched out my quads, hamstrings and back, and made a few spots go snap crackle pop. Last night at the gym, I did 1/2 hour of strength training and 1/2 hour of Zumba (a new dance class they are offering). I'm a little sore today, but doing fine otherwise, except that I don't feel like working on the projects I have going. Hopefully, I'll feel a bit more motivated after breakfast and coffee.
Shad - Safe travels. Enjoy your time with your friend and I hope the new job goes well. It's too bad that your friend with the lapband surgery is still having challenges.
Happy - I hope the weigh in went well...and I hope your meeting today goes well also.
Patty - I hope you're doing okay.
Ceejay - A 12 day work week?? That's crazy! I hope you get quite a bit of time off after that. Hang in there.
Mel - I hope you're feeling okay today.
Well, I gotta go get some coffee at the cafeteria, eat my breakfast and get started.
Here's to a great Friday and a wonderful weekend for all of us!
Love and hugs,
02-20-2009, 08:51 AM
Rose - You posted above me....Congratulations on the awesome weight loss! It's wonderful that you're getting the 10,000+ steps in each day and doing yoga! Massages are great rewards...good for you for treating yourself! Owls mating on your bedroom roof? I can't even imagine how noisy that would be!
02-20-2009, 09:24 AM
Good morning ladies,
Not much time for other than a quick breeze through the posts.
Congrats Rose on the pounds down :yay: Owls mating? I agree with Michelle - now that's something to hear
Sounds like they really got you shakin' rattlin' and rollin' Michelle. Don't forget to get your water in and do some stretches to pull the muscle aches out. Pick me up some breakfast too, will you? Thanks!
I will post some WW friendly recipes this weekend.
Hello to the rest  I need to move along now.

Happy - I am definitely drinking LOTS of water and stretching off and on throughout the day. I'm looking forward to the WW recipes and any tips/tricks you are using to stay on plan. I probably won't be able to join WW...as I was going a bit too fast on the way home last night and got a ticket. :tantrum: I'm so mad at myself...now the money I was going to spend on WW and my health has to pay for the consequences of my stupid lead foot. Hey, maybe that's where all my excess weight collects - in my right foot as it presses on the gas pedal!
Mel - OUCH! My sinuses and lungs are doing well...but now my head hurts from your rolling pin! Seriously, I have let go of the old feelings. I am SO happy with my DH, and I've got wonderful friends in my life...I'm putting the past in the past, enjoying the present and looking forward to the future. If you want to use the rolling pin again...use it on my lower back to work the knots and kinks out! I'm glad you had a nice time shopping...to bad you had to skip TJ's, but at least you have one trip a month scheduled for there. I hope the codeine helped and the pain has subsided. I occasionally take codeine at night for my back. Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!
02-20-2009, 03:35 PM
so where did my post go???????
02-20-2009, 05:52 PM
Miy post disappear at times too. You do have some interesting stories to tell.
You are so lucky to have a physical therapist stretch out your muscles. I'm going to start doing like Nae and treat myself to some messages once in a while.
Happy, Mel and Annie
Hope you all have had a good day.
I'm going to have to figure out a new routine for my med's. I've looked on line and I'm taking the synthroid and lopressor wrong. I'll start anew tomorrow.
I also went to super Walmart today to stock up on healthy foods for the next 12 days. I don't know whose lame brain idea it was for us to fill in for the other co-worker was crazy. I wish he had to do it for 12 days and see how he endures. I'm really dreading this. The first sign that my bp is up again I'll call in sick.
Thanks for setting me straight Di....that is what I get for posting at 4 in the morning or something like that..... I am sooo tired tonight....hot bath...low cal brew and to bed early for me......
HEYA to all the Worldies.....
02-20-2009, 08:26 PM
TGIF - What a week. I think i was in meetings most of the week. BORING...
I'm still getting my workouts though and I have started my eating healthy program. I brought my lunch to work 5 days this week. That's a big accomplishment for me.
I need to run... just got home, Mr Blackie is barking at me.. he wants his dinner (men) :):)
will post more then weekend..
02-20-2009, 10:48 PM
Rose - Sorry you lost your post. Enjoy your relaxing evening.
Ceejay - You're gonna have a busy and exhausting 12 days, so rest and relax as much as you can, and take good care of yourself. Good for you for stocking up on healthy food!
Mel - Thanks for the beautiful graphic to brighten our weekend!
Patty - Good for you for keeping up with your workouts and taking good care of yourself (and Blackie too, of course). :bravo: for bringing your lunch to work! That is a big accomplishment! My boys (and girl) are barking at me to get off the computer and come relax with them. Kids! Even the 4 legged furry kids can be demanding! But I love them!
02-21-2009, 10:56 AM
Happy Sunny Saturday, Yeah, I did exactly as I posted with the hot spa like bath then into bed for hours of sleep. I feel refreshed. My friend Denise is going to try to make it up for some coffee and a natter. She is my friend who is the incomplete quad.....just when you think you have something to complain about God puts someone like her in your life to give you perspective.
Miss MEl do take good care of yourself this week. Spring is truly just around the corner and it might be a hot one too. How are your eyes doing?
Shad so glad you have a job in a new and exciting field. I never made it into Melbourne when I was down under. I do so want to come back and travel around more. If any of you are ever thinking about a trip somewhere you should consider it ....fabulous!
Ladies I do hope you all have a terrific weekend...... oh oh I just heard the fire alarm in town go off...... oh dear! I am going to make the soup recipe I found in the Newstand magazine..... it sounds good and should help me on my way. I use to love to make the cabbage soup one and my boys hate the smell. They can tease me so badly about it when I am with them...they make me laugh. I just keep saying oh geez Mother of the Groom and pictures pictures pictures.
Blessings to all this fine day and Peace,

I went to bed around 12.30 a.m. but slept till 11.30 a.m. That has to stop tonight. Back to work tomorrow. Ughhhhh.
I saw my first robin yesterday so spring is around the corner. We have had some rain also today. I just hope the weather person was wrong in it changing to snow or ice.
Hi to everyone, No time for personals today. There's a bunch to do today
02-21-2009, 07:12 PM
What a beautiful day it is here. Chily, but the sun is shining. I just spent 5 hours in a classroom, I took at Severe Weather class. I thought i was going to be bored but it was really interesting and very informative (especially living in Tornado alley). It's a class i'm taking in conjunction with a Community Emergency Response class i took.
Mitchellez - oh yes, our 4 legged babies are very demanding. Since i exercise in the morning, we're both getting up at 4:30am. Mr. Blackie is on a schedule and come 4:40am on my off days, Mr Blackie is barking... he's saying.. time to get up, let me out.
Rose - that is so true. I feel God brings everyone into my life, for reason, season or lifetime. Your hot bath spa, reminds me i need to do that for myself too. I just don't take the time. Hope you had a wonderful visit with your friend. I hope the fire alarm was a false one. Do you live in a small town?
Ceejay - hope you stocked up on your healthy food. Twelve days in row... :dizzy: You made a good comment are reviewing your meds. Someone here mentioned that Zurtec was causing them to be drowsy. I was taking up to 3 a day sometimes. I reevaluted that and the times i took it, and i'm feeling much better.
I"m note sure who was going to share some of their WW recipes, but if you do i would like to get a copy too.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

PATTY~ SCROLLING BACK I SEE 2 POSTS OF YOURS. SOMEHOW I MISSED THE FIRST ONE! CONGRATS ON BRINGING THE LUNCH FOR 5 DAYS! I BET THE CLASS WAS INTERESTING. SOMETIMES I WATCH THE WEATHER CHANNEL WHEN THEY HAVE A SPECIAL. MOTHER NATURE CERTAINLY CAN BE FEROCIOUS!
JEANETTE~ YOU MUST HAVE NEEDED ALL THAT SLEEP TO GET READY FOR THE LONG WEEK. DID YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO MR. ROBIN??? I HOPE THAT'S GOING TO MEAN AN EARLY SPRING!! :cb:
:cofdate: THE FIRST STORM MUST HAVE MISSED US CAUSE THERE IS NOTHING ON THE GROUND EITHER WET OR WHITE! THAT'S OK WITH ME. NOW I DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE SHOVELING KID.
LAST NIGHT WAS MORE PAIN MEDS. SHOULDER/NECK ARE STILL ACTING UP. SO I GUESS I WILL JUST REST AND LET THEM HEAL ANOTHER DAY. THE SENIORS HAD A PARTY YESTERDAY FOR SPRING :flow2: AND THEY ARE IN A SUGAR-INDUCED COMA!  SO IT'S BEEN VERY QUIET!:cloud9: HOPE IT LASTS TODAY AS WELL!
HAPPY SUNDAY :moped:
Morning Worldlies around the Globe,
It is going to be another beautiful day here. Yesterday I made my kettle of soup and it turned out very good. So it will be my hunger stopping filler. Nice to have a change.
I saw my first robin on the lower part of the hill. Interesting to see them in February but reports of them down by the rivers and creeks have been for about two weeks now.
