That's a great question! I've tried every diet plan on earth. WW, Jenny, Medifast... none of them seem to do the trick!
I know that exercise is key, and I always feel better once I get to the gym. But, does anyone else HATE going? So many mirrors, nowhere to hide!
I think I'm going to try the calorie counting method, and exercise!

Welcome to the club, Linda!! This is a great bunch of people around here. I feel accepted and supported here. EVERYONE is struggling with similiar issues here AND there are quite a few people here who have kicked a** in the weight loss department that have great advice.

Welcome to the 100+ board, Linda! It's always cool to have another comrade in arms in this fight for a healthier us. Everyone here is wonderfully supportive and there is a huge amount (pun intended) of weight loss wisdom floating through the threads.
So, congratulations to you for taking that first big step, choosing your health over bad habits and food. I can't wait to post on your "I just lost my first 5 pounds" thread!

I am a calorie counter as well. IMO, there is no better longterm approach to weight loss and maintenance then counting up those calories. Wanting to get the most from every precious one that goes in my mouth has forced me to choose good, nutritious, tasty, wholesome foods, which gives me a lot of volume, something I like and need. It's also the only thing that makes me limit my portions and tell me when to stop eating.
As far as exercise, why not just start out walking? Also consider buying yourself a resistance band to add in some strength training. Leslie Sansone's 1,2 & 3 miles Walk Away the Pounds DVD is another great beginning exericse.
