The reason it's more points is that you can only count 4 grams of the fiber. So if you eat three of the same thing at once that is only low because of the fiber content, it will be higher points than if you eat them on separate occassions where you get to count the fiber each time. Basically, calculate the points for the entire amount of each item (such as three potatoes) and you are calculating them correctly (rather than calculating the points for one then multiplying it by three).
That said, it is not going to make that much of a difference overall, so if it's easier on you to count the points for each one, then do it! It'snot like you're going out on a binge or anything.