Toby and I did about a 3.5 mile walk around the Sacajawea center and it was a bit icy in spots but the weather was great and he marched it like a big dog. Upon arriving at home he wanted to sleep but kept one eye open to see if I was going to leave the house again. Made an Angel food cake and tried to take it to my friend with her new baby but I discovered later I was knocking on the wrong door.....brilliant somedays ....just brilliant! SO maybe today I will get to hold that little darling.
Actually going to make it to morning services today. A new minister is speaking to see if he is acceptable to hire. It is difficult for this little parish to continue after two years of stand in help. The standard by which I started to attend was when we had a female priest who was able to truly express that LOVE which we are meant to give is ALL INCLUSIVE..... and it opened my eyes in wonderful ways. But change is the constant and we must learn to adapt each day......
Last night I had a great phone conversation with my son's fiance. She is such a special woman and I am soooooo happy they are getting married. We discussed the upcoming wedding in Oct. My son is somewhat distant from his father at this point in time and I am sure my ex is not going to be dialing up to see if he has any responsibilities in the affair. So she and I chatted about the rehearsal dinner which is the groom's part. I suggested that a fun relaxed bar b que would be something I would like to do for them. She has a great pair of grandparents who may be able to help me with a place to have it. So things are already taking shape. I would so like any feed back from my worldlies about any suggestions for feeding or hosting something like this event.
Well, I do hope all is well for everyone this fine day. Thinking of each of you and sending you weight loss vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!
02-22-2009, 02:08 PM
Good morning chickies,
Seems like I spent almost all yesterday on the phone. Mel and I had quite the chat - hope I'm not the source of some of that shoulder pain today :^: But we had a great chat. Hopefully I will be able to catch up with Shad too. Mom called and I had some other business related calls so yesterday was a blow out for getting things done - but it was a cold, rainy day so it was a very welcome blow off day
It was a stressful week at work but late Friday my manager and then her manager came by to compliment me on the presentation and analysis I put together. It made me feel very good and in this day and age of never feeling comfortable about your ability to hang on to a job, it doesn't hurt to have people say they like what you are doing ;)
Rose - if you have the bug eating kind of robins I hope they are not showing up too soon. Down here the robins eat seeds so they can suppliment their diets if we get a cold snap. I will never forget one year up north we had an unusual stretch of warm early spring weather. The worm eating robins arrived early too and then we got hit with a late cold snowy cold snap that hung on for weeks. The robins were dying because they could not get to any food. I was so sad. I put extra seed out but they would not touch it. So nice that you really like your future DIL. That makes a big difference. Not sure what to suggest for an October BBQ up your way. By then it's chilly so I would think warm foods like pulled pork sandwiches or chili might be good. Maybe even a taffy apple salad to celebrate fall apples which would compliment the sandwiches. I would think something you could keep warm like pulled pork, baked beans might go over better than grilled items like chicken or burgers. I think a bbq would be fun!
The mockingbirds are back in town. I love their wild singing. Apparently the robins and mockingbirds don't like each other as the mockingbirds are fierce in chasing them off common meeting areas like the feeders. The redbud trees are in bloom and I noticed the Bradford Pear trees that are abundant out here are breaking into their white blossoms too. My mom should arrive in time to catch the azaleas in bloom. I hope the back yard does well this year, it's been iffy the last 2 years.
Love your pics Mel. Was that a big glass of orange juice or a Harvey Wallbanger? Was good talking to you. Hope you can get past the achy breaky shoulders. At least you didn't get snow. Even though it doesn't last long this time of year, by now most people are glad to be done with it.
Poor Mr. Feral came around 2 days this week. I got about 3 feet from him setting down some food and one of his pretty golden eyes has gone dark with a cataract no doubt. Poor guy is getting quite decrepit. He's still limping but not as bad. He is a scrappy fighter that kitty.
Patty - I went to a severe weather presentation here too last year. ***Raises hand as a neighbor in tornado alley*** It was quite interesting and informative.
Ceejay - I noticed that NBC was very vocal by their silence avoiding talking about snow which convinced me that some stations just like to raise an unnecessary fuss. I'm glad we didn't get anything other than rain. Am I wrong or are you pulling a 12 day straight work shift? :yikes: I certainly hope not because that's too much for anyone to take on. Synthroid should always be the first thing you take in the morning on an empty stomach. Don't take anything else with it and wait an hour before you eat or take vitamins or any other pill. I have a real hard time with that as I am a roll out of bed, gimme a coffee NOW kind of girl. Sometimes if I get up early to go to the potty an hour or two ahead of my regular wake time, I will take my pill then.
Michelle - hope you are having that relaxing weekend you were looking forward to. Mom said she got some snow this week, did you too?
Shad - hope you got settled into the new digs comfortably and are enjoying a visit with your friend.
DH decided he needs to lose weight too which will make it a bit easier on the WW planning. He generally eats whatever I make although if my choice involves things he doesn't like like mushrooms or asparagus, I will tweek something for him a bit more in line with his tastes. I need to figure out a menu for the week.
Will be back later with some recipes.
02-22-2009, 04:50 PM
Rose - I just went on yahoo website and type in rehersal dinners bbq and found some sites. Purpletrail.com looks like it has lots of ideas..
02-22-2009, 04:54 PM
Happy Sunday everyone -
I've had a very productive weekend so far. I spent most of yesterday cooking "make and freeze" meals for the week, which makes it easier for me to get to the gym after work. Today, I spent all morning and the early afternoon working on websites. After I sign off here, I plan to head down to the basement and pull up the nasty ol' carpet we have in the area we want to turn into our exercise area. This will involve moving some boxes, etc., but I'll have my back brace/belt on. After that, I'm calling it a day and going to have a relaxing evening. I have to get up extra early tomorrow because I have to be at work by 6 am to check that reports ran and balance. Everyone on my team takes turns with this, and this week it's my turn. It's okay though because since I get to work at 6, it means I get to leave at 3 pm. And I've got a meeting after work with the owner of the pet sitting company. She wants me to help with marketing in my area.
Annie - I hope you're enjoying your weekend and not spending the entire time cleaning.
Mel - My lungs are doing great this weekend, and I'll be wearing a mask when I go down to the the basement to pull the carpet up. I don't want any dust clogging my lungs up. I hope your eyes are doing better, and I hope your shoulder and neck feel better soon.
Ceejay - Good for you for sleeping in yesterday. I hope your 12 day work week is starting off well. Hang in there, rest as much as you can. That's so cool that you're seeing robins already. I hope they arrive here (and bring spring with them) soon.
Patty - We're having a gloriously sunny day here. Yesterday we got between 8" and 9" of snow, so DH had to snowblow the driveway and back patio today. I took a Severe Weather and Tornado Spotting class a couple years ago as we live on the north side of Tornado Alley - we don't get as many tornadoes as to the south...but we get our share. Good for you for being so dedicated to getting up at 4:30 and exercising in the a.m. I just can't bring myself to exercise before work, so I come home, let the dogs out, change my clothes and go right after work. You and Rose are so right....people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Through Facebook, I have been able to reconnect with many old friends. It's so wonderful to be in touch with them again.
Rose - We don't have fire alarms here, but we do have tornado sirens that get tested once or twice a week. When it's tornado season and the weather is right for a tornado, if you hear the siren, you quickly look at the watch to see if it's noon (when the siren testing occurs). That's great that you and Toby had such a nice walk! It's so great that you and your future daughter-in-law get along so well. I've been fortunate to have wonderful relationships with both my mothers-in-law (previous and current). I agree with Happy on the pulled pork (or shredded beef in au jus) sandwiches, baked beans, and salads for an October BBQ.
Happy - Sounds like you had a great day of reconnecting! What a perfect way to bring sunshine to a cold, rainy day! Congrats on the nice compliments from your manager and her manager! When is your mom coming to visit? We don't have the tickets finalized for my DMIL, but she'll probably arrive in mid to late April and hopefully stay into August. Hopefully the snow will be done by mid April so we can go fishing. We did get several inches of snow, and I think we got more snow than the Chicagoland area. At least it was the powdery stuff and not too difficult for DH to clear with the snowblower. We're supposed to get rain and snow later in the week. I just wish spring would get here soon! But DH keeps reminding me that winter usually lasts until mid to late April. :( That's great that your DH is going to join you in losing weight! I'm hoping to get my DH to come to the gym with me one of these days. I'm looking forward to receiving some of your fave recipes!
Shad - I hope your new job goes well and that you're having a wonderful time with your friend. Have you found a place to stay yet?
Ruth - I hope things are going well for you!
A big  to everyone!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend...it's downstairs to work in the basement for me!
