100 lb. Club - Blisters

I'm ramping up my walking again -- I really want to do the C25K program -- and, as usual, I'm getting blisters on my toes. The blisters aren't on the ends or sides, but closer to the big part of my foot, if that makes sense. Any ideas on preventing more or healing these up faster?

Barb, it sounds like you need better shoes, or thicker socks.

Band-aid makes pads you can put on blisters that make them pretty pain free. Moleskin also work but the new band-aid pads are pretty awesome.

I would invest in some good quality moisture wicking socks without seams.
I like Bamboo socks. They seem to be what works best for me.

Agreed, better socks.
I like Thorlos but there are loads of good options.

Agree on the socks and shoes. There is also product out there made for blisters that I swear by:
There is also one for fingers and toes.

I'm going out to REI this weekend -- I think I've seen the Running Store around as well (but it's obviously not some place I frequent YET!) and look for the cool socks. And Walmart for the blister ampoules!

Smartwool socks rock.