:cofdate: I AM SAYING HELLO AND GOOD MORNING TONITE. I HAVE PLANS TO BEGIN GETTING THE LAUNDRY TACKLED AND IT INVOLVES GETTING DOWN THERE EARLY. I WAS ALSO THINKING THAT NIGHT TIME WOULD BE BETTER FOR POSTING WITH THE GOOD WEATHER SO CLOSE. I WOULD LIKE TO GET UP, PEDAL AND GO OUT EARLIER THIS YEAR INSTEAD OF WASTING COOLER HOURS ON THE COMPUTER. PLANNING AHEAD FOR MY FACE AND EYES....I NEVER WANT TO GO THRU SOMETHING THIS PAINFUL AGAIN
EVEN WITH THE SHOULDERS, THE WEEKEND WAS GREAT AND I RESTED A LOT AND ATE HEALTHY FOODS. LOVE THE MILDER WEATHER. OPENED THE WINDOW FOR 5 MINUTES TO LET THE STINK OUT! I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO A BETTER MONTH IN MARCH. FROM A DISTANCE...MY FACE LOOKS ALMOST NORMAL! :cheer3: : :lol3: :lol3:
HAVE A GREAT MONDAY TOMORROW :moped:
ROSE~ SO GLAD YOU AND THE FUTURE DIL ARE GETTING ON SO WELL. WISH I COULD GIVE YOU SUGGESTIONS BUT I AM SORRY TO SAY I HAVE NONE!! THE ONLY PARTIES I EVER GAVE WERE FOR BIG CROWDS AND I MADE ITALIAN DISHES IN ALL MY NEIGHBORS OVENS!! AND A HUGE POT OF SAUCE WITH MEATBALLS AND SAUSAGE AND BRAGGIOLE (MEAT ROLLUPS). THAT IS THE EXTENT OF MY KNOWLEDGE!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU WITH THE IMPENDING WEDDING AND ALSO WISH YOU LUCK WITH THE NEW PASTOR!! ENJOY YOUR SOUP! :hun:
HAPPY~ IT WAS GOOD TALKING TO YOU AND NO IT WAS THE SHOPPING THAT DID ME IN AND LIFTING 2 CASES OF WATER AND A SMALLER CASE OF CANNED FRUIT AND THEN PUSHING THEM AROUND THE STORE FOR OVER AN HOUR! :faint: HOPE THE DH AND YOU DO VERY WELL TOGETHER ON THE WW AND WHAT LUCK THAT HE WANTS TO LOSE ALSO!! :cheer2: I WAS ALSO HAPPY THAT YOU GOT ALL THOSE KUDOS ON THE JOB!! THAT WAS THE BEST NEWS!!
PATTY~GEEZ...I NEVER THOUGHT TO GOOGLE SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND I LOVE GOOGLING!!
MICHELLE~ I WAS JUST GOING TO SAY SOMETHING BUT I SEE YOU BEAT ME TO THE "MASK WEARING" STUFF!! GOOD GIRL!! I DID SOME CLEANING LAST WEEKEND AND TOOK A ZYRTEC BEFORE I BEGAN AND WAITED ABOUT 15 MINS LIKE THE DR RECOMMENDED AND IT WORKED GREAT. MUCH LESS STRESS ON FACE, NOSE AND LUNGS. NOW THAT YOU DID ALL THIS WORK OVER THE WEEKEND...I HOPE YOUR WEEK IS AN EASY ONE!!
 HELLO TO EVERYONE ELSE WHO FOLLOWS IN THE AM!! HAPPY MONDAY TO YOU ALL :sunny:
02-23-2009, 12:12 AM
Morning, afternoon and night!!
I'm hear, not settled into an apartment yet but will be checking that out tonight. Weather is okay, but it will get cold soon, you can feel it coming.
No time for personals. Only just got my access and now I need to go do training!!!! :yikes: talk about 'I'm here before you, to stand behind you, and tell you something I know nothing about. '!!!!!! I'm learning about wind turbines fast!!!!! Now they need me to put maintenance strategies and plans in place.
Mr. Feral came by sometime last night - I was about to go out the door to put some things in the garage and good thing I look out the window before I open the door. He was all curled up snoring. Not really but he looked like he would be. He just stirred a bit when I locked the door and he is still there this morning - all curled up and cozy in his bed. He needs a good rest.
I spent all weekend on the phone. Sometimes I'm torn between getting things done or just saying that keeping close with folks is important too. I will just have to tackle the work load after work this week, a little each night.
I have a gyne appt tomorrow. At this stage in my life it's like what's the point? :dunno:
Oh Shad, walk in the door, stand up and teach me? Geez, gimme time to take my coat off, will yah? Good luck with that! So I take it you are some place where it will be getting a bit chilly will yah? Did you pack the snuggies?
Love the new avatar Mel! It's good to mix up your routine and probably a better idea to tackle the work first and then get on the computer later. You can lose alot of precious time sitting in front of the screen. I know. Glad to hear your face is getting better. :crossed:
Michelle - you make me feel lazy with everything you are doing  Sounds like you had a very productive weekend. 8 inches of snow! :yikes: Oh I'd be soooooo very tired of it by now. At least it was the fluffy stuff. My sister was saying it was colder than cold over there. February always felt the coldest to me because by that time I was so over winter. You are a brave person to be at work at 6am and then off to the gym. I'd be pooped.
Patty - that was a great suggestion about Googling about the reception. I am a master Googler - didn't even think of that. I love how you can find just about anything on the Internet.
And with that, I need to get rolling here. Have a good one ladies.
02-23-2009, 09:57 AM
Good Morning and Happy Monday!!
Work is crazy busy today.
Got the house all cleaned yesterday then slept the rest of they day and night, I don't know what took over my body. I was just plain tired and sleepy.
I have my annual bariatric check up tomorrow morning. Will find out my levels on bloodwork of a couple of weeks ago.
Michelle...I have taken 5000 units of BIOTIN for hairloss and nail growth since bariatrics. I have had minimal loss of hair and my nails grow like weeds. You may want to let your friend know about this.
Shad...glad to hear you are settling. Getting back to work to take a break from cleaning??
MEL...It is only 25 days till spring. March 20th, hope mother nature cooperates with the calendar.
Rose...I haven't seen a robin yet, but have heard the birds singing. Especially the coo of the morning doves.
Happy...hope this week is less stressful for you. With DH on the weight wagon, you may do even better. It helps to have support like that.
Ceejay..wake up sleepy head, I had the same kind of weekend.
Hello to everyone.
Love and Hugs
02-23-2009, 10:01 AM
Good Morning Worldlies, Thank you so much for the great suggestions about the online company party planners. Thank again Patty! Geez Shad the worst is trying to helpful when you aren't even sure what would be helpful good luck!
Mel, nice to see you doing some thing good for your eyes and take care!
Happy you must have been busy making all the recipes yesterday. That is a good project to do to help the week go easier without alot of cooking.
My soup turned out great! Am sharing someday to get a second opinion. I need to make more the last through the week. The service was good I do think the vestry is going to give him an invite to serve at our parish. It will be quite a change from Tennesse to Idaho!!!!
Well, Monday is upon us once again and I am still trying to do my steps although I didn't sleep well last night at all.....so burn out could come earrly today. The other worldies must be busy and not posting or even waving our way as they pass by!!!!!!!!!
Take good care today everyone....
02-23-2009, 11:35 AM
Happy Monday morning ladies -
I'm tired today as I had to get up at 4:45 so I could get to work by 6. But at least I get to leave early. Yay! I'm going to a meeting with the pet sitting company owner after work...and then after that, I'll go home, take care of the dogs and then go to the gym. Busy day ahead for me. I got the carpet pulled up in the basement (and I did wear a mask which helped tremendously) , now I just have to clean and organize the area so that we can set up our exercise equipment. Between my bad back and DH's bad knee, this may yet take another 1 or 2 weekends...but that's okay...as long as it gets done.
Mel - So nice that you are getting milder weather. We're still getting frigid temps here (in the single digits this a.m.). I'm glad to hear that your face is healing up nicely.
Shad - I know you've got a lot on your plate with finding an apartment, learning about wind turbines, etc., but I have every confidence in you! You are the miracle worker remember and if anyone can handle these daunting tasks, it's you!
Happy - I'm glad to hear that Mr. Feral got a cozy good night's sleep. I am very tired of the snow....we all are here. Tired of the snow, tired of the cold. But since it's only February, I'd better just accept that we probably have at least another month of winter. :) Good luck with your gyne appt.
Annie - What took over your body was all that cleaning! No wonder you got tired! But YGG for getting it all done. I commented on your Facebook page that after you were done cleaning your house, you should come clean mine. Good luck with your bariatric appt and thanks for the tip on BIOTIN. I'll tell my niece. Does Indy actually get spring in March (when the calendar says it should be spring)? If so, I'm incredibly jealous. Since I've lived here, we've never had spring before mid-April, and frequently we get snow in early to mid-May.
Ceejay - I hope work is going well, and that you're finding time to relax after work.
Rose - Glad to hear that the service yesterday was good. Do as many steps as you can, but listen to your body and rest when you're tired. Could you please post your soup recipe?
Well, I've got lots to do.
Have a great day everyone!
Love and hugs,
02-23-2009, 11:58 AM
Yikes, Michelle, hardly ever do we get spring when promised, but it is a good thought.
If you are the praying type.....my doc office just called, my mammo came back not so good. There is a change in the tissue area that they cannot really see well, from the last mammo. I have to go back this Wed the 25th for additional imaging and ultrasound. I am a bit nervous as my mom had breast cancer with masectomy about 15 years ago. I know, stay positive, it is just a smudge or something on the film.
02-23-2009, 12:29 PM
Hey Annie - I will say prayers for you...and definitely do stay positive. There are so many things it could be...a smudge, something on the film, or something equally harmless. I, too, have a history of breast cancer in my family - my sister had breast cancer and a mastectomy at age 41, so I understand your nervousness. But like I said, there are so many possible harmless explanations. Hang in there.
02-23-2009, 06:14 PM
I might be late with this Nae, but for my family barbies, I stick a chicken or duck, a small roast of something like lamb, beef, or pork and/ or a fish in the Weber (kettle) bbq and have something like chops or sausages on the grill for anyone who doesn't like the above. I also bake or roast veges in the kettle and serve 3 types of salads with the lot - usually potato, green salad and a pumpkin or rice salad. I have lots of different types of sauces, gravies and salad dressings which can be made days in advance to put over the meat, and salad as required by the guests. Hot Bread rolls and you are done. If you want dessert, try a low cal raspberry, blackberry or portwine jelly made with one cup of water (instead of two) and a cup of frozen mixed berries. If you put it into a jelly mould or one of those moulds with the hole in the middle, you can fill the hole with fresh strawberries (looks like a volcano when it spills out lava) or whatever is in season or you can put cream in there to jazz it up or fill it with green mint leaves to make it look pretty.
Have fun. Of course if it is the wrong time of year for berries, you can use an orange jelly and mix it with mango and peaches or apricot bits.
Hope that helps.
Back maybe later with more personals. For now I'd better scram.
02-23-2009, 07:36 PM
WELLLLLL.... THE NEW SCHEDULE IS WORKING OUT MUCH BETTER. HOPE IT CONTINUES. ALL IS WELL TODAY. JEN AND I HAD A GOOD CHIN WAG ON THE PHONE. THEY ARE SOUNDING MORE SETTLED NOW. HOPE IT LASTS!! TOMORROW IS SHOPRITE AND I NEED SOME PRODUCE, CHICKEN, AND THE GRANDSON NEEDS BLACK OIL SUNFLOWER SEEDS. I AM ALSO THINKING OF SOME MEDITERRANEAN-STYLE DISHES BUT WITHOUT SPICES! I WILL SEE WHAT TEMPTS ME. NOT MUCH NEW. HAVE A GREAT DAY TOMORROW :moped:
SHAD~ GLAD YOU ARRIVED SAFE AND SOUND AND ARE LEARING ALL ABOUT THOSE GIANT TURBINES. THEY ARE ALL OVER THE USA AND GETTING MORE POPULAR AS THE MONTHS GO BY. GOOD LUCK! ENJOY!
HAPPY~ POOR OLD MR FERAL AND POOR HAPPY HAS A CAULIFLOWER EAR FROM THE WEEKEND. I FEEL THE SAME ABOUT THE PHONE. TAKES TIME AWAY FROM REAL LIFE... HOPE THE WEEK GOES WELL! GOOD LUCK WITH THE GYNE! YOUR POST TODAY MADE ME HUNGRY BOR THE BARBIE!!!

MICHELLE~ HOW NICE IT WILL BE TO HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE HOUSE AND NOT EVEN HAVE TO LEAVE...ESPECIALLY IN BAD WEATHER OR WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES YOU TO JUST DO SOMETHING GOOD FOR YOURSELF. NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES TO SET UP. HOPE YOU BOTH ENHOY THE SPACE.
02-23-2009, 07:37 PM
Just stopping by to say hello. Ii ithought I would be working 10 days in a row but just found out that I'll be off Thursday YIPEE.
I've had a busy 2 days of work. It's just now slowed down some. I have gone over the 10,000 steps today.
02-23-2009, 09:41 PM
A quick check in and quick confession. I didn't get to the gym tonight. After work, followed by the meeting with the pet sitting company folk, I was pretty tired. I'm going to try and get to bed early as I didn't sleep well last night.
Talk to you all in the morning!
Love and hugs,

Hello Ladies -
Annie - I will keep you in my prayers. Have you got results from blood work?
Mooz - Hum.. i'm coming to your house next time you have a barbie. Your menu sounded delicious. Hope you get settled soon.
Mitchellez - i know the feeling, last night i stayed up and watched the Oscars and this morning hit the off button on the alarm. Luckily for me Mr Blackie woke me up. Missed my workout though.
Ceejay - Way to go getting in 10,000 steps. What kind of pedometer do you have? I bought one a while back from Target, but didn't like it. It kept resetting.
Happy - I know what you mean about being on the phone. Most of my family, we'll cousins and their kids are on internet. We do alot of family emails and my sister did a group yahoo calendar, that way we know all b-days. We're many miles away yet by emails, it's like were right there.
Mel - glad the new schedule is working out.
As for me I'm on my 8th day of eating healthy and i have to admit i do feel better. I just need to remind myself of this feeling, when i'm tempted by the fast food.
02-24-2009, 08:45 AM
Good Morning...thought I would drop in before I head out to the dr to find out bloodwork. Will post later the results.
Shad....YUMMY BBQ. I will be stopping by at your next BBQ.
Michelle...It is not a sin to miss a work out due to be overworked otherwise. Go easy on yourself. I know, easier said than done!
MEL...thanks for the hugs, I certainly need them. Calsification doesn't sound good either, that was the start to my mom's breast cancer....calcium deposits. Fingers crossed and positive attitude.
Ceejay...Hey to right back.
Patty...Great job on eating healthy, it does make one feel better when we don't have all that bad junk in our system.
Will check back later with lab results.
Hello to everyone...
Have a marvy day.
Love and hugs
02-24-2009, 09:52 AM
Happy Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday. Apparently it is a bigger thing down here than it was up north. If I was back in Chicago it would be Pazchi (poon-ch-skee) Day. Those fat pillows of fried dough stuffed with various fruit and creme fillings. We are having a small thank you to the employees event at work today. We're doing Mardi Gras. I get to hand out beads. Just having some cake (cheap sheet cake not King cakes) and some Cajun/Zydeco music. Fortunately (and I say that because you don't know the people I work with  ) there will be no traditional flashing of bods to get the beads. Just show up and we'll give you some
Got a doctor's appointment this morning first though.
Annie sending you :crossed: and good wishes that everything is ok on the boob front. I had calcification one year - they monitored it every 6 months for about 18 months and then everything was ok. Hope it's the same for you. It is a scary feeling but as everyone said to me, fretting is no good for you so don't fret until you have good reason to fret.
Patty - good for you on the healthy eating. That is the eternal question. If we do well and we feel great for it then WHY do we always fall back to our bad habits??? :chin: If you ever figure that one out, let me know.
Hope you had a good rest Michelle and are feeling more perky this morning. How did your meeting go with the petsitter?
Ceejay -I am always astounded by the amount of steps you get into your day. Wow! I know how hard it is to get to 5,000 much less double that - keep up the good work!
Mel - how did the shopping trip go? Get all you needed? A treat for the grandson too? I think he's your adopted SON by now  Mr. Feral is resting again this morning (he walked off yesterday without getting fed). Said it's nice to be all cuddly & sleepy and you should do the same. :D
Ok Shad, from now on, you can do the barbeques  Are you all settled in now?
Good morning Nae
Time for me to hop in the shower and make sure I shave my legs - don't want the doc thinking she's sitting in the forest
02-24-2009, 11:22 AM
A quick check in for me. My meeting yesterday went well. And although I didn't sleep well last night, I'm doing better than I was yesterday. Hopefully, I'll get a good night's sleep one night this week. I'm planning on going to Yoga class tonight.
Annie, I'm sending you  :goodvibes: and :crossed: that all goes well.
Happy - Enjoy your Mardi Gras celebration! We have Pazchi's here too, but I've never had one.
Shad - your barbeques sound yummy! When's the next one so I can crash it!
Ceejay - I'm glad you get a day off this week.
A big  to everyone! I'll try and check in later.
Love and hugs,

Bariatric Check Up: All and all, everything was good. Waist went from 34 to 28. Vit A was 35 and should be at least 38; iron was 8 and should be at least 10; potassium was 3.2 and should be at least 3.6. The doc was pleased with me overall. Suggested an iron supplement and eating for the potassium and Vit A. I already take a Vit A supplement.
Tomorrow the boob work out.
Love and hugs
02-24-2009, 01:07 PM
Hi Annie - I'm glad your bariatric check up went well. A 28" waist?? Oh how I wish! :)
02-24-2009, 03:56 PM
Michelle...I still feel fat tho, even tho when I hold up my pants out of the dryer, they look small like they should fit Samantha. I just cannot get the "fat" image out of my head. And the bit of extra skin I have, when I look at it, I think gez, I need to lose more weight. God played a cruel joke on women....periods, giving birth, fatness, shaving legs and pits and whatnot, squatting to pee, wiping.........
ANNIE~ YES I HAVE CALCIFIED SPOTS TOO FOR MANY YEARS NOW. KEEPING MY HEAD HELD HIGH!! GOOD THOUGHT GOING YOUR WAY! CONGRATS ON THE CHECK-UP!! :cheer:
HAPPY~ HOPE THE DR APPT WENT WELL AND I PROMISE NOT TO FLASH YOU TO GET SOME BEADS!! ALTHOUGH I LOOK BETTER NOW THAN 5 YEARS AGO
 WAVE TO MICHELLE! HOPE YOU HAVE SWEET DREAMS :cloud9:
I NEVER MADE IT TO THE STORE. I OVERSLEPT!! :dizzy: IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE AND AWHILE. GUESS I NEEDED IT. I COULD HAVE RUSHED TO TRY AND MAKE IT BUT JUST DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IT. I'LL GO THURS OR FRIDAY. GETTING SOME STUFF DONE. NOW 2 GOVT AGENCIES ARE NOT CVALLING ME BACK. I MUST HAVE BAD KHARMA THIS MONTH. BUT I WILL BE PERSISTENT!! :yoga:
I HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE A BOX OF SHELF FOODS FOR THE KIDS TO TAKE TO THE TRAILER FOR THE SUMMER. STAPLES THAT I CAN GET ON SALE. I ALREADY HAVE A SMALL STASH STARTED. IT'S BETTER THAN GIVING THEM CASH. THEY ONLY SPEND IT AND THEN "SHOP" IN MY CLOSETS ANYWAY!!
HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AND HAPPY WEDNESDAY :moped:
02-24-2009, 06:06 PM
Quick one as I have some work I must start on this morning. No more slacking off around here any time soon. I have to master the 'joys' of Maintenance Plans this morning and they were always my week spot. Then I guess I will have to explain it to the noncoms who don't appear to have a clue between up and down. But first to get myself ready for it since I don't always understand them either!!!
My co-worker has gone home sick and it will be me fielding the questions today. Blurk - not fun.
Annie - hope the boob squish comes out clear for you today. I once had a squish and the technician came out and said that I should go back and get it done again since I had a Christmas tree come up on the x-ray!!!! :yikes: sounds dangerous! But it turned out to be a series of veins and ducts and things all in a row and nothing serious at all. Then another time they called me back because I had a visible spot, but they decided it was a lymph node because it was perfectly round and in a spot when one could sort of expect to see a node. So there you go, do not worry until there is something to worry about.
Happy and Michelle - those P??? thingys sound okay, but do they have to have such a difficult name???? You didn't introduce me to those while I was there! Deep fried pickles, beans and anything else you can name, but not those.
Okay - I'll get back to the rest of the personals later. For now I need to get up the nose of a person who is going to rent me an apartment I think and maybe I will talk to the management agency regarding money and allowances again. I'm tired of the hassle already. I'm tired of being sardined into trams and trains already. Bring back the mines!!!!!
02-24-2009, 11:17 PM
Shrove Tuesday...... our church puts on a pancake dinner for the last 50 years and so I helped this year. It was so much fun. The hall was decorated so great for the Mardi Gras....the little girls are all dressed up and helping to clean up and set up table settings as the group changes. It is a nice tradition.
Hope all is well with everyone and prays for the boobs to be clean and healthy.
Hope everyone is well and take good care!
Off to nite nite for Toby and Me....he was a good dog to day long day in the car......but he just loves it....crazy little guy. Mel hope you get your outing on Thursday......
02-25-2009, 09:27 AM
Good morning all,
We are in this cycle of warm up, warmth brings the rains, rain brings the cool again, rinse, lather, repeat... Much better for sleeping in than rising in the morning.
Things went fine with the doc yesterday. The Mardi Gras thing at work was ok too. I broke down and had a piece of chocolate cake. It was good - mostly cake, very little frosting. Within 30 minutes I started feeling really woozy. It wasn't outright bathroom sick but an uncomfortable feeling no less. I think I'm really getting sugar sensitive. I guzzled down 2 big bottles of water in an effort to "wash it out". When I got home I didn't feel like making dinner so we picked up Subway sandwiches. I had my favorite - the sweet onion chicken teryaki with lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and cucumbers. Now that tasted good! I think Patty said it - why if we feel so good doing the right thing, do we still crave that which isn't good for us???? This morning I am major bloated and feeling like a parade balloon. I will most likely be using my "free pass / no weigh in" tomorrow.
Shad - Paczkis don't have a funny name - you are just not used to being around ethnic eastern Europeans in your part of town  Not so strange sounding to my ears - nor I think to Michelle's either. :D
Mel - you know, it's a pretty good thing to say that you look better now than 5 years ago so keep up whatever (good I hope) stuff that is having you look better.
Annie - I don't think we ever really see ourselves for what we truly look like. I think its sorta funny that not only do we not see ourselves losing weight but also, at some mysterious point, when the tables turn, we are also in denial that we are GAINING weight. I agree with Michelle - I am 2nd in line envying your 28 inch waist
Guess I'd better get out of here and on with the day - after all not like I'm made of sugar and gonna melt in the rain
02-25-2009, 11:51 AM
Happy Wednesday ladies -
I went to the gym last night planning on doing an Abs class and a Yoga class...but the kickboxing class looked so fun, that I did that instead of Yoga. My body is a bit sore today, but not too bad. I'm going to try and get to the gym tonight...but I have website stuff to do too...so we'll see. Today and tomorrow we're supposed to have rainy/icy weather. Yuck. That won't make driving any fun at all.
Annie - I hope your mammo and ultrasound go well today to put your mind at ease. As for feeling fat...it's just amazing how enduring our body images are. I think back to my 20s when I was about 90 lbs lighter and I thought I was fat then. At this point in my life, my doc has told me not to shoot for weight that low. He said if I could lose 50 to 75 pounds that would be plenty.
Mel - Good idea to make a box of food for the kids to take to the trailer! That's very nice of you.
Shad - Sounds like you have your hands full with your new job, but I'm sure you'll excel at it...you always seem to excel at whatever you do! As for deep fried pickles....Wisconsin State Fair is the place to be if you want fried food on a stick! Everything you can possibly imagine is deep fried and put on a stick, including deep fried Twinkies and Snickers bars! No, I've never tried one. I know people who have and it made them nauseous. I stick to corn on the cob, a hamburger or steak sandwich, and maybe...a famous Wisconsin State Fair cream puff.
Rose - The pancake dinner sounds really nice! I hope you're having a great day today.
Happy - What a coincidence! Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki is my fave sub at Subway, and I have it the same way you do! Are you sure you don't melt in the rain? You are sweet enough to be made of sugar!
Patty, Ruth, Ceejay and everyone, I hope you're having a great day!
I'd better get back to work!
Love and hugs,
02-25-2009, 02:03 PM
That makes three in the crowd that likes sweet onion chicken terriyaki from subway as their number one choice.
I'm so happy that I get a day off before I start my stretch of 7 days.
I was really on a carb binge yesterday and would really like to know what my blood sugar level was before and after the binge. I was a little shaky before I started eating everything insight.
I'm minus one boss today. He went home sick, throwing up kind.
congrats on a good dr's visit. I'd be happy with a 35 inch waist line. I also have calcium deposits.
ewwww on the fried twinkie and snickers. I'll take mine plain but wouldn't mind having some good Wisconsin cheese.
The pancake supper sounded like fun.
How many free passes does one get in WW? Just curious?
Great idea to give your kids staples. Glad you are feeling better. Take care of yourself.
It's time to monitor the plant again. ughh
02-25-2009, 02:04 PM
By the way, hello to those I've missed.
02-25-2009, 02:32 PM
Today is Ash Wednesday - the start of Lent. Although I am not a "practicing" Catholic anymore, I am very much a practicing Christian and I still hold to some traditions I grew up on. One of them is not eating meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. I try not to eat meat on Fridays through Lent but am not always successful. It does make for some creative meal planning at times.
Today I had what I have not had since oh ... maybe the 1960's. A cold scrambled egg sandwich. Back when I was in grammar school it was before they invented school kitchens and we brown bagged our lunches. Lenten delicacies included a slab of Velveeta processed "cheese" on bread, scrambled eggs or a kid's favorite - a ketchup sandwich. Yeah, I know ICK ICK double ICK. But when you grew up eating the stuff... :dunno: Remember too that not only did we bring our lunches but there was no refrigeration except if it was winter and the coat closet in the back of the classroom faced the cold outer wall.
For some reason today I had a hankerin' (the south is trying to infiltrate me ;) ) for a scrambled egg sandwich. Of course it can't be refrigerated and it was just as good as I remembered. So if I'm not here tomorrow, I'm reserving a seat on the porcelain throne
I also had a cup of baked potato soup with some grated cheese from the cafeteria. Though now that I think about it, there might have been some BACON :yikes: in that bloody soup. Well ... I guess I will fall back on tradition which says 1) if you didn't realize it, then it's ok and 2) it's more of a "sin" to waste it by chucking it than to eat it. I had tea for lunch, day 1 of no Coca Cola and so far, I'm strong :D
Oops boss called. Back later.
02-25-2009, 03:17 PM
Ceejay - I'm glad you're getting a day off!
Happy - I like scrambled egg sandwiches too...but I eat them hot/warm...not sure if I could take them at room temperature, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with the no soda.
02-25-2009, 03:36 PM
It was just a lymph node they couldn't see so well. It is fine and I am fine!!
I gave up cursing for lent....so far only a few slip ups.
02-25-2009, 03:48 PM
Annie - That is WONDERFUL news! :cheer: :dancer: :woohoo: Congrats on giving up cursing for lent. I'm not sure I could do that - sometimes I have quite the potty mouth. :o
I've been debating what to do this evening....gym or website work....gym or website work.....gym or website work. :dunno:
I think I'm going to opt for the gym this evening since the weather is supposed to be nasty tomorrow and even though my fave gym classes are tomorrow night....I might not be able to get there....so I can do website work tomorrow.
02-25-2009, 05:28 PM
SORRY CHICKS.... I BURST A BLOOD VESSEL INB MY RIGHT EYE. THAT'S WHY THE EYE WAS BEING SUCH A PAIN. JUST GOT HOME FROM THE DRS AND GOING TO LIE DOWN. KILLING ME. BE BACK IN A FEW DAYS. LEAVE A TRAIL OF BREADCRUMBS IF YOU MOVE TO MARCH!! GEE...DIDN'T I JUST SAY THIS LAST MONTH???
LOVEYA ALL AND STAY WELL :moped:
02-25-2009, 06:05 PM
Hi Mel - I hope your eye feels better very soon! Take care of yourself and get lots of rest!
02-25-2009, 08:53 PM
Today is Thursday and I have landed myself in a whole heap of work which should keep me busy for at least 5 years!!!! My co-worker (some of you will remember him from the 'chickie roosters' I mentored in Townsville a couple of years back) is having a nervous breakdown and is telling me I am a lifesaver - pooh bar! He'll have us both in tears if he is not careful. So when he gets back from being sick, we will need to sit down and work out the finer details and implement some change management. If we can see it written down instead of leaping from pillar to post, life might just improve somewhat. Meantime we dig and delve in places we really should not be and sometimes come up with the answers. Sometimes I surprise myself.
I'm still dealing with the letting twits re leasing an apartment. Tomorrow I go to have a look at one which is a step forward and an achievement I guess.
Nae - you'd never get away with leaving a dog in the car down here. It gets far to hot for them and they pass out from heat exhaustion or someone calls the police and the RSPCA and the owner gets a wrecked car and a fine. Glad you had a good Shrove Tuesday (Pancake day)
Happy - nice avatar :p ! I have a slide show of the Butchart Gardens playing on my computer at the moment, I might have to go to Singapore as well today - to keep the sanity at a reasonable level you see!!!! ;) I think you will be okay with a small bit of choc cake and no icing, as long as you have been exercising a bit. Sorry but those fruit puffs do have a funny name from where I am standing - however puha and pakeha probably sounds 'interesting' from where you sit as well. And we wont get into the Canadian Poutine either.
We often used to have mashed hard boiled eggs for our sandwiches. Mind you we had hens so it was easy to get egg sandwiches and cheap as well. Love mashed eggs (mashed with a little single cream and salt and pepper) on brown bread. Silly me, I left my lunch at home tody. I am so stupid at times. Nice fresh roll with a bit of ham and mustard and lettuce and tomato!!! Bummer.
I've never had a subway sandwich, so I can't say which is best!
Michelle - they have deep fried Mars bars here and in NZ they used to fry up Toasties - which were already pretty much fried previously so go figure. I've never been a fan so I have no problems with them. I'll give the deep fried a bit of a miss if it's okay with you lot. That sort of stuff is food porn :censored: anyway so why are we talking about it - remind me again. Oh yes it was Happy's fault with the Pasczkis (sp)
Annie - great news on the boob squish success. See we told you didn't we???
Mel - what are you doing to yourself here. Get with it. That's painful.
Ceejay, Madcat, Ruth and the lurking Carla -
Gotta go. Who knows something about cost centres, general ledger codes, wbs elements and the like and where they are placed in the MM module and why do they pop up at inopportune times???? I need your help.
02-25-2009, 10:27 PM
Yes Ash Wednesday.....Happy you will be just fine and it is sometimes a very comforting thing to have sometraditions that just remind you of the connections that are outside of ourselves. My upbringing is far removed from the Episcopal Chapel I now attend and my brother is sure I am headed in the wrong direction. But I have really enjoyed so many things about it.
Mel, what is the world girl do you do to get those eyes in such trouble. There wasn't fireman watching that evoked such a pop! Take care of yourself I thought we were just getting you back. Sending good vibes.
Shad, you are so sweet giving me all those ideas. The wedding is Oct 3rd. so there is plenty of time to offer me lots of ideas, I welcome them. Good luck on the apartment hunting. As for Toby and the car....he is well looked after and in the summer it is different issue for him in the car. During the cooler days he has a great blanket a heating pad and he loves it. Even at home when I am out in the yard I can tell he wants in the car and so I open the door and sure enough he jumps in and just settles down for hours.
Annie, yeah...so happy for your good report. We shall celebrate that news!
Michelle, you sound busy but trying to balance good exercise program into your routine..... what a good example you are for me.
Ceejay, I am trying to do 10000a day or more also. I have a fairly accurate pedometer that helps me alot. I move so much in the clinic that I get sometimes 4miles in just at work. With the better weather I am able now to go to my favorite wild life park area and get in some good walking.
Hello to all the worldlies, come stop by for a minute or two and tell us what you have been doing.....we love to hear from you!!!!! March is just around the bend.
02-26-2009, 09:32 AM
My PC was giving me alot of problems this morning. I hope the hard drive isn't going. DH and I have the same Dells and he's had to replace his hard drive twice already.
Lost my time to read and post while I was cussing at this thing hanging and booting and churning so I'll have to try and get back later.
 Mel on the eye. What next! Geez.
Glad you like the avatar Shad - it was the most springlike pic I had at the moment. :D
Oct 3 is my sister's birthday Rose. A good day to party
Very glad to hear all is well Annie. :yay:
Michelle - I cannot for the life of me picture you as a cusser
02-26-2009, 10:03 AM
Just a brief note this morning as I'm off to Paragould to have the Rav diagnosed again so they can order parts. I should take it to the Toyota
in Jonesboro. This will take up most of my day but it needs to e done.
((hugs)). Hope your eyes feel better.
That it is good news. I know you are relieved.
I found out yesterday that my bosses have hired a new employee, another woman. She is starting today. To be honest women do a better job in the plant than men do.
I'll be back later today and to do personals.
02-26-2009, 11:42 AM
Oh Happy Thursday Worldlies..........
Well Ms. Bella rolled in some kind of sh*t last night. I gave her a bath and she still smelled quite badly this morning. So at 5:30 AM I was bathing Hella Bella in the sink with laundry soap and using the sprayer on her. I ended up washing, scrubbing, rinsing and repeating 3 times. I was 15 minutes late to work because of it. I just couldn't leave her in the laundry room all day smelling like poo. The stench has permeated my nostrils...that is all I can smell, or maybe it is my breath. lol
Michelle...good for you for opting the gym. I wold of chosen the website as you all know I do not like exercise.
MEL...holy cow girl. Get those eyes better.
SHAD Yes, the all knowing chicks were so right, once again on the boob issues. I should listen more closely......I think being so busy at work is makeing up the the time you had off.
Rose...I do 7000 steps a day. I want to get to 10000. I started out only doing about 3500. I just started in January.
Happy...I have had a Dell since 2006 with no problems...knock on wood, maybe you all just got lemons...
Tomorrow night my brother's band...Little Eddie and the Fossils, play at Mickey's Irish Pub. I have about 25 people going. Several from past places of work and some from Humana. Tony baby is going with also. My nephew is going to sit in on the drums for 4 songs. That is so cool as he is the son of the brother that is in the band. I get all goosebumpy just thinking about it.
Hello to all I may of missed...
Love and Hugs
02-26-2009, 05:36 PM
Happy Thursday (almost Friday) ladies -
It's a rainy cold day in Wisconsin, and it's supposed to turn into a snowy cold night. :( I didn't make it to the gym last night because my back was really hurting. And I didn't get the website stuff done either (I'll do that tonight and tomorrow night). But my back feels better today. I had physical therapy at lunch time, which went well, but I'm a little bummed. I mentioned to my PT that I did kickboxing on Tuesday night, and she said that I really need to focus on non-impact cardio (like recumbent biking) and strength training. So I can't do kickboxing, step, or the fun dance classes either. At least not for awhile. :( I'm planning on getting to the gym tonight for cardio and strength training unless the roads are really slick and icy.
Shad - I hope you find a place to live soon and that the workload gets less chaotic and more manageable.
Rose - Walking in the wildlife park sounds so nice. I'm hoping to do more hiking and park walking when the weather gets nicer.
Happy - Good luck with your PC. And when I'm really angry or frustrated, I can cuss so bad it might make a sailor blush!
Ceejay - That's good that your bosses have hired more help! And so nice you have a day off to take care of errands.
Annie - As I mentioned, I didn't do the gym or the website last night....just took it easy. Tomorrow night sounds like a lot of fun! I hope Hella Bella smells better when you get home. Why do they find the smelliest stuff to roll in??
A big  to everyone!
Gotta get a few more things done before I leave for home.
Love and hugs,
02-26-2009, 06:07 PM
Quick one as there is work to be done and sh*t to be sorted. I have an apartment as from the 10 March. It's costing me a fortune, but it comes complete with cleaner, internet access, gym, pool etc. It's close to work so I can walk to and from and it is close to the 'in' area of Southbank by the river so I can go running up and down the tracks as well - when it isn't smokey, rainy, or snowing or blowing!!! and yes it does do most of those things in Melbourne.
It's Friday and I am really, really looking forward to this weekend and doing a bit of exercise other than deciding whether to take a crowded tram or hoof it down to the office. I try to hoof it. It only takes 15 minutes and it is good for me. I already hate the crowded trams. The trains I can take. Go figure!
Don't know what's on the menu for the weekend. We have some mutual friends coming over for drinks and nibbles and maybe dinner tonight, but Saturday/ Sunday is mostly clear. R wanted to go to Phillip Island to see the Fairy Penguins come ashore and we may do that if the fires don't get in the way. I need to organise a trip home as well for a weekend but that will be in a couple of weeks so plenty of time to book that one.
Okay - better go, the first of todays problems just landed on my desk.
02-26-2009, 08:52 PM
SHAD~ I AM GLAD YOU HAVE A FRIEND THERE AND HAPPY TO HEAR THERE IS SO MUCH WORK...GOTTA BE A good sign for the "future" right??? HOPE THE APARTMENT YOU SEE IS OK AND YOU CAN GET SETTLED DOWN. AND HAPPY HOOFING :running:
MICHELLE~ YOU BETTER PAY ATTENTION TO THE PT OR I AM COMING OUT THERE...SNOW OR NOT...AND SMACKING YOU :rollpin:  HOPE THE BACK FEELS BETTER SOON!

NAE~ I HAD A LAUGH AT THE BROTHER AND YOUR CHURCH OF CHOICE RIGHT NOW. MY BROTHER IS JEHOVAH WITNESS AND HE KNOWS FOR SURE I AM GOING TO --->
**** I CANNOT SEEM TO GET TOP THE PRECEDING PAGE SO I WAVE TO ANYONE I MISSED THERE
:cloud9: GOOD EVENING CHICKIES. THE EYE IS MUCH BETTER BUT LOOKS LIKE CRAP. WTF!!!! :tantrum: ALL IS WELL IN MY CORNER OF THE WORLD...MORE OR LESS. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT I HAVE A PHONE INTERVIEW FOR ONE GOVT CALL ON MARCH 23RD AND UNTIL THEN THEY HAVE CANCELED ANY DEDUCTIONS FOR REPAYMENT. IN THE MEANTIME I MUST GATHER MY THOUGHTS AND PAPERS TO PROOVE I AM NOT AT FAULT. LIKE A FRIGGING CRIMINAL SHE TREATED ME ON THE PHONE. I SAID I WILL HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY PAPERS TO DEFEND MYSELF AGAINST THESE ACCUSATIONS AND SHE SAID "I WOULDN'T EXACTLY CALL THEM ACCUSATIONS"...WELL WTF ARE THEY THEN I WANTED TO SAY???
I HAVE ENOUGH "EVIDENCE" TO PROVE THEM WRONG THANKS TO THE BANK AND THE 2 PEOPLE THAT GAVE ME FREE ADVICE AND TAUGHT ME OVER THE PHONE HOW TO GET THE PRINTOUTS I NEEDED AND NOT GET CHARGED!! :cheer3: SO I AM READY FOR THEM!! WE SHALL SEE WHO WINS. HELPED RICHIE GET HIS UNEMPLOYMENT STUFF STRAIGHTENED OUT OVER THE NET AND ALSO SEND OUT FAXES. JEN GOT HER ONE THING DONE ALSO. NOW I NEED TO GET ONE MORE AGENCY SETTLED...BUT THEY NEED TO ANSWER THEIR FREAKING PHONE FIRST!!!!! :tantrum: THEN I SHOULD BE STRAIGHTENED OUT TILL NEXT YEAR! :faint: THAT'S ALL FOLKS! HAVE A GREAT NIGHT AND A WONDERFUL FRIDAY!!! :moped:
02-27-2009, 08:16 AM
Morning Ladies, Yeah it is Friday!!!!! Yesterday I had the opportunity to go put the finishing touches on a new wheelchair for a patient that has been waiting for this for about a year! It was fun and it is so pretty...if a wheelchair can be pretty.
Nice to hear from you Mel! Hope you get better very very soon!
Hope the apartment is going to work out well for you SHad.....sounds like it offers a lot of nice extras.......
To all the other worldlies a good productive weight watching day. May we all make good choices for ourselves.
02-27-2009, 09:50 AM
One sleepy chick here. We had some grand lightning and thunder last night. DH woke me up twice. It was a choppy night for sleep. TGIF as it's going to be a long day I think. There's lots of accidents out on the road and apparently the road I take to work is under a foot of water. That means taking the other road which is a traffic nightmare. Guess I will be "making some sailors blush" this morning ;)
I need to get an early start and we are taking my boss to lunch today so I might not get back until tomorrow. Happy Friday chicks! Sorry for my lack of personals today.
02-27-2009, 10:28 AM
Happy Friday ladies -
TGIF! This morning my car was covered in ice...it took about 15 minutes time to scrape the windshield off just enough so I could see a little. Have I mentioned I can't wait for spring? At least we didn't get more than a dusting of snow...not the 4"-6" that they were predicting. I went to the gym last night and did a strength training class followed by a 1/2 hour of cardio on a machine that's sort of a recumbent stepper (and is physical therapist approved). Tonight will be for website work. This weekend, we're planning on going to a dog show...which should be lots of fun. Any chance I get to be around lots of animals is always a good time for me. I don't know yet if we're going Saturday or Sunday. The rest of the weekend will be spent doing the usual stuff...grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning. And hopefully I'll get a little bit of time to relax and read a book or something.
Shad - DH and I were watching a TV show called Mega World last night. It's a show about mega structures and mega machinery around the world...this particular episode was about Australia. It featured the Super Pit gold mine in Western Australia, the Fire King high tech fire truck that is used to fight bush fires in NSW, the "Road Trains" which are like what we call "semis" but with 4 or 5 trailer cars pulled behind the cab - I guess they mostly use them in the to haul stuff around the bush as well, a huge catamaran ferry, and the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the high tech system they use for managing the traffic flow on the bridge - with rolling marquee type lane signs and MOVING medians that open and close lanes of traffic (that blew me away). Anyway, it was very interesting and I thought of you throughout. I'm glad to hear you found an apartment - and it sounds very nice too. Since it costs a fortune, will the company be paying for it or at least subsidizing the cost? Will you be staying with your friend until March 10 then? It snows in Melbourne? I so wish I could go with you to see the Fairy Penguins!! I've seen them on TV. They are SO adorable! Can you please, please, please take photos if you go?? When DH and I eventually do get to Australia, we want to see penguins, along with lots of other cool stuff.
Mel - I'm so glad the eyes are well enough for you to post, and I hope they continue to get better. I am as of yesterday officially listening to my PT...so no smacking is necessary. Sounds like you're having a heckuva time with the govt. Why is it that they treat law abiding, good people as criminals and leave criminals alone? :dunno: I'm glad you're making progress, and also helping Richie and Jen with their stuff.
Nae - I'm sure the patient will be thrilled to get the new, pretty wheelchair! :)
Annie - Have a great time tonight watching your brother's (and nephew's) band! I wish I could go too...I always love hearing a great band!
Happy - Sounds like you'll be joining my efforts to make sailors blush today. Safe travels on the roads. Have fun at lunch!
Ruth - I immediately thought of you when I heard that the Obamas are planning on getting a Portuguese Water Dog. So cool that that I know someone who has the same breed of dog as the next First Dog.
Well, I'd better get back to it.
Love and hugs to all you wonderful worldlies!

 TO HAPPY AND NAE AS THEY RISH ABOUT THEIR BUSY WORLD!!! YES A WHEELCHAIR CAN BE PRETTY...JEN BOUGHT ME A TINKERBELL PURSE/BAG AND I PUT IT ON THE BACK OF MY OLD CHAIR. IT LOOKS ALL SPIFFIED UP NOW!!!
MICHELLE~ GLAD TO HEAR YOU ARE LISTENING TO THE PT. YOU CERTAINLY DON'T WANT TO LOSE ANY SPRING/SUMMER TIME FEELING PAIN!! NEITHER DO I. WE CAN BOTH BE GOOD GIRLS FROM NOW ON!! THEN YOU WON'T HAVE TO CHASE ME DOWN THE STREET TRYING TO KICK MY BUTT EITHER
:cofdate: CAN I JUST SAY THAT THE GOVT HAD 3 MORE LETTERS IN MY MAILBOX AGAIN TODAY?? NOW THEY WANT ME TO START ALL OVER AGAIN AND FILE FOR REAL DISABILITY NOW THAT I HAVE PAID ENOUGH INTO THE SYSTEM :faint: AND THIS IS ALL COMING FROM ANOTHER WOMAN WHO DIDN'T ANSWER HER PHONE ALL FREAKING DAY :faint: GOD SAVE ME FROM SOCIAL SECURITY AND THEIR "HELPFUL WAYS"...:tantrum:
I HELPED OUT AT THE OFFICE A TAD. AND I TRIED THE ZYRTEC FOR MY EYE PAIN. ONE DR IS RIGHT...THE PAIN WAS FROM A SINUS RELATED THING THAT IS AFFECTING MY EYE MUSCLE...FLUID RETENTION. SO LOOKS LIKE ZYRTEC IS THE DRUG OF CHOICE RIGHT NOW TILL I CAN FIND SOMETHING THAT MY BODY CAN HANDLE EASIER. I CANNOT LIVE IN A ZYRTEC FOG!
WEATHER WAS GORGEOUS AND I KEPT GOING OUTSIDE TO GET THE AIR AND THE SUN...ALMOST 60 DEGREES TODAY :sunny: THE LULL BEFORE THE BIG STORM HEADING OUR WAY. LET US PRAY FOR RAIN AND NOT SNOW!! :rain:
ALL IS WELL WITH JEN AND RICHIE AND THEIR GOVT PROBLEMS. SO THAT IS ANOTHER LOAD OFF MY MIND.
HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND. I AM GOING TO REST UP AND JUST DO SOME TIDYING UP.
HAPPY FRIDAY! :moped:

Been busy with the new employee/trainee. She is going to work out just fine. A very smart young lady of 45 years. She had a social work degree and was working on her masters until she found a job. She said with the economy she was happy with anything. She seems to like it and is catching on better than some I have trained.
so glad that you are feeling better. Can you believe that the tree's have already started to bloom and leaf out.
from the looks of the radar right now you are going to be getting some more rain. We dodged the bullet last night.
Is the recumbant stepper like stairs/esculators?
Glad you found an apartment with a good location. It sound as if you have walked into a big mess.
That was nice of you to put the finishing touches on the wheel chair.
HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE AND A GOOD MORNING TO YOU ALL :cofdate:
THE SUN IS SHINING AND ALL IS WELL IN MY CORNER OF THE WORLD  I AM SO INVIGORATED FROM YESTERDAY'S MILD TEMP AND SUNSHINE. IT JUST FELT SO GOOD TO BE OUTSIDE!!! THE WEATHERMAN SAID IT ONLY REACHED 52 BUT I THINK IT WAS WARMER...UN LESS THAT WAS WISHFUL THINKING ON MY PART!! :bubbles:
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND I HOPE WHEREVER YOU ARE THAT THE SUN SHINES ON YOUR FACE AS WELL
JEANETTE~ I AM SO GLAD THE NEW LADY IS WORKING OUT WELL. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A "FRIEND" AT WORK. I ALSO SAW SOME BUDS ON TREES AND BUSHES AND IT WAS A MIRACLE!!! MADE ME FEEL GOOD. ENJOY THE DAY!
PS: DO YOU MIND ME CALLING YOU JEANETTE? I SEE YOU DON'T USE IT EVERY DAY. :D

It looks like the buds on the tree's may get nipped today. The weathermen are predicting the white stuff up to 4 inches. I have flowers that have emerged. I think they are iris but don't really look like iris. I know they are not jonquils.
I'm on day 2 of the 7 day stretch. I've already work my 4 days.
I don't mind you calling me Jeanette. It's my name. Some of the others may not recognize who I am. I've been ceejay for so long.
So far it's quite at work and hope it stays this way.
02-28-2009, 02:32 PM
And a good afternoon to you (as it is already past noon here). DH, me and the cat all slept in this morning. It was chilly and the covers were nice and cozy  Even Mr. Feral showed up after 7am and is curled up snoring.
As Ceejay said, we are due for our once a year snow storm. 1 to 3 inches of mush. I have all I need here so I'm not going out but I'm sure there is panic at the stores. It's supposed to start late this afternoon and go overnight. There is moisture all around us but right now it's just above freezing and I guess it's in the clouds as nothing is falling right now. By Friday it's supposed to warm up to 70 degrees again. Go figure! While there are buds on the trees and the daffodils are in bloom as well as the forsynthia, red buds and pear trees - thankfully our Japanese Maple has not started to bud yet as the snow would no doubt freeze that and damage it. I am not above putting bed sheets on the trees out front to save them
DH has to put in some overtime at work and it's a good day to stay in and tackle home projects.
Ceejay - I see you are in the path of the snow too. I'm glad you finally got a potentially good co-worker to help out. Teach her well!
Mel - there is nothing (to me) quite as energizing as those first few bursts of warmish spring air. Just like you said - you feel SOOOOOO good! Glad you got to enjoy a shot. Take care of that eye. Sounds squeemish to me. Is your eye red like a vampire? Glad to hear that Jen got her government hassles staved off (for the meantime).
Michelle - hope the weather leaves you alone. Have fun at the dog show - those are always fun! Get a little time in for relaxing with the hubster. :D
Shad - it sounds like you are back in a place where you can enjoy some sights on the weekend. Sounds like fun. And a 15 minute walk to the office, I'd sign up for that. Even if I had to drag my wheely laptop bag with me :D
Dance to the music Annie :dancer: I'm sure you'll have a good time tonight!
 Patty and Rose and the rest of the crew.
Time to get off the computer, make lunch and get something done here. Take care chicks, enjoy the weekend!

Beware it's snowing big time here. However, it isn't sticking. Mother nature must be giving us the last taste of Winter.
02-28-2009, 06:41 PM
We've got snow - AND it's sticking. Right now about a half of an inch.
Mr. Feral slept for 7 hours and then showed signs of waking up. I was afraid he'd leave without getting food so I opened the door and fed him. He ate but afterwards instead of trotting off, he just sat by the food bowl with his eyes closed. Finally (and he's NEVER done this before) he crawled back to his bed, curled up and went back to sleep. Guess none of us southerners like the snow - even the animals
It's pretty out there - looks like Christmas :snowglo: Maybe I'll make a 3 inch high snowman
02-28-2009, 06:49 PM
click on the pic at the bottom of my post for southern style snow - hurry before someone scoops it up, puts batter on it and tries to deep fry it

JEANETTE~ SENDING GOOD THOUGHTS YOUR WAY FOR THE REST OF THE WORK DAYS! THE SNOW IS JUST ARRIVING HERE. DID IT END UP LEAVING A LOT BY YOU? I THINK THE SOUTH IS GETTING MORE SNOW THAN WE ARE!!!!!
HAPPY~ MUST HAVE FELT GOOD TO HAVE A LONG LIE IN ON A WEEKEND. YES I LOOK LIKE A ONE EYED VAMPIRE!! BUT IT'S HEALING VERY FAST. HOPE YOUR TREES DIDN'T NEED TO BE TUCKED IN WITH YOUR DESIGNER SHEETS!! LOVE THE AVATAR!!! CAN YOU PLEASE SAVE ME A SOUTHERN DEEP-FRIED SNOWBALL?? :hun:
:cofdate: GOOD MORNING CHICKLETTES! HOPE THE DAY BEGINS ON A HAPPY NOTE FOR US ALL. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
I HAVE JUST BEEN DOING BILLS AND TIDYING UP. GOT RID OF A LOT OF CASSETTES AND THE SENIORS ARE HAVING A BALL PICKING THRU THEM DOWN IN THE LIBRARY. I PUT A BOX OF THEM THERE. I HAVE SO MANY CD'S THAT I REALLY CAN'T POSSIBLY LISTEN TO ALL THIS MUSIC. IT SEEMS EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND THERE IS MORE CLUTTER. I HAVE TO GO AND GET THE MAINT/ ROOM READY FOR EDDIE...HE SHOVELS SNOW FOR US NOW THAT JIMMY IS GONE. WE HAVE A COATING WITH A PROMISE FOR AN 8" DUMP THIS AFTERNOON AND THRU THE NIGHT. SHOULD BE INTERESTING!!! SO MUCH FOR MY SPRING-LIKE FEELING!
HAPPY SUNDAY/MONDAY :moped:

We ended up with 5 inches of the white stuff. I don't have a digital but I did take some pictures. It is beautiful. There were times yesterday when the snow was falling so hard you couldn't see across the street. I didn't drive in it. I called the stand by water person to come and get me to take me home last night and to come get me this morning. The citizen's are wanting their streets plowed but the super of that department told me that the motor burned up on the machine and it would not be here till Monday. It's beginning to melt off the streets. It was really fun to watch.
03-01-2009, 12:55 PM
Oh and I've gotten my exercise I for today. I've shoveled part of the side walk so my shoes would not get wet. I still have some to do on the catwalk going to the lime room.
03-01-2009, 12:57 PM
Good morning chicks,
Winter wonderland this morning. I'd say we got about 5 inches also. Much more up north I hear. I thought that it would be melted by the end of the day today but we got more than I thought we'd get. The sun is brilliant this morning and the streets and sidewalks are starting to melt - just have to be careful of slushy, slippery areas.
Haven't seen the cats this morning so I think (hope) they hunkered down somewhere to ride out the storm.
Personally I'm looking forward to the end of the week when it will be 70. DH said this is a good reminder of why we can't live up north ever again - headaches, his back was hurting and late last night as I got ready for bed, my entire body was hurting. I remember that feeling from winters in Chicago - and I start to feel that way by the end of the week when we are visiting for Christmas.
Going to try and get some things done around the house today. Was hoping I wouldn't have to go to the store but I am low on a few things so I'll take inventory and make a short list.
Happy Sunday all!
